Speaker 1 (00:02):
So as a family, Sam, we had a big discussion
over the weekend about how much earlier the sun would
be coming up this morning. Yeah, and it explained the confusion.
It's really funny how because this time changing only happened
every six months. You actually have to stop and think,
is it gonna be earlier, is it gonna be later?
It's gonna be darker sooner you.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Have after sooner? Yeh, darker sooner in the evening, which
I don't love, but it just depends, like because I
like to go take walks with the dogs. It's why
I don't always love it, because if I'm late, I'm
in the pitch black. But I love to come inside
and have more time for night things, you know, reading
all that, being with the family.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
It's weird because even though the day felt shorter to
me yesterday, the night felt longer. It felt like I
had a little bit more of a Sunday night.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, kin of did you did? What about you? Sam?
Do you've liked the feeling of the extra hour you
got or do you feel whacked out? I stop.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I like in the middle of summer when it stays
light till eight thirty or now, it's just late at night,
it's like it makes me feel like there's more to
the day. The day's not over with yet, even though
it doesn't matter because time is still time Shill twenty
four and seven. Just mentally, when it gets dark, it's like, well, well,
got to go to work. Sunday's over.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
That's how it's supposed to work, right, We're mentally supposed
to rise and fall and all that with the sun
rising and setting and all that.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
That's called the circatiean rum.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
That's right. I'm sorry, Thank you guys. You know what
I realized this weekend while we had a really fun
family weekend. My mom's been with us, living with us
for is it ten or eleven weeks? Now?
Speaker 1 (01:31):
No, No, let's ask Murphy, it's ten or eleven years.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Why just let one of them go? You could just
let it go once been with us eleven weeks? Eleven? Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
How many hours?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
You know what I have done every day since she's
been with us eating cheetos and you have two. My
mom loves cheetos until she always has them in the house,
so she buys them, and now that she's living there,
I buy them because we eat them too, and she's
fine with that. We share all food. You know, she
eats with us. We eat her food too that she eyes.
I need to stop. You cannot eat Cheetos every day? Well,
(02:09):
I'm feeling it and I can't deal. Now. I can
say no to the regular Cheetos anytime, but those jalapeno
cheddar those are a problem. Those need to get out
of My wife.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Is she by those?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
She buys those, and whenever we eat them, I try
to buy them for her to replace. You understand the
vicious cycle that it is. So I guess I need
to just buck up my willpower because she's going to
be with us, you know. Yeah, anyway, God love it.
Coming up Hollywood, a little bit more on Prince Harry
(02:40):
and his new famous actress girlfriend, and Meryl Streep will
be a part of award season coming out. Tell you
about that, Judy's Hollywood Outsider, Miss Meryl Streep. Guys, one
of the greatest actresses actors of all time is going
to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Well. It's
(03:00):
a Cecil Special Baby Mail Award coming up the Gold
Globe Awards, which happens in January, So it's really closer
than you think it's almost award season. And remember when
she won one of her oscars recently, when they called
my name, I had this feeling. I could hear half
of America going, oh, no, her again. You know, but whatever,
(03:25):
at least she knows that she knows the general feeling
about it. The thing about her is for us. If
you're for fans, if you are a consumer of entertainment,
which we certainly are, maybe you don't get it. I know,
Murphy and Sam, you guys don't really love her and
get it. But it's it's an industry, industry thing. People
who work with her have mad crazy respect for her. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Look, there's no doubt she's a great actress. And I
think it's that's a guy thing because most of her
roles have been emotional, kind of gut wrenching, kind of weeping.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Oh he's crying.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Oh not always have you? She did some fun stuff.
In fact, I'll make it my mission next playing the
fun stuff to you. Okay, we'll do that later this week.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
So Prince Harry introduced his new girlfriend Megan Markle to
his father, Prince Charles recently at a shooting party.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Who is Megan Markle? Is she.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
She's an American actress. She's in that legal thriller called Suits.
She grew up around TV shows because her dad was
a lighting director for Married with Children, so she was
like a little kid on the set of that show. Yeah,
she's hot too, She's very, very beautiful. She and Prince
Harry met like during his Invictus Games tour and they.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Hit spending like a week at her house.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Well, it's been rumored, it's been confirmed, But I got
news for you the palace, won't you know, they don't
talk about rumors and stuff like that. But is it
looking serious for the spare Air. Yes, because he introduced
her to Prince Charles and he doesn't do that, so.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
They're not going to have any trouble with an American
actress marrying Prince Harry. I don't know if that's where
it goes, right.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
I'm sure there's going to be little you know, we
don't usually let this go and do this, But he,
like Tody said, he's the spare A.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
No pressure, He does what he wants. They're used to
him doing what he wants. Does this surprise them? And
she's not like this is not like Miley Cyrus. She
she looks the part. You know what I'm saying. Supposedly
next on their list if he's serious about her, will
be William and the Princess.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well, he's also got introduced to the Queen.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
It's something that'll be last.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, and you know it at knock on the door.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, creen mother, queen mother like you to me my grandma.
Up to date with Jody's Hollywood Outsider coming up next
to what do you do about aggressive turkeys? See them
find out because down in California is having to do
something about it. Listen to the show on your schedule,
subscribe to the podcast, and get more from Murphy, Sam
(05:49):
and Jody after the show.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah. By the way, today Sham did something on Facebook
that he should have done and can't take back.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's awesome way to go slick.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
You can find out what that is by subscribing to
the podcast.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Keep It Classy saying its election related to Okay, guys,
I know you guys didn't grow up in the country
like I did. And at one point in our barnyard
we had turkeys and they were really really fun to watch.
But when I read the headline just this weekend about
these aggressive turkeys.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, It's fun about watching turkey.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
The way they walk in their heads, but mainly the males,
because when they strut around and stomp and they're acting
all male ish and they start dragging their feathers, it
is quite a show.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
You remember that viral video that the guy walked in.
Apparently if you make the noise, all the turkeys will
make the noise. Back at that video.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
For a few years ago, our male turkey was really
mean to some of their babies.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
And why don't you have turkeys? Were they pets or
were they.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Okay, I'm sorry. We lived in the country, we had
a barn. They weren't pets, but they were our animals.
I don't know, you have to ask my.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Dinner.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Well, that's what I'm wondering, is was this a typical
farm life or were they just there?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
You know, you know, I'd have to ask my mom.
But my dad when we moved into that house and
bought that property, okay, he wanted to. There was a
beautiful barn and barnyard and all that, and we filled
it up with chickens and turkeys and we had a
calf at one point.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Did you find yourself asking questions frequently like Where are
the turkey's daddy? Where did the chickens go?
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I don't Where is my cow when it's a part
of your normal life. I didn't think twice about it.
I don't know what became of the turkeys, so maybe
I didn't eat it.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
But anyway, he was mean. The main one was the male.
He was mean. At one point I looked outside and
he was throwing one of the baby ones up in
the air. They weren't playing, No, it was weird and
calling the other turkey's names too. Why do you want
to do?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah, you're not nothing better than a chicken.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
You see, I've never thought about that. Did I eat
him or not? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
That's fine. Well, I mean if he disappeared, obviously.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I remembers that horrible story that I told you that
something my dad maybe help him do in the shop
with a bird. Remember it was probably one of the turkeys.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I grew up in the city, so my exposure to
turk I thought a turkey came in a bag with
a thermometer that stuck out for the oven.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, anyway, and they only come once a year's right?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Who knows where they are.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
When I read this story over the weekend about the
aggressive turkeys taking over a small town in uh California,
I know that it's possible because they can be aggressive.
So fun out what you do about an aggressive bird
if you ever come across one.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Coming up next, I guess I feel schooled right now
on what Jody was explaining a minute ago.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
But he started yet explaining though, well, apparently.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
There's some aggressive turkeys in California that we're saying.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
That the town outside of Sacramento.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
But it took Sam and I trying to understand the
dynamic of turkeys in an actual barn, which is what
Jody had as a kid growing.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yes, she said they were fun to watch, but.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Really fun to watch. The fun I don't know if
that I'm sure that is their.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Demise, potentially mean to each other.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
The male turkey was mean. That doesn't mean all male
turkeys are ours was mean and we don't know why.
And that's through the eyes of a young girl. Maybe
he was doing normal turkey things and I thought it
was mean. You know what I'm saying. I didn't name him.
My dad call them some funny names that I can't sure.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Okay, Anywow, he's got three names.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
So there are some aggressive turkeys and not terrorizing the
people of this small town. But one of them so mean.
They call him downtown Tom. This turkey he'll start. They're
wild turkeys, obviously.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Oh okay, so these aren't farm raised butterball turkeys. They're
not aggressive as laid back as can be.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
No anyway, some of the nine to one one one
calls have been, Hey, this is embarrassing, but I'm trying
to get into my office on whatever Street and there's
this huge turkey surrounding my car, circling me. I don't
know what to do. I don't want to run over it.
What do you advise? Other people are calling, going, look,
I got a turkey here that won't leave me alone.
He's cornering me. I can't go anywhere. I feel weird.
(10:03):
There have been actual nine one one calls about these
aggressive wild turkeys. The city council voted to relocate them.
They're wild, Okay, they're gonna try to relocate them. I
think they're working on that as of.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, I know where they're relocating them.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
It's November. Anyway. The deal is, if you ever have
an aggressive bird cornering you supposedly clap your hands and shout.
Don't run away from it, but clap your hands loud
and shout, and they don't like that, and maybe they'll.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Run away from it. What is it gonna do? Chase
me down? And I guess it could pack me today.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Maybe you could try making the noise.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
And then you'll never lose it. They'll think they found
a friend.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
Coming up next, producer Ellie's Got the Nailed Bag.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Lisa is very sympathetic to Sam's kitchen disaster when he
tried to make Jody's pump over. Yes, she knows exactly
what happened. You know why because she's a professional family
and consumer sciences teacher.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Wow, find out what Sam did on Facebook? And I
can't take back Murphy Salm and Jody after the show.
Well you can get that is by subscribing to the podcast.
Something special that you get you know that you won't
hear here.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
Wait, you didn't do this on the Murphy Salm and
Jody Facebook page. No no, no, no, no, my personal Okay,
I didn't see it, so I was curious.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
The producer's mail bag, Emily, what's in your bag today?
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Lisa has sent an email to Sam. She is very
sympathetic about the kitchen disaster he had when he tried
to make your pumpkin bread. Jody, Okay, because there's the
recipe that we have on our page said two cups
of pumpkin, right, but a can isn't actually a cup,
so it's kind of confusing.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
A can is almost two cuts almost right, quite so
you have to open a sacking can.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Use a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Over the years, I didn't realize. I didn't change the
recipe text verbatim, and over the years, as typical cooks do,
I just started doing one can of pumpkin.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Maybe you got confused that year there was a pumpkin
short and the only thing you could buy was one can. Boom.
Speaker 6 (12:02):
Okay, okay, hey, Lisa says, good morning. I was listening
to your show on the ride to work and just
wanted to let you all know that part of the
problem with the two cups versus one can of pumpkin
when using older recipes and new recipes, is the fact
that food manufacturers often downsize their products. Lisa Murphy is
on board with this, look at them so right always.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
She suspected that with snackcakescakes.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Little Debby cakes are twice.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Phoebe, That's what she thought, anyone.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
My daughter, Phoebe is so your child. She was fussing
the other day about why do they make the chip
bag so big when there's only this many chips in it.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
Lisa goes on to say Jodie's original recipe probably stated
either one can of pumpkin or two cups of pumpkin,
which used to be the same thing. By decreasing there
by decreasing their can size by one ounce, they are
able to keep the price the same but give you
slightly less in the can, increasing their profit March.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
So it's a sham.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
While this isn't a big.
Speaker 6 (12:59):
Factor in most cases and uses in some recipes, it
does create problems. I have been a family and consumer
sciences teacher for a while, and this is actually one
of the lessons that I teach my students when it
comes to consumer behavior and food purchases. Lisa love your show.
I even make my students listen in the morning when
they are doing busy work and want to have the
music on.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Make them huh, Lisa, I think we've found a new
best friend.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
That's right, Yeah, Lisa, you're awesome and yeah, as of today,
the way the cans of pumpkin are sold when I
make it, it's one can of pumpkin, and the recipe
has been corrected on our.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Website, Lisa saying that does remind me there are other
recipes I've made in the past that they make you
some When you look at the can, it's like, man,
why isn't it what the recipe is? And you got
a buy two just to use a little.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
It's big business or as you call it, Sam a sham.
We love hearing from you, Lisa, call any our reach
out anytime on our Facebook page or Murphy Samon Jody
dot com.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Coming out Hollywood, how.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
SNL surprised everybody with their political stuff this weekend, Trump
and Hillary at that Net.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Well, we can't do this without mentioning what happened this
weekend on SNL. Of course, Now this was the last
weekend before the election, right, so we expected Kate McKinnon
and Alec Baldwin to be there as Hillary Clinton and
Donald Trump, and of course they were.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
How are you both doing this week?
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Really really great erin they're all still buying it?
Speaker 7 (14:28):
Yeah, it has been a great week for me too.
My favorite part was when I lost that big, huge
lead I have.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
So they went back and forth and that was the
opening skit, as it should have been, and they were
going back and forth with what you expected, and it
was pretty funny, but it seemed to never never end,
especially even for them. At one point Alec Baldwin as
Donald Trump, this is the big story. I guess broke character.
He just turned his head and it's like, I can't
do this anymore. And of course it was part of
(14:56):
the bit that they broke character.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I'm sorry, Kate. I just hate yelling all this stuff
at you like this.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, I know, all right, this whole election has been
so mean.
Speaker 8 (15:07):
I mean, I just feel gross all the time. Don't you,
for guys feel gross all the time about this.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
So they held hands. This is on the stage. They're
hugging each other, and they decide to run out. You
know they do this sometimes in SNL, run out into
the street. They're like they're you know, times square, hugging people,
kissing people like you know, in character then but just
spreading love. They come back to the studio and Kate
kind of encouraged everybody to vote right and then the
words is just going to stop this ugliness. Although you
(15:37):
know tonight NBC is doing the SNL election rightnight, but
they can't do it on Tuesday night because everybody be
watching results. So tonight the best sketches and skits since
Alec Baldwin took over as Donald Trump. And it'll go
back about a season or two and then it got
plenty to fill with. So if you you really want
to get an escape and a little laugh on regarding
(15:58):
all of this stuff, you know I was giving us
that tonight. They also had a huge, big weekend with
host Benedict Cumberbatch, who had the biggest weekend of his
life because he starts in Doctor Strange. It opened this
weekend and did better than expected. We honess energy, unshaped
ree Energy. This is the Marvels superhero who's not really
(16:18):
a superhero with a cake or anything. He's got magic.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
They expected.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
He expected it to be like a seventy million dollar opening.
It was eighty five million. Everybody loving Doctor Strange. Coming
up in your next Hollywood Outsider this morning, it's seven
fifty five. Brad Pitt gets serious and throws down the
custody battle Gauntlet.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
We have a Murphy Salm and Jody, you are a
Hollywood insider on the way.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Just after seven the Christmas toy that's already selling out.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Does the hot toy of the year.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Coming up next hour, Joney's got some help for it,
Single Women, how to Spot a Creepy Guy? And I
guess over joy I assume how to Keep Out of
Your Life. That's next hour, Sam.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
We finished it this weekend, Murphy and I. We finished
Stranger Things, and I just want to say, I know
that we may maybe we're late to the party. Maybe
you've been hearing about it for a long time and
you haven't watched yet. We're not going to spoil anything
if you're like on episode four, we promised we are not.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Going to go out spoilers.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
But how ridiculously exciting is it to watch something that
takes you back to nineteen eighty four? That's new though,
Like I could go watch old movies all day that
I've seen before, But to go watch to watch something
that sucks you in so but to me crazy just
because of the genre. I felt like I was there.
I found myself watching every detail, like when they would
(17:41):
go into Nancy's room, the teenage girl. Yeah, I'm looking
around at everything in her room because I'm thinking I
had that, I had something like that. My poster wasn't
Tom Cruise, but it was Rick Springfield.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
That's what makes the show an extra special connection for you.
It was crazy, right exactly.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yeah, so we it was Fabyls. Yes, I guess. Yeah.
It was scary, like you get to see something you
haven't seen the whole time in that final episode.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Those spoilers, no no, no, no, no, no spoiler my
favorite part Sam, because I do this and Jody knows this.
After every show that we wound up binging on Netflix.
I avoid Google, I avoid anything social media anything very
time we watch so that we don't see spoilers. So
when we're done is where I finally go and I
get all the mind the scene stuff.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
And after we watch it, we're still watching stuff like
videos for an hour after.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
So he did that and well, and then I got
to see all the Jimmy Fallon stuff, which is cool.
When they had the kids on from Australia.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Do you forget about something?
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Do you forget about old bar Nancy's friend sitting on
the diving board I guess my question to you now,
Sam is what do we watch now? Because what is
it going to be a year before Stranger Things too?
What are you watching?
Speaker 3 (18:56):
I just finished this one called Glitch. Yeah, it's an
Australian there's only episodes and it's about five people who
come back from the dead and they can't figure out
why why they're bad? Right, well, it is pretty good,
very mysterious.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
It gets it for six episodes, right. Thanks you about
the recommendation.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Yeah, Sam has news.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Yeah, they're already starting the line up the holiday specials
for us. Mariah Carey is going to be in one.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
I'll tell you where you find She's Miss Christmas. Also
coming up next the toy, the big holiday toy for
this year that's already selling out, actually sold out every
single year, it seems there is one it toy, one
hot toy that sells out that you know, even Sama's
Workshop can't stay on top of. And supposedly we have
(19:44):
one already. Have you guys heard about this? No hatch
moles hatch holes like an animal that hatches a hatch
a mole, you get an egg, okay, and the more
you play with it once you activate it like It
can take ten minutes to hatch or can take forty minutes.
But the more you play within, you hatches and then
you get a little toy hatch. Amals need you to
hatch and bring them to life. I can hear it.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
It's ready to hatch.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Inside.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Huh, it's catch and you don't know what it's going
to look like when it's inside, Like you get a surprise.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Animals, right, Dinosaurs.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
They look like little birds to me, like a little ferbies.
But they look like a little bird because they came
out of an eggxam. Now, so the word is the
company is doing their best to keep up, but they've
already sold out in some of their major places. You know.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
So what do you do with the animal and it
comes out?
Speaker 2 (20:36):
You play with play with it. Okay, yeah, it becomes
your animal that hatch.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
What's the pull here is the fact that it's hatching
or that you get to play with that.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
That's my thing. I think the most exciting part is
when it hatches, So ten minutes or forty minutes after
you get it, that's the most exciting thing.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
It would be awful if you got bored after it's hatched,
and you know you should be taking care of it.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Right, How many toys do you kids get bored with
after that first day you know that happens.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
That happens if the whole whole thing hinges on it hatching.
It's brilliant from their standpoint as once it hatches, Mommy,
I gotta have another one.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Okay, here you go.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Here's timbook doesn't just sit there though you can play
with it. It's sort of interactive, you know what I'm saying.
So once it's hatched, you do have a toy that's
an animal that plays that becomes yours. So it depends
on the child.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
And I guess the best way to describe it because
I was wondering if this was like one of those
computerized things, but it's really it's actually it looks like
a stuffed animal when.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
It comes yeah right, yeah. So anyway, supposedly, and the
company releases has released statements that they're doing their best
to come in and to keep up with it. They're
not promising anything because they're sold out on the major
retailers right now.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
When you go to their website, that's the first message
that pops up to, Hey, guess what you know?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
I just want to say to all kids, there are
hundreds of awesome toys. Do not put all of your hopes,
in all your hopes into one thing. And that's not
what it's about. It's not about one thing anyway. It
just isn't so. And the thing is, I'm going to
(22:02):
stay on top of it. If they become more available,
I'll let everybody know. We'll, you know, if the North
Pole can keep up, we'll let everybody know too.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Yeah. Sam has Music News got.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
A bunch of the holiday specials that are being announced.
I've got two of the lineups for two of them
for you, including a big one with Mariah Carey.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Sam's got Music News.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Some of the Christmas specials. Holiday specials are starting to
be announced when we can see them, where we can
catch them. And there is going to be a VH
one Diva's Holiday Unsilent Night Concert.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
H I don't know.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
It sounds like a horror movie.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Yeah, I get it, I get it.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
It's basically it's VH one Diva's Holiday Special. They've only
got one performer so far, Mariah Carey.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
They don't need anybody else.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
They're going to.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Have more, but they just to announce it. They said, hey,
we're kicking it off with Mariah. My only problem with
the diva concerts of then, I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
I haven't had any in years.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Right, it was the first times that they did it.
It was you understand, you have that many divas in
a room, and it was too much of the you're
asking for trouble. No, no, no, I just mean the vocals,
like each one tried to out sing the other, and
so I just got a headache.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
It's gonna that show's gonna be December second, but you
can catch it on VH one December the fifth. Okay,
New York City, also Christmas and Rockefeller Center. We got
the line up for that one.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Sarah McLaughlan, Garth and Trish are gonna be there, Josh
Grobe and Neil Diamond, Dolly Parton, Yeah, but the headliner, yeah,
mister Tony Bennett lay.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Bell, It's rain Who are you listening in the.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Late years of age?
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Man?
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Rockets are gonna be there too.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Is this coincide with the whole Macy's thing?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
No, this is after Macy's. This is the Rockefeller Yeah,
that's free.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
This will be November the thirtie.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Okay, I got it.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
It's after it.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
So but but the reason that they're doing him in
Macy's is because they're Nighty and he's ninety, Is that right?
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Because he's Tony Bennett or at the parade Nighty parades
ninety and he's ninety.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Got it and he's got this. And I think there's
a special too that'll be on his ninetieth birthday special.
Remember they recorded Wow back in September.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Minute time time to celebrate them.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Some heartbreaking news you may have heard this over the
weekend about Michael Boublade his three year old son. Michael
and his wife announced on their various digital social media
pages that their son Noah has cancer and his undergoing
treatment here in the US. So what Michael and his
wife have both done, they said, they're putting their professional
(24:28):
careers on hold. Of course, they are until they can
see the end of the tunnel and you know that
once of treatment hopefully, and they're wishing for they're asking
for prayers and support and all that and privacy and
they say they'll get back, you know, on track, once
everything is taken care of course.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Murphy Music News, it's that time of your boys. We're
gonna launch this today new family favorite recipes for a
kicked up Thanksgiving. We've got all the traditional recipes, but
we're going to add cream cheese to a classic coming
up next and you're gonna want it. It's kicked up.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
You can find out what Sam shouldn't have posted on
his personal Facebook page.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
And I didn't think that would come back to buye me, but.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
It still might. You can subscribe to the Merphy, Sam
and Jody podcast after the show is something exclusive that
you don't get to hear here. But when you become
a subscriber, it's all yours.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Become a Facebook friend. It's time, guys, to launch something
for Thanksgiving. We're getting you ready, new family favorites recipes
for a kicked up Thanksgiving? You feel me?
Speaker 3 (25:31):
These are all spicy.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
No no, no, no, no no no, don't misunderstand. We
have plenty of traditional recipes online for you at Murphy
Samonjody dot com, but also some different kicked up ones.
Let's start with something I can't stop thinking about. I
think I might make it this week for us to
all try. Producer Emily found this and you had me
at cream cheese.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
That's her.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Let's go.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
I was gonna say this recipe. You know, Jody and
I have a lot of things in common. One we
love cream cheese, yeah. Two we love Paulladine recipes.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
You do.
Speaker 6 (26:00):
This is from Palladine and it is a cream cheese
pecan pie. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Yeah, wow, I've never heard of that combo.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
And who wouldn't be in for that?
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Yes? There is?
Speaker 2 (26:14):
So in the pie.
Speaker 6 (26:15):
You're going to mix some cream cheese and some sugar
and some vanilla extract, Okay, and that's going to go
in on the bottom layer of the pie. And the
top layer of the pecan pie is more of the
traditional corn syrup pecans that get top and half bake it,
so it's layered. The bottom is the cream cheese, sugar deliciousness,
and the top is the more traditional pecan pie.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah, and that's it. We're not talking hard here, people, right, I'm.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
In why can't you mix it together? Murphy?
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Don't do this to every recipe.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
I'm just saying, why not solid by the cream cheese
from my entire slice?
Speaker 6 (26:48):
Who wouldn't want to solid buy the cream cheese?
Speaker 3 (26:51):
That's what I'm wondering though. That's why I asked about Caro,
because mixing that with cream cheese. I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Fits on to.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I'm not the only person who's questioning.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
I'm not saying do it, no, don't do it. It
sounds illegal to me. There needs to be a layer,
is what he's saying.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
And think about it. You bring it to a party
and everybody's like, oh, look at that pecan pie. Then
they cut it bam, cream cheese.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
I'm willing to try it. You could probably turn the
skeptic in me.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Into oh, you always have these things to say because
you're not a cook, But boy, are you a consumer? Yes?
Speaker 1 (27:20):
I am tell you what.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Okay, it's called cream cheesecanpie.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
Well, she calls it mystery pecan pie, but I prefer
cream cheese pecan pie.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Check it out New Family Favorites at Murphy Samon Jody
dot com. Coming up next, Sam, we want to know
what you did this weekend to get ready for your
big game night tonight recreational basketball.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Oh yeah, and today's the big day that Sam dresses
in costume, i mean uniform for his recreational basketball game.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
First game, right, Yes, your first game is tonight at
eight o'clock. Poor thing, bedtime.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Okay, what are you definitely going to get to play.
Do you ride the bench the whole night?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
I'm going to be riding the bench most of the
time up starting basically relief.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
You're not first string?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
No, And I haven't even seen anybody on my team
except for Sammy and Will, who are both six four.
But Sammy's told me there's some other some other runners
on the team who are in their six is you know,
six three, six'. Five, okay so it looks sounds like
those guys will play And i'll just be there for
a breathing. Relief you're six what six six?
Speaker 6 (28:19):
One?
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Still do you want to just sit there the entire time?
Though or don't you want to want to do?
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Something BUT i KNOW i can't run the whole, game
especially SINCE i haven't gotten off the sofa in six. Months, well,
OKAY I i'll tell you. THIS i did buy a
basketball this. Weekend, good, Okay i'm getting.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
There and what did you? Do you have a goal? Outside? No,
no we have. One you should have come.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
OVER i dribbled it around just to make SURE i
still have ball, skills handling skills and how they. Go
it was. GOOD i, Mean i'm not going to run
down the court and out run any of these fast.
Guys but you KNOW i can hold my.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
OWN i play basketball myself in the. GARAGE i played
in junior high and half of high school and Once. Rick,
also to get yourself more ball, confidence lay on the
floor on your, back pull your knees up and just
work on your back. Spin just push it up into
the air like you're shooting it at a.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
GOAL i just need to go find a goal somewhere
like a park or a neighbor's house or something where nobody's,
around BECAUSE i don't want to go somewhere and then
have to be a pick pickup. GAME i just want
to make SURE i can still.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Shoot And, sam you can come over today on the
way home and shoot and then you can go play
maybe so, yeah to our house if you really really want.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
To, Okay i'm not so sure About jody's advice, though
about laying on the ground with your knees, up and
you may get.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Up.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
OH i don't know why you need to put my knees.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Up you, can but it feels better on the. Back trust,
ME i did. THIS i still would do it IF
i had a basketball AND i had no. Time if
had time to kill no. GOAL i would lay there
and you know. PRACTICE i know it's a it's a real.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Thing kids did this because your practice that y'all did
in junior high is.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
That practice that we. Did it was something that you
were told to do in your extra. Time, yeah after
you stretched and you were waiting for the coach to come.
In you would do that if you didn't want to.
Shoot all, Right, well IF i don't take a nap this,
afternoon Maybe i'll try. It work on that back spin
of the.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Ball or you could practice sitting on the. Bench you've
done for.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Me come, on, gosh no coming, Out.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Holly Brad pitt throws down the divorce. Gauntlets we got
that And Lady gaga gets a big role again With Ryan.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
Murphy Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Outsider So Brad pitt thought probably that This november right
now would be big for him because of this movie
he has coming out Called allied.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
And You Were Beautiful.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Good but, nos his personal life is the reason that
this is a big month in his. Life AND i
don't know if this has hurt him. Professionally he probably
does not care right, now but he kind of threw
down a big gauntlet this. Week, well a few days,
ago he has filed for joint custody of his six
children With Angelina joe right.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Now originally she filed and wanted soul today with him
having visitation, only right.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, yeah that's pretty. Serious and he's had.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Visitation it's been supervised, Too.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah and you know he's not happy about, that so
he has filed. This it Won't it doesn't tell us
anything else about the, breakup WHICH i don't need to.
KNOW i really don't THINK i want to. Know but
it doesn't tell you anything. Else you just should know
That Child service is still investigating this whole, thing and
their findings will affect the custody. Agreement another thing to
know is that in the state Of, california they tend
to favor joint. Custody that's. GOOD i tend to believe
(31:30):
that in joint custody as long as there's not something
really unhealthy going on for the, children right and we
don't know what's really you can't know what's going on
these people anymore than you can know what's going on
with your neighbors when they close their.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
DOORS i don't even think after they have the investigation,
complete they'll completely know and it's. FINE i, mean they just.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Won't it's fine with. Me six. Kids, yeah you, know
it's a lot of little lives and little hearts whose
lives are. Changing all, right let's move on To Lady Gagai.
NEWS i know you love her On American Horror, story, Right, Sam.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Yeah she was was a vampire last season And hotel
and this season she's a.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Witch she's currently a witch right. Now she's a witch
in the rono she's. In she's only been in a
few episodes, though so that's disappointing because she's like a scene. Stealer,
yeah she was central character last, season so much going.
On in, fact the next time we'll really see her
in AN o wow moment as the Upcoming Super bowl halftime.
Performance but she likes working With Ryan, murphy who Created
American Horror story And American Crime. Story so let me
(32:24):
take you to the crime story side of. Things the
first season was The people VERSUS. O. J. Simpson second
season will be About Hurricane, katry.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Right we haven't seen that.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
One now they're going to start filming early next. Year
and then the third season they've already planned to be
all about the it's going to focus on the death
of designer For. Sachi, Okay Lady gaga in this particular
installment will Play Donna Tella, versachi his, Daughter so she
will be in AND i think a very.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
A lot of.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
It that's going to be a major.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Role, yeah very important part of. It it'll be a
while before we see, that but she has been cast
And Ryan murphy is. HAPPY i guess they really working.
Together coming up in your Next Hollywood outside this morning
at eight point thirty ON snl this. Weekend they really
did something surprising, politically but it was nice if you
can believe. That up to date With Jdy's Hollywood Outsider
(33:16):
hot a spot of, creeper that's, right what makes somebody?
Creepy on the way.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Another word In, November jody's got new Family. Favorites if
this actually you could probably use this Beyond, thanksgiving but
Since thanksgiving is really the next thing coming, up.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yep for a kicked Up thanksgiving new family favorite spees
you haven't heard of?
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Before, yeah when you say kicked, up it doesn't mean,
spicy it just means.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
No like we're adding cream cheese to pecan. Pie there's
a pecan pie with cream, CHEESE a layer on the.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Bottom what, Tomorrow, murphy it's cream cheese. Turkey that's not.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
TRUE i did you say that cream cheese wasn't involved
my new turkey. Spread all, right you guys, ready what
makes a guy or a person? Creepy let's talk about
what makes a Creep they've done studies and there's no
there's now an. Explanation and you need to know. This
if you're single and maybe you don't have a very
good creep, detector you, know you end up dating somebody
and they're. Creepy all your friends were, like, DUDE i
(34:07):
couldn't stand. Him he gave me the creeps and you
didn't know. It you're six months.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
In, see it's easier to be a creep detector if
it's like your third party totally sitting back and watching it.
Happen it's easy to see.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
You i'm not trying to pick on. Dudes but by the,
way when they did all these, studies men are way
more likely to be considered creepy than. Women only a
few times or women consider. CREEPY i don't know why that.
Is so are these things that don't stick out and are?
OBVIOUS i think these are. Obvious these all raise the
creep flag for, Me so let's run them. Down for
(34:37):
someone who doesn't show much emotional, expression that might should
be a little warning to, you not that there's no emotion,
there but people who don't are not. Expressive be. Careful.
Okay this is also a lesson in trust your, gut
ladies and, gentlemen trust your gut about. People what do
you say about?
Speaker 1 (34:54):
That if somebody can't express, themselves it's it's because part
of a relationship is emotional. Connection so if it's not
there at the very, beginning, yeah it should probably be
a question. Mark.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
RIGHT i, mean some people are like an, onion a
lot of, layers and the emotion is there and they
just don't they're not as.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Expressed and you're not talking about, shyness you're just talking about.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Expression if their face never, Changes if something really funny
happens and they don't, laugh or something really sad happens
and they don't, react that should be a warning to. You,
right what's, Funny, Sam?
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Nothing nothing at.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
All another one that bothers me in life in, business
and this is you, Too. Murphy if someone doesn't look
you in the, Eye oh, yeah that's a creep. Factor.
Thing it's one of the things that you should be aware,
of really totally should don't you? Agree so because the
guy's busy looking at other, THINGS i don't know. WHY
i don't. Know do you have an eye contact issue
(35:50):
with not? Us we look at you all the, Time so,
YEAH i have an eye contact issue with. People what
about women you're attracted?
Speaker 1 (35:55):
TO i don't.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Know show me, One, okay let me go find it all,
right coming up the top three things that should set
off your creep alarm? Bells that's. Next what makes a
guy a? Creep, look if you've got good, instincts this
is gonna be obvious to, you but you do have
to point it.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Out well when you say that it be. CREEPY i
don't know why the word messes with me on, that
because it seems to, me if somebody is a, creep
shouldn't it be obvious to?
Speaker 3 (36:24):
You, WELL i don't know if you're, thinking you, know
because sometimes you hear, creepy you think kind of like
in horror movie's.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Creepy that's not WHAT i.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Mean this is.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Different this is like something that's not right about this, Person.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Right that's what we. Mean and you've come across plenty
of creepy, People, murphy you just you're.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
NOT i know.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
This we're not gonna name, names But i'll connect the
dots for you.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Later you have your list for.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Me, anyway some of the things that should jump out to,
you especially single, ladies know. THIS i always, say trust your.
GUT i believe in trusting your. Gut and if you've
also been friends with somebody for years and years and
years and then they think somebody's a, creep you should
give them a little bit of credibility to at least
to open your eyes to it a.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Minute because sometimes it's, awkwardness, Right sometimes it's not really
a creep, factor but then sometimes there is something to
it that's what you.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Yes so that's why we're saying look for these. Signs
we already covered someone who doesn't show much emotional expression
that means good or. Bad if something great happens and they're, like,
okay something sad happens and they're, like, okay you know
they got one one level that's.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Odd that's when you're looking for the battery compartment to
see if they're actually a.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Robot, okay somebody who never looks you in the. EYE
i can't deal with. That, YEAH i, mean what are
You are you afraid to look in the. Eye that's
that's probably an intimacy. Thing someone who touches you often too.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Often, YEAH i don't like it when strangers touched me,
constantly and.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
They'll tell you about. That horribly creepy to use the
word DATE i had all those years. Ago remember the
DATE i was lucky to get out. OF i told
you About.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Murphy we're seeing the guy that kind of like grabbed
and wouldn't let you go To he was really.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Handsy you need to learn, Too murphy on in the
date in line for the.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Movie you, KNOW i was always a space RESPECTOR i
MEAN i still am a space respector not at. Home
there are some people, too have? You have you known Hansy,
OH i didn't catch. That you, know there are some
people who are just naturally like that and they don't
mean to. Be they're like boundary. Pushers but THEN i
see What jody's talking. ABOUT i can see how there
would be.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Guys like reading go out with you doesn't mean you
put your hand there yet kind of a. Thing, Okay,
yeah we want to find. There, Yeah and another one
to know about is if the talk always turns to something. Inappropriate,
yes thank, You, sam you should watch. Out just let
it be. One one of these doesn't make him a,
creep but a combination of these things you need to
(38:39):
look out. For check out all the creep signals At
