Speaker 1 (00:00):
Listen to the show on your schedule, subscribe to the
podcast and get more from Murphy, Sam and Jody after
the show. This is after the show producer, David. You
had some more fun for us from career Day.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah, there's the part I didn't get to tell y'all
today during the show, And it's just that when I
got there, this is a school. I went to middle
school here, so I've been there in about twelve thirteen. Oh,
that's exciting so much. There's some similarities, but so much
has changed. Like I got lost because I forgot they
added a whole another half to the school, so now
there's like a whole nother building part in and of
course that's where career day is going to be. So
(00:33):
I'm like, great, unfamiliar territory. Where am I going?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Any of the teachers there from when you were there?
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, that's what I was going to tell you what
there were, right, But I was unrecognized at first because
of the beer.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
All official hair you didn't have.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
But that's great because I see people look and say hi,
and they turn their heads so fast do a double
take because it didn't click a few seconds. I'm like, Hi,
it's me they're like, oh my gosh, what is this
And of course everyone had a pet beard. Yes, this
is it normal. Yeah, yeah, it was cool. They just
you know, talked about radio. Was like luckily, you know,
they just got to hear my voice and I don't
have to be you know, clean shaven for the show.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
You know, it's funny about running into old teachers is
even when it's years later, you still treat them like
they're the teacher, still the teacher. You give them that
same respect. And you know, it's tough for me to
even call them by the first name, because several of
mine want me to call them by their first name.
But it can. Yeah, but even like you know, twenty
five years later, there's still some of them.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
That, Yeah, they'd all tell me call me so and so,
and I'm like, no, I can't. You're missus.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yes, but you have a sign of respect.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Not even that my old teachers. The new teachers that
are there, because now they have teachers that are kids
that I was in school with, right that now you
know that's still doing Yeah, they got their teaching degree,
are now teaching there. And one girl I know, she
was a year younger than me, she's eight months pregnant
and married to another guy like their high school sweethearts.
I'm like, right, right, that's cool. I haven't seen you
in a while.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Now, there's something so I'm not you know, there's something
so surreal about going back to an old school in
a different place and walking around the corner. All of
a sudden, you're really reliving things, like it's from such
a different time, and it is a different time in
your life, but it's not that long ago. Did you
(02:13):
feel like a million miles away though?
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Because when I've gone back, when I had gone back
to my high school and even elementary school, I actually
got invited into the teacher's lounge, you know, and back
then that was like the secret to go over you
don't go in there. Yeah, so did you get to go.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
In the teachers I did, And you know, I was
very confused because they have a new one. It's a
part of the new school. Is like talking to the
new teacher's lounge. And this the fancy the way they
all called it, that there's the old teacher's lounge and yeah,
the new one in the new buildings.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
It was really cool. What's freaky about the old teacher's lounge?
Back from when I went to school. They still let
teachers smoke in the teachers whatever, the conference room, whatever
the break room was, which is really weird because you'd
see him open that door the big plus that's kind
of gross, and recall that.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
From ours, but I'm sure you didn't have that, David. No,
that's cool. Good that you got to go down memory
lane a little bit.
