Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Murphy Salmon Jody after the show, and it
looks like Jody has canceled our family Christmas card this year. Sam,
there you.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Go, Jody, I canceled it, but I'm in charge of it.
Every year. Our family mean you, Murphy and our girls
are famous for Oh you know, December twentieth going, Hey,
are we sending out a family card? Let's take a picture?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Who do?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's like, that's not how this works.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's weird, and that it sneaks up on us every year.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
So I try. I've tried all these years my best
to get on it early as early as possible, and
to plan or whatever we want to do, all of
us together and stuff too. I used to, whenever the
girls were little, used to put them in the same dresses.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I thought you and Murphy had matching topic.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Oh okay, okay, see this flannel that I'm wearing. I
got him one and his size too.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Oh I haven't seen it yet.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
It's hanging in my closet. I don't want you to
grab it and make it dirty. And if we were
to anyway the.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Girls house, you're going to take a picture.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
The girls have shirts that match also, not these they
have like these black furry and I've thought, okay, we'll
do the family picture where the girls are matching and
Murphy and I are matching. And we did that last
year and we loved it. It's one of my favorite things.
But TikTok, TikTok, and the schedules are ridiculous. Over the weekend,

(01:15):
they begged me to sleep late, so no getting up
in the morning and taking that picture.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah, I remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
And then you were in on that sleeping late too,
And then the girls got so busy. Phoebe has rehearsal
after school today until almost dark, and then Taylor works tonight.
There is almost no time to make this happen. I
just need one stupid little well picture.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
We can always photoshop it. Put the camera in one
place when the girls are available, let them stand on
one side of the frame, and then when you and
I are available, we'll stand on the other. And then presto, presto, presto, Murphio,
chop it up and put two identical trees in the.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Picture right with the shadows wrong. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Well, and there was a year that I had two
tailors in one Phoebe. That was like, how did you
do that? Why does this look wrong?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
For the record, we didn't send that out. But it
was fun to play with them the car.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
It was fun to be a family of five for
a few minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
The deal is though, after it's you know, we get it.
Let's just say, by luck Saturday morning, we got a
really good picture that we like. I still have to
send it off, you know, wait for it to come back.
Then I have to do all the you know, a
lot of da da da.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
It's a lot. Well, you don't want to be that
family that the cards show up the day after Christmas, right,
I mean that's happened before you.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
I think this is where this is going, right, This
could be a New Year's card this year. Anyway I want.
I'm bringing it up to you because your cousin did
something really cool. I saw it on Facebook today, your
cousin Taylor. She has a picture of her family that's
just in the feed, and I was like, oh, that's pretty.
And then it says at the top, if you're reading this,

(02:48):
it's on the picture. If you're reading this, it means
you're not getting a card in the mail. This is
our family Christmas card. So she took a picture and tada,
posted it, which we kind of did last year. We've
shared our family p Yeah, a.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Lot on that. That's a really good idea.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I guess she's not doing it. I know she's got
is it three children or her youngest is a two
year old pistol Like she's just a she's a busy
mom chasing that girl around.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah. I hope though, that the traditional card never goes
out a style because I just love that. To me,
I love getting them in the mail. Jody has this
thing called a a Christmas tree. It's a card tree,
metal tree. It's shaped like a Christmas tree, but you
you know, it's got the little rings for cards, you know,
and you and so as you get Christmas cards, you

(03:34):
just load them up and then it's it's full by
the end of the you know.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I okay, And this idea just occurred to me. You
send everybody that you would like to have a digital
picture frame, right, and all the people that you love
have the picture frames, and you just digitally distribute to
the cloud your Christmas card.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Oh that's too tagful.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
It's in there. You don't have to worry about shipping anything.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
That's a good idea. Maybe, Yeah, have everybody hooked their
you know, echo shows if they've got them or the
hub or whatever. And then and I'm going to send
you a Google drive link.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Well, looking is It's been fine over the years. There
have been years when we've just done the girls, and
then there are years where we do all four of us,
and we like that. I would love to get my
dogs in it this year. Oh my god, how awesome
would it be to have Leilah the new Pity in
our family picture.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And what's funny about that is for that to happen,
we actually have to take a photo. Yeah, I know.
Actually for that to happen, you have to close the
holes in the fence so that Leila doesn't get out.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I know all of this. I know all of this. Anyway,
I'm not against making it happen, but I'm realistic. I'm
the one that does this project every year.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
I know.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I'm serious. I'm not being you know, Christmas cranky about it.
I'm being realistic about it. You guys, go, oh, let's
take a picture. Okay, and Mom just handle that. And
it's a lot on top of everything else. So if
you guys cannot coordinate, if we can't coordinate as a family,
to take a picture soon, we will just do a
digital We love you, sir.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
It is Maybe here's the fix for next year. Let's
make it a Thanksgiving tradition that we take our picture
as a family. Then you've got it ready for when
Thanksgiving's over, and then we can you know, distribute from That's.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
True, although I will tell you this, if you want
to send one out with the girls on one side
of a picture of a card and you and I,
I don't love that as much as the family unit together.
But the girls have a really good picture that I
think maybe you took it or Candice did of them
at Renfest on Black Friday when you guys went to
Renfest and I went shopping. Yes, sir, half the pictures

(05:39):
at Renfest, the other half is in the living room.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Matches up perfectly.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
What we're dealing with. This little problem is a common
family problem. You know what we also happened to us
this year. Our card game is off Murphy because we
moved and a lot of my friends don't have my
new address yet, so we're not getting as many christ
That's what the Christmas card tree, it's got one card
on it right now.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
You know what I was wondering about that.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
We didn't lose friends.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
We confused everybody.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
At least I know we haven't fallen out of favor,
you know. I mean that's that's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
You haven't sent out a card in many years, Sam,
you stopped doing it a long time ago. I hate that.
But we always send you one when we get one out,
and we have. Actually, what's funny is we've only ever
missed one year. There's only one year. We didn't a
couple of years back, and then the girls never forgave
me for it, so it was like Christmas card has
to be on.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Now it looks like it's gonna be two years this time.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I hope not. But I don't know what to do
about Taylor being gone. I don't you know she's gone
all the time. She's busy.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Well maybe it is like you're saying, do the card
with the different shots. You know, the girls are in one,
me and you were in the other, and you know, dogs,
Merry Christmas from the Photoshop family.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
We haven't seen each other either.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
When you go online and you do like and what
is it snapfish or.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Is there are some others Shutterfly.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Shutterfly and those things. Yeah, so you know you can
do the multiple photos. We've done that before, and that
way everybody doesn't have to be in the same picture
at the same It's true. I just I mean, you
still have options. You still have options. Wait, I'm sorry,
we still have options.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
No, I still have options. That's why I'm telling you
that maybe not sending one out is an option. This
year missed any part of the show All at Murphysamon
