Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Murphy, Sam with Jody after the show.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You know, something interesting happened on Halloween night with you
and me Murph at the house, and it's so it's
a ghost story.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
We were ghosted though by the trick or treaters because
nobody showed up.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
We knew that, I know, I mean I knew that.
We kind of knew that.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
But you know, you know, in the years, in future years,
we can go to friends' houses. We have plenty of
friends who live in neighborhoods that are heavy trick or treated. Yeah,
we just figured, you know, let's not do that in
a COVID world.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
We had gone and hung out with some of our friends.
You're supposed to have that group of ten people that
you can hang out with. You're one of our Sam obviously,
and so is Bailey. Well, we have some friends Bret
and Jody. They're one of our ten. We've seen them
since the beginning, and so we hung out with them
to watch a game and stuff. So anyway, afterward, when
it was trick or Treat time, Murphy and I were
home and Taylor was gone out with friends baby to

(00:55):
a haunted house, and you know, Phoebe was with a
small group of friends too somebody else's house.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
N Depp.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
I don't remember what happened, so I'm really curious to
find out here.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
It's just a subtle thing that happened that I thought, Wow,
this is interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
So that we watched the Marvelous Missus masl not that
oh spooky episode one of season two.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, I know, okay, whatever, that's not that's not the
point what we watched. It was one of those things
where we spent more time trying to figure out what
to watch. We finally landed it's like, just.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Turn it on.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
No. We were at home by ourselves Saturday night, Halloween night,
no trick or treaters, and we saw it completely differently.
So normally the kids have the family room and there's
pizza boxes and the move that TV's left on and
the couch is all crazy, and the family room is

(01:48):
one of the coolest rooms in our house.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
It was an add on. We didn't add it on.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Someone else who used to live in this house added
it on. And it's just cozy and it's awesome when
we have a big screen TV back there in a sofa.
The dog's crazy are in there. YadA YadA YadA, and
Murphy's what do you call it? Turntable is back there
is where he plays albums and stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
It's just a cool room.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
So I'm walking in and I'm thinking, God, it's nice.
It's nice to have the family room to ourselves.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
And to have.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Just this kidding without you know, somebody I don't know
taking the room away or asking questions.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
And it was just nice.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
And as soon as I thought that, you said, God,
it's so quiet, I missed the girls.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
I didn't that thought.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
I didn't.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't
want to argue about it or whatever. But I and
I was enjoying that. And is that funny how you
just see things. Now there are times when I really
do miss them and I feel the same way. But
at that moment, I was like, my family room, my remote,
let's watch whatever we want to do. You know, it's quiet.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah. Yeah, I mean that's a Saturday night. You're really
trying to relax, you know, the whole weekend vibe, you know, just.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
The way that we saw it so different.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Ourday night Halloween party.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, well we were invited to some parties, but we
just didn't go.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, so you know, I mean, I actually I did
enjoy the time. You know, I did put on a
piece of vinyl and the uh so I think they
call it vinyl now today. Anyway, I don't know that
they called.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
It the I don't think the kids call it record
a record, no.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
But anyway, it's just funny to me the way we
saw it differently, because I think that's going to be
the way it is. There are times when it's it's
it's difficult to get used to. Phoebe still lives at
home obviously, and Taylor comes home all the time. In fact,
one of my favorite parts of the weekend was last night,
Sunday night, when she showed up at like eight pm.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Hey what's up?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
And so they were both there and we just had
this impromptu family hangout for a couple of hours. That
was really fun because Phoebe's a different kid when Taylor's around,
you know, a lot a lot of fun. Well, that
was one of my favorites. But it's not always that
way for me.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It's a pattern, you know. I mean, the thing is
when you get used to patterns, and you know, I
guess eventually you get used to it to it the
other way around too, Sam, because I mean you have
you have your younger ones every other weekend, but your
oldest moved out years ago, you know, and so you myxes.
But you know, I mean a room takes on and

(04:26):
energy to me. And so that is a room that
our family room. It has my grandmother's old piano. The
room is just kind of a it's the hangout room.
It's the one that Jody's okay with me putting things
on the shelf and stuff like that, but.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Jody isn't decorates in there, and it's like, okay, please
don't decorate any other part of the house that's mine.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
You are better. You are better at that, I mean
for sure. But you know, that is the room where,
like Jody said, their friends are over and so, and
the doors are usually close. You'll either hear the rumble
of the TV, or you'll hear them playing the piano
or that's where Phoebe will go and play our guitar.
So there's always some same. Yeah, there's a sound usually
coming out of that room, and when you walk into it,
it's got that going on. So when when they're not home,

(05:08):
and it's that you know, that quiet. It's just to me,
it jumped out.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
It did jump out, but you just felt it differently
than night because I was like, finally mine, you know,
even for just a few hours, I was excited about
it being mine. But you know, that's a realistic thing
that we're going to have to get used to. Phoebe's not,
I mean, as old of a soul as she is,
she's not about staying home all the time, and so
it's going to be hours more and more pretty.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Soon, it's just going to be the two I know.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I mean at nineteen and fifteen, we're getting closer to
that kind a rush. I mean, I would think that
we have at least a good five years maybe before
Phoebes moves out, or more maybe at least if she
stays through college.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Tato came home Friday night, Oh you have pizza coming, Okay,
I'll be there, And then she did and she it
was fine, we want her to do that, Like the
dining hall had closed, and so you're starting.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
To think we should have under a college further away.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
No, while we were with friends away, she stopped by
the house to put together her costume. I'm not sure
if she hit my closet or hers, but she put
together a costume. She went as a Pokemon character or something,
catch her fair, I.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Don't know, something I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
But and then Sunday she came by just to hey,
hang out, visit, catch up with feet, so you know,
she does she does stop in which I really like,
I want to be that house.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
And it's worked out well.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, I mean, at least you know where, you know
where they are, right, But yeah, I don't. I don't mind,
you know, being the congregation place. But again, I think
that's why it's so noticeable when it's quiet and nobody
is there.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
I know.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
It's just funny how there will be a time when
you're like, yes, but you weren't the other night.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
You know, I thought that was funny.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
So y'all watch Missus Maisel.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, it's a show that we had given a try
the first season and we had dropped it. So it's like,
let's give this one more try. And it was a
very slow episode. I'm sitting here thinking now, not again.
And of course at the end it was great, so
we'll see it picked up.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
There's a lot more than I.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
I wouldn't be able to follow that. Sam I would
not be able to follow.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
That Rachel who was the actress, Rachelhan.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Right, she's the you know, and she is I mean,
she's really very good in the role. That's what keeps
me coming back to because she plays the character so.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Well anything else on television.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
But there's so I mean, there is almost too much
to pick from, you know, it just.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Content if you sat there for thirty minutes, wasting thirty
minutes just trying to decide.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
I mean, I wanted to check out the next you know,
a couple of episodes of David Letterman's My Guest Needs
No Introduction. I didn't.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
I wasn't feeling documentary ish on a Saturday night, though,
