you doing tanya.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Hey, mister McDonald, I'm doing well. How are you okay?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Tell us the name of your business.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
So the name of my business is called Astra Wellness Astro.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Spelled astr and the meaning behind that.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, so Astra means star in French. And so if
you think about it, many years ago, like during the
during slavery, they didn't have GPS systems, they didn't have
a theory. There is no ways that they could navigate with,
so they had to use the stars. And so stars
guide people many years ago, including explorers. And so that

(01:49):
is my endeavor is to guide people to health and wellness.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Now, when you say you have twenty five years of
experience in the healthcare business, twelve years as a certified
registered nurse and the sesologists, that alone, I know, is
a well paid job. That's a way of paid job.
You can get a job as an aatgesiologist nurse. How
why are you an entrepreneur?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Well, I saw a need. As you mentioned before, I
was practicing full time anesthesia at a level one trauma
center here in Macon, Georgia. But my father got sick.
My father fought in the Vietnam War and was suffering
from PTSD and chronic pain, and so he was going

(02:33):
different places and he was just getting worse, to the
point where he was suicidal. And I went to see
him one day. I said, you know what, Dad, you're
just getting worse. I have to pull back from anesthesia
and I'm going to figure out how it is that
I can help you. And so I started doing a
ton of research, and in my research endeavors, I found

(02:54):
that dehydration and poor nutrition will contribute to things like
peasd which he suffered severely from, and chronic pain, which
he suffered severely from. This was during the height of
COVID and there was not a place he could go
to get proper nutrition. The only place he could go
to get IB foods was that the emergency room, and

(03:15):
I didn't want him there with a bunch of COVID people.
The closest place was in Atlanta, and he wasn't going
to go there. And so I said, you know what, Dad,
if you need IV fluids, nutrition, other people in the
community needed as well. And so I'm just going to
satisfy the need in the community and open a place
of my own. And so that's how Astra Wellness was born.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Wow now, can you give us more detail exactly what
is PTSD. I know it stands for post dramatic stress disorder.
What exactly is that? And is it something that can
be calmed down other than and I think that was
your bottom line, trying to achieve that with your dad.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Correct, Yes, that's right. So yeah, So, as I mentioned before,
he fought in the v Vietnam War. He was having
severe flashbacks. The older my dad got, I would go
visit him. He would sit in his room in a
dart room, very anti social. His diet consisted of Coca
colas and cigarettes. He was taking a lot of pay

(04:17):
medicine at the time, and he was just getting worse
and worse and worse. And so all of those flashbacks
from the war were just causing him tremendous problems. Were
to the point where he couldn't function anymore. And so
that's what I in my studies, I found that simple
things you can do, like vitamin D three will help

(04:38):
prevent depression and help treat depression. Something as simple as
vitamin B six will help also to treat depression. And
one thing about taking things by mouth, if you have
a healthy gut, a healthy gi tract. You're still only
going to absorb thirty to forty percent of what you're taking.

(05:00):
But if you have those things infused via ivy or
intraveniously through your veins, then you're going to absorb one
hundred percent of what your body is deficient in. And
that is why so many people feel better almost immediately
when they get infusions via ivy.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Wow. Now your clinic is located in Making, Georgia. You know,
I'm a big city guy. I always feel that. You know,
when you're in a big city, Miss Millions, you will
have more options for customers, more options for clients. And
so did that run through your mind or you felt, hey,
this is a need in this community. Let me feel

(05:39):
the need that you feel isn't available because, like you said,
for your dad, you had to go to Atlanta for treatment.
Tell us where you started and then where are you
headed with your business as far as the success that
you've been having in the Making area with astra wellness?

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Okay, sure, so yes, I've always been affirmed belief in
that movie, if you build it, they will come. So
that is the thing that happened here. Like I said,
there was a big need for it and I believe
that if you can satisfy a need, give the people
what they want, then they will come and support you.

(06:17):
So when I started off, I only had My current
location is six hundred and fifty square feet. I have
been so well received in the area where I and
within three years of opening my business, I was able
to purchase my own commercial building. And so next month
we will be expanding into a three thousand square feet building.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Come on that, Come on that, see you?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
That's what you know.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
If you boxing somebody as a knockout, that was a
knockout to my course. Okay, mister McDonald, I won't tell
you something that I started at six hundred and fifty
square feet. I went out on faith. I went out
to save my dad. Three years, I'm going into a
three thousand square fol which is three two Come on now,
five times nearly five times the space you have. Now, Now,

(07:05):
let's talk about that business plan when you start making
these decisions now, is just self funded or you have
to go to a bank to make this decision to
grow like this?

Speaker 3 (07:16):
No, it is definitely not so fun, dude. I did
have to go to a bank, and a business plan
is so vitally important. And I had no idea to
let me be very transparent for a moment. I originally
when I knew I wanted to expand, I felt like,
oh my god, my credit score is really good. That's
all I need. I was sadly mistaken. You need so

(07:40):
much more. Yes, things like a business plan, knowing your
debt to credit ratio, having an adequate down payment because
you know you're gonna have to put some money down
and show people that you're serious about this investment, right
and you want them to put their trust in you,
so you have to have some skin in the game,
and so all those things. When I first went, I

(08:02):
was so embarrassed. I didn't know what I was doing.
Like I said, my credit explorer is really good, and
I felt like that was all I needed. But something else.
As business owners, I feel like we make mistakes and
is trying to write everything off that will decrease your taxes. Yes,
but you need to show that your business is thriving,
and so you're going to need to show income as

(08:24):
a result of that. And so that was a lesson
that I had to learn when I got my first
note from the bank. Go back, this is what you
need to work on and come back later. That's when
I was able to have all my ducks in a row,
present the business plan, have a good debt to credit ratio,
have my down payment, all those things, and that was

(08:45):
when I was able to get the loan. It took
me about a year to work on that.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
Money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashan McDonald.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
And I'm working with a lot of young entrepreneurs about this,
you know, trying to set them up with bank mentors.
Because don't be embarrassed if you're not ready now, because
that's what you're saying. Rashana went in. I thought I
had I had great credit, you know, I've been in
business for a while. And then I walked in and
I got smacked upside the head saying your business plan

(09:27):
is inadequate, is ill conceived, but we're going to work
with you. I think that really needs to be expounded
more because that's where a lot of people could get
pushed out the door saying, you know, they don't want
to do business with me, They don't want to do
they just making it difficult for me to do business. Yes,
they are. I'm just so that's how it works. But

(09:48):
that doesn't mean you should stop pursuing your dreams. Talk
about that process a little bit more in detail there, Tanya.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah, sure, yeah, that doesn't mean just because they tell
you no. I mean that's not going to last for
racious and not right now. So my best advice what
I did was I established a relationship with a banker.
So what do I mean by a relationship? Will you
go in, you open up an account, You befriend whoever
the person is that helped you open your account up,

(10:15):
and then you start putting your money in there, and
that is how you start establishing a really good foundation
at a bank. Go back and ask them what do
I need to do to get to where I need
to be, and they'll be more than happy to help
you to do that. And that's exactly what I did.
Establish a relationship. I needed to show my financial projections

(10:36):
where I wanted to see my business in the next
three to five years. I had to do like a
financial analysis or I'm sorry, a financial historical analysis, and
they were so gracious they helped me to do that.
I didn't know anything about it. But because I was
starting to establish that relationship with a banker, they helped
me to navigate this whole thing to get to everything

(10:57):
that I needed, and that's how I was able to get.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Secure the well I'm telling you you got the right
voice full Wellness Center. You know, it's not screachy, it's
very calming. You know, it's very soothing. Like that you
walk into her studio, she has that soothing music, water
running in the back world. It's almost like you walk
in and fall asleep immediately. That is the purpose is
to really bring the stress level down when they come

(11:21):
into astro wellness, correct, Tanya, that is.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Correct, Yes, absolutely when people and I tell my people
all the time, when you come across the threshold, I
want you to leave all your tears and concerns outside
the door. I want you to be able to feel
the relaxation, the energy in here so that you can
be stress. Come in, just have a seat, close your eyes,
relax a little bit. Because in the world today, everyone

(11:46):
is rushing, rushing, rushing, right, and so we need to
have a safe place that we can go to and relax,
calm down a little bit. Because believe it or not.
Stress will also affect your mental health, your well being
as well in your physical health.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Now Astra Wellerness has been voted best wellness clinic three
years and low. That's in the city of Making correct.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
That is correct, yes and uh.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
And so now six hundred and fifty square feet just
is not enough for Astra Wellness. She is moving into
over three thousand square feets when we could put the
square three thousand square feet her building. She's purchased it,
sat down with a creative relationship with a banker and
they approved her loan. She put down a down payment
that's always had the great credit score, but she realized

(12:37):
that was not enough. Now when we get back, we're
gonna find out exactly what they do at Astra Wellness.
When you're walking in the well all are they poking
on you? Are they taking your blood pressure? What are
they doing? The details which makes Astra Wellderness so successful.
When we come back, we'll be talking to the owner,
Tanya Millions Finch. Don't go no well, I'm here to

(12:59):
help you reach your American dream. I'm interviewing the owner
and founder of Astral Wildness. It's based in Atlanta and
Making Georgia, excuse me, making Georgia and twelve years as
a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist, that's what she was doing,
making good money now, but she has a dream, had
a vision, and now her six hundred and fifty square

(13:19):
feet location that she's currently in is not enough. She
has expanded and has purchased a building over three thousand
square feet and now she's moving in well, as we
moved to this next direction. What are you so proud
of most about your company?

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Tell ya, the thing that I'm most proud of is
the response that I have received from the community. I
had the backing of a lot of my colleagues from
the hospital, a lot of my physician colleagues, to the
point where they will start referring their patients here because
there's a big difference. So one of the reasons, let

(13:57):
me just back up a moment that I am expanding,
is because now I send my clients out to different
places for the services that they need, and so in
my head, I wanted to create a place where they
can just come and get everything they need, like a
one stop shop kind of place. And so that's why
I need it somewhere larger. Currently, I'm doing ivhydration. I

(14:21):
have a medical weight loss program. I also have an
esthetition that does facial black services. She does chemical pills,
body contouring, those types of things. At my new location,
I'm going to be focusing in on overall health and wellness,
anything that's anti aging, anti inflammatory, teaching people proper lifestyle changes,

(14:47):
because it's my belief we don't have to just exists
that we can thrive in life. We don't just have
to feel good, but we want to feel our optimum.
And so so many people come in with different problems
that are not being prot really addressed, and so as
a result of that, I'll start offering what's called functional medicine.
Functional medicine is very different from conventional medicine. Conventional medicine

(15:11):
is you go to your doctor, you get lab work,
everything is fine, and they won't treat you until things
go awright. But with functional medicine, my job is to
prevent things from going awright, so we treat you on
a cellular level. The goal is to find out the
root cause of what is going on with you, address

(15:34):
the root cause, fix that, and not just put a
band aid on the symptoms. Does that make sense?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Absolutely. Now I'm going to move something that you talked
about anti agent. Okay, bore over here at that anti
agent stage, I'm trying to fight off the time. I'm
trying to I'm trying to get a wrinkled to look straight.
I'm trying to move a bag and make it bagless.
I'm trying to do anything in my face to give
me an up.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
So somebody you look good for your age, you shout.
That's a couple of moments I want in my life
right now. Okay, how does the anti aging process work
at your that you provide we're at astra wellness.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Okay, so yeah, one of the things that my goal
is to treat you from the inside out. I believe
that if you treat the inside, the outside will show.
And so the main thing is to de curious inflammation.
What that means is whether it's with your diet, mighty fluids,
proper vitamins, proper nutrition, all of those things, if they

(16:34):
are not where they should be, they're going to cause inflammation.
And inflammation is what contributes to wrinkles, hyper pigmentation bags
underneath your eyes. If your lymphatic system is not flowing,
it's going to be backed up, and that's what's going
to cause the swelling or those bags. So that's one thing.
Another thing is I have a skin care line, a

(16:54):
medical grade skin care line too, and so all of
that is anti aging. I will also have at my
new location a hyperari ozone chamber. Ozone therapy is very
anti agent, and infrared saana you'll detox, you detox all
the toxins from your body. Then all of those things
will be anti agent. A massage therapist, and then we'll

(17:17):
also do things like botox to prevent wrinkles or help
treat wrinkles. And fillers because the older you get, the
more fat loss you will have in your face. And
so with a filler you can build that up, rebuild
a matrix of your space back up to give you
that youthful book.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Oh you know what you're saying now, and got me
ready to register and call in some reservations and things
like that make it. But you know when you thank
you for that detail, because I think it's important to
people understand. You know, your move was just not to
get a bigger space. It will supervide more opportunities to
create cash flow within your business model, which is the key,

(17:55):
and I think that was one of the things you
pitched to the bank as well.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Correct, Yes, that is correct. Yes, I was very clear
on the people that I wanted to service in the area.
Because when you go to the bank, you have to
know what you who your target audience is, who you are,
your avatar, whatever you want to call them. You have
to know who those people are going to be because
they're going to want to know. Okay, so you have

(18:18):
this great idea, but how are you going to fund it?
Where you have to have the income coming in, so
you have to be crystal clear on who your target
audience is.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Wow, what is your biggest accomps from complishment so far?
You will feel, you know, because I know that you
told an incredible story about your father really motivated you
to moving this direction and walk away from a full
time successful job. But what do you feel is your
biggest acc accomplishment so far?

Speaker 3 (18:46):
I'm going to tell you. So let me back up
with my dad just a moment. So I found my
location in October of twenty twenty. December fifth, teen of
twenty twenty, I had just put my patient to sleep
under anesthesia and my phone rang and it was a

(19:08):
family member, and my family they know when I'm at
the hospital, you know, don't call her. She's busy. And
so it was my dad's sister and she said, Tanya,
has anybody called you? And I was like, oh my god,
if my dad isn't it. She said yes, My father
dropped dead that morning, about thirty minutes prior to the
phone call from a rupture a order aneurism. That put

(19:32):
me into such a deep depression. Okay, I stopped doing everything.
I could only go home, go to sleep, go to
the hospital. Go home, go to sleep, go to the hospital.
But I had to remember my wife and I said, Tanya,
what are you doing? You promised your dad you would
help him and other people. So I had to just

(19:56):
snap myself out of that depression. Right. So other was
the catalyst to get my business started. But it's the
people in my community who are helping me to keep
that going. And so that is my biggest accomplishment, the
fact that I can offer people in my community a
service that is bodily needed. And people know when you're genuine.

(20:18):
They know when you're genuine, and so that is what
keeps them coming back. And I will have to say
just myself being able to rise above that depression, remember
my why, and to be a successful business owner to
the point where I can purchase a commercial space. That's
my biggest accomplishment in my business.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Congratulations. I'm gonna turn this little bit on Raushan here.
You know, because I've I've had a lot of high
profile celebrity guys in my life and over the years, friends, strangers,
and they have always went to these wellness centers like
you've created, and I never saw a need for that.

(20:58):
I mean, they would get the vitamins, like you said,
injected directly into them. You kind of talked about the
value of that as we close out the show, talk
about the value again of what Astra wellness brings and
why the importance of receiving certain types of vitamins that
way versus like I traditionally do two pills a day

(21:22):
or pill a day when I wake up in the morning.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Sure. Yeah, So normally we are supposed to get vitamins, minerals,
nutrition from our food. Right as we all know the
food industry, the food is contaminated, everything is genetically modified,
the soil is depleted of nutrients, and so now as

(21:46):
a result, we're not getting what we need from food.
Couple that with poor eating habits, high sugar diet, high
processed foods, not drinking enough water. So all of that
stuff destroys our gut, all right, and so the majority
of people don't have a healthy gut. So as a result,
when you take a pill by mouth or you think

(22:08):
you're eating a healthy diet, if your gut biome is off,
the gut environment is off, you're not going to absorb
what you need. So that's why so many people can
take pills or you know, vitamins and still not feel
the effects of that. When you start an IV, you
bypass the whole digestive tract. Those nutrients are going to
go directly into your veins, where your body is going

(22:31):
to absorb one hundred percent of what you need. And
that's why people feel so much better so quickly. Like here,
I have a whole COVID protocol. I treat people who
are overweight. I treat people who are depressed, who are
stressed out, who suffer from insomnia. I have people who
have hair, skin and nail issues that I treat. I
have college students who come in and they just need

(22:53):
an infusion to help them think better for their exam
or I have a lot of people that I'm treating
with dementia, and so I do all of that by
bypassing the digestive tract, giving them exactly what they need
through my customized infusions, and in that way they're going
to absorb it and feel defects of it. Ninety six
percent of my clients feel better almost immediately.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
So, so how do we go about contacting you? I
know you're in Macon, Georgia your ods of operation and
also do you can one go online? And if so,
tell us how to go online if we want to
find out more information about Astra Wellness or setting an appointment.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Sure, so, yes, you can book an appointment online. My
website is www dot Astra Wellness dot com and let
me spell that as and Adam s Is and Sam
Tias and Tom Ris and Richard i As and Edward
