Speaker 1 (00:00):
Robin Terrily Kim on Brisbane's Kiss ninety seven three. But
right now we're continuing on our catfish story.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
We've got Annie and Jane back on the line now.
Jane first notified us about her sister in law Annie,
who it seems may well have been catfished a guy,
Annie who says he's an Australian living in South Africa
with a Swedish accent. Is that right? Thank you? And

(00:29):
you were supposed to meet him at the airport and
he didn't front and so you want some help. Now
we have got a PI by the name of Pi Dave.
He has heard all of your story.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Hey Dave, morning, guys.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
What do you think.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Well, I'm actually just picking my jaw up off the
ground actually, But look, it's all too common these days unfortunately.
But look, let's see if we can help Annie and
see if we can get some answers for her.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Hey, do you think just hearing the story as you've
heard it so far, Dave, do you think any chance
for this hope that Annie's hanging on to. Is there
any chance that this is a legitimate man?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Look, I'd say to be slim, I don't want to
burst her bubble, but I'd say the chances of that
are very slim from the story that I've heard. Look,
there's a couple of avenues that I can look down.
You know, these people are professionals and what they do
and that's the hardest thing. They've done this numerous times before,
so they are very good at covering their tracks. But look,
let's see what we can uncover.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Okay, So how long do you think it will take you?
And what sort of stuff will you do? Because it's
in South Africa or do you think it's not in
South Africa?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Look, if I was a betting man, I'd say that
the person would not be in South Africa. But I've
got a few details there that we can start. Obviously,
you know, he's alleging that he is from Redcliff. Let's
follow that line and see if there is any sort
of trail that links him back to that Red Cliff
area or the Brisbane era anyway, and see if his story,
you know, initially starts to have some resemblance of truth.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Okay, Well, p I Dave, go to it, do whatever
it is you have to do. How long do you
yeah go get him? How long do you think it
will take you look.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Give us a couple of days. We'll chose a feel
of these leads and see where that takes us.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Thank you so much. Thanks how Dave, Yeah, we'll let
you go. But Annie, how do you feel about that?
I'd just like an answer.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I mean, I feel foolish, but if it is true,
that would be wonderful.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
But if it's an absolute catfish, I have.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
To own that.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Anie. Can I say to you, don't feel foolish because
you're not the first. There's so many people that get
sucked into these things. These people are this is what
they do. They're brilliant at it. They're brilliant at making
you feel in love. And people do stupid things when
they're in love. People do crazy stuff. People travel across
the world when they're in love. People leave their lives

(02:44):
behind when they're in love. So you've just done what
people do when they're in love. And it just, you know,
it looks like somebody has lied to you in the
most disgusting of ways. And that doesn't make you foolish.
That makes you loyal, and it makes you somebody who
loves and that's all of us really, you know, thanks
for that.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And you sound like a lovely, lovely, lovely person. So
thank you very much and we'll be in contact as
soon as we've got some information, Thanks so much.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
All right, watch this space, Oh man, it's just heartbrising,
isn't it.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Fingers crossed, Yah.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
It's improvant.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Terry and Kidd on Brisbane's Cheers at ninety seventy three
