Speaker 1 (00:00):
Robin Terrill Kip on Brisbane's Kiss ninety seven three. A
few days ago, Jane called our show to tell us
about her sister in law Annie and what she suspected
was a cat fishing situation. We got the story. It
seemed incredible, it didn't seem real, so we got our
private investigator PI Dave in on the case to do
(00:22):
some fishing of his own try and work out where
we're at. So it's update time.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Hi Annie, Hi, how you feeling this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I'm expecting the worst, so any news will be good news,
I suppose if there is any news.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Okay, we've got your sister in law, Jane. Who's your
support person? You there, Jane, I am great, let's do this.
PI Dave. When we spoke to you guys yesterday, he
was going off to do some investigating. How did you go, Dave.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Well, I've done some inquiries like I said I would,
and unfortunately, I probably haven't got any good news for you. Annie.
Initially conducted to some computer based searches from the details
that you gave me of this gentleman's name and address.
There's absolutely no record of this man anywhere on any
(01:10):
databases that we have access to There is no electronic
footprint of him at all, which means he's never owned
any property, never rented anywhere, has no licenses, no vehicles.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
How common is that? I mean, that's almost impossible, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
It's very uncommon. Most people have some footprint somewhere. For
someone to have absolutely no information or data on them
is nearly impossible these days. So I'd be suggesting that
it's an absolute fake name. So this person is using
and a fake person in himself.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
This is not great news for any first up, you're
right there.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, on, I thought I was prepared for the word,
but to know that's not good?
Speaker 5 (01:53):
What about the leads for address Redcliff and places to
mention like that?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
As you recall, And he was able to me with
the address that this gentleman said that he owned and
had lived there for a number of years. I've attended
on that address and spoken with the occupants of that
particular unit and that unit complex. They've lived there for
four years, and they have never heard of this male person,
(02:17):
nor have they ever seen this male person from the
photos that I had shown them. Further to that, I
also was and then able to speak with the real
estate agents that had managed this complex for a number
of years, and again they'd never heard of this male person,
nor again have they seen any persons depicted, you know,
in the photos that I was able to show them.
(02:40):
The actual complex itself is a smaller complex of about
eight units. I've spoken to each and every person of
that unit complex. Again they've never heard of any such
person existing as owning a unit, and also they've never
seen anyone by the photographs that I've shown them. So
all in all, all the inquiries reveal that this person
(03:02):
is you know, fake, is fictitious.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Annie. I've spent the last sort of couple of days
since we first spoke to you, trying to put myself
in your shoes. And I'm in a similar situation. You know,
I've lost my husband and I'm back at online dating,
and I believe in love more than anything in the
whole world, and so I've tried to think about if
I if I believe I'm in love with someone and
(03:26):
they're telling me these things, And you're now hearing the
exact opposite to what you're being told, what you have
been told, where is your mind and heart going? Are
you trying to make excuses I think.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I've already made too many excuses because I kept investing
into it, literally thinking that you would have a future
because you think that you're supporting somebody that you love.
But that's what you do, right you. Yeah, try you
ten to do that. But now to know that it's
(04:03):
going to take me years to recover that money that
I've lost, that really hurts. Trusting is going to be
a big issue.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I think, Yeah, Okay, Annie, look let's just take a
break now because there's a really important question that I
need to ask you next.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
We've gotten to know Annie over the last couple of days,
so her sister in law Jane introduced her to the show,
saying she was worried that Annie was being catfish. So
we got our PI Dave yesterday on the show, PI
Dave was asked a task with the mission of finding
out who this guy was and if he even existed her.
This was Annie's feelings yesterday.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
I'd just like an answer.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
I mean, I feel foolish, but if it is true,
that will be wonderful. But if it's an absolute catfish,
I have to own that.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
And unfortunately, that is what Annie has just found out
from PI Dave. Yep, she says, she's okay. Are you okay?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Annie? I have to say that in my mind last Becau,
I'm so angry because I was already at that point,
so this isn't real. I was thinking, should I cat
fishing back? Yeah? Like what other information can I suck
out you to prove that what university did you go to?
(05:20):
And where did you live in Stockholm or wherever? Actually
try and get that other information, just to trace him
down further, because I was I might be nice and sleep,
but I don't like to be crossed like that.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Dave, is that of course you'd recommend that people do that.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Not usually? I mean, yeah, I wouldn't recommend that they
engage in any sort of conduct like that. I would
cut all ties to him, right and you know, report
the matter to you know, the official people that need
to deal with this, then catch him that way.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
But you are in a position of power now, Annie,
the moment that you go actually, I know you're full
of shit, Then all of a sudden you're in this
position of you know that he's lying. He doesn't know
that you know.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
But yeah, we are not recommending you catfishing potentially.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
But I was thinking, I would record the conversation so
I could actually get that information.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
As a radio station.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
We would love that. But before we get to that, Dave,
because there's a big amount of money he's gone here,
is there any parts of investigation you can still pursue,
because that would be a different investigation, wouldn't it.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, definitely, some of the information that Annie's been able
to provide to me some details of where she deposited
some money and that came in Australia. So that is
something that I'll be doing in the next few days,
checking out where this money has been deposited and who
owns that.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
So is there any potential we could find that money?
Speaker 4 (06:40):
There is, absolutely there is. Hopefully it hasn't been sent
or short to this gentleman. Certainly an avenue that I'm
going to be inquiring, you know, according to extensively in
the next couple of days. So stay tuned for that one. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
So go Dave and hold the phone. Annie.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Can I just say, Annie, the one thing that I'm
loving about this conversation is in the last couple of
days we've spoken to a woman who's felt hopeless and broken,
and just in that moment when you heard it, wasn't true,
and you, like we saw, we heard this change in you.
So let's give Dave some time and potentially let's see
(07:17):
what we can find out about the money and maybe,
just maybe we could get your some back.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
That would be great. But I'm not counting on it.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
No, don't. But at least you know where it went.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
I take the accountability for that, and I've worked out
my budget and I know that it's going to baby
basically until two thousand and twenty five for me to recover.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
It gives a crack, bring it back a couple of months.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
You're right.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Listen to the change and Annie's voice. The truth has
set you free.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, thank you, Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Guy, Thank you, Janah, thank you Annie.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
It's not over
Speaker 2 (07:57):
And kids on Bristone's Kiss three
