So, yes, I caught up with my mate Rabs the
other day. Normally I would see him at the radio
awards of.

Course, the Acres, which happened last weekend in Sydney, but
he wasn't there.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
He was there, Oh, somehow we did not find each
other on the night. We said messages going what table
you on? And you know, I knew he was on
sixty six, I was on eleven, and were just never
caught up.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Really yeah, and I found you on stage.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I know, yes, that's true, that's true, but you know
you do get busy at that yeah, and his station
at a different after party to ours, and so yeah, so
I didn't see him. So when we thought, okay, well
let's call and catch up because we we you know,
at least once a year we need to talk to
each other.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I do love that about male relationships. You don't need
to speak off and to be able to pick up
where you left exactly and seven years ago.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
And I said to him, right at the start of
the conversation, I said, here you go, mate, you're good,
he said, he said, no, I'm not. Okay, And straight away, okay, okay,
this is not going to be a quick chat because
things are going on. So I went, I grabbed my
water bottle and I headed over to the fridge where
we've got one of those water dispensers on the front
of the fridge, and I filled up my water.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
This is gonna be a great story if we've got
sound effects right.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Straight away, goes, Wait a minute, are you having a
piss right now? Again?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
A fair enough question.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yes, and I've got no I know that that sounds
exactly like it, but no, I'm just filling up my water.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
He would not be taking a phone into the toilet.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
You just wouldn't. Rabs is the kind of bloke I
reckon we could do that. He'd be okay with that
mean the fact that he even asked me, you know
what I mean, he wasn't mad at me.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Okay, And we've got the ability to be hydrated.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yes and yes and so. But then I had I
had a list of things to do that was massive
on that afternoon, and I was like, I've got to
get stuff done, and and it was memory. It was windy,
so windy that a couple of days ago, and I
had promised the elderly lady next door, Nikki, that I

would chop back her plants for her. We have these
trees that are like on our boundary and they swing
in the in the breeze and they hit the top
of her house and she said, stays away. Yeah, she said,
can you please you know, because she can't do it,
would you mind? I said, I'll get it done. That
was two weeks ago, and I was like, I got
to do this. I got to do it. And it's windy.
And so while I was on the phone to Rabs,

I put in my little airbod AirPods or whatever they call,
and I have my phone in my pocket and I
got my I got my saw, my electric saw, and
so so Rabs told me his story about what's going
on with him at work, which went for about an hour, okay,
And in that time I removed four trees.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
So did you intend to start like that? Did you
say to him, Look, I really want to hear what
you have to say, but I've got to cut down
these trees.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I didn't. In fact, I never told him that I
was doing that. I just had to. I had to
work on and I try to do it as quietly
as possible.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
So with a sawer on a tree, it was windy,
No no, he had no idea.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Guess what what Ruth, our producer, asked him this morning.
He said, did you know what was happening? And he
said no, he didn't hear it. So he was so
in depth telling me about what was going on that
he didn't notice that I chopped down four four trees,
prune them and disposed of them down the backyard all
in the time of our conversation.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
We can't actually speak to him because, believe me, I
want to, because he works for another network and that's
not you know, we can't do that. But so, okay,
I just did you intend when this conversation started to
do that?

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I didn't, but I intend like my afternoon was like
I'm going to chop those trees down.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
This afternoon, okay, was what he was telling you? Important?

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yes to him, very important to him. It didn't affect
me at all, but you no, not at all. It
was very important to him because you know, and I
need to listen to him, and but I think what
he needed to do was just download.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Right, So you were sounding bored and you just had
to make grunts or sore noises at a various points
him to be able to just keep you know you
needed to stay in the room.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, I just go Man, that's that sounds rough.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Can I ask you did you try and offer him
a solution? No?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I didn't. Actually, Oh so you.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Are capable of actually having conversations without solution. Just we
just need to get you doing something else.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yes, multitask, which is another thing that I can't normally
do it with raps.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
So were you bored?

Speaker 1 (04:40):
No? I wasn't bored. No, it was you know, it
was a good download. There was a lot of information there,
and there was a couple of times where he needed
to circle back and sort of get his own thoughts right,
and that was okay.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
And were you contributing to that at all?

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Or you were just worrying about the branch was just
getting getting rid of branches? And then so what are
you asking me? Well, do you think that's okay? Do
you think it's all? I mean, I know it's not great.
I know it's not great friendship, but I feel like
it was good. I feel like it was a B
A B A B. Plus.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I'm just gonna sit here and let you talk yourself
through this, because I know, I'm pretty sure you know
it was a crappy thing to.

Speaker 1 (05:21):

to say anything if you just left Kip hang himself.

He doesert all alone. A terrible friend.
