Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wake up with Robin Terry and Kip.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Terry's back this morning, back from Spain, back on the show.
He's had quite a walk, a good walk the El
Camino del Noort.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
It's beautiful, stunning in every moment. I wish, I wish.
I'm so annoyed at myself. I should have bet you.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, because when you left, You're like, no, there's no purpose.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I'm just doing it to be with my brother.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
And I'm like, you'll find a purpose, mate, Like this
is the whole point you're supposed to you know, it's
a pilgrimage.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
I was haunted by that, Robin. That's exactly the speech
I heard. All went down. And people do walk with
great purpose, and and other people just walk because they're
good trekkers. Their fit is challenging, it's beautiful. There is
enough in there for that purpose. But of all the
different reasons I found, I talked about the lady who's
struggling with we don't have to be a whistleblower, and
people who were getting past tragedies in their life. The
(00:51):
thing that actually annoyed me about the commune was, in
some ways a little bit with people like me. I
found there were some people who are walking here were
just passing the time. They weren't advancing whatever was troubling them.
They were just passing the time toet period. I'm not
a person who can just pass.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
You don't pass time.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, And it's on those.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Days when you're walking really tough terrain that you need
a reason to be going further. So, in fact, when
my knee blew out and I had to stop at
six hundred kilometers, I was still happy because I had
walked some beautiful, beautiful places and walked six hundred walked
six hundred klometers. But it actually it brought me back
to what's been happening with us this year. The listeners
would know that I've taken a sort of a step away,
(01:30):
roll off and outside the studio, which I also love
to do, chatting to people out in the streets.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And I actually had always thought.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
And they had talked to Manage about leaving at the
end of this year, because you guys are rocking it up,
and you're rocking up towards a double act. You know,
You've been working on my way on that all throughout
the year, and I've been very happy to take that role.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Well that's gone down.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
There's always been a place for your test I never ever, ever, ever,
let me be.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Very clear about that.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
But when it came to coming back and coming back
for another six weeks to finish out the years as
I would have, I got there and I felt like
those people on the track and you just you're just
walking it. You're just you're just passing time doing things.
I do have other things I want to go back towards.
Kids are both graduating in theater now, my wife's performing.
I feel a massive passion to get back on the stage,
(02:18):
both in stand up and in theater.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Is he going to go and annoy them? Yeah, that's right.
Can't wait to be rehearsing the house with me there
as well.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
But to me, rather than wait till the end of
the year, you guys have been going nuts. I've seen
your socials, you know, with what's going on with the
show in the last month, I'd rather step away now.
In fact, I'd rather step away right now and finish
it up and move to the next chapter.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Oh here we go, she's gone.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I'm allowed to bugging you, but it's you know, it's
the right time. We're all doing good things. We're all
going good places. And that's the thing I learned for
the Camino. Go where you're going, don't wait around, get
to the next step, go to the next challenge.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah, yeah, this is this.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
This is a very rare moment in radio for those
that don't know that. You know, Terry, we've been talking
about it for a year, that you sort of were
winding up and that you'd had enough and that your
passion was theater. But to have this moment that you
can actually step away by choice.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
And I'll be marched out by security guards.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yes, yes, we've got yeah, twenty thirty staff outside the
studio right now who'd love you and have loved working
with you. And it's going to be hard, man, it's
going to be hard without you here because you bring
in a lot of joy.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
You make us funny.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
It'd be funny, funny, peculiar.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yes, yeah, but okay.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
The decision is now and for good reasons, but it
really is. Yes, Robin, I learned for the Camino next challenge,
move on and praise.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
It, crying when I'm right.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
You knew he'd.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Find it purpose and that has its own special joy
for me as well. Well.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Thank you for the memories. Thank you for everything that
you've done for everyone in this room. And we've got
a whole bunch of stuff in here who came to
say goodbye and to thank you.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Terry Hansen, Yeah, and thank you Robin, especially the last
fifteen years, Ruthie. And there's a lot of team been
here a long time in a short time, and everybody
in the building life us all.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
And I'll be sending you fly for my next show. Great. Yeah,
and the listeners, oh my god, Yes, and wake up
Speaker 2 (04:27):
With Robin, Terry and Kim
