Speaker 1 (00:01):
Emmy season is kicked off Wednesday. As this year's Emmy
Award nominees were announced, we want to acknowledge our very
own Steve Harvey. That's right, Steve Harvey for an Emmy
nomination for Outstanding Host for a Game Show. Congratulations Steve
for your work on Celebrity Family Feud. There is a
(00:22):
full list of Emmy nominees on Steve Harvey fm dot com,
so you can go there and check them out. The
seventy six Emmy Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, September
fifteenth from the Peacock Theater, n l A.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, up early, Can you pick them up early? Now?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
It's some time they have those ceremonies. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Well, I'm just saying Steve he is now, because who's
gonna be?
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Who else gonna get it? Elementary?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
That's my show? Right shows? Great?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, congratulations, Yeah, happy for Steve. All right, moving on
to other entertainment news. Did you guys know that Skip
Bayless is leaving Undisputed? Have you heard that he's leaving?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
So I didn't know, I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Well, this is according to the New York Post. Bayless
will leave the show and be replaced by Michael Irvin
and Keishawn Johnson. It's reported that since June of last year,
after Shannon Sharp left Undisputed Skipped, Bayless failed to keep
his audience as engaged as they were when Sharp was
hosting alongside him. So what do you guys think of
(01:33):
Keishawn and Michael Irvin as hosts of Perfect?
Speaker 2 (01:38):
I love it Perfect? You know what that means? So, y'all,
that means there's two new black jobs. That's what all
I got out of it, Just got new black jobs.
Congratulations of them too. They were deserving and they know
the game. They know it back was forward, and they're
(01:59):
just good at what they do. So it's gonna be good.
It's gonna be a good show, come telling. Yeah, I
watch all right?
Speaker 1 (02:05):
So moving on, we all love Tyler Perry. Of course,
we love Tyler Perry, no question. He's a family member.
And we love comedian Lonnie Love as well. But let's
talk about how Lonnie Love is trending. After she took
to X to offer her advice to Tyler, screen Rant
shared on X that Tyler's latest movie, Divorce in the Black,
(02:25):
got zero percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Lonnie responded with
this post. She said, I love that Tyler is paying
black actors now. She loves that he's paying black actors.
She said she wishes he would hire black writers and
directors who have the experience to help him with his movies.
He can improve the movies and make them award worthy
(02:46):
if he would stop trying to save money by doing
the writing and directing himself. Wow. In a twenty twenty interview,
Tyler Perry admitted that he doesn't hire writers for any
of his projects. Tyler said, I have no writer's room.
Nobody writes any of my work. I write it all.
So what do you guys think about that? Let's talk
(03:07):
about it. I mean, do you Tyler hire black writers
and directors there are plenty of them out there, or
what's your take on it? Because ty Tyler does and
has been doing all the work.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Y'all gonna throw me out in the spot. Okay, let
me say that I think Careful could be in a movie.
But let me just be real. I just I'm just
gonna be as real as I can. I think there's
some phenomenal writers, and there are there's some phenomenal directors
out there that can do the job. I say open
up the floodgates. I say, let some of those people in. Now,
(03:44):
I'm just gonna be as real as I can. That
was a moment where Tyler was accepting material and I
went through the formality of sending in a project that
I thought was going to be incredible. I say, man,
Tyler's gonna love this. Never I never got a response.
I don't think it was Tyler. I think it's the
system that I went through. My I don't think my
information ever got looked at. So I just don't know
(04:05):
how that works. So I'm I'm not privy to know
on all of that, how that works, how that machine works.
It was very difficult for me and that we never
discussed it, never talked about it. I don't bring it up.
If I see him, I don't bring it up. I
just it just didn't happen. But I do think there
are good writers that that Tyler should be comfortable using.
I think there's great directors out there that Tyler could
be comfortable using.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
The thing is, though, is she's saying, first of all,
she started with Lonnie Love. I'm glad that he's paying
access now, So is this is this kind of shady?
Is she's saying he's cheap, that's why he wants to
do it all? Or does Tyler want to do it
all because he can do it all?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
That he has that right to do it all. If
he wants to do it all, he definitely has that right.
But I definitely commend him on plant the way he
pays people. I worked for Tyler. Tyler paid me. I
was getting checked. I didn't even know what's going I
got like two three. But yeah, so Tyler pays you right,
and he takes care of you and and and he
(05:07):
treats you with with with the most kindness and respect
on on the set and as you as you do
to him. He ain't Tyler. I call him mister Perry
when we out.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
There, buddy, you know, Tommy, let me add to that.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
You know, I didn't know when it was gonna ever
come into play, but this is the perfect time. You know.
I'm nothing against Lennie Love or Tyler, but as an
Emmy nominated writer there writer and producer myself, Uh, if
you just called Tyler, I'm available for any project. Just
(05:42):
didn't know what I was gonna get to use that.
I thought it was just a perfect time. So if
you're talking about writing and producer as an Emmy nominated
producer and writing for talk show Steve, I'm available whenever
you need. That's all. I'm stunned because I love it.
I'm for to six. I have to just say this now.
(06:03):
Everybody was well, let somebody get a birthday. They start
bringing it in man.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
That's right, that's right, all right. Finally, on a saturder note,
our condolencers are going out to the Bryant family and
the loss of Joe Jellybean Bryant, the father of the
late Great Kobe Bryant. Joe Jellybean Bryant attended Lausal and
he went on to play with the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
He passed away from a massive stroke. According to the
(06:27):
Philadelphia Inquirer, he was sixty nine years old.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
And he was a bad boy out there when he played.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Coming up in twenty minutes after the hour, we'll talk
about President Biden's interview with B. E. T. S. Ed Gordon.
Right after this, you're listening Hardy Morning Show.
