Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am really looking forward to talking to these two
ladies right now. I have been so fortunate to have
delivered both of my miracle babies at Southern Hills Hospital
here in town. Both experiences were out of this world,
absolutely incredible. So honestly, I am honored right now to
introduce you to Kristin Boyle. She is a director at

(00:23):
Southern Hills Hospital and Amy Baker a manager at Southern
Hills Hospital in the women's department. So we're going to
chat today and learn more about the incredible facility that
I've been able to experience twice now when bringing both
of my miracle babies into this world. So let's get started.
Kristin and Amy, for those out there who don't know you,

(00:43):
introduce yourselves and tell us about your background.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
My name is Kristin and my background is neonatal nursing.
I am going on almost twenty years of being a
neonatal nurse. I started my career at Sunrise Hospital and
have moved over to Southern Hills in twenty seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
And I'm Amy and I am the Women's services manager
at Southern Hills and I have been an ob nurse
for thirty years now. Mostly specializing in high risk pregnancies.
So that is me.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So I know that Southern Hills Hospital just recently celebrated
it's one year anniversary of receiving Level three nick You designation.
So for people out there who don't know, what does
that mean exactly for patients here in the southwest community
of Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Well, it means that we are now able to service
this side of the community. We are able to provide
services to high risk obstetrical patients and high risk neonates.
And so this allows us to keep mom and baby together.
And it's a long overdue service that we are so

(01:58):
excited to offer.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Oh yeah, yes, now we can handle those high risk
pregnancies all the way down to twenty four weeks. If
baby's born at Southern Hills, we can keep that baby
in our NICU and take great care of it and
being right down the hall for mom instead of them
having to get shipped across town.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I feel like I could list a million reasons, but
I want to hear from both of you. What do
you think makes Southern Hills Hospital so special?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, we have an amazing team of highly skilled nurses
who routinely care for these high acuity, obstetrical patients, neonatal patients.
In addition, we are a unit that takes pride in
the care we provide to every patient. We truly care
like family and we want to make sure that every

(02:45):
patient that comes into the department feels like family and
has the absolute best experience possible. We pay a lot
of attention to detail, making sure that every little piece
of the experience is perfect. We want their room to
be perfect, their meals to be perfect. We want them
to really feel like they are our absolute top priority.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
We really try to go above and beyond for every
person to make them feel like they are special. Their
experience is the most important one ever. Obviously, everyone will
have great memories of their delivery and when their baby
came into this world, and so we really focus on
trying to go above and beyond for every single patient
every day, making sure that they feel that we care

(03:31):
for them, we care for their family, their baby. We
focus a lot on finding mission moments, and I think
at Southern Hills people comment all the time about how
it's a beautiful hospital, but then they feel the people
are really special too. We have just something extra special
with each of our staff members across the whole every
area of the hospital. I feel like from the cafeteria

(03:53):
to the housekeepers, everybody is just so friendly and warm
and welcoming. And we hear comments all the time about
that from people, from visitors and patients.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yeah. Absolutely, And you know, we have amazing services that
we offer as well. We've got a beautiful celebration meal
that every single family will receive, you know, after they
move over to postpartum. We have beautiful luxury suites that
they are more than welcome to request on arrival if

(04:22):
they're looking to have that luxurious experience with us, and
you know, we offer you know, if they wanted to
have decoration services, we can help provide that or you know,
set that up for them.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
We have afternoon tea service with snacks.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
That did that. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
We just try to do all the little touches that
make it extra special.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah. And Southern Hills has a variety of amazing classes
we offer. We've got childbirth classes prior to if they're
trying to prepare before they come in for their delivery.
We offer a Daddy boot Camp, which is real popular
with the dads you know that come in, give them
a little bit of exposure and try to figure out,
you know, sometimes they feel like they're still trying to,

(05:06):
you know, learn what is to be expected. And then
in addition, we've got prenatal yoga, and after baby's born,
we have baby and me yoga. So Southern Hills has
so many amazing things that is offered to the community
and it's just wonderful. Like I said, you know, now
that we've gone to that level three Nikki status, we

(05:27):
are able to provide full service to the community and
taking care of those high risks of cetrical and neonatal patients.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
I tell everybody I meet how incredible Southern Hills Hospital
is in the unbelievable experience I had both times delivering
my son Brock and my daughter Isabella, so I know
firsthand from delivering there twice how amazing the care actually is.
What do you think it is about Southern Hills Hospital
that makes the care experience top tier?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I'm going to echo what Amy shared earlier. From the
minute you step in the doorway to the hospital, you
can feel the care from the volunteers to the person
who greets you when you first walk into the unit,
who checks you in. You know, all of our nurses, physicians,

(06:18):
lab X ray everybody. We are truly a family and
a team, and patients feel that, they feel that collaboration,
they feel that warmth and that way, they really feel
like we do care for them like family and they
feel like they're part of our family during their stay.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
We've handpicked an really incredible team of nurses, surgical texts,
patient care texts that just are the cream of the crop,
and they work beautifully together. I think every time we
ask patients how is your experience, they said, from top
to bottom, every single person that came to my room
was amazing. How do you do that? How does that happen?

(06:58):
And I love hearing that because I've I feel like
I've had a hand in hiring all those people, and
we just only take the best of the best, so
they patients feel that and we keep it just really
high standards and we are constantly educating and keeping up
with the latest evidence based practice, and that's how we
just provide amazing care.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Southern Hills Hospital is part of the Sunrise Health System
that's so important in emergency situations, So talk to us
more about how important it is having access to Sunrise
Children's Hospital here in town.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
It is actually a huge gift that we have such
a great collaboration between our facilities here in town. HCA
as a whole has great collaborative care, but for those
rare circumstances where an infant may need ECMO or cardiac procedure,

(07:52):
surgical procedures, we are a direct tie to that facility
and it helps bridge for those patients who would require
those interventions. It helps for easy transition, and that's where
we really lean on them the most.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Absolutely, they have a wonderful pediatric and neonatal transport team,
and knowing that we can call them and they'll come
and get a bit an infant that needs that specialized
care is a really wonderful service for us.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Thank you so much, ladies, Kristen Boyle, director and Amy Baker,
manager from Southern Hills Hospital their Women's Department. It's been
a pleasure talking with the both of you. And for
