(00:00):
And a happy Friday friend. Welcometo the Thoughts Shower. My name is
Interns John. I can report theair conditioning now working in the studio if
you listen to the podcast on Wednesday. When I came in, it was
a ball me eighty six degrees anddidn't start to work until maybe five forty

(00:22):
five in the morning ish. Andof course it was a thing where eventually
it turned on and Eric was like, did you push the on button?
I go, yes, I pushedthe on button. That was the worst.
Had almost the nightmare situation yesterday too, got home from work, went
to go do dishes. By that, I mean push the button button,
wouldn't push dishwasher. We're not turnedon or off. And I was like,

(00:46):
this is gonna be a disaster. You know, out how much a
dishwashers cause, uh, I'm gonnaguess new dishwasher. I'm gonna say five
hundred dollars, okay, so youcan get one at best Buy, a
ge top controlled one for four hundred. So I was really worried, like,

(01:06):
this is gonna be bad, youknow, Uh don't want to be
paying for that. Per se.Luckily just turned everything off in the house
like the fuse box, turn iton, fixed it, fix it,
good to go. You know,I can basically fix anything. I don't
want to brag, but you canbasically fix anything. I'm excited for Mane.

(01:29):
It's gonna be a big weekend.I'm also really excited nerdly, if
that's a word, because on Monday, the new college Football video game comes
out. Now, if you don'tknow, I'm a nerd for a second.
College Football the video game was thegreatest video game franchise of all time.
You could pick your college. Youcould start as a player who has

(01:52):
graduated high school and choose what collegeyou wanted to go to, and you
know, play four years college football, and then at the end you could
transfer your player from the college footballgame to the NFL game. It was
pretty sick, or you could coachwhatever. In twenty thirteen, the last
version came out because that is whenthe NCAA kind of started to get in

(02:16):
trouble with players wanted to get moneyand so EA Sports the creators like,
yeah, we're just gonna pause. So this is the first time in eleven
years this game's come out. It'ssupposed to come out last year. They
pushed you forward this year, Iplan It's not great timing for me.
You know, the comedy dates startnext week. I plan on winning several

(02:37):
national championships for the University of Minnesota. Here's the thing, too, man,
if you do like your own playermode, you have to like balance
your school schedule and like get getgood grades and stuff. I'm like,
listen, bro, I'm here whenNashville Championships fam So luckily I think comes
on Monday, so I can spendthis weekend like actually nailing down the jokes

(03:02):
and all good stuff, you knowwhat I mean. It'd be really rough
if I didn't know what I wasdoing next weekend. I was like,
yeah, but guys, I knowthe jokes weren't great, but I am
a national champion in video game football, so you know, I don't want
to brag, but too too,you know what I'm saying. So the

(03:22):
plan this weekend is to kind offinish everything. I did. Ran through
the jokes yesterday and uh I wasstill laughing at it, which sounds self
serving, but that's usually how Ijudge that something's good because I don't do
the jokes before or to anybody elsebefore the shows. So if I'm still
laughing at it. I'm like, all right, we had a chance here.

(03:45):
You know, this could be somethingspecial and ready to go. So
I think this weekend the plans totry to relax, try to hang with
some friends as well, because I'vekind of negative friends the last couple of
weeks really just kind of locked myselfaway and and focus on on this.
So I'm excited if you come ofthe shows. It's gonna be hot,

(04:05):
dude, It's gonna be hot,not temperature wise. The venue has assured
me the AC is gonna work.Although there's one venue we were at.
I don't want to say when itwas or where it was. I want
to give it away, but Iwalked in and it's a big venue,
right and I can. I walkedback stage like, ooh, it's hot.

(04:26):
It's hot, and like, we'vehad some AC problems. Don't worry
though. We have huge industrial fans, and I was like, I am
worried because this venue also does likeconcerts. I'm like, it's one thing
to have big industrial fans at aconcert. However, in the medium of
stand up comedy, where silence issometimes key is setting up a joke.

(04:51):
Having a fan going really loudly inthe background is an ideal. Also,
fans don't often work, dude, you know what I mean. Like,
sometimes it feels like a fan isjust pushing warm air on you. You
know, That's kind of what thatwas like. So I'm gonna knock on

(05:12):
some wood. We'll be good togo. I want to get to this
for your Friday. These subtle signsyou are the toxic one in your relationship.
I'll say this. I think thisapplies to again, a romantic family
friend, whatever. And I dothink at some point everybody has a little
bit of toxic in them, youknow, just a little bit. And

(05:34):
I think it's good to kind ofrealize that and kind of to look at
that. Sorry is pause for asneeze. There we go. Number one
off the bet You avoid expressing yourtrue opinions, they say, maybe you
stay quiet and stead disagree with somebodya meeting, You not along with a
friend's opinion, even if you dogenuinely feel the same way. They say,

(05:55):
Well, diplomacy is important constantly centeringyour true thoughts. Maybe you sign
your afraid of being judged or dislikedif people knew you really believed. I'll
say this, and I said thisbefore. Most dudes know their girls fighting
style. Most dudes do. Andyou know, if you are in a
fight with your girl, you know, if you keep your mouth shut about

(06:16):
how much time is left in thatfight, and sometimes you'll just bite the
tongue, not saying it's right, not saying it's the best thing to do.
I think it's factual if you struggleto apologize sincerely. Yeah, Yeah,
nothing worse than when somebody wrongs youand they drop the i'm sorry you

(06:39):
feel that way, you know whatI mean, where it's like they're kind
of putting it back on you. It's like it's not really an apology,
you know. Also I said thisbefore on this podcast. Man, I
think apologizing is so much easier thanwe give it credit for. You know,
it takes away all the power.Dude, If you often feel like
the victim, yeah, even whenyou're clearly in the wrong, do you

(07:01):
find yourself or twisting narrative to paintyourself as the one who's been wronged the
victim mentality? Yeah, and againyou've heard me say this a million times.
The world does not care enough aboutone person to ruin one person's day.
I believe in that. I thinkthat's facts if you hold grudges for
an extended period of time. Ilisten. I read something not recently but

(07:21):
in the last couple of years whereit's like, when you hold a grudge,
you're really only affecting you because theodds are the other person has no
idea you're mad at them. Like, if you're out there right now,
I say, it's so Genmily.I don't know anybody who dislikes me.

(07:41):
I'm not trying to say that asan ego thing, but like, if
there's anybody who has beef of me, I'm unaware. So if you have
beef of me, you're really harmingyou because I just don't know, you
know what I mean. And that'skind of what they're saying. I think
it's like holding a grudge against somebody. It's like if they don't know,
you're only hurting you, you knowwhat I mean. And that's so fun.

(08:03):
If you're always trying to fix people, damn well, wanting to help
others is admirable. Constantly trying tofix their problems or change the personality can
be suffocating. It's important to trustor accept people for their who they are,
their flaws and all. Yeah,I do think that I've seen this
some people where they try to pickup somebody as a project, or they're

(08:24):
looking for somebody as a project.I don't think it's a good sign,
man. I think that's it's adangerous road. If you're always a center
of attention, if you dominate conversations, interrupt others, and seer every conversation
back to yourself. That's also justannoying. There's nothing worse than we talk.
And I've like del people like thiswhere I you talk to somebody and

(08:48):
it always ends up going back tothem. I could talk about how my
foot was run over by a bustoday and they're like, well, that's
that's crazy. But did you knowwhy is six yearyears old? I got
hit really hard in bumper cars. It's like, hey, cool story.
Also not the same, not,in fact, not even close. The

(09:11):
last one is you're overly defensive. They say, when selling offers criticism or
feedback, do you immediately become defensive. This hyper sensitivity can make it difficult
for others to communicate openly with you, especially like in my life, I
tend to be in a leadership rolein most of the things I do very

(09:31):
blessed that way. So there's somebodywho wants to get better but also doesn't
want to hear the ways to getbetter. Eventually, I told people like,
hey, like I don't have tohelp in that way, and not
in a bad way. But it'slike, I'm not quite too sure what
you want from me, you knowwhat I'm saying. I've always said I'll

(09:52):
give anybody the playbook. Anybody whoasked the playbook, I'll give it to
you. But like, if youdon't want it, then why are we
asking you know what I mean. It's a weird world, fam Listen.
Uh cannot wait for next weekend.I think there's maybe a couple of tickets
left for the Friday Show Friday nextFriday, Arlington Draft House seven pm.
Then Ramsaid Live August seventeenth. Grabyour tickets. Internshooncomedy dot com We'll see

(10:16):
you Monday.
