Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Monday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower.
Intern John is my name. It was a weekend. I
hate that that has become a thing, but here we are.
What can you do? Let's get right into it. So
busy weekend for sure. Friday went to so Thursday. First

(00:24):
of all, we got the award in Baltimore. Very exciting
for a Best Radio Host for Sauce, Best Podcast for
a yours truly. Friday family and I went to Baltimore
stay the weekend. We went to Jimmy's for dinner, Jimmy's
famous seafood. You can't do any better than that, yes, kam.
We had the grilled calamari, which was fantastic, the Greek

(00:46):
salad fantastic. My first time having soft shell crab, which
I think, hold on, I should have looked this up beforehand.
I'm pretty sure that's just crab that has yeah, okay,
is crab that has molted.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Basically, that makes sense. Okay, So.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Samshell crab, which is like the crab shell, but they
just molted so it's.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Soft and then they fry it. That was really good.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
So you eat the whole thing, You eat the shell
and all because it's not really hard.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
That was good.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Then I had the stuff lobster, which that's one of
my favorite dishes of all time. It is so stinking
good because it's like crab and its scallops and other
things so good. And then they gave us to my
birthday cake, which is lovely. So we went from a
Jimmy's to the Oh's game, which was great. My dad's

(01:39):
always talked about wanting to see a game at Candon
Yards because I think it's one of the best stadiums
in baseball personally, and it worked out there playing the
Red Sox that's like my dad's favorite team, So went
to the game. I'll say this about the game. Baseball
changed their rules recently to make the games go faster,
where it's like a pitch clock and only a certain

(02:01):
amount of time that you can go and check things
out or whatever. And let me just say this, The
first couple of innings flew by, flew by. It was quick,
it was good, it was fun, and I made the
mistake of saying out loud, hey, this is going really quick,

(02:22):
this is this is fantastic. Look how crazy this game's going. Okay,
Then from like the fourth inning on time stood still
uh basically is what happened to the point that the
game ended up being like five hours long. I'm not
too sure how it got to five hours, but it did.
We we uh skipped early, not skipped early, but we

(02:44):
well yeah, left the game early.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Went to My goodness, the Alkyum.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
There we go Elkroom, which is like a little speakeasy
whiskey bar.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
They also have a.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
H in the back. They have a cigar lounge. So
we did that. That was great. Saturday wake up. Saturday
is what we call show day. I mentioned this on Friday.
I like being if we're doing a show somewhere, I
prefer to get into that town the day before so
that the day of the show there's a full like

(03:16):
time to relax. There is a full make sure everything's good,
to go, make sure everything's ready. That's kind of like
my go to like things to do if I can.
So we did that. On Saturday. I almost went to
the zoo. I was so excited go to the Maryland
Zoo for the first time, but it's sorry to rain,

(03:36):
so that wasn't the vibe. I got to the venue.
Parents came with. It was kind of fun to have
them see the venue. Because they've heard of Ram said
in I think they were taken back by how big
it is.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
I mean, it is a if you've never been before.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Ram said, you walk in, there's a lower level and
there's like three tiers in the sky too, so it's massive.
Show on Saturday was great. It was a lot of fun.
My dad professor did his time, went well, went well,
had a lot of folks compliment afterwards, saying how well
it went. In fact, too many people. I was like, Hey,

(04:10):
this isn't about him. This is about me. This is
about if you know anything about me, the attention must
be on me all time anybody else gets attention. I
stopped talking to him, you know, Shelby Winds the wharf,
best radio host. We stopped being friends. That's how I
work ahl But it was great. Did they after part mosaic?

(04:37):
And then I did a typical intern John thing. When
I've hit the fund meter, I usually leave someplace. And
it's not that I am having less fun. It's like,
if I know I've hit like the right amount of
fun where I'm having the most fun I can have,
I tend to leave because I know, like it's only

(04:59):
downhill from here, and with the active party of Mosaic,
which is fantastic.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I think I was blessed to have like six or
seven listeners get shots, and I just knew, like it's
been a long day, it's time to go. I'm also
like one of the worst hotel sleepers on show days
because like, if I know I can drive home, I
just want to go home. So I think I woke
up at like five thirty first, then like six thirty,

(05:24):
seven thirty whatever, got home. I slept for like six
hours yesterday. It was a knockout. So the plan the
rest of the week with the family, We're gonna do
breakfast with the show. The We're gonna see the restaurant
that I'm part of, and then hopefully I think it's
to my seafood. So that's kind of like the plan is.
It was a great weekend. I became to the show
as thank you. If it came to any of the shows,

(05:44):
thank you. You can get merch internshoon, Comedy dot com.
Let me hit this real quick for your Monday. The
signs you're not ready for a relationship, maybe just get
out of one, whatever it may be. Let's get into
this man right off the bat if you're still I'll
fixate on your ex. If thoughts of your acts are
still taking a major real estate in your mind, it's

(06:06):
a sign you might not be ready for a new relationship.
If you're checking their social media or comparing potential partners
to them, shows you're hanging onto the past. I would
say the social media more than that, because I think
the reality is you're always going to compare somebody new
to who you were dating, at least in the beginning.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
I think that's a normal thing.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I think if you're checking the social media, yeah, if
you're mean, it's one thing if they happen to pop
up on your social media, But if you are searching
them out, to me, it's like you're not gonna find
anything good on there. You know, it's never gonna be
like a they're gonna call to action to you on
social media. That's never gonna be it, you know, one

(06:49):
hundred percent. If the idea being single terrifies you, they
say a feeling terrified of being a loans a red
flag you might not be ready for a relationship. If
the thought being a relationship may you anxious or depressed,
you may be looking for relationship to fill that void.
I think I was in this spot obviously going through
the beginning of a breakup. But it's like, oh god, I'm single,

(07:12):
I have nothing going for me. Yeah, all those stots
kind of roll in and there were time to get like,
oh no, I have a lot going for me. You know,
it's okay. I can kind of like it's interesting to
have that moment of like, oh, I can kind of
like do whatever I want to do. If I want
to stay in all day, nothing, I can do that.

(07:33):
If I want to go try out to be a
walk on at the University of Maryland football, well I
don't know if I can do that, but you get
the idea. I do have some years of college eligibility
left though I graduated.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
As far as playing sports.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
I think if your self esteem is solely based off
your relationship status, yeah, if your self were this tied up,
whether or not you're in a relationship, it's a sign
you're not ready for one. Relying a relation to feel
good about yourself. It's a lot of pressure on both
you and your partner. I've talked about this before. I
can't date somebody who that's the case. I was lucky

(08:09):
MYX girlfriend that wasn't the case what previous xs it was.
I can't be somebody's sole source of happiness. That's a
lot of pressure, dude. It's a lot of pressure, you
know what I mean. Like I had an ex that
when she would come over, she always had to be
within like a couple of feet of me, And it
was too much, you know what I mean, especially because

(08:31):
like after work, I just want to kind of decompress
some people a little bit, you know, decompress, kind of
do my own thing, and like always had to be there.
I can't do this if you're focusing on a checklist.
If you're dating with a riggod checklist in mind and
dismissing anyone who doesn't tick every box, it means you're

(08:51):
not ready for a real relationship. I've talked to friends
about this, and not so much for me, but I
almost think to like that perfect checklist of a person
to me would be so boring.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
It'd be so boring.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Now, granted, I know that for whoever I date next,
I will check all the boxes.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
For them.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, I mean, humble got that down, Adorable, got that down.
So I'll check all their boxes, you know what I mean.
But I've talked to other people about it. I just
think the idea of like that perfect person, it would
just be boring. There'd be no surprise, there'd be nothing different,

(09:34):
you know. I think too, like there's things about somebody
that maybe you don't realize you'd like, you know, I'll
get my ex credits. She I'll get a credit for
a lot of things obviously. But she wasn't afraid to
like be silly in public. And I wouldn't necessarily thought
that was a good thing beforehand, not bad thing, but
wouldn't thought is positive. But then I was like, oh no,

(09:54):
it is though, because like she just wants to have
fun and it's like living her life. So to me,
like I wouldn't have thought that going in, but now
I'm like that makes sense. Why not just kind of
enjoy yourself? So I think, like that's an example for
me of like having the checklist thing, no go last one.
You get anxious when things aren't moving fast. I've talked
to friends about this before. Uh, it's difficult because I

(10:18):
think that with dating nowadays, there's so many like starts
and stops where you think something's going somewhere and it
fizzles out. To work yeah, you kind of want to
skip to the good part. You want to skip ahead
three months and they like, Okay, this is gonna work out,
this is worth investing time, and sadly like that's just

(10:40):
not how it works, you know. So if you feel
anxious about things not going fast, yeah, you're probably not
ready for a relationship. Listen, the motto of the show.
My motto has always been want you to be happy
and healthy. I appreciate you. The Emerge is still for
