Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Friday friend to welcome to thought Shower
intern John is my name? Getting a late start today, man?
And the way it is, well, no, I do know.
I talked about this in the last podcast too. My
parents been here for a week. It wasn't so much them,
although they are exhausting, Oh they are exhausting. But this

(00:20):
last week was kind of like a a marathon of things.
I think is safe to say. My plan this weekend's
hopefully not doing much today Friday, the goal is to
do nothing, to literally do nothing, to go to the

(00:42):
gym after the show. But other than that, do nothing.
If you listen to me at all the last couple
of years, you know, my birthday, what I'd like to
do is basically Chinese food, pizza, video games. Had pizza
with the family. I had Chinese food last night, perhaps

(01:03):
video games tonight. We called a good birthday that way,
you know. I tried to things that like, legitimately I
want to do that will make me happy, and like
that's kind of like the vibe I go for Rabel
do that this week kind of perfect. On Saturday, I
have to go to a birthday party for like a
friend of a friend, which I'm very excited for then Sunday,

(01:26):
Maryland Renaissance Festival. I'm excited for that. Oh man, I
love Mary. I've never been to the Maryland Renaissance Festival,
but I like the food at renfairs. Like that to
me is like, you know, because Minnesota State Fair is
happening right now. Food there absolutely amazing Renaissance Festival. I

(01:50):
cannot freaking wait because they got like real good food
from I was checking out. Hold on, I'm on the side. Okay,
food at the fair. Okay. They got something called pork pockets.
They got something coming crab rangoon. Come on now, bro,
come on now. They got chocolate cake, they got fudging
a cup, they got a pean butter pine and a

(02:13):
stick a meatball wrap. What's that? I don't know. I'm
talking is if you're gonna be able to answer Mac
and cheese on a stick, dude, Come on now. Belgium waffles, meatballs,
Oh the smoke turkey leg you can't go wrong with.
You can't go wrong with crab pretzel, can't go wrong

(02:36):
with grilled steak, sandwich, steak on a steak. Love it.
So I'm excited for that. I'm gonna be honest to
it was in Annapolis. Okay, that's not that bad and mean, yeah,
we'll be fine. I'm excited. I know when the last
time I was at Annapolis was. But what better reason

(02:56):
to go than the Renaissance Festival. I love this kind
of stuff, man. I also love county fairs and state
fares basically anything where there's food, people walking, and then
also I can just walk myself so I can pretend
that I am being healthy, you know what I mean? Also,

(03:16):
what the hell is scotch egg? Go on? I see
that's being on the list too. Scotch egg, boiled egg,
wrapped in sausage, meat, cooked in breadcrumbs, bake or deefrot.
Oh that sounds good. I don't know why I assumed
it was liquor. It's basically just like a meat pie
with egg. That's a little bit misleading, is it not?

(03:40):
Or is that Does that say more about me that
I assumed it was liquor because it's called Scotch egg?
Who is this reflect on me or the fine folks
who make Scotch eggs? Anyway? This is kind of like
my first weekend technically off in a while too. In

(04:01):
my last the restaurant bar that I'm a part of
should be opening very soon. I'm very excited for that.
You know, I mentioned my dad and I got to
have the first cigar there. It's very exciting. It's the
project that's been you know, eight months in the working
finally getting close. It's gonna be That's gonna be a
big time adjustment, certainly, but I'm trying to figure things out. Also.

(04:25):
It's crazy that labor days next weekend. Gotta figure that
out as well. And we only have like three months
left in the year. Dude, damn, what happened? We're twenty
twenty four. Go let me get to this too quick
for your Friday. People who like to be alone have
these personality trades. Number One, they're confident introverts. They say

(04:46):
that it's not to imply they are some type of
weird loan or anything, just that I've given the choice
between a party or sitting on their couch and going
on a solo hike, and they'll pick the ladder. Every time.
I been living by myself for the majority of my life,
my adult life. I love it. I do think this
is kind of me. I think a lot of it

(05:07):
has to do with the job in general, where I
just kind of like to go and do nothing, like
after the show. It's a very I've told this to
folks in radio. If you're not exhausted after doing a
morning show or any type of show in radio, you
didn't do it right. Like there should be so much
going on like that. Mentally you are drained. Exciting, certainly rewarding,

(05:29):
of course, but you know there's a lot that goes
into the show. I mean not to get in the
weeds too much with this, but like I have to
play commercials at a certain time every single day. That's
kind of what we do. It's what's best for the show,
best for ratings, YadA YadA, And so there's a lot
of math that goes into that because I know how

(05:50):
long commercial breaks are, and I know where I need
to be in commercials and beyond commercials. So like every break,
I'm doing math of how much we have left the talk.
Can I fit one more collaring, Can I get one
more story from Sauce, Can I get Rose's opinion? If
somebody else, if Eric or Hoodie in the room, is
there enough time to do this or this? It's pretty

(06:11):
mentally draining then, like trying to be entertaining on top
of that and making sure nobody swears. That's always a
fun one too. So yeah, I think at the end
of the day, it's like I just want to be
by myself their selves sufficient and super independent. Yeah. Yeah,
they say it's hard to have a good time being
on your own when you can't really look at after
yourself or have a more codependent type personality. I think

(06:35):
that makes sense. I do think living on your own
is one thing that everybody should do if you get
a chance to. I think you can can't learn about yourself,
But I think the biggest thing is I think I
learned more so how to be still, how to just
kind of be myself, be in my thoughts. And then

(06:55):
I think being alone also kind of slows time down.
It feels like, you know what I mean, where it's
just like you can relax, take a breath, do whatever. Huh.
They're easily annoyed. Yeah, they say, often find people's weird
quirks or habits a bi obnoxious trades hard to deal

(07:16):
with or be around with for any length of time. Yeah.
I think so that kind of makes sense a little bit. Again,
because by yourself you kind of make the rules. It's
kind of your whole vibe. I was talking to parents
about this because we stayed in Baltimore on Friday and Saturday,
and like, I'm the person where if I wake up
at a hotel and I know I'm driving distance from home,

(07:38):
I want to go home right away. Like if I
wake up and it's one o'clock in the morning and
I know home is like thirty minutes away, I'm like,
I'd rather drive home than stay at the hotel. You know,
it's like just knowing that home is there, And maybe
it's like that's how I know I can kind of
like restart things for real. That's kind of the vibe.
I want the final want I'll get to and this

(07:59):
one it's funny and you're gonna laugh hearing this. Traits
are people who like to be alone. They hate the spotlight. Well,
I've always said this about myself, though. I like the
spotlight when I can control it. On stage, Yes, with

(08:20):
a microphone in my hand, Yes, doing the show, Yes, coaching, Yes, podcasts, Yes,
when I can control the situation. I like being the spotlight.
When I can't control it. It's like when somebody brings
out the birthday cake and you kind of sit there
and I'll eyes around you for that. That's not my

(08:40):
ideal situation, you know. That's the one that I don't
like at all. That's where I get like the anxiety.
It happened again with Breakfast my Parents this week. The
show had the restaurant bring up pop tart for my
birthday and I just sat there and like os cuss
Wildli like this, not really sure what to do. I

(09:00):
love the Spiley Baby. I can't lie to you. You know.
It is what it is. And I hope you have
a great weekend. I appreciate you listening. You can get
me on the Instagram at intern Genre Radio. We'll see
you Monday.
