Speaker 1 (00:00):
In a Happy Wednesday friend. Welcome to the Thought Shower
intern John is my name back? Not really live but
live sort of. It was a weekend. It was a weekend. No,
it's Wednesday. I had recorded Monday's podcast a little bit
early this past weekend. Went down to Sunny Florida, Orlando
(00:23):
Universal Studios. It was an amazing time, so they had
us down there to check out Universal Studios to go
to the park broadcasted live. It was a lot cool
because I got to bring my brother Tommy down, so
he came down from Saint Louis, which was a lot
of fun, especially because you know, growing up in Minnesota,
(00:43):
we would always see commercials on TV watching Nickelodeon for
Universal Studios and just go down there. So they filmed
Nickelodeon shows where they have all the rides and where
I was like, oh my god, this would be so
cool to go. Unfortunately we were in Minnesota, so pretty
cool to go as adults got in. On Saturday, we
(01:04):
were down there for Universal Studio Resorts Halloween Horror Nights,
which I'm always kind of a fan of. I liked
hot house stuff and they do it well. Like I've
noticed the last couple of years like they'll have a
movie themed or TV show themed. This year it was Ghostbusters.
It was insidious. It was a quiet place, and then
(01:25):
they had some more i want to say generic but
other Halloween stories. It was so sick. So Saturday, we landed,
got in, went to Margaritaville, which was fantastic and vain
like around I want to say nine o'clock, that's when
the park turns into Halloween and it just like it's
almost like somebody flips a switch, like it instantly goes
(01:47):
to Halloween. So we did all the hot houses for
the most part. We stayed until like midnight or one
something like that, got back to the hotel, passed out.
Sunday went to the park again, did the rides and
it was a lot of fun. I'm not necessarily the
biggest ride guy. However, they hooked us up with the
(02:10):
express passes, so we have to go quicker. That made
a cool Went to Harry Potter Land, which was very
cool if you're a Harry Potter fan. They kind of
transformed two areas of the park into that, so walking
up and seeing Hogwarts was pretty cool. Did those rides.
Did the Jurassic Park ride was a lot of fun
(02:31):
than Tommy had to leave on Sunday. Monday did the
show again and we got to do like the VIP tour,
which was like they bring you the back way to
the front of the lines. That was one of those
things where I don't know if I can ever go back.
Can I afford to do it on my own? Probably not,
But like you talk about a cool experience, like they
(02:52):
would bring us through the exit of the rides so
we could go to the front, and that again one
of those things where I'm not the big roller coaster guy. However,
it's kind of like when we had that chance again
to do that, you know what I mean, Like, when's
that gonna happen? Probably the coolest part though, honestly, was
(03:13):
so we did the show there Monday and Tuesday. They
have an actual radio studio on campus, like in the
resort and on the resort in the park, Like you
walk in and there's a radio broadcast center. It's like
a fully equipped studio, very nice stuff, very nice staff.
But you can see the whole park and they let
us walk around because Hoodie and I would get there
(03:33):
around like four, so we still have two hours we'd
set for the show, make sure everything's good, and just
kind of go for a walk because I had to
walk for the show anyway. But get in the walk
down Diegon Alley, which is a Harry Potter world by ourselves.
It was interesting because when it's full of people, you
can't really hear all the sounds. When it's just quiet,
(03:54):
you hear all different sounds from all different shops. Because
I can be honest, I don't know if they turn
it off, like maybe because the park closes for Halloween
nights at least I think two maybe, so it was
kind of like ships in the Night a little bit.
But anyway, fantastic trip, Huge Things Universe Orlando was cool
to have. I'm brother down there as well. There's a
(04:16):
fun trip over. There's a fun trip some that never
really thought you had a chance to do, but hey,
here we are. Had Atlanta Dulles yesterday that was not great.
Dulles is just I don't know, man, of all the
airport is here, I think it's gonna be my least favorite.
And you've never been a Dulles airport. It's one of
(04:39):
those airports where you know the terminals aren't necessarily by
the main entrance you know what I mean. I give
to take a mode of transportation to get there. Sometimes
it's the tram, which the tram, hey easy, you know,
I get it. You'd get in the tram, it goes
to your gate whatever. Sometimes you have to take these
giant star wars like conversion vans were it looks like
(05:00):
something you transport two hundred people on across sand like
that kind of like vibe and they stuffy in there,
and it's just people are stupid. That's like the biggest thing.
Because we got off the plane and there's a line
to get on the giant tram thing, and people were
loading it and standing in the front. If you walk
from the airport into the vehicle, people were walking about
(05:24):
fotting the vehicle and stopping like, oh, I'm in, I'm
good now. It's like, hey, idiot, the rest of us
half get in bro filling fill no different than loading
the plane. It's like, okay, we made it back. I
only took an hour and ten minutes to get home.
Here we are happy Wednesday. I want to get to
this for your Wednesday too. The types of toxic people
to cut out of your life. We ain't got time
(05:46):
for this life. Is short. You des there to be happy.
You don't need toxic people ruining everything. Starting with people
who criticize you NonStop. They say, this person seems to
find fault in everything you do, often under the guise
of helping or being realistic. I hate that. Anytime I've
(06:07):
had an idea for something and somebody's told me to
be more realistic, that to me is like nah, dude,
because then it's like, is it really having dreams and goals?
If you're being quote unquote realistic, you have a dream
and a goal or something you haven't accomplished yet, you
know what I mean, So like they aren't reality. Like
(06:29):
a goal of mine is to have the show uh
Beyond in more cities. Uh. It hasn't happened yet, so
technically it's not real yet, but it's still a goal,
you know. I don't like that people who constantly bring
unnecessarily drama into your life. Drama is a weird thing, man.
(06:49):
I don't like being involved with it. And I think
it's because I've had like real drama before and been
through real stuff where it's like I have no desire
to go through that. I you know, my brother and
I trained in mixed martial arts trained boxing as well
growing up, and I can always tell somebody who's been
in a fight because they don't look to be in
(07:10):
more fights. Somebody who's never been in a fight and
taking a fist to the face will try to find
fights in public, you know what I mean. That's the
guy that's gonna look for a fight at the bar.
Somebody who's been in a fight before and knows how
bad you can get hurt is not going to actively
look for a fight. Somebody who's been in real drama
is not going to actively look for real drama again,
(07:31):
you know what I mean, Have you been through something
It's like, yeah, I'm not gonna get involved in this
petty stuff now. Not really the vibe. People who need
to control everything all the time. They say people like
this insist on dictating not just their lives, but yours
as well, often overstepping boundaries in the process. Yeah, they
say they overboard need for control can feel stifling and
(07:54):
limit your personal freedom. Yeah, dude, again, I think that
goes back to like, you need a chance to grow
and make your own mistakes. I also just don't like
people who act like you're a project. You know, what
I mean. Like I've told this story before. I had
an ex girlfriend a few x's ago who kind of
made it seem like to my mom that she was
(08:16):
doing me a favor, she was doing my mama favor.
Like this girl was doing me and my mama favor
that she was, you know there and thank God for it.
And that did not go over well. My mom was
not like, yeah, girl, thank god he's like she was comorrow,
like yeah, you know he he's doing things by himself,
you know, trying to build something here. Yeah. I think
(08:37):
it's a huge, huge thing of let you kind of
do your own thing and figure things out in your
own and not being somebody's project. Last one I'll get
to people who are jealous of your success. This is
an interesting one, and I've always kind of been in
the belief of there's enough success to go around for
people who get it. When my friends do something and
(09:00):
to see us something, I am very excited. My friend Dante,
one of my best friends in the whole world, and
we talked about the podcast. I want to say a
week or so ago, but like he is starting the
first HBCU hockey program Tennessee State University couldn't be more
happy for him, couldn't be more excited for him. He
is there is my buddy EJ. Call him cousin EJ.
(09:21):
When he does a big interview with somebody, I'm pumped
for him. I'm excited for him. You know what I mean?
They say, instead of celebrate your success, they find ways
to be little or overshadow them. This constant jealousy can
take the shine off your victories and make you hesitant
to share good news. It is almost like they're trying
to dim your brightness and make you feel I don't know,
(09:43):
like you shouldn't share in your victory. You shouldn't share
when you're happy about something, especially if you work for it.
Hell now, listen, it's funny I get called that. On
the flip side of like celebrating the victory is too much,
it's like, yeah, you have to at least acknowledge him,
you know what I mean? Like I think I think
that makes things I don't know. It can help you
push forward. I have like photos up my house, which
(10:04):
the show makes fun of, but live it is different
comedy to her stuff where it's like, no, it's important
to acknowledge when your hard work pays off, you know.
Let me be your heype man, so to speak. Help
you have fantastic Wednesday. Make sure you follow at intern
Genre Radio. We'll see Friday
