Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Wednesday friend. Welcome to the thought Shower.
Intern John is my name. I am in a sleep
deficit this week. I don't know what it is, just
have mailed sleep or anything some kind of like a
little bit delirious. We're gonna make it work. I don't
know if it's just excited for a lot going on
this week. We have the Tuesday Dog Adoption which is

(00:21):
tomorrow at Caddies and Bethesda. Be alt of fun having
dogs and the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue out. If
you want to come, please do pet dogs. They're donating
a portion of all proceeds to Lost Dog and Cat Rescue.
That's Thursday my Caddies in Bethesda five pm to seven pm.
And then of course the album My Chewy Forever album.

(00:42):
You can reserve your pre order Internsjohncomedy dot com. I'm
so excited for you guys to hear this. Are you
a low maintenance friend? Let's get to this for your
Wednesday now. I'm gonna say this. Will I be triggered
throughout this? I don't know, Although my per so the
defense is can I be high maintenance? Sure? I think

(01:04):
the reward is worth it. I think that I I
don't know. I think I'm a good friend, Like I
show up for folks when need be, and I expect
the same back, you know what I mean. I think
that's a good thing. I think that we sometimes let
just anybody into the circle, and we shouldn't do that.
You shouldn't let anybody be your friend, anybody hang around,

(01:25):
like if somebody shows you they don't have your best interest.
Kick they asked to the curb, starting with you don't
need constant communication. You have the type who needs daily
check ins, constant updates to go close to somebody in fact,
you know, days, weeks, even months though speaking when we
do connect it feels like no time has passed. This
is most of my friends. Again for dudes, it's just
kind of different. You know, my buddy Kenny who lives

(01:49):
in Minnesota. I haven't seen Kenny in five years, I
don't think, but I know, like when we get back
and hang out again, it'll be like nothing, you know
what I mean. Now, that's like the the soul bond,
like they talk about soulmates with like other people as well.
If that's what that is. But one your flexible plans,
you don't lose control. Plans change You're happy to adapt

(02:11):
whatever works best for everyone, whether it's switching from a
fantasy dinner to casual takeout or altering the time of
a meetup. You're easy going about details, and you know,
I do think that for me, especially in my line
of work, hours are strange, and I think for me
the you know, uh, some of my best friends here,
good friend ANDROI Day and then DJ Rise. We're both

(02:34):
or I guess we're all lucky, rather that we all
work in the same field. You're Andro Day musician, does Wineries,
does leg warmers, DJ Rise DJ and so we all
kind of get to like, hey, uh, if we're not busy,
business isn't good. Yeah, I mean, if there's ever a
time we can all play golf, like every day of

(02:56):
the week. Uh, somebody's not doing well business wise. So
we're very flexible that way, which is cludge. You're low
key about celebrations. When it comes to birthday. It's special occasions.
You're not the one demanding and plans or shavgan gestures
as simple get together A heartful message is not to
make your day. I think that's me all. I want
to be celebrated, I want to parade, I want the passeengry.

(03:18):
For sure, you don't sweat the small stuff. You have
remarkable ability let go of minor annoyances and focused on
what truly matters, whether it's a late text, supply forgotten
phone call. You owned well on the little things that
might upset others. I think this is key more so
because if a friend doesn't text you back right away,
you know that it's not because they don't love you

(03:40):
or they don't care. It's because you know, they're busy.
And I think that's clutch. You know, you know it's
not because they're just blowing you off or they're hanging
out somebody else. Like that, to me is like the
best kind of friend, because there's nothing worse than when
if I have am running late somewhere right to cancel
plans already feel bad about it, you know what I mean.

(04:02):
There's nothing worse than the friend who makes you feel
worse on top of it, the friend who's like, hey,
I get it happens. That to me is cool. I
do think it's kind of like the idea of when
you go out to a restaurant with a group of people,
like the folks who like split everything in like, oh,
I only had the cell with crew toons, you didn't
instead throwing the cards in. It's like, hey, it's gonna
even out. So I know that, like if a friend

(04:24):
cances on me, I'm probably have to cancel on them eventually,
and so like it evens out. You know, you're happy
if low key hangouts. They see how some people crave
the thrilled nightlife of fancy outings. You prefer You're perfectly
content with a quiet night in, whether it's watching a movie,
playing board game, just chatting over coffee. Again, I'll go
with me O day, Willis play catch? Like there will

(04:47):
be times I het you wanna play catch today and
Willis go and play catch. That's the thing about dudes though, too.
And it's like there's great memes about this where it's
like for dudes, it's like you can hang out with
a guy for a week not know anything about him
or not learn anything about them and s yeah, dudes,
it's kind of like we offer peace to each other,
you know what I mean. It's the idea of like

(05:07):
I explained this once in the show, I think like
dudes are doing the night watch. You know, we're guarding
the fort and it's just nice to have a buddy
up there with your garden, the fort with you, you know,
or when you're hunting you sit in the tree sand.
Don't say anything that kind of vibe. You're easy to please.
You're genuinely satisfied with whatever your friends suggests, whether it's
a new restaurant, movie, weekend activity. You're open minded and

(05:30):
willing to try new things and make plenty of outings
with you a breeze. This to me is the best
kind of friend. We're Yeah, it's not pulling teeth that
try to hang out with them. It's not a I
offer a bazillion different things for than to you know,
decide the down or something. The friend that's down for
anything is the best friend to hang out with. Again,

(05:53):
whether it is hey we're gonna we're gonna climb the
Great Pyramids to say, all right, it's a long walk,
but we'll do it, or hey, we're just gonna sit
and watch TV. Awesome, that's the best kind of friend.
Everybody knows that the friends down for anything absolutely give
value quality over quantity. Yes, you know it. Having a

(06:13):
few close friends is more fulfilling and having a large
group of acquaintances. I've always been this way, although I'm
also very blessed, like I'm very blessed that to have
the friend group I do, very diverse friend group. I
always bring back my Christmas party, the ij Christmas Spectacular,
where it's like there's the radio friends, there's comedy friends,

(06:34):
there's the hockey friends. Uh, there's every there's a comedian friends,
there's every walk of life friends there. But I was
said this before in the show, I'd rather have one
really good friend than one hundred Okay friends, All you
really need is like the one, you know, maybe two,
maybe three tops, right, and everything else is kind of blessings.

(06:56):
But yeah, I think that's true. You know that having
those close friends, you can rely on them, you can
hang out with them. You know they have your back,
they protect your peace, all those huge You don't hold grudges,
they say, you're quick to forgive and forget, which keeps
your relationship healthy and drama free. Hold non or a
zemin or anger isn't your style? You resolve conflicts quickly.

(07:19):
I think, yeah, again, at that point, do you want
to be friends with the person who holds on the grudges?
And then I would say also too, if you have
a friend that holds on the grudges. You never quite
know if they've moved on, you know what I mean,
Like they say they're okay, but it's like, mmm, are
you though, are you singing that? I want that anxiety,

(07:42):
you know, the last one. You appreciate the little things.
You find joy in the simple moments. Don't need grand
gestures to feel content, whether it's a shared laugh, orm hug,
heartfelt conversation, These small interactions be in the world to you.
I mean, I'll say this, you know, when Chewy passed,
that was the worst obviously, and I think you've had loss.
You realize that you get the influx of people right

(08:03):
away who are giving you, you know, no condolences and heartfelts,
but it starts to die off. And I'll say that,
you know again, speaking to Oday and DJ Rise, they
kept reaching out after the first week, after the first month,
and even you know DJ Rise remember a text especially,

(08:24):
I was like, hey, man, just want to check on you.
And I was like, damn, dude, that's cool, that's really cool,
you know what I mean. And that meant a lot
to me because it's like I was going through it obviously,
and it's kind of like you go through that in
the stage is of a grief where it's like, oh,
nobody cares anymore that this happened, that he's gone, which
isn't the case. You know, people just don't necessarily know
to check in. So I love this. Hopefully it helps

(08:47):
