Friday Night, don come to Colase Cold Show Talk to tell him what
you know? He cold class?Have you heard? It's spread the word,

(00:29):
It's st John can boost Joy.It's not Friday Night, but it
is. Later with Mo Kelly cafI Am six forty We're Live Everywhere on
the iHeartRadio app. That bumper thatintro was created by one Eric Lisardo And

(00:49):
as the story goes, we werehaving one of the very early editions of
movie called classic and one of themovies was The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh.
And it got to be a jokebecause that's not a class if people saying
I've never heard of that movie.I don't know that movie. And then
Eric Losardo took it upon himself touse the most prominent song from the movie,

(01:11):
which you heard, and turned itinto a bumper. But what most
people don't know is he has producedbumpers for most of the shows I would
say here on KFI, and hejust sends them to us. He most
recently did Mark Ronners, the RanaReport, He's done, Amy King's done,
wakel Call, Gary and Shannon. So many folk reports SoCal Saturday.

(01:36):
So I wanted to make sure thatyou met him, So let me welcome
to Later with Mo Kelly none otherthan Eric Lesardo. How are you doing,
my friend? How are you?I'm doing well. Where are you
from, Eric? I am fromCorona? Oh Raise? What made you
start listening to the KFI? Wasit osmosis someone else in the house or

(01:57):
uh? Yeah, I mean actuallyduring the pandemic, I would I wanted
to set a schedule because I wasstill working but working from home. Wanted
to set a schedule, and I'dwake up every day at five to the
Jen at the time wake up call, and and I I just started listening
and and and listening to things thatshe would say and and things would be

(02:19):
funny. And and one day Idecided she did a she's mentioned a baby
Shark. How bad that song is? Right? And I thought, hmmm,
let me see if I gotta writea wake up call version of Baby
Shark. And I threw it together, sent it to them, and it's
it's very bad because I just usea bed I found online. But that's

(02:43):
it. Yeah, but yeah,I threw that together. And this is
all me, uh doing the voicesand and yeah, it's all about Jena

(03:06):
wake up change. So how longdoes it take you to go from idea
to execution? That that particular onewas like ten minutes. What what's the
instrumentation that you're using that one?Actually? Uh, like I said that

(03:29):
one is I did not record thatone. That's only one of the ones.
I did not record all the music. I found a bead online and
I just I kind of chopped ittogether to fit what I wanted to do,
or using like pro tools or actuallyat that point, I do use
pro Tools, That's what I alwaysuse. That one. I use Audacity,
the free downloaded Yeah, wow,you use I. I I get

(03:53):
it. I love the marvel ofit, but I just know that Audacity
is very limited. Yeah it is. And I but I just threw the
on one track and just threw allthe vocals on other tracks. I didn't
even use the mic I used forrecording everything. It was just the mic
at my desk, and and itwas just it was still never expected to
get on the air. I sentit to Alex Razzoh thank you Alex Razzo,

(04:14):
and the next morning they played itand I hit my wife and like
it, I'm on the air. There's nothing more beautiful than hearing something you
created on the air. You cansay that it was crazy and that and
and if you really listen to it, the timings all off and then I
could have done way better. Ido way better now. But what was
the next one that you did?The next one I did? Uh?

(04:34):
John Ramirez, their ex engineer, was talking about how much he hated the
Tiki Room. Anything Disney could theyget rid of. This is also music
bed though I didn't do the musicon this one. All right, here
we go something. Oh my gosh, the Tiki Room, words out of
there and everything. It doesn't ratherthinks Jondremanag. He's a giant Disney fan.

(05:09):
He loves everything about the Disney Land. If you ask should make different
plans blow up in an instant.Man, it doesn't like. The thing
is Donald doesn't like to take room, and neither does shut it socks.

(05:29):
How long does it take you tolayer the vocals? Uh? Three part
harmony? Yeah, three part harmony? That one probably a few hours.
I'm thinking as a musician, Iknow that's labor intensive. Yeah, yes,
yeah, Sometimes I don't like howit sounds. And obviously and and
and I'll do it over and overand over again. On Nick Poliochini's song

(05:51):
that speaking of thank you very much, Nick, You're the one big reason
why I'm here because you introduced meto this show. But yeah, his
uh uh what's it week this weekendwith Nick song? Uh huh he uh.
I thought of uh that virtual insanityto fit with Polliochini for some reason,

(06:14):
and that one. I probably recordedvocals about one hundred times, just
over and over, and this iswhat it came. And I still don't
like the really yeah, I actuallywant to redo it. Okay, let's
listen to it. Yeah, yeah, this weein. If you know what

(06:38):
fun this weekend? Just listen toNick. He's young friends to find fun
things to do and see and allthat's on the scene from Visibles Museum not
very commons needed. You can betthat Nick knows one surrounds o'kame this weekend?
This hafen we niylly guinea, Sotell us what's doing? What dude,

(07:05):
we go do and see? Thisweek is jump in wednay call guinea
for now There is tell us soyou can song, So tell us Snick

(07:25):
what's going on. There's a coreprogression in there which is so cool.
You drop a half step in thereit's right here, snack, what's right?
It's song tell us Nick right there, smooth brother, smooth sweet.

(07:46):
But actually I'm not that great atpiano, so I kind of piece that
together. But but that's the magicof multi tracks. Yeah, absolutely,
yeah, So what are you usingfor keyboards? I had to have a
Roland eighty eight key, you know, just use. Most of my sounds
are off that. I mean evenI think even that tambourine on that was

(08:09):
from the keyboard. I was whathe I was what because people couldn't see
if I was making a tambourine handmotion, whether you're using a real tambourine
or a shake or or a computervised version of it. Yeah, I
think it was. The keyboard givesyou that. I have an electric drum
kit, so lots of times I'llthere's a tambourine sound, and I'll play
it on that because it's more naturalsounding. We have to go to break.
Eric Lisardo who just tuning in.He is a musical genius and he

(08:33):
does all these bumpers for many ofthe shows here on KFI. I don't
know if there's a bigger fan thanEric Lisarto, because he's put in hours
and hours before we go to break, give me one of the ones that
you feel that you're most proud of. Ummmm, I actually like the Mark
Roners song the most recently brilliant, brilliant, Well, it was the Jerry
Goldsmith of KFI, not the HansZimmer Goldsmith, because Goldsmith could do like

(08:58):
something weird, an experimental for alogan's run, and then turn right around
and do a Chinatown jazz noir soundtrackthat can bring a tear to your eye.
Look at the breadth of the stuffthat he's done. Well, this
is the new theme intro bumper tothe Runner Report, Nature talks aboutificates about

(09:24):
pop culture, Ron and Report withMark ronnerf I AM six forty is Later
with Mo Kelly. We're live everywhereon the iHeartRadio app More with Eric Lisardo
in just a moment, you're listeningto Later with Mo Kelly on demand from

(09:48):
kf I A M six forty forty. It's Later with Mo Kelly. Just

(10:20):
to be clear, that was thework of Eric Lesardo. One of the
many great pieces Bumpers we called himthat he's done just out of the goodness
of his heart. Pro bono forKFI. I've been trying to get this
guy to accept some payment from me. I say that because I know that
these are labors of love. Butyou've been doing these for years, and

(10:43):
they all take their labor intensive aswell they are. I'm quite sure now
it probably gets easier a little bitover the years. But in that timmy
time, bumper, who else wassinging? Oh yeah, that's my daughter,
Brady? Yeah? Did you atleast pay her? No every day?

(11:03):
And where does the music come from? What is the inspiration most of
the time? Well, that oneobviously was uh they actually asked me for
that one. I'm sorry, butyou you personally growing up was something that
was always in your life. Yeah, Edward van Halen was a huge influenced

(11:24):
Right away, I was like,I gotta figure out how to play guitar,
and I started learning his stuff.I'm still learning his stuff, but
but yeah, I just that andall of as nice hair bands and and
and but yeah, any any anythinglike that. I just learning guitar,

(11:45):
and eventually I joined bands and Iwas in a lot of cover bands,
playing four days a week and andjust doing that, and that helped me
learn a lot about more about musicand and how many instruments. Would you
say that you play or could play? I could play drums, guitars,

(12:07):
bass, I just reached it.For that song, I had to learn
banjo. Unfortunately I had one thatmight just had to learn banjo for one
piece and and and get it.Well, it's not that different than guitar.
Actually it is. It's a littlebit harder. It's a little bit
harder. I don't we don't havetime to get all the minor variations.

(12:28):
But I was asking when you didthe fish to say Pittsburgh bumper for me.
I took great delight in that bassline, and I was asking you.
People couldn't see, but I wasasking, was it four or five string
bass? What is your weapon ofchoice when you're playing bass? I have
I only have one bass with afive string bass? Is it what brand?

(12:50):
It's a Fender or something? Iwould say, it's you know,
I don't even remember. It's it'ssomething else. I don't remember. I
think it's a Scheckter, Okay, you think so? Yeah? Yeah,
I always wanted because that was basswas one of my instruments growing up,
and so I'm always going to bemore in tune when I hear some good
bass or you have a good runor or a low e string riff or

(13:11):
something like that. Yeah. Yeah, And that's funny too because speaking of
my growing up, I was inlike jazz band and in high school,
and the jazz band I was guitarist. We weren't the same time because we're
the same ay yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, And I was a
guitarist, but they already had aguitarist. They're like, here's a bass
And that's actually pretty much where Ilearned how to play bass was jazz band

(13:31):
in high school. And also Iwas our our tuba players in marching band
weren't that good, so they putme on the sidelines with a bass and
an amp playing all the tuba parts. So all the football games, well
I was playing bass all the tuba parts. That's not fair because I
was playing bass in jazz band. But they needed something for me to do

(13:54):
in marching bands. So that's whenthey put me on tom's and then snare,
oh really yeah, can't play electedbass on the sideline? They actually
did that. Oh my goodness,is not fair. I guess our two
players players were that bad. Well, you know, bass players always say
come to say the day give meanother one that you're really proud of just
for musicality. Oh jeez, musicality. You're putting me on the spot,

(14:18):
no pressure. Yeah, how aboutthanks, mo, I'm really putting me
on the spot. Actually, uh, do you have the Atlantic coon Lockes
song there? Yes, As amatter of fact, I do. That
was a request by Jane Wells.I had to do a lot of stuff

(14:39):
with slide and I kind of likemy slide playing on that. Here we
go, Hey, Eric Lozardo makinga Landy coon lock song? And is
a harm name? I can't hername is agreed? That is sometimes even

(15:09):
she's gathering news right, and yeah, I don't think he really a lady
lieutenants luck luckas Okay, I'll neverforget it. Now. That's at least

(15:31):
four part harmony, and that soundslike sometimes five if you doubled some of
the party. For the non musiciansout there, that's like mimicking five singers.
Put that way, the ghosts ofLes Paul and Mary Ford are what
was it? If you're a musician, we could have an hour long conversation

(15:52):
on just that one. The musicality. Yeah, I love that one actually,
and it got played one of course, what we need to play that
just because look, whoever's producing Twallett, we need to find a Ladys story
each week just because we can playthat one. Yeah. Yeah, that
one was really fun because I,you know, drew back on my jazz

(16:17):
roots and from from high school andstuff. And then the snare drum.
The brushes, yes, you knowmy electric kit has a brush sound.
They have an electric brush sound.Yeah, and I just I use regular
sticks, but I got it soundslike a stirring. Yeah. I had
to do the stirring and all thatstuff. I had to learn how to
do it, but I did itand it worked. Well. We're almost
out of time as far as thissegment, but we're going to keep you

(16:40):
around because we want to talk StarWars with you. They can't see,
but you have the Star Wars haton right now. Yes, so give
us one more that She's like, hey, well, this is one where
like look if they've only been playedone time, like a Lady Kunlachus,
But it's one of the ones I'mmost proud of. Oh here we go,
Lady wake up call. This isprobably one of my funniest ones.
Got my daughter helps me on thisone too, But hold on. Alex

(17:03):
and Jen are stars on this one. They're they're the main book. They're
in it. Okay, hey, wake go call listen. Just listen to
the Soul Sisters. Call listeners, listen to the Soul Sisters. Lady away
go car Yeah yeah, Tyler, come on. Oh I'm I'm fluid and

(17:45):
fresh? Are you lying? Yes? Okay. They are not as accomplished
as singers as you are, apparentlynot. Give us, give us one
more. Oh man, man,you do this all right? How about
throw the wall was so Cal Saturdayin there? All right? Here we

(18:07):
go. Yeah, we's so CalSaturday? Now, nay, you're back
to Wallace. Sharp is on theshow is so Cal Saturday? This?
This is so Cal song? It'sso Cal Saturday, Saturday Saturday and Saturday

(18:27):
Saturday Saturday. Twell, the sameSaturday. This is the word? Is

(18:56):
the word? This is so Cal? Did you throw in some greases the
word at the end? I know, I know this. You know the
song that you I don't want tosay parody, but you based it on.
Yes, it's a roller skating song. I get that. But but
for you to throw on greases theword, I guess we'll call it interpolation.

(19:19):
But yeah, yeah, on thatone, I didn't want to ruin
my daughter's Taylor Swift record, soI actually had to sample the scratching on
right. That's what everything else isall me. It's Later with bo Kelly.
We'll have more with Eric Lesardo andmore of his great bumpers. In
just a moment, you're listening toLater with Moe Kelly on demand from KFI

(19:42):
a M six forty. I'm stilljoined in the studio by Eric Lesardo,
who is a genius in his ownright. He may not say that he's
very unassuming, he's very humble, but the music that he's provided KFI is
brilliant, the bits, the bumpers. And you've done something for Later with
mo Kelly. You've done something forwake Up Call, the Folk Report,

(20:07):
soul Cout, Saturday, who amI forgetting? Also will handle show bill
handle show that it didn't air?But but uh, Dean Sharp, I've
done a couple of songs for Dean. Oh, you've done Dean. Which
one we should play for Dean?Thank goodness? Yeah, thank goodness for
Dean. But that's that one actuallywas on wake Up Call. So that
was a wake up Call thing. That he was on the air with him,

(20:27):
and he said something funny, andand Nick Nick Pouliochini said something and
and I built this out of itwell. Like Nick said before our segment,
thank goodness for Dean. Also,by the way, the name of
my new half hour said, come, thank goodness for please you are and

(21:11):
I mean this in the best waypossible. You are a sick individual to
be able to think about that andthen bring it to fruition, to turn
that idea into reality. That's somethingelse my wife Didri used to say,
I love the way you think. Now it kind of a noise or sometimes
that's marriage for you. Let metell you. So, Okay, let's

(21:32):
make sure we get as many showstouched upon as possible. You mentioned a
fork report, right, yeah, okay, let's see what you did for
the report from two to pull upand take a see. How many tracks

(22:11):
is that? Music tracks? Ishould say this drums, bass, guitar
okay, straight forward, okay, yeah, very straightforward, and two or
three voices vocal tracks I should sayone lead vocal and then stacking of myself
just going no, no, no, you know, doing all those background
probably ten parts, maybe twenty solike twenty four. Are you just doubling

(22:34):
them or actually I'm just doubling themand like backing off the mics, you
know, all over the place. There is one that you did for Nick
Poliochini as well, and you usehappy, Oh just a Guy for him,
And that was when I really startedlistening, like, wait a minute,

(22:55):
the music Cali on this is reallyreally tight. So that's one of

(23:23):
my favorites. One because the songhappy is one of my favorites. The
music, the harmony in there isso tight. It was it difficult to
reproduce that harmony. Y no,okay, because because I know with the
upper register it could be more difficult. Actually, my voice, I'm usually
singing upper upper register, like likethat's where I'm comfortable singing cover bands.

(23:45):
I was in. I used tosing Don't Stop Believing. That was like
one of the art ending song Isaid. In that song. I also
sang just is on a vacation followThat was my song, you know,
because I could sing that register. So those upper registers are usually pretty easy
for me. It's the lower stuff. It's that that gets hard. Well,
then now come by and do alittle baritone like it before we got

(24:10):
we got about two minutes, anytwo that you would like to hear that
other people should hear. It's like, this is an example of me at
my best if we haven't already playedit. Yeah, Actually the Halloween songs,
the let's Let's go for Nick?Is Nick's Halloween song in there?
The what did you title it as? I don't know if I haven't.

(24:36):
No, not that one. Thisis poly Is that one in there?
No, you didn't put it in. This is wake up call? This
is wake up call Halloween. Yeah, that five other girl Jens Queene used

(25:07):
Jonesy. This is like a call. This is like a call, like
a calling. James got to askyou how many vocal checks because it sounds

(25:37):
like thirty five people don't even remember. That's probably I think it was sixty
with my daughter included. And Uh, to get that lower register, I'd
wake as soon as I'd wake upin the morning, I'd record those parts
because I could go really low.And the orchestrations on that are all my
keyboard and orchestra plug ins. Wow, this has been a wonderful time talking
to you. We had met brieflyat Wiggle Waggle, but to bring you

(26:02):
in studio and have you talk aboutyour genius again? It's that word,
but it's well deserved. Thank youfor coming out this evening and close us
out with one of yours one ofmine? Yes, one more? Please?
Uh putting me on the spot again? Man, I know, I
know if pushed up the show,we can always do Elani Coolan locks again,

(26:22):
can't go on? Yeah, goahead and do that all right,
it's later with Kelly Eric Liso realquickly? Do you want people to reach
out to you? Yeah? Goodsocial media, Eric Lesardo, Eric Lostardo
dot com. I have original musicat never Broken music dot com. That's
bad mixes of stuff, but it'solder music, but stuff I want to

(26:45):
rework. Yeah, Eric Lesardo dotcom. Elani lock Is one more time?
Can even say the word hey?Eric Lozardo making a LANDI Kuonloch song
and then icon o. Luckas isa har name to me. I can't

(27:07):
think of her name. Luckas isagreed, that is sometimes differicult to said.
I don't know Aconic even though she'sGavin's right, and yeah, that's
in fact, I don't think hereally knows her name. That a lady.

(27:30):
She's the lieutenant gumnor of Lucus,Lady Luckas Okay, I'll never forget
it now. K f I Msix forty We're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio
