Let's talk about going to the movies. I told you yesterday I went to
the movie so the first time ina while, went to see Bad Boys
Ride or Die. Thoroughly enjoyed it. But the need to go to an
actual movie theater, it's just notthe same. I mean, I didn't

want to wait forty five days towatch the movie, so I said,
let me just take my behind tothe movie theater. I have some time
earlier in the day. It wasone of the few mornings which wasn't really
overbooked for me, so it allowedme the opportunity to go. But if
it wasn't for a movie I reallyreally wanted to see, I wouldn't have
gone. I believe I'm not specialin that regard. I believe that people

have to find reasons to go tothe theaters. By and large, By
and large, we're not going tothe theater as often as we did pre
pandemic, and the data bears thatout. Movie theaters are closing left and
right. In fact, I waschecking out the news just the other day
and they're the the Alamo Drafthouse Theaterin Dallas, Fort Worth two Theater chains,

Alamo Draft House Theater and the Angelicaor Angelica Theater makes up six different
theaters in North Dallas announced closures ofthose theaters and it says, quote unquote,
it breaks my heart that after tenyears this is where we are left.
But the huge number of losses tothe business sustained were simply too big

for us to continue operations. That'sBill Giguetano, the owner of six locations
in a company memo. What hashappened is fewer people are going to the
movies. Now. You can attributethat to the pandemic. I'm quite sure
that's part of it. You canattribute that to movie a tigue where the
whole process of going to the theatersand Mark has talked about it, I've

talked about it. When you're goingto the theater, there as certain things
that you have to put up withthat you don't want to put up with
or you don't have to put upwith anymore. My trigger people kick in
the back of my seat, kidsacting unruly, kids talking to the movie.
Those are the things which make themovie going experience less than optimal suboptimal.
So if there's a reason for meto stay home, that's my reason.

Mark's reasons are different than mine.To all those reasons may be different
than mine. The bottom line iswe are not going to the movie theater
as often as we did, andwe were avid moviegoers. And we talked
about this last year. I said, there are fewer movies being released.
The movies which are being released arestaying in movie theaters for a shorter amount

of time, and people our hometheater system is better than ever before.
It is more comfortable, the soundquality is it exceptional, and we're getting
first run movies sooner than ever before. We have every reason not to go
to the movies, and now you'reseeing the results of that. It's not

I don't think it's called superhero fatigue. I just think that there are fewer
movies, there are fewer quality movies, and there's just fewer reasons to go
because even if I wanted to,I could have waited it. In theory,
I could have waited forty five daysfor Bad Boys, Ride or Die
to hit streaming and I would havebeen able to see it. You don't
have to wait six months anymore.And there's also this AMC they've done it

before, but they're really really promotingit and focusing on it now. They're
offering three dollars movies throughout the summer, and the movies that they're offering they're
like kids movies, movies that arefive years old, ten years old.
What they hope is the three dollarsticket price will be the enticement to get
you in and maybe your kids andyou spend another forty dollars on concessions because

they're offering family food packs to goalong with that, dipping packs that everything
is attached to a pack and sometype of combo. Yeah, and for
me, that is not you know, that's not enticing. That's not anything
for me. Out Regal Cinemas isoffering dollar movies for you and your family

this summer. They want you toget in there and spend money elsewheres.
And remember I said, it's notabout whether a blockbuster does well on the
weekend. These theaters are open sevendays a week. Presumably you have to
justify the expenditures for staff. Thatperson who's going to work the register and

popcorn machine very very slowly, whois not in any hurry, who does
not care about you getting into yourmovie on time, but nonetheless, they
still have to pay that person minimumwage. Wherever you are, you're still
you're still bitter about having to waitfor your your vegan nuggets. You can't
let that. No, No,you can't. No. Mark, I
my experience with Bad Boys. Lovedthe movie. I hated the theater going

experience because the moron at the countercould not tell me when hot dogs would
be done. I said, howlong before the hot dogs? He said,
I'm sorry, I can't sell themto you because they're they're not ready
yet. I'm like, I seethey're not ready. How long? I
can't tell you, sir, Ican't tell it to you before. I'm
like, I'm like, what isthe problem that we're having? I said,

give me a time. I can'tsay they're not done cooking. I
wouldn't tolerate. I'm like at thispoint, I'm like, I hate you.
I hate this theater. This theatershould shut down because of you.
I'm surprised you didn't burn it tothe ground. Honestly, but if you
were at home, he could havehad that hot dog how he wanted it,
when he wanted it. He watchedthe movie when he wanted it could

have paused it because his prostate wasin large to get into the bathroom.
What I'm saying is it's a wholelot easier to enjoy that theater experience at
home. Ten years ago, youdid not have an option. The only
way you're gonna see good movies,even though we had rentals, was you
still to see the top movies,you had to go to the theaters.

That's no longer the case. Well, you make a good point. Touala
has full control over all his wienerexperiences at home, not so much at
a theater. Is going to makea weir. We're not talking. I
can't take you anywhere on you wego to movies constantly. You know why
I never have that problem. Takea guess. I don't know you had

your prostate removed. No, youyou can check it's still there, you
said, take a guess. No, No, I never ordered the garbage
you to eat. You too eatfood like your like you're on your death
row. Last meal. No,it's not true. Live on now.

Every day. I have seen youdisappear two hot dogs in a row before
a movie starts, Yeah, becausethere's thirty minutes. But the point is,
if you're really paying attention. Yeah, streaming is having some difficulties trying
to find their own equilibrium as faras a price point. But movie theaters

as we know them, they're notcoming back. And even in that story
about the North Dallas theaters, theysaid, you know, we can't survive
in this present environment. Well,the only alternative is streaming. It doesn't
mean that because streaming is going toprice some people out of the market and
we will cancel our subscriptions, itdoesn't mean people run back to the movies.

Well, can I add an addendumhere? Part part of the story
that you're talking about, You mentionedAlamo draft House. Sony just bought some
of those, and it's the firsttime that's been done since the regulations were
eliminated that have been in existence sincethe forties that forbade motion picture companies from
owning the theaters where they're movies play. So this could make a difference.

You're saying that Sony would be moreinclined to rejuvenate these theaters. Yeah,
possibly, Yeah, but you alsohave to make sure you have to have
the product, the content because it'sone thing for the movie studio to own
the movie theater. We're talking about, like the content delivery system. I

still have to be persuaded to goto that movie theater because Sony, let's
say put it in superhero terms beforewe go to break, go ahead and
talk about Madam web just for example. It could be Madam Webb. It
could be anything under that Sony banner, which is inclusive of Venom or even
spider Man, because they have thecinematic rights for that. It doesn't mean

that I want to go to amovie theater or specifically an Alamo draft house
movie theater. This was the problemwith AMC because you remember they were buying
up these smaller movie houses which weregoing out of business, and it was
an easy investment. You didn't haveto build it. It was already there.
You just have to buy it up. And then they were they thought
that that was a good business proposition. Big picture has not turned out that

way. We know the AMC stockhas gone to the floor, if not
the basement. And here you arewhere you're depending on three dollars movies throughout
the summer through the height of themovie summer movie season to help supplement what
you're what you're doing, and tryingto keep asses and seats through the week
as opposed to having those big boxoffice weekends which just don't exist anymore.

how movie theaters are contracting, theatersare closing. That's not new, but
I want to highlight what's going onin North Dallas. Two theater train the

chains of six theaters closed this pastweek and it was it was it was
a surprise to its theater goers.And also you have AMC and Regal with
these discount tickets that they're promoting toget people in families, uh more expressly
in theaters during the summer where theywould obviously make more money off the concessions

as opposed to the three dollar ticketsat AMC or the dollar tickets with Regal.
But you can see that's how desperatea lot of these movie theater chains
are now. With this move that'shappening in Texas with Sony purchasing Alamo Draft
House, I look at that asthis actually could be the wave of the

future and something that could actually savethe theater's period. When you look at
how you have all these companies comingtogether, Disney Max and who is a
Netflix, whatever the bundle is.So you have all these companies that together
have various products that there are filmsthat they're releasing. If you're cutting back

the cost of having to share itwith the theater, because then you then
own the theater and you say,you know what, we're only going to
be open Thursday through Sunday. Wewill save the money, we say,
from having to split that cost withthe theater. We can use to keep
the theaters open and we will showour movies. If if Disney said we're
going to buy a bunch of AMC'salong with Matts and another company companies HBO

or Time Warner, they're releasing movies, Disney's really they're saying, hey,
this weekend, we're putting a movieout. That could be what saves theaters.
But my rebuttal to that is whyeven incur that cost in the first
place. The whole point of streamingwas that you didn't have to buy the
brick and mortar theater. You hada content delivery system where you could go

straight to the consumer. And yes, having your own movie theater means you
don't have to share any of thosethose revenues and you don't have to incur
the costs or splitting it with themovie theater. But why even put that
on your balance sheet where you're makingthese purchases of these physical movie theaters when
that is not going to be thefuture. Does it take maybe a little

longer to get to the point wheremovie theaters are obsolete? I don't know,
But let me put it this way. Let me put it in terms
of what we do audio content.They're moving away from the structured model of
physical radio stations. You know,you can get into your car, if
you know how to work Bluetooth,you can listen to audio content anywhere in

the world. If you want tolisten to someone's radio station in Orlando,
Florida. You can do that well. In our business, they're moving away
from the concept of physical radio stations. What we talk about. We're live
everywhere in the iHeartRadio app. Youknow that's not a physical brick and mortar
station. It's a content location.It's a content delivery system. I think

movies are going that same path whereit may prevent the inevitable, or I
should say slow down the inevitable.But I don't think it's going to prevent
the inevitable. It might not,but I look at a company like Disney
that's providing an entertainment experience. Alot of people still do like that interaction

with people. You know, wewere a little older. We don't want
to be in the theater where kidsthey don't care about the movie, they
just want the experience. They justwant to hang out. So it can
be thea theaters, it can bemore advanced theaters. You know, every
screen is adobey, every screen's gotthe reclined or chairs, every screen's got
the dining actressy experience. But ifyou cut back on the number of theaters,

if you enhance the experience and makeit an entertainment destination versus just going
to the movie. There's a lotmore that they can tie in and with
all those platforms. Think of thisDisney Bundle thing where they're saying, you
know what, on this week,we're just showing the super Bowl. Yeah,

I think they have to be entertainmentdestinations and they also show movies.
And also, yes, there's thisnew quote unquote movie theater complex that they're
putting in by Hollywood Park similar tothat concept. They're gonna show all the
UFC fights, They're gonna show allthe major pay per view sporting events,
and also show movies where you wouldhave a reason to go there, not

expressly or not specifically for movies.And they have the bar. They have
all that kind of entertainment where it'sone of many things that's going on,
not the thing that's going on.Yes, that could do it. That's
gonna be the only way to doit. Can't just be movies. It's

in this Olympics they're going to debutwhat is called high level breakdancing and what
it is called physics in action.Breaking, just in case you didn't know,

originated in the late nineteen seventies inNew York City the Bronx and its
debuting as an Olympic sport this year. Breaking will showcase its dynamic moves on
a global stage for the first timestyle combines hip hop culture, acrobatic moves
and expressive footwork. And I'm notan Olympic purists. Some people think that

(18:10):
only certain events should be part ofthe Olympics. I'm not that person.
The moment you had rhythmic gymnastics andyou had someone twirling a ribbon, all
that purest stuff went out the window. So you might as well just keep
going down that road and sports comeand go. They had baseball, then
then got rid of baseball. Thesports do change over the years and decades.
Break dancing if you can appreciate theathleticism part of it, and if

(18:37):
you know the history, you knowthat it is worldwide. I remember I
was in Spain about fifteen years ago. No, no, it's close to
twenty years ago now, and theamount of acrobatics and the athleticism it is
miles ahead of what I and myfriends were doing in the nineteen eighties.
The whole world has a breakdancing component, and you'll get to see that,

(19:03):
and I would like to see iton the world stage. So I'm not
a purist, but I wonder howthe competition aspect works. Athletes, from
what I read, earn points forcreativity, personality, technique, variety,
performativity, and musicality. Success inthe sport requires combining dance moves from three

(19:26):
basic categories. Top rock. Now, if you go back to me in
the kitchen when I started and I'mstanding up and I'm moving around, that's
top rock. Okay, down rockwhen I get down to the floor,
and freeze when you come to apose. See I know a little something
about breakdance. Yeah, yeah,yeah. The standing moves. The top
rock moves are performed while standing up, focusing on fancy footwork and hand movements.

(19:51):
These movements are reminiscent of hip hopdancing. Top rock moves rely on
having lots of friction between the athletesshoes and the floor. Go back to
my video and you would hear thesqueaking of my shoes on the floor.
Floor moves down rock moves are performedwhile on the floor. Athletes may spin
in circles with their head back,elbows or shoulders touching the ground, and

their feet in the air. Beeboys and be girls rely heavily on an
internal knowledge of physics to complete thesemoves, and that's a true statement.
You may not know how to characterizemoves with respect to the laws of physics,
but you have to understand balance andgrace. And I'll say centrifugal force

in a way, I actually understoodit better in breakdancing than I did in
class. Intellectually, I couldn't explainit, but I can feel it,
you know, doing an egg rollin the centrifugal force of how it keeps
me going, or doing a spinon your hands or your elbow. I
love this because I've also believe thatbreakdancing in the Olympics is an equalizing sport

(21:04):
for both genders. You can beequally good be you male or female in
breakdancing, depending on what you're doing. Like you may have a woman that
who will come up in hr uprock or tabra will kill every guy on
the floor, where you may havesome guy who may get on the ground
and vice versa. Both of thosecan flip. There are some of the

(21:26):
best bee boys and b girls inthe world. It doesn't matter age.
It's not a gender thing. Itis about understanding your body, understanding the
rhythm and understanding how to manipulate thatin an amazingly athletic way. And a
lot of bee boys and beugerls Isee nowadays are also martial artists, and

(21:47):
that is that's kind of like theroot and the core of them learning how
to do a lot of this.There are a lot of commonalities. And
if you've ever seen the movie JimKatta, Jim Katta, Yes, it
is probably one of the worst movehe's ever made. Hey, it's a
bad the guy who made Entered theDragon director at Robert Klausse, I don't

(22:07):
give a damn. Jim Katta froma cinematic standpoint, was not a good
movie, but it highlights the pointthat we're making where there's a synergy between
martial arts, the gymnastics aspect ofthis and breakdancing. Breakdancing is very much
gymnastics. Breakdancing is very much martialarts moves in many ways. If you

look at capu era, it's damnnear breakdancing if you don't know what you're
looking at. So there's a there'sa lot to be learned from breakdancing from
a cultural standpoint, from a scientificstandpoint, from an athletic standpoint. I'm
interested to see how it's going toplay out on an Olympic stage, whether
it will stay an event for generations. I have no idea. They originally

(22:56):
said that rap music wouldn't be aroundall that long. It was a past
fad, and here we are fiftyyears later. It's not slowing down.
There's no telling. There's no telling. And again, I'm not trying to
make fun of rhythmic gymnastics, butI'm gonna make fun of rhythmic gymnastics.
If you can do gymnastics with aribbon in your hand, and they call
that an Olympic sport, why not. Look, they're trying to get hobby

horsing into the Paris Olympics, soyou can miss me with not allowing breakdancing.
Okay, hobby horsing, why not? Who doesn't want to ride around
on a stick. No hr,Yeah, I thought hobby horsing was a
