You're listening to Later with Moe Kellyon demand from KFI AM six forty.
It's Later with Moe Kelly. Weare alive everywhere on the iHeartRadio app and
its are in c closing night. We are awaiting at this point UFC President
and CEO Dana White. He isnext on the convention schedule. Son Eric

(00:23):
Trump just finished speaking to the Milwaukeeaudience. Right now. There is a
bit of a pause. If you'rewatching the different news feed news feeds,
you will see Evanka this first timeI've seen Avanka in the house. Ivanka
and Jared are in the house. You see a vice presidential candidate jd Vance
and his wife. So just aboutall the Republican luminaries are here. Of

(00:46):
course, because this is the biggestnight of the RNC. We're waiting for
former President Trump to formally and officiallyaccept the presidential nomination for the Republican Party.
I would expect him to all forhis vision for America for the next
four years. We don't know whattone he's going to take. We don't

(01:07):
know what strategy he's going to employ. And I say strategy because this is
against a backdrop of the I don'twant to say breaking news, but I
would say the whispered campaign about PresidentJoe Biden, who allegedly may may not
definitely, but may drop out ofthe race between now and the end of

(01:30):
the weekend. Whether that news wouldimpact the former president's speech, don't know.
That's something I'm curious to see.And whether that impacts the news cycle,
I'm definitely curious to see. AndI talked about this last night.
How these conventions, there is conventionalwisdom for these conventions, and there's some
norms. There's some unstated rules wherewhen there is a party's convention and process,

(01:56):
the other party is supposed to takea back seat. They're not supposed
to be campaigning in the way thatthey usually do. They're not supposed to
be buying ads on the other partiesconvention news time. It's almost like an
understood degree of respect where you allowthe other party uninterrupted time. And for
the most part that has been thecase. And if you throw into the

(02:20):
to the pot that Joe Biden isdealing with COVID, you can see is
his absence is not as magnified asif it would have been maybe a week
or two ago. But since thatrumor is floating around that President Joe Biden
may drop out of the race betweennow and Monday. It remains to be

(02:42):
seen what the Democrats are going todo. I'll say tonight, going into
the weekend, will they hunker downand be relatively silent or will they drump
I would say, amp up thewhisper campaign to a deafening pitch to where
they almost forced out Joe Biden. And I don't know how this is going
to play out within the Democratic Party. It's probably not going to go overwell,

(03:07):
if only because they're going to beunhappy voters who voted for Joe Biden
during the primary and want to stickwith Joe Biden. There are gonna be
those people, let's say, likeCongressman Dean Phillips, and say hey,
I should have gotten a better chance, a fair chance during the primary.
You may see him and other peopleat the DNC next month put their names

(03:30):
back in the hat. Because fromwhat we understand, if Joe Biden were
not to seek the nomination and itwould be an open convention, most likely
he would not endorse Kamala Harris hisvice president, not because he doesn't necessarily
believe in her, but he doesn'twant to be seen as putting his thumb

(03:50):
on the scale again and further directinghow the party goes if he's not going
to be the nominee. And lookingat the feed right now, former First
Lady Malania Trump has just entered theconvention, walking on to the convention floor,
acknowledging those who are in the house. And I said last night,
where is former First Lady Milania Trump? Well, she reserved her appearance for

(04:15):
tonight. Notice I'm seeing Ivanka andalso Jared in the house for the first
time tonight. So the whole family, from what I can tell, is
in the convention center and will bepresident for the former president when he gives
his remarks. But let me goback to Joe Biden. As far as
what may happen as a convention,he would not endorse Kamala Harris, and

(04:36):
we don't know what other names mightbe submitted. We don't know how that
will play out. And I knowthat there's some people saying, hey,
this is not fair, this isagainst the elections. And I want to
remind people that these parties are privateentities, they are private corporations. They
can handle their nomination procedures just abouthowever they want with respect. They do

(05:00):
have bylaws in general rules, butit doesn't mean it is handled like a
general election would be handled, orelection for an elective office. These are
private institutions. Let me give youanother example. Have you ever noticed how
there's no primary system for Jill Steinor the Green Party will go to a
hotel for a weekend, have araising keegar of a party and all of

(05:23):
a sudden they emerged with a nomineethis year was a doctor Cornell West.
You think, well, how didthat happen? Well, very simply,
that's how they decided. They justchoose. It's up to the individual parties
to choose. They don't have tobe beholden to you or to me.
I'm registered independent. I don't geta vote during the primaries because most of

(05:45):
the primaries, including California, areclosed in that regard. But the parties
will do what is in their bestinterests. And I always use the analogy
of McDonald's. McDonald's may send youa survey. They may send Stephen and
Mark Hay good evening guys. Theymay send them a survey saying, well,
do you want McDonald's to start sellinghot dogs? We were thinking about

(06:05):
selling chili dogs and corn dogs, and everyone in America may send back that
survey and say, yeah, wewant to see corn dogs and chili dogs
on a McDonald's menu, and millionsof people may respond, and then McDonald's
may have Dan and say, eh, you know what, we're a hamburger
company and we're going with hamburgers. We're sticking with Hamburgers. You know,
all, y'all go to hell. That's how it works. It's a marketing

(06:30):
survey. It is a focus group. They're asking your opinion, but you
don't necessarily have as much say asyou might think. So as we get
ready to go to break, justletting you know, the convention floor people
are milling around. We're waiting forthe next speaker, which is going to
be UFC CEO and President Dana White. He's been a long time staunch Trump

(06:55):
supporter. And this is of nosurprise you may have missed. Earlier in
the evening they had the Hulk Hoganup up there offering remarks and support of
former President Trump, and he cameout in character and form what I understand,
he even ripped off his shirt.Weird, but hey, it's your
party, you can do what youwant to. But when we come back,
we expect to hear from Dana White. We will be carrying his remarks

(07:16):
live. We'll be carrying the formerpresident's remarks live as he officially accepts the
nomination. And also Kid Rock.I guess he has a special number which
is planned in support and I'll say, yeah, just in support of Donald
Trump. You'll be playing that.Strangely enough, after Donald Trump's remarks.

(07:36):
Usually the nominee ends the convention. You usually have the nominee speak except the
nomination and that's the end. ButI guess they're going to have a closing
performance from Kid Rock. We'll bringit all to you, so there's no
need to leave KFI. You'll hearit all right here. We're live everywhere
on the iHeartRadio app. You're listeningto Later with Moe Kelly on demand from

(07:58):
KFI, AMSI the RNC. They'vechanged the order. It should have been
Dana White of the UFC. Thatis the rundown we were given, and
Kid Rock was supposed to perform atthe end after Donald Trump. But he's
performing one of his songs that hechanged the words to obviously feature the fight
anthem from this past Saturday. Theyshowed people around the arena. Some people

(08:22):
could keep up with the beat, others did not feel like joining in,
But I think it was well receivedoverall. Before the break, I was
telling you about the rundown of theschedule, and I said, it found
it odd that the originally, atleast they put Kid Rock after Donald Trump,
which would have been weird because youusually close the convention with your nominee

(08:46):
and that's it. You want yournominee to have the last word. That's
how you close out the night. So I found it odd, and I
was talking to Twalla's like he foundit odd. And then we were noticing
that there was this long lull fromthe end of Eric Trump's speech, and
the different news anchors on the differentnetworks were trying to what we'd say is

(09:07):
vamp. They were just trying totap dance, trying to fill the time
because there was no one on stage, no one coming to the podium.
Even though on the rundown, theofficial rundown that we were given, Dana
White of the UFC was supposed tobe speaking in that slot. Now I
see Dana White, He's emerged fromthe wings. He is now coming to
the stage and we will now havehis remarks. Live good evening, ladies

(09:30):
and gentlemen. I am Dana White. I am the CEO and president of
the Ultimate Fighting Championship. So twoweeks ago I got a call from President
Trump asking me if i'd be willingto speak tonight. As usual, there
was no pressure, no demands. He asked me as a friend, and

(09:52):
of course I said yes. Thenafter I accepted his offer, he sent
me a text message, and Ijust want to read to you a little
piece of what President Trump wrote tome, Dana. I'm so honored that
you will be doing the introduction atthe National Republican Convention. Think of it

(10:13):
as the biggest fight you ever had, a fight for our country and even
the world. I only wish youdidn't have to interrupt your family trip,
but I hope they understand. Theylove you, and they know how important
this is. Now, think aboutthis. This man's running for president of

(10:33):
the United States, he's fighting forthe future of this country, and he's
concerned about interrupting my family trip. That's the President Trump that I know,
a man who truly cares about people. The mainstream media elects to push the
narrative that he doesn't care about anyonebut himself. Absolutely know that's not the

(10:58):
truth, because I've been friends withthis guy for twenty five years, and
for the people who know me,they'll know this is true. I just
want to make something very clear.Nobody in the Trump campaign has ever told
me what to say. Nobody tellsme what to say, and I'm nobody's
puppet. And I'm not telling youwhat to think. I'm telling you what

(11:26):
I know, and I know PresidentTrump. I know President Trump is a
fighter. I've been saying this sincetwenty fifteen. Now, look at what's
happened over the last ten years. We have all seen it with our own
eyes. I'm in the tough guybusiness, and this man is the toughest,
most resilient human being that I've evermet in my life. The higher

(11:54):
the stakes, the harder he fights. And this guy never ever gives up.
So what's at stake here? Theanswer is in President Trump's text,
and I quote a fight for ourcountry. I know why he's running for
president again. Why else would heput himself through everything he's dealt with just

(12:16):
to get back here? We allknow he doesn't need this. This guy's
got a great life. He hasa beautiful family, and he has achieved
everything that you could possibly achieve inlife. I know President Trump is literally
putting his life on the line forsomething bigger than himself, and he's willing
to risk it all because he lovesthis country. And I know he wants

(12:46):
what's best for the American people, all American people. I know he's running
for president to save our American dream. I'm living the American dream, and
I know the American dream is real, whether you were born in this country
or came here from someplace else. This is the last real land of opportunity.

(13:11):
President Reagan once said government first dutyis to protect the people, not
run their lives. And if you'reburied a government red tape, how will
you ever start your own business? If you're struggling to pay your bills,
how can you ever afford to starta family. And if you don't feel
safe in your own town, whywould you ever buy a house. I

(13:33):
know the President Trump is fighting tosave the American dream, and that's what's
at stake in this election. Weare choosing who we want to lead us
in this fight. I know PresidentTrump is a proven leader a fearless leader,
and this country was in a muchbetter place when he was in the

(13:56):
Oval office. In my mind, the choice is clear. But this election,
we all get to choose. Iknow I'm gonna choose strength and security.
I know I'm gonna choose opportunity ofprosperity. I know I'm gonna choose
real American leadership and a real Americanbadass. And I'm not telling you what

(14:30):
choice to make, and I'm nottelling you what to think. I'm telling
you what I know. I knowAmerican needs a strong leader in the world
needs a strong America. I knowDonald J. Trump is the best choice
for President of the United States,my fellow Americans, and it's my honor

(14:50):
to introduce the forty fifth and soonto be forty seventh President of the United
States, Donald J. Trump. You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on
