Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres in
the Bonus with Doug Gottlieb.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What I mean the Bonus The Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports
Radioheart Radio app. We are back from Vegas. You know
there's something interesting here, right, Like I like to travel,
(00:32):
and I'd be honest with you, I was, I've been.
I've been in Vegas a thousand times and so I
don't do the touristy stuff. But man, they've kind of
stepped up since COVID. They've kind of brought it in
a big way. Obviously you have the Sphere, which is
not yet opened, and I know everybody's freaking out about
the the led board, which is incredible, but supposedly the
(00:57):
actual theater experiences is even better. You have all these
arenas and all these shows and all these you have
the USC Fight, the same night Summer League. I guess
here's the question, JAYSU. Should we feel bad or is
maybe it's the most American thing ever that while so
many want these like nature hikes and go to places
(01:17):
where you can be with nature and turn off your
cell phone, like that is man made fun. Everything in
Vegas is man made. You know, our hotel had had
a beach man made that is the most man made, artificial,
coolest time ever. And I don't I'm not really complaining
about it. There's a place in that place, in that
(01:38):
world for me. And you're somebody who's like a wonder
lust a big traveler, you like hikes and being outdoors.
But there is definitely a place for in you. Is
there not just the gambling.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Oh man, that's my town. I love that place, but
to your point, very artificial like aesthetically and artificial in
just like every sense. I often feel small in that
town as there's just a ton of money, a ton
of nice things. It's easy to feel kind of I
(02:11):
don't know what you would call it, overwhelmed, But to
your point, I think that's the reason why. And I'm
gonna take this in a really weird place. In the
years after nine to eleven, like we kept hearing from
like spies and the people that know that Vegas is
like the biggest target on their list over there, because
you're right, it I think represents America in every way,
(02:34):
shape or for right.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
It really does. There. They are also like and there
are there are people that are very fit in Vegas.
There are a lot of people that are not very
It is a snapshot of of right.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Oh, don't get me started on the smoking.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
And it's way better than it used to be, but still,
like it's the biggest practicy I've never seen that many
people smoke before. You forget, you know, you absolutely forget.
Of course, Ramos, that's the only place he travels to.
He's got a little bit of a problem.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
We know that Suzanne loves Vegas.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Loves Vegas, she does.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
It's one of it's her number one place to go to.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Really, what's she like to play?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
She likes to play the slots.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
She loves all the you know the bonuses that come
with the slot games. You know, you get like five
in a row and you get like to touch a
bunch of buttons and win. Like, she loves that stuff.
She could spend three hours, four hours there just just
playing game after game after game.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Now, you don't put coins in the slots anymore, right.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
No, you put like you put it while you put
dollar bills or twenties or whatever. And then after that
you get a voucher, right, and then wherever you go
to with a vouch you can put it into the
You have.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Like a player's club card too, where you can put
credits on it.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
She has that, Yes, is it?
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Do we think it's better this way or was it
better when you had to put a coin in every time?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
That's better this way? Remember you had have those like
were they buckets?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Buckets? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:58):
They all quarters had to be slipped in there. Your
fingers were all like dirty and stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, I got to tell you, it's been a while
since I pulled a slot machine. I haven't pulled a
sot machine handle since I turned twenty one, since it
became legal to do so. But they're obviously if if
slots weren't popular, they wouldn't still have them. And there's
always people still at them.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
And by the way, Jason was talking about craps and
I love I used to love Roulette as my favorite
just because I like but my brother in law got
me into playing craps and I agree with Jason, and
it's it is awesome, Like it is so much fun,
except when there's a person there that bets against everybody,
but that happens it every once in a while, so.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
H hater bets. So we're talking about what can we
call him.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
What do I call him?
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Jason? The one that it's called the no pass one?
And uh, you know, I was telling Doug about the game,
and then I realized about twenty minutes into the game
that we're at the table that we're at. We played
at a crapless table. Crapless is something that's in the
last ten years has occurred where they take off the
no pass line, so nobody is betting against the table
(05:08):
and all the numbers are in place. So the first
number that was rolled when Doug and I got up
and we put our money down two, So nobody's gonna
get a two. It's a pretty good chance of seven's
coming before them two. But there are advantages to the
crapless and that on the come out roll you're not
losing your money. There's no such thing as craps. But anyways,
(05:31):
that was my first experience at a crapless table. But
just another thing, well.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I thought, I thought the best part of the whole thing. Okay,
so if you're listening to us in California, you'll know
the school, and if you're listening to US nationwide, you
probably don't, or maybe you do from baseball, But Jason
Stewart is a proud alum of cal State Fullerton, which is,
(05:56):
you know, we joke about it, like Leon Wood's the
most famous and route Leon Wooden and Bruce Bowen the
two most famous basketball players from I.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Saw Mark Stein yesterday at NBA con and he had
an old school Forton State hat. By the way, so
Mark Stein another one.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Right, And so it's a it's a small contingent although
it's a big school, right. It's a big state school,
big commuter school. Right. So and and you're like, wait,
why did they call it Why didn't they call it
Fullerton State? Why is it cal State Fullerton? I mean, look,
it's the same system as Long Beach State and San
Diego State. Those are cal State University of San Diego,
(06:32):
cal State University Long Beach. But Fullerton has just always
been known as cal State Forwardson or Fullerton more famous
for their baseball program when Algi Gurrito was there than
anything else, regardless of which, So how about this one, John,
We're trying to find a crap stable to play at.
And the reason we didn't see was crapless craps was
because what made us pick that table was there was
(06:56):
a gentleman who was wearing a cal State Fullerton whole. Now,
when I say cal State fullordtson polo, there is an
orange F that is not a Florida F. It is
definitely a Fullerton F. How do I know that because
Jay s dou at the same time was wearing the
Fullerton hat with the Fullerton F. So I grabbed Jay
stew I'm like, dude, this one's meant to be. He's like,
(07:18):
why is like the guy's got a Fullerton polo, which
brought a bunch of thoughts to my mind. The first
thing is that's in the South. In the Midwest, it's
kind of normal, right. You can go out, go to
a casino, even go to a nice restaurant and where
the logo of your favorite team on a polo and
nobody will buy Deny if you're in Columbus or anywhere
(07:41):
near in Ohio and you go out with an Ohio
State polo on fine in California or in Las Vegas,
kind of weird. So this guy's doing, you know, pulling
the Midwest school in the West in Vegas, and you know,
Jay Stu and I are kind of geeking out about it. Meanwhile,
you start to think, like Why why would any buddy
(08:01):
wear that polo? Right? That is it? That is like
mace to women I met, I met this guy. What
was he wearing? He was wearing a cal State Fullerton.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
No, it was strange like and he wasn't particularly friendly, Like,
what are the odds that a guy at two o'clock
in the morning, that manly bay is going to walk
up to you wearing pretty much the same emblem that
you have on And he showed zero interest in that coincidence,
He had no love for me, wasn't very friendly. I
(08:40):
think the guy had been losing a lot of chips
when we got there, and we definitely cleaned him out,
so he was not a happy camper. But that that
polo made me think that he must be with cal
State Fullerton, like recruiting. He like that was the only
thing that made sense him wearing that shirt.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
I would I would tend to you tend to agree
it was. It was. It was weird and you would
think with that connection, like he would just be arm
around you talking about Fullerton stuff, and yet didn't seem
to want to do anything to do.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
With none of that. Did not want to go down
that road.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I was hoping for that same sort of camaraderie you
see on movies, and you discussed at you know, when
other guys were rolling, but it just never happened.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Just like yeah, tales of the off campus pub which
was a big bar back in our day and stuff.
I just I figured that that was coming. But I
also definitely figured that because you and I were at
the table, that maybe because he's a guy, that there
would eventually be a conversation about me being that guy
from that school who worked on that show previously. I
(09:46):
don't like those conversations, but I figured it would get
to that point at least, and it was just it
just went nowhere.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
But it went zero places at all, zero zero places
of anything semi interesting. I did want to talk about
Vitchuevin Yama and how well he played yesterday. I just
I mean, first, what a night for the NBA. As
(10:13):
much as his first night, there was some buzz last night,
it was incredible. Place was packed, He played well, and
everybody walked away going Okay. I don't know if he'll
be killed one of the greatest players ever, but it
sure feels like San Antonio got a guy who's gonna
be a very very good player, amazing what forty eight
hours will do, and when he hit a couple of
jump shots he can get it going. He ended up
doing it.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
App Let's get to what the Fox says, and now
say here's Dan Patrick. He had this exchange with MLB
insider Jeff Passon about what the Angels will do with
shoe heeyo tani.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
That has been the Angels pass the entire time, that
they're going to be the fools who get like the
seventieth overall pick instead of getting an enormous trade haul
and re energizing your farm system at the deadline and
building a new Los Angeles Angels without arguably the greatest
(11:21):
player ever. The conundrum here is not what is the
right thing to do? All of us know what the
right thing to do is. Man. The conundrum is, can
the owner who has been shooting himself in the foot
for essentially the past two decades, can he do what
(11:44):
the right thing to do is, as opposed to letting
his emotions about the whole situation overwhelm him into not
because I don't think the Angels are making playoffs?
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Thats all right?
Speaker 1 (11:55):
What would you do? What would you do with Oton?
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Oh my god, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Yeah, Like again all of us, all of us sit
there and go, yeah, I would I would trade him,
I would move him, and maybe the I would trade him.
I would move him. Should have happened last year at
this time, right, but his value has only increased, his
play has only gotten better. And I mean, just again,
(12:28):
can you imagine a guy who's on pace to break
Aaron Judge's home run record being traded the year he's
on pace to break Aaron Judge's home run record, Like
that would be that would be incredible. And so I
think at some point your pot committed. I truly believe
that's the thinking. They're just they're pop committed and they're
(12:52):
gonna ride it out. But yeah, I mean, like any outsider.
And when I say outsider doesn't mean Passing is an outsider. No,
he's a baseball insider. But anybody who's not in that
organization will go like, yeah, you trade him? But I mean,
do you want to be the guy that when they
tell the story of Shoho Tani nowly did he start
his career with the Angels, but in the middle of
a record breaking season he was traded. I don't think so.
(13:15):
I don't think so. I think they're pod committed. I
think you write it out and I think that's what
they're gonna do. Here's LeVar Arrington talking about Pat Fitzgerald
and Northwestern's hazing situation.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
Just seems like really outlandish to me, Like you got
a whiteboard in the middle of the locker room. I mean,
so are the coaches so detached from what's going on
in the locker room that they don't and listen, I
went to Penn State, so be clear in terms of
(13:45):
not knowing, you know what I mean, like I have
gone through the ring of ringers in terms of not
like the whole idea of not knowing. But I will
say this, as a player that was there and was
coach by Jerry Sandusky, I did not know what was
going on with the actions of a coach. But I
(14:08):
find this to be very, very different in terms of context,
because coaches are supposed to know exactly what's going on
with their players and not just the locker room. I mean,
that's the closest, easiest place to monitor your kids. You
got to know what they're doing in their dorms, and
(14:28):
they're in their classes, if they're going to class, if
they're going to breakfast. You're monitoring every single aspect of
these players' lives. This seems outlandish and outrageous.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Well, there's there's another story today where it says that
Pat Fitzgerald is never in the locker room because that
place belongs to you guys. There's also the uh, there's
quotes in an ESPN story that other players like, I've
never seen that whiteboard in the locker room, nor with
the know with the writing there right, Like it's like
kind of anybody can draw something up on a whiteboard,
(15:04):
put in the locker room, take a picture, and then
take it down. So I somewhere in between what was
reported and what was alleged and what actually happened is
the truth. And I think obviously when the details came out,
(15:24):
that's when we said, like, wait, two weeks does not
seem like enough. On the end, Northwestern's probably going to
suspend him for longer. But I also think that the
news stories of the accuser just wanting to take down
the coach seem very believable. It seems very believable to me,
And in all candor, I think there's a reason Northwestern
(15:49):
only suspended him for two weeks, and it was during
kind of a dead period of the off season, and
that's cause they didn't think it was a nothing burger.
But there was a lot of expense put forth and
not a lot of substance came out, So I don't know.
I do think ultimately the truth is gonna come out
if he doesn't get fired. It's because the allegations aren't accurate,
(16:12):
and I think that's why this has been Do I
think a more lengthy suspension, Yes, but it's because of
the freak out. And I also think that, look, I
have Northwestern friends whore like he's gonna have to go.
And then of course now you see some of the
additional stories and they're changing their stance as well. We
probably need to catch our breath, figure out what's what,
figure out if this is just one rogue accuser, or
(16:34):
if there's a series of guys that'll step up and
say this happened or this is what really happened. And
I thought that's what the independent investigation was about. But
there seems to be a curious lack of true substance,
more so than somebody going after a coach. So I
don't know what to think. Do I think coaches know
(16:55):
what's going on in their locker rooms? Not really, not really.
But but I also I never saw bullying. I never
saw any sort of I told you guys, going back
to last week, you know that the only thing I
ever saw in terms of hazing was when I was
at Notre Dame and they kind of threw us. So
we had to jump in the lake at the end
(17:15):
of a fun run on Friday, you know, one of
the two lakes at Notre Dame, and we knew. Everybody
knew how to swim, because in order to go to
Notre Dame you either have to pass a swim test
or take swimming as like a class. And it was
far enough along. Did some guys doggy paddle over to
the dock? They did, But it wasn't like it was
(17:37):
ongoing hazing mistreatment of younger players. Obviously, nobody in the
right mind approves of it. Zero zero people at all
approve of any sort of real hardcore hazing. And if
these as for hazing, like look when it really occurs.
It's just only bad things can happen, and even when
(17:59):
there's good. But I just I just kind of sit
here and take a breath and wait till you see
what really comes out. Here's Colin Cowher talking about Andrew Luck.
Speaker 7 (18:08):
Do you know Andrew Luck is just about eligible for
the Hall of Fame next year? Andrew Luck. You know
I love me some Andrew Luck. And I know what
you're saying. I mean, Colin, come on, you only played
for about six years. Brevity of career does not eliminate you.
Gail Sayers four great years, made it then he had
(18:30):
knee injuries. Terrell Davis four great years. Well, Super Bowls, Yeah,
well Elway had a lot to do with those two.
If you're gonna let compilers into all these Hall of Fames,
people who were very good and played for a long time,
that I'm gonna fight for great briefly. You you love
(18:55):
a lot of you love compilers. Your favorite local player
who had the league in doubles four times and hit
by pitches and played nineteen years and was never the
best player on his team. Andrew Luck did something I
don't think Brady or Patrick Mahomes far Bradshaw Aikman could do.
He took a horrible roster and when eleven and five,
(19:19):
eleven and five, eleven and five, in fact, four Pro
Bowls in five years, they never had a losing season.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
When he was healthy, Andrew Luck was legit. It was legit.
And I've become kind of like a footnote into the
Andrew Luck story, right because of when he retired. I
had the the tweet quip of all tweet quips, which
was Andrew Luck retiring because rehab is too hard, as
(19:48):
the most two thousand and whatever thing ever, and it
became as big a topic I think, I don't know
if you know this Chase due that was seven million
impressions on that one tweet. Seven million impressions, and you know,
I have two hundred and at the time, like fifty
thousand followers. So I look at this thing and I'm
(20:10):
thinking to myself, Man, this is crazy, crazy, crazy crazy
that it went to seven million impressions over just one tweet.
That lots of people tweeted about Andrew Luck and you know,
being a quitter or whatever they wanted to call him,
(20:32):
his career should have had a third act. Some of
it was over the savage beating he took behind dilapidated
offensive line. Some of it was if people remember he
injured his shoulder snowboarding, right, that was a story that
didn't come out until after he retired. Local indie people
knew that, which had nothing to do with football. I
(20:52):
can only tell you that, and I was a here's
the crazy part about it, I'm somehow linked as the
guy who is hating on Andrew Luck when he retired.
When you can pull up a clip of me on
the Old First Things First in the morning show in
New York and just crushing Nick Wright with the you
do realize he won thirty three games his first three
years in the NFL. He authored up until afterwards. He
(21:15):
had the biggest comeback in the history of the NFL.
Remember against the Kansas City Chiefs, and that was early
in his career. When he played and he was healthy,
they were a playoff team. He was great. I have
no problem with him being a Hall of Famer, and
you're like, well, he has to win a superl like Noah,
he was arguably the best quarterback in the league. If
you want to make it about what his team did
(21:36):
or didn't do, that's fine, But they went from the
worst team in the league to a perennial playoff team
anytime he played. That's what the Fox SAIDU say.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Let's find out who or what is annoying Jared.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
And now it's.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Your annoying, Hey dog Gil. Jerry West has always been
a favorite of mine whenever I've either booked him as
a guest or heard stories about him. I have a
buddy that is a member of bel Air and I'm
(22:22):
not bragging, but he says Jerry West just loves to
sit and tell stories like he comes off as this
contankerous guy. But if he if he likes the company
that he's with, I don't know if there's a more
engaging sports figure. Jerry West was at NBA Con this weekends,
as were we, and he had this to say about
(22:43):
how he was as a player.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
That's who I am, but I was not afraid. And
today there again, I would getting at the players that
are drafted today and everyone you know, competitive people, the
word dog comes up a lot.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Guy's a dog guy. Well, I was a wolf. Okay,
I used to eat dog.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
That's just like one gem that if you listen.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
How bad ass of line is that exactly exactly.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
People who don't don't appreciate that we have a living
legend and a national gift in Jerry West.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Are annoying. Yeah, anybody who say we should change the
logo like and by the way, like Jerry West. He had,
I mean, tough upbringing in West Virginia, unbelievable player, unbelievable
of level of respect by others for Jerry West, the
player of the person, and then has been the most
(23:44):
successful league executive and now the greatest shit talker we've
ever heard. Right, I'm not a dog. I'm a wolf.
I eat dogs. That's amazing. That's Larry bird Lever level
shit talking.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Because I think I think in that whole thing of
last week, maybe with the Genie bus comments or something,
I think he maybe got herd wind that he wasn't
included in these in these lists or whatever, and I
think that was maybe a reaction to that. But I
I love Jerry. I can't get enough Jerry. And the
more the more I think about it, the more I
(24:15):
think showed or I'm sorry, HBO did him wrong. You know,
by the way that they depict him in winning time,
I know he got a big red ass about it
is probably warranted. Don't do Jerry Wes rama. That guy
is a national treasure, Chris Paul. This is what I
find annoying about this Chris Paul Warriors collaboration is that
(24:38):
when the current Warriors are asked about him, it's all
about Chris Paul's experience. It's all about how you know,
how much time he's he's had in the league, and
how respected he is. They don't really speak to how
good it's going to be on the on the court,
because I don't think they think it's gonna be good.
And then Chris Paul was asked, how is this going
to work?
Speaker 9 (24:57):
Not to like sound crazy or whatnot, but the end
of day is basketball, you know, is not brain surgery.
And I'm going into a situation with a bunch of
guys who didn't played together for a long time, didn't
know how to play. I guess it's me or whatnot.
But I'm not as worried about it as probably everybody
else is, or anybody. And when I say everybody not
necessarily our team, but it's were going to figure it out.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
It reminds me of when you ask somebody a question
and their answer is it just will. In other words,
they don't know how or why or when, but it
just will. And nobody seems to have like the exact
basketball answers. And I'm still convinced and that remember when
he was traded that first day it broke on the show.
(25:39):
I wanted my first instinct was this is not long
for Warriors. I think that they're going to trade them
or get rid of them, cut them whatever. This was
the salary thing, and for whatever reason, I'm sticking to
my guns on that. But anyways, nobody seems to have
the answers, including Chris pauld if this is going to
work on the court.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Doug Well, the other part, he got really defensive when
somebody asked him about coming off the bench, and He's
just like, that hadn't been that, hadn't been discussed, hadn't
discussed with anybody? Are you coaching out right? So it
is like that's a legit question, you know, I think,
I mean, can you play him on the court at
the same time? Sure, can you win a championship with
him at the same time, Like, I don't think you can.
(26:17):
You know, Chris Paul was a great defensive player. He
is not now at thirty nine years old and he's little.
And Steph Curry is an improved defensi player, but he's
not great. And he's now at thirty five and he's
not big. It's really hard to play more than one
smaller player. I mean, go around. Look at the I mean,
look at the Denver Nuggets. Look at the Denver Nuggets.
(26:40):
Jamal Murray's like six ' three, contavious call up poet
six five, and then you have Michael Porter junior six ' ten,
Aaron Gordon Is he's like more six eight and a
half six nine but big, and then you got Jokich
and those are that's a huge team. Tell me where
those other guys who they are? So ye, look, I
(27:04):
do think that you can figure it out as basketball
players how to play. And people worried about the style
that he's always played. You know, he hasn't played with
a team like this, and there'll be some growing pains,
but it'll be there in training camp and it's not crazy.
I do wonder though about guys really one they want
to start. Nobody who started every NBA game doesn't want
to start. And then and it's pride thing. And then
(27:25):
too they want to close. And I don't know if
you can close to Chris Paul and Steph Curry on
the court at the same time, anybody, anyone else?
Speaker 3 (27:33):
I have a quick question. So a mutual friend of ours,
Travis Rodgers, was in the market for an suv I
remember this story. And he went to a Chevy Watt
and I think he asked the I think he asked
the salesman what the Chevy suv maybe it was a
Tahoe or something. How was it better than the Toyota
(27:54):
Explorer or whatever the other way Ford Explore or whatever.
And the salesperson said, it just is. Man, It's like
it's not gonna work. No, No, you need to sell
me a little bit more on this thing. But anyways.
The third and final you're annoying is a very personal
one for me. On Saturday night, I had a chance
(28:14):
to play craps with you. Now, I've played hundreds and
hundreds of hours of craps. It's one of my favorite
things to do in the world. I think it's the
most exhilarating game you could play in Vegas, and I
wanted to share that exhilaration with you. I wanted to
show you how brilliant the game could be and how
(28:35):
fun it could be. And we got on a table
with some sour pusses and the dice could not have
been colder. The dealers were so tired, they were just
they were yawning. And I said, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
That was not an iconic craft experience now.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
It was annoying. And I'll let the listeners know. I
won't give him any figures. But I talked Doug into
going in with me, and it was not an insignificant
amount and we could not have lost our money any faster.
So what a dud of an experience on craps, and
I owe you a better one.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
That's okay, because I had so of the money that
we had remaining. You went to bed very depleted, defeated,
completely down on the entire thing. Yes, And I went
to a blackjack table and you left me like, here,
(29:33):
just take it. I feel so bad about losing your money.
I was like, all right, and I made some of
the money back, but I also I had some I
had another weird experience, Like I'm sitting there at I
know that the chairs are numbered in blackjack, but whatever
the next to last chair is, like, that's my favorite
chair to sit it in blackjack. And the guy at
the end, he was like a revolving door and one
(29:58):
of one of the guys he just couldn't add, like
his math was bad. And it's the like the two
things you do you gotta do when you're playing blackjack,
is right, like everybody kind of quasi counts cards. A
lot of face cards come out, you know, haven't seen
a lot of face cards. Haven't seen a lot of aces.
You try and guess or six decks in there, you
(30:19):
can't really guess. The other thing is you got to
be able to do the math, you know, and look
at what they have showing what you got and what
the likelihood of his success is. And I'm tell you
there's a guy who sat next to me for a
half hour and he just couldn't count, and he wasn't drunk.
And then when he walked away, the dealers like, oh,
he's really nice. I wished he would have won. He
couldn't count. Why do you wish you would have won?
(30:41):
Somebody who's doing the actual job should win Vegas. Bad
gamblers in Vegas can be annoying.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Oh, no doubt, especially in that game. I hate that game. Anyways.
I don't need a person making my experience.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Worse for sure. For sure is that it?
Speaker 3 (30:58):
That's it, so bad gamble, Chris Paul and nobody seems
to know if it's gonna work out. And then we
need to appreciate Jerry West more.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
I think people who don't. People don't appreciate Jerry west
and as as just a dude, as a wolf.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Why are we doing this?
Speaker 6 (31:18):
I do.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Because we can.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
I've heard this. This is awesome. So this is the
game before the All Star break, right, and it's David Ross,
of course, was the catcher on the World Series winning
Chicago Cubs team and then he went He was also
with the Red Sox before that, and he went to
ESPN for like a year. Then he became their manager.
And they're playing the Yankees. Remember it's like the first
(31:47):
series ever that the Cubs have played in Yankee Stadium.
They're playing the Yankees on was this Saturday? I think
it was Saturday? Sure, yeah, okay with Saturday. And of
course the All Star Game is tomorrow and so after
some early questionable calls, this is David Ross yelling at
the home plate umpire. You got one game.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
Before the breaking of that bad That's one of the best.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Lines I've ever heard. Wow.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
All right, so a hot mic caught. You've got to
be better. You got one goddamn game before you get
a break, and you're that fucking bat already.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Amazing, Right, How good is that shit? It is so good,
so good. Why can we play for you? Because we can?
All right. That's it for the end the Bonus Podcast.
