games decided by essentially two different shots, Dante DiVincenzo, Why Dante,
(00:46):
as he's remembered from his star days at Villanova, hit
a big three to bring the Knicks back. We'll get
to that one. And then Jamaal Murray with a step
back jump shot over extended hand of Anthony Davis and
the Nugget's complet come back from down twenty in the
fourth quarter to win Game two and take a commanding
(01:07):
two games to none lead. Welcome in this is the
Doug Gottlieb showed Dan Byers here, Jason Stewart is year,
I was same here. Even Elijah's here as he's fixing
the cameras in the studio, part of our our great
digital team. So a lot to get to. I think
we focus on the Lakers Nuggets just because what was
at stake. And I had told you last year that
(01:29):
I thought, I mean last week that I thought the
Lakers would be more competitive this year than they were
last year. With the Nuggets. They kind of figured out
how to guard him. They've gotten a little bit better.
And the Nuggets, I don't think their benches as good.
And the Nuggets are a dominant team at home, I
mean dominant, So to have them down twenty at their
(01:51):
place had to put the fear of God into the
hearts of the Nuggets. But I want you to think
about this for for a second, you know, really think
about it for a second. How would the world look
today if the Lakers had closed that game out? To
(02:14):
think about that and what we do, And this is
I understand how sports work. I understand we all have
add We're always on to the next game, and it's
not supposed to matter but the reality is the Lakers
are very unlikely to make this a seven game series.
Hey good, okay, And so let's say they lose in
(02:39):
five or six or maybe even four. You can sit
there and go like, hey, games three and games four
they weren't that close, so game two is the outlier.
But yeah, when you have a deem down twenty at
their place and they don't ever lose at home and
they can't figure out how to stop you when they
(03:03):
can't and you then you can't close them out, it
feels like a loss and a half as opposed to
a win. Feels like a win and a half. Here's
Lebron James talking about the officiating after the game.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I don't understand what's going on in a replay center,
to be honest, I said it.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I think I said it this year or last year. Whatever.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Delo clearly gets hit in a face on a drive.
We have a replay center is going to go that
doesn't It doesn't make sense to me, makes no sense
to me. It bothers me. I'm sorry to ask you
a question, but that is like and then I just
saw what happened with the Sixers nickname too.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
What are we what are we doing.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
And look, I get it, I'm against clearly blown calls,
and the D'Angelo Russell one was a blown call. But
I also tell you that there is there's something about
this sport that you actually need real aau to prepare
you for. So this is kind of an interesting aside,
(04:09):
at least to me. And if you guys don't follow
or don't find an interest, that's fine. But you sports
in our country have a tendency to get a bad rap,
and some of it is accurate basketball, especially because we
have so many foreign players coming in and starring in
quote unquote our game, So it must be how we're
(04:32):
teaching it, and on some levels it is. We don't
have enough practices. We have way too many games, and
the games don't matter that much. If you lose, you
already have a schedule. Some of these circuits you play
in four games in a weekend, regardless of how you
win or you lose, whatever, and you still get to advance.
And if you lose in bracket play, in bracket play
(04:55):
you often get a constellation bracket and then another game.
You're guaranteed a number of games. That's not how life works,
but there is something to the flimsy officiating, full court pressure,
hand to hand combat, because it's a weeding out process.
Either you learn to win games that way or you
(05:17):
don't get to play in the big games in front
of all of the college scouts, in front of all
the now NBA scouts. You have to find a way
to win those games. There's a tenacity and aggressiveness. There's
a hand to hand, hand in hand combat to it.
It's even Lebron James who complain he drove in and
he missed the layup, thought he got fouled late in
(05:38):
the game, Like, hey, dude, dunk the ball. Don't get
even when you don't make your dunks or you get
it blocked, oftentimes they call that a foul, especially when
you're Lebron James, when you're the New York Knicks and
you're taking you're Philadelphia seventy six ers. You have to
go and get the ball, and look, there's an art
to it. They're holding your jersey. You have to knock
(05:59):
their hands off and push off without getting called for
a push off, and get open and secure the ball
and hold the balls. They're fouling the crap out of
you trying to steal the ball. You have to do that.
You learn that when you play AAU basketball. You learn
that in fifth and sixth and seventh grade. If you
can't do it, you will not play the high level AAU.
(06:20):
And what I think you end up getting is you
get dudes that are junk yard dogs, and at the
end of these games, they just find a way to push,
shove and make plays. And look, if you go to
the Sixers game, right, the Sixers are at the free
throw line up five, a chance to make it six.
(06:40):
And if you're a baseball fan, you know this to
be true. Right in baseball, all of those late inning rallies,
anytime a closer comes in and clunks it up and
blows the safe, what almost always starts those innings. Almost
always what starts those innings is when you walk the
first bat, right, you go back and it doesn't matter
(07:03):
it was I'll bet I haven't even looked I was.
I was doing a podcast, doing some other things. I
haven't even looked, But I will guess that Mariano Rivera,
remember when he blew a save against the Arizona Diamondbacks
in the Was that two or three on a one
World series? Yep, somebody checked that inning and see did
(07:27):
he walk the first batter? They almost always walked the
first batter, right, that's how all of these rallies start.
You know, he walked the first batter. He can't walk
the first batter. That's what happens. And in basketball, when
inevitably happens, when you when you have some great finish,
some great comeback. There was always like, well, you missed
a free throw. They were up five, Up six still
would have been a two possession game. But it's a
(07:48):
completely different game if it's up five as a post
up six. Last thing, we had a lot of talk
about women's basketball, the WNBA and Kaitlyn Clark in the
last three weeks. I want you, I want you to
be honest any this even you?
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Sam?
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Is there any world where you would honestly rather watch
a women's game than watch either of those two games
last night? Sam? No, okay, I just let's let's let's
if we're all gonna be friends here, let's all be
(08:31):
real here we can say, like, hey, I like watching
Kaitlyn Clark play like it's awesome. I love how she plays.
Whatever would you rather watch? And again, I would never watch.
There's no college basketball game. I'd rather watch them last night.
Those are the best players in the world. They make
crazy shots because they're crazy talented. Do they complain about
the officiating? Yes? Is it is it grab and hold fast? Sure,
(08:54):
but fans are into it. The skill levels incredible, the
athleticism is incredible, the comebacks were remarkable. The whole thing
was awesome. And so if anybody wants to go like, well,
I don't watch the NBA, like, okay, so you missed
the best of the best. Here's Anthony Davis last night
(09:18):
after the game.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Can he tickets through that last play and just what
happened and what unfolded and what was I don't know
if you were screened or what happened at last play.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Jamal Mooreton made a.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Shot, Jamal Murray made a shot and he did the
Kobe mic drop.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Thoroughbred Racing as new independent regulator HAISA that is implementing
comprehensive reforms and the sport is combining hands hands on
care with cutting edge technology to help keep the athletes safe.
To learn more of visit Safety Runs First dot Com
A Safety Runs First dot Com look. Anthony Davis was
awesome and then he didn't get the ball in the
(09:59):
fourth quarter, and that's not bad defense. That's why you
have a mismatch of a guard on a big where
the only thing you can do when you have a
guy that big is you know, trying out quick them
to the basket or out quit them to a spot
and then get to a step back. But they lost.
When you have a twenty point lead, you lose, not
(10:20):
because of the runs you're giving up. You can't give
up threes supposed to twos, but you stop scoring, stop
executing offensively. You gotta keep scoring, gotta keep find ways
to keep getting points. And if you get to the
free throw line, even better because that lets you set
your defense and catch your breath. But we all point
to the defensive breakdowns and Barkley and Kenny Smith and
(10:40):
they were talking about why are you doubling Jokics late
in the game, now a sudden you're giving up three pointers.
Those are fair and but the reality is, if you're
up twenty and Anthony Davis stops getting the ball, stops
getting shots, you stop scoring. That's why you lost twin
point lead.

Com studios. John Middlekaffe will join us in a mere second.
(11:30):
We also want to get into this story about Caleb Williams.
There's a story out there that you may have seen
kind of floating around where nfl GM's like, hey, guy
scares the crap out of me, all right, because he's
he was so emotional when they when they lost. I
would say this about Kayleb Williams. The pushback against Kayleb
(11:53):
Williams is a pushback against everything twenty twenty four. Right,
We're like, wow, he's really confident to air againt what
we tell these kids that they're special from the day
that they're born, right, If we tell your special, you're unique,
you're your own, Like, what do you think they're gonna feel?
And then when he starts at Oklahoma as a freshman
(12:16):
and kills it and then is the highest paid free
agent on the on the college market, he's told he's
the best. Then he wins the Heisman trophy, he's told
he's the best, and we also tell kids like, hey,
it's okay to show emotion, it's okay to not be okay.
So when he had his head on the shoulders of
(12:39):
his mom, like, we've allowed that kind of arrested development
to take place. The fingernail polish not a big thing,
but again, the pushback against it in many ways, I believe,
is the pushback against everything that is twenty twenty four.
So does he succeed or does he fail in many
(13:00):
ways determines how we're doing things here stuck Otlab show
here on Fox Sports Radio haveing some major computer issues here.
Huh how nine thousand not cooperating at all? Not quite
by Yeah, you know, I buyer when when I was
(13:21):
watching last night, you know I really felt like, you know,
I took it, took us back to our conversation we
had yesterday, which is a series doesn't start. It's the
pat Riley expression. A series doesn't start until the road
team wins a game, which again may be fair in
(13:41):
terms of the reality of how long these series go.
But man, was that exciting. It sure felt like the
series started last night.
Speaker 6 (13:48):
Well, it also may have ended last night. As well,
because how many chances do the Lakers have? I mean,
we look at there's two ways to look at it.
Not to sit on the fence here, but it's.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
No, no, you're I know I but by the way,
I know exactly where you're going, and you're right on
both accounts.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Go ahead.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
They played with them both games, yes, and so maybe
they are up to par with them.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Take away altitude we're at home. Don't we get some
calls we didn't get? Why can't we win them?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Absolutely also makes you then question on why they were
the you know, the eight seed in the West. If
they were able to play up to the level of Denver,
then why weren't they better in the regular season? Separate story.
But then the other point of it is you had
two good shots to get the champs and you failed.
And how many chances are you going to be able
to knock off the champs in their backyard? And you
(14:35):
were unable to do it on both occasions. So that's
the other side of that coin.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
I've never asked you, so this will be a new
experience to me asking are you a Jordan or Lebron guy?
In terms of who's the greatest play I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
I think.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
This is funny because I think I'll be a Lebron
guy in the end.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
If he makes that shot last night, it doesn't hurt correct.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
It's funny because I actually thought that too in the
press conference of like, the only thing this all is
is this isn't hurting his legacy. This anything now adds
to it, but there just hasn't been anything adding to it.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Right, right, Yeah, i' Minilkoff joins US three and outsis podcast.
He also has Going Low. He's a dude just like
the rest of us. So I know you watched last night.
I mean that is a major missed opportunity for Lebron
to make that shot. Major, right, There's nothing that I.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Like more born and raised in the Sacramento area when
they used to make fun of us for the Cowbills
than watching the Lakers loose, whether it's Lebron or anyone playing.
So I got great joy out of watching Jamal Murray
hit that shot. But I mean it's pretty crazy, Like
I'm a Michael Jordan guy. That will never change. But
I think we can acknowledge Lebron when you factor in
(15:58):
the he might have had a better career. I think
Michael's a better player.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I mean, just the longevity of how how good he is,
how relevant he is, how how I mean, how talented
he is at this and able to contribute at this
high level, at this high peak in the sport is
pretty amazing, you know what's crazy.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
And we talk a lot about like Rogers coming back
at forty, and we've seen it with some of these
football players, like Manning falling off a cliff. You could
tell in the late dunk I think right before you
know they broke out and Porter hit that shot when
he dunked over Murray when they stole the ball. He
doesn't quite get up to high, doesn't he especially late
in the game, you know. I mean he's one of
the all time great athletes in the history of the world,
(16:41):
right like Bo Jackson, Deon Sanders, Lebrotn just peer athleticism.
And you know, at thirty nine forty, I don't care
who you are, me, you or him, You're not the
same as you once was. I mean, he's still what
I give him credit for and what I respect. And
this is what I respect most. Why I'm a Michael
Tiger guy is their will to compete and will to
improve and Lebron's shot. Remember in his heyday of us
(17:05):
talking about him, can he ever win? He couldn't shoot,
and now he can just I mean obviously streaky still,
but he can get on heaters with a three point shot.
That was Popovich. They would just sag off him and
be like shoot away, buddy, and he couldn't. And now
it's definitely a weapon.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
No, they made him hit those mid range pull up
jump shots, and Game seven in that one in the
one Spurs series, he hit him. Otherwise he oftentimes oftentimes
did not. Stutg Gottlieb show Fox Sports trader John Midlkoff's
joining us. Okay, so it's a news story out where
you're having these gms, likely guys that won't have any
shot of drafting. Kilea Williams questioning Kayleb Williams. I think
(17:44):
that all so much of this is a pushback on
the new generation. Right, he already has a bunch of
money in his pocket from playing in college, He's already
got a massive social media following. He's he gives off
a confidence to the point of arrogance. But that's kind
of what we instill upon kids, that this is what
you have to have to succeed, and we think you're
(18:05):
the greatest effort. What is your what's your read on
some of these comments by unnamed gentle managers that don't
want anything to do with him because he scares him
because of some of his emotional outbursts on the sidelines.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Yeah, I think it's a natural reaction in that position
the scouting community to kind of, you know, nitpick guys,
and we're all people, so think about the people in
our lives. You like certain people, you don't like certain people,
and it's all personally based. I watched his bits and
pieces of his interview with Ryan Clark's group, and I've
(18:43):
seen enough interviews now, Like, I think he's pretty well spoken,
smart guy.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah, I'm actually blown away just because I've never really
heard him talk till this year now.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Granted doesn't feel like people have been doing sit down
interviews with him in years past, but you watch him,
you go like, listen, I'd be cocky too. I mean,
most guys that are heralded look back on some of
Brady's interviews, even back in like two to oh one,
when he's telling everybody like I'm not only going to
start He's never getting this job back. Kind of the
(19:14):
nature of the position, you know. I mean, you showed
up to some big programs when you were playing in college,
like and I don't care what you in any competitive industry,
you kind of as a young person. Now in most
other industries you kind of got to keep your mouth shut,
but you're thinking it, you know, in sports, because you're
getting interviewed so often. I don't really have a problem
with it, you know. I mean, it's kind the kind
(19:36):
of the nature of the beast. I mean, I just think,
you know, it's kind of come to light with the
twenty twenty one draft. You know, those four guys are
on different teams and they basically went for a bag
of peanuts, you know, misdrafting things hard. A lot of
these guys are going to be nowhere near live up
to the hype, and some of it's not going to
(19:56):
be all their fault. They're going to go to bad
teams and it's going to be a disaster. But you
gotta I mean, when you factor in got they got
a lot of talent on that offense. You know, pretty
good defense. I've been saying forever. If you just look
back the last twenty years, you know, Stafford Lawrence luck
was somewhat unique because he inherited a team that was awful,
but it was only because Peyton wasn't there. They didn't
(20:17):
have a quarterback, and they had some good players on there.
But for the most part, number one picks cod who
just got awful teams. It's a tweet. It's pretty solid.
I mean's he is out of the defense the last
two years in this defense, they got some Pro Bowl
level players, they got a defensive head coach. I'd be
a little stunned if he's not solid kind of right away.
But I mean we see it all the time. The
(20:39):
pressure on the pick is just is just dramatic. And
for all these guys, I mean, all these guys are
going to get Let's say, let's say five quarterbacks end
up going in the top ten, which obviously four guys
go in the top five, and you know, who knows,
you know, these teams could desperate, maybe Michael Pennick's Raiders
trade up to like with the Bears and nine and
take them. Anytime you're the number one pick, the pressure
(21:00):
on you, you know, can eat you live when you struggle.
We saw it a was at Wilson we saw it
a Wi Trey Lance, sure, because it's part of it's
the society we live in, Like there's not a long
runway anymore. Still just get rid of you.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
I thought this part was interesting. So this is again
part of this article that was written by Grayson Weir.
Grayson Weir and this one, to me was was the
really interesting one because it talked about nil and quote.
(21:36):
I think Caleb has a chance to be very good,
but I'm not sure about the wiring. For me, it's
just how motivated is he to just win. He's super talented.
He's really one of the first quarterbacks to deal with
as much celebrity and nil as he has. I'm worried
about he leans into his identity persona just being a
little bit weird and different. That detracts from his ability
to relate to teammates and just being about team and
(21:57):
working on winning. He's got to work on some of
the things from the pocket. Takes some discipline, takes some humility.
I don't know if he has I'm not saying it's
his fault. I don't know if he's been nurtured as
a high profile quarterback that has made a ton of money,
but he can figure out those things in the pocket,
he can be elite to me. The translation is, and
(22:20):
I've seen this in basketball as well, and it's a
great discussion lots of former athletes have, is I was
super hungry, right, like whether or not my next meal
dependent upon whether I made it or not. I played
like my next meal dependent on whether or not I
made it or not. But one of the reasons that
so many star athletes kids are not elite players is
(22:44):
they get all the things that we didn't have when
their kids, and it kills their internal motivation, right, And
so I think one of the things that one of
the theories maybe hypotheses or whatever, but theories that pro scouts have,
college coaches have as well, Hey, now we're giving kids
money before they really do much of anything. What's going
(23:05):
to motivate them to do more? And that's a big
question with Caleb Williams, right, is it? It was a
legit argument whether or not he could make the same
or more money staying in college as he did in
the NFL. That was never the case before. And though
he's not a kid that comes from tremendous wealth, comes
from a nice family, and then he has a lot
(23:27):
of money in the bank because he's played in this
NIL era and it's guaranteed to stick around with winning
the Heisman Trophy, as you're always going to be able
to go to that mailbox and get money with the
Nissan deals, et cetera. So the question is will NIL
guys be as motivated as the pre NIL guys.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Yeah, it's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
It's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
What I mean, We're gonna find out over the next
five years because this is really the first crew. And
let's face it, I mean, the quarterbacks are making way
more money than all these position players, right. I mean
maybe Marvin now, Marvin grew up rich, but maybe he
was making half a million dollars. Maybe some of these
d linemen, but the quarterbacks were the guys making all
the coin. Listen, I mean think about Stephen Clay grew
(24:08):
up rich, Peyton grew up rich. You know, it's about
your wiring. So to me, if he is, I'll give
him credit because I thought I forget the game. Maybe
it was the Utah game. It was clear like they
couldn't even win the Pac twelve. It's like, you know,
I kind of expected him just to tap out. He
didn't play the Bowl game, but neither as most guys.
But he played out the season and he didn't need
(24:31):
to write once the season was nothing, there was nothing
to be accomplished. But I think that comment is more
of a reflection of you'd never say that about a
saving guy, or a Kirby guy, or when Urban was there,
or even a hardball guy. Why because they're in your
you know what all the time. Well, you know, I
(24:51):
think Lincoln a little bit kid gloss relative to the
to those guys. It's or a Utah guy, it's just
not as intense. And I wonder if that's more of
a reflection on Lincoln than it is Caleb. Now we're
going to find out, you know, Caleb and the pros. Now,
he's not really going to some prominent crazy coaching situation.
(25:14):
I wouldn't compare eber Flus to like Vrabel or Belichick,
and he definitely doesn't have quite the juice to be
like that. But he's going to get coach hard and
they're going to try to you know, limit especially the
offense they're going to run with Waldro and run more
of a Shanahan system. Is play within the system, and
that's going to be and because of his talents if
you can play within the system when you need to
(25:34):
go outside of it. But I I'm less worried about
the money phasing the guy. I mean just watching him
talk and you know he went to this thing with
Purty because you know, I think we've seen a lot
of players. I mean, Tom Brady's dad was a member
of the Olympic Club when he was in junior high.
Not saying that he grew up like a millionaire, but
(25:55):
his life wasn't financially difficult. Now it's different growing up
when parents have money and you specifically have the millions
of dollars at but so does Pennix. You know, bo
Nicks and Pennix will pay seven figures to come back, right,
So these guys all have money. I think if we
put Caleb in that you got to put them all.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Sure, no, no, no, no question. But but but again
he's I feel like he's catching the wrath. And some
of it is he made the most. He made the most,
he won the Heisto Trophy, He had the fingernail polish thing,
he had the sideline thing where he's hugging his mom
like he and those things can be used used against him.
End of the day, he goes one, who goes two?
Speaker 4 (26:37):
I mean it's pretty clear. I think Jaden Daniels is going.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
To and then he goes three.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
You know, I kind of think they end up going
JJ McCarthy at three, if not entertaining, trading back, maybe
flipping with the Giants, because I don't know if you
I read that tweet the other day from Diana Russini
that was out there about Jonathan Kraft. My theory on
this that Jonathan has been licking his lips to get
(27:03):
Bill out of there and take over his dad's over eighty.
A little little out of it now and he gets
to run the show and it's going to be fascinating. Now.
The Crafts are taking a ton of heat, so the
easiest way to get a little heat off you, and
they need a player anyway, is draft a quarterback. But
their team stink stug. I mean, if you just went
(27:23):
like pro sports rosters baseball, basketball, and football, I mean,
they got to have one of the worst rosters in
all the professional sports. I can't speak to hockey, but
they feel like they'd be right up there.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
So quarterback, you better get it right.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Well, that's what I'm saying, so if you then you don't.
If he's just a little bit of you take Drake
May's a little bit of a project, the rest of
your team's awful, does it make sense to like flip
with a giant. I think who Brian Daboll was a
part of draft a pretty big project in Josh Allen,
and then it kind of, you know, invigorates some life
into that program. They're only moving from six to three,
(27:59):
so you're not given drafts for years. The Patriots maybe
get back to six and maybe they can still get
JJ McCarthy at six and accumulate some other picks and
kind of build up their roster. So I definitely think
that's on the table. I think one of these quarterbacks,
I've talked to a lot of scouts that think, what's
never happened in NFL history, right, quarterbacks go one through four.
(28:19):
I think the first time in a long time it
happened one through three was twenty one. Like that doesn't
happen very often.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Now.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Part of that is like if there was like a
Trent Williams or a Miles Garrett in this draft, the
Cardinals wouldn't even entertain moving. They would just take that guy.
Help the Patriots might take that guy, but that guy
doesn't really exist like the tackle or the end. It's
like some camp miss hall of Famer. They're good players,
but I think that factors in. I wouldn't be stunned
(28:49):
if one of these quarterbacks of the guys we talked
about at the top four ends up going like six, seven, eight,
somewhere in that range with a trade more than to
just unlock one through four.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Stug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. You mentioned
Penix and bow Nicks. Who's the biggest mistake that's going
to go in the first round.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Yeah, see, I don't think bo Nix ends up going
in the first round, and I think there's a chance
if he can stay healthy. We look back and go guy,
what why didn't people like Michael Pennix more? For two years?
He kicked everyone butt? He had won bad game, he
got lit up against the team, which is concerning because
they're basically an NFL team that Michigan game. But like
(29:32):
if you just watched them on a weekly basis, I mean,
he's pretty talent. He throws the deep ball incredibly well.
We know that translates. He wasn't a great athlete the
way he played in college, but then you watch his
pro day, he clearly is a good athlete. It's a
little CJ. Stroudish, right, Remember it was like, you know,
he's kind of like Jared Gobb hockey quarterback. And then
he had the Georgia game. You're like, whoa, I haven't
(29:54):
seen that. So if you can get some of that
out of Pennis, listen, I know been gone for a
while and they don't have the same philosophical philosophical beliefs
as al Davis in there, you know the regime since
but doesn't I mean Al Davis would have loved Panis
his bombs away, So you gotta wonder. You know, clearly
(30:15):
I think Jayden Daniels and Antonio Pierce he would have
loved to go to the Raiders, but that's not happening
because the commanders are just going to take him. The
Raiders are pretty desperate, especially for a little life in
that division. Now, with Harbaugh there, we know the chiefs.
I could see them moving up five or six spots
and just picking him and saying, what the hell. It's
just see, we got the infrastructure with some offensive weapons,
(30:37):
we got some good players on the roster. I kind
of expect maybe this is too much just buzz out there,
Michael Pennix end up being a Raider.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
That is the one and only John Middelkoff predicting Pennix
to the Raiders. Of course, who was the famous left
handed Raider quarterback that they've had.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
There was a guy that said he read the playbooks
by the light of the jukebox. I think he went
by Kenny the Snake Stable Nay the Snake.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Also, Mirnovitch was left handed quarterback as well. So they've
had they've they've had the good end. They've had both
ends of the of the left handed quarterback. That would
be interesting middle cough, great stuff, dude, Enjoy the weekend.
Get ready for the draft. I know it's so We're
a couple of days away. Can't wait to hear your pods.
Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 5 (31:24):

Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.
Speaker 1 (31:32):

the tyreck dot Com Studios. Let's get you to Dan
Bayer and get a game.
Speaker 7 (31:44):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb. Show what
you got there, Danny Doug. The game today is rank
them all?
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Right?
Speaker 6 (32:00):
U ranked the top three things we've seen so far
in the twenty twenty four NBA Playoffs.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
The top three things that that we've seen. Yes, it
could be good or bad. Sure, that's why you left
it good or open?
Speaker 6 (32:13):
Yeah, and it could be small, it could be large.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Uh say, I think the playing doesn't count.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
If you want it's no rules.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Gods so bad. I can't even watch this on TV. Uh,
let's see here. Top three things. I think Jamal Murray
shots number one, hitting a shot as the buzzer expires, Right,
you guys okay with it? Putting that one?
Speaker 3 (32:48):
I am okay, I'm.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Gonna put that one. Damian Lillard's thirty five in the
first half is two, not just not because we haven't
seen that from Damian Lillard, but considering all the stuff
with the Bucks, right that they feel like they're worse
he's adding him than they didn't have Giannis. It's a
series we thought they were vulnerable in all that stuff.
So that's two. And then I think Anthony Edwards Game
(33:14):
one performance at three. And the reason is we're waiting
on who that next wave is. And yeah, Jason Tatum
seems but a lot of people think Anthony Edwards got
a shot, and so far one game in, he's taken
that opportunity and used it smartly.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
All right, Doug, shifting gears. I was going to say
changing gears, but shifting gears is more apropos to the
National Football League. Rank your top three all time Chicago Bears.
This on the heels of the Bears having the first
overall pick.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
My favorite Chicago Bear. You got Ditcka, you got me Dicka,
and you got coach Ditka all Ditkas all the time?
My favorite my favorite three Bears? Uh, I guess I
gotta do Walter Payton three. Wow. I thought I thought
(34:07):
he would be Numero. Who knows he said my favorite? Yeah,
I know, but I thought no, my favorite Bear is
everybody like Jim McMahon, we forget Jim McMahon. Sure, like
Jim McMahon was, I.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
Don't think we forgot him. I just didn't think that
he would top Walter Payton. Well, he wasn't as good
a player as Walter Payton.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
He wasn't. But there's something about Jim McMahon that He
was like an every guy, right, I mean he was
literally looked like he could be a trucker. You know,
he could work on the docks and he come out
and play quarterback on the weekends. For he was. That's
legit how it felt like with Jim McMahon, he had
that every guy, every man sort of thing going for him.
(34:44):
So yeah, I put McMahon at one, all right? Who
else bears all the time? Dick Buckets has got to
be at two? And then I put Sweetness Walter Payton
at three. All right.
Speaker 6 (34:58):
I wondered if it was gonna be an all Super
Bowl shuffles. Yeah, then you start thinking of the other
eras in the line, and I was like, well I did,
but Kiss I got you gotta put butt kiss in,
all right. Doug ranked the top three people you think
of when we mentioned the phrase NFL draft.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
I think of NFL draft. I think of Eli Manning. Okay,
Eli Manning.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Because what he did to your Chargers.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
He actually, I mean the Chargers won that trade. If
we kind of go back in and break it down,
but yeah, I mean it made the made the Chargers
look way more dysfunctional than any team in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (35:39):
Does Eli win two super Bowl rings.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
If he's a charger, impossible to know, but the Likelhood
is probably not.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Yeah, I agree, probably not.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Hmm. Okay, so what do we what do we got here?
With Eli Manning? Eli Manning?
Speaker 6 (35:59):
Top three three names you think of when you think ye.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
And uh oh? What was the name? Steve? Not Steve
man what's the what was the lineman with the Michigan State? Mandridge?
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
So Tony Mandridge, uh Mel Kiper and Eli Manning?
Speaker 6 (36:22):
All right, finally, Doug, rank your favorite side item when
you're mouling down some wings?
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Wait?
Speaker 6 (36:28):
What your favorite side item?
Speaker 1 (36:31):
What do you like?
Speaker 6 (36:31):
Is a side? Fries, wedges, onion rings, kurds.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Honestly, I like this the carrots and celery and the
ert and clary and though what's it called dip? That's
three fries or two? But there's a difference. Wingstop fries
are the superior fry to any other fries that I've
had in the wing variety, in the wing category.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Yeah, that's the impetus of this question.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Yeah, they're amazing. I really like them. I like the cut,
I like the how cooked they are, and then the
seasoning is amazing, and then the number one thing. Yeah,
cheese Kurds Man. Yeah. It combines the best of Wisconsin
and the best of Buffalo all in the same dish.
There when you have the wings and the Kurds'.
