We talked a little bit more about Angel Reese, her
(01:01):
role or in our opinion, really lack thereof in the
WNBA's early success so far, no matter what she says.
But something just kind of dawned on me last night.
So I sent a sweet out and I want to
get your thoughts, and by what you said so far, Olden,
I think that you're in lockstep with me. But in
(01:22):
all of this conversation of how Caitlin Clark's been treated,
how the other players have treated her, what's been going on.
We hear from Kitlin Clark after these games, and she's
asked the questions and she's on the podium, and you know,
Angel Reese ducked out of a media session. She was
fined by the WNBA for it over the weekend following
that loss to the fever. So it is interesting Angel
(01:45):
Reese when she wants to talk and when what she
wants to say, usually it's on Angel Reese's terms. And
Caitlin Clark seems to be there the entire time. She
did show up late once getting treatment for an ankle injury.
But again this is this is the Angel Reese Clark
dynamic that goes back and forth. But we hear all
about Angel Reese and what Angel Reese wants people to
(02:06):
think about twenty years from now when they look back
at the game and they want people, she wants people
to remember that she had a role in this and
it wasn't just one person. And I got to thinking
about that one person, and it's imagine you're Caitlyn Clark
right now. Your dream has been to become a professional
basketball player, to play basketball, and I guarantee old and
(02:29):
she didn't dream about changing America's views on women's basketball.
That was not It's just I want to play basketball.
I want to go play in college. I ended up
choosing to stay in my home state of Iowa, and
now I get to go and play professional basketball. Three months,
two months ago, the world could not have been better
for Caitlyn Clark. And now I just wonder if she
(02:52):
thinks it was worth it. And when you look back
at it, there are three things and I made this
in the tweet, three points that I just I feel
describe the world that Caitlyn Clark is dealing with right now.
You're come into a brand new league. You're the Hailey's
comment of that league. Your peers are jealous of you,
(03:14):
your teammates don't stand up for you, and the league
has no idea how to handle your success and now
their newfound success.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, you're absolutely right, and it's true she's like, what
did I get myself into? And so again all bad business,
all bad business moves because that's the person right now.
She's destroyed at stirring to drink. And again, you know
I was saying earlier, I'm not saying that you have
to coddle her. You have to change your rules and
(03:44):
regulations for her. You don't have to tell the referees
to make certain calls. Uh huh. Just appreciate what she's
brought to your league, period. And I'm not surprised that
Angel making this statement she's making because it's like, why
not I'm tied to her, whether I want to or not,
(04:06):
whether people see it or that she's gonna use it
to her benefit as well. You know, I'm gonna latch
onto her coattail and ask Caitlin goes, so does Angel
Reese in her mind?
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, I was gonna say, do you think that she
understands that? Because when she speaks, When Angel respeaks, it
doesn't sound like she's grabbing onto the coattails. It's that
she feels that they are one A and one B,
or they are two one a's if that's even.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Possible, not even close.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Correct, But do you think that she thinks deep down,
does she realized that she's riding the coattails.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
She doesn't believe she's writing the coattails, but that is
what she's doing. She believed to your point, she believes
she is one A and one A plus. You know
that they're on the same level. But I'm saying they
not on the same level because two different players and
two different paths, you know, in their careers. You know,
people forget she started at Maryland and it's like, you know,
(05:05):
you couldn't handle it there, What was the reason why'd
you leave? You know, end up at LSU. So there's
so many different components. And again that's what I'm saying.
I would be welcoming this, and I would, and we
said this many many years ago, and Michael Jordan proved
it to us. Michael Jordan told us in the meeting,
y'all better get the best deal you can get on
(05:28):
collective bargaining because I'm gonna get my money no matter what.
So make sure the deal you get benefits everybody. Right now,
Caitlin Clark is that mover of the needle. Okay, y'all
need to say, Hey, she's brought all this into us,
(05:53):
Let's appreciate it. Let's get all the best deals we
can get for us because she allowing it to happen.
Right now. I mean, they're averaging seventeen thousand fans at
her games moving arenas. When was the last time a
WNBA team averaged seventeen thousand? Those are the questions they
(06:14):
gotta ask when they want to get upset, and oh god,
they don't deal in reality. There's some things I want
to say, man, and I oh my god, what.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
You can't say? But if there are the things that
you can say, we have the dump ear.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
We still not talk about the elephant in the room,
the giant, ginormous elephant elephant in the room. You know that.
I mean, these people are hating on her. You know,
she's a very good player. You know, she's a woman,
you know, and I don't know what her sexual orientation is,
(06:51):
but it's like, you know, I know that comes in.
She does have a boyfriend, and it's a topic that
stuff comes into play, All of it comes into play
because you got to remember, when the league started, there
was people that were afraid it's like it's becoming a
lesbian league, for lack of a better word, and it's like, dude,
(07:12):
stop hating on this young lady for what she's bringing
to your party. I mean, the financial aspects alone should
have everybody like damn.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, they should be I don't think that. I don't
feel that it has had that moniker as of late.
I understand what you're saying. I just don't think that
a lot of people knew that Caitlin Clark had a boyfriend.
I don't think that that when Kitlyn Clark was launching
threes three years ago, when this kind of started to
start to bubble a little bit, I don't think anybody
(07:43):
knew about her sexual orientation. I think they were just namorate,
like they where was Steph Curry that somebody was taking
thirty seven foot jumpers and making them on the regular exactly.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
But the undertones are there, and they lead to the
animosity and hate because right now there it's Caitlyn Clark hate.
And it's absurd to me that somebody that's turned your
game around you're hating on It's like you're biting the
end that's feeding you. The only people who are hating
on it other people who are benefiting from it exactly,
(08:17):
and it's like that makes no sense. What's the quote
you cut off your nose spite your face, and that's
what they're doing right now. So again, to me, it's
so absurd. You are benefiting, but yet you're hating on her.
And that's why I keep saying, so many freaking agendas.
There's just too many of it, too many agendas all
the way around, instead of because again we're still not
(08:40):
talking about basketball. Why the hell would you have her
come into your league and the first two games she
plays is against two of the toughest defensive teams in
your league.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
And the amount of games that they have played early
out in the season compared to other teams has also
been brought up where they were jam packed on a
schedule or brought up on a schedule and insane. The
other the other part of this that I don't think
gets talked about enough, especially with Caitlin Clark's transition from
college basketball to the WNBA, is when I say her
(09:18):
teammates don't stand up for her, and when I say
her peers are jealous of her, and when I say
that the league wasn't ready for her. None of this
had to happen right now. Maybe it was inevitable, Olden,
but there was a discussion three months ago that we
were having on what Caitlin Clark should do with her career.
(09:38):
Because of the COVID year, she had an opportunity to
return to Iowa for another year. It would have been
easy to do that. Maybe some of the Caitlan Clark
fever runs out a little bit, who doesn't want to
stay in college for as long as you can and
live out those college dreams. But before her final home game,
(09:59):
she releases a state and says, I'm going to the WNBA.
And I felt that she needed to do that, you
know why, because the WNBA needed it. Like that is
the proper That is the stewardship as a woman's basketball player.
To take my torch and now try to carry it
to the WNBA to shine a brighter light on that.
She could have stayed in college. She could have had
(10:21):
nil deals that are in the millions. Reports that Fox
Fox TV wanted to put together an nil deal to
keep her so they could broadcast more of her games
next year. In college basketball, that is an actual thing
that happened. She would have gotten millions to stay at
Iowa City and probably would have won more basketball games
and Iowa would have continued to roll and then could
(10:43):
have gone into the WNBA the next year. And maybe
all of this crap isn't happening because she's not in
the same class as Angel Reese, or there's time for
this season to kind of breathe in all of this drama.
But no, she chose to go to the WNBA and
what does she get for it. Yeah, she gets her shooting,
but an absolute miserable start to her career that I
(11:04):
wonder if she would rather have stayed at Iowa City
for next year.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I think she's definitely second guessing her move now based
on what's been happening. But at the same time, I
think it was the right move twice. Yeah, because you
have to strike on the fires hot. He's the one
thing that always stood out to me, and I think
this is where a lot of people are upset, and
it wasn't even WNBA started in college. When they were
doing the NCAA commercials, they always showed her when she
(11:30):
did the heart sign with my Mom. That's stuck out
in a lot of people's minds. It's like why they
just is this the only person? So it started even
back then because she was getting the notoriety and publicity.
But I'm like, that's what happens when you're good. That's
what happened when you're a game changer. I'm not saying
she changed basketball, but she does. She did change basketball
(11:52):
in a certain way because she was just It wasn't
like she was throwing those shots up and they were missing.
She was throwing up and they were going in. And
we wanted to see more of that. I know I did.
I wanted to see this young lady play because I
had never seen anybody with that kind of courage to
(12:12):
just jack them up and that kind of freedom to
just jack up thirty five forty footers and it was
normal for her. It looked effortless and staffordless, and so
to me, it was a beautiful thing to see. But
I also enjoy watching pagebackers. I enjoy watching Juju Watkins.
I enjoy watching all these young ladies play, you know,
(12:35):
and have you know, potential in WNBA careers. So I'm
on a different path than most of these people. Like
I said before, I don't have any agendas, so it
doesn't matter to me, I'm going to enjoy the game
for what it is. It's a beautiful game, whether it's
played by men or women. And to me, I've always
said this, the women game is a lot better than
the men game because they they focused more on fundamentals
(12:59):
whereas the men because it's more on athleticism. And so
to me, it's a great game. So she's she's playing
all this stuff is happening to no fault of her own.
And that's what's the saddest part for me. You know,
she's getting all this abuse and everything else. She just
want to play basketball. I guarantee she's second guessing. Nothing
(13:23):
has really gone right for her. Hack her opening press conference,
there's the weird question from Greg Doyle. Oh you know,
like even that, like from from from day one, it is,
it has been, it is. It's just not been good
for Kaitlyn Clark. And do they think it's Kaitlyn Jenner?
Are they miss saying Kaitlyn Graf and Kate. I don't
(13:45):
know why she get all this hate.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
It's it's it's it's absurd. He is olden polonies. I'm
Dan Byer. One quick question before we take a time out.
You mentioned Paige Becker's this page. Beckers get the same
sort of treatment next year in the w NBA.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
No, no, she doesn't, because she's not moving the needle
like Caitlyn is. For whatever reason, she moves the needle.
She's the hot topic subject. Paige Becker's to me is
a better player overall. So then does that take race
out of this It shouldn't be in it in the
first place. That's my point. We're making it about everything
(14:20):
other than basketball. That's the problem that I'm having. Let's
keep it at basketball. But we haven't done that. We've
added race, We've added to the agendas. We've added, you know,
our personal feelings, everything else other than basketball, and this
young lady's feelings. And I don't care if it's Caitlyn
or Angel Rees, it could be on both of them.
(14:43):
We are not leaving it where it's supposed to be
on the court. We've taken it where with changing. Basically,
we want to change laws and views about social stuff,
about gender, your equality. Everything is being played out on
a basketball court now.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
The Fevers next game comes up on Friday against the
Washington Mystics. This after Clark had just three points on
one of ten shooting in a loss to the New
York Liberty. You mentioned schedule, the team they played three times.
That was the third time they played. But I also
think that there was absolute fallout on what had happened
the day before everything talking about the Chicago skuy That
(15:27):
three point effort, to me shows that, all right, it's
kind of gotten to her. Not that back to backs
aren't aren't difficult, because they are, but it sure seemed
to really add up in what was her worst performance
of the year.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
We'll see how she responds on Friday. Yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
He is Olden Polonies. I'm Dan Byer, the non NBA vet.

we have to go down memory lane. As whenever Olden
(16:25):
Polonies is here, it's time for.
Speaker 5 (16:36):
Where time ships away leads you another mister, but Gloris
Dorri the.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Olden We go down memory lane with the fifteen year
NBA vets who had many many teammates, including Mitch Richmond
and Sacramento.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
You guys teamed up.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
But Mitch Richmond recently told the story on the All
the Smoke podcast that included you when you weren't teammates,
and they were talking about what it was like to
play for Don Nelson as a head coach. This was
rich Mitch Richmond with Steven Jackson and Matt Barnes on
All the Smoke.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
We played Seattle the Polyonies.
Speaker 6 (17:21):
It's not like a bruiser, and he was beating up
on all of us, all all the big men. And
I remember Nellie put in a guy he didn't play
that much. He put him in and say hey, I
want you to file out, file.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
And hit op every time. Love it.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
Guy went in there and didn't file op, not one time.
And I'm like, oh god, oh he in trouble.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Next day when we lose up new he used to
run out him.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
He tell the guy, okay, let's go. He ran it
for about forty five minutes. He ran a forty five minutes.
We were like, oh my god, man. And then at the
end he called everybody in. He said, hey, man, everybody
say goodbye to him. He come after that cut him out. Yeah,
he was like, oh my love boy, you didn't mess
with de.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Uh So, do you know who didn't follow you? He
would have been with the Golden State Warriors at the
time you were with the Sonics.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah. Do you know who he was talking about. I
think it was Shelton Jones. That's who it was, because
I remember the story when Mitch told it, and it
was funny because I didn't know there was a hit
on me.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Heels good though, right, Like, I mean, if you're coming
through unscanned and Dan.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
The funny thing about it, I wasn't concerned. I'm one
of those people. I'm a rare breed. I'm not gonna
talk about it, you know. Sure, I grew up watching
my few movies. They don't tell you they're gonna do it,
they just do it. So I'm not gonna stand there
and have conversations and arguments with you. It's like, hey,
just don't invade my space.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Another great addition of olden days with Olden polonies, and
you'll never ever get sick of the great the Great

time NBA champion, Robert or Robert Olden Polonies alongside me
Dan byer in for Doug Gottlieb today and we need
to clear some stuff up.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Okay? Is that is that good with you?
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Before we get into NBA Finals and who you like
Celtics MAVs. Can we clear a couple of things up
with you?
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Robert Ory?
Speaker 8 (19:58):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
First of all, there was some question, Uh, someone mentioned
that you don't like being called big shot Bob?
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Is that correct?
Speaker 8 (20:09):
No, that's not that's that's that is I don't mind
being called big Shot Bob.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
It's it's and I figure because you have a podcast
called the Big Shot Bob Pod, right.
Speaker 8 (20:21):
Exactly to tell you a love that I don't mind
being called big Shot Bob. Okay, the big Shot Bob
Pod and that that.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
That's what I figured as well. And it is Bob,
it's not big Shot Rob right, because it's the Big
Shot Bob Podcast.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Correct correct.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
There is what happened was, I was I made a
joke with someone that my mom didn't want me to
be called Bob because that's what they call my dad.
And so she's like, I don't like him to call
you Bob, and I passed it alone and it was
Creig Killborn correctly said big Shot Bob. I'm sorry, big
Shot Rob because his mom doesn't want to be called Bob.
And that's how we became, you know, known day like, oh,
(20:59):
he don't like to be called Bob. It's not me.
It's my mom that don't like me to be called Bob.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That's awesome, Hey man, how you doing?
Speaker 8 (21:09):
How good on pi? You man?
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I'm good man. I'm glad we ain't banging on each other.
Speaker 8 (21:14):
No more pause, help me come on, man, This day
and age you know, you got to be really really
restrict on what you say exactly.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
So I have a I have a quick question for
you before we get going. Also, you know, the old
saying is luck is when opportunity meets preparation. Do you,
with everything you've done over the years in your career,
you know the seven rings, do you consider yourself the
luckiest guy around?
Speaker 8 (21:50):
I consider myself the smartest guy around for putting myself
in the right position to be successful. And I think
a lot of people, you know, they put them to
a certain situations because of money. You know, I took
less money to Stan san Antonio and then went on,
you know, another championship. There's so many things about me
that people don't know. You know, they think, oh, you
(22:12):
were lucky. I said, no, I'm not, like I'm just smart.
I know what teams to play with. I know what
team I can make better. I know what player I
can make better. And for me, it's all about putting
yourself in the position to be successful, and I think
I did that very well in my career.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Robert Oory joining us here on Fox Sports Radio courtesy
of bet Online.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
It is The Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Are the Boston Celtics lucky because they've gone through a
playoff run where Jimmy Butler was hurt, then Donovan Mitchell
got injured, Tyres Halliburton wasn't available for the Pacers. Do
you consider the Boston Celtics lucky at any point to
reach these NBA Finals?
Speaker 8 (22:48):
No, because they had the best record in basketball. I
think to me, Jason Tatum has been the most disrespected player.
You know, everybody wants to criticize players. Sometimes you think
about Elates team is the best record of basketball, and
now that everything is so easy for him that they say, oh,
he's not ready. It's gonna be a big bust to
be loving, it's gonna be a losing seat, and he
(23:08):
knows be a failure. It's already a phase. Is like
twenty plus teams because they're not in the finals and
two teams left. And so I think, for me, the
way he's been criticized and the way everybody looks at
him is like I tell everybody's all that people hate
a pretty boy. I think because this game is so
smooth and it's pretty and he's a good looking fella
(23:28):
that they just hate hi him for no reason. So
stop hating Jason Tatum.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
I hear you. Hey, Rob, you had a front row
seat to most of the you know, pretty much every
Laker game. What did you make of this season? And
also what do you think about the coaching search right
now and the possibility that JJ Reddick might get the job.
Speaker 8 (23:53):
I think JJ Briddeck will get the job. And I
think at the end of the day, if you watch
the Lakers player, I thinks, then play smart basketball this season.
You know, I think for me, when you got the
best player in basketball, me and AD on your team,
you use them, And every time I looked up, there
was putting him in the pick and roll situations set
of getting him in the post. You think about, this
(24:14):
is what amazing, This is what kills me. Lebron's out.
You put a D in the post. He's averaging forty games,
forty points a game for about eighteen games. Lebron comes back,
then you put it back in the pick and rolls, Like,
what are you thinking as a teammate, What are you
thinking as a coaching staff, what are you thinking as
the front office? And I think until they make Ad
(24:35):
the focal point where they give them the ball and
the position to be successful. Why would you send him
out there to do a pick and roll with Lebron
Ar and d Lo where nobody on the court can
guard him in the post. And I don't understand that.
So if if JJ ready when he becomes the head coach,
if he doesn't make ad the focal point, they conna
be in the same situation at the end of.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Season next year, Robert Rory joining us year he's on
the polonies.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
I'm Dan Byer. How does that work? If this shure
seems to be like a Lebron James's guy higher in
JJ Reddick, how does JJ Reddick tell Lebron know, Oh well.
Speaker 8 (25:09):
You just got to say it. You know, at the
end of the day, you got to to be a
coach in this league. You gotta have some balls, and
a lot of these coaches are scared to you know,
tell these superstar players know you can't do this or
sit your butt down. And for me, you got to
have the right. That's why I love Thibodau. Tims doesn't.
He's like, I don't care who you are. This is
my team. This is where we're gonna coach it. This
is where we're gonna do it. And For me, you've
(25:30):
got to have someone that coming out with the mindset. Well,
the first year coach be able to do this, I
don't know, you know. And for me, I think when
it boil down to players, you know, it's not the coaches,
it's about the players doing what they need to do
make the team's sex. You know, you think about my
Laker days, it's like you had COVID, Like Kobe, it
ain't your time yet, were going to big Fella in
(25:51):
the post Big fellas out, Covid is your time. As players,
you got to recognize the pecanon and know who has
the advantage. Does ar have their half the time? No?
You know, does Ad have delpe? No, go to the
guy who has the advantage. And that's why basketball has
to be played. Everybody else plays that way. Why don't
the Lakers play that way?
Speaker 2 (26:11):
So that so Phil Jackson would just basically tell Kobe
it's not your time, we're going to shocked, and Kobe
was cool with it.
Speaker 8 (26:18):
Well, Kobe wasn't cool with it, but he understood the
pengingar Shack had the advantage, and sometimes as teammates we
were bypass Kobe like, no, dude, you out of control.
Right now, we're going to shacks and you got to
have the ass players. You got to know who has
the advantage and go to that break a play. You
know Tim Duncan has the advantage. Now Marnum got out
the way, We're going to Tims and you've got to
(26:39):
be able to do that as players, and a lot
of these players, they they're so strong minded that they
think they are going to make the next shot. They
have the advantage every day, every time down the court,
when actually they don't.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
You know, I'm looking at these bet online odds here
and Jason Tatum is the favorite four Finals MVP minus
one twenty. But it's also likely because it's Tea is
the favorite in the series. What does Luka Danci you
have to do to not only win that series, but
win this MVP for the NBA Finals.
Speaker 8 (27:08):
He's gonna have to average thirty five points a game.
He's going to play a little bit of defense because
he can't he can't hide like he did with Minnesota.
You know he's able to switch out on big. He's
gonna have to get out on the for him to
guard guys. Because you think about the Celtics, they shoot
more threes than anybody, made more threes than anybody. They
starting five off shoot threes, you know, and so he's
gonna have to He's gonna have to guard somebody, and
(27:29):
that's going to be the biggest key if he's able
to guard somewhere and keep them from exporting him on
the defensive end.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
And one quick one, Paulzingi's coming back. What do you
make of that and how effective you think he'll be?
Speaker 8 (27:42):
I think, you know what, for me, I will I
would if he's coming back, I'm bringing him off the bench,
you know, to try to ease him into it because
you think about the op you know this, and you
have an injured ankle. You just can't come back into
the to the playoffs where the drillings higher, the players
are better, the system is that they know you. You know,
you can't just come back to that. We'll be back
for Zingias that I was, you know, eighteen games into
(28:05):
the years. I think for me, it's just when I'm
way to go to eat because they've been winning it
on him. I know it's been an easier team they played,
but you got a rhythm, and rhythm is the most
important thing when it comes to the end of the season.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
All right, all right, last one Olden lied?
Speaker 2 (28:19):
How did Rudy tan Janovich or or Phil Jackson, you know,
how would they stop Olden polonies? What was the word
in the locker room when old Key was on the
opposite side of the bench, Robert ri what what what
are these masterminds saying to stop Olden?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
I wasn't even in the sky report.
Speaker 8 (28:38):
The sky reported op is you know, let opbop because
you know he's gonna play great. Oh he's gonna play
not so great. So you know, think about it. I
had dream, I had shaq. Do you I really need
to worry about.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Oldp You're right, absolutely, Robert Ri here courtesy a bet online.
Check out bet online for updated Final Series and MVP odds,
along with game by game lines and props. Robert, we
love having you. Appreciate it, and good luck with the
pot as well. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
Thank you. Guys have a greatness.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
All right, so we learned Luca needs to average thirty five.
His dad's the Bob, but he doesn't mind being called
mind that.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I still say he's the luckiest guy around.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
But you know what this, you know, like he and
Sam Cassell like when you look at that Rockets team,
for those young guys to be able to incorporate themselves
like that's like immediately they're like you look at the
rookies this year, Victor webin Yama excluded, but like someone
like Kimi Hawkas comes in fits into the Heat culture.
It now sets Heimi Hawkes up for the next ten
(29:41):
years of being a solid contributor in the NBA, and
maybe even more than that, those young guys on that
team when you had all the veterans that can't be
easy to blend in with.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
I'm gonna tell you right now who Robert Oi reminds
me of the legendary the late legendary acted John Cozzali,
remember him, No, the Godfather, all right, mister mafia over here. Yeah, well,
you know that's my Thingredo Fredo from The Godfather, all right?
Speaker 5 (30:10):
He did like he did like six Motion pictures. Five
is five. Deer Hunter was one of them, Yeah right.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
The conversation did Hunter?
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Another one with Pacino? I think it was dog Day
ter Day.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Afternoon and the two Godfathers and then he died. All
of them nominated for OSCARS. Amazing career, all of them
nominated for Oscars three of them winning. That's like, that's
Robert O' It's like, I'm just a walking championship. So
wherever Robert Ari was, that's what you needed to be.
But again, he would hit the shots as well. He
(30:43):
was ready when the opportunity was that that's why they
the luckiest guy. No opportunity met preparation, and he still
was able to knock down those shows. It was insane
watching this and I'm like, dude, you are that guy.
Forty seven years okay, those seven championships, that's the most
since nineteen seventy six. All the other ones Bill, Bill
(31:03):
Russell and everybody was pre seventies nineteen seventy six.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
So he won the title in his second year. I
believe Sam Cassell was the rookie h then in that
ninety ninety four team against the New York Knicks, and
then obviously they go back to back and the match
of oj finals, it was it was, yes, it was
he's op. I'm Dan byer op on page eight of
(31:28):
the scouting report. But hey, as long as you' not
no Dan Paige a. I was on page one. You
said you weren't you wait two minutes ago it just
said that you weren't on the scouting hours.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
It was a Joe, Oh my god, what was.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
So was mine?
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I didn't think a scouting report would be eight pages.
I just figured it would be yea on coaches Paige
scouting report. Really unfortunately they're not coaching in the NBA anymore.
He's older polities. I'm Dan Byer. It is the Doug
Gottlieb Joe. We almost came to fisticuffs older than me
right year. Like it was pretty close. I could feel
(32:03):
it when like just right now, like we almost literally
came to blows. Wow, it was Oh did you guys
see that as well? I don't know at Olden Polony Squad.
You can find me at Dan Bayer on Fox.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's holding polonies.
I'm Dan Byer. Big things to Robert Orie. I feel
we got it. We cleared a lot up, you know,
and Robert had a lot of information passed along for
the NBA Finals. Thanks again to Ben Online for Roberts appearance.
But a big shot. It is big shot Bob. We
clarified it. It was supposed to be Rob because his
(32:47):
mom said, uh, Robert's dad's the Bob. But it just
stayed as big Shot Bob and we have big Shot
Isaac Low and Crown with the press.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
The press doesn't roll off. The tongue is easily, but
it still works for us here.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
Oh, it works for me.
Speaker 9 (33:03):
Believe me. Our first item fellas Los Angeles Lakers general
Excuse Me. Los Angeles Lakers forward Lebron James was conducting
the most recent episode of his podcast with co hosts
New Lakers Excuse Me, former NBA player JJ Reddick, and
(33:25):
Lebron on the most recent podcast that was released today,
lamented the fact that he is no longer a teammate
of Kyrie Irving. Lebron said, and I quote, I'm so
bleeping happy and so proud to watch him continue his growth.
I'm so bleeping mad at the same time that I'm
(33:46):
not his running mate anymore.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Unquote.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
I I think it's great that Lebron is supporting one
of his former teammates, But then, why why didn't things
stay together in Cleveland?
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Why didn't I mean, why hasn't.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
There been another return trip It has been rumored over
the last couple of years of them possibly hooking up again.
But do you think Lebron is just saying that he's
mad because it's the right thing to say, or do
you think he really feels that he missed out on.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
A championship or two because he and Kyrie split. I
think he really means it. But the problem that I'm
having is that we need to hear it right now.
You know, let Kyrie enjoy his moment. You don't need
to talk about you Lebron right now. He I mean,
you want the greatest your goat. You wanted the goats,
(34:37):
We get it, so let it be. So that's my thing.
I don't I don't care. Man, dude, you could keep
the team together. All right. I'm gonna ask this and
then Isaac, gotta let you have the floor again. Bigger
play in that Game seven of the NBA Finals, Lebron's
blocker Kyrie's three. Kyrie's three. The block didn't do anything
(34:57):
but give him the opportunity for the three.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
There it is the answer from oldem. I agree with you,
by the way, because nobody was scoring except that bucket
at the end.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
All right, Isaac take it.
Speaker 9 (35:08):
Away onto the NFL, where San Francisco forty nine Ers
receiver Brandon Ayuk and Cowboys receiver Cede Lamb, who are
both seeking new deals, did not report to their respective
teams mandatory mini camps. Today. Both are subject to being
fined for it. For his part, forty nine Ers head
coach Kyle Shanahan said a short time ago to reporters,
(35:31):
some guys come because they want to avoid a fine
and some don't. But regardless, it doesn't change anything when
those guys have come. We know what the process is,
we know what the business part is. That's just how
they decide how they want to handle this week.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Unquote, I don't have any worry about Ceedee Lamb.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
The Ayuk situation is unique on the heels of what
you've been reporting. I don't know if you have it
coming up. But the Christian McCaffrey deal, he gets a
two year extension on his contract. Maybe that ends up
freeing up some even money that they can they can
use to resign Ayuk. But here's the thing that I've
learned about the forty nine Ers. No matter what troubles
(36:10):
this team somehow certainly has early on, they end up
figuring it a way out and then end up running
over people anyway.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
So it's true.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Do I think like I mean, they had how many
quarterback controversies and it didn't work out. So I don't
think a wide receiver still not under contract or wanting
a new contract that should say, is going to cause
any ripple effect with the Niners.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
No, not at all. But it's always boggled my mind.
I understand a business aspect of it, and I've never
held out. I'm like, oh, you offering me this, thank you.
I took my first offer, but I'm not giving away money.
I don't want to give away money to make a
point to you know, work, you know, do contract negotiation.
(36:52):
That's crazy to me.
Speaker 9 (36:55):
And finally, Scott Foster is trending right now because the
the NBA announced a short time ago the list of
the twelve officials who have earned assignments for the twenty
twenty four NBA Finals, and the list indeed includes the
likes of Scott Foster.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Tony brother Yeah, go ahead, so yeah, Tony Brothers.
Speaker 9 (37:17):
Let's see Tony Brothers.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Wait, no, wait, I want to guess, like that's that's truoint, okay.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Zachar yes, Ed molloy, No, oh, Ed malloy.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
He didn't make it. I I lost. There was my streak.
Scott's only in there in case they need somebody to
win a game cold snap.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Geez, who else we got Kennedy, Bill Kennedy, Yes, yeah,
that's Mark Davis. Yes, oh no, others we got yeah.
Speaker 9 (37:51):
Joey Crutt no Yeahveta yes, my god. What are your
interactions with those guys like Joey?
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I love them. I loved joe egotistical. But it's like,
as long as you called him Joey, you were good.
That's as long as you didn't make you know, physical whatever.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
That's because they never called the foul on the Warriors
center that tried to foul Olden outs in that you
know didn't happen. All right, Isaac, thank you very much,
and that is the press.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
All right.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
You got to pick for game one of the series
of the Finals on Thursday, Dallas Mavericks, both in game
one and overall. Yes you heard it from Ope, he's
Olden polony s. I'm Dan Byert's The Doug Gottlieb Show
on Fox Sports Radio.
