ten thousand recommended sellers tyrat dot com.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
It's the way the tire buying should be welcome in.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Hey, I.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Do you guys ever go to live auctions or you
ever a place where there's a live auction. I was
thinking about this, and we'll get to the news of
the day, which is Lakers seem to be hot to
trot in the possibility of hiring Danny Hurley as their
their decks head coach. But I was thinking about this,
So the NBA is gonna do something really really smart, right.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
TNT has been a good partner.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
TNT doesn't have the money to go above the NBC
bid above the ESPN bid above the Amazon bid. Okay,
so just like the NFL, it doesn't have to be exclusive,
like break them off a little piece. You know, have
your have the NBA basketball on a bunch of different places,
and this way you keep inside the NBA. Brilliant, brilliant.
(01:28):
But this is a lot like have you ever seen
this with auction items? And I know this because you
guys in marked your calendar. I believe it's July twenty second.
We have our first we have our golf tournament at
I think it's a Green Bay country club, and you
know we'll have We're gonna have unbelievable things to auction off,
(01:50):
like for example, and I don't think we've talked about
this the show. Our first game is going to be
November fourth against my own modern ocal mistake. Like that's
pretty cool, So you know you want to come on there.
We got like, hey, we're going to auction off a
trip for two people. You get to ride with me
and do whatever I do. We have a dinner the
(02:12):
night before the game. We'll probably do more than that,
and you know, sit right behind the bench or sit
on the bench, I don't care. And then what you
can do is you get to where people get it
bit up. They were like, why don't we just split it?
You guys have been doing auction before. When people do that,
let's just split it.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Let me deal.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Why make you know, why make six thousand dollars on
an auction item when you can split it and make
ten thousand dollars and sell them both for five or
if they both get to five in terms of the bidding, hey,
hold on, let's just do this. Let's keep it at
five and we'll split it. We'll have two packages. That's
what the NBA is doing. If they break something off
(02:54):
to TNT, which is smart, you keep inside the NBA.
You keep t Turner, all their broadcasters, those people. They
do a really good job. You generate more money for
UH for the league. And oh yeah, by the way,
it doesn't really coroach on the other deals. The only
issue would be potentially is you know, like, if you're
(03:15):
ESPN and your or your NBC or your Amazon and
you want to develop a basketball show, that one's going
to outshine you because it's the best sports show on TV.
It's best sports show on TV. But I think that's
brilliant brilliant and it's a very easy solution.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Danny Hurley's name is all throughout the news. Danny's a friend,
Danny's been on the show. Danny's the head coach of
the Yukon Husky's they went back to back national titles
and apparently now he's the main focus of the Lakers
coaching search. Ironically, this is Danny Hurley. He was on
with Mike Francessa, who's literally part of the most famous
(04:00):
sports radio show in the history of the industry. He
was on Francesa just yesterday in regards to the NBA.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I do aspire, you know, one day, if the if
the right NBA situation were to come along, I do aspire.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
To really really really okay, you'd you'd like to take
a shot at the NBA.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
If the right the right situation where you know, an
organization wants a tone center to to to to come
in and uh, you know, and still a culture, you know,
young players and an organization that wants to pursue championships
have to be in.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
The Northeast with your wife And would she, I don't know,
if she'd go all over the country, would she?
Speaker 6 (04:43):
She's the boss?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Uh, I mean again, he's now part of it is.
We don't know where they were in the discussions with it,
but yeah, I mean, if you want to come in
and bring a culture, if you're going to let me coach,
why can't I do it? Well, we make it out
and it's so funny. So I've it's interesting the words
that he talked about culture. I'm not going to name
the name of where I am, but I'm in a
(05:08):
really really cool spot in wine country and I've gotten
to do this. I would say the easiest way to
talk about is like a symposium and there's all these
wildly successful champions of business that were part of this thing,
and it was all talking about culture and how culture
(05:30):
and purpose and when you're running organizations or you're starting
a new one, or how to fix organizations, and so
much of the breakdown is based upon their culture. And
it's interesting, you know, like the people who have been
here and it's all kind of wrapped up are all successful,
and many of them been successful in different business ventures,
(05:51):
but all using the same aspects of how they build culture.
Like I say this all the time, it's really funny
because when I say it, there was actually a rocket scientist,
a man who had led NASA and he's built these
incredible telescopes and now he's just as literally a rocket scientist.
(06:13):
And I always say that if if basketball was rocket science,
they would be rocket scientists coaching it.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
But there is, they're not. It isn't and I.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Think that's you know, and if you're Danny, you know,
the only two jobs, maybe three jobs you'd want won't
be the Knicks. You know, he's a Jersey kid who
don't want to coach the Knicks, And then the Celtics
and Lakers, and nothing else really exists. The rest are
just NBA jobs. The Lakers that's different, and there's a
(06:48):
certain amount of I don't want to say desperation, but
there's a reality to the Lakers that, Okay, post Lebron,
it's going to be interesting. You got to have like
a legit coaching vision and culture and purpose and way
in which you do things. Instead it's just been hodgepodge
for so long, right, just been a hodgepodge. So instead,
(07:13):
go all in on somebody. But by going all in,
they have to be proven as a coach, as a communicator,
as somebody who in this new kind of era of
player empowerment and enlightenment. You gotta be able to function well.
College basketball, in many ways is more difficult. You have
lesser talented players, lesser educated players, and shorter contracts.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
If you will, we're talking about one year deals.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Suppose to the NBA, the NBA would be more stable
than college basketball. And the big question is can you
get over yourself? Can you make it about the players?
I think Danny can. I think I think Danny can.

(09:07):
Tua and he's lost a bunch of weight here getting
ready for some of these OTAs.
Speaker 8 (09:13):
Say that one more time, Doug, I missed that.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Have you seen Tua's weight loss?
Speaker 8 (09:17):
I have seen Tua's weight loss. I didn't think he
needed to, but you didn't. I mean I didn't. I
feel like he didn't look like other players. I thought
he was just fine. But now that I see that,
I'm like, Oh, I didn't realize he could actually.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Lose weight twenty five pounds.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
Yeah, no, it's crazy, how you can't. I didn't know
he had that much on him extra that was crazy.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
I mean, like, look, he's simone.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
He's always he's always a thick, big bone do with
my friend's like yes, say yes so.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
But pads always a lot too, I'm sure. Yeah, the pads,
the pads, the jersey like that. Yeah, it's a bulky
it's a bulky get up.
Speaker 9 (09:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (09:55):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
It's interesting though, because Ryan Clark caught a bunch of
heat last year for saying, you know, all he did
he got tattoos in the off season, didn't work on
his body, right, And but he was right in terms
of like did he have to do the tattoo thing.
I don't know, Like you're allowed to get whatever tattoos
you want. We never say anything about anybody else's tattoos.
(10:19):
But if the point was more man yet worked in
his body, his body looks bad. That part appears to
be down on accurate because look at what he can
do when he works on his body. So I don't
think anybody's going to offer a maya copa, so a
mea copa. I just I don't see how that works.
(10:41):
Don't see how any of that works with with him
being a with it being just a complete man copa
because he did the tattoo thing, but the point of
it was, man, he really hasn't done the things it
takes to get himself in peak physical condition.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
And and look he's not alone, zion out. He's been
to that.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
We've had other guys not handling, not handling their weight loss,
not handling their weight altogether too well. So I don't
I don't know. It's going to be fascinating to see
how this all happens. We'll so to me. Him losing
weight this year just affirms that Ryan Clark was right
(11:22):
last year makes sense. Ryan Clark was right. We all
got to say Ryan Clark was right.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Thanks for listening to The Doug Gotleeb Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Be sure to catch us live every weekday from three
to five eastern twelve two Pacific on Fox Sports Radio.
Find your local station for The Doug Gotleep Show at
Foxsports Radio dot com, or stream us live every day
on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSRS Doug Gottleep Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. I think we need to
cue the music, don't we, because the funky cole Medina
(11:53):
is here. Yeah, we'll talk some NBA hoops. We got
the finals. Uh, we also have what does Dan Hurley
mean for the possibility of of drafting or acquiring Brownie
James Man. There's a lot to get to here with
it with the NBA stuff, a lot. I'm stalling now
(12:14):
because I'm waiting for there we go. Yeah, Mark Medina
joins us. He's our Fox Sports Radio NBA insider. All right, Mark,
what do you know about about the possibility of Dan
Hurley being the lakers next head coach?
Speaker 11 (12:35):
Doug I Internally there's optimism that he's gonna be the
next head coach within a week. So this is very fluid.
I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around it, and
I'm sure you are as well. But what's fascinating is that,
ever since this coach in search started, there was, you know,
(12:55):
the outside thought from people around the league that talked
to me and others that thought it's inevitable to JJ Reddick.
But internally, the messaging from the Lakers was always from
the beginning, Yeah, we're doing due diligence, we're keeping casting
wide net, et cetera, et cetera. And I always felt like, no,
I tend to believe more on the JJ Reddicks side,
but clearly that's not the case here.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Stug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports. You okay, so
what happened, like, like, what what happened? Everybody was talking
about JJ reg jj g jj Reg. Then we wake
up today and we'll just got this dandy early story.
Speaker 11 (13:28):
Yeah, I'm always humbled Doug that I wish I could
be in the room. But the Lakers messaging from the beginning,
from the whole time is we're talking to candidates and yeah,
JJ Redick was a candidate and they talked and say
with James Frego. But we're talking to head coaching candidates
and candidates that could be part of that head coaching staff.
So believe it or not, I mean that's what they say.
(13:51):
So it's not about something dramatically pivoted.
Speaker 10 (13:55):
You know.
Speaker 11 (13:55):
They like obviously Dan Hurley's resume as a championship coach
at Yukon. I recognize adjusting from the college game and
the pros is different, but they feel like his ex's no's,
his willingness to adapt and have a learner's mindset will
help things. But yeah, I mean I can't help. But
wonder if something did change in the process, because everyone
(14:16):
outside of the Lakers had this feeling, you know, talking
to people at the combine for example, that JJ Reddick's
the guy and it's his to lose.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
If if it is in fact Danny Hurley, what effect
does that have on Lebron James.
Speaker 11 (14:34):
Well, the feeling that I always got from the Lakers
and you never ruled anything out with Lebron James is
but they never since that they got any indication that
he was leaving. So does this now convince him to stay?
I think in their mind they felt like he was
going to stay regardless of who's been the head coach.
And you can believe this or not, but you know,
(14:57):
the messaging from Lebron's people basically ever since the Russell
Westbrooks trade happened, is that he's going to be hands off.
He's not telling the front office what they should or
shouldn't do. But no doubt the Lakers always have at
least an indirect temperature of how he feels about things.
But you know, for what it's worth, ironically, on the
podcast that he's done with JJ Reddick, he said positive
(15:19):
things about JJ on that podcast. He said the positive
things about Dan Hurley on that podcast, So I don't
think it changes as far as his possibility of leaving
because the expectation he's going to stay and just resigned
to a new deal. But it always is fascinating this
song and dance at the Lakers and Lebron ho.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Okay, let's let's get to Cleveland. What are you hearing
about their coaching search.
Speaker 11 (15:45):
Yeah, that's still wide open too, but you know they
have talked with the mutual candidate with James Brego, Kenny
Atkinson from Golden State as another candidate. Seems like that
Kenny Atkinson is probably the front runner. But you know,
similar to the Lakers, there's you know, nothing close to
a deal yet. You know, they've still been talking to candidates.
(16:07):
But if I had a guess, I think it will
be Kenny Atkinson. You know, he's had head coaching experience
with having positive experiences with developing players. Hasn't been proven
yet as far as taking a team to another level,
but I think this time in Colden State has done
him well being around Steve Kerse. So if I had
to predict, I think he'll get the job. But I
(16:29):
do have to stress here it's not like he's going
to be hired tomorrow anytime that that search is still ongoing.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Okay, But there is the Donovan Mitchell aspect of it.
There is the Paul George aspect of it. In terms
of potential movement, who's the who's the big name player
most likely to move first in the offseason.
Speaker 11 (16:51):
Yeah, I don't think it's going to be Donovan Mitchell again,
you know, you never know in today's NBA. But I
think the feeling is because they made some shouts changes
with getting rid of JB. Burke, bigger stuff, He's going
to sign a new extension. I think that Paul George
is someone to keep an eye on here because of
two things. One, the Clippers have signaled that they want
(17:12):
to keep them but not quite at that Max Steel.
And the other thing is Paul George is trying to
guard against following the paths of Blake Griffin. Of you know,
he is a valued part of the Clippers organization, they
resign him and then he just gets traded to a
team that he doesn't want to be on afterwards. And
so I want to be surprised if Paul George is
(17:33):
in Philly. I know that their hope and priority this
offseason is getting a wing player that can compliment Joe
Embiid and Tyres Maxy, But that remains to be seen,
but that is my guess that that's what's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
What's your feelings on this NBA Finals.
Speaker 11 (17:53):
It's tough, Doug, because going into last week I favored
the Dallas Mavericks because I felt like Luca Doctis is
the best player right now, Kyrie Irving is playing like
he was in Cleveland in twenty sixteen, and they've been
playing the best basketball in the playoffs now. I talked
with a few assistant coaches this week from other teams,
and most of them chose Boston and they felt like
(18:16):
on paper, they have a deeper roster. The Porzingis return
is helpful even if he's limited. And I think the
other thing is they strongly shot down any concern that
people have that Boston's vulnerable because they've had a relatively
easier pathway to the finals, and they've also downplayed the
idea that Boston's vulnerable because they've been inconsistent. They feel
(18:38):
like they deserve a lot of props for still playing
really well without Porzingis in advancing and they're facing a
different opponent in Dallas that they'll raise their games, So
they convinced me to choose Boston and seven. But look,
I'm really torn. He can make a case for Dallas.
It's not only just about Luke and Kyrie. Their supporting
cast is playing really well. Compote team. I think it's
(19:01):
going to go seven games. I guess I'll tick Boston,
but it really could go either way.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
All right, that's the voice Mark Medina, the funky Coolbdina
are Fox Sports Radio NBA insider. Uh So, now we
have the Lakers feeling like they're circle around a hurly.
We got the Cavaliers, We have all these other kind
of players up in the air. What about Trey Young.
(19:26):
There's still a lot of discussion about the possibility he's moved.
What have you heard from the Tree Young camp.
Speaker 11 (19:32):
Yeah, I think the feeling is that he's going to
be moved, whether it's before the NBA Draft or you know,
shortly leading into free agency. You know, it's ironic because
I think the Hawks initially concluded, oh, he's going to
be our guy. You know, we saw how he was
in the playoffs in twenty twenty one. But even though
they have taken ownership that, you know, they didn't have
(19:54):
the greatest ross around him. They've also, i think, concluded
that he's a great player, but he's not always a
winning player, and it's just better cutting their losses here.
So I suspect that that's going to happen. It's just
a matter of if it's before or the draft or
lean in the free agency.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Stut Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's the
voice of Mark Medina. It feels like the NBA. You
ever been to a silent auction?
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I have.
Speaker 11 (20:22):
I've never been on anything because I don't think I
could have afforded it, But yeah, I've been there fun.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Yeah, well maybe not silent, but also a live auction too.
Speaker 10 (20:29):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, And you know how when sometimes things get bit up,
bit up, it up, they're like, you know what, let's
just split it and let's give two of them.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Feels like what the NBA is doing with TNT and
keeping them in on the NBA, which is like, hey,
we'll just split it. We'll give your own little package.
That way we keep inside the NBA.
Speaker 11 (20:45):
Yeah, It's it's very fascinating, this turbulent landscape that the
NBA is going to substantially make more money and while
I'm not, you know, in the lane of media and
sports business. I just also know how this works. I
think the reality is that the NBA is very well
aware that all these companies are much better off keeping
(21:06):
things than not because that just will accelerate more business
challenges as far as cord cutting or streaming options not
really hitting. And they've used that competition against each other
and petted them against it, and that's how you create
demand in the marketplace.
Speaker 10 (21:22):
Right.
Speaker 11 (21:22):
So, the NBA, for all of its pluses under Adam
Silver and some of its minuses, one thing that I
will give Adam Silver credit is he's been good at
making owners happy. And one of the main reasons he's
made owners happy is he's found ways to find new
revenue streams and also tap into existing revenue streams to
(21:43):
make them even more valuable.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yes, no, he's done.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
He's done a great job with the with the business,
with the business of sports Doug Gottlieb Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. Mark Medina is in fact our guest.
Is it a good thing if, like let's say Luca
wins the MVP, another NBA champion, another foreign born MVP,
(22:07):
is that a good thing for the league?
Speaker 11 (22:10):
I don't think it's a good or bad thing. I
think the only thing that matters is they have players
that you know, play the superstar capabilities. I think that
if the NBA had its like ideal wishes of a
star like that star would also be charismatic, and Luca
is more of a stoic player. But I think at
the end of the day, performance is the most important thing.
(22:31):
And I think the second thing for the NBA is
they want their league to be attractive both to a
domestic and international audience. So he's obviously an international star,
and I think that they've gone past the window of, oh,
we need a face of the NBA to be American born.
I think right now, as we speak right now, clearly
(22:52):
Luca is a star, but as far as like the
exact face of the NBA right now, it's a composite
of different players, and that includes some American born ones.
So I think as long as he's playing at a high level,
that's all that's really going to be the driving force.
I think from Matt standpoint, the NBA would certainly be
happy with it.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Mark Medina, the funky Cold Medina himself, All right, Mark
listen will keep you on speed dial. If this early
thing goes down, this everything that goes down an.
Speaker 11 (23:22):
He meant it this week.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
From what I'm gathering, that thing changed in a heartbeat,
didn't it.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
It felt that way, felt like it changed in a heartbeat.
You're the best, Mark, Let's catch up soon. Thanks for joining.
Speaker 11 (23:32):
Right back at you, Doug, hope you have some good
intro music for next season as well.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
I will definitely have some good intro music. Well we'll
have that. Yeah, there you go and outro and don't
forget you get the outro too.
Speaker 11 (23:43):
Love it. I meant for your coaching gig.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
But oh, that's a great question. Thanks Mark, thank you.
That's a good question. And profet, maybe you're you're you're
a good one for this. Should I have my own
like intro music?
Speaker 9 (23:59):
You're in own intro music?
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah, like when I walk out And you know Mike
Boyton last year who I helped out as a as
a consultant Oaklahoma State. He's from Brooklyn, so he always
he always had jay Z for when he walked into
the arena.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
I do think this one is easy. I do think
we've got to go rage against the machine.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Bomb track because that's the that's been the radio shows
opening for a good decade.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Now, yeah, I like that. Bull like you got some
good options. Bulls on Parade, uh, sleep sleep sleep in
the fire. But bomb track is absolutely the way to go.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I mean Bulls on Parade, especially the end of Bulls
on Parade would be would be my would be my jam.
But I don't think that that can get played over
a loud speaker in an arena.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
You could do the opening, uh, the opening guitar, the
solo or not solo. My brain's not working, you know
what I mean, the intro to the song, the intro.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
To the song. Yeah, you can definitely do that.
Speaker 12 (24:52):
Outside of Rage, of course, Thunderstruck always always.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Thunderstruck is good. It does remind me of Varsity Blues. Sure, Moncy,
do you have any tips that there's I'm like, I
know a lot of old school ones.
Speaker 8 (25:06):
Old school is always good though, like it always.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
My old school is before you were born.
Speaker 9 (25:11):
They still hit the spot.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Thanks for listening to The Doug gottleb Show podcast.

Fox Sports Radio. Not the greatest time in music history, right,
(25:35):
A lot of good things about the eighties, rapping hip hop.
Speaker 9 (25:39):
You're still figuring. They were still figuring things out.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Still figuring some things out. Good way to put it,
good way to put it. Let's get to the press.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
The press sat happy with the stories today. Please all right.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
We're gonna start in the NFL here. We're getting ready
for the new season and a big question in the
air contracts, you know, Dak Prescott, also Jordan Love of
the Packers.
Speaker 9 (26:04):
What at a great end of the season last year.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Brian Gutta Kunz spoke to the media yesterday and this
is what he said about Love and an extension.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
We're in those conversations right now. And a nice part
about this is none of these things are always easier fast,
but both parties want the same thing. You know, we'd
we'd like to get this done, you know, before training
camp for sure. You know, both parties want to get
a contract extension done. I think that that stability at
that position really allows you to you know, have some
security with the way we build our team. So we're
(26:35):
looking forward to getting that done. But it never it
never goes fast.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Uh yeah, I mean like, look, they have the opportunity, okay,
the opportunity to hold on to Love and you know
his deal, he does not make a lot of money
this coming year, and to ride that thing out. I
think it is amazing on how quickly the national narrative
has turned around on Jordan Love.
Speaker 9 (27:00):
In the blink of an eye.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
But like last year at the start of the season,
Cowherd said he can't play. What's the guy who does
the CBS stuff, man, Adam Shine. Adam Shine was like,
he stinks, he's not good at football.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
And I understand you guys, those are national guys. They
weren't there, They didn't clearly didn't talk to people, but
there's a lot they were getting their information from somewhere.
And to go from there to the hey, he's got
to get a big deal. They got to get this
thing done. That's just as incredible a turnaround as possible.
I like the idea of signing him up long term.
(27:40):
Remember he's really young. He only played two years in college,
He's had time to develop and people like him in
the organization. Everybody likes him. But I just think again,
like he has three quarters of a very good season.
That's what he had last year, three orgos season. Cautious,
be smart, they always are. And if you want to
(28:04):
pay him, like you can pay him thirty. You don't
have to pay him fifty or pay him twenty five.
And then you can continue to put enough pieces around him. Yeah,
that even if he's not as good as maybe his
ceiling looks like it could be, he's got guys that
can pick him up when he falls when.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
He's not at that level.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
Right, Obviously, the Packers are trying to show him that
they want him around, but it's still a risk. Like
you said, it just turned around in one season from
beginning to end. On the opinion of Jordan Love, which
I thought he had a great end of the season
for sure, for sure.
Speaker 9 (28:39):
All right, let's move on to the big story of
the day today. Doug in the NBA.
Speaker 8 (28:43):
You know, U Cohn head coach Dan Hurley trying to
be lured by the Lakers to be their next head coach.
Apparently a big, massive, long term contract is being offered
or is in the works.
Speaker 9 (28:56):
Well, Gino Ariyema was on.
Speaker 8 (28:58):
The Dan Patrick Show and this is all he said
about talking to Hurley last night.
Speaker 10 (29:03):
You know, this is really funny because I happened to
be with it at a thing with him last night,
and I have no idea what's going on. You know,
I have no idea where this is going or what's happening.
But I said, just leaned over and I said, hey,
I think you could win a lot of championships with
the Lakers, you know, more so than a guy who's
never coached. And he just looked at me and you know,
(29:26):
nodded and we had a good laugh. And then this
morning I wake up and while off. So I don't
know what's going on. And it'd be a bad day
for Yukon for sure if this happens, and it would
be a great, great day for Dan Hurley and I'm
sure a bittersweet day for Dan early.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Okay, now you're being serious that you did bring this
up to him last night about the Lakers jump.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Out of nowhere.
Speaker 10 (29:47):
I just leaned over and I said, you know, I
don't know why it came to me. I don't know why,
but I said it, and if you ask him, I'll
tell you. And I had no idea and I woke
up this morning and somebody sent it to me and
I went, you got to be.
Speaker 8 (29:59):
Kidding Meed, I mean, that's creepy.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
That's amazing, right, that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
That's amazing and creepy all at the same serendipity man, yes,
sah and dippity.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Like, that's nuts nuts.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
I don't know what I want to see more I
want to see. Do I want to see Danny coach
in the NBA or don't want to see Geno coach
the Men? One of the two I like to see both.
Speaker 8 (30:23):
I think if I was not if Dan Hurley it
was not thinking of taking this job, and then Gino
says this to him and he's already having talks with
the Lakers. I feel like that's a huge sign, right,
that is a huge sign. If you're into signs.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Are you a sign person?
Speaker 8 (30:37):
I think I am. I tend to like when something
is in front of me and I try to just
I'm like, that's a sign. Yeah. You know, like today
I couldn't find my headphones to go running and I
have a bad foot, and I was like it's a
sign I shouldn't run because I'm a bad foot and
I don't want to get it worse. So I just
saw myself it was a sign probably profor you a
(30:59):
signs person.
Speaker 9 (31:00):
Like zodiac signs.
Speaker 12 (31:02):
No no, no no, like like, oh yeah, the world
is giving you signals every time.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
Yeah, I ignore it, but I think when it hits
a specific point, when there's been like about five things
in a row that have gone wrong, I'm like, I'm
going home. I'm not doing anything else of consequence. I'm
not even cooking, cause like this is clearly the world
telling me shut it down for the day.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Shut it down, Shut it Ryan, Ryan, are you a
science person?
Speaker 9 (31:28):
Big picture things?
Speaker 12 (31:29):
Yeah, like like when it comes to you know, career
decisions and life decisions. There there can be things that
happen where you're like, ah, this feels like something. But
if it comes to you know what I'm gonna eat
for dinner? No, like you.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Guys, do you think like I have a dream and
then your dreamy like you somehow, Oh my god, that
totally happened because I dreamt about it.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
I don't have dreams. I get deja vou a bit,
and I do know how to read taro Oh well
wait what I know how to read tarot tarot cards?
Speaker 2 (31:59):
You know how to read tear cards?
Speaker 9 (32:00):
Yeah? Do you have them with you?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
I think I still have my my my deck packed
up somewhere. Yeah, yeah, I do have a bag. I
do have them in a village. Yeah, it was it
was a phase in undergrad. It was a phase. I
was really interested in that stuff.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Goth is a phase tarot cards? Is that?
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Did did you see when in your tarot card readings?
Did you see that the phase would come to an end?
Speaker 5 (32:24):
I never drew the tarot for myself. Only other people,
aren't you supposed?
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Well no, I guess.
Speaker 9 (32:29):
It's either I never wanted to. I didn't want to
do it for myself, I think.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Is the thing?
Speaker 12 (32:34):
What what happened to the other people? Are they?
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Well?
Speaker 1 (32:37):
He saw he saw there, he saw their death die.
Speaker 9 (32:41):
I never drew death. I never drew death. I'm to anyone,
as did it work?
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Did anybody ever come back to you? Because like, hey,
manage that.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Ter know what the trick is to any fortune telling.
It's vague enough and archetypes enough that it doesn't matter
who you are, where you are. People see their own
life journey in those symbols. That's that's the trick.
Speaker 9 (32:58):
Yeah, I see that.
Speaker 8 (33:01):
People, that is true.
Speaker 9 (33:03):
All right, let's move on.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
I did not expect that, did anybody.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
At all?
Speaker 12 (33:10):
Not at all.
Speaker 8 (33:10):
No, that I have more questions, trust me, on this break,
I have more questions. Don't you worry, Dan doug Let's
move on to the Chicago sky story that happened where
the players started tweeting out that they were targeted, that
there was an incident and that people can't do this,
and then a video came out.
Speaker 9 (33:29):
Did you see the video?
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (33:31):
And it was like one guy that.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Yes, I'm not sure you know what harassment is at all.
Somebody with a phone PMZ style asking you a question
is not the level of harass.
Speaker 8 (33:48):
And also like in today's day and age, when everybody
has their phone out to record anything, for you to
go out and say that you were harassed and that
people just stop monci, this is the problem.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
And I understand, like I fully respect what you're trying
to do and grow into sports, but like they these
women are such victims. They think that everybody is out
to get them and everybody has treated them wrong and
you know, you got Cameron Brink saying there's all this
privilege towards white players, which is just ridiculous. There's nothing
(34:23):
is logical. It's like they know all of these terms
right that have been told been told to them, they
just don't properly identify what they actually are and don't
understand that they're all privileged because they get to play
professional basketball for living, and they're privileged because of their
talent and their work ethic, and that's what got them there, period.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
But this like harassment, Like, dude.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
You go back a year ago and no one knew
who the hell you were, right, okay, and somebody asking
you whether or not you've contacted Caitlin Clark after Kennedy Carter's
hard foul is not actually people, that's actually people caring.
And what happens you get people like me to go, hey,
here's what we'll do. We'll go back to never caring
(35:08):
ever again. Goodbye.
Speaker 8 (35:09):
Yeah, that's what's crazy. It's like you have this opportunity
and you seem to keep spoiling it every single time
for various different reasons.
Speaker 9 (35:16):
But this was ridiculous.
Speaker 8 (35:17):
When I saw that, I was like, nobody got time
for this all right, A quick one, Doug. Okay, So,
Utah's a new hockey team has narrowed its nickname down
to six options. What they got Yetti, Blizzard, Outlaws, Venom, Mammoth,
Hockey Club.
Speaker 12 (35:30):
Which one do you like?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
The No Hockey Club, the Utah Mammoth.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
No.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I like the Yetti.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
And by the way, I was, I was just for
my friend Michael, he's the CEO of Yet, of YETI.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
I mean, that's an easy deal, christ As. But anyway, and.
Speaker 8 (35:43):
Then you can make a really cute like mascot.
Speaker 9 (35:45):
Okay, that's the press.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
I get out of there and pressed.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
That was the press.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
The mascot has to be cute. Okay.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Tonight we got Game one LINEUS six and a half.
I've told you, like the Mavericks. Tonight, like the Mavericks
in the series. Let's see how it plays out.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
All right.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Back tomorrow we'll recap Game one and maybe the Lakers
have a new head coach. In the meantime. Download the podcast.
