Welcome in, Welcome in. Uh, I've reached my point. You know,

(00:47):
every every person I know, we have a limit. Right.
There's a pain threshold, There's an annoyance threshold, there's a
sark casm threshold. There's a like do you remember Austin Powers.
You remember the movie the Austin Powers. I actually think

(01:09):
Austin Powers two one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Austin Powers one. It's a spoof on all the James
Bond films, and so to many people it's not as
humorous but if you are a James Bond film person,
you're like, oh, it's really really, really funny. But I
think it's in Austin Powers three where and maybe in
two as well, where he gets to the he makes

(01:29):
the the three funny quips and then okay, that's it.
We move on, right. Everybody has a limit. I've hit
my limit with with what we're doing with Caitlin Clark.
I've hit my limit completely and totally, you know, and

(01:51):
this is what we do. We kind of ruin everything,
you know. It's like in America, everywhere you go, every
small town in America now we do strip malls everywhere.
Like we went from these big gigantic malls in the
eighties and nineties and early two thousands to now everything
is strip mall. And maybe you used to like cute

(02:16):
Doba or Chipotle or Starbucks or whatever, but now they're
all in a row, and every town looks like the
next and there are no cute little downtowns with their
own cute little coffee shops. Right, everything gets bastardized for
a better term. And in stories now, especially sports stories,

(02:37):
but also media stories, but sports stories, everything becomes political
and racial and divisive. And I have had it, and
I think you have too. I think you have two.
We played this for you yesterday, and I'll fully admit
that Jim Trotter I would consider him a friend, but

(03:00):
I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for whatever he's
emotionally going through where something has happened over the past
five or so years where he's that everything is racist guy, Right,
And like, look, if you have friends who are of
a different ethnicity, you know that there's every there's a

(03:23):
person in every race who has that ability. And usually
we joke about it, right, we joke about if you
have black friends, if you're a white guy, there's always
the black friend that everything's racist. You have the Mexican friends,
everything's race. You have the white friend that you know
claims claims everything is racist. Again, there's always the one person.

(03:44):
If you have ten friends, there's the one that's like, dude,
that guy. Look, we have all kinds of different friends.
You have the drunk friend, you have the guy who's
the unlucky lover, you have the guy who's got the
bad dad bod at a young age, right, But there's
always that one guy that everything's racist. That's what Jim
Trotter's become. And I don't know what if you'd say
it's what's happened in the media or our treatment of

(04:06):
the media, or President Trump or the people that supported
President Trump, or the way in which some of the
news organizations. I mean, you could even go back to
when President Obama was in office, like some of that
stuff was just awful, right, I mean, I'll just be
honest with you, like, let's not pull punches. Donald Trump
lived on the lie that President Obama wasn't born in America.

(04:30):
It was awful. It's an awful lie. And what happened
there was there were people that felt everything became racially divisive.
And I'm not going to sit here and tell you
that racism doesn't exist, Okay, but everything in our country
that currently exists has existed for a long time, but
it becomes amplified by social media. It's so different. Then

(04:52):
then when there's white supremacists are marching, right, we make
it out to be this gigantic thing. It's gross, it's discussed,
but it's always been there, right, The Ku cuts Can
has marched in different parts of the country for one
hundred years, you know, and if they get their permit,
they're allowed to march, but it becomes amplified because of
social media. Same thing with the gay pride parades, right,

(05:18):
those have always existed. Those have existed, they're amplified because
of social media. But whatever has happened to a gentleman
like Jim Trotter, he was a gentleman. It's gross because
now everything is racism. And the perfect example of that
is what happened yesterday with Kaitlin Clark. So here's Jim

(05:41):
Trotter asking Caitlin Clark about what I believe are some
imaginary storylines that her name and her career is being
used to promote racism and misogyny. Take a listen.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I wonder from you a standpoint, how do you feel
about people using the young nar in whatever culture wars
or whatever wars they're fighting. How do you feel about it?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
It's not something I can control, so you know, I
don't put too much thought and time into thinking about
things like that, And to be honest, I don't see
a lot of.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
It, but I don't understand your focus.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
But I'm just curious, though, A pardon you, bob, because
folks would attempt to recognize your name and.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Whatever fight the fighters. No, I don't see it.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
That's not where my focus is. Again, my focus is
here and on basketball, and you know that's where it
needs to be, and that's where it has been. I'm
just trying to get better on a daily basis.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Jim. She doesn't want to talk about it, and you
know what, you have just as much right to speak
your mind as you do to not say anything at all.
I don't want to be political. I just want to
play basketball. I just want to play basketball. You're making
none of this fun. And look, I'm a defender of

(07:00):
of many of the tactics of these women as not
being racially based. But the more and more I see,
the more and more I read, the more and more
I hear, I realize that might not always be the case.
The point is that if you point out the thirty

(07:21):
greatest women's basketball players of all time, it's really divided
among racial lines. There's just as many good white women
as there are black women. And even recently, Sabrina Yescu
was popular, not to the level of Caitlin Clark, but
popular has their own shoe. It's actually, I believe, one

(07:43):
of the top selling, if not the top selling shoe
at Nike, but there is no Venom directed there, no
Venom directed at Kelsey Plum. Only Venom directed. They're both white.
Only Venom directed at Caitlin Clark. Why cause she's popular?
And this is what it really comes to down to. Okay,
life is a popularity contest and sometimes we don't know why.

(08:08):
You know, does her race play a factor? Maybe? But
again it's hard to make that correlation when Sabrina and
Kelsey Plum were just as successful just a couple of
years ago, and they're the same race. Does it have
to do with looks? I don't know, like Sabrina and
like they look kind of saying Kelsey Plum's pretty too,

(08:30):
Like they're all relatively attractive white women, and there's you know,
I don't know. Angel Reese is a beautiful young black woman,
Like I don't think it has to do with being pretty.
Does that have to do with location? Probably some? Does
that have to do with sexuality? Maybe? I think that
the only thing that separates her is she's crazy popular

(08:53):
and nobody likes you. And what happens when people don't
like you and you're immature or you've never faced any
sort of criticism before is you lash out and you
blame other people. You blame other people, and I again,

(09:13):
I would I would love for anyone to tell me
who are these imaginary people who are using Caitlin Clark's
name to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia and intersectionalities
of them all. That's, by the way, what de Johnny
Carrington posted on her social dejon eight whatever Carrington posted

(09:36):
on her social media dog how can you not be bothered?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Like?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
What am I bothered by? She said she just wants
to play basketball, She's not on social media. What are
you even talking about? I'm really struggling with this one
because it really really upsets me. There are zero negatives
to the Caitlin Clark story. None, none, none. She did

(10:05):
the John Cena you can't see me. The difference in
her doing it to Angel Reese. You here doing it
and then Angel Reese doing it in the next game
was Angel Reese did it to her face and taunted her.
We pointed this out where she just did it. But whatever,
like you, if you do the John Cena thing, then
they can do it to you. Fine, again, where is
racism in any of that? And it was a year ago.

(10:27):
Why are we ruining everything? And Jim Trotter, I point
I call you out. That is really crumbing. And by
the way, Steven A. Smith did the same thing today,
went on a big rant on first take, like, dude,
you are all a bunch of morons and you're making
things bad which are great. What's the negative to the

(10:49):
Caitlin Clark story. Somebody explained it to me. Somebody explained
to me. Was anybody else hurt during her rise? No?
Will everybody else potentis make a lot of money. Yes,
all you've wanted for the twenty six years of this
debucle of a business. Right if a business loses money

(11:10):
for twenty six consecutive years. And unlike the men's game,
unlike the NBA, the values of franchises haven't gone up instaid,
they've gone down or stayed relatively. Say, okay, all you've done,
all you've all you've done is complain about nobody pays

(11:31):
attention to us and we don't get the same sort
of treatment as everybody else, which again you actually do.
You just don't know who you are. This is what
I mean. They're busy comparing themselves to the NBA. They aren't.
It is a completely different scale. They don't compare themselves
to any other sport at their revenue level. If they did,

(11:54):
they were like, man, we're on ESPN and ABC. Why
is that. Well, because it's summer programming that they're jamming
in there, but it's just as I'm so disgusted by it.
And then Caitlin Clark, remember she said, Hey, I just

(12:15):
want to play basketball, and then Jim Trotter asked her
a second question. So double's down. So then before the game,
and this I called the WNBA on this one. She
answered the question. Then they put her out there and then
they're shooting around before the game, and there's no w
NBA or Indiana Fever pr person to simply say like, hey,
she answered the question. Man, take a listen to this

(12:35):
question where the reporter says, I know you just wanted
to keep it basketball, and I respect that, and then
he asks another question, which, by the way, means you
don't actually respect that. Take a listen.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
You mentioned that you know you want to poutrad on
basketball and definitely respect that. Win just asking directional people
use her name racist of masage or whatever. Yeah, I
think it's disappointing. I think, you know, everybody in our world,
you know, deserves them the same amount of respect. The
women in our league deserve the same amount of respect.
So people should not be using my name to put

(13:08):
those agendas, which is disappointing. You know, it's not acceptable.
But yeah, I mean, this league is the league I
grew up admiring and wanting to be a part of.
Like some of the women in this league were my
biggest idols and role models growing up and helped me
wanting to achieve this moment right here that I get
to plan every single night. So it's treating everything woman

(13:30):
this league with the same amount of respect. I think
it's just a basic human thing that everybody should do, like,
you know, just be a kind person and treat them,
you know, how you would want to be treated.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
And I think.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
It's just been a very simple.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Uh yeah, I mean it was a non answer answer.
But here's the thing. Can Jay Stuke, can you point
to any place where her name is being used to
promote racism and any of the other things that we're
being told it's being used for. I'm not aware that

(14:04):
that exists.

Speaker 7 (14:06):
Well, I mean, I don't know. I don't know if
it's fair to put me on the spot like that.
I can't speak for any Internet trolls. I can't speak
for what certain players get from losers online, but I
can say this that I would love for these reporters
before they assume that it's happening, or before they their
question insinuates that it's rampant and that it's all over

(14:28):
the place. I would love for the reporters that ask
these questions to give examples. What exactly are you referring to?
Just to use like these these terms, like your name
is an avatar for hate, your name is an avatar
for misogyny? How do you feel about that? Like there's
a certain like assumption in those questions that it's everywhere

(14:54):
and everyone knows about it, And that's what bothers me
about this. But I'm guessing and anything online could be
used into something racist and misogynistic. I'm guessing it happens
in the worst, deepest parts of Twitter. But I need
those examples, like, bring those examples to light. I would
like to see them.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Does does anybody know buyer? Do you know any of
these examples? Uh?

Speaker 4 (15:19):
No, not that, not that I can think of.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah, it's we're, we're, we're, we're doing this. We're doing
this at some point in time where none of it exists.
None of it exists, none of it, None of that exists.

Speaker 8 (15:36):
I'm not willing to say that.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, again, it doesn't exist in the reputable, mainstream world
of the media. It doesn't like again, that's the problem.
This is. This is an issue with social media where
we make people who just want to tweet stuff somehow
their opinions become valid and they're just not Again, I'm
not saying none of it exists, but it doesn't exist
on anything that matters, and continuing to badger her and

(16:01):
make her like take some sort of stand like what
are we doing what? We've completely lost sense. And I
don't know who the troll is with the second question,
but this is not okay for Jim Trotter, Like, dude,
you've been in this business a long time. She said,
I just want to keep it to basketball, and then
you're like that's not good enough, and then some other

(16:23):
stooley comes out there. It's just awful. We've ruined something
really cool, and every person I know that's in sports
business thinks leaving her off the Olympic team is among
the dumbest business decisions ever made. It is New Coke
level of idiocy. And if you don't know about New Coke,

(16:46):
just google it. You can see it's one of the
dumbest decisions in the history of business. It's having the
Chevy Nova in Mexico. So in Mexico Nova it means
no go. That's how dumb it is. But we we
just do this. We just ruined stuff. We bastardized things.

(17:08):
You know, I'm so irritated by because I love sports
and I like sports banter, but this is one to
which if you always retreat to the A's racist, everybody's
racist missogynists, Like, what, what in the actual heck is
going on? Here?

Speaker 9 (17:26):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
It's Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Mark
Dominic is our guests. He spent over twenty years in
NFL front offices and scouting, and he's a former gentlem
manager the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mark, thanks so much for
taking time with us. The Trevor Lawrence extension. What's your reaction.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
Yeah, look, I'm not surprised. You know, they've been talking
with Trevor Lawrence for a while. There's been a lot
of hope and optims is on both sides. So getting
the deal done is not as big surprise considering, you know,
Jackson's certainly gone in the right direction the last couple
of years. The numbers were well north of what I
thought they were going to be. You know, again, you're
trying to build out an entire football team. You certainly

(18:15):
want to take care of quarterback. I just didn't see
him coming in rights as high as he did. You know,
I know the quarterback market really never slows down. It
continues to grow. But I would have thought this would
have been more of a fifty fifty million a year,
forty five to fifty done to fifty five and setting,
you know, a tie with Joe Burrow. Considering, you know,
Trevor Lawrence has been good, but he's never been great.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
You know, he hasn't what what's been missing? And with
your scouting eye, with your gentlemen drug, what what's been missing?
Because there were expectations that he was as clean a
prospect as anybody since Andrew Luck. What's been missing.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
A stability is a part of it, you know, in
terms of changing offenses, what he went through with Coach
Meyer and that that situation, which was a wreck for
every buddy. I think that's a little piece of it.
But then I think it's also been just the fact
that he's been good. And I think they're buying Jackscell's
telling you, they're buying what they think is coming. So

(19:11):
they're buying the future, not the past, because you can't
put that number down for a quarterback when you look
at his statistics, but you also think of him. I
don't consider Trevor Lawrence's top ten quarterback, so you know,
why would he get paid to be, you know, paid
as the number one. It's a good job by his agent.
I'm not mad at Trevor Lawrence. I think the deal
could have got done for five million dollars less per year,

(19:32):
and I think they would have signed it either way.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
It's Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports for YOUO. Okay,
so what does this? I know they're different players, but
they're both quarterbacks and the state of Florida both starting
quarterbacks and both top five picks. What does this do
for Tua?

Speaker 5 (19:49):
I got to think it's got to set the floor.
I think it's got to be the two is going
to come in right around the same number. I've talked
to you before about the only thing you've got to
figure out how to protect yourself. One thing Trevor Lawrence
has been is a. The guy's been very very healthy
and very strong too. Obviously struggled with that, but certainly
went through it last year. You know, I don't know
if two is going to have to play this thing out.
I would think that this is just another boiler plate

(20:10):
to make sure that TUA gets done. I think two
it does get done before we get the camp, because
I think there's too many pieces of the puzzle already
solved in front of him from the negotiation standpoint, in
from a club's standpoint in terms of production and just ability.
So I think TWA gets done. But I think he's
going to be huddled right into this number, which again
I think was pushing the envelope, and quarterbacks continue to

(20:31):
push the envelope much faster than the salar cap has gone,
which is making it harder on clubs to build a
crow up correctly, and that's where just again I'm a
little surprised that Jacksonville went there. I would have been
happy to go there if I have seeing Turma Lawrence
play one more season and get the thirty touchdowns. But
right now is careerhis twenty five, you're banking on a

(20:52):
lot to make him the highest aid player. I just
feel like, even if the market's gone up, so I
just don't think that's the right amount you should be paying.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
You know, you talk about stability, there's no more stable
organization in the history of sports than the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They get Mike Tomlin an extension through two thousand and
twenty seven. Obviously famously he's never had a losing season,
But what do you think of their desire to extend
him to that length.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yeah, I know a lot of Steelers fans are like, well,
let's some championships going. But you know, Doug, I was
fortunate to be in Tampa staff in the pro department
when we hired coach Tomlin out of college ranks and
put him into our linebacker coach, and from that day forward,
there's been nothing but impressed him. The way he commands people,
commands a room, instant respect, you know, listening, but also

(21:42):
telling it like it is. He's a he's a unique
person for Steelers fans who might be like, why are
we doing this? The grass is not going to be dreamer.
I think he's in a great shape. I think he's
got the team in a really good spot this year.
I think Pittsburgh was a big bounce back teams possibly
of the twenty twenty four season off of everything. And
that's how hard division to come out of. I mean,

(22:02):
whoever wins, as you can imagine, the AFC North is
certainly going to be battle tested to be able to
take on the Buffalo Bill's team, the kids to the
Chiefs team because that division is loaded.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Yeah, it really, really really is is loaded. This is
the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Mark
Dominic is our guest, and of course he's the former
general manager of Tampay Buccaneers. Over twenty years plus in
NFL scouting in the front offices, and of course he
joins us weekly here on the Doug Oatlib Show on
Fox Sports Radio. This is the off season and we're

(22:37):
trying to figure out special teams because there's a new
you know, kickoff rule. But I'm wondering in terms of trends,
right Like, I kind of feel like the Vikings are
trying to trying to build their team the same way
the Niners built theirs, and that makes sense because you
know their general manager came from San Francisco. But is
there an emerging trend that you've seen this off season

(23:00):
in the NFL?

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Well, I guess, you know. I don't know if it's
a trend or anything, but certainly quarterbacks are getting pushed
faster and faster to starting jobs. I think that's kind
of what we've seen before. But the urgency to find one.
I mean, when we saw the six quarterbacks going the
top twelve, that just shows you again that the desperation
that this league is having a hard time finding thirty
two guys that can play at a high enough level
to keep coaches in front office people employed. And so

(23:25):
I think that trend is going to be that as
we battle through it, Sam Darnold's starter in Minnesota possibly
or bo Nix, what's going to happen there. But in
the end, I think these guys are going to be
starting and playing faster than you ideally would like to
based off of what their skill set was coming into
the National Football League. That's one little one. I think

(23:45):
another one that we're seeing that I've seen is because
of what you just talked about with the quarterback position.
In where we're going in terms of Trevor Lawrence getting
a new career high deal, You're going to continue to
find trends where the clubs are spending money. And I
think you're going to find it on the defensive side.
You're gonna find it in middle linebackers. You're gonna find
it at strong safeties. Those guys are going to continue

(24:06):
to lose market share every year. I think on the
offensive side, you're going to find it an offensive setting.
You find it a running back, and I think you're
gonna find it a wide receiver too. Are going to
be the spots where you're gonna have to find ways
to be able to afford it. If you get to
the quarterback and you're starting to pay in the forty
fifty million dollars range, you're gonna have to find spots
where you can't pay even if you like the player
you have. And I think that's the trends you're going

(24:26):
to continue to see go forward. I guess i'd think this.
You know, nine years ago, Aaron Rodgers was the highest
paid quarterback at twenty two million. Nine years later it's
fifty five million. I can't quite fathom what nine years
from now might look like, but it could be seventy
five to eighty million dollars a year.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
You mentioned Aaron Rodgers. It started with one unexcused absence.
Now he's not going to be at mini camp at all.
What do you think of how the Jets are handling this?

Speaker 5 (24:55):
Well, you know, I think a couple of things. Number One,
Allegedly Aaron went to the organization ahead of time and said, hey,
I'm not going to be there for veteran mini camp.
I think at that moment, based off of whatever Aaron
felt was more important and out of respect that he
had been there the entire off season, I think the
Jets PR staff and the media should have got in
front of this. I think it should have been one

(25:16):
of those things like, hey, we know, in three weeks
or two weeks or whatever it is, we have the
veteran mini camp. Our quarterback is not going to be there.
He's got a prior engagement that he let us know about.
And then I would say, Aaron, you're gonna have to
own it if it's that important. Now, if it's something
personal personal, like really, you know, something happens in your family,
something you need to go work on. In terms of internally, yeah,
that's that's been your business. But if it's something where
it's like, hey, look, I've always wanted to do this

(25:38):
or have an opportunity to do that. That's why I've
been here for every off season program to day. That's why, Hey,
you know, do I want to miss the veteran making
But I remember I have been here and been part
of it all the way through because it's been important
to me.

Speaker 10 (25:50):
I think this would have.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Dived down faster, and I think it would have been
just kind of one of those oh yeah he told
us about this, No big deal. He's been here, you know,
thirty eight other days, so what's three. More So, I
think that's where the mistake was made. And I think
Aaron had to take some ownership into it too. It
shouldn't just be co solid out there trying to dodge
bullets all the time, you know, the quarterbacks, someone that
wanted to make this decision. It's perfectly fine, but at
least like he didn't have to answer. Now, you know,

(26:12):
we'll find out where Aaron has been, but in July
or in August, I doubt we'll be talking about it.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Then. Yeah, I look, I understand all of that. I
just and some of its optics. Some its optics. But
let's not act like you're coming off of some incredible
season or you've been there. You know, like if you've
been to Green Bay, you've been a green Bay for
fifteen years and you want to take a week off. Fine.
The juxtaposition of last year where he's about everything about
New York and about the Jets, then he gets hurt

(26:42):
and it's all about coming back, and now you know,
there are some pieces are the same, many are different.
I just I don't know. Maybe it's optics, but it
looks it looks a little awkward considering how he purpored
himself last season when he wanted to make a good
impress none of as new teammates another Doug, I don't disagree.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
That's why I think they should have been more in
front of it instead of it just kind of coming
out of bluid. Aaron's out there. I think that's a
bad look to read across the board. You know, Jets
fans are always nervously optimistic and obviously realistically waiting for
the worst thing to happen at every moment, right, And
so here's another situation where it could have been diverted
or at least handled better, so optically it wouldn't have
the same taste it has right now.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Mark Domini's our guest here on the Doug Gottlieb Show
on Fox Sports Radio. You know, I I'm fascinated by
the Raiders and the constant switching of general managers. And
Tom tellsco is a friend, but he comes from the Chargers.
And when you're changing management constantly, it's really hard to

(27:47):
figure out. It's like it's like if somebody goes in
and redes the house and then the project doesn't get
finished in the next person, next contractor picks up, the
next contract picks it up. Where are the Oakland Raiders
in this whole discussion.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
Yeah, it's a certainly a different spot. It's certainly unique
to have not only a GM leave and get let
go and have a job the same year or the
next year, but then also within the division and really
no real relationship with coach Pearce, which is kind of
even more bizarre, But that's where they stand and that's
where they land now. I think that they try they're
trying to heads their bet a little bit with Carderman

(28:23):
Shoot in terms of getting the veteran in there in
case Aid and O'Connell can't play through this. I think
aide O'Connell will be the starter week one. Uh, you know,
a lot of opportunity there for Aiden, but also a
lot of you know, the stress and pressure. He's not
aide O'Connell, I think is a very cerebral, very smart,
and he's very accurate quarterback, but he's not over the athletics.

(28:44):
So the offensive line is going to have to step
up for him to allow him to have a little
bit of extra time to be able to find Devonte
Jacoby or Trey Tucker. But certainly with the tight Endrium
as well. There's a lot of talent there's and mere
White is going to be in good shape. So it's
really that's why I think they took Jackson Powers Johnson
in the second round to continue to build this offensive
line to make sure that their quarterback can stay on
the football field. That took PJ. Glais in the third

(29:05):
round right the tackle, so they understand that they've got
to get the offensive line in position. I think Aidan
O'Connell is the starter, and I think he could possibly
hold onto the job and kind of be one of
those surprise guys because of the way he plays. It's
a little Tony Romo esque with a little more size,
but you know, that's the kind of the way I
seem like being that kind of a quarterback, and you know,
they could only hope that he has that kind of production.

(29:27):
I think the Raiders, you know, sadly, I think they're
they're in third place, and I think they're going to
be firmly in third place. I think the Chargers are
going to give the Chiefs and run for their money.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Mark, have yourself a great weekend. I cannot wait to
continue to talk more and more about these NFL teams.
When people start reporting, we get closer and closer to camp.
Thanks as much for our guest than the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
Gleig, thanks for having me on. Happy Fathers this day weekend,
and enjoy your weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
But same to you. That's Mark Dominic joins us. Of course,
he spent over twenty years got it former gentlemen of
the Tampay Buccaneers. Buyer, You're you're not yet there where
Rody knows about Father's Day? Right obviously, Jason, is you
guys big big Father's Day plans.

Speaker 10 (30:14):
I'm gonna be watching the fun around of the US
Open probably, So do you do.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
One of these things where were like, Hey, this is
my you know, I love this sport, this is my domain.
You guys can go and my Father's Day gift is
like I want to play golf and watch golf and
nobody bothered me, or like, what is the what is
the parameters?

Speaker 10 (30:31):
You said, Well, you know, before Brody came along, we
would go to the US Open.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
Remember we were up at Pedal Beach, So for years
I actually.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Wing foot what's the one on we went to Shinnecock.

Speaker 10 (30:43):
Yes, yes, so I covered about gosh six or seven
of them, you know, for for a while. And last
year was at La Country Club when we were there
as well. So the point being is pre child, my
life was always taken up by the US Open.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
So it just kind of continues that way.

Speaker 10 (31:01):
We'll do something tomorrow and then yeah, I'll host the
show on Sunday and hang out with Brody, but nothing
too major.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Jase do.

Speaker 7 (31:10):
Father's day plans. My son's coming over. Uh, we're gonna
hang out and we're gonna practice poker. I taught my
son how to play poker, and he has gotten to
the point where he won his local poker league and
he won a voucher into the World Series of Poker.
He's going to play in the World Series of Poker
in ten days, and we're gonna practice for it.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
That's awesome.

Speaker 8 (31:34):
Oh, it's amazing.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
You guys do conditioning drills. I mean, there's like seventeens
of their suicide drills that you have to do. I mean,
how do you practice for the World Series of Poker.

Speaker 7 (31:44):
I don't know what I've been doing with him since
he was young. I just give him a whole bunch
of scenarios and he reacts to it, and I coach him.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
It's interesting. You did a good job of coaching him
and teaching him how to play poker. You did a
terrible job on teaching me how to play craps. Not
only did we lose like eight dollars collectively, but I
have no idea how to play craps.

Speaker 7 (32:04):
And here's the difference. And I know anyone listening in
Vegas right now, including our friend Bernie Frattle, will tell
you craps is a house game. It's gambling. I think
house has a fifty three percent chancel. Winning poker is
a skill game. You could outskill people on poker. That's
the difference.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Whatever helps you sleep at night knowing that you lost
collectively a good amount of money for both of us.
This is Doug Gotlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio, coming
live from the tyreq dot com studios. But do you
got DIBs on next year's NBA title? That's next?

Speaker 9 (32:37):
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. One of my favorite
games on Earth. Let's play it.

Speaker 9 (32:53):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Shows.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Dan Buyer, what's the game today, Doug?

Speaker 4 (33:05):
The game today is.

Speaker 9 (33:08):
I got DIBs?

Speaker 8 (33:09):
All right?

Speaker 10 (33:09):
Here are the topics and we just try to get
DIBs on four of them today. Topic number one, gentlemen,
get ready your pick to win the NBA title next season?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Go?

Speaker 7 (33:24):
I got divs on my nuggets that are my Nuggets.
They're not a show of me team. They're not a
look at me team. They're just a great team to watch.
And uh, the Jokers my favorite player of all time.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
I got DIBs in Oklahoma City.

Speaker 10 (33:36):
Oh okay, okay, I see uh.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
What, I see what it would I thought, there's some
serious sarcasm. They're really good and they're going to get better.

Speaker 10 (33:48):
I know, I know, just the the Oklahoma part of you,
you know.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Oh yeah, I mean I guess I thought they were
really good.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
I mean, go ahead, seed right, yeah, yeah, I have
no problem with that.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (34:02):
I got DIBs on the timber Wolves turning things around,
carrying that momentum.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
Give me the t Wolves.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
I got DIBs on the Mavericks.

Speaker 10 (34:13):
Of the Mavericks, Sam, do you want any DIBs on
any of these teams? It is not Sam doesn't want
any DIBs. I gotta to the Celtics.

Speaker 8 (34:22):
Could I have a bone to pick in this segment?

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Sure, okay, whatever you want.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
I thought.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
No, the I think the MAVs are going to be
like their Dirk Nowitzki MAVs or this is the one
time dealing. They're just going to go away for the
next ten to fifteen years.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Really okay, I mean listen, I have that fear about
a lot of teams. All right, Okay, so I got
DIBs on the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Wow, you got DIBs on a lot of teams.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Well, I mean, like you told me last time, You're like,
there's no limit to how many DIBs you can get.

Speaker 10 (34:48):
I actually thought I did put a limit. Jason, do
you remember yeah he said one dips. Yes, I think
implies once. Oh yeah, okay, you can't have dimson shotgun
back seat.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
You're right, But for whatever reason, I remember you saying
you could have multiple DIBs. Well, you can multiple dips.
Maybe maybe one.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
Sam's done in today? Will you know we can?

Speaker 8 (35:09):
I'm here. Did someone say DIBs on the te Wolves?

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Yes? I did.

Speaker 7 (35:14):
So if you want multiple something, you should get nibs.
The Twizzlers, liquors, cherry nips, you can get plenty of those.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
All right, Moving on the guys. Ever did ice cream?

Speaker 6 (35:26):
I think we've talked about this like three times before.
I'm guessing always on Friday. Probably it's good, all right?

Speaker 10 (35:37):
Topic number two, favorite one off sporting event that you love. Oh,
I got DIBs on the Lacrosse Championship game that always
falls on Memorial Day.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
I've I've always loved that for.

Speaker 10 (35:55):
Some reason, and it was I don't even remember who
was in it this year, but when we were in
for Doug Gottlieb, we made sure to have the Lacrosse
Championship game on the TV.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I got DIBs on the Women's Softball World Series. I
have no desire to watch any other softball, but for
whatever reason, every year it gets me. Every year I
get sucked in.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
I watch it.

Speaker 10 (36:19):
Okay, so one off, yes, you don't follow it, but
all of a sudden, like this event shows up and
you're like, all right watching.

Speaker 8 (36:26):
I got DIBs on the Masters.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
Oh okay, not that.

Speaker 8 (36:31):
Can I take DIBs on the Rose Bowl?

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Yeah? Yeah, but you watch you watch college football? Yeah
not really.

Speaker 10 (36:39):
I was going to say that Kentucky Derby is. But
our Breeders' Cup experience has opened my eyes a little
bit more to the to the Ponies. So all right, Uh, finally, guys,
because it's Flag Day, favorite country flag design obviously flag
Day in the States here, But is there a flag

(37:01):
that you just that you are a big fan of
when it comes to countries. I got DIBs on Norway,
not only because I'm Norwegian, but it's the red, it's
the the white and the blue, it's it all works
works well for me.

Speaker 7 (37:17):
I like the old Union jack for those uneducated. That's
great Britain's flag.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
Sure, I guess I must be an educated. I know
that I learned. I learned something new today.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
I got DIBs on Brazil's flag. I like the color scheme,
like the little globe in the middle.

Speaker 9 (37:37):
You're out of Toza, yours next week here now.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
I like O GLORI. I'm sorry. Maybe I'm the only true, true,
true American in this group. Uh damage control with Luca.
