(00:43):
Nick Cope with the updates and all the games. Jay
stew who uh, how was it interesting text you sent
the other day about the comparison with your ex girlfriend
and Drake's baby mama. I know you hate this term.
Did not have that in the Bago card. I looked
at my phone. I was like, that was left field
(01:05):
coming up and my guy, Iowa, Sam, who's got to
be fired up at the w NBA Skills Competition. Have
you put down money on Caitlin Clark to win the
skills competition?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
No, she's not in it. She got she got left
out again. Yeah, she got left out of the Olympics
and then now this.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
No, no, no, no, Hold on a second. You know it's been
reported that she turned down the invitation to do the
three point content. Okay, I'm hoping we could talk about
that with coach Dockets, who's on hold right now.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's that's that's a producer's way of going, like stop
stalling and get to the guests, because the guest is
better than you. It's Doug Gotlieb Show here on Fox
Sports Trade. We talked about a lot of things. Let's
talk some hoop. My guy Dan Dockets. Of course, he
was a head coach in college at Bowling Green at Indiana,
longtime assistant hell of a player at Indiana as well,
and then a long time basketball analyst and has his
(01:55):
own show on OutKick called Don't at Me, Don't at Me.
Let's start with Bronnie James. Now he's head back to
back solid games. What as from a guy who recruited
a guy who analyzed, and now a guy who talks
about it for a living. What do you think of
Bronnie James the prospect?
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Thanks for having me on, Doug. You know more about
him than I do. But I would say this, You know,
you you're the head coach. Now you're gonna have to
go evaluate. You're gonna have to figure out who is
good enough to win you championships, to win you league titles,
that kind of thing, and that's part of being a coach.
And I didn't see him in high school. I certainly
(02:36):
didn't watch him in the McDonald's game that kind of thing.
And when I watched him, it's pretty simple to me.
He's not an NBA player. He's probably a very good
Mac player, maybe maybe a you know player on a
decent Power five team. But that's what I've seen. A
rooting for him. I want him to do well. I
(02:57):
kind of like him. I don't know him. I kind
of like you story. I think lebron James said it.
You know, well, the kid could have done a lot
of things, but he wants to bust it being the
public guy. But when I watched him, I I just
simply don't think he's an NBA I think he's gonna be.
I think I don't know how you feel about this,
but I think this is all set up for him
to play on the court with his dad. I can't
(03:19):
see the Lakers drafting him, signing his dad to a
big deal, and you know, letting this thing go with
just a G League season long appearance. But I just
don't think he's an NBA player. I think, you know, I.
You know, we had a couple of guards on our
team at Bowling Green when we were good. One played
in the NBA for nine years. He's not as nearly
as good as you know, Keith McLeod or some others,
(03:41):
but you know he's he's going to be in the NBA.
I don't think there's any question about that.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I agree with you, Jennal Sudden, I you know, I
I just I think it's it's more than a little
selfish of Lebron. I get it. You know, you want
to do something really cool and never been done. You
play this long in the NBA. You want to play
with your kid. But man, he could have had a
really good college career and could have grown, and I
don't know if he still would have been an NBA player.
(04:07):
On his own, but I think he could have had
something special, especially you play for you know, your dad's
best one of your dad's best friends of Dukane, Like,
I just didn't understand the rust. Yeah, other than to
play with his dad, which is obviously going to happen.
Let's get to USA basketball. What's your assessment of what
they put together?
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Well, I'd be surprised if somebody's gonna play him close, probably,
but there's just too much there. And you know what
I like about it. I think there's differences. I think
there's guys that are trying to prove Like when you
go back and it was a really good team with
Marberry and Iver sending those guys back in the day,
and they were still trying to prove themselves, you know,
as people, you know, and this is just adults. These
(04:49):
are adults. These are guys that are above nonsense on
the USA team. And that's kind of how I look
at it. I think there's always guys trying to prove themselves,
guys that are unsure, and then there's a level above
all of that. And that's what he got on this team.
And you know, I was watching him play against the
OO kids, the other day, and I understand it's a
friendly whatever you want to call it. And they just said,
(05:11):
screw this, We're gonna go win. And that's just what
I see. I don't think that, you know, look, somebody
will play him well. They will not lose a game.
In my opinion, their average margin of victory will be
in the twenties. I just think they got adults. And
I think, you know, even I understand this conversation about
Jalen Brown and certainly credential wise, Jalen Brown suld being
(05:32):
an Olympic team, but they went and got an adult.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
They got, you know, said I've said that. It's like, listen,
it's not that Jalen Brown, stop bright. It's not that
he you know, he doesn't have any issues. But Jalen
Brown's got a lot of interests. And yeah, like look,
you know, does he one does he want to be
the twelfth guy?
Speaker 4 (05:52):
You know?
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Is he okay with being a twelfth guy? And can
he get along the people? And does he Is he
just there because he wants to win a gold medal?
Or is he there because you want to make a
political statement? And like people can look at this as
anti side, it's not I don't think they want anybody
making a political statement. I just think they want guys
who want to go play basketball when games and and
make money off of the endorsement deals that follow.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
I agree, and and when I again, you know, guys
grow up, and you know, Doug, you've seen this more
than I've seen it. I mean, guys get in the
league and you know, they go through maybe they become
stars early, and then they got a decision to make.
I'm gonna keep working on my game. Am I going
to continue to progress through USA Basketball? And these are
all guys that have and you know, what are you
(06:34):
gonna do? You think you're gonna shake shake up Lebron
James or Kevin Durant or Steph Curry. And then you
had guys on the a little bit younger, maybe Halliburton,
but you know, Derek White comes in and man, I
think I don't know if we talked about this, but
when I went to the two games here in Indianapolis,
the Celtics burst the Pacers, and I sat pretty close.
I was I was just shocked at how smart Derek
(06:58):
White is. I was shocked at shocked at how smart
Horford was, or how good Tatum or Brown were, you know,
but Derek White was like, jeez, does he make all
the plays? And you know you mentioned something that I
go back this a long time ago, but when the
Olympic team used to be picked, and in eighty four,
long again, long time ago, Bob Knight had all the
(07:20):
guys Jordan and Ewing and they were all in college.
And I remember going to those trials and I remember
having a pretty good handle on who coach I was
going to pick, simply because who was going to be
coachable and who wasn't going to be coachable, who was
going to fit certain roles and who wasn't. Uh, And
it's kind of the same thing here. Again. This is
just I don't know how you feel. I'll ask you,
do you think they're going to have a You think
(07:41):
they'll lose a game? Do you think they'll I don't.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
I don't. I think they'll have a couple of close games.
I actually think I think I think they're playing the
long game with Embiid too. I think Embiad's gonna be
important because he's the only like kind of traditional center.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
It's a lot more physical game. Oh yeah, and so
I actually I like that they're playing em bead a
ton even though he's not playing well, he's clearly it
feels like again it's a basketball since since he got
hurt in the playoffs. But yeah, I think they'll win,
but I definitely think they'll be challenged.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah, I think they'll be a couple of close games.
But again, you know, one thing that every guy that
you know, I've ever talked to that's played in the
Olympics Winter, it's been as a swimmer, track and field
team handball, They're like, man, you know, you gotta be
tough enough to overcome the pressure. Because everybody talks about well,
(08:29):
it's great, I'm wearing Team USA on my jersey. It's
a lifetime dream. Well that is, but there's also, you know,
a lot of pressure when things get tight. I just
don't see any of these guys, or this particular group.
Maybe one or two guys having a bad night, but
I just don't see this this group faltering close game. Sure,
there's a lot of good players in this world and
(08:51):
a lot of gotten great NBA experience, big time environments,
but I just don't see there being They'll be challenged
once or twice, but I'll be about it.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
And Clark obviously plays the Fever. Dan Docketts is our
guests here on the Doug Outlet Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Dan of course played Indiana, longtime radio host in Indiana
and in Indianapolis, and of course also has Don't at Me,
which is of course the streaming show you can watch
daily on OutKick. So what's changed with the Fever? Because
you know, she had a high turnover rate to start
(09:22):
the season, she's turned over less, but they're also winning
a lot more. What what changed with this team?
Speaker 4 (09:28):
You know, Doug, I went on Friday Night a week
ago and it was really interesting. They got up thirty.
Here's what changed for the good and here's what's not changed,
and it's bad. They get up thirty and you know,
Prosy's not playing, Grinder gets hurt in the middle of
the game, and they go up and Caitlin Clark's best
player on the court. It's not close. I mean, she's
(09:50):
kind of like you. She looks for others first, but
then she can go get twenty, you know, and bang
in a bunch of three. So she's not like you.
No offense, no, we are who we are, but always
others first. And they get up and then and they're
playing great and everybody's together, and I mean, she's dropping
it off to Boston and others. And then here comes
(10:13):
I forget the team's name of the Arizona Mercury. Fo Yeah,
the Mercury. And honest to god, Kayln Clark looked like
a twenty two year old young lady. She did not
look like a stud athlete. She was sulking, she was
bitching at the ref, she was bitching at her coach,
she was bitching at her teammates, and not in a
good way. And it was fascinating. It was kind of
the reason I like Kayln Clark, because she got an edge,
got an attitude. But we saw it. And my two
(10:37):
buddies in my book played in college and they were
sitting there behind the bench and my wife, whose coach,
were all like, man, we saw just greatness and now
we've seen crap. It was awesome. The greatness was the
team totally accepts that she is in you. That was
not happening early. There was a little bit of a battle.
(10:57):
Mitchell and Wheeler, these young point guards that have been
very good or good in the league, they're battling and everybody.
Now I think you can feel a level of respect,
you can feel a level of Okay, she is it,
but I'm telling you, and it was fascinating as soon
as it went sout. I mean all of a sudden,
literally a thirty point lead became a four point lead.
(11:18):
Man oh man. It was like five people on that
court and she couldn't get it together yet. It was
just fascinating. But the team knows how to play with her.
The respect her. There's no issue on who the person is,
who the guy is. But they got a long way
to go because you know, she's a rookie twenty years old,
twenty two years old, with all this heat on her
trying to lead, and when it goes bad, they're not great.
(11:40):
She's not great yet at bringing it all back.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Can you believe she's on the Olympic team.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
I don't know the league well enough. I got two
thoughts that, yeah, the interest would be there, but I
also think you know, they just signed a two point
two billion dollars deal. They're trying to grow the whole league.
If you have Caitlin Clark on there, the whole focuses her,
and maybe by the whole focus being on her for
the last year, or so maybe now I don't know.
(12:09):
Maybe without her there, the focus goes to others and
it lifts the league. I was asking Lynn Dunn, the GM.
She was on my show today that same thing, and
she kind of agreed with me. But you know, you
can't come out as the general manager of an Indiana
fever and say, you know, Caitlin Clark shouldn't be on
the Olympic team. That's crazy. Yeah, I do. I think
(12:29):
it's a player. I tell you this, shes a lot
better in person than she is on TV. I really
believe she's a lot better, Like just the speed, quickness,
being able to change direction, shot looks a lot easier.
I think you mentioned this. When she first came in
the leave she had a little bit of a was
it LaMelo Lorenzo ball kind of a thing.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Over the left head.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Yeah yeah, but when you're there in person, it's not
so dramatic. Where does that sounds? And she just looked,
you know, she looked like better. Yeah, if she was
on the Olympic team would be great for everybody, but
probably for her. You know, she'd been under a hell
of a lot of heat over the last one year
and a half. That's probably good that she's not.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Daniel the best man. UH look forward to catch having person.
Thanks for our guest, Thank you, my friend.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Doug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. All Right, So I
ask you a question here.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
I saw this.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
According to The Daily Mail, the WNBA's three point contest
Overall Star Weekend is going to take place without Caitlin
Clark and uh Sabrina Enescu. Uh, but not because they
weren't invited. The w NBA has confirmed to The Daily
Mail that both were offered imitations and they said they
(13:59):
didn't want to go. Now, Kayln Clark hasn't shot the
ball well percentage wise from three right like that one.
I can doesn't necessarily billing in and Sabrina remember shot
against Steph Curry in them in the NBA All Star
Weekend festivities. It was just a made for TV. She
wasn't tfically in a contest. But I kind of get it.
(14:23):
I kind of get it, and I honestly think like
turning it down is a It's kind of a good
thing for Caitlyn Clark, especially if she would say out loud, Hey,
I haven't actually shot the ball that well, So yeah,
I'm okay not being left off it. And for Sabrina,
I don't want to say she's advanced past it, but
(14:44):
she's kind of advanced past it. Sam, are you just
bummed by this? Do you want to see her compete
and win in everything and then just and then just
we're like go like almost Kenny Powers and like rip
off her jersey and have like a USA jersey underneathing
for Team USA not inviting her?
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Sure all that. No, I'm curious, like why did she
turn down because she's not been shooting well from three lately?
Is it because of is it because is she trying
to punish some group or some individual for not making
the Olympic team. Nobody knows. We haven't found out that
one's weird. I'm just wondering, Like, and.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
It's like you're getting shots up. It's not like you're
not like you're.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Right nor I know. And it's funny like their last
game she was ten and nineteen from the floor, but
like two of eight or two of nine from three,
so she'll have games where she's over fifty percent shooting
from three, But I still want to know the reason
for that. Oh oh, Nick Cope has something here. Uh no, no,
so here's the dope. So my bad.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
I think the aspect to this is, and this is
what I've read in the commentary. Right for those out
there who had the energy of USA basketball is missing
out on a major opportunity to advance the women's game,
and by leaving her off of the roster, should you
not have the same energy towards Caitlin Karkare for missing
(15:59):
the three point content test in bringing Oz to this
stupid skills competition in the All Star Game.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
No, I don't think so. As you said, she's still
gonna play. She in the Ulstar Game. Yes, oh yeah, okay,
so when she's still there. I mean, it's just I
don't know why she hasn't done it. I would love
for her to say I haven't done it because I
didn't shoot the ball that well and I don't necessarily know.
I I really, I really belong.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
But we made this argument earlier this week, or maybe
it was the last week, that Shoho Tani should be
compelled to be in the home run derby, so should
Aaron Judge. We've also said over the years that why
isn't Lebron in the dunk context, that the league should
compel their stars to do these little side shows.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yes, but wait, hold on, hold a second. Sho Hao
Tani led the National League at home runs correct? Correct?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
I think? So?
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Okay? Like like again, I don't know if you we
kind of buried the lead there. She has a shot
the ball well from three this year. She's not a
She's a hey, high volume, but not a high percentage
three point shooter. She's not there yet. So but Doug,
she won't have a defender in her face. Maybe that's
why her her percentage just slipped this year. Stop, well, okay,
(17:16):
but she's just shooting from the line, going from from
the station station stop.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
She did that at Iowa she was great. Stop what stop? What?
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Just just stop making excuses. She ends out the bow
wel she ends out the bowl period, just.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Like a little skills competition.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
It's I don't know why she has done I mean, honestly,
I think there's a didn't didn't one of them missed
like one of the the introduction thing yesterday because she
was at the she was at the NBA Summer League, right,
it was Angel Reese. I think Angel Reese missed last night.
They had some festivities last night and she missed it
(17:50):
for summer League, which I actually like. Look, I think
the one thing that the women are doing that's smart
is they're getting all dressed up. It's okay to be
a beautiful woman and be a good basketball player. Like
it's okay, And it's okay as a fan to watch
(18:12):
because a beautiful woman is a good basketball player. Like,
that's okay, right, Like everyone knows the line. I think
most of us know the line, and a lot of
you don't cross that line. It's not like they're on OnlyFans.
Although that's coming, isn't it. At some point there's going
to be at some point that's coming, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Probably, But they're not and they're not playing the games
in their pregame wardrobe. They go out there and they're
all wearing jerseys and sweating, you know, all as one.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
No, but they're getting they're getting made up, but making
making a point and then and then making appearances at
other places where I don't remember that happening previously. I
just don't so kind of interesting. I'm okay with it
not doing three point contests because she hadn't shot three
that well even in college. This year's percentage wise was
(19:04):
down from how it had been so if. But but
the not telling us for Sabrina that one's weird. My
guess is she's like, I already did the three point
thing with Steph, Like I don't even do that again,
Like you don't want to just got fire off like
five hundred threes, Like I don't know. By the way,
I'm really happy that I'm not in Missouri because people
(19:24):
in Missouri there are persentage of people that say Missoura yes,
which I've never understood.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Understood, uh, Missoura.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
We we are. We're kind of breathing out people that
say Missouri Washington, Yep, that's Washington, Washington, also going I've.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
Also heard of Colorado orbon Auburn or they put the
R on the other side of the B.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
That one ever heard.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
I like Missouri, Missouri. I like missoo, Miszura, Misura.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
I have a my college roommate shout out, shout out
out to suit. He's the head coach at his alma Modo,
which is in Oklahoma. It's spelled like Miami. It's pronounced Miama. Oh,
I don't know, Miamo Mioma.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
Kind of going back to Gonzaga, Gonzaga.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, but there's no way, I don't there's no way
that's Missouri or gonzag or Miama. It just isn't like
that doesn't make any sense phonetically at all.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Baseball's back today, Doug. Dbacks are out in front of
the Cubs five to one, seventh inning. Most of the
games coming up later on. Clayton Kershaw is going to
make a rehab start at Triple A Oklahoma City, potentially
his final rehab start before he rejoins the Dodgers and finally.
ESPN reports Utah State football coach Blake Anderson was fired
because he attempted to personally investigate the circumstances surrounding a
(20:50):
player's domestic violence arrest. They made his firing official earlier today. Doug,
back to you, Yeah, they fired.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Jerry Boby too, is the Associa athletic director, suing as well.
That thing is going to get really ugly before it
gets uh, before it gets gets gets cleared up and
full discolous. Jerry's a good friend of mine, and I
don't believe Jerry did anything wrong. He did everything he
was supposed to do in terms of the chain of
command and whatever. But we'll see stuck got leap show
(21:20):
on Fox Sports Radio. Did I don't know how many
you pay attention to the convention last night, the Republican
National Convention. But apparently there is a new Packer fan
among us.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Green Bay is gonna have a good team this year, right.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
They're gonna have a good team.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I mean that that is the most pandering thing ever.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
I kind of ruined the bit though. The bit that
I had prepared for the show was that Trump is
a Phoenix fan. How do we know that he was
referring to the Packers?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Oh green Bay? Oh you did set it up nice.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
The name of the segment is an unlikely Green Bay
Phoenix fan.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
Green Bay's gonna have a good team this year.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
I I agree, we're gonna have can we We're gonna
have to use that.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah, No, that's gonna be a drop forever.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Up until November and then we got to stop.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Why do it to stop?
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I don't know the first year coach. We know you might,
I don't know you might. You're rebuilding right, you've said
that what is a good team winning record? Is that
what you about? Yeah? For the Phoenix, what are you
hoping for?
Speaker 1 (22:24):
That's a good question with crapshoot, right, I don't think
it's crap like I kind of got I'll know when
I see it.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Packers, we know that they're probably gonna be pretty good.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
That but that that did, that does feel like, uh.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
It's a good bit by Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Sorry, Sorry, Jade, I screwed that up. Do you want
do you want to start again? Do you want to
start again? We get started again? Is there an open
to this?
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Let's let's sorry again, Let's do it again. Hey, Doug
the I don't know if you watched the convention last night.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
But I didn't. I was I was doing doing all
kinds of coaches stuff.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Well, it had a kind of a sports field. They
brought Hulk Hogan on sports entertainment. Uh, he was a
big hit. And then Dana White introduced Trump, so a
lot of sports and then I had no idea. You
never told me this. Trump is a huge US A
Phoenix fan, huge.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Green Bay is gonna have a good team this year, Right,
They're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
A good team. That's talking about Aramiah Johnson and Foster
Wonders and and uh Preston Rueiger, Anthony Roy and Isaiah Miranda.
I I you know, he he popped into practice the
other day and I said hi to you know, I've
not done the tape on the ear thing. That's weird.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Trump jumped he stopped by Phoenix practice or the packers.
I don't know, Okay, I really don't know.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
It's they call it secret service for a reason.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Secret.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Did you see any Hulk Hogan or no down in Milwaukee? Yeah,
I know, I mean did you watch that though? Did
you see those speeches?
Speaker 1 (24:00):
I mean, little little social media I saw? Was it
a wink from from from Trump to the hul Hulkster
talk about a guy who's lived like those two guys
have lived like fifty lives, fifty lives from being each
on one of our favorite childhood movies, you know, and
obviously we were a whole co maniacs. Then Hulk did
(24:22):
the did the heel turn?
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Right?
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Then he was a bad guy. He was Hollywood Hogan
for a while, and he had like the colored in
black Beard. Do you guys remember that.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Yeah, he's like a black and white motif.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Yes, and then he flipped it. So it's a long life.
I think that's that's what it is, a long life,
long life.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
He was pretty good, like even if you you know,
you're not a fan of whatever you're watching, Like, he
was clear and he had had a lot of good energy.
He's in his seventies now, isn't he.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Here's what I don't I don't get he's got to
be in his seventies. Here's what I don't get. I
don't get the like, yeah, you're clearly in a pretty
good place right now. So you march some people up
there that said things that are blatantly not true. You're
just like, whoa. And it's it like it just gets
(25:06):
to the point you're like, hey, wait, do we have
to do that.
Speaker 8 (25:09):
We're we're leading, we're winning, we're winning. The other guy
not good, not good at all. And then you had
was it what's your name? Gilfoyle?
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Up there?
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Boys? So she shouts every at every convention. So she
does shouts speech.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
She does. She's like, they don't even recognize I was saying,
she said, don't recognize. It was like you, no, there's
no way from your childhood that recognizes you. Because that
there's that is not genuine GM parts, no question, but
there was a lot there was like again, I don't
understand that honestly, last night I did. I watched more
than lettin on last night. Was one of those things
like all you gotta do is kind of run out
(25:50):
the clock, just run offense and you know they're just
shooting threes and trying to get go go for kill
shots and it's not needed. I guess that that was
the thing.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
It's like the I think everybody agreed that him summarizing
his own experience on stage and getting shot at was
very compelling. Yes, every there was. It was you could
hear a drop on the room. I was glued to
my TV. Yes, and then he just starts to go
into his typical nonsense that people can't stand it. But
that I think that's the it. That is the argument.
(26:23):
I think those rallies or the convention is very much
plain to people that are already going to vote for him.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
So why do that? Yeah, yeah, the guy from Palising,
Palising uh is a Palestine uh Ohio. So yeah they
didn't even come like yeah, actually they actually did bi
It actually called you right after that, Right, what's the
point you're winning. They're winning. They don't give style points.
(26:51):
You don't have to. You don't have to deliver extra
lies just to make sure like all of those people
in that room were voting for you regardless. Also, it's
like p one listeners, right, like I got We're good.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
He I tried to watch his entire speech. I turned off.
He talked for like over nine so.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
He kind of went Obama on us, only he went
like Obama would like lecture. He was very boring and
very long. He just kind of went into his Trump thing.
You're just like, well boy, he started with the and
now we're like on the brink of World War three,
Like wait what?
Speaker 2 (27:20):
And then he yeah, he did. Eventually he just kind
of say and then went like we're in the World
war like, dude, we're good. We you're good. Great can
spelling speech? End it?
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Okay, kiss babies, shake hands, do the hero thing, and
get out, do the Elvis thing. Trump was up the building.
That was a weird one for me. I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
It was a long speech. I didn't even make it
to the end.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah yeah, I mean how long do you think Joe
made it for?
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Well, he hasn't even had his convention. You don't even
know what's going to happen in a month from now.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I think we do. I just I think it's the
question is who replaces?
Speaker 2 (27:57):
I mean, it's just did you catch any of Dan
White speech? No?
Speaker 1 (28:03):
And like look full disclosure data.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Nos.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
I'm friends. Dana is a friend, And I actually text
with him the other day because there's something else he
had this He has this video on this Bruce Lee quote.
Have you ever ever seen the Bruce Bruce Lee quote
that he kind of like he lives by Like I
love it anyway. No, but Dana's he's data's good.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
He was fired up, Like, are the most I ever
seen him fired up?

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Remember the terrible song?
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Oh what terrible. It's a great song.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
No, there's nothing is awful. No, this is actually the
moment that Coolio jumped the.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Shot at Doug Gottlieb. Tweet at Doug Gottlieb.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
This is this is the moment that Coolio jumped the shark.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Now, this is among the greatest hits.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
You know, Gangster's Paradise is his hit.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
He's got like five big hits.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
This isn't one of them.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
One, two, three, four something new.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Yes, good good song, good hip hop song. Right, Gangster's
Paradise the best, this one not one of them. Let's
get to Nick Cope with the press. The press, I.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
Was like fantastic voyage too, but betage going.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
All right.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
I want to bring back some comments Ablo Sweeney had
yesterday talking about potential ramifications of the new twelve team
playoff format.
Speaker 9 (30:45):
If you're four and four and probably out of the playoffs,
probably see some guys head off to Arizona and train.
You'll probably see just some situations like you see in
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Ravens are in the playoffs.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
They got locked up, right, they got the buye or
they got one more game. That really means nothing. You
play Lamar in that game. Maybe you're eleven to ozher
and you got that rivalry game, but oh, you play
your biggest foe next week in the conference championship, and
if you win that game, you're going to get a buye.
Those are things that will probably decisions you'll see play
out all throughout college football.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
So dabbo things, guys are going to be sitting out
halfway through the season with this new playoff.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Uh, I don't think.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
I think.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
I think that you guys sit out once they lose,
like their third game towards the end of the year.
I think there's a lot of unintended consequences we haven't
gotten to yet. The the opting out of bowl games
was an unintended consequence, and obviously Christian McCaffrey kind of
popularized it. But it's been bad. You know that, along
with the playoff, ruined the bowl games and now the
(31:50):
rest of those bowl games. Like, what are you to
watch this for?
Speaker 6 (31:52):
I don't know, all right. Doug Clinton Kershaw is making
a rehab start tonight for TRIPLEA Oklahoma City talked at
the top of the show about the Yankees. Dodgers have
been equally as struggling. They're trying to get some pitching back.
But the hope is that this is Kershaw's final rehab
start before he can rejoin the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Well, Dodgers obviously need arms, you know, and we know
at this stage in his career it's not like he's
a power arm. But such a crafty dude, you can
love him. Just imagine you're in Oklahoma City, right, You're
in brick Town. You're like, you want to go the ball
game night, Like, yeah, baseball game. You know, Clinton Kershaw's pitching.
It's kind of cool, all right, kind of cool.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Scheduled to go four innings if you are in the OKC.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Area, make sure you get to early because then you
get you're like, oh.
Speaker 6 (32:39):
Whoa, all right, let's go to the NFL. It's been
bandied about ever since the league went to seventeen games
that they would eventually get to eighteen. Stephen Jones, Cowboys executive,
said to The Athletic that it's quote unquote probably inevitable
that it's going to happen, isn't isn't that an oxymoron?
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Inevitable means it's going to happen, Probably means probably happens.
Probably inevitable those words don't work together. They have room
in the schedule for an eighteen game schedule. They make
a billion dollars per week doing games. Of course they're
going to go to eighteen games.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
I like, you go to eighteen, you get rid of
a preseason game out of bye a week that gets
you to President's Day weekend for.
Speaker 7 (33:26):
The super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
Everybody's discussed, Yes, everybody's happy.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
And I think what's changed there is when the Super
Bowls becomes so big, there was some thoughts that you
wouldn't have the same number with Presidents Day weekend and
watching the games. I don't think that matters way more. No,
that matters more. I mean, and then nobody can think
about the things that you do. Nobody complains about the
start time of the super Bowl anymore. If you have
the day off of work the next day, nobody's like
the kids, What about the kids instead of the super Bowl? Right? So,
(33:53):
I think it's just so much better the double buy
you can do the players safety thing, Oh that's good.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
Kevin Durant back practicing with Team USA. He's been dealing
with that right calf injury. He's questionable to play in
the tune up tomorrow against South Sudan. But US looked
good without him a couple days ago against Serbia. How
do you think Durant's gonna mix in here when he
is able to play?
Speaker 1 (34:16):
People forget Kevin Durant. Same to the USA in the
last Olympics. He's far and away their best player. I
still think he's their go to score, more so more
so than Steph Curry. I think there'll be a couple
games with Steph, just like he did against Serbia, where
he goes crazy. But I think in the games they're
going to Kevin Durant to get a bucket.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
I thought this was interesting. It's only been six months
since Nick Sabin stepped down announced his retirement, but his
name is already immortalized at Alabama. It is now Sabin
Field at Bryant Dennys Stadium. I know it's not a statue, No, No,
I love that.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I like that a lot. I like it because you
hate when they bring the guy back and he's like
so old that no one you know, he can't even
look at the field.
Speaker 7 (35:00):
And the turf.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Right. I'm happy as hell.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Yeah, and he deserves it, like nobody's gonna be like no,
hold on, now, did we bring this one to a vote?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Hey? Yeah, I love it here.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
They did.
Speaker 6 (35:16):
They did bring it to a vote, and not surprisingly yeah,
being the guys like Alabama like nay, nay.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
I don't think the Alabama Board of Trustees had any
problem with that. Lamb had all right. Tiger Woods, getting
further and further from who he used to be, really struggled.
Probably the last time we're gonna see him until maybe
December when he's got his own tournament. But plus fourteen
in his two rounds at the Open another miscut that sucks.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Look, I'll just tell you. I mean Jason, I think
we were working together time when he had the car accident.
I thought he'd never played professional golf again. So some
of this comes down to perspective. We're all comparing him
to Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods. I'm comparing to Tiger Woods
shattered car accident in LA. Might not ever walk again,
let alone play professional golf again, let alone play in
a major again. I think that's a win. Now, got
(36:09):
to make it through the weekend at some point.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
And more. Brandon Ayuk News. Here's a report from Pro
Football Talk I just saw prior to the draft. Apparently
five teams were willing to pay Ayuk a contract he
was looking for, but they couldn't work out a trade
with San Francisco he touched on a little bit before.
But the Niners got the love for its here they do.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
I mean, just people got to remember that all of
this stuff doesn't matter. You're under contract and if they
could trade you, they already would. The only thing, Brandon
I you could hope for is a top level wide
receiver goes down in camp and somebody is desperate and
wants to move mountains. But you're the Niners. You're like, dude,
we got your penciled in, We're not moving you.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
That's the press.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
They get out there and pressed.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
That was the press.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
So how long has it been since I've been in
the studio? I literally left here and flew overnight and
announced I had the job, like announced it had the job,
that I'd be gone ever since, right, I've been back?
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Is that right? Yeah? You we last time when we
saw you in person, was like you had just gotten
worth that you're gonna get the job. So was that April?
Is that May?
Speaker 4 (37:19):
May?
Speaker 2 (37:19):
May? So it's been two and a half months, I'd
say too much.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
No, No, two.
Speaker 6 (37:23):
Month I got to here. May fourteenth was when you
you're a hire was announced?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Okay, and so today is July eighteenth, nineteenth nineteenth. There
you go, so roughly two months. What's changed A lot,
a lot lot, including a new puppy, new puppy. We're
all a fan, are you guys good with Do you
guys like Vinnie Lombardi or do you like Curly Lambeau?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Monsie was saying Monty Blanios, who's hosting next? She was
saying that, like he's got two names, or you're deciding still,
I mean it could be either I like a Vince
Lamb Barkie. Isn't that what you said, Vince Lamb Barkie.
You're gonna call him Barkie?
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Eventually, well Bartie is what they were calling around the office,
so he's it was really interesting. My boss, Josh Moon,
He's like, you know, you can't have the dog in
here every day? And then he likes the dog so
much he's like, ye know, I want to get one
of those from my mom, Like, well, is which is it?
Speaker 4 (38:11):
You love?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
My big mic WHU runs things around here, also told
you you can't bring the dog in so that's twice
you've heard.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
This anti dogite, anti dog guite. Well listen, it wasn't
my fault. There's this massive, massive computer failure today. Was
not the plan anyway. Good to be back in studio,
Good to be back with you guys. Download the podcast.
