Speaker 3 (01:10):
Of course, the Germans.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Deutsche. Yes, I'm three quarters German.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I told you that I probably you Probably.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
My last name kind of gives it away. It's a
very German name. It is, yes, yes, by yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Correct, yes, yes, yes, yes, I.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Don't you don't think it's German.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I don't. I don't, Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Close to Byron Munich.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah there, Okay, I got you, gotcha. I've been to Germany.
I went to Germany many years ago. I went to Munich,
Munich Ingelstadt. And then I try to hop on a
train and I got yelled at nine and I was like,
so that's not the train, got it. I just that's
all I knew. Nine was no, right, yes, So I
just was like, that's not the train.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Okay, get another one. The beer was excellent in Germany.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yes, excellent, ein Swidry. Okay, okay, all right, that's one, two, three,
stop some loving hate?
Speaker 5 (02:09):
What did you love?
Speaker 6 (02:10):
God?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I love you? And what did you hate?
Speaker 5 (02:13):
These player hays.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Manzi. Just so you know, you're gonna have to set
aside three minutes in the next commercial break because Big
MIC's gonna come down here and you guys are gonna
swap Germany stories. Oh good he's also been to Germany
as well.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Oh goody can't wait again.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Love and Hate did the creation of one. Jason Stewart,
What we loved from this weekend and what we hated
from this weekend? We too much big mic talk? Jason Stewart,
what did you love from this past weekend? You can't
get enough big mic talk. I love Big Mike. I
mean runs the playstown here. So this I love this exchange.
(02:50):
If we could play this here, Sam, This is Craig Counsel.
He was talking to a reporter after their game on Saturday,
maybe it was yesterday. So there their infield or Christopher Morrell.
I think that's how you pronounce it.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
He was up with first and second nobody out in
the tie game of the ninth first and second nobody out,
tie game of the ninth Right, us old schoolers are
like perfect time to bunt. But it's a good chance
he's never been taught to butt. All he does is
just swing out of his ass, That's what he does.
And sometimes he makes contact and he'll hit the ball
out of the park. Every once in a while so
(03:28):
the reporter kind of took issue with with that, like,
you had the winning run at second base with nobody
with no outs and Christopher Morell up, and this is
how it went.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Earlier in the game, just like the at bats, thinking
like the seventh ingram monrel there's a time run at
second he's look like, you're swinging for the lake there.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
I don't know what do you think about some of them?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Come on, Jesse, come on, that's your comment.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Well, I'm wondering about I think that's that's a that's
a bad take. Well, that's a bad take. He's swinging
for the lake. That's a bad take. It's a bad take.
Why is that.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
He's having a good at bat, trying to hit the
ball hard.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
It didn't work.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
The pitcher made a good pitch, he made an out.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
Okay, he made an unproductive out. He made an unproductive
out with two out with nobody out in the ninth.
I think the reporter's question is totally valid, and he
does swing for the lake. It was a much easier
way of saying he swings out of his ass when
he should have put the ball in play. And I
love that the reporter called counts a lout on that
(04:34):
that was great.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
I I love it as well, but also because the
lake was I think it's different from where he would
actually swing, Like if you were to hit him on
the left, he'd actually be hitting towards.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
So it's a cricket thing. Yeah, cricket. If you hit
it way to the right, that's still in play.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Right. Yeah, like he would, Yeah, he would. He really
would have to. He'd basically hit a foul ball if
he was swinging for the light, to be perfectly honest,
But hey, to each their own good for just sobs
ended up winning. I think that's the case. They would
have to maybe right field, like right field line barely,
but if you're swinging to left, you're basically going north
(05:15):
in Chicago. That would be the dynamics of it. So
maybe he was swinging for the lake. You know what
I love from this weekend, speaking of bodies of water,
the weather that was coming off of the water at
Royal Troon on Saturday, which made Manzi a golf fan
because she realized that golf is not fair, just like
(05:36):
life is not fair. And the weather cell that came
in brought a lot of players into contention. I know
it probably wasn't great for the leaders and those that
fell off, But in the end Xander Schoffley rose to
the occasion on Sunday. But it was the action on
Saturday when you had this carnage and you had guys
who were hitting te shots at the Open Championship about
one hundred and thirty yards shorter than they were the
(05:58):
day before, when the wind was in a different direction,
which is crazy because there's probably no divots to where
they're hitting. You're wondering if they can make the fair
way on some of these for some of the shorter hitters.
But it was just a different way of golf, and
I don't think people were complaining. Sometimes people complain about
the US Open and the setups and how it is
(06:19):
when mother nature takes over and these guys have to
play through it, nobody really cares and they love watching
the guys struggle, and that's what happened on Saturday. But
it was still magnificent because when you did hit a
good shot, it was like a good shot times ten.
Like Scotti Scheffler. We was on seventeen, put one within
like three feet of the hole, and people are like
that was one of the greatest three woods we ever saw.
(06:40):
We saw professionals hitting driver on a par three on
Saturday at the Open Championship, and that was awesome.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Well, speaking of big shots, I do have something that
I loved from this weekend, even though I hated the
weekend more than anything.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Mazzi told us now because we haven't heard from Nick
or Sam yet, but she wanted to go last. Yeah,
you must really love something.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
There is something that I did enjoy and it happened yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
For some reason. Nick Castillanos hits home runs.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
When Kenny hold On hon s you up. Can I
set you up here? Let me just play this, we
just talk about it.
Speaker 7 (07:18):
I'll give it to Nick swung on an that one
sit well left field. Going back on it, as Reynolds,
he's at the track, he's looking up.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
And that one's not coming back.
Speaker 7 (07:26):
Nick Castianos the solo shot here in the ninth his
fourteenth of the season, and the Phillies now lead at
six to nothing.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
Phillies Radio Network. This happened with two outs in the
ninth inning.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
So he tends to hit.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Homers when big things happen in the world, and this
was right after Joe Biden announced that he was withdrawing
from the presidential race, and literally Bo and Chris Purfett,
who were here, were like, oh, let's see if the
odds just went up, that cass is going to hit
a home run, like it was a thing already. He
hits home runs whenever something big happens. And the fact
that everybody immediately went to their phones to see if
(08:02):
the odds went up, which they did, people started betting
on it, and then he hit home run. Nake, I'm sorry,
but thank you for setting me up here.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
No, we can just tag team this further context. So,
when he was in minor league ball, his first home
run as a professional came on the same day that
Osama Bin Lawden's death was announced. There was, of course
the Tom Brennanman hot mic apology that kind of spawned
the whole thing. Yesterday, Tom Brenneman was announced as a
(08:30):
college football voice for the CW this year as well,
So you have that full circle.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Moment, you have.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
He hit a home run on the assassination attempt the
day Queen Elizabeth died I ninety five collapse in Philly,
Like the list just keeps going.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
That's a bait, I thought, that it was made up.
I saw the list as well, and I thought it
was a joke. And then I'm like, wait, no, that
did happen that day, And yeah, amazing, it's crazy. And
now people know castianos and they and they don't say
with the ls anymore. No, I was, Sam, what did
you love from this weekend? Okay?
Speaker 9 (09:08):
So, uh, we have the w NBA All Star Game.
I did a couple of little things in that. Uh
the team w n B a defeated team. U. I
say love that Kaylen Clark set a rookie record tenn
assists in the All Star Game. I hope I'm not
stealing it. I'm just taking the little little bit last
love as well. Oh, okay, good? Also, Uh the Dodgers
(09:32):
yesterday they hit six home runs? Was that like a
just a high year?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
You couldn't get any work done at home? He kept
on hearing homer after homer, homer after homer.
Speaker 9 (09:40):
The Dodgers absolutely abused the Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
That was a fun game to watch.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
And planted a little garden and some some flowers and
some seeds and some uh some pots I have So
that was nice. Got outside, got a little workout in
my back's been hurting, so actually heat kind of helped
my back, so it was good to move around a
little bit. So, uh yeah, that was Those were my
loves of the weekend. Uh yeah, and also Angel Reese,
(10:06):
you know what they She also said it didn't that
record didn't.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Prove that Caitlin Clark shouldn't be on the Olympic team
though that that game, No, it did not, didn't it,
Sam No talking about her shooting. Yeah, I mean she
was over seven. Oh well, let's save that for hate.
This game perfect transition. Oh I hated that transition from
(10:31):
love to hate. That is that is my hate. I'm
kid his kittens?
Speaker 6 (10:35):
What did you mar? Did you hate that transition to hate?
Or the fact that Bob Newhart was never on the show?
And Sam said it on the fact that.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
This is still going four days later as incredible.
Speaker 9 (10:47):
Well, it was reprehensible, incredible running inside joke here. You
got to be listening on Friday? Was it Thursday or
Fridays Day? Here's the other all the way back to Thursday.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Here's the other. Great part about this was Sam printed
a picture of Bob Newhart on a photocopier and it
was black and white on a piece of paper, and
we're in the studio for fifteen months, like it's still
a fairly new studio. And he was shocked that someone
took a random piece of paper on high quality radio
studio wall coverings. When he walked in on this Monday
(11:22):
that his picture of Bob Newhart was taken down. He
could not believe that someone didn't leave that random, weird
looking piece of paper up on the wall.
Speaker 9 (11:30):
I think it was scaring people, and someone took it
down because he looked very old in Cripkeeper.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
As a matter, if he was twenty five. We shouldn't
be putting pieces of random paper up on a professional
studios wall. Probably right. For some reason, we have two
Taco signs that say the same thing in the studios.
I have no idea what actually paid for this one
one doesn't isn't sufficient? Like what are we doing here?
Speaker 6 (11:51):
All right?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I'm okay with men, that's right. What did you hate everything?
You've got a lot of hate? Okay, I got a
couple of things here, so yeah.
Speaker 9 (11:59):
Caitlin Clark of seven from three point this is just
kind of more a microcosm of her struggles shooting the ball.
She's been an absolute wizard on the court with the
assists a quarterback on the court. But yeah, her shooting
has really suffered lately. And yeah, that All Star game
where she was over seven from three was not great. Also,
I saw the movie Twisters. It was not good. Really, yeah,
(12:23):
I mean it was pretty much laughably bad in my opinion.
I know it's done well on Rotten Tomatoes, but I
haven't heard anyone say a good thing about it. No,
it was really it was really just all around bad.
So I hated it. It was yeah, I hated it.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
We were laughing by the end of it.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
It was bad. So that those are my hates. Ninety
percent on Rotten Tomatoes. And I think that Sam and
I were talking about this, I think the general public
has generally bad taste in art, so it's like, yeah,
that audience score is always a tricky one for me.
I do trust the critics score, but ninety percent, and
I haven't heard a good thing either about it.
Speaker 9 (13:00):
Range I think that the original Twister with Bill Paxson,
Helen Hunt, and well the late great Bill Paxson, late
great Philip Simore Hoppin that kind of did everything you
need to do for a movie about tornadoes.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I don't think it really.
Speaker 9 (13:13):
I mean, this is a big summer blockbuster and he's
gonna make a lot of money. Twisters I'm talking about.
But I think if you left Twister alone, it would
have been it would have been sufficient.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
When you do too late greats, the second one doesn't
hit as much as the first one? Am I correct?
Like I know, I know, but you know when you
double it up, it kind of.
Speaker 9 (13:33):
Takes off from How about the late Bill Paxson, the
great Philip Seymour. That's perfect, I think that though, and
late with all due respect, yes we missed him, all right.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I've got a hate since tam USA is playing Germany
right now, can't we just enjoy the Olympics? Can't we
just enjoyed Team USA? Like we're all on the same
team here. Like during an NBA season, we're on thirty
different teams, and depending on what players you like don't like,
you're probably on different teams as well. In the NBA
(14:04):
is a nine month soap opera. I don't need the
two weeks of the Olympics or the three weeks leading
up to it to sit here and treat this this
formation of this team like we do nine months of
the NBA season. Yeah, I don't care about rotations. I
don't care about who's being utilized in what situation. You
(14:25):
know what I want to do. I want to sit home.
I want to watch Team USA and I hope they
win the Gold And I know there are people that
are cheering against them because they're not Lebron fans or
at least like against South Sudan, wanted to see the upset.
I'm gonna be all for Team USA at one point
in my life. Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, Devin Booker,
Jason Tatum, all these guys are on one team and
they're actually on my team. So I'm going to sit
(14:47):
there and cheer for them and not complain on Man,
how is this going to look in free agency in
twenty twenty six? Like, could we just give it a rest?
The season's going to start in like four weeks anyway.
I know it's not going to but it seems like
that PAS is gonna be here in mid September. That's
actually two months, it's less than two months away. Can
we just give this a break and enjoy the basketball
(15:07):
for the next two weeks? Please?
Speaker 6 (15:11):
It's a good one.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
It is a good one.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
I have a friend who like dissects movies. So she's like,
look at how fake that looks.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Look at that? So they're in a stage, can't you talk?
And I'm like, can I just enjoy the movie? Could
you stop pointing out all the claws? Like, I know
it's fake, but can you just let.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Me enjoy this moviews me at Twisters.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I mean, it's just all she does, and she's listening.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
She knows who she is because she literally I'm like,
you take the fun out of movies.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I know it's fake. Stop dissecting it.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Fact stuff court mister shutting and celsu Dan can't hit
big shuts. Okay, all right, you know tell me that
November May. All right? Nick, you gotta hate Nick? Uh.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Yeah. So I'm a Noracal native, not an A's fan,
but I hate what has happened to the Oakland A's
And I saw this over the weekend that apparently they
have no financing to pay for this one point five
billion dollar ballpark in Vegas, and just the fact that
Major League Baseball allows this charade to continue. They're gonna
(16:14):
play in a Triple A ballpark in Sacramento apparently for
the next three years, where they have to conform to
the Triple A schedule, not the other way around. They
gotta work around the Triple A team like it's just
a disaster. And the fact that Major League Baseball has
allowed John Fisher to do all this just another example.
(16:34):
But yes days are going to Vegas. Everybody. We don't
know how they're gonna build it, where the money's coming from,
but yeah, they'll be there in four years.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
They'll figure it out as they go. I think that's
their plan, all right. I did see a movie this weekend,
Long Legs. It's a scary movie that really was mid
and that, unfortunately, is not what I hated about my weekend.
I wish that was my story, but instead, somebody decided
to break into my car yesterday here at work while
(17:03):
it was parked, while it was locked, while I.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Didn't leave anything visible.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Somebody literally broke into my car and stole so many things,
including my MacBook laptop. But that's not what hurts the most,
I know, y'all, Like they took my jewelry, and I'm
so sad about that.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
They took a Dodger jersey, so sad about.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
That, but this guy and I'm guessing it's a guy,
not a girl.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
I'm guessing here.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Yes, even just grabbed a bag out of my trunk
that has no value to this person but me. It
had my glove that I have played softball with since
I was like ten years old. Like this glove is
the only glove that I've ever played in, and that's
the bag that this piece of you know what took
(17:49):
you know what I'm.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Saying, Like, uh, Like I'm so, I'm.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
So mad and I was in such a foul mood
for like the last twenty four hours. Hanging out with
you guys has really cheered me up because it's just
like the stuff that I can replace, I can replace,
but the stuff that you can't replace, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Like I'm so I was so mad. I was so
so mad.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah, like I feel yes, violating, Like I'm just like, man,
I did all the right things, and like you you
could see the fingerprints on the my door, like the
window that they were probably trying to see what they
could see and there was nothing to see. You took
a risk and I'm just like, ugh, sometimes violence is
the answer.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I'm just saying, shame suck.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I'm glad that we could at least day Yeah somewhat,
Yeah around us idiots.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
You guys really haven't made me feel a little bit
better because I was in such a foul moon and
I didn't sleep all night just thinking about my stuff
all mad.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
I'm very.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
It does suck, It really does, and there's nothing to
do about it.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
You know, I spent the entire Sunday yesterday glued to
my TV. When these things happen in politics and stuff,
I can't get enough. And like, this is we're literally
experiencing something that we've never experienced in our country. And
the news yesterday came out and this is what I
hated about it. Everything that I can't stand about politicians
(19:16):
surfaced yesterday. All the platitudes and all the praise that
President Biden was given for being a hero in the moment,
for being unselfish. He's going to go down as one
of the greatest presidents ever by the same people that
have spent the last three weeks knifing him in the
back and closed door meetings. How do we get this
(19:38):
old guy to quit the race? They were doing nothing
but plotting the whole time, and the second he does
they come out with praise and platitudes, and that's the
kind of stuff that makes us resent politicians and politics.
So I couldn't stand that part of yesterday, but I
do it. Don't remind people this has never happened in
the history of our country. What's going going on with
(20:00):
Joe Biden right now? And I don't think we've seen
his face yet. That's another conspiracy theory on Wine is
that all that stuff that happened yesterday was done by
his staff and he has not presented his face to
this point, so that's something to follow as well.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
White House did release his statement within the nice last
like five or ten minutes about an update on his health.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
That he's alive.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yes, that he is alive, and that is love and hate.
Speaker 1 (20:30):

we'll get the latest from Nick Cope on what's happening today,
and we try to look at what happened yesterday with
Joe Biden dropping out of the election and try to
use our own experiences. When was the time that we
(21:10):
wish we just dropped out and didn't commit and go
through what we thought we should go through. That's coming
up in ten minutes.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yeah, I can't believe it's Monday. You keep saying that.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
I'm like, that's mine.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yeah, it's just the start of the week.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
And actually it's coming up in about three minutes.
Speaker 4 (21:23):

Way above my pay grade to pick any winner.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
So I because you're here, so are you going to
do it?
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yes? I don't know. Actually I don't even know who
picks the winner. So that's uh, yeah, he's off on Sundays.
Come on, you're right, you're right. He always said, like
we need to sit back and just enjoy the Olympics
and cheer for Team USA and and and and just
enjoy that run and hopefully they can bring home the gold.
There are very few things that unify us. And I
(22:27):
think that the the the basketball world, in the sporting
world is also unified against what Sebastian Telfair said on
various podcasts. He was on All the Smoke and he
was on other podcasts, but when he was on All
the Smoke, he was criticizing Chris Paul as the Union chief,
and Steven Jackson had to step up and say, hold
on a second here, Chris Paul did a lot for
(22:48):
the players, especially for the for the veterans. And then
Sebastian Telfair was on on a different podcast and ended
up bringing up some Kobe Bryant stories that just weren't appropriate.
And the only reason I said that it's not appropriate
is I don't want to repeat the story because thene
that's doing what Sebastian Telfair would want to do. But
I do want you to hear what Stephen Jackson had
(23:10):
to say in response after hearing the former point guard
go on podcasts after podcast just saying a bunch of stuff.
Come on, bro, like, what are you gaining from that?
Speaker 8 (23:20):
What type of attention you think you gained it from there?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Bro?
Speaker 8 (23:24):
Like that's the weeke in the world to even mention
it did about what's Like, that's crazy, bro, But you
can't be mad at people for the mistakes you made,
for the decisions you made. That's sad when you got
to bring up other people to make himself look better
because he ain't got going on and he ain't doing
(23:44):
nothing to be proud of. Y'all got to cut this week.
Do not be Sebastian tail.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
I could not agree more with what Stephen Jackson says, yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
It's not like it's it's not a breaking the guy code.
I mean, like the people that you are hurting because
the story was unflattering towards Kobe Bryant and you're you're
you're hurting Kobe Bryant's family members, those who are still alive.
And he even gave a precursor on the podcast, which
is very disingenuous in so like he knew what he
was doing, and so they have Stephen Jackson say what
(24:13):
he said. Good on Stephen Jackson for for showing them out.
But yeah, this isn't a this is a this is
a way more than a guy code sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Totally like you did this strictly for yourself.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
As Stephen Jackson pointed out, you knew this was going
to garner clicks and people were going to tune in
and people are gonna listen, Oh did you hear what
he said.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
About Kobe Bryant.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
And what's really really gets grinds my gears in this
situation is because you know, Kobe is no longer around,
you said something and he can't defend himself, like that's
that's that's now the lasting impression that people are going
to have of the late and great Kobe Bryant because
you just decided to say this, why why?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah? I hate that is his kids would have to
hear something like this.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
His wife go on like why this was so sad?
Speaker 4 (25:00):
And it just like shows that you just suck as
a human, Like there's no other way around it. I
don't know why any friend, anybody would want to be
your friend if they know that this is how low
you're willing to go.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Just a bad, bad look. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
So, and TNT's Sports say they will match a bid
for NBA media rites reports say it's to match Amazon's
one point eight billion dollar package. Dan and Monsei back
to you.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
You know, honestly, I feel like it's tricky for the
NBA because, as we talked about earlier, we're basically talking
about everyone being in love with the two hours that Chuck, Kenny,
Shack and Ernie are on Thursday nights, and sometimes they
don't even work all of those Thursdays, and sometimes it's
the NCAA tournament, so you're working, like that's the reason
why we're saving the package. And if you're the NBA,
(25:44):
TNT is not gonna want to pay for the full
package they're not gonna want. Then that's all ESPN and ABC.
So now you got a partial package that maybe Amazon wants.
It's just in a in a spot where you're growing
and you're seeing more and more sports to go to Amazon.
Maybe it's a way for them. I actually don't think
it's as easy of a decision for the NBA. It's
easy for us to say, oh, yeah, who doesn't want
(26:06):
Chuck and Erny and all that back because obviously, yeah,
that's the case, but you're also well, they're not going
to be broadcasting for the next you know, thirty or
twenty years, not that the deal is that long, but
there's just a lot that comes with it.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
There is.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
But that's all we see as fans is NBA on team.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Don't mess with our Thursday nights during.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Game Yeah, first the winter.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Please don't and into the spring. The big news of
this weekend was Joe Biden, President Biden dropping out of
the presidential race. So instead of being like, who are
the biggest dropouts in the NFL history, which I'm sure
somebody is doing today, let's just use our own experiences,
our own experiences on when maybe we wish we would
(26:46):
have dropped out of something hindsight where we would have said,
you know what, maybe I shouldn't have kept that commitment.
Maybe I should have just just said, you know what,
I'm good. That's what we want to know today here
on Fox Sports Radio. You guys want to know where
I would drop out of? Please junior prom.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Are we not going to play Beauty School drop out?
In the background, you're saying, like, what are we doing this?
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Just the conversation we have behind the scenes. Okay, I'm like,
just have that song ready to go. They're going to
do this, this, this thing, And so I just asked
them ten seconds before you said that, do you have
that song? It's like, well, I was going to play it.
Does a rejoin?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
No, Jui.
Speaker 9 (27:27):
I just want to be a little too like, a
little too distracting behind the scenes.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Here we go, let's do it, all right. It's a
great song. Make sure it's not going on the podcast,
by the way, we're clear, all right, ju song? I'm sorry.
Oh it's great. It's actually probably one of.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
The best numbers.
Speaker 9 (27:47):
Of the entire Grease score and soundtrack. I barely remember
this one.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
The whole movie just like stops for a few minutes.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Let's get back to Dan and Prom. Well, my favorite
part of the songs coming up, So I don't want
to all right, So Junior Prom. I was dating a
girl in high school, and probably about a month prior
to prom, she broke up with me.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Oh no, yeah, that's but she said, let's go as friends.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
No all right? Yeah, And so because stuff was purchased,
you'd bought your d you had bought your talks. I
wish I would have dropped out like Biden at that point. Listen,
I wasn't innocent in my happenings. But I was home
by about eleven thirty on that Saturday night, and then
(28:43):
I had to deal with the prompt pictures. So what
I did is I did to remedy it. When they
actually came in, I just cut a piece of paper
and I put it over her. So in our living
room it was just me and my suit with a
piece of paper over her. But I wish I would
have not have gone. I just would have, you know,
bit the bullet took on the costs. Wish I would
have dropped out of Junior Prom.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Do you still have these pictures?
Speaker 4 (29:06):
By any chance?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Probably I was? I was, Yeah, I would.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
Just love to see if you guys are smiling, if
you look angry while you're smiling, like I just wanted.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
At the time they were taken at like four o'clock
the night was, Hey, really, you don't know that could happen?
Speaker 5 (29:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yeah, by about ten thirty it was off the rails
and yeah it was gone.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Oh yeah, oh man, that's terrible. Yeah you should have.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah, don't go to anybody that's young listening. Don't go
to prom with friends if you were dating them earlier
in high school. Does not workout. Yeah, still as friends
and like a group of friends, totally.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Cool, exactly, Still go, but don't go with the person. Yeah,
absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
You know I have plenty good plenty of situations where
I should have just gone home instead of had the
extra drink.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
But we're not going to talk about that.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
There's also plenty of relationships that I probably should have ended.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
We're not going to talk about that and call it.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
I really should have dropped out of a class, but
I tried to.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Power through and then I ended up failing the class.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
And I it's like the one like I was a
really good student, Like I had really good grades, and
so I always remember that that was going to be
on my record that I had like a D a
history in history, and it was like, I just it
was one of those I had to take it as
a freshman sophomore, like a stupid history class.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
I was not a big man of history, and so
I just remember, like I still remember sitting in that
class and being like.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
I should just drop out. I should just drop out out,
Like if I'm not invested, I should just do it.
And so I always remember that on my record. I
got that D or F maybe even I don't even remember,
and I still had to redo it. But I was like,
why didn't I drop out? Why didn't I drop out?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
And there's a little leeway because they allow you to
drop classes it ready, and then when you join another class,
they actually give you leeway because you just joined that
class exactly.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Like that's what was so.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Stupid of me to not drop out, because I had
like a time period and also I think there was
even an extra time period where it's like, okay, we're
it's a withdrawal. You'll have a do W because you
withdrew from the class, but it won't be like an
alf uh.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
So stupid, stupid.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Me Jason Stewart, did you want to pull a Biden
at any point in your life?
Speaker 6 (31:14):
Let's see biding off more than you could chew? I
think is that that's the analogy, right, biding off more
than you could choose, biding off more than you can chew?
Is that what he said?
Speaker 2 (31:22):
What was that?
Speaker 6 (31:22):
What is bite enough more than I could chew?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Would you were you trying to do that?
Speaker 6 (31:26):
If you were?
Speaker 2 (31:27):
That was Bob So.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
I took a job pro bono during the pandemic, and uh,
I had already uh picked up two contract jobs, and
then I took it on a job that was pro
bono and it ended up being more time for me
to do that job than the other jobs. Should have
dropped that one. It was free. I was trying to
be a good guy and should have dropped it. And
I hope the person that hired me for that isn't listening.
(31:54):
I took a job pro bono once. So that's how
I met my wife. She was a you ste haven't
found if you're looking.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
I found her. I did find her. Nick Cope, any
any dropout stories that you want to pass.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
I lived my life with zero regrets.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
That he told us an hour Ago, Iowa. Sam.
Speaker 9 (32:13):
One that comes to mind is I thought about after
I'd graduated from college, got my undergrad degree.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
I thought it'd be good.
Speaker 9 (32:20):
I thought, you know, I don't know what's next for me,
I should go to grad school. So I paid for
a GRI graduate I had looked up to it. I
couldn't remember what it stood for Graduate Record examinations. I
paid for a gre prep course and I remember taking
one of the mock tests and it was really hard
and gave me a lot of stress. I ended up
just going to that class less and less, and I
(32:41):
paid for it. You know, it was like hundreds of dollars.
Ended up just like dropping out of that. It was
a waste of my time. And here I am, like
twelve years later. No one at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
No one at any weddings that they went to and
got into an argument with someone who made it ugly
and then felt like they never should have gone to
the wedding. I remember the wedding, well, not a wedding.
She's Monty Blago. So I'm Dan Bayer or a love
Forth TIREQ dot Com Studios Team USA, Yes on the ropes.
I don't know if they want to drop out of
this one against Germany, but the Olympics start this week,
so it's now we're never for Team USA. We'll get
(33:13):
an update on how they're doing against Germany. She's Moncey.
I'm Dan. That's next here The Doug Gottlieb Show on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Doug Gottlieb Show at Fox Sports Radio. Wrapping things up
on a Monday with Monty Belanho. So, I'm Dan Byer
in for Douglar from the Tirec dot Com Studios. You
can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. You can
find Mancy at Moncey Belano's. Did you see the A's
new logo that I made up as a joke so far?
Speaker 3 (33:48):
One like well, like, okay, let me go like it.
I liked it in person.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Well, and it's not an original It's not an original joke,
but I just felt it was apropos from the story
that Nick Cope mentioned earlier. So we quote reached. We
did an article from barstool and used the new the
new logo that I developed in Microsoft Paint. Iow Sam's here,
Jason Stewart's here, and the aforementioned Nick Cope is here
with the press.
Speaker 5 (34:13):
The press, all right, Danna Moncey Well, Russell Westbrook penned
a farewell message to his longtime home, the LA Clippers
and their fans, reads, in part quote, to all my fans.
You guys don't know how much your support means to me.
You all keep me motivated and energized. I've got the
(34:34):
most loyal and amazing fans in sports.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
End quote.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
This goes back to Moncey and I debating last week
and whether Russell Westbrook is liked or not liked, And
this would show that there is a fan base for
him to be liked.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
But there really is a fan base, and I do
think Clipper fans really liked him. We appreciated what he
did just because we are so used to our star.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Not playing because are injured.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
It was quite nice that he every single time stepped
up and tried tried to win us the game. He
really did, so I think Clipper fans really appreciated what
he did in his two years with us.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Did Russell Westbrook play more? Games as a Laker or
a Clipper.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
As a Clipper, it was a Laker.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Really, yes, really, yes, there was a one hundred and
thirty games as a Laker, eighty nine games as a Clipper.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Oh wow. I honestly, it's just I feel like he
didn't do anything.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
Then.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Yeah, I'd take it as a diss to the Lakers
as well. Yeah, like, yeah, I think that's exactly what
it was. He's leaving LA where he's from, where he
went to school, and now he's likely going to Denver.
But to just say the Clippers, you know, after there
was I don't think there was a letter after he
left the Lakers or I never got rid of him.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
No, no, no, if.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
It was, it was by period.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
If that maybe.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
If that, see ya, yeah, he probably wish you would
have dropped out of the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah yeah, oh Westbrooks.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (36:03):
Well, with our resident golf expert in the chairs, Ander
Schoffley won the Open Championship. He's the first golfer to
win two majors in the same year since so Brooks.
Koepka in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Yeah, Kepka won the US Open and PGA that year
at Shittacock and then at Hazel team unique scenario because
just as Ander Schoffley was winning, Joe Biden was dropping
out of the race. And again I think that there
would have been about, you know, three or four other
really really good stories from the Open, him becoming a
two time major winner and doing those in the same season.
(36:37):
Normally it'd be a huge story in golf, but there
is just no buzz around Xander Schofflee, great, great player,
magnificent this past weekend. But there were like you said
that there's no buzz around Scotti Sheffle, like there's there's
nothing that Xander Schoffley's gonna do to move the needle
in golf. So it was almost a bit of a
letdown despite his magnificent round of sixty five, because if
(36:59):
Justin and Rose or Billy Horschell would have won, Rose
winning again, or Horseell with his energy, I thought would
have been great. But Showfley runs away with it and
then is completely overshadowed when Biden stepped down of any
momentum of it being a store and.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
He waited just enough like he won in and then
two minutes later Biden dropped the news. So if he waited,
he was respectful. He waited, but yeah, there was no
no buzz, no talk, no nothing.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
No, it's a shame. It's but you know, and and
it's not meant to be disrespectful to Xander Shoffley. It's
just some guys move the needle with that electricity. Some
guys don't. That necessarily hasn't been Xander. Maybe if he
wins four or five, gets to that, you know, brooks Kepka, Mark,
Rory McElroy, Mark like it won't be as big as McElroy,
(37:47):
but maybe you get more talk about him. But right
now still kind of waiting on that.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
That's suppress, get out there and pressed.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
That was the press and the greatest thing from this
past week. And was Manzi realizing that golf is not fair.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Oh my, it is the most unfair thing out there.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
I could not play it because I would I would
be a very sore loser if I played golf.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
No, very fair and.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
It's very representative for the game of life. Yes, and
that's the lesson you need to learn. Doug's going to
be back tomorrow from Manzi. I'm Dan talk to you
later here on Fox Sports Radio.
