dot com. The way the tire buying should be. Hope
you're doing great. The Doug Gottlieb Show is. We're live
in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Great weather here in northeast Wisconsin.
Uh kind of went all over the country here this weekend,

(00:47):
picking up my dude from Maine back through Chicago where Maine.
There's the remnants of was it a tropical depressure? You
got to be hurricane. A lot of rain, but the
TV works and I we got a chance to see
a bunch of Olympics. There's also some awesome stuff going
on Major League Baseball, and of course all the preseason games.

(01:07):
Round one of the preseason games are done, so we
start to learn a little bit more about our NFL team.
Still haven't seen much from the college kids yet, but
we're getting closer and closer. We're less than three weeks
removed from or three weeks away, excuse me from kickoff
of the college football season. Every Monday. Every Monday, we allow,
we do, allow I with Sam to talk, We allow

(01:28):
Jason Stewart to rand, and we allow Dan Bayer to
get it all off his chest, even though he got
a lot office chests yesterday. When he's hosting his own show.
On weekends here on Fox Sports Radio, we get to
love and hate.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
What did you love?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
God? I love you?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
And what did you hate?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
These player hays. Let's start with lion dude, Dan Byer,
what'd you love for the weekend?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
So this is kind of a weird twist on the
love because I think people actually hated this, especially if
you attended the closing ceremony in Paris, TikTok last night
flooded with people who showed up at the closing ceremony
thinking they were going to see live performances by Billie Eilish,
Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And for

(02:15):
those of us that watched the ceremony the closing ceremony
last night, found out that the Redout Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg,
and Billie Eilish were performing in Southern California on a
beach in Long Beach, which they said on the broadcast
to think that it was venice, but it was not.
It was in Long Beach. It was all a made

(02:35):
up manufactured The beaches in the LA area have never
looked so good as they did last night during those performances.
But there were people in Paris who thought that they
were going to see all these concerts from those stars,
and while they saw some music, they didn't see Snoop,
Billie Eilish or the Red Out Chili Peppers.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
And I kind of thought it was funny.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I thought it was hilarious and what do you say
a Snoop.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Dogget But it was one video that pointed out, like
Snoop Dogg has been here for the last two weeks
and then the time that you want to see him perform,
he's not there. Like I understand why they would be tigged,
but for some reason, I just thought it was really
really funny.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
A lot of lip syncing too. I noticed, like everybody
whether they're performing in Paris or in Long Beach or like, weren't.
Actually maybe the Red At Chili Peppers were, but it
seemed like that it was her name you Sault.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
You Sault did the I did it my way. Yeah
she was live, Yeah she was live.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
Yeah, well no, I mean she was in Paris, right,
but I seemed like she was lip syncing. But lovely performance.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
But it also could have been a time been off.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah sure, I.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
Think n it's such an easy idea, like the people
that book that thing, or like who sings about Los
Angeles a lot? Uh California, Oh, red Hot Chili Peppers,
old God.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
That should be your hate.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
Jason is a well no, I mean Red At Chili
Peppers representing all things southern California.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
They made Under the Bridge in nineteen ninety one and
it bought them at least thirty four years.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Of They do have a song called La Lakers Just
Awful Music, La Lakers Fast break Breakers like they and
Anthony Katis does go to Laker games all they do
is I thought that Tom Cruise is what was worse, Like, Oh,
we want a real authentic Los Angeles Like yes, okay,
so we want a guy who nobody likes scientologists, tons
of plastic surgery and though he does his own stunts,

(04:30):
there's a ton of CGI in all of his movies.
And I does Tom Cruise live in LA? Where does
he live?

Speaker 5 (04:37):
I know, I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I like that. That felt weird. And then you got
the Mayor bell A going, hey, we're gonna have a
Carlss Olympics. Like, lady, I don't know how long you
lived here. But the idea of taking taking cars taking
cars from Los Angelinos is it's like taking beers out
of the hands of Wisconsin. It it ain't happen.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
The biggest the I guess faux paw that that they
made is they said, to Doug's point, they don't want
any cars on the road that they're going to bring
in three thousand buses. And when you say that, everybody cringes.
You have to say shuttles. Shuttles is a much softer
blow towards of anything than saying that you have to

(05:19):
take the bus.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Bringing in coaches. Some real nice coaches. Just Speed.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Speed was filmed in La right, remember the movie Speed
with the cana Reeves. What was the what's her name?
Sandra Book, Santra Bullock, whatever happened to Santra Bullock?

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Pop Queers, Hot Shot, blind Side Right, here's a blind
side a lot?

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Isn't that like that movie blind Bird or bird Box
or whatever?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Box? She won the Academy Award for burd.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
But and then the movie Out in Space. She's been
in some stuff. She's been doing stuff.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
But when was the last time she was in a movie?
Big movie?

Speaker 5 (05:48):
It's ironic.

Speaker 8 (05:49):
I think.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I did see bird Box. I didn't see it. Is
that what it's called birds or whatever?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
There's something like normal guy movies like, Yeah, I don't
watch movies, but bird Box is like which is super artistic?

Speaker 5 (05:59):
Well also seeing and not seeing? Right, Yeah, I actually
saw it.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
I saw it. Yeah, Sandra Bullock, let me just see
her IMDb.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
I will say this that Karen Bass not only did
she say that it was going to be a carless
Olympics yesterday, but in recent weeks and Sam watched his
local TV so he could confirm this.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
I am local league cha.

Speaker 7 (06:19):
Karen Bass has said that the La Metro, the metro train.
Metro train is unsafe. Like you never hear a politician
admit that. But I guess there's been so much crime, okay,
so much violence system that she says it's unsafe, and
then she says there's not going to be any cars
for the next one.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
She did give music to the ears of Fox Sports
radio hosts by saying they're asking people to work from
home for those two weeks.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
Yeah, it'll just be like the nineteen eighty four Olympics
where everyone was freaked out going on the road and
which you and I definitely remember saying you weren't born
when I was seven in Wisconsin.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I remember they at people, did dog, Doug.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Jason stay out of this? This is Sam and I
kind you Yeah, yeah, we know, we know what it
was like.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
In eighty four, FSM radio host Steve Hartman told me
verbatim what it was like. So I feel like I
lived it.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Okay, it was amazing, It was amazing. Yeah, that one
right now. Interesting.

Speaker 6 (07:17):
Yeah, the the LA bus system is not the safest
right now. I mean there's there's a lot of tom
foolery that goes on.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Tom foolery. Yeah, I don't think you're a tom Foolery.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Yes, dangerous, dangerous tom Foolery.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Uh okay, what about you there, Sammy? What did you
leve for the weekend?

Speaker 5 (07:35):
A couple of things?

Speaker 6 (07:36):
The ap uh The ap pole came out today, right
Dan today for college football, and my Hawkeyes are right
there at twenty five. And I feel like anytime they
are ranked in the apeopole before the season twenty to
twenty fifth, they win ten, eleven, twelve games. So I
love that they are nestled. It's like we think I

(07:57):
was gonna be good, still got some question marks on offense,
defense is going to be stellar. They're right there in
that twenty to twenty five twenty fifth this year. That's
a good spot for them. I love that another love
loved No, no.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
No, no, no. You get one love? What no?

Speaker 5 (08:14):
I have several?

Speaker 7 (08:14):
It's one at a time.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
It's one at a time. I do a quick one.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
No, are we still going around the room? One loves?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, you can get more loves in, but get more love.
It'spread the love.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Let's do that.

Speaker 7 (08:27):
Jay b Girl ray Gun. You guys know who big
girl Reygun. This idea that she was the gift that
kept kept on giving over the weekend. I mean, I
it reached a point. I don't know if you guys
are like this with humor bur like you see so
many things that you start to get sick of it
and then it gets so much worse in volume that

(08:50):
it starts becoming funny again. Like it reached that threshold
of I'm sick of the ray Gun and then it
started getting more and more funny. So thank you to
Bi Girl ray Gun. For those not familiar, she was
the Australian breakdancer who looked utterly ridiculous in her performance
that was so bad people on Twitter it was. It's

(09:12):
maybe Twitter's most creative moment what they did with this
woman and the music they put to it and the memes.
It was thoroughly entertaining. Thank you to b Girl, ray
Run or ray Gun, whatever your name is.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
My question, I don't know if you saw my tweet
on it. There were so many on Twitter which is like,
so she qualified. Does that mean somebody else didn't qualify?

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Yeah, I don't know. Bad, Yeah, I don't know. Just yeah,
nobody wanted to.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
She was like full gear like the other breakdancers were
like in I guess cool outfits right, stuff that you
would wear. And she looked like she could be playing cricket.
She looks like she could have been playing baseball because
she had the cap and the brim, yeah, the whole deal.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
She looked like she had either the outfit on for
when they went through opening ceremonies and never took it off.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Australians love that sort of hat because my wife had
cousins in Australia and when they came to the States.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
That was the gift for me.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Like it was a big green and yellow baseball cap
with Australia and the kangaroo and the whole deal. They
are completely down with that cap. I didn't have the
exact one, but I still think my point stands.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Can I get to what I loved came again?

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Sure? Well, the way Sam's got four others he wants
to get to first. Dog Just kidding, Sam, go ahead, Doggie.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
I don't know how you can't love Steph Curry making
those four to three throughout, And it's just one of
those things like is Steph gonna do anything? Is he
gonna do anything? He kind of turned the ball over.
He kind of looked like he didn't care and then
and the last one. I don't I can't even I
can't describe that. Honestly, here's the greatest way to describe. Allright,

(11:00):
but when you're a coach, that's called a no no
no no no no, yes. But I mean it's it's
Steph Curry. And you know, like all the French people
are like, oh, that is Steph Curry. That is what
he does. It is Steph Curry.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
That's his first Olympics, right, Yes, that's crazy. Probably last
that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah, we yapped it out in twenty one, right, he
was hurt in the previous in the one before that.
All right, Sammy, give.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
Me a couple more quickly.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
All right, this is actually just just this one last one.
After the US men won the Olympic Golden Basketball, Devin
Booker went out to the clubs and I loved six
am outside of the club he was at, He's signing autographs,
He's wearing his badass Team USA jacket, and all of
a sudden this he's wearing his medal. And then all

(11:49):
of a sudden, this bicycle appears and he just gets
on it and takes off.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
I thought that was hysterical. He just rides off on a.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Bike into the night into the early morning and Devin
Booker just being a badass were in Paris, loved it,
just riding the bike off after the club six a m.

Speaker 7 (12:05):
Was that the same club that uh Lebron James showed
up like with a gold medal or something and then
told a kid f off or something.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
To want to Yes, that was a weird one. And
then all of a sudden he walked in the club
and then he's flipped back to being Lebron and he
was like dancing into the club.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
It was really awkward and Aisha Cara Curry was brought
to tears by what happened there.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, I think it was the people. There's other people
outside the club that are They're probably going like, hey,
why are you bringing a baby into a club. It's like, well,
the baby's asleep, Like yeah, well you do have dannies?

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Does the baby have I d You know?

Speaker 7 (12:35):
What's the They just wanted to put a wristband on
the baby.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
There was there was what else did I like this week?
Hold there's something else? Oh do you guys see tyres
Halburton's tweet the group project, Yes, he hold up his
gold medal and he said, uh uh. When you don't
put in on the group project, but you're still getting
a like just enjoying them moment, that's pretty awesome, really cool. Alright,

(13:02):
let's get to what we hated on the weekend. Can't
have the you need to balance what J eight.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
I'll start it out, guys, since that was first last
up I touched on this, Dougs, thank you for mentioning
my Sunday show that I do with Carry Rhodes. And
I don't think I could have had a better teammate
yesterday when talking about my hate, and that was the
field for the Arizona Cardinals and their preseason opener against
the Saints. How many times do we have the grass

(13:32):
versus turf argument in sports talk radio and we say
every stadium should have grass. Well, the Cardinals do have
grass and they can't get it right. This is also
a team I tweeted a picture of yesterday during our
show so you can see it. The Cardinals hold training
camp in that stadium because it's so hot. Carrie told

(13:54):
me that there was a time where they went to
Flake Staff because it was cooler when they had training camps.
Not doing it now because you're not going to do
it outside in Phoenix, But if it comes at the
sacrifice of your playing surface, don't you have to figure
out a way to not alter that. And then I
know I would hear, well, they'll just rest it well
once you rather have six months of growing that grass

(14:17):
and making sure that it grows in than just the
one month that maybe you would have between now in
the start of the season. Not even the one month
there were there were worn out patches.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
It just it looked poorly.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
And we're going to have a conversation again about field
conditions throughout the NFL when teams.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
Aren't even taking care of it themselves. So that's what
I hated.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
I hated to see was there were worn out patches
in that stadium on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
J J Jase, you your mister big on hatred, what
you got.

Speaker 7 (14:50):
I hated that the that the women's basketball team came
back and won yesterday. They were down eight even as
much as ten, I want to say, in the and
have and I was already looking forward to the content
that was going to come from the women's basketball team
losing after snubbing Kaitlyn Clark and us getting that what's

(15:13):
her name Cheryl Reeve, you know how she condescends us
and tells us that the WNBA was great before Kaitlyn
Clark and all this stuff. They chose not to take
her and they almost lost. Sam is always quick to
point out that this team has hasn't lost an Olympic
game in like thirty years now. They haven't lost one game,
and for them to lose yesterday would have been such

(15:36):
great content for us because the entire industry would make
fun of the people that didn't choose Kaitlyn Clark, and
it probably probably wouldn't have even been apples to apples
like Caitlin Clark being on the team didn't doesn't mean
they would have won that game, but we would have
all acted like it. She would have won the game,
and that would have been fun. Anyways, I hated that

(15:57):
we won the gold medal yesterday.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Okay, that quick, because I have a different point of view.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Caitlyn Clark would have been the biggest victim if they
would have lost any goodwill that she had made with
other of those w NBA stars over the last couple
of months now, it would have it would have widened
this gap between the two and if if you want
to see the gap widen, then it's all for you
and it continue to have this. I myself kind of

(16:29):
needed a Kaitlyn Clark break anyways, been too much.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
I've been good with these last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
But if they lose, to Jason's point, everybody's talking about it,
and now all of those players are resenting her because
of the conversation that's around her. So any of the
any of the olive branches, or any of the mending
that has gone on between.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
The two sides would have been gone.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
She would have been the biggest loser of them all,
because then she would have been again the most you know,
hated person in the WNBA if they would have lost
that gold medal game.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
True, and that may for good content too.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Other one, well, I will say this one thing about
Caitlin Clark and the WNBA football season. No nobody cares.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
Oh, come on, Doug, I'll still be watching. I got
a lot of stuff to watch this this fall.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
I am. I've kind of had enough of it, like
it's been. It's been going on for a long time
a lot. So yeah, like it was, I needed a break,
And the other part.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Too, it and like, let's just be honest, Like I
know that there will be people go like, well, the
men's game was close, Like the women should be so
much further ahead than the men, right, so much further ahead.
It is not the same not the same world anyway, Sam,
I think you have some matred coming up.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Right, Yeah, I'm going to My hate for this week
is the Jordan Childs metal controversy. I'll just bring people
up to speed here. She initially Jordan Child's a gymnast
floor gymnast, one of Simone Biles's colleagues. She initially scored
a thirteen point sixty sixty six. This was on August fifth,
but her score got increased by one tenth of a

(18:03):
point following a challenge by her coaches, and that actually
moved her from fifth to third and she won a
bronze medal. However, there was a review and Chiles's a
review concluded and Childs's coaches their coaches challenge was deemed
to be too late, so it actually took the medal
away from her and gave it to Romanian gymnast Anna Barbosu.

(18:27):
So I just it's just it's because you feel bad
for both these these ladies. I just feel like, just
just decide it in the moment and just get it
over with. Can't be taking medals away from people and
give it them bronze about the bronze.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
And nobody cares about the bronze because we're like, oh,
we won because we had more bronze medals than anybody.

Speaker 6 (18:44):
But yeah, it's just the whole thing's messy and and
and sad and ugly. It Just just make a decision then,
don't draw it out like this. I hated that so.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Uh. I hated the I hated the break dancing thing.
I mean just made a mockery of everything. Like here
you have some the world's greatest athletes and then you
have breakdancing, and there is literally no difference in the
gold medal. Granted you can win it for break dancing,
but I mean you could say it was for anything,
you know. I mean, do people know how hard these

(19:14):
sports are and then we do breakdancing. I just hated
every part of it, every single part of it. What'd
you love? What'd you hate? Hit us up on social
media at Gottlieb Show, Twitter, at Gatlib Show Instagram. That's
love and hate.

Speaker 3 (19:27):

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Stut Gottlib show, You're on Fox Sports Radio. You know,
there's some things you can count on the NFL. Right,
It's like the Steelers are always going to have a
good defense. Right. It feels like the Ravens are always
going to be super competitive towards the top of their division.

(20:03):
I mean, obviously now the Dolphins have gone like thirty
years in between quarterbacks. When they have quarterbacks, they usually
have a ton of talent where they get rid of
it quickly. You know, certain teams, regardless of player, they
kind of always look the same case Hassan Reddick, who
you'll hear from Dan Byron a little bit, got more
drama with the Jets. The Jets always have some sort
of drama in the preseason. Often Lea's a job in

(20:25):
the regular season. And the Bears are team you can
always count on to have disappointing play at quarterback and
they always have a very rude of entry offense and
a good defense. In the years that they're really good,
they just find a way to score enough points on offense,
and the defense is what carries them. And I don't
want to freak out about Caleb Caleb Williams because it's
only his first game and he didn't play that much.

(20:46):
He didn't play in the Hall of Fame game, and
it's just a rookie who knows he's playing against whatever.
But part of this is I just have faith in
Caleb Williams as a player and think he's really good,
and then you see him and you get confirmation bias
when he makes a couple of throws. More than anything,
it's just he looks like he looks the part. He
looks the part, It looks like he belongs. So of

(21:08):
the things that will look different this year in the NFL,
the Bears having, whether it's competent or at least exciting,
quarterback play, totally different than I mean, the last time
the Bears went to the Super Bowl, Lovey Smith had
to answer questions about who his starting quarterback would be
leading up to the Super Bowl. That's how bad their

(21:29):
quarterback play has been for years. Even when they're good,
it does feel like the Bears got a quarterback all right.
Stuck Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. You know
what we need to do. I actually think we need
to talk about the Cowboys, don't you. We need to
talk about the cowboys, and we need to talk about
the cowboys because they're the cowboys. But plus there's some
interesting stuff going on with the cowboys. So let's cue

(21:49):
that play with part of the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Yeah, let's talk about the cowboys. Why well, because they're
the cowboys. Cow Boy?

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Where have I seen this before? Heard this before? Oh?
Jerry Jones backpedaling right. Here's Jerry Jones last Thursday when
he was asked about the CD Lamb's contract holding. I
don't know why I said, but I'm just saying I.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
Don't have a sense about it.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Make any reason you won't.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
No two days as the Rason Yes put out there.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
So uh.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
So Jerry is saying like, I don't know why I said,
I got no urgency about it, but I do have
some urgency about it. Doesn't it feel like two things? One,
you know, Ceedee Lamb goes and wipes all his social
media clean of anything mentioning Cowboys even though he's under
contract with the Cowboys, and so all of these guys
are the same, like you don't want to give me
a contract, I'll take your name off my Twitter handle.

(22:58):
And then Jerry Jones acquiesces and gives a guy a
bigger contract than he was ever going to get previously. Right,
That's what happened with Ezekie Elliott. That's what happens, you know,
with Dak Prescott. That's what has tendency to happen, doesn't it.

Speaker 8 (23:13):
You know, here's more, Jerry, Now I understand completely the
anks that's happening when you are anxious about and someone
says anything about whether you're missed or not, well city,
you're missed, okay, but you're not missed out here competing,
and it doesn't put any pressure any place on us.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah, that makes note. That is word. That is the
definition of word salad. I'm even sure it's a good salad.
Now what it does and it doesn't do? Does anybody
think that anything happens other than ceedee lamb ends up
with the biggest contract in the history of the sport
for wide receiver, right, I mean buyer. You have to like,
we know how this ends. Yes, it always ends the

(23:55):
same with Jerry.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Yes, we think yes, and he ends up overpaying.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
That's what I mean yep, and then he actually he
meant to do it all along, like dude.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Sure, but the only difference here, like would be like
because the Dak situation, you know, he gave Zeke his
contract early, they played out Dak at the end of
his deal, then they had to overpay him despite giving
him an extension earlier. This to the point of, yeah,
he usually pays the person, he's done that in the past. True,
but if they don't do it now, they'll just pay

(24:28):
him the next time.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
And so yeah, he'll get Jack waiting today.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yeah, I just I feel the same. I feel like
we know he's going to overpay him. It's just a
question of when does he do it and what order
does he do it in. You know, Steven Jones has
got to be like, oh yeah, Dad stepped in it again,
But what are you gonna do. He owns the team,
so he can own his own They can do what
the heck they want. It's a weird one.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
It seems like was that was a couple of weeks ago.
Dam probably knows better than me, but Jerry made some
comment like this is not my first radio rodeo. Like
when we're talking about people holding out or wanting contract extensions,
and he just kind of condescended the medium. It was like,
I've done many of these, right, But I would argue this,

(25:14):
he hasn't done many of these with gen.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
Z twenty somethings.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
I dare you to watch one episode of The Bachelorette
and not come away with the fact that gen Z
men are over sensitive people. And when you say something
like there isn't an urgency to get this done or
he won't be missed or something like that, I think
it's going to be taken a lot worse by this

(25:43):
generation than the other generations he's been negotiating with for
the last thirty years. I think Ceedee Lamb reacted the
way he did because that's what his generation does. And
I don't think Jerry Jones when he says this isn't
his first radio rodeo, I don't think that he knows
about this particular rodeo with this generation.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, I just think I think it's a combination of things.
I think part of it is that he always just
says dumb things. He actually he says things that really
make sense. He's just not willing to take up the
heat because what was the what was the running back

(26:25):
that he said, uh when he said Zeke, who, who's there?
Tony Pollard? Right, Tony Pollard had a great preseason game.
He's like Zeke who, Like, why don't he meant it?

Speaker 5 (26:34):
Stick with it?

Speaker 8 (26:35):
Right?

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Zeke? Who? Who cares about Zeke? Tony Pollar? Could? You
could have saved millions there? And now you're like, well,
I'm not. I'm not in a rush. You don't have
to be in a rush. This is a huge year.
You're all in on this year. All right, CDI, we'll
get to you. Here's what we're gonna do. You know,
here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna sit here and

(26:57):
we're gonna see if you have a great year. If
you have a great year, we'll probably sign you the
biggest contract in the history of sport as a wide receiver.
But if not, we'll either get rid of Dak. We'll
get rid of you. We can sign and we can
trade you. We can do a lot of different things.
I actually think he means what he says, and like,
like you said, guys are more sensitive. But then he's
not willing to he's not really willing to feel the
heat from those agents.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Yeah, it feels like when he was talking about Dak
and Dak being all in that like he's putting the
pressure on Dak to do his absolute best so Dak
could get a contract. Like that's what I I That's
what Jerry tried to say in you know, we are
all in. Dak's all in, meaning like, yeah, you better
play this season at your absolute best otherwise you're going

(27:39):
to be a free agent and not be back. But
that's also just not really the reality of the NFL, right,
So and and again they you know, I know I
mentioned it a lot, but Dak broke his leg and
still got a huge deal, yes, Like that was the
whole deal leading up that season, is like, what are
you gonna do with with Dak? He's there, you know,

(28:00):
your quarterback? Is he your quarterback in the future? Are
you gonna commit? Worst case scenario was Dek broke his
leg and we all saw it on national TV and
he still got a new deal, Like Jerry still paid
him to that point. So that's to the point of
Dak where I'm like, why are you playing chicken when
we feel like it's already gonna you know, to your point, Doug,

(28:20):
people are gonna get their money. And look, they may
play pay Parsons, Lamb and Dak. They're not gonna have
anything else.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
But yes, I think they're gonna pay all of them.
I think that's that's one reason they're waiting is they're
trying to figure out what do we do with Dak
and they want to keep Dak, but Dak keeps spitting
up all of himself in the playoffs. I mean, that
game was over at the half last year and Dak
Prescott was the reason why.

The way tire buying should be. Uh. Let's get to
the press, the press. What do you have there?

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Dan byer Doug A couple of things to clean up
from the Olympic Games. Let's start with men's basketball. Sports
Betting dot Ag has released odds looking ahead to Team
USA's chances of winning gold here in La in twenty
twenty eight. The United States right now listed as a
one to two favorite to claimed gold, France at four

(30:09):
to one, Canada at five to one, while Serbia is
ten to one. Just to compare it to the odds
of twenty twenty four and what just occurred, US was
a one to five favorite. France was eight to one,
Canada eleven to one, Serbia sixteen to one. So that
gap is closing well.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
And remember if you think like home court advantage matters, no,
it doesn't. We had the World Championships in Indie, and
that's when Argentina first won the World championships, so a
lot of times playing at home can bring more pressure,
especially the Americans were already dealing with a ton of pressure.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
We've also listed some odds on the chances of Kevin Durant,
Steph Curry, and Lebron James returning Durant two to one,
Curry three to one, Lebron five to one.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Yeah, I mean I could see I could see Lebron
wanting to do it in four years and just be
like captain, assistant coach, whatever. I don't think you'll see
another from Steph Curry or Kevin Rant.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Doug lost in yesterday's gold medal win for the United
States women's basketball team as France had to settle for silver.
Was how France handled the final seconds of those games?
Of that game, did you see the shot at the
end like you saw the girl's foot was on the line,
like completely nowherewithal of where you are on the court.

(31:33):
You understand it's a rough situation.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
You got to know your court geography.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yes, yes, an absolute and absolute faux pas on the
part of the French which had them fall one point short.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Is faux pall a French word, by the way, or
is it Latin I you know, I thought maybe it
was French. I think I think it's I think it's French.

Speaker 7 (31:53):
I think I think it is French.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
It is very nice, very nice. As a coach though,
is not being confused with fague fau gras, which is liver.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
Right, also French, also French.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
But as a coach, you're watching that when you you know,
you see a player do that, even their coaches like two.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Three, Yeah, I mean we do it every day with it.
We want to put like a shot collar on him
for when they step out of bounds in the corner.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
What does it?

Speaker 2 (32:22):
This is your.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Corgeography electric fence.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
But there's there's also the uh the strategy used by
the Americans where Kaleia Cooper made both free throws, which
is what you talked about a lot on this show, Doug,
with coach k not choosing to do as there.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Was because then even if she throws it in, okay,
then even if she throws it in worst case scenario,
the game goes overtime. Whereas if you missed that pre
throw on purpose, they throw it in, you lose the game.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Yes, and there were three point eight seconds left in
yesterday's game between the US and France that Duke Butler scenario.
So there were three point six seconds left and Heyward
still got the shot off from half court. Now half
court is different than where she ended up shooting it from,
but they made the free throw, they allowed then the inbounds.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
But just thought some interesting, totally interesting.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Yeah on how that was played, and we kind of
glossed over it because we talked so much about how
close it was and Caitlin Clark and whatnot. But France
with the big air. All right, Jets pass rusher Hassan
Reddick wants out of New York even though we just
got there after being traded there by the Eagles. This offseason,
Jets GM Joe Douglas released the statement saying not only

(33:38):
will they not trade Reddick, that they'll continue to find
him if he doesn't show up.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
I like it, you know, listen. I think we all
operate on the belief that they traded for him and
offered him a new contract. You can trade for a
guy and go like, hey, dude, do we have you
in her contract? We can do whatever we want afterwards.
I just it doesn't seem to work in the NFL.
Like the hardline dances. But we'll see, especially when you
trade for a guy. But I would say this, like,
here's what I'll side with Joe Douglas, Like, heyde, if

(34:03):
you want that contract, go play. You know you are
allowed to go play and earn it.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
College football Top twenty five poll is out. We've touched
on it somewhat.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Texas and Oklahoma excuse me, in Alabama are four and five, Georgia,
Ohio State, Oregon one two three. As for the ACC,
we told you, Florida State is ranked tenth, the seminoles
in the Miami Hurricanes coming in at number nineteen, and
then See State at number twenty four. Right now, the

(34:35):
only teams oh excuse me, man I skipped over Clemson
clemsons that at fourteen. Those of your ACC representatives. The
highest ranked Big twelve team is Utah coming in at
number twelve. Doug, your alma mater, Oklahoma State is at seventeen.
Kansas State comes in at eighteen, with Arizona and Kansas
making the preseason Top twenty five at twenty one and

(34:55):
twenty two respectively.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, Lance Leopold just continues to impress. Course this year
they won't have their on campus stadium, so they're going
to play where Sporting KC plays in a play at
Arrowhead as well. But you know, look, the voters have spoken,
they believed the Big ten s toc have all the players.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Yep, no sign of things to come.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
Ye, mark your calendars for November twelfth, That's when KLAYT
Thompson will make his return to Golden State. Is the
Mavericks guard will join his new teammates to face his
old teammates, the Warriors. As NBA schedule leaks are coming out,
Opening night's going to be the Knicks at Celtics, Timberwolves
at the Lakers, the NBA Finals rematch, which honestly, I

(35:35):
don't think we care too much about except saying that
it's a finals rematch. Celtics at the MAVs January fifteenth,
and then the return trip to Boston February sixth. Clippers
will open their new home, the Intuit Dome, against the
Suns on October twenty third.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Are you into it?

Speaker 4 (35:51):
I noticed last night in the Olympic presentation in LA,
they were using none of these sponsored names. So when
they were talkedking about Crypto formerly known as Staples Center,
they said the arena where many championships have been won,
will be home to gymnastics, and then they said this
domed facility will be the brand new facility will be

(36:15):
home to the basketball.

Speaker 5 (36:16):
Events in twenty twenty eight. Completely skipped over that.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
And are you allowed to do that? I guess you're
allowed to do it if you don't mention anything.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Well, yeah, the Olympics, there's no tie into them, so
they're not going to use the names. They're going to
just gloss and call it the place. Jared Durham, the
Red Sox ha spended two games for using an anti
gay slur. Last night, Dodgers activated Mookie Betts from the
il Doug that's the press, thet they're in pressed.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
That was the press.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
All right, that's it for the Doug Gottlieb show again.
I just the thing to snapshot. I thought Stap should
have been the MVP because MVP is usually the best
player that helps you win the most and step he
wasn't the best player, but I mean, seventeen threes in
the last two games. He won the game. And we
decide who's the best based upon the last couple months

(37:08):
of the game, he was the best. Anyway. We getting
debates some more tomorrow. Check Out the End The Bonus Podcast.
