It's it's that time of year. You're like, what time

(00:46):
is that, Doug, Well, it's some places Indian summer really
hot some days and some places starting to cool off.
Many of us looking forward to Labor Day weekend, which
is a you know, a week away. You know, kids
you're starting I'm starting to get that age everywhere my timeline.
Everybody's moving their kids into college. That's kind of a
cool thing. I got second one moving in tomorrow and

(01:09):
into the weekend. In Boston. But it's that time of
year where I don't know if you guys have it
on your watch. I know that Dan used to set
his watch to it, which is awkward. Russell Wilson quote,
time of year. Man, You're like, oh, yeah, this is
like year I don't know, fifteen ish of awesome, awkward

(01:30):
Russell Wilson quote, time of year. Right, there was the
was it Broncos Nation? Let's Ride? There was the Mited Limited.
But as lots of people have been talking about Tua
Tongue of Ailoa and the comments he made about his
former head coach, Brian Flores, You've seen reporters going back

(01:54):
to the players that they cover, the quarterbacks that they
cover and asking them about what I because when you
listen to Tua, obviously Flores affected him, and he did
say that Flora is a horrible person. That's a hard one.
He didn't go like, well he's not they get a
coach or he was super harsh. He also said he's,

(02:15):
you know, terrible person. Yeah, that's a hard one to
get over. And the other part too, is somebody says
you're a terrible person, It's like, how do you prove
that you're not, I mean just over time and the
people you deal with. But that was the impression that
you left. But the other part two, it is like
Tua clearly was affected by these things. And and Jason
you pointed out before fairly so that gen Z you

(02:39):
got a little bit more sensitivity, a lot more sensitive.
Now there's a lot more daily negativity out there, right,
if we're if we're honest, yes, the the athlete now
is a lot of them are much more sensitive than
they've been. Things affect them a lot more because they
haven't been they haven't been built up that resilience. They

(03:03):
haven't been benched or haven't had to work their way
to being a starter. Right, they're completely and totally entitled.
If we don't like the way it works here, we
go somewhere else where we do. And when you haven't
suffered through a year or two of sitting there holding
the clipboard, or if somebody telling you you're not good
enough you need to get better, well, you don't know
how to handle it when somebody does. And then you

(03:25):
factor in that there's negativity on TV, there's negativity on
the radio, there's negativity in podcasts, and if you listen
to all of it. There's more because you go back
thirty years ago, there wasn't daily sports radio shows the
vast number. There wasn't debate shows where they crushed dudes
on TV. Go back and watch when we were kids,
and generally the people were covered with kid gloves, right

(03:48):
they we just were. It was all kind of fluff.
But I thought that there is something interesting to two
comments to quote backs, one younger or the other. Here's
Russell Wilson when he was asked if he listens to
his critics, how much do.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
You need to hear that doubt now externally to motivate
you and keep you going at this stage.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I never had it to keep me going.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I've never been.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I've just never been worried about what other people think.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
I think.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Ultimately, I focus on you know, as I mentioned you guys,
and obviously my faith means everything to me. You know,
God chose me for this, and he chose me to
play this game.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I'm one of thirty.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Two men in the world to get to do what
you do, and you know, you get to, you know,
play this game every day, and you know, there's eight
billion people in the world and for whatever reason, I
get to be one of these guys, you know, fortunate
guys get to do this and walk into these white lines.
And so, man, I always got to have great faith
and just great belief. And so that's just kind of
in my spirit of me every day, you know. And

(04:53):
so for me, I don't really focus on the outside
part of I just focus on what God put in
the inside and in terms of you know, who He
chose me to be, and and just focus on that
part of it and then work your butt off every day.
You know this This is the part where you know,
you just work on the fundamentals, you work on your craft.
You're obsessed with it. You're obsessed with learning. You know,
you know that part of it. And uh, that's the

(05:14):
part that makes it great.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
There's a lot of words sound in there. You just
you know who God meant me to be, right hmmm,
man I, look, I love the idea of you just work,
put your head down and work through the work, don't
worry about anything else. But there's just a lot of
kind of cheese to it. Here's Lamar Jackson. They're taking

(05:37):
on the packers today in a joint practice. Here's Lamar
Jackson on his critics.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
I you know, I'm motivating myself because I know what
I want to do. At the end of the day.
You know, those guys have their time, you know, I can't.
I really don't care what the criticism is, you know
what the critics say, because at the end of the day,
you know, I just came off cheating in the injury
of the year before and we made it all the
way to the ALC in the new system, you know.
So it's nothing to be down in myself, my teammates

(06:02):
or anything like that, you know, because we made it
far and further than the years we've been you know,
we haven't been to the scene a long time, so
you know, we just got to keep going and you know,
guys will we'll be there, you know, because that's our goal.
You know, we critici criticized ourselves more than anyone else.
So what people say on the outside, that's just their takes,
you know, and they can believe in what they want
to believe. But we know what we want, you know,

(06:23):
we know what we're striving for. So that's all I
can say about it.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Miss Adam stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Yeah,
so again we get to this place. You can listen
to too many people and you can listen to no one,
and neither is gonna get you where you want to
go now, Lamar Jackson, he appeared to be talking about

(06:46):
former players, you know, other foreign players and anybody who's
been critical by the way, like Tom Brady just said
he's one of the top four quarterbacks in the NFL.
Tom Brady's seen as the goat right, incredibly successful. Lady
says what he's doing is the good, right thing, then
just keep doing it. I found that our profession is

(07:07):
a great snapshot of how most of the world works
in terms of feedback. Right now, me personally, I do
I challenge. It doesn't always feel good, but sometimes you
gotta get some negative feedback. I don't think most people

(07:29):
like feedback and negative feedback. I think what they want
is somebody important telling them they're awesome. But I do
understand that when you're in a position like quarterback, where
confidence is so incredibly important, you don't want to be
questioning yourself. So constant negativity can be a lot, especially
when you're not used to it. But this idea of
I don't listen to any of that that is just

(07:52):
not true. Now, do I think they sit there and
they're listening to my show driving to and from work.
Probably not. Do I think they listen to my pods?
Probably not. But they're not blind, deaf, or dumb. Every
locker room you're in has usually NFL Network. The NFL
ones have NFL Network on most of the event all network.
Major League Baseball players watch MLB Network. By the way,

(08:13):
I'll just tell you this, like it's interesting because I
actually think MLB Network, and I know you guys watch
it a ton as well. I kind of think their
product's better than NBA Network and the NFL network. I
think it's really good. You know. Their issue is that
people just don't love watching baseball as much. They're just
bored by it. But the actual product on TV and
how they talk about the games and how interesting and

(08:34):
you know, like it's really interesting. I think they probably
do a better job than anybody anyway. The point is,
like we can sit there and act like you don't
hear the criticism, you don't hear the negativity, and a
lot of it. You don't like you're a quarterback like
those guys are in it. Like seven in the morning,
they're out in the afternoon evening. If you're older, you know,
you roll out and you're on your phone, or you

(08:56):
get out of a meeting and it's five six seven
at night, music to go home. Like. You can be
a sports fan, but that's your that's work. You don't
always bring home. So some of it's believable. The idea
of I never listened to any of these guys, I
don't buy it, But I think there's a happy medium,

(09:17):
and you have to be somewhere in the middle. You
can't be the listen to everybody, because that's the old
Jerry Sloan h it was more about coaching. The Jerry
Sloan's also a gret player. When you listen to the
fans for too long, you become one of them and
you listen to nobody and now, all of a sudden,
how are you ever going to grow? And oh, yeah,

(09:39):
by the way, some negativity is some motivation, and that
motivation can be a good thing. Knowing yourself. I think
when Russell Wilson kind of goes God on us, I
just try to be God want me to be.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
What if God told him that that he's not checking
off as second receiver, that well, what if what if.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
God told him, Well, the big problem last year was
he wouldn't listen to Sean Payton. He kept trying to
his own thing. Maybe you know that reminds me of
the the have you ever heard the I don't know
if it's a joke or it's an old folk tale
or whatever, of the guy who's stranded on a raft
and uh, and you know, like a little rowboat comes

(10:24):
by and he's like, no, I'm okay, God will save me.
And then like a speedboat goes by. He's like, that's okay,
God will save me. Then a big, big, big aircraft
carrier comes comes by. He's like, that's okay, God will
save me, right, and then he ends up dying of
like dehydration in the sea. And he's like at the

(10:45):
gate with Saint Peter's like I thought Gad would save me.
He's like, we sent you rowboat, we send you a speedboat.
We spend it, Like what do you want us to do?
Sometimes people don't know where the help actually sits. Dan
was Russell Wilson always awkward? Was he always awkward to media?
Or that change over him?

Speaker 6 (11:08):
It absolutely changed.

Speaker 7 (11:09):
And it's funny because you were talking about it a
bit earlier when you were giving all the different versions
that he did, and I was going to jump in, but.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
You moved off of it.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
The peak of it, like the jump the shark moment,
I feel was unlimited. I feel at that point you
couldn't take anything that he said as serious analysis or
uh like a true feeling that wasn't cosmetic or made
for the cameras, because for a while at the start

(11:40):
of his career this positivity was thought to be this
is amazing, this is coming from a third round pick,
This rookie is well beyond his years. But I feel
like the unlimited clip is the one where A jumped
the shark, and he was never the same as how
we viewed when he.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Spoke, M do you buy the I don't listen to.

Speaker 6 (12:06):
Anybody unknown, not at all.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I think of all people, Russell Wilson listens to a
lot of people. That's why he is how he is.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
Yeah, yeah, I agree, because that's also that's why he
does this. That's why he says the things he says.
He doesn't say it for himself, he says it for
other people because he wants to hear him say.

Speaker 6 (12:28):
Man.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Russell Wilson is great. Look at that positive attitude. Man,
I love Russell Wilson. He's the best. Yeah, so that's
why he says it.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, And people don't say that anymore, so that he
just doesn't listen to it. I guess I don't know.

should be ted. Win's going to join us coming up
in about five six minutes or so. He's the NFL
writer covering the National Football League. He also does a

(13:41):
prolific film analysis. We'll get to that upcoming. But this
was John Lynch, of course, former Fox employee and a
great football players, the general manager of the San Francisco
forty nine ers, talking about his two high profile holdings,
Trent Williams and Brendan Ayuk on a San Francisco radio station. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (14:01):
I'm not going to get in all the details, you know.
I think we're in a tenuous and time where everything
that is said can be examined and all that. So
we're just going to leave it at that, no updates
and continue to work. I know fans are eager leah
waiting in the seasons right around the corner. I can
tell everybody this. We feel the urgency to get all

(14:23):
our players back. We're very excited about our team and
those are two guys that have been a big part
of us, a huge part of our success. So we'd
like to have them both back.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
In the fold.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
H Okay, we'd like to have both back and fold.
There is some urgency they want to get them back
and really like right now you're like the teams have
the leverage. Anything you want to do, you're going to
have to play in order to do. You know, and remember,

(14:57):
Trent Williams is a really, really good football player. There
have been times in his career I would say great
football player. I think now he's more really good. He
did have some struggles at the end of the year
he was not as good. He aged a little bit,
but he's also a supreme leader of that of that
offensive line. But look, Trent Williams has said I want
out before going back to his days in Washington and
eventually got out. So he does have the fortitude and

(15:19):
probably the money to stand up and say, hey, I'm
not going to do it. But the reality is this
is a Super Bowl, a potential Super Bowl team. It's
probably in this window. You're creeping up on the last
year or two of this window, just because at some
point you got Preay brock perty and that's going to
change the dynamic. Somebody's got to go in the roster.
But John Lynn's just like you, submergency. We got to

(15:41):
get some of the stuff done here. Time to start coming.
It's time to put the helmet and shoulder pads on
the other part to it is the longer you wait
if you haven't played. It's not like you can just
hop in and play NFL football, no matter how much.
We don't think that much of the first couple weeks
of the season, and I think I don't know. I
think it was Jay Stu talking about how the longer schedule,

(16:04):
people don't care as much about the regular season, even teams.
That's been a trend that. But you're more likely to
get hurt if you haven't taken those reps. I would
suspect both will be back next week in San Francisco.
That's that's my expectations and playing playing. It's Dog Gottlieb Show.
This is Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you from

(16:25):
the tiraq dot com studios. Ted Winn joins us. Of course,
he's NFL writer for the Athletic. He's also a prolific
film analyst. He joins us in the Doug Gottlieb Show
on Fox Sports Trader Ted, how.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
Are you, Jill?

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Well, how are you?

Speaker 1 (16:41):
I'm great, and it's awesome to catch up. You know,
it's interesting we're headed into this NFL season and if
I would have told you that that Russell Wilson was
not only a stealer, but a guy who not everybody,
myself included, is is convinced he can still play. Like

(17:01):
you go back two years ago and you'd be like,
you're an idiot, There's no way. But that's really part
of the conversation. What are your thoughts on what Russell
Wilson's going to be like with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, you know, I think I'm kind of excused at
this notion that Russell Wilson is like the safe choice
at quarterback and he's going to be the stadying hand
at the position, because that's what He's never been like
that in his career. He's been a guy that holds
onto the ball. It's going to take a lot of
stacks and he's not those ball deep and at his peak,

(17:35):
when he had the mobility to get away from pass
rushers and make those plays, things were good. But you know,
we saw that mobility kind of ceriate. We saw a
little bit of it in his last games in Seattle
where it just made a lot tougher to play that
type of style. And I think in Denver that final year,
Sean Payton really helped out his career by making things

(17:57):
very simple for him to either throw deep or you
check the ball down, and you know sometimes on third
down you can try to make up Russell Wilson magic,
and that formula worked out for them, But to me,
it's just not a formula of that it's going to
win you a lot of games. So you know, maybe
he does have more experience than justin field, and maybe

(18:17):
he has a better grasp to the offense, but I
just don't see a very high feeling And I don't
think he's just steadying hand at quarterback that the Steelers
spratses make.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
Him out to be.

Speaker 8 (18:28):
No.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
I agree. The other part to it is and it's
funny you pointed out I've said this a couple of times.
You're like, look, if he just gets it, gets rid
of it quick Like have you ever watched Russell Wilson
play football? Right, anybody watching it. There's a lot of
great things he's done over the years. No one has
ever said, you know, he does he gets rid of
it really quickly.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
Right.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
That was you know, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, you know
some of those guys, they get rid of it really
quickly before anybody can ever get to him. That's not
Russell Wilson. I just don't know how that how that works.
I just I just don't. Okay, help me out here.
There are some people that are predicting the Saints are

(19:05):
going to have a good year in the NFC South. Now,
I guess my questions are, what are your thoughts a
quarterback there?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
You know, as a guy who started my career started
covering the Raiders and watching a lot of Derek Carr,
you know, I think in the right system, with the
right pieces around him, he can be a fringe top
ten type of quarterback. But he's just been mostly disappointing
throughout his career. And the biggest thing with him is

(19:35):
just his pocket presence. When pressure starts coming has play deteriorates,
and when he has a very strong offensive line, he
can look great. But right now the Saints have possibly
the worst offensive line in football, and that's not a
good formula to go with Derek Carr. They do have
some weapons on outside and Alvin Kamara, who's still one

(19:57):
of the best threats out of the backfield, but I
just think with this offensive line and Derek Carr, that's
that's a bad combination to go into a season with Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
I tend to agree with you, and I'm not as
big a Derek Carr guy, but you are and still
think it's a bad line. Jordan Love one good year
where there were some weeks there where he's awesome, there
were some weeks there when he was average, gets a
huge contract, still has a young team, pretty good offensive line.
But it feels like there's a lot of praise he'd done.

(20:29):
A guy who usually were like, I got to see
it a couple of years. What do you think year
two as a full time starter looks like?

Speaker 10 (20:37):
Yeah, you know, I think because of his unique situation
where he was strapped in the first round, didn't play,
and then all of a sudden he's in a contract year,
you know, the one year you really have.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
To evaluate him.

Speaker 10 (20:50):
You know, that kind of put you.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
In a tough spot where you know, he did play
very well. His statistics at the end of the year
were very good. So you kind of have to pay
him when you pay him, because that's just how the
mark it is nowadays. But you know, I was never
a big Jordan Love guy, but then I watched the
film and really studied the Packers' offense, and he's kind
of sold me too. You know, I really liked what

(21:12):
he did, especially towards the end of the game. I
thought at the end of the year. I thought at
the beginning of the season, he had a very young
receiving staff that made a lot of mistakes. They would
run into each other drop passes. Then as they got
better and more acclimated into the offense, that's when Jordan
Love really started taking off. You could see that trust within,

(21:34):
you know, with each other, and I think, you know,
that's going to build it. The next year they have
a very young receiving corps, all under twenty four years old.

Speaker 10 (21:44):
We don't know who's.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Going to be a breakout guy. Maybe they have two
three breakout guys. Maybe they don't have any breakout guys.
But I think when you're watching a film on Love,
he is very good in the quick game, and you
know he just makes throws that only maybe a handful
of guy to make, and you know he kind of
fixed that mold of what you want in the new
prototype of quarterback. So it obviously is not great that

(22:08):
you only have kind of like a half a year
sample size of very good play. But just because of
this contract situation and how things worked out and the
market it is now, that's that's just the you kind
of have to pay him.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Kind of had to pay on if you had to
pay him that much, but they had to pay him.
Edwin joining his NFL writer for The Athletic Prolific Film Analyst. Okay,
so what does the film look like on Deshaun Watson?

Speaker 2 (22:36):
He just doesn't. I mean, it's kind of stunning how
different he looks with the Texans and how he looks now.
He's not accurate.

Speaker 10 (22:44):
He doesn't even.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Look as mobile as he did before. And you know,
with the Texans, he was such a good deep ball
thrower and he was such an aggressive passer. He was
just so confident in doing that. But he just does
not look sure of anything he's doing anymore. And he
has good pieces around him. He has a good player,

(23:05):
play caller and Kevin Stefanski. So it's really just stunning
the difference of how he looked with the Texans and
how he looks now. And you know, he has a
guaranteed contract, but I just feel like if he doesn't
pick up his play this year, the Browns are going
to have to try to do something at the quarterback position.
Because he can't just keep sprigging him out looking the

(23:28):
way he is right now.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Yeah, I mean we go, uh, we go back a
couple of years ago, and you're like, well, you know,
you had a year off. It's taken a while, and
there just hasn't been anything that's that's changed. That's that's
that's moved in, moved the moved the needle there. Really,
I do feel like, and again you watch the film,
that's your job, that's what you do. In addition to

(23:50):
writing for the athletic. Uh, Matt Stafford still feels like,
for whatever reason, he doesn't get mentioned in that top group.
What's the film look like on Stafford? A guy who
who had a bounce back year last year after the
really tough injury the year before.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yeah, I think maybe his image is kind of marred
by just his time in Detroit and just not looking
like a number one pick and you know, losing losing
so much. But when you watch the film on Matt Stafford,
now he's one of the funnest guys to watch an
NFL Like he's you know, throwing you know, sixty yard

(24:27):
deep balls with different arm angles and making no look
past this and he's just like this trick shot artist
that will try anything within a posseate on the run
off platform. And you know, obviously he's playing for one
of the best offensive minds of football with Sean McVay,
and then this offense is just revanced by finding Pooka Nakua,

(24:48):
who is you know, the star receiver, and you pair
him with Cooper Cup and it's just this really fun
combination to watch. And like I mentioned, I just think,
you know, he's just one of the most unique throwers
in the lead, and it's really fun to watch with
all the weapons he have in this in the system.
And if you've ever watched Matthew Stafford throw live, it's

(25:11):
a really impressive thing. I mean, I remember when he
was playing with the Lions and he came to Raiders
camp and I was just watching him throw and I
was just blown away, like he's one of the most
impressive throwers.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
You kind of watch a live Stut Gottlieb show here
on Fox Sports Radio, and our guest had Win of
course covers football for the Athletic Let me ask about
Aaron Rodgers four plays last year year before that with
the Packers. Obviously, the collapse and the loss to Detroit
at home. We're a year older. They seem to fix

(25:43):
the line. He does have some weapons now, But how
good What should our expectations of Aaron Rodgers be?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I mean, I think if this Jets team could stay healthy,
we should expect a year where he's you know, you know,
I really think that. I really don't think that his
game has deterior is to a point where he shouldn't
be challenging for MVP if he's healthy. But the thing
is that Jets roster is just like held together by string,

(26:13):
Like everybody is injury prone. They're depending on Tyron Smith
stay healthy. He's been injury prone. Elijah Arraic Tucker is
one of their best overall players. He's injury prone.

Speaker 10 (26:24):
And we know Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Injured achilles last season and there's some tape of him
running around where it looks like maybe he's not completely healed. So,
you know, when you look at this roster, you look
at their names, you think this could be a team
that is going to be one of the top teams
in AFC with that defense and the potential they have
on offense. But Candy's guys stay healthy. That's a huge question.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Gigantic question. Ded, listen, I can't wait for the season
to start. Really appreciate your insight. The film doesn't lie
you watch it, you break it down for us. We'll
talk to you very very soon. Okay, that's as Ted
Winn joining us, who, of course the NFL right for
the athletic. He does that film analysis. That's really really good.

up the air. Let's get to the press, the press,
Dan Byer, what do you got monch?

Speaker 7 (28:23):
It's been quite the week for Aaron Judge. First of all,
put smack dab in the middle of the debate on
who's more popular him or Caitlin Clark. That was last week.
Now this week he's had to deal with a little
league coach who felt that Judge was rude to a
squad at the World Series. A Little League World Series,
that is Bob Liturns. I'm making the comments earlier this

(28:44):
week that have made the headlines. But the Yankees firing
back yesterday. In a statement to ESPN, the Yankees said
Aaron Judge always acts with kindness and respect. The coach
could learn a lot from him. Aaron Boone and others
are also come in to the defense of Aaron Judge
for apparently not doing what the little league coach wanted

(29:06):
him to do. The Stanton Island Little League coach. When
Judge was asked about it, he says, I'm not going
to give a response.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
Because it's about the kids. This is what it's all about.
End quote.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Yeah. I mean, I've never heard anyone say Aaron Judge
wasn't a great dude, And I actually I love what
the Yankees did standing up for their player, but also
basically saying like, look, he's a good dude. There's a
even if you did have a legit issue, there's a
way of doing it, Like just go to the Yankees
and go, what's the guys deal. It's in the middle
of a game. It's like a real baseball game. So

(29:40):
I think that this is one where Aaron Judge has
earned such equity, not just within Major League Baseball, but
specifically with the Yankees that I cannot believe they stood
up for him. It's the right thing to do, But
I most teams would acquiesce so much. What can we do?
Get you a bat, gets your ball? You go meet
Aaron Judge, meet the Yankees. They're like, dude, we'd love
to have you in Yankee Stadium. We wish you the best,

(30:02):
but your your coach is a jackwagon.

Speaker 7 (30:06):
The funny thing is as well, is that Judge ended
up meeting with other players as well. It's just how
is he supposed to know who is who and who
is from where? So his luck he doesn't, you know,
acquiesce to the Stanton Island kids and the coach is
all mad about it.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Correct, it's a it's such a shirty pool to say
these are your pain customers. I think that's such a
low blow, like that's so unwarranted and that shows you
just how cheap this coaches for doing that. I hate
this story for that reason.

Speaker 7 (30:43):
Especially because they're still talking about but at least we're
doing it on the flip side.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Do you guys watch the Little League World Series?

Speaker 6 (30:51):
I like, I like to have it on. I do.
I have it on in our studio right now.

Speaker 7 (30:55):
Venezuela's leading Japan winner goes to the International champion Chip
three to two right now, bottom of the fourth inning
in favor of Venezuela when it gets Chinese Taipei in
that International Championship game.

Speaker 6 (31:10):
I do because I just like to think that I
could hit bombs.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Yeah there, yeah, what Venezuela's winning or losing?

Speaker 6 (31:18):
They're winning.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Yeah, they're supposed to be awesome, right, I.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
Have no idea, And I just saw this so much.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Some seal on them that they're just like the most
dominant and all these guys are gigantic, and you're just
like they came here to win that.

Speaker 7 (31:30):
I take it at its surface for just of what
it is. I'm not sure about the interest of it.
I will also say this William's Port looks magnificent in
late August. Pennsylvania been a few times. I think it's
one of the most underrated beautiful states that you talk
about when you talk about scenery. Maybe not entirely underrated,

(31:53):
but I think a lot of times you talk about
Hawaii or Doug you vacation in Montana, Pennsylvania's beautiful, and
they have it in Williamsport.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
I think it's a great, great feel. I love the
small town feel around it, neighborhood houses by the park.
I think it's I think it's an awesome event.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
I do too, I just can't see. I don't when
it's it's on everywhere like you go, it's always on,
but I find myself rarely getting kind of pulled into
watching anymore.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Yeah, I just it's I think it's a nice easy watch,
you know, like cruising along. Some news in the NFL,
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the starters
will not play against the Giants on Saturday in the
preseason finale.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
So he didn't play at all, which is kind of
what we were told was gonna happen. I just I
have no idea what that team's gonna look like to
start the season. My guess is inconsistent because they haven't
played together.

Speaker 7 (32:50):
Sure, and you know what, they're probably not going to
beat the Niners anyway on the road and Monday night football,
it actually may turn out better for them. And then
the game at San Francisco is their toughest game on
their schedule. I mean, traveling to San Francisco Tea made
to the Super Bowl. Obviously, it's going to be a

(33:12):
tough game. But I feel it's manageable after that. So
if you get those kinks out in that first game, yeah,
who knows.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
And listen, we don't know how what San Francisco look like.
You know, they've they've been without a couple of their
stars the entire preseason as well. I don't know if
I'd go that's their toughest game. That's a really tough game,
really tough. I mean, look, the Titans the second game,
just just because the Titans are the same thing as
the Jets. No, I mean there's more expectations of the Jets,
but I don't know what the Titans are going to

(33:40):
look like on the road. Those are big games. I
would say they have that. The Jets have that stretch
late in the year where they go Dolphins, Jags, Rams
at Buffalo, at Dolphins at Jag.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
None of them are tougher than the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Right, No, right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're
right now, you're in this case, you're very right.

Speaker 7 (34:00):
The Eagles have traded for wide receiver Johan Dotson from
the Washington Commanders. Dotson, a first round pick at one point,
flashed at times for Washington, but also then disappeared in others.
Another indivisional trade between the Eagles and Commanders maybe the
most famous, the Donovan McNabb deal.

Speaker 6 (34:22):
Wouldn't you say yes completely?

Speaker 1 (34:25):
And it showed us that you only trade in the
vision when you think a guy can't play right? Yes,
So does that mean they think John Dotson can't play
slot guy guy.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
Yeah, not their regime. They didn't draft him.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
That's a big thing. Any of these trades that are
being made are by guys that are drafted by somebody else.

Speaker 7 (34:44):
Yeah, So Johann Dotson is going to be on the move,
likely sliding into that spot behind aj Brown and Devonte
Smith in Philadelphia. A couple of baseball notes outside of
the judge story, Dodgers doesn't get adjacent Hayward for assignment,
making room for Chris Taylor to return to the Dodgers lineup.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Jay hay Remember he gave that speech for the Chicago Cubs.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
He's a great guy, like everybody says. He's an amazing
clubhouse guy, good presence, and I think they brought him
in because he was good friends with Freddie Freeman. They
came up together with the Braves. But he's always been
limited in his production. It's always been a matter of
he's a good guy to have around, but can you
kind of put up in Last year he overproduced, so

(35:30):
it kind of gave us false hope. And we just
have too many guys coming back from from injuries and
we need to set this lineup and get this thing right.
So goodbye Jason Hayward.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
By the way, are the Padres better than Dodgers?

Speaker 6 (35:44):
No, they're better.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
They're a better teams. They're playing together better as a team.
But the collective talent isn't better.

Speaker 10 (35:50):
No.

Speaker 7 (35:53):
Christiano Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel yesterday. Within ninety minutes,
broke a world record by becoming the fastest channel to
hit one million subscribers.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Wow. What he just had a shirt off in the
and then all the all the ladies started downloading.

Speaker 6 (36:10):
I don't think it was all ladies, you know, I think.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
You know some of the there's anything wrong with that, absolutely,
but also just his stardom, yes, there is, there is
that appeal to him.

Speaker 6 (36:22):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (36:22):
Finally, I guess i'd like to announce Mike Harmon and
myself are going into the lab in launching a new season.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
If I want your flex, there we go.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Huh. That's that's what's up right there.

Speaker 6 (36:34):
That's big class, excited to do it.

Speaker 7 (36:36):
Drafts are going to be coming up over these next
couple of weeks. I understand some have happened, but but
you know, right now is about to be the sweet spot.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
So we'll get you set for the upcoming season.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
I would tell you as a fantasy football player, you
guys have to do a great podcast. So that's I
want your flex. Combine that with the Doug Gottlieb Show
