Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres in
the Bonus with Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Godleeb Show, in the Bonus, Fox Sports Radio, Hiheartradio
app Welcome in.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Was good.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Was good. So last night we had an NFL game
and sim you heard this before. The Chiefs left some
points on the field. Pat Mahomes had a bad interception.
Lamar Jackson makes some unbelievable plays, but in some what
should be layup throws was wildly inaccurate. And what seems

(00:45):
to be happening all the time is the Chiefs beat
the Ravens. It's weird. So you add in, you know
worthy who scores a touchdown, has a couple of big plays,
You change your defense a little bit, you do some things.
But at the end of the day, the Chiefs are
the Chiefs. They're basically depending on Pat Mahomes and he

(01:07):
almost always comes through for him. And sometimes they seem
a little bit less interested than they should be. And
the Ravens. That's one of those deals where we talked
about this yesterday. The haters of Lamar Jackson. I mean, like, look,
he misses on throws that other end misses by an
amount that most NFL quarterbacks don't miss up Now, none

(01:30):
of them can make the plays that he can make
with his legs. So there's the butt there unless the bush.
But like here we are once again talking about well,
I don't know if their offense kind of fits or works.
You know, they've drafted wide receivers, they've tried different offenses.
This was supposed to be more suitable for him. I
just at some point you're going to have to evaluate

(01:51):
him differently because he's the most explosive with the football
we've seen. He's a better thrower than we imagine him being.
But he's still not a great thrower because he's not
terribly accurate actually when you get into tight windows or
deep down the field. Just a reality to it. But
last night provided us exactly zero surprises. Mahomes ends up winning.

(02:11):
He did throw a bad pick. There were some times
in which they looked disinterested, they left some points in
the field, but yet they were still able to take
down the Baltimore Ravens, which happens more times than not,
especially when they win. Since they they've had Lamar Jackson's quarterback.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Let's get to what the Fox said? And now, every
day at this time on the Doug Gottlieb Show in
the Bonus Podcast, we played for you a portion of
a previous show on Fox Sports Radio or on Fox
Sports One. We call it what does the Fox Say?
Here's Dan Patrick talking about the Chiefs win of the

(02:56):
Ravens last night.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Plus you know what I loved about this? If that
all did stand? John Harball was going for two. He
was going for the win, all right. So I'm watching
the game last night, and as I finished watching the game,
I'm thinking, Okay, if I'm a Ravens fan, how do
I feel? I feel really good and then I feel
really bad, Like I had mixed emotions. And if I'm

(03:20):
a Chiefs fan, I feel really good. But then there's
part of me that's like, Okay, we gave up a
lot of yards. We did win. I didn't think either
team looked particularly good. I think there were moments and we,
of course all had the same thought about Xavier Worthy.
It was like, all right, there's a touchdown, all right,

(03:42):
there's another touchdown. And I kept thinking about the Buffalo Bills.
When the Chiefs say to the Bills, Hey, you're gonna
use that first round draft pick, could we trade up?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Would you be taking an offensive weapon?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
The Chiefs select Xavier Worthy, fastest player in the draft.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, and you know, getting them on a reverse and
getting in the ball in space, that's going to be
obviously the key there.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Nothing really surprised me about last night, including how talented
Lamar Jackson is, but on how at times he's wildly
inaccurate for no explainable reason. And you know, the two
drop touchdown passes for the for the Chiefs. You sit
there and go like same old Chiefs, Like if they
just you know, catch the football, they'd win by three touchdowns.

(04:33):
But they play with their food a little bit. Ended
up giving us a great finish and I enjoyed it
a lot. Here's Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox earlier today,
two pros and a cup of Joe talking about the
new NFL kickoff role.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
They wanted to make some changes and unfortunately they've got
the kickoff's blood all over their hands. And now it's
gone because whatever the hell that was last night sucked
beyond belief and I thought, well, maybe it's just the preseason.
At least it'll be a different look once we get
to the regular season. Nope, they're just kicking it out

(05:08):
of bounds. And when you're kicking it out of bounds,
and guys are just running up to each other and
it looks like you're going through you know, team practice
in a hotel room because the weather's bad outside and
nobody's actually making contact with each other. It's just a
waste of time. I'm just can we get back to normal? Like,
can we get like or at this point this is.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Going to get rid of it.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
This is the contrast when you go to a high
school game tonight or watch college football, it's like they
decided not to change it. Why was the NFL so hell,
bid o these safety of the game, but stop, Like
what have you honestly really cared about the safety of
the game. Yeah, I mean I know, we want to

(05:52):
like act like the NFL because they put in these
different safety measures. It's all for liability so they won't
get a lawsuit. Like, let's just call it what it is.
And so we now put a ruin where it looks awful.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Oh, it's weird, un less and it was a total,
total letdown, total letdown. I thought it was gonna be good.
It wasn't. It hasn't been good so far. But it's
only one game, and let's see what like tonight's game brings.
Because you know, new new ways of looking at the
same problem give us sometimes different different outcomes. Here's Colin
Kalender talking about Kayleb Williams.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
Two things can be simultaneously true. Number One, I think
Caleb Williams is going to be fun and exciting and productive,
and I think he's the franchise quarterback that Bears haven't
had forever. Number Two, the hype is way over the top.
He completed fifty percent of his throws in the preseason
and he had a seventy nine passer rating. Even in college,

(06:49):
his accuracy was erratic, and I say that as somebody
that thinks he's a very unique all time talent. But
three games for USC last year in the Pack twelve,
he completed under fifty eight percent.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Of his throws.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
He went in the preseason, he was ten for twenty
in a passer rating under eighty Hey, this is gonna
be bumpy. The Titans for the last six months have
heard how great Caleb Williams is. I mean, they're an
anonymous franchise. If you ask fifty NFL fans who the
coach of the Titans is, six would have an answer
if he didn't count Nashville, maybe it's three. Like nobody knows.

(07:26):
All they've heard for six months is, oh, this guy's unbelievable.
You should be very You're gonna get blown out. You
do get the margins. This is not college football, it's
pro football. I mean, one of the upset bets of
the week. Frankly, if you ask the sharps of the
wise guys is Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, I don't know. I'm interested in the Kiva Williams thing. Obviously,
when Bill Belichick said he didn't think any of the
plays that he made when he see him in the
preseason were anything special that perks up everybody's years. But
there's a lot there which look like guys that have
been successful, like an Aaron Rodgers. So I guess we
will see. That's what the Fox said.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
What I say, be sure to catch live editions of
the Doug Gottlieb show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Let's find out who were What is annoying Jason Stewart.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
And now it's your annoying.

Speaker 7 (08:30):
Hey Doug, Hey Jason, I kind of I'm still a
fan of sportsmanship. I know that fewer and fewer people are.
But did you see the bitch session that happened after
the Ravens loss last night? Lamar Jackson, I thought it
was a touchdown. I think it's a touchdown, Isaiah Likely.

(08:53):
The referee said it was a touchdown on the field,
so it's a touchdown. Rokwan Smith said this.

Speaker 8 (09:01):
Oh he flopped, Yeah, he flopped. That's why they referees
then called it. It was a great call, but a great
no call by the riff. But whoever eighty eight is,
I don't know who he is, but he better watch
it and watch himself.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
He did a little slip push.

Speaker 7 (09:15):
Was there somebody on the sideline that pushed you as well?

Speaker 9 (09:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (09:17):
Whoever number eighty eight is, I have no idea who
he is, but I'll see himhen I see him.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
Like they had an edge to them last night. How
about we lost? Scoreboard is a scoreboard and we'll get
him in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Well, let me just say this, okay, and this goes
to any of the we have gotten to the point
where most of us have had enough. We've had enough
of the things that are patently obviously true being told
that they're false. Right, let's just again, the earth is

(09:51):
not flat. He was not in bounds. That's it. The
earth was not flat. He was not in bounds. He
had a toe out of bounds. Everyone saw it. And
it sucks in that now because of high definition and
because he was wearing black cleats or whatever, you know,
you could see it plain as day. But you could

(10:12):
see it plain as day. So shut the actual fuck up.
Do not say that I hate that. But again, this
comes from we have we can't even can't even admit
when we lose an election, can't admit that not everything
is a conspiracy. It's just not okay. Some things that

(10:34):
happen happen exactly as we see them happen. And in
the case of was he in or out of bounds?
It was a great catch, It was an unbelievable play.
He was out of bounds.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
I had the exact takeaway. So things that everybody sees
as blatantly true. For somehow, somehow, there's an opposite opinion
for that, Like we all saw it, every one on
TV saw it. That it and and to say that
it wasn't that's just so strange to me. And it

(11:07):
reminds me you you brought in politics. So I'll bring
it up to that Kamala Harris interview that she did
with CNN recently. It was like split down the middle
on Twitter. She did awful or she did amazing. It
was the greatest interview in the history of politics. Like,
how do we have how do we have complete opposite

(11:29):
opinions of something that we all saw. I guess the
interview part, that's a subjective one. It's it's hard to
be it's it's hard for this one to be subjective
at all. We all saw the black cleat on the
white line. It literally is black and white. It's black
and white. Let's see. Roger Goodell went on CNBC this morning,

(11:51):
and you have to take that into account, right, CNBC
is an NBC property, obviously, you know what else is
an NBC property? Peak And he answered the question about
putting more and more games on streaming apps.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
The bottom line is you have to go where your
fans are, and our fans are moving off onto streaming platforms.
Netflix is a good example of that. Peacock's a good
example of that. Amazon's a good example of that. Our
fans are on different platforms and we need to reach them.
But at the same time, over eighty five percent of
our games are still available on free television. We think

(12:31):
we have the most fan friendly policies for our fans
and the media world of any league by far, one
hundred percent of our games for the two teams participating.
So we really think that those policies are really beneficial
to our growth, to our supporting more people watching NFL
football and the fans enjoyment of it. But streaming also

(12:53):
brings in technologies that I think are going to be
really valuable to improve the experience for consumer. I think,
you know, there's more things that they can do with
their platforms and technology that I think is going to
be very, very positive.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
So almost everything he said right there is accurate and
I buy it, and it's smart business. There's just one thing,
a bullshit I need to call out. He groups in
Peacock with Amazon and Netflix. Peacock is a distant one
hundredth in streaming apps. So I will call bullshit on this.

(13:33):
The NFL has leveraged its popularity with their broadcast partner
at NBC to get people to buy Peacock because just
Google Peacock and market share and how they've struggled to
sell their app. The NFL is using this platform to
leverage people into pain for Peacock. The Amazon and Netflix thing,

(13:55):
they're so far superior in every way, shape or form.
So I just needed to call bullshit on that one
part that Godoza got it?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
What else.

Speaker 7 (14:06):
Did you catch that Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift were
not in the same suite last night?

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I did see that.

Speaker 7 (14:15):
Do you remember last year when they had that pre
arranged handshake or fist bump and dance after they scored
a touchdown and they were best ease and they were
seen around town. TMZ hit on this first, and then
other entities have now touched upon it. This is the

(14:37):
first thing I thought about, is the reason why they
are not in the same suite anymore? Because Brittany Mahomes
recently came out and said she was voting for Trump
and that Taylor Swift has been very, very pro Democrat
for many years. I hope not. My personal story is this.

(14:59):
My sister is a bleeding heart liberal, always has been
drinks the kool Lady. She's down. She's progressive to every
single issue, and she has over the last four years
distanced herself from, disassociated herself from not talk to anymore
extended family members who are not progressive. I think it's immature.

(15:24):
I think it's disdainful. I've told her that she doesn't
know what to do with me because I have very
liberal views on abortion and gun control and a public
safety net, but I also have conservative views and it
frustrates her. She doesn't think that humans could have both sides.

(15:44):
If Taylor Swift, as if Taylor Swift has disassociated herself
from Britney Holmes Homes for that reason, it's disdainful and
it should be made a bigger deal and pointed out.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Well, look, the Trump thing has has ruined marriages, friendships,
family relationships. That just has. He's, without any question, the
most divisive politician of our lifetime about our lifetime, and
I would I agree with you. I'm like you. I'm
a radical centrist and I take that to mean exactly

(16:18):
what you do, which is like, I don't feel like
I have to. Just because I lean left on a
topic does not mean I could I will be a
lemming and only vote for the left. And I'm definitely
not leaning to the right, although there are some things
that I agree on, So I do what I want
based upon what I think is best for my family
and for our country. So I'm completely with you on that.

(16:39):
What I find to be interesting is, yeah, the timing
of it, So I do believe that. I mean it is.
If you didn't see that one coming, you're not paying
attention at all.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
So I will put Taylor Swift at the top of
my list. I want the Ravens bitching after the game
and Roger Goodell having one bullshit entity of his streaming
app question.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Give me the Org, Roger Goodell, I got the Taylor
Swift thing.

Speaker 7 (17:16):
You seem to be the most have the most ir
for the Ravens bitching.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yeah, especially the bitching about a call, which is not controversial.
Nobody agrees with them, and it only triggers all of
those all of those genes in our brain of thinking
we shouldn't trust officials when there is obvious, obvious contact
with the out of Allendsigne when he caught the football.

(17:42):
So Raven's bitching about the call, which everyone agreed with.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Why are we doing this?

Speaker 6 (17:51):
I do.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Because we can.

Speaker 7 (17:56):
Doug On, we talked on the radio show about Jamar
Chase using to play while he's just negotiating the contract.
I think there's a lot of interesting aspects to it.
But he was asked by a reporter today about the
report that he wants one dollar more than Justin Jefferson.
This is what he said.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
A lot of rumors.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
Is it true that the reports that you want one
penny more than Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
If I want to beat Justin, I'm going to beat
the shit out of Justin pop Off anymore.

Speaker 7 (18:23):
So I misspoke the report that he wanted one penny
and he doesn't want one penny more. He wants to
beat the shit out of Justin.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
That's a great quote, isn't it. It's really remarkable. Why
could play for you? Because we can? All right, that's
it for the end the Bonus Podcast. I got the
radio show every day three to six eastern, three to five,
excuse me, three to five eastern, twelve two Pacific plus.
