Do Do Do Do. Hey, there's a there's something we
have done for a couple of years and we for
(00:45):
some reason did away with it. We're going to bring
it back. This show is sponsored by DraftKings. Stay tuned
you'll hear more about DraftKings. All you have to do
is uh uh and and all it has to offer
throughout the show DraftKings, the crown is yours. Every Friday.
We like to do this, okay, and you know summertime
wasn't a lot to bet on. I'll allowed to gamble
on and so these are picks that if we were
(01:07):
a gambler and we had a guy that we could
call about a game, this would be the game that
we would make the call about. Let's play it. Do
Do Do Do, Okay. So it's one of the great
songs of our lifetime. The late great Kenny Rogers he
(01:28):
began to speak son, I made a life out of
reading people's faces and knowing what the cards were by
the way they held their eyes. So, if you don't
mind me saying, I can see you're out of vases
for shots of your whiskey. Sorry, shadow whiskey advice. So
(01:53):
I handed him my bottle, drank down my last swallow. See,
most people don't know these. It is an expertly written song.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
By the way, legendary Doug, you've reached Big Mike's threshold. Uh.
You know, Big Mike's got a bunch of pet peeves
around here. He's a guy that runs everything around here.
He doesn't like singing on the earth, and he certainly
doesn't like reading lyrics on the air. So threshold, Big mic.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
No, when to walk away, no when to run?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Never count show money when you're sitting tame mean time,
enough accounting, and then it's done.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
It does allow me to to say one of my
my favorite websites that I don't know if it's in
existence and I don't want to do it on a
work computer was a site that was dedicated to men
who look like Kenny Rogers.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
And it was amazing. It truly is.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
You know, I may even just throw caution to the
wind because something like that has to have staying power.
And it was just collections of guys with uh, Elton
pepper beards or just fully white beards.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Great stuff. Not Santa like, but Kenny Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Like Big Mike just stop by to give his input
on this whole segment.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
By the way, what was his imputuh, two hands and
a certain motion at the window, the one finger gesture.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah all right, So what's what's your pick of the weekend?
That's basically it is. I got one, and I feel
pretty confident about it. You know, we made some of
our NFL picks going back to yesterday. I love Atlanta
(03:40):
over Pittsburgh. I just do. I don't think Pittsburgh is great.
I don't think they have any sort of offense figured out.
And it's not that I think Atlanta did a great
job drafting, but I think they were I thought they
were a quarterback away. Kirk Cousins at home in a
dome in a non you know, primetime game, seems like
a layup to.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Me, all right, his next Doug who passing the hot
potato too? What do we got?
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I don't have to just you getting whatever you Let's
let's go to you, dan By.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
All right, Okay, I already have buyer's remorse and we're
not even a weekend to the NFL season.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Buyer's remorse. I one.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
I picked the Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC North,
and I picked Joe Burrow to win MVP. I did,
and to see how this first week is gone. Because
there are different layers to this, this Bengals conversation. And
I can't think that Jamar Chase and t Higgins' main
(04:40):
goal is winning a super Bowl this year. I think
their main goal is Chases to get paid, as we've
seen throughout training camp, and Higgins is probably to stay
as healthy as he can so he can get paid
next year as he's playing on the franchise tag. None
of those are I want to win a ring in
Cincinnati and so the Bengals came in as a eight
(05:03):
point favorite this week against the New England Patriots, and
we think New England's going to be bad. But if
you have Chase limited, Tee Higgins is now doubtful, and
a team that I don't know how motivated they are,
I think the Patriots can at least hang around against Cincinnati.
So give me the Patriots it's down to seven and
a half. But give me New England plus seven and
(05:24):
a half against Cincinnati right now. Just not getting great
vibes from what the Bengals are laying down.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Okay, so many I have so many thoughts about that
Jamar Chase thing. You talked to any you just talked
to Mark Dominic last hour, Okay, any front office, NFL exech,
and any agent would tell you that the only leverage
that a player has is to not play. Okay, he
is gonna be, He's gonna set the market, so he
has he also has an obligation to his union. He's
(05:54):
going to set the market. So to hold out only
to say I'm going to play during I hold out,
I think it's an injustice to his union.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Hmmm, that is I don't think so. I think he's
going to play, he's going to get a new contract
before he's playing. But they all play when they're under
a new contract, when they're under an old contract. Jason,
he's under contract. He's not doing anything.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Everybody sets the market. He's going to set the market.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Okay, So why she is that he's going to play
on a new contract and then get it, I don't know.
I actually think it's a better part for the story,
which is like he's not going to miss any games
because he knows he's eventually going to get paid the
right amount. They just haven't gotten there yet.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I mean, if his whole thing was I'm just going
to play out the season and negotiate during the season
or whatever, but he specifically held out or held in
during the the preseason and he's going to be the
guy that sets the market so everybody will get paid
more money after he makes what he makes. I just
think he has more of an obligation. This is more
of a disservice to his union than people are talking.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I think that's actually a fair assessment. We've seen it before,
but usually it's with rookies holding out and not signing
the rookie deal and then the Vets say, we'll get
into camp rookie because you haven't done anything in this league,
and it's kind of glossed over. But Chase does have
equity in the league. It's it's part of the CBA.
He can now negotiate after three years. But Doug, as
(07:24):
you point out, with quarterbacks, they're under team control for
a lot longer. He at least will be under Bengals
control for the next two years with his rookie deal
in the picking up of the fifth year option. So
the Bengals really have no need to give him that
sort of deal considering he's gonna be under contract with
him for the next two years. But it is interesting
(07:45):
to what Jason is saying because Chase even said today
that when a reporter asked him, are you going to
get a penny more than Justin Jefferson, And he said
he was going to get a bleep more than Justin Jefferson.
So again, not good for a team that is true,
trying to get to the super Bowl when all we're
talking about is dollar signs.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
And buyer's remorse. I love buyer's remorse. We gotta get
some imaging for that.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Okayet I could go two different ways on this. I
usually think week one is usually a good time to
just start pounding overs. If I ever see a high
total in the NFL, it's just like, oh yeah, go
go under. And like Texans at Colts to start the
year under forty eight and a half sounds good, But
I'm actually gonna go towards this particular matchup is interesting
(08:33):
to me. Steelers at Falcons. This has been These are
two teams that both kind of stumbled into bizarre quarterback
controversies in very different ways. You know, if Atlanta hand's
a massive fortune to Kirk Cousins then drafts Michael Pennix,
the Steelers get both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and
(08:55):
both teams seem to like, we know that Russell Wilson
and Kirk Cousins are starting, but all the question is
for how long In both of these cases here, I mean,
I think a little more immediate for the pitt For Pittsburgh,
I think they want to hold Pennix back as long
as they can. But I just think this sounds like
it's gonna be rough off the front. And when you're
handing me Steelers plus three and a half, I really
(09:17):
want to lean that way, especially when you're giving me
a hook on top of everything. I just think as
as prolific as the Falcons offense is going to be,
it just screams that it's going to take some time
to really gel together. But Kirk Cousins in the driver's seat,
So give me Pittsburgh plus three and a half.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
You like the other side of that?
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Oh yeah, I love.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
We've had three picks and and Chris went against Dougs
like he just threw caution to the wind.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
That's okay, I no, I just there's I just there's
nothing that I've seen from Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I don't like their offensive line. It's new week one
of the season, and Russell Wilson hasn't played with them
in the preseason and he's ippy. I just I don't
like it.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Guys, this dreams of a wager.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Are you taking the over under in Pittsburgh Atlanta?
Speaker 2 (10:04):
No?
Speaker 4 (10:05):
That that that's so I'm asking Jason. Is that your
gambler going to be Jason over under? So all of
our gamblers are focused on Steve Luzens.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I think whoever wins us bet buys lunch on Monday.
Chris and Doug.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Hey game with that, I have no part of it.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Doug eats organic, so it'll cost Chris a little bit more. Now,
So what is it I buy lunch, you buy lunch
for Chris on Monday, or you buys lunch for you?
Speaker 7 (10:31):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (10:31):
I thought it was the show. Now I don't care
as much.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Well, I buy for the show, but I have to
there has to be some sort of equal to you know,
is that fifty sixty dollars?
Speaker 4 (10:45):
My favorite was when Doug got us wings and asked
us our favorite flavors, and then we had barbecue buffalo
and then you came in with like five buffalo you
had yours. You love lemon pepper and Sultan vinegar. He was, yeah,
he was, you were covered. But we only had had
five of like hours. Oh good times.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
I don't recall it being that bad.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
I think I know I am.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
I think I think I know you are. I think
what happened though, was I got enough wings for us?
And then you know, Cobnio and Rich they have like
fifteen people that come in and they just filter snacking
and you know, and listen, we've all been there before.
Right like, once you pick up a wing boneless or
which is a nugget or or traditional it's hard to.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Put him down, by the way put him down. Kenny
Rodgers is making a mint right now on this segment.
This song is only like what it's only twelve to
fifty a little.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Three but yeah, you're right. An extended version like a
club mix version.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
The Kenny Rodgers estates really good the bucks.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
To absolve myself in worrying about how much I might
have just spent, I'll take the I'll take the under
forty and a half in Texans colts, I'll be the
coward and back away.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
So now you've changed or coward coward?
Speaker 1 (12:08):
I am a coward, okay.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
I am a total coward.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I like self preservation.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Okay. So what is our bet on this?
Speaker 2 (12:16):
No bet? He backed out of it. He's on a budget,
Doug not. Everyone could have two jobs. Listen my energy
bill alone right now. This summer is going to be
How hot was it at your house? Like one and fifteen?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
What about you, Dan?
Speaker 7 (12:34):
It was.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
I didn't get home until later, but it was like
one hundred and ten, Yeah, it was. It was up
there that night.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
It was at nine o'clock at night. It was ninety degrees,
which is not normal.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
I left for work at like eight am and it
was already ninety three in the foothill.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, listen, this is Oklahoma in the summer. Basically, you
guys are experiencing for a week. So crime a river
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
You know.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
We had we had a little rain last night, and
we got some clouds in the sky. You guys are
gonna win ninety percent of the time, but you're losing
right now. I think it's time to sing.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Did Jason make a pick?
Speaker 4 (13:13):
No?
Speaker 1 (13:13):
No, no, Jay Scott make a pick.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
I want to make sure that I'm consistent for our listeners,
because there are listeners right now thinking I remember the
Gambler and it doesn't have to be NFL, it could
be anything on the weekend. Correct, Yes, okay, I just
wanted to make sure I deliver some consistency for our listeners.
With that said, I need you all to run to
(13:35):
the beding window. This is the the early college games tonight.
Run to the bedding window. I'm going to give you
my j stew team Parlay. Jay's stew team Parlay. Is
you get two winners and if you win them both,
you get a lot of money. I'm going to take
SMU over BYU. SMU is yeah, SMU is giving twelve
(13:58):
points to BYU tonight in the early window. And I'll
tell you just one thing about b y U. I
b YU fans. Jim McMahon is not walking through that door.
The parlay, the Jay's two team parlay includes another team,
which is going to be Indiana. Indiana is laying forty
(14:19):
four and a half to Western Illinois tonight. Anyone who
watched Western Illinois last year, they were a train wreck.
I watched all their games. Indiana to s m U
your Jay stew team parlay, you could thank me on
Monday when to run.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
When you're sitting time. I enjoyed that the singing, not
all of the all the all the other stimes still
gottleap show you're on Fox Sports Radio. Although, man, that
was a quick little back down there from you, Chris Purfett,
(15:02):
I mean, I just I was. I'm surprised, surprised. The
Detroit int You usually would go I'm strong and wrong,
but you chose to just be wrong, not strong in
this case.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
I choose as soon as I heard or you order organic.
I chose self preservation.

G M Real quick On tonight, Jared, any sides of
this total or the line that you like tonight?
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Yeah, I'm seeing Philly kind of get the handle throughout
the offseason. You know, they've been the real popular team
amongst a lot of sharp betters here in town. We've
seen a lot of their future's numbers.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Get bet out.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
I would be fine with laying it with Philly tonight.
I don't like the commute. Green Bay apparently has like
a two hour commute to the game. And Darius slay
I saw this. He told his family not to calme
because he's worried about, you know, the surroundings. And they
didn't leave the team hotel. And it's a very unique situation.
We don't know what the field conditions are going to
be like. I would recommend watching the first couple of
series and see if there are any inconsistencies with the
(16:42):
playing surface. But I think the Eagles are a safe
bet tonight.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Okay, let's get to this weekend. Big weekend on the
college slate, and of course, every Saturday morning you click
on Fox Sports Radio, you're gonna hear Jared Smith is
gonna get you ready for Saturday and Sunday's games. Let's
just be honest. It's not just a Saturday only eleven
am Central Time. Okay, big noon kickoff nine o'clock on
the West Coast, Texas taking on defending national champion Michigan
(17:08):
in the Big House. So it's to be some rain
cool fall like conditions. Totals forty two and a half
and the Horns are a seven point road paper.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
Yeah, I think if there is going to be weather,
the wind being the more important. Right. We talk about
this all the time. Rain and it doesn't have that
much of an impact unless it's torrential. Win anything north
of ten to fifteen miles an hour, and it makes
the passing game hard. And we all know college kickers,
it makes the kicking game even tougher. So this number.
Over the summer, certain games the shops here in town
(17:40):
will open up as games of the year they call them.
And it's hard. Obviously, it's very hard to prise these
games when you know the transporport on all the different rosters.
So it's always interesting to see how the summer pricing
compares to what happens week of game. Well, back in
May June when this number opened, it was Texas minus
three three and a half and now we're sitting in
Texas minus seven even seven and a hol half. We
(18:00):
saw some of that seven and a half get gobbled
up in the market this week. I do think Michigan
is the side I favor here. I didn't love what
I saw with the Texas offense last week. I think
quinn Ewers, you know, didn't show me the plus stuff
and the offensive line they I would expect them to
get a lot more push against Colorado State this week.
They're facing a completely different defense, and the Michigan defense
(18:23):
I thought, obviously maybe not as good as last year,
but kind of right up to that expectation. Josiah Stewart
was absolutely fantastic. This is a guy to keep an
eye on. The Maryland transfer Barum also looked very good.
I do think Michigan is going to be able to
stop the Texas run game. So the question is can
quinn Ewers and that passing offense get going On the
other side, This is where the struggle is for Michigan's offense.
(18:44):
Davis Warren, he's very limited, doesn't have a ton of
help outside of the tight end Colston Lovelin. There just
isn't a whole lot on Michigan's offense. They need Donovan
Edwards to be a star. He didn't look good last week.
Two and a half yards per carry. Wasn't seeing the hole.
We saw this throughout portions of last year. The offen
defensive line is shuffling a lot of starters, and if
you have a running back to just isn't seeing the
(19:04):
whole right, sometimes it's not effective. So Donovan Edwards getting
back on track is key. Texas's defense was kind of
pushed around a little bit justin Marshall to Colorado State
running back had a really good game. I think Pete
quiet Kowski is tweaking some things. We saw some Tampa two.
But that's a defensive coordinator for Texas. But I think
Texas obviously has guys. It's can Michigan do anything vertically
(19:25):
down the field if they can and get a little
bit of that running game going. I think this number
is a little heavy. I think Michigan keeps it close.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
This number is spiked up. I've seen it at ten someplaces.
It started six and a half. Oklahoma State welcoming in Arkansas,
and granted Arkansas only won one game in the SEC
last year, but let's not act like Oklahoma State has
been dominant against SEC teams in the past. It's gonna
be interesting to see what Tyland Green can do throwing
(19:52):
the football. What are your thoughts on Arkansas going about
three hours to go and take Oklahoma State on in
boompicking stadium.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
Yeah, it's always it's interesting when you get these regional rivalries.
And I'll be honest, Oklahoma State's game last week against
South Dakota State, I think at least, you know, at
least gives you guys some hope that you know you
can put some put some points on the board. I
know South Dakota State is an FCS team, but they
are certainly one of the better FCS teams. I haven't
looked a ton at Arkansas this year. Played Pine Bluff
(20:20):
last week. Obviously you expect a big number there, and
they put up a big number score for well, forty
nine points in the first half against Arkansas Prime. But again,
you don't want to look too much into those results.
Situationally speaking, I don't think it's a bad spot for Arkansas.
I would say if the number keeps kind of leaking tighter,
that's kind of where the market's telling you it's going
(20:41):
to go. But Oklahoma State, hey, listen, if that defense
can figure things out, I think that's where the Poke's
gonna be dangerous this year.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Yeah, i'd be really really interesting. You got a seventh
year starting quarterback and arguably the best running back in
the Country's keep with the college game for a couple
more picks as Jared Smith joins US Baylor in their
first in Utah's first Big twelve road game. People really
giving Utah a ton of respect frightfully so Baylor struggled
(21:08):
last year. Utah a fourteen and a half point favorite,
and the total is fifty five. Any early lean there.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
Yeah, I'll be honest, A lot of people out here
really liked Utah to win this Big twelve, and I
think the Big Twelve is going to be very volatile
this year. When I look at some of the sharper
shops here in town, it does look like we've seen
some pretty significant money come in on Baylor. This line
opened seventeen and now it just got to that key
number fourteen. It's always interesting you can kind of tell
(21:35):
where the market is trading, and after the full week,
once you get to Friday, Friday afternoon Saturday, you don't
see a ton of moves. You kind of see a
buy up and then a buy back at some point,
so you can kind of see the barriers of where
this game is going to be traded in kind of
like a day trader of a stock. And it looks
like between seventeen and fourteen. So the market obviously likes
Utah at fourteen, they like Baylor at seventeen. I think
(21:57):
anywhere in between that's where you get some of that variance.
But hey, Baylor put some points on the board last week. Again,
I don't want to overreact to anything I saw in
week one, but you don't want to underreact either. They
played Tarlton State, they were able to score some points
early and then they kind of throttled down late. I
don't think Utah has a whole lot of interest in
really going crazy this week. They've got a big game
(22:18):
next week of rivalry game on the road next week
at Utah State. So if they do get a touchdown
and two score lead, I don't think they're going to be,
you know, putting too much out there as they continue
to go through this schedule. So I would say Baylor,
if you get them north of two touchdowns, that seems
like the market preference.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Here Stug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. Jared
Smith who joins this. Of course, you can hear him
on Fox Sports Radio on Weekend Morning started at nine
am Eastern time Saturday morning, So all your picks for
the weekend. Let's get to Sundays real quick.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Kay.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I'm excited because I think, like again, if Jim Harball
can't fix you, and nobody can Chargers Raiders, good night now,
great rivalry, Sokel local obviously, now Vegas added in three
point line forty and a half is the total you
got a lean in the old battle, Sokel.
Speaker 7 (23:09):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
I really like the under in this game, Doug So. So,
first of all, this is a home game for the Raiders,
make no mistake, and I think that I don't want
to say it's being lined as a home game, but
there will be no home field advantage for the Chargers
in this game. And I think that's why you saw
three and a half go away. Now we're seeing a
lot of threes out there in the market. So you know,
the anytime you get on that key number, if you
(23:32):
go if that key number evaporates, if you go from
two and a half to three, that's a pretty strong
move to the favorite, bigger than any other half move
same thing from three and a half down to three.
Then it's obviously the underdog that the market prefers there.
But when you look at what the Chargers did in
the offseason. I mean, just go through all the all
of the moves that they made after Harbaugh took control,
and it was all moves that were just meant to
(23:55):
kind of mimic what he did at Michigan, which is
run the ball and play defense. All of the person
Outen was allowing guys like Keenan Allen and Mike Williams
to go, you know, not worrying about Austin Eckler, kind
of reloading with more of a ground based attack where
you can just pound the rock, and obviously focusing on
the defense. Bringing in your defensive coordinator from Ann Arbor,
Mike Minner, who I think it might take some time
to kind of renovate this this this defense, but there's
(24:17):
a lot of good pieces in place. And then, oh,
by the way, Justin Herbert hasn't practiced, hasn't faced live
reps in the preseason because it's dealing with the foot
injury and they're working in a new offense. They're working
in a new scheme, So I just I don't expect
this Chargers offense to just hit the ground running. I
think there's gonna be a learning curve. On the other side,
you have the Raiders who they finally have an identity,
which is defense, and it's Antonio Pierce, and it's Max Crosby,
(24:40):
who I think is kind of the leader of the
team right now. Usually it's the quarterback, in this case,
it's the defensive lineman. And then you bring in another
piece upfront to help in the offseason, Wilkins. So I
just think that the front is just loaded with this
Raiders team, and you've got to it's gonna like smash
mount football. Run the ball here, run the ball there.
I don't trust Gardner Minshew a whole lot. So divisional
(25:00):
unders have been a big trend in Week one in
the NFL. Usually coaches know each other, teams know each
other very well. The points usually trend under. And after
watching the game last night, if they are going to
call the illegal formations that tight and they are not
going to give the offensive lineman that half step of
cushion that they've been granted for free, for goodness knows
how long, that's advantage defense For me, that's advantage pass rush.
(25:23):
So teams with good pass rushes Raiders, I think that
means more pressure on the quarterback, harder for them to operate.
So I'll go under with the Raiders and the Chargers
this week.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Jerry Smith joining us here on the Doug Gottlieb Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Where are you on Pittsburgh in Atlanta?
We had a great discussion about it earlier in.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
The hour, So it looks like the numbers leaking out
towards Atlanta because of the Russell Wilson injury. I think
he plays everything I've heard from my injury people say
that he plays. How effective is he? Goodness knows. I thought,
I don't know, if you saw the video justin fields
with the receiver group today, I thought that was at
least somewhat comforting that not giving him first team quarterback reps.
(26:02):
But I don't really know what to make of Pittsburgh
this year. I think this, if there's ever a year
for them not to make the playoffs, this is it.
But Mike Tomlin kind of has this way going about him,
and I think when you just look at, you know,
the offensive line I think is young. I think the
defense might show a little bit decline. You got Cameron
Hayward getting up there in years. The schedule's tough. It's
(26:23):
one of the toughest schedules that I've seen. According to
my ratings guy, they're gonna face nine of the top
ten teams. Also, they're expected to face five of the
toughest schedule, a toughest schedule of opposing pass offenses and
pass defenses, so some of the toughest quarterbacks and some
of the toughest secondaries in the league. The early part
of the schedule is easy, and then things really stiffen
up late. So maybe if you bet a win total over,
(26:45):
maybe you want to come back on the under later
and look to fade them in the game to game markets.
But man, three games in eleven days down the stretch
at Philly, at Baltimore vs. Kansas City on Christmas Day.
I mean, that's about as tough as a close to
a season as you're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Stell Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, let's
bounce around a couple more here real quick with Jeared Smith.
Battle of Florida Jacksonville. Not a lot of people are
talking about it, right, Both coach, both quarterbacks got extensions
in the offseason. Everybody talking about Tua. This one being
played in South Florida. But usually they get the benefit
of a team from the north coming into that heat,
(27:18):
Jacksonville coming into that heat, the lines three and a half.
Dolphins are favorite at home, the totals forty nine.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
Yeah, that's the key. I think if this was New
England coming in or Buffalo or Denver, I think you
give Miami a significant edge. I talked to some people here,
you know, the pros that do this. They say, when
when you put a non outdoor hot weather team on
that sideline during the day in September, it could be
(27:46):
worth three points against the spread. So I'm not saying
it's worth that much because Jacksonville is pretty much use
to it, But I think the sideline that they play
on matters now. Miami schedule this year, I think they
only have one home game in sun. The other one
in September is at night, so you know, you can't
sell out any any you know, Sun for that. But
(28:07):
I wouldn't give as much of an edge to the
Dolphins here for any weather or any situational uh, you
know climate, because of Jacksonville's you know the fact that
they practice in it. I think Jacksonville's offensive line is
a weakness, but the Dolphins defense is one of the
most injured defenses we've seen coming into the season. They
are dealing with a ton a ton of production upfront,
(28:30):
injuries across the board. Jalen Phillips, of course, is still
getting healthy. I think the offensive line is going through
some upheaval as well. If you can get three and
a half, if you can get that hook right, that
key number on the three, you want three and a half.
I think Jacksonville is a bet this week.
Speaker 1 (28:45):

get to the press with Dan. But the press, what
(29:44):
do you have there, Danny?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
So we've got a boatload of football to get to.
But this news dropped you yesterday. Do you like boatload
or crap ton? I'm fine with hyther Okay, yeah, I
think they work well. Uncertain company. I think maybe a
boatload it is better to be used. But I'm fine
with a crap ton. We got a crap ton of
football to talk to in a bit, but to talk
(30:06):
about in a bit. But yesterday Doug angel Reese released
her first podcast, Unapologetically Angel, and talked about a variety
of topics, her getting into the Rookie of the Year
stuff and then obviously everything that goes on with Caitlyn
Clark and some of the stuff that she's gotten from fans.
(30:26):
This was angel Reese in the first episode of her podcast.
Speaker 8 (30:29):
Kaitlyn is an amazing player and I've always thought she
was amazing play. We've been playing each other since high school.
So I think it's really just the fans, her fans,
the Iowa fans now the Indiana fans that are like
they weren't for her, and I respect that respectfully, but
sometimes it's very disrespectful. I think there's a lot of
racism when it comes to it, and I don't believe
(30:51):
she stands on any of that. But when it comes
to death threats, like I'm talking about, people have come
down to my address multiple occasions, people have made ai
pictures of me like NICKI. It sucks to see that,
and it's it's really hard that I have to go
through that, and now seeing other players even having to
go through that.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
I actually wanted to talk about this today, but I
just we probably should talk about the POD. I'll say this.
We have gone from where the last possible option to
somebody not liking somebody else is racism, to where it's
now the first. Where it's not the first, it just isn't.
(31:34):
So I just I hate to sound unsympathetic, but I'm
really unsympathetic from a couple different aspects of it. Look,
I don't know what it's like to be a beautiful woman.
I just don't so the idea of being sexualized when
you don't want it is it's just it's it's a
departure from any of my modern thought, Like nobody puts
(31:56):
my head on the body of a supermodel or or
even a fat doe. It's like, this is Gottleib's body
or whatever. On the other hand, can we be honest
she hyper sexualized herself by doing the runway modeling thing
wearing very little clothing, which is okay, Like she's a
beautiful woman. She's allowed to be beautiful and not allowed
to be like violated anyway, right like these that's reasonable.
(32:20):
But again, like it's it's just weird that you want
to be a sex symbol and then when people see
you as a sex symbol, you're like, no, I'm not
a sex symbol. Like I don't get it. Do I
think there's some racism, I'm sure there is, I'm sure.
Do I think it's the overwhelming reason that Iowa fans
(32:41):
or some Kaitlin Clark fans prefer Kayton Clark over Angel Reese.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
I would how I would evaluate Angel Reese's she's awesome
at what she does. She's she's a Dennis Rodman type
and I mean that in all the great ways as
a basketball player, which is unbelievable and valuable. That type
of player I need desperately on my own team. But
she's not even in the conversation of Caitlin Clark in
(33:10):
terms of her all around effect on a game, let
alone the league. It's not even close. It's not even
a discussion anyway. Who were you going to say there,
Jase Doo, just to.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Let the listeners behind the glass hair, you know, I
had it editorially on a list of things that covering
the podcast today, But I had to choose between that
and Taylor Swift disowning Brittany Holmes because she votes for Trump,
and I didn't want to go too heavy on the pod,
so I chose that one instead. This is despicable and
(33:47):
I hate to hold her to her words because they
are not very sophisticated and they come off as very uneducated.
I understand she just spent four years at a university
to put Caitlin Clark fans in the group of your
racists online. That she's conflating both of them. Two things
(34:11):
could be true. A ton of Kaitlyn Clark fans out
there dislike you because you're her rival, and there are
a ton of racists out there that say inappropriate stuff
and it's unacceptable. But she's putting the racist into the
Kaitln Clark bucket and that's just unfair and stupid.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
We completely agree, all right, what else you got?
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Danny doug Now on the Football Where Cowboys executive vice
president Stephen Jones said today had one oh five point
three the fan in Dallas that he hopes it's a
possibility that Dak gets a new contract before Sunday's opener
against the Browns. He said, quote, we continue to have
productive visits and talks, will continue to work end quote.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
I think that means he's going to get a new
contract before they play their first game. That would be
stunn and if it doesn't.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
Sure it's done. That's the case.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
I feel bamboozled by the Joneses and the Cowboys because
this could have been done a long time ago, and
instead we had the all in season Dak going to
be playing for the right to play, which I don't
think any of us believed really, But for them to
try to go on with the charade.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah crazy plus plus it's too big a cap hit
to be a cap hit.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey have a new deal makes him
the highest paid cornerback in the National Football League for
the second time in his career. Got a three year
extension where twenty four point one million dollars annually. That's
the most, just passing Patrick's or Tans deal that was
signed earlier this week. Total value of the contract seventy
two point three million dollars.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
So he literally Patrick Shertain was the ice paid cornerback
for or defensive back for fifteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Yes, and in fact, he should hold out this weekend
against Seattle like that is what you should do now hand.
You should want a new deal after you were just passed.
Do not play against the Seahawks on Sunday. I'm not
definitely not saying that at all. Is a Seahawks fan.
I think that is the right move. Jason talked about,
you know, representing your union and your players.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
That's what you should do. Patrick's artan and if you.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Missed it, Jamar Chase questionable, t Higgins doubtful, Russell Wilson
questionable for their games this weekend, Steelers have the Falcons,
the Bengals home to the New.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
England Patriots, and that Doug is the press.
Speaker 6 (36:29):
By get out there and pressed, that was the press.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
I think Danny did a great job today in terms
of the things where you know, you just I don't know,
I'm just excited about the NFL season. You know, in
sports radio, sports talk obviously, this is kind of what
we build around. But it is interesting that we end
up we end up watching a game last night and
Lamar Jackson played to his reputations, so too did Pat Mahomes.
(36:52):
Have a great sports weekend. Go back, O, Doug Galluphow,
Fox Sports Radio,
