Speaker 3 (00:52):
You know.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Here's the thing I can't Dan Nick Sirianni. I think
the act is super tired, but he fits Philadelphia perfectly.
On the other hand, the decision to throw the ball
to Saquon Barkley. I have no issue with at all, none, none. Again,
(01:17):
you're managing the game and you felt like, kind of
in the old Bill Belichick mode, if we get this
first down, the game is over. Could a cake the
field goal right made it exceptionally difficult, also a possibility.
What I think is interesting is there's lots of people,
some on this network who will tell you aggressive wins.
Then somebody's aggressive and they don't win, and they're an idiot.
(01:40):
I have any problem with it. And that's the difference
to me and other people. And I actually think we'll
talk about the some on the pod. There's something that
think that Belichick had negative words about Atlanta because he's
mad because he didn't get the Atlanta job, when I'd
like to think that he, like me, like you may
be pissed at Atlanta or not, or he may not
have really wanted that job. He wanted everybody else to
(02:01):
drive up the Atlanta to drive up the price and
the Cowboys I fire Mike McCarthy. I don't know. But
the point is that I can think Nick Sirianni's act
is tired and a complete, you know, artificial performance and
still say, look, you got a chance to win the game.
Go win the football game. And I'm sure every Giants
(02:26):
fan was sitting there going like, say's a joker can
catch out of the backfield, secon one can't. You could
make all those inferences.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I think Jalen Hurts has shown he's not nearly as
good a thrower. I mean that interception was a terrible read,
a terrible throw. Obviously he's much more of a runner.
I don't have any problem with the decision or even
the play. Although Dallas Goddard was open. Who's Dallas Goddard?
Who's their tight end open right over the middle. But
(03:00):
my thing is we always tell you be aggressive, be aggressive.
Here's the guy was aggressive. Pretty safe play call doesn't work.
And because people don't like Nick Siriani, they want to
go say or they don't like the Eagles say when
the reality is like, I don't know, I kind of
like it. I don't like every decision they made. That one.
(03:21):
I don't mind. I know they choked, but again that decision,
I don't mind. You have to you have to be
able to process. Hey, I don't like him. He's you know,
it's like a WWE persona doesn't seem like that's how
he really is, or if he is, he's just annoying.
All those things are fine, fair, okay, but you also
(03:44):
have to separate that when you evaluate what he's doing
and how he's doing it. And though I don't think
the Eagles are nearly as good as maybe the reputation
of their players says they should be. I thought in
that particular instance, that particular play call, there was nothing wrong,
take one and catch the ball. But I mean, how
many times have we seen people just run the ball
(04:04):
in the line or take kick the field goal and
all of a sudden you get in a prevail defense
and they march it down the field. I love it.
You get a first down, you win a game. One
play to win a game, seg on Barca's got to
catch the ball. Jase, were you in the same place
for the Eagles or is it because you don't like
the Sirianni that you like kind of performative art and
(04:26):
that's kind of what he does.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, I mean, Sara Janni the stuff that I didn't like, Like,
what was it He had the chance to accept a
penalty for a first down wait in the game, and
he declined it which is I think the right call
time wise, But it's just a way he did it,
like he wanted to tell the crowd that it was
his decision to decline it.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
No cut, he's what's called feeling himself.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah, look at me. Check this out. I just sealed
the game for you guys, and then he does this.
You're right. I think the decision to pass that ball
is easy to criticize today, But my goodness, what happens
if you just literally kneel the ball twice? Like that's
(05:10):
what the the manning cast was was talking about, Like
they thought they were gonna do like a tush push
for like two plays and just let that clock go
as far as it possibly can.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
The point. Yeah, no, I got it. I get it.
You absolutely can. They didn't do it that way. I again,
I don't think he's a a great head coach. I
think it's a it's an act and people and players
see through it. I don't care about the fans seeing
through it. Players, I think to see through it. Decline
(05:45):
the penalty again. I understand the idea of running down
the clock and running out the game and not getting
to the ball back, but you run the risk of
this happening, Dan Byer, where are you on Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Yeah, it's funny because I also am not a Sirianni fan,
and we've talked about this. I feel that Jalen Hurts
is more of the adult in the room than the
head coaches, and I think that's a problem. And I
felt the same thing that the people like you and
like me would pile on Nick Sirianni for his decision
last night, and I actually think it's rightfully so. And
(06:22):
the reason is is I've thought of this old adage
over the last few seasons. I think it's very important
in the National Football League. What does the other team
want you to do? And when we use that scenario,
it's usually in short yardage or fourth down situations, late
game situations. What would the Falcons want the Philadelphia Eagles
(06:45):
to do? And that is to throw the ball on
third down? They didn't want him to run it. It
would have taken more time off the clock. To the
point of whether it be tush put you know, brotherly shove,
however you want to say it, whether it's taking a
need to wind down the clock some more more, but
Atlanta wanted you to throw the football because just maybe,
(07:05):
just maybe they'd get an interception or the clock would
stop and you wouldn't get any yards with that. Even
if they didn't get any yards on the third down run,
you're still running another forty seconds off of the clock.
And that's where the decision by Sirianni completely backfired, because
the Falcons didn't have any timeouts they needed to score
(07:26):
that touchdown, and now you also gave them an extra
forty seconds in addition to the yardage that they didn't get.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Here's Nick Sirianni after the game.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
We wanted to they were they were running a certain
defense and junking it up in the middle, so we're
trying to go on around the outside, and you know,
it didn't work. Again in that scenario, I was thinking
they might not have any timeouts there, but obviously they
did with the with the incomplete pass, you know that
would have that would have came down to maybe a minute,
(08:02):
and so we wanted to go up six points, you know,
and it didn't work. So you know, my the decision
to pass it there again, like I said, you know what,
they were junking it up inside with it being fourth
and three to go for I thought, you know, with
them not having any timeouts, I wanted them to be
down a touchdown and see if they could drive the field,
(08:22):
and they did.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Hats off to them.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, So I don't actually mind any of the answer
or any of the response. There's ownership there, there's an
explanation there. He didn't throw Saquon under the bus, even
though he could have. He didn't throw Jaal under the
bus for that horrific interception, even though he could have.
So I don't I don't like the Sirianni Act in general,
(08:48):
but in terms of going for it there, I don't
have a problem. And then the other part too, It
is I have long believed that Jalen hurts and his
one outlier season was just that. You know, it's just
that I don't I don't see him as an elite,
elite quarterback. I stand. I reserve the right to be wrong.
But outside of you know whatever that was fourteen games
(09:11):
or so one year, I haven't been wrong. But those
fourteen or fifteen game whatever, when he got hurt that
MVP year, he was unbelievable, unbelievable. It's the Gottlieb Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. We do have what I
think I think it's an outstanding show for you. Chase
dou did a hell of a job today. There's there's
(09:36):
also you know, the two, there's also the two manas
you guys hear this. This is the two Mannings in
Matt Ryan that on that play call. That was the
timing of it to have a former MVP of former
Falcons quarterback and of course the Mannings in there as well.
This was so good. Take a listen.
Speaker 7 (09:51):
It's got to stay on the ground here, right, Matt.
Speaker 8 (09:55):
This talk shouldn't go in the air the rest of
the game. Yeah. I think Phill.
Speaker 7 (10:00):
I think Philly might be thinking, you know, we got
we got two hours to get three yards.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
No, I'm just saying I think, I know.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
I think they're gonna go to one.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
I think before.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
The push is coming, the push is coming. We can't
throw it here. Hey, look, two yard game here. I agree, Matt,
two yard game here. I think we're going for one.
Speaker 8 (10:23):
He's sneaking it. Oh hi sho, oh.
Speaker 9 (10:39):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
They had it.

do you guys turn off the game?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
I didn't either, but I did. I was like it
was like watchings kind of slow death. You're like, all right,
this one's over. Started to look around. I was on
my phone and then I looked up and like, wait
what And then they saw the replay, like wait, the
last minute forty five of that game was you want
to talk about a schurnaround? And some I didn't. I
had kind of chalked it up and started kind of
(11:25):
moving mentally on from the game. Dampier.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
I just had there was there was a point where
I looked at the clock and they had I think
there was ten minutes left in the in the fourth quarter,
and the game had only taken like two hours and
ten minutes, Like it was only like seven thirty hour time.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
It was like a really really quick game, and.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Because the Eagles were chewing up clock, there weren't a
lot of stoppages, like the game was just moving along.
But because it went so fast, I think I had
a lot of energy. Plus there was a lot of
fantasy stuff that ended up happening at the end, and
there was stuff that I I was involved with. I
got saved because of the Drake London touchdown at the
(12:05):
end in one of my leagues, he ended up scoring
and putting me over the top. I think that's another
reason why people were probably locked in and just wondering
maybe they had Saquon Barkley and needed another catch or
Kirk Cousins or something like that. But yeah, a lot changed.
And then your point about the Jalen Hurts interception. Even there,
you know the Eagles probably had opportunities. There could be
(12:26):
people who had Jake Elliott as a kicker and needed
two points. So that's where fantasy and the betting angles
keep you, keep you locked in, even when if you
kind of moved on field a game.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Over with weren't the Eagles getting or giving five and
a half?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Yeah? I was like six, I think it was. Yeah,
could have been.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Say nobody walked away from that game because you had
to sweat out that field goal at the end, And then.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
I didn I didn't have any money in the game,
so I don't bet on football games. So it wasn't
like I was just I'm watching the game. I was
actually I was at a bar with John Anderson, who
to do Sports Center obviously, who grew up here, And
I'm watching and then end of the third I had
playing time. I went back home. I get home and
I'm watching the fourth and then all of a sudden,
(13:11):
you know, a two minute warning. You're like, this one
feels about done. You know, you start going through the Okay,
what else I gotta do? Well, you're looking up, looking down,
looking up, looking down.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Completely covered up is Drake London's fifteen yard penalty. Yeah,
for the extra point, which was the difference. Young Waiku
ended up making the forty eight yard extra point. But
if he doesn't, then we're all tied up and probably
headed to overtime in that scenario, because what is.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
The rule there? What is the rule on NFL celebrations?
Because he did the like it looked like firing a
gun off into the air.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Yeah, machine gun celebrations are not allowed in a violation.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Okay, yep, I listen, I have no problem if that's
If that's a rule and they know it, that's fine.
Like at that point, I was I remember watching it
and I was ken. I was pouring myself a drink
and I was on the phone and I was just like, wait,
why was that a penalty? And I saw what he did.
I didn't know the machine gun? What else? I'd you know?
Speaker 8 (14:08):
You get?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
You get two hip thrusts not three? Or is that rule?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Cerations aren't allowed? Throat slash we all know is not allowed.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Throat slash I knew of. Yeah, yeah, porch slash.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
I knew if just a few of the things not allowed.
Speaker 8 (14:22):

(14:56):
most physical teams in the NFL, traveling to take on
Pittsburgh weekend. Guess who's gonna start? Justin Fields, Justin Fields,
and you started to know something was up right when
it was a calf and then Justin Fields gained the
opportunity and Field hasn't been great, but went in doubt
(15:18):
he can run it out, whereas Russell Wilson doesn't move
nearly as well and obviously hasn't been crazy impressive and
he's been banged up. I don't know. It's once the
level of competition gets better, we'll find out more about Pittsburgh,
but we should point out they didn't play two of
the best teams in the NFL, and he struggled and
both throwing the football man Mike Trout right field. I
(15:41):
want great center fielders ever ever help me out Baseball wise, Jase,
do how your boys look because most of us been
focused solely, solely, solely on football, and obviously you got
college and pro and I want to talk about the
Tennessee but in Major League Baseball, hey majors. But we're
(16:03):
in the stretch run, and I think the big news
of a couple of weeks ago was obviously, among other things,
the Padres. They continue to kind of track down the Dodgers.
They're three and a half back now three and a
half back in the NL West. Your level of concern
getting ready for especially with the recent peach pitching injuries
(16:25):
with the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Yeah, I'm very concerned. I think that the Padres are
a better team. They're a better team than the Dodgers.
The Dodgers have a lot more talent, but have not
proven and they haven't been fully healthy. They lost their
ace glass now for the rest of the season, and yeah,
I'm my level of concern is at a probably a nine,
(16:47):
nine and a half out of ten.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Well, it's still out there to get the Yankee Dodger.
It's still out there to get that Yankee Dodger World Series.
But it seems increasingly slightly with with with the with
the pitching injuries. You know, there that that Tennessee thing
of baking in the ten percent of the money going
back to the players. Remember next year, I believe these
(17:13):
collectives go away and now you get paid essentially by
the school. They you, the guys outside of the school
controlling who gets the checks goes away, even though the
guys outside of the school write the checks to produce
the checks for the players. That makes sense to anybody.

Your reaction last night, you know, I.
Speaker 9 (17:57):
Think you could make the arguments that it's equally as
great of a win for Atlanta as the devastating of
a loss for the Eagles. My neighbors from Philadelphia and
I saw him this morning and he was just shell shocked.
I mean, you just not a moment in your mind,
you know, and that towards the end of the fourth quarter,
did you think Atlanta would win? And let's be real,
(18:18):
I didn't think Cousins looked that good most of the game.
He hit the one touchdown drive where he basically hit
three straight passes, but other than that, they were bad
in the red zone. They just looked out of sync.
I mean, he looks a little weird in a Falcon jersey,
that's part of it. And then his play, he just
looked rusty and he's new team, new guys. But one
thing stands out when you the risk one. Sat Quan
(18:42):
is not Shady McCoy or Brian Westbrook. He's not a
great for McCaffrey. I would say he has average hands.
Someone text me he have like sixteen drops the last
three years. To me, the risk on that play, given
that they have no timeouts, even if he catches it
ninety percent of the time, it's just not worth it
because you eat him down, and there's a we're all
human beings, you carry yourself a little bit differently when
(19:05):
it's under a minute on the clock and you've got
to go to the full field. I also think with
this new rule before, if I kick it out of bounds,
you know forever our entire life. He started the twenty,
that's a long way to go right now. Starting at
the thirty, you get one play for ten fifteen yards,
you're basically at midfield. And because they didn't run any
(19:27):
clock out, they were at midfield by basically a buck thirty.
And clearly, I mean Vick Vangios had an incredible career,
but their defensive line is getting no pressure and to
play that kind of soft you know, cover two when
your safety's it's one thing to have them back because
you don't want to give up an easy touchdown. But
(19:48):
they were back, and even Fraikman was like, for like
a punt return and they went after the rookie corner twice,
who's a good player. But that's a welcome to the
NFL moment And that was just you easy, Doug. I mean,
that's Cousins. I was just interviewing Jay Gruden and Jay said, like,
if you put Cousins in a seven on seven situation,
(20:09):
he's a top five NFL quarterback. So when you're not
touching him and he gets the pat of the ball,
that was kind of stealing candy from a baby on
that final drive for Kirk.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, you do feel good for Kirk, especially considering the
reputation he's earned in primetime games. What about Jalen Hurts,
I mean, the interception was.
Speaker 8 (20:27):
Bad, man, That was just yeah.
Speaker 9 (20:30):
I actually thought he had played really well because part
of him to be an elite player, running has to
be a huge part of his game. And what I
do respect about him is he really when he runs
can turn into a running back like Lamar turns into
like this great athlete who's so fast. Jalen is not
like I wouldn't say like that level of speed obviously,
(20:51):
but his instinct he looks like Frank Gore running the ball,
but he can slide. But he can also because he's
so powerful. Can you know when he realized I got
a DV can run you over? And he was playing well,
and then in that spot they get the ball back,
they got a couple of timeouts. You're like, well, they
got a good kicker. This is probably And even Achman
was like, I have a little too much time, and
I know he gets hit, but listen to Bait after
(21:11):
the game. He's like, yeah, well we knew he's gonna
go to number six, and it's pretty clear what route
they're going to run, something outbreaking towards the sideline, and
I knew it was coming. And even if he hadn't
been hit, I think it's a very very high percentage
chance that Bates is obviously a high level player, is
right there so that that play was not going to work.
I'd go back, though, Doug like, I don't put the
(21:34):
defensive sequence as much on Sirianni. They're paying Vick fanjo.
He's a high stayed defensive coordinated the league. What's Syriana
gonna do? Tell him what to do? But the offense,
even though he's not the play caller, he is an
offensive guy that to me over rules, like, hey, hey callan.
I like this play too. It's not worth if something
goes wrong, if someone flips, you know, and the ball
(21:57):
obviously hit him in the hands, but he would if
he gets hit airmails them. Let's just run the ball.
Then we kick off, like we're running the ball here,
help kneel the ball, I thought, and I understand the
Eagles who are on the forefront. Now everyone's aggressive, but
they were ahead of the curve on that. How about
early in the game, right it's zero to zero, you
(22:18):
know part of going for it in the second half,
you know the score, You're like, well, our defense is
getting lit up. We need to score touchdowns. Totally get it.
At a zero zero game, you have no clue. And
then all of a sudden, it's like a twelve nine game,
so it's low scoring. The three points was extremely valuable,
extremely valuable. Now it feels like you watch the league,
people just want to kick kicking five yard field goals.
(22:39):
No one ever wants to kick the ship the chip
shots anymore. And I thought that kind of came back
to bite them, like it's third and it's third and
four from or fourth and four from the nine yard line.
Just kick the field goal. You're up three nothing the
higher game left. You have no clue what the course
of the game is going to be. What everyone is
so quick to just thought, we don't need a few
(23:00):
field goal and at the end of the game's like
I would have liked that field goal.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
What what about Atlanta? You know, Kirk looks so bad
last week and obviously good last night.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
Huh did you think he looked good last night beside
a couple drives. No, I didn't. No, I didn't either.
They do. Their defense is physical, you know. I think
the Judaan trade, while risky because he's not under contract,
they gave a pretty good pick. He's clearly a huge
addition for a defensive line that's not good. Their secondary
(23:34):
solid that they play. They hit hard. I mean for
two weeks their defense has not been the issue. And
the one thing you see on offense, and this is
what Zach Robinson just needs to get his inner Kubiak
kyle On, like, you've got one of the best running
backs in the in the almost of the country because
he was he was. All my buddies that scouted were like,
(23:55):
Bijon's one of the best prospects I've ever done. And
you saw glimpses of the last night, like he's a freak.
Just run the ball and it makes a lot easier
on Cousins when you're running the ball. They do have
skill guys, you know, Drake London is a really good player.
Mooney's pretty talented. But I think the easiest way to
ease Cousins in because last night, all of a sudden
there would have been oh and two and then you're
(24:16):
playing the Chiefs, who maybe the Chiefs just kind of
mentally throw in the game. But that's that's not an
easy game. That's obviously they would have been an underdog
in that game. I haven't looked at the line, so
it might be. But I think getting that win in
the faction in which they got it, you know, with
Arthur Blank on the sideline like that to me, just
I know it band aids a little bit sometimes and
(24:38):
you know this, you know, sometimes winning a game late
can band aid like we weren't very good for most
of it, but they desperately needed that. So that was
a huge because all of a sudden, you're zero and
two the Bucks, who have been the playoffs four straight
years of two and oh the Saints looked really good.
They're two and o in like a month, you look up,
you're fighting. They just try to get back to five
hundred and they're like five to two. Hard to overcome that.
(25:01):
So just from a standing standpoint early in the season,
it was a massive comeback win for them.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
God no no Quay and Monday night football. It was
that was that was that was used by the way
they're getting three and a half next week with the Chiefs.
That from from the folks that draft.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
Someone someone had hit me because I think remember that
year in Minnesota two years ago when they went like
twelve and four, they had a bunch of comeback wins
and there because I had mentioned, like, you know, Cousins
doesn't have these moments a lot, and I think they
did that year, but a lot of that year was,
you know, these ten am kickoffs. No one's paying attention
these bright like like did you have any faith when
the drive started that, like what percentage chance you would
(25:42):
have been like Cousins leads them on a touchdown drive.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Ten fifteen.
Speaker 9 (25:47):
Yeah, if you would have said, what do you think happens,
I'd be like, you know, turnover on downs and around
midfield something like that.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Yeah. Yeah. John Minakoff's Our Guest NFL ND three Now podcast.
How much of the Saints win was about the Saints?
How much of it was about the Cowboys?
Speaker 9 (26:06):
Uh? Well, I actuink. You know, the Cowboys when they
get down can kind of unravel and we see I
mean they have for a team that's won what thirty
six games the last three years in the regular season,
they have a decent amount of those, but it's one
thing to lose by, you know, a touchdown or you know,
field goal. They have some games like did they just
get curb stomp like they were the Panthers, So I
(26:28):
would I thought that was more about the Saints is
you never know when these Kubiak McVeigh type guys get ahead,
you know, become an offensive coordinator because they never get
to call plays when they work for that guy and
the Kubiak quint who you know, to me, the Kubiak
Shanahans are the same guy. They're the same family. You know,
Gary worked for Mike or whatever forever played for him.
(26:51):
Like they just they run. Their philosophical belief on running
the ball is different than basically every new coach because
they will run it constantly and when they get a lead,
they will hammer the ball. And here's the other thing.
If you have a pass catching running back in that offense,
it's really dynamic. And Kamara, I mean, through the first
(27:12):
two games, Doug he looks like a throwback version of
some of those Drew Brees Sean Payton teams when he
was young and a stud. So listen, Derek is a
polarizing player, but we've seen him in tougher situations play well.
So you put them in the reason I liked them
coming into the season. They have a good defense, and
if Kubiak was good, they won nine games last year,
(27:34):
so now they're not going to look this good all season.
But to me, they feel like an eleven is ish
win team, you know, because and their offense is just
a clearly better And yeah, I think they're pretty good.
I think that division, you know, I don't know how good.
You know what Atlanta's record is going to be at
the end of the year. But they're clearly pretty solid Caampa.
(27:55):
I mean, the core of their team have won a
ton of games these last four years. And Baker's quick
literally just developed and just established himself as like a
good starting quarterback, good.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Solid, good, good solid starter, got good players around him.
Get that, get those two wide receivers the ball.
Speaker 9 (28:09):
He's lost some weight, he moved around better, and I
think that division actually, you know, subtracted Panthers. That looks
pretty's pretty tough.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Well, let's let's talk Panthers. I watched the tape or
some of it, and it's Bryce Young's lost all confidence. Yeah,
what's it likely he gets it back?
Speaker 9 (28:33):
You know, I think young people, we've all been there.
I don't care what you do for a living, whether
you're sports or in a normal office job. When your
confidence goes as a young person, it can be you
can be floating in no man's land. And I think
when you have a position like starting quarterback in the NFL,
he's clearly mentally tough. He played for Saban, but he
(28:55):
looks like he doesn't have the physical attributes of a
lot of shorter quarterbacks, right like Baker throws a better ball. Obviously,
Kyler is in a different universe as a physical, you know, athlete,
and from an arm strength standpoint, he was always like
an anticipatory, accurate player in college because some of his
bambit teams weren't a stack to some of the early
(29:16):
versions like the one Mac Jones played on. But he's
like skipping balls. So you know, there's a lot of
talk to temper get involved or whatever. You can't really
lie to the rest of the guys on the roster
like this is this is we have no shot, Like
we could be playing you know, LSU or or Georgia,
and if our quarterback play can't complete passes, you can't
(29:40):
win football games. Obviously at the NFL level, playing the Chargers,
I mean that wasn't even for as bad as the
Saints game was, Like that felt equally as you guys
have no shot. So is Andy Dalton any good? I
who knows at this point he's thirty six, thirty seven
years old, But I don't think it's that crazy. Like,
just bro, you need to breathither take a deep breath.
(30:01):
The other thing is they're so bad. This isn't one
of those we saw Zach Wilson. He's going to get
more starts. I mean it could have happened in like
two weeks. Andy Dalton might not even make it out
of a game without getting an intern. So I don't
think he's just done for the year. Clearly, if I
had to put the over under on Dalton starts, it'd
be like two or three games. So we will see
Bryce again. I think the question is it's twofold one.
(30:24):
Getting your confidence back can be difficult because the only
way to get your confidence back is to have success,
and like you said, you just throw in the Charger
Panther game. Is he talented enough to have success?
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I don't know if he's talented enough, but he'll never
He's never We're never going to find out if he
has such little self confidence. How much concern should there
be with the Ravens.
Speaker 9 (30:47):
Well, their offensive line is bad, So when you have
a bad offensive line, I think how many teams just
have good defensive players now, especially on the front four,
and luckily Lamar can run around. But when I looked
up at the score, because you know, there's so many
games going on Sunday morning, and they're up ten points
with like eleven minutes to go play Gardner Minshew, not
(31:08):
in a million years would you have said the Ravens
are going to lose this game. And then they just
kind of stalled out and the Raiders scored a touchdown,
kicked a field goal, and kicked another field goal because
they went field goal, touchdown, field goal. That's a horrendous
loss at home, huge favorite. You're up ten points in
(31:28):
the fourth quarter, like that's I think that game gets
massed a little bit because there was so much going
on Sunday morning. But if that would have been more
of a standalone game on like an afternoon or definitely
a night game, I think that the discourse around the
Ravens would be ten x probably what it is because
that was that was a bad loss, Doug, real.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Quick, Which of these rookie quarterbacks will start playing well? First?
Speaker 6 (31:55):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (31:56):
You know bow nicks that he looks pretty overwhelmed right now.
Caleb's offensive line, and combined with him just being erratic,
at least Jayden can run, so that they might just
have a little more success, I would say, And I
don't even I think they're all gonna it's gonna be
a rough year for them all. I don't think that
much better?
Speaker 6 (32:16):
Do you?
Speaker 3 (32:17):
I do not?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Three and outs of the podcast is on the Volume

Stuck Got Leap Show, Fox Sports Radio. It's a Tuesday,
September seventeenth. This is our like catch your breath for
two days before we get back to the NFL. Usually
talk a little college football sometimes on Tuesdays before we
get to all that, though. Let's let's get up at
Dan Byron play game, shall we?
Speaker 8 (32:56):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Dan, What do you got?
Speaker 3 (33:05):
All right? Doug? The game today is rank up?
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Now on my sheet, I had Doug ranked the top
three teams in the NFL. You tease the bottom teams
in the NFL. Do you want to do the three worst?
Speaker 6 (33:17):
Now?
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Let's too top?
Speaker 3 (33:18):
All right? Okay, top three teams in the National Football League.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
I think I'm gonna annoy you at this pick, and
I apologize, but it's like I know that they very
easily could have lost both of their games at home
at home, but they didn't so and they're defending Super
Bowl champions. And they have a guy who I think
all of us, no matter how careless, he can be
(33:47):
in the middle of a game, at the end of
the game, if he has the ball, you're like, hey,
this one. So I'm gonna go Chiefs one. Now what
do I what I put around? And that's where again
it kind of get it's interesting. I'm gonna put the
Bills too, And then you get now super super interesting,
because you know, do you stay in the AFC, do
(34:10):
you go to the NFC. I don't see how we
can't put the Saints at least three, and you know,
the Panthers that doesn't mean anything, but to go into
Dallas and put forty four on the board, I'm gonna
go Saints three, all right. I don't know how long
it lasts, but I definitely think they've earned.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
It, all right.
Speaker 5 (34:29):
Doug, rank your top three injuries so far in the NFL.
What are the biggest injuries that we've seen in the
ramifications of those injuries, Uh.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Well, Christian McCaffrey is my number one injury because the
ramifications are not just on the field, but also fantasy football.
Is that shure?
Speaker 8 (34:49):
It is?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Okay? Yeah, that's fine.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
I like that, that's my logic behind it. After that, hmm,
I'll put Jordan Love, who just signed the big his contract,
although it hasn't hurt them as they beat the Indianapolis Colts.
He's a quarterback and we'll see if he plays this week.
But I'll put Love at two, and then I'll put
(35:11):
to a tongue Bioloa at three. Actually, let's put to
a two oka and Jordan Love three because Jordan Love
could probably play this week, might not. I don't see
two of playing for a long time this season, if
at all, So I'll put two to two and Jordan
Love three.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
All right, Rank your top three Falcons quarterbacks of all time?
Oh wow, this is a This is a fun one.
Speaker 9 (35:36):
It is.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
It really is, especially if you really know the Atlanta
Falcons kind of weird history. I mean, don't you have
to put Matt Ryan one? He was a league MVP
and they went to a Super Bowl. I feel like
he has to be one. Yes, I think so, but
(35:57):
I don't but Chandler, but you know, what's his name?
Chris Chandler went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
But I don't correct.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
I wouldn't put him on the list. I just wouldn't.
I'm gonna put I'm gonna put Matt Ryan one, Mike
Vic two.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
Okay, bart Kowski had the longevity Chandler has the Super
Bowl now?
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Is it?
Speaker 6 (36:28):
Is? It? Is it?
Speaker 2 (36:29):
When they played for the Falcons? Overall the player? Okay,
I just want to.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
Make sure Jeff George throw a pretty football. Chris Miller
was part of the too Legit to Quit days?
Speaker 2 (36:41):
What was my guy's name? After Mike Vick? Why am
I before?
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Not?
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Joey Harrington.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Matt Schaub was there for a little while, but then
he went to Houston and actually was the this you know,
the star quarterback.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Then I'll go, I'll go Chris Chandler three. I know
he went to a serperpol. Yeah, he's their quarterbacks for
feels like five six years. Yeah, they're pretty good.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
All right.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Finally, Doug, I think a week from now you're going
to be in practice mode, right, full official practice. Yes,
three things you're looking the most forward to as practice.
Your first practice as a head coach in Division one
basketball is less than a week away.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Looking forward in practice?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Yeah, yeah, what are you looking forward to the most.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Three is three is the three is the like the
energy of practice. We've been going, you know, three four
days a week anyway for an hour a day, but
the energy of hey, now it's real. Now we're getting
you know, we're like, well we thirty seven days away
from playing a game. So the energy of it, first,
the consistency of being able to do it. We can
only do it five days a week here of five
(37:48):
days a week, and honestly starting to put together a
first team, which not only you put your best players together,
but it also motivates all the other guys and tells
them where they really stand in your eyes. And that's
game time.
Speaker 8 (38:06):
This is game time on the dunk GODI.
