DraftKings.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
The Crown is yours. Did you see how the Dodgers
lost last night?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Jay steal a recap for this upcoming in twenty minutes plus,
Daniel Jeremiah will join us. We'll last him about did
the Bears make a mistake, can pick the wrong quarterback.
We'll get to that, but first let's get to the midway.
He's not getting the mid with you.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
It's time for the midway.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Okay, let's go Dann Bayer, Jay Stow, of course, Iowa
saam again. Forgive me. I've had the I've had a
bit of a morning, all right, I had a bit
of a morning.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Would you like to expend on that?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Who is now?
Speaker 6 (01:42):
Who?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's been a midway morning?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Whose idea was the midway? I'm sorry, we're on the
group text. I did. I know what the topic is,
but we all kind of throw it out on a Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
Who was it?
Speaker 5 (01:54):
I would say, like ninety nine percent of the time,
it's my my idea. I was overwhelmed by the amount
of feedback that my group texts got today, so thank
you for everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I was good with it.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
So I didn't respond, and I will fight back of
that ninety nine percent that is not true, Jason, Come on,
ninety nine percent is you?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Ninety percent? Is us not responding?
Speaker 5 (02:16):
That's true?
Speaker 6 (02:17):
So like once every ten times we'll be like, I
don't know about that one.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
But I was cool with today. I think today's a
fun one.
Speaker 7 (02:22):
I sent three hang loose hand emojis, and so that
meant I agreed and I approved, I endorse.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
I forgot to tell Sam to in place of the
music bed, please have Zuropa queued up. And this is
the reason why today it's my long standing theory that
this is the NFL version of Zuropa, that they put
(02:50):
out a poor product. We all acknowledge it as being poor,
but nobody is motivated to improve it because they're making
tons of money. The race could not be higher, and
they are testing the market to see if they will
still buy dog Craft and we have and we do.
(03:10):
So it motivated me to.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Come up with this.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Topic of all this kind of below average quality of
play out. There is there a team right now that
no matter what you're doing on Sunday or whatever, you're
going to find this team are at the very least
you're going to pay attention closely to what happens to
this team because it intrigues you. Now here's the caveat
(03:37):
Our favorite teams are excluded from this conversation. That's too easy.
So Seahawks are out, a Chargers are out for US,
Packers are out for Sam. What's the team that you
seek out to watch among all of this subpar quality.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
I that I will start. I will start. I am
so intrigued. And it's funny because the Seahawks play them
on Monday Night. I am so intrigued by the Lions.
This whole Lions story for so much of our lives
has been this miserable franchise, and now not only are
they at the top of their game, but I think
(04:23):
that they are fully legit. I'm not saying that they're perfect,
but this isn't a flash in the pan. This isn't
a one off they had one good season. This isn't
a Jaguars sort of deal. This is a team that
is constructed and put together so well, and a team
that I think people will not want to face in
(04:44):
the postseason, and they're likely going to have to face
them in Detroit because I still think that they have
a good shot to win that division. I am so
intrigued by the Lions. They're actually fun to watch with
gibbson Montgomery in the back field, the targets and the
way they throw the ball. Yeah, I am The Lions
(05:06):
are are the team that make me very interested.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
That's not my own team.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Chase do.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
So I'm going to give I'm going to say that
Dan Bayer gave me credit for this. You know, I
was listening on a Sunday one morning and he was
on with the Kerry Rhodes and he said, you know what,
I'm going to give Jason Stewart credit for this because
he's the one who brought it up as a story.
I hadn't given it a whole lot of thought, but
I've given it more thought, and I think it's a
(05:38):
good narrative. Even though the Chiefs are in the division
with my Chargers, I am following the Chiefs very closely.
And it has nothing to do with Taylor Swift. I
could care less or I couldn't care less. I am
intrigued by threepeat. In our lifetimes, we've never had her repeat, obviously,
(05:58):
and how often in our world we do this every
day we wake up, we consume sports content every day.
Wouldn't it be a nice gift to us to have
something that's never happened in the history of sports? Three
straight Super Bowl winners. I cheer for that. I think
(06:20):
we should embrace greatness, we should pull for it. So
outside of the Chargers running into them during the playoffs,
I'm going to root for a three peat for the Chiefs.
Does that make sense?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, I think this.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
No.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I was just gonna say.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
The other thing about them is is we've kind of
talked a little bit about.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Them turning into the Patriots a little bit.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
I was rooting kind of against them on Sunday Night,
where you have that.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't have a dog in the fight, but they're there.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
I kind of want to see them lose or see
them not come out in the end and end up
getting the victory. I think there's something to that hate
watching with the Chiefs sounds kind of harsh, but I'm along.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I'm along those lines.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I think most people are. I think most people have
reached that phase.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I'll just tell you guys, I not hate watching. I
like watching the Minnesota Vikings, the hate watches. I watch
the Philadelphi Eagles hoping they lose. I just I can't
stand Siriani. I don't think Jalen hurts particularly good or
he's particularly great. I think he's fine. I just think
(07:29):
he had one great year where they kind of took
the league by storm. They had an unbelievable talented group
around him, and after that he's regressed toward towards the
means doesn't mean he's bad. He's just not elite. And
I root for them to lose. I do root for
them to lose.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
That's my hate watch me too, me too.
Speaker 7 (07:47):
I'm with you on that, Iowa, Sam, this is a
love watch for me. A team that I'm seeking out
to see them really dominate this year, that would be
the Buffalo Bills. I picked them as my super Bowl champion.
I feel like they're still in that window of being competitive.
Josh Allen's in his prime and he's been spectacular. They've
(08:08):
scored the most points so far in the NFL with
one hundred and twelve. They lead the league in point
differential at plus sixty four. The Bills are fantastic. It
looks like, you know, let's listen. Let James Cook. He's
been fantastic.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
I see what you did.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
They've got it, thank you. They've got it figured out.
Speaker 7 (08:28):
But maybe not with the Chiefs yet, but they've got
it figured out at home, especially what they did to
the Jags.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
They laid them to waste.
Speaker 7 (08:36):
And the Bills are a team that my buddy Dylan
really loves, so he's always really enthusiastic to watch them,
so I will join him and cheer for the Bills,
and they're pretty fun to watch.
Speaker 6 (08:48):
I could say another thing about the Bills, which I
agree with, is there is a twist to the story
where sometimes a team will just be the same old
team and you know how the story is going to end,
and then it usually ends that way. And I feel
like with Buffalo, with the subtraction of Stefan Diggs and
(09:09):
this great start, there is a there's a fresh feel
about Buffalo. But what makes that great is when it
comes to playoff time again, if they go up against
Kansas City, then the then the history comes in, like
all right, is this really the new Bills? And they
were just the same old team like they were the
previous year. I don't know if we would have that
(09:31):
sort of feeling, because we would there was some toxicity
around them, but this is a fresh new start for them,
so we feel that things are different and maybe, oh,
now is the opportunity. Now is the time for us
to break through. And we don't know if they're going
to do that or not, but that would.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Make what part of what makes them in Drinking underrated,
underrated story to watch guys, you know the Texans just
lost to the Vikings. Stefan Diggs, if he a cancer
in that Texans locker room, that will make three teams
that he's been a cancer on. And notice how free
(10:07):
the Bills are playing. And did you guys, this is
one of the most unreported things of the week. Did
you hear Josh Allen talk about his receiver room and
his skill players after the game on Monday Night?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
When guys get to buy into this and really understand, like,
I may not get the ball four or five times
thrown to me a game, but the one or two
times I do, I'm gonna have opportunities.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
Being the in zone.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
And it's a fun and wonderful thing when you got
a bunch of guys that don't care about the stats,
they don't care about the touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Stefan Dicks, craigt ah good stuff, good stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
So good, so good, excellent, excellent stuff.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Yeah, they are, they are, They've been fun. They're fun
in fantasy. I have Josh Allen as my quarterback, so
it's always nice when he can win a game for
on the first half of a Monda night football game.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Can I give you another hate hate watch Oh yeah,
does anybody don't like watching the Cowboys lose. There's like
two groups of people on earth, Cowboy fans and everybody
who likes watching the Cowboys lose. And I don't have
any animus towards the Cowboys. It's just fun to watch
them lose. I don't. It's the massive freak out of
their fans. It's the Jerry Way Yep, whale, whale, whale, right,
(11:28):
it's that part. It's the TV like every part to
it is. I love it. It's better than watching, Oh
we been watching Duke. Better watching Duke lose. It's better
watching Notre Dame losing football pri Alabam watching Oklahoma watching
their meltdown is gonna be fun, gonna be fun. I
know nothing, nothing's as good as watching the Cowboys lose.
(11:50):
It's just an enjoyable experience. I remember walking into a
sports bar last year. I'm with my son Hayes. We're
at a basketball tournam that we get a little time
Packers Cowboys, and we're and the game's over at the
half for like, this game's over. It's like I know,
He's like, are you enjoying it? I go, I'm enjoying it.
I mentally, it's like me too, and my son he's
like he's fifteen now. He doesn't have any animates towards
(12:12):
the Cowboys, but it's just fun to watch a move.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I don't have as much hate towards the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
I don't have hate either. I just like watching them move.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
I think it's more for their fan base. I don't
have this inks towards Jerry Jones that some people have.
I actually appreciate him always talking to the media and
whether he's right or wrong, he gives everybody a reason
to chat. Dak getting his contract I know rub people
some people the wrong way, but I don't know. Dak's
(12:41):
not a dislikable player by any means, and.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
So it's got a football it's.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
I think it's just where their fan base and now
the miserable times that they've had since they last won
a Super Bowl going on thirty years almost. That's kind
of the funny thing is just how ridiculous some of
the fan bases are. That's fine, how much difficult to
I think, to really really hate for their key pieces.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
Speaking of their fan base. Personal story yesterday, I was
at my chiropractor. UH side story I've never been to
a car proctor until.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
How good does that feel that first time?
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (13:18):
I do.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
They go like, we had these neck problems twenty two
years and like twenty two years and then yeah, they like,
oh my god, it's so much better, and you're like
three inches taller. Of course, then your back tightens up later,
and I.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Think Jason was taller today. I will say, you stretched earlier, Mike,
are getting closer to the ceiling there.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
You should have gone to the chiropractor. He wishes he
was a little bit taller.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
I'll tell you what. The whole time I'm with them,
I think of that one scene in the Simpsons. I
don't watch the Simpsons, but I remember this one scene
where Homer goes to the chiropractor and the chiropractor does
his adjustment and he's like, how do you feel, Homer?
And Homer's like, I feel a little better, and the
chiropractor says, I thought, so I'm gonna have to see
(14:04):
you three times a week for a very long time.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
So anyways, my chiropractice is like, what do you do
for a living? All this stuff? And he's like, oh,
what do you think of the cowboys? And I said
to him, what Doug just said. I love watching them loose.
I love Sunday, I love watching them loose. And he's like, yeah,
I'm a Cowboys fan. But he said he said something
very interesting to me. He said, I really wish this
(14:29):
America's Team thing could go to somebody else because I
think it puts pressure on that team.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
That's interesting because they don't lose because the pressure. They
lost cause their defense sucked and Deck's just not that good.
So they and they got a running back who's washed. Like,
what are we.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Doing if my notes are correct?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Pressure? Oh my god, the pressure. You don't get a pressure.
The Baltimore Ravens come in. They were owing to two
in the season. You don't want to go owing three.
You're on the road, Like that's pressure too. Sorry, go ahead, Sam.
Speaker 7 (14:59):
Jay, come on, Jason, share that on the air on
I mean, chiropractors know something about pressure, or.
Speaker 6 (15:03):
Doug, Oh, hey, are chiropractor is a doctor?
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Kind?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
So they call themselves a doctor.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
I know they call themselves the doctor, so to do
English professors who get their doctorate, they're not a doctor.
The only thing that's the doctor is if somebody is
choking on an airplane. You say, is there a doctor
in the house. You're like, yes, I'm a doctor.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
M D Yeah, MD.
Speaker 7 (15:24):
I was gonna say, though, Doug, it sounds like you
want at least half of the NFC East.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
To go up in flames.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
From my understanding, I mean the NFC East is they're
just the home of the most obnoxious humans on Earth,
right so watching them lose is quite enjoyable.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
If we agree.
Speaker 7 (15:42):
If the Commanders keep winning, are you gonna do you
like that? Or are you gonna go the.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Only the Commanders is they haven't been good in so long.
And you know, I love the when the number two
pick falls their way. I don't know, I'm I'm not
bothered by it. And I think dan Quinn's a really
good coach. And by the way, him leaving the Cowboys
is probably what's the biggest issue with the Cowboys right now.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
And by the way, to go along with the America's
team thing. When you look at the NFL, the Dallas
Cowboys are the only team that gets a pass for
what division they are, and when it comes to geography,
they're the only ones they put up a stink that
they wanted to stay in the AFC. East with Washington
with New York with Philadelphia. So when realignment came, Dallas
was not moved from the NFC East. So that makes
(16:21):
them different than all other thirty one teams in the
National Football League.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
It's crazy, but it's true. So never think about that.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
So they would be in the NFC South, and then
who would be in the NFC East. Who's the Panthers?
Speaker 6 (16:37):
Right, yeah, the Panthers are in the South with the Falcons,
and no, I.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Mean the Panthers would go to the East, and that
the Cowboys would go to Oh.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:49):
To that point, Kansas City's in the West because they're
just earned AFC teams that are out west, so they
end up being in the West. Did you are you
sure a chiropractor said what do you think about the Cowboys?
Or did he say how about them Cowboys?
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Look, here's the thing about chiropractor is not a doctor,
But when you have a pinchon, you're like a rib
out nobody you'd rather see on earth. Right, Even a
doctor doesn't do you any good, but they also do
the I need to see it three times a week.
I was in San Antonio vacation with my family and
I like threw a rib out like Hayes as little
as like throwing them up in the air, you know,
and all a sudden, like your back gets all tight
(17:27):
and tweaks. Go to a chiropractor and the guy looks
at the he makes me take take X rays. I'm like,
can he just crack my back? He's like, yeah, we
need X rays. We do X rays and he looks
at it and he calls me and he's like, I hate
to tell you this, but has anybody to told you
have severe scoliosis? Like I bet when you were a kid,
it really limited your chances of playing sports. It's like nope, nope, nope.
He's like, well you play in high school? Like yep,
(17:50):
what sport? It's like basketball. It's like, well, you couldn't
have played that much, Like well, yeah, it was kind
of decent. And then I kind of did you play
and it's like I played in college, played professionals.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Like really, It's.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Like, maybe my back's just out and after you crack
it it will be back in Remarkably, I did not
need three times a week, even though he prescribed that
as well as multiple strits. How about Cowboy And that's
The Midway, The Midway.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
This is the best of the Done dott Leap Show
on Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Radio, Boom Up America, Doug Gottlieb Show, Bye Sports Radio.
Coming to you from the ti rack dot com studios.
Tyrack dot com. What'll we get there? Unmatched selection, fast,
(18:46):
free shipping, Free road has protection over ten thousand recommending dollars.
Ti rat dot com. It's way tire buying should be
welcome in Hope. You're having a wonderful, wonderful day, and
I think lots of people are every wonderful days, with
the exception of maybe I don't know the coaching staff
at at UNOV. Is that is that? What it is? Yeah,
the coaching staff at UNOV. There's a lot to discuss, Okay,
(19:10):
a lot to discuss, and we want.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
To get to it.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
I want to get to it. I want to educate
you on what's going on in college athletics, what this
is really all about, and and my perception of it.
This is like things that are in your wheelhouse. Oh,
for a college basketball coach, this is this is frankly
pretty awesome. This show is sponsored by DraftKings. Stay tuned
because you'll hear more about Draft Kings and all it
(19:34):
has to offer throughout the show DraftKings. The crown is yours. So, uh,
Matt Sluca was a star quarterback at holy Cross. Holy
Cross is a What do they think about FCS now?
Is that what it is? FCS? FCS? FCS is the
old one double a right, if you're old enough to
(19:55):
remember what one double a football is, that's FCS. So
what happened is they're three and zero on the season.
They've been one of the surprises of college football, and
today we found out on social media they've lost their
quarterback for the season. Okay. Marcus Comarti is Sluca's NIL representative.
(20:20):
He said that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of
one hundred thousand dollars from UNLV coaches during his recruitment,
but none of that money was paid. Cromarty said Sluka
was offered three thousand a month contract by the school
and their NIL collective after he enrolled. Comarty has said
Sluka received a three thousand dollars travels stipend for relocation.
(20:43):
Rob Sein, who oversees Unov's NILE collective, told Yahoo Sports
that the collective never agreed to one hundred thousand dollars
deal with SLUCA sign again, who oversees the anil's collective said.
Cromarty first introduced himself to unov's collective officials in late
August Seekimore and Iol opportunities for SLUCA. Uh sign or
(21:05):
Senate said Camarti is not a is not a licensed
agent in the state of Nevada. In Nevada, UNOV said,
sluca's representative made financial demands to continue playing, which the
university interpreted as a violation of NCAA pay for play rules.
UNOV does not engage in such activities. You know, v
(21:26):
does not engage in such activities. Okay, So what's it
all mean? Just a guess was I don't know what
was told to him, what was promised to him? I don't.
I do know that the only thing that's mattered, that
matters is the collective agreement that you generally sign before
(21:49):
you start playing. Remember, he didn't have this NIL representative
before he agreed to play at UNLV. This is after
he started playing at UNOV. They met him in August
and he blows up, has three big games, and now
they come in saying we want more money. Whereas you
know V He's like, well, you sign the deal for
three thousand dollars a month? Like, why do we have
to pay you more money? Why do we have to
(22:10):
pay you more money? Right? Why? Why? Buyer? What's your
assessment of this? I'll tell you mine in one second, Doug.
Speaker 6 (22:23):
I you know this is not as much in my wheelhouse,
but it does seem like another piece of the Pandora's
box is is gone has come about because of all
of the nil stuff. I actually don't blame the kid
if his story is correct and wants to play again.
(22:44):
I'm not sure if he's got an NFL future, but
this may be his only opportunity to cash in on
his playing days now, this is the route that he
has to take. Or felt that he was promised, then
I back him up.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Okay, I don't know if he was promised one hundred
dollar dollars and all he got was a three thousand
dollars month. First of all, if he just promised to
one hundred thousand dollars, why did he sign the three
thousand dollars month deal? Right? Why did he sign the
three thousand dollars a month deal? That's the question. I
(23:17):
completely agree with you, Dan, completely if he was promised
one hundred thousand dollars and all he was getting was
three thousand dollars a month, well then you know, don't
play said, but that doesn't stand up to the smell
test because the smell test says there's a signed contract. Remember,
(23:38):
these NIL deals are in fact a signed contract, and
you have to when you when you meet with the team. Right,
they have what's called Alston money. That's money that every
school has.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
UH.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
It's about three thousand dollars a semester. It's supposed to
be like an academic enhancer, but some'll just give it
to all their student athletes. You can also you also
get what's called cost of attendance in Las Vegas. It's higher.
It's the general cost of what it would cost to
live on campus and be a regular student. So you
get a couple thousand dollars a month, and then you
(24:15):
get three thousand dollars from NIL. So he's probably pocketing
six seven thousand dollars a month. He signed a deal
for anil worth three thousand dollars a month. And my
guess is, and it has been reported by some, is
that it doesn't matter what his lawyers and representatives. The
UNLV people are like, dude, he agreed to the deal,
(24:37):
had a couple of very good games. I'm sure somebody
called his representative or agent and said, shut it down now,
so you can red shirt this year and won't pay
you a million dollars next year. Okay, if that was
the case, Dan, how would you.
Speaker 6 (25:03):
Well if he signed something and is now trying to
put the squeeze on UNLV, then obviously I think things
would be different.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Yeah, good to me.
Speaker 7 (25:16):
Yeah, he's gonna come out on the losing end of
this because the one hundred thousand dollars agreement was just
a handshake deal, and that obviously there was a lack
of communication between the assistant who allegedly promised this money
and the head coach. It sounds like there was a
communication breakdown there though. But ultimately, yes, he has to
take that red shirt year and sit out because he
(25:40):
has no other options. Really, I don't think he's going
to make that hundred k anywhere else. If you look
at his stats, he's he's been he's been a great
leader for them. He's not like blowing it up stat wise,
but they're three to zero for the first time in
like four decades, Like they're having one of their best
seasons in a long time.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
So okay, so what's reasonable to believe that the assistant
coach promised the bunch of money. He signed a deal
for three thousand dollars and they like, I don't understand
how that would work.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
Well, he's a young man, and sometimes when you're young,
you have to learn the hard way that you need
things in writing. So he had a little money to
introduce him to the organization the team and get him incentivized.
And he thought that there was a six figure payday
coming and it completely fell apart. And if if you know,
head coach otom didn't know anything about this, and then
(26:28):
it's just pretty alarming.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
JAYSETU, what do you think What I'm.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Most fascinated with with this story is this you have
a kid who has a year of eligibility and he
wants to like probably make the most money he'll ever
make in a single year in his life after this,
no question. And I think that that's that's a very
compelling part of the story. And he does have the
(26:55):
right to red shirt. This is well within the rules.
In other words, after three games, you could just say
I'm out and then start all over with your eligibility
next year. I'm asking the room here. I guess that's
that's true. If that's the case, then I'm intrigued by
this and who will who will pony up next year
for what like a twenty five year old that has
(27:16):
this guy's last week?
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Well, lots of few, ol, there's just not very There's
not that many good quarterbacks. Okay. If if he was
promised the money it was agreed to, I don't care,
it's verbal whatever, then it's bull crap that he didn't
get it. But again, I'm thinking logically here, and I
want other people to understand how NIL agreements Workkay, You're
(27:38):
not supposed to be able. Coaches aren't supposed to be
able to negotiate the NIL, especially assistant coaches. You sit
with the collective, the collective gives you a contract, You
sign that contract. If you sign a contract that says
you're getting paid three thousand dollars a month from UNLV's collective,
(27:58):
then guess what you're in three thousand dollars a month
plus cost of attendance plus Alston money, and that's what
you're making. And maybe, maybe, maybe maybe you can make
above that okay in some sort of bonus or if
they don't have all of your rights. Depends on what
the what the contract actually how it actually reads. It
(28:22):
feels like based upon the idea that you signed a
contract for three thousand dollars a month, that somebody came
in and tampered told his agent runner who's not really
an agent in the state of Nevada, hey shut him
down and he can play for us. And that is awful.
That is horrendous. That is not the spirit of what
anybody would do. If you agreed to a contract for
(28:44):
the entirety of the season, then you play for the
entirety of that season. Now, what it's going to cause
is it's going to cause people to rewrite their contracts
and say, again, like, you're not going to get paid.
Why should he get paid when he's not going to
ender services. If you don't show up to work, if
you sign a contract to do that job, you have
(29:04):
to be at that job. No e chuses otherwise, no
chueses otherwise. None. So I understand how it reads. But again,
this is a lot of We've seen a lot of
(29:27):
this in other things. We'll get to the Brett Farvr thing.
Upcoming as well, right where it reads like, man, Brett Farvre,
he got money and they were stealing it for people
who were desperately in need. I got it. But there
is nowhere in there that Brett Farber's like, hey, let's
take the money from the people that are are poor, broken, homeless.
Like do you really think Brett Farber's that guy? I don't.
I like to think, and there's nothing that says that
(29:47):
he is that guy, So I'm not. I know, people say, well,
you're just team the guy because you're the met. No, no, no,
I know how this works. I know how this works.
When a contract is signed and an nil is a
(30:09):
signed contract, Okay, he had a sign contract. If he
was really offered one hundred thousand dollars and he wasn't
getting one hundred thousand dollars, then guess what he should
have done.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Never play a game.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
But that's not the reality. If there's a signed contract
for three thousand dollars a month, then guess how much
he was making three thousand dollars a month. Don't be fooled,
okay by I mean like, look, this is how it
always works. It's never the kid, it's always the parent.
Or Quasi want to be Agent?

App Doug Otlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Did you guys
see the end of the Padres win over Thela dot? H?
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Jaycedu?
Speaker 1 (31:03):
Would you if you will indulge u? As Daniel Jeremiah
joined Just NFL analyst hosts to Move the SIXX podcast,
A San Diego Gin and a Padre fan, H Jay Stu,
if you could, could you recap for us how that
Padres game ended?
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Okay, here's a long story short uh, the Padres needed
to win a game last night to qualify for the postseason.
The Padres entered last night's game three games behind the
Dodgers for the division and this is a monumental series
for both teams. It was four to two in the
bottom of the ninth inning, Nobody out. Four to two.
(31:37):
Bottom of the ninth inning, nobody out. Sho Hao Tani
is on deck. A slappy Mendoza line hitting Miguel Rojas
steps to the plate with a runner on first and second,
tyn run at first base. Mcguil Rojas should take three
pitches down the middle and let sho Hao Tani hit.
(32:00):
Mcguil Rojas should not have done anything to get in
the way of Shohel Tani. Dave Roberts gives him the
bunt sign on the first pitch, did not get the
bunt down. Dave Roberts takes the bunt sign off on
the second pitch. Mcguil Rojas could have done several things
(32:21):
in that moment, but he does something that I don't
think has ever been done in the history of baseball.
He hit into a natural triple play with the tie
run on first base and nobody out natural triple play
third to second to first. Game over. Padres are within
(32:42):
two games of the Dodgers, and they're surging. And I
could not be more upset at Dave Roberts because his
justification after the game was I put the bunt sign on,
he didn't get it down, and then I took it
off because the Padres had the wheel play on. In
other words, the Padres had their infielders up, the shortstop
(33:04):
was going to third, we would have we would have
bunted into a force play. And my answer to that is,
who gives a crap mcguil. Rojas was meaningless. Sho Hail
Tawani was on deck.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Daniel Jeremiah joins us here on the Dog Gotlic Show
on Fox portrayo, how much did you how much you
do you enjoy watching him squirm over the decisions of
his manager?
Speaker 8 (33:33):
So good man, I absolutely love it. This is what
I love about the Dodgers fans too, by the way,
is that I'm watching. I watch a lot of the
postgame stuff and I listen to everybody, and it's you know, oh,
you know the Dodgers. You know, even like this the
reecap there was four to two. First of all, coming
into the ninth inning, it was four to one. The
only run the Dodgers scored with the billion dollar offense
(33:53):
was off of a throwing air by Bogarts in a
game where where Tatist doesn't do anything, Arise doesn't anything,
Manny has one hit. You know, we I think the
Potteries were two for ten with runners and score position
at all. They time, Wow, we just didn't hit with
runers and scirms. I'm like this game. I mean, it
was an unbelievable ending, but like anybody that watched that
game for nine innings and came wways thinking that the
(34:16):
Dodgers or anything but the second best team in that
game last night is crazy. We have a better team
than they do. There's been years where it's like the
Patres have to play a perfect game. Even when we
knock the Dodgers out in twenty two, it's like, Okay,
we got to play our best. Hope they don't play
their best. And now I'm like, I don't even care
for the wild card or not. There's no fear of
playing the Dodgers. We got a better team than they do.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
That's the voice of Daniel Jeremiah. Let's get to football,
shall we. Let's get the football keep going. No, no, no, no, no, no, listen,
you can you can join me anytime you want to
talk baseball. I need I need a football brain for
nine minutes. Okay, okay, did the Bears make a mistake
(34:57):
on on Kada Williams?
Speaker 8 (35:00):
No, no, I think everybody's freaking out now. And look,
let's start. First of all, the obvious thing that people
are going to say is that, well, Jayden Daniels, you
know they should have taken Jane Daniels and Jade Daniels
is playing great, and he played lights out one of
the best games from Ricky Quarterback to the Night Again Cincinnati.
But I said it repeatedly in the in the run
up to the draft, Jade and Daniels, if this was
(35:21):
a race, is going to start ahead of Caleb. He's
just further developed. He has a higher floor than Caleb.
He's played a lot more football than Caleb has, and
he's going to start ahead of him. And now Caleb
has a lower lower, lower floor, higher ceiling, and there's
going to require some patience for him to develop. But
(35:43):
I look at young quarterbacks, especially first year guys, and
when you go to the tape, if I can find,
you know, five to ten plays that I'm like, okay,
there's the there's some really good things in there. And
then you're just going to have the usual, you know,
growing pains, mistakes, young player stuff that you're going to see.
The different it's between that and like what was going
on with Bryce Young. Was with Bryce you'd go through
(36:04):
the tape and you're like, man, I couldn't find those
five plays, you know? That was that was what was
concerning there.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Okay, what about Bryce Young? What does it say that
Andy Dalton can go in there and beat the.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
Raiders well watching that tape. First of all, Andy Dalton
did play great and he the Raiders were terrible, but
Andy Dalton was everything. He threw, was on time. They
have major issues up front along the offensive line. They
you know, don't have a ton of separation, but he
was on time and threw the ball as accurately as
you could. So that, first of all, give Andy Dalton
(36:39):
some credit. Their Second of all, Doug, it doesn't matter
what sport it is. You know, when when it's as
bad as it had been for the first two weeks
for the Carolina Panthers and you've got a new coach
like that was that was definitely a rallying cry, like
this is all hands on deck. This is an embarrassed
group of dudes. And they went out there and h
and played by far the best game that they've played
(37:01):
this year. And for what it means for Bright, look,
Bright's needs to be fixed. I don't know if that
happens in Carolina or somewhere else, But I don't know
if you know from last year, the tumult that they
had with all the different voices and the concerning lack
of talent around him and footwork changes and a lot
of different things went into that stew for his point,
(37:21):
for his performance, he looked a little bit broken when
I was there just a couple of weeks ago, and
I think, look, I hope it happens for him. I
hope it happens for him there somewhere else. But there
was no question that was the right move at the time.
They had to get Dalton in there.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Okay, let me ask you a couple more quarterback questions.
Is Tim Jeremiah joins us here in the Doug Gotlib
Show on Fox Sports Radio. Do we look at Daniel
Jones any different after how he played this weekend with
my league Neighbors starting to look like an unbelievable talent.
Speaker 8 (37:53):
Yeah, Neighbors is awesome. He's been really really good and
he's getting a ton of target sees by far their
best guy. I think you're going to see teams be
a little bit smarter in how they try and defend
them and uh and really try and take him away
because the gap between him and everybody else weapon wise
on that offense is pretty severe. But I think you know,
Daniel Jones, this is the thing. It's can you do
(38:14):
it consistently? You know, he's had some moments, but now
at this point where he is in his career, compared
to what we're talking about with you know, with caleber,
Bryce Young, those guys like Okay, now it's this point
in time, second contract time, you're making some good money,
Like Daniel Jones is gonna starts stacking games like that
one one after another.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Definitely has the start side games. Uh. Saints get beat
at a home by the Eagles. Eagles talk a lot
of trash and say like, hey, look what you know
Derek Carr pretender how responsible for that loss was Derek Carr?
Speaker 8 (38:47):
Well, they got after him a little bit upfront, But
Derek's kind of been you know, he's he's been pretty
consistent in his career when he's had pockets, when he's
had clean pockets. And look, I said about every quarterback, right,
you protect them, they play better. But there is something
to that. I mean, Derek, when he can get into
a rhythm, I think it's more not like you know,
he's from a panic standpoint as much as it is,
(39:08):
he's kind of a rhythm guy. And when he can
get in the same spot, hit your back foot, get
the ball out, have have you know, operating room within
the pocket, he can find himself into the rhythm of
the game. He never got into the rhythm of that game,
and that's because the Eagles were able to collapse on
him and they kind of got after him inside out
versus outside in.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (39:35):
I mean, I'm I'm going to give him. I'm gonna
be generous and give him a path this week, Doug,
which I just I watched that tape and with the
Ravens that Ore went to knowing how desperate they were,
and then knowing that, Okay, Lamar is going to be
very active as a runner because it kind of felt
(39:55):
like a must win game for Baltimore when he's running
and then they're Henry has one less guy to tackle
him because you have to account for Lamar on every
single play as a runner. That was going to be
a little bit of a tricky, uh operation. They were
trying to slow that run game down and they couldn't
do it. I don't know, there's many teams when they
were going like that with their run game. There's many
(40:17):
defenses that would have had anything to do for it.
So I'm going to give their defense a little bit
of a pass on that one. But the thing that
troubles me is, you know, I'm not panicking, but are they?
I mean, gimany Christmas? The chirping, the sideline, the postgame
stuff like it's there's a there's a fine line between
urgency and panic, and I think they might be drifting
(40:39):
towards the panic.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
I would I would agree with you. You saw the
Steelers up close, charge your suffered, get out to an
early start, and suffer through a litany of injuries. What
are your thoughts on justin Field? Seeing him in person, I.
Speaker 8 (40:53):
Thought he's playing Steeler football, you know, that's that's how
they want their quarterback to play. And he executed that,
you know, pretty flawlessly. He's getting the ball just a
little bit quicker than he did in Chicago, which is
good to see. Still, the vast majority of throws are
going to stay outside on the perimeter, not trying to
be too big, you know, do too much, and they're
(41:13):
just going to keep running the ball, running the ball,
you know, be careful to hit the tight end, fire moves,
get the ball out to the perimeter. And then he
hit one. Dig that Calvin Austin, who's a little speechter,
you know, he breaks the tackle and he goes and
with the way their defense is playing right now, that's
kind of all they need out of their offense, don't
don't you know? I through one pick on a ball
that got popped up in the air. But you know,
(41:34):
for the most part, you know, we can punt, kickfield goals.
You know, hopefully we pop a run or or squired
a little pass through and that's all you really need.
The bar is pretty low for that offense as well
as the defense is playing.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah, I think that's very accurate, very accurate. Uh, Trevor Lawrence.
What's happened there?
Speaker 8 (41:55):
I don't know, man, It's just they're they're just completely
out of whack, like just totally out of sync. He
looks like he's not confident, which is odd concerning that
they just paid him. I don't know. I almost wonder
with him, you know that line, you see a lot,
you see a little, you see a little, you see
a lot. I almost wonder if they just kind of
go back to treating him almost like a fricky quarterback
(42:17):
and saying, we're not Look, we're going to work on
one side of the field. We're not going to try
and we're not going to try and read everything all
the way out. We're just going to be a little
bit more you know, conservative with that approach and kind
of get you know, put the training wheels back on,
which is not ideal when you've just paid him what
they've paid him.
Speaker 1 (42:34):
DJ, you're the best man for your padres updates, for
all your insight. We truly appreciate it. Thanks for our
guest to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (42:40):
I appreciate it. Jase, do a coca and a smile
would just come.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
