all right, So when you download, you hear this first,
then you hear the rest of the radio show. So
basically this is like an hour radio show, only we
can say and do whatever we want and we don't

(00:54):
more free flowing. We do have something called what the
Fox Says, which is basically we play for you clips
really of the day on either Fox Sports Radio or
Fox Sports One, then I comment on it. We have
some other cool stuff we do, like Your Annoying, where
Jason Stewart, who is annoyed by many, finds only a
couple to be annoyed by the in On a daily basis,
(01:15):
we try and determine who's the most annoying person in
sports on Earth. And then we have something called because
we can, where we play for you, usually an audio
clip of somebody cursing many times with other innuendo, and
we can do it unedited because it's a podcast, so
we call it because we can. So that's a and
(01:35):
we have really good stuff today, Get them with Fox.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Says and now.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
The fuck say, here's every day at this time and
Doug Gotlieb Show in the bonus podcast play for your
portion of previous show Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports One.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Here's Dan Patrick said.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
The only entertaining part of last night's game between the
Cowboys and Giants.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
I think they had over eighty percent of the money
was on the Cowboys to cover. So Brandon Aubrey had
field goals of forty and sixty yards, but he had
a fifty one yarder that would have given the over
as far as the over under a five and a half.
Vegas knows what it's doing.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I'm watching the game and I go.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
What's the points?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Is it five or five and a half?
Speaker 5 (02:19):
And then I go five and a half.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
So twenty to fifteen, and this guy's lining up and
he's pretty much automatic and then he missed it. By
the way, the Giants failed to score a touchdown for
the second consecutive home game. Also, they are the first
team to go without a touchdown in its first two
home games to start a season since Well, the twenty
(02:42):
twenty three Giants did the same thing.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
That was a boring game.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
It was sloppy, a lot of flags, and Dallas wins
it twenty to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Well, I mean, as the guy who told America to
take the Giants in the under, I feel really good
good about it. But yeah, that was those were that
was one of those Giants. Probably brought the Cowboys down
their level. But also we need to reassess what the
level actually is of the Dallas Cowboys, right, that's not
a great football team. They didn't They didn't lose to
the Saints because they were they were really good. They
(03:18):
lost to the st Saints are good, but it's more
the Cowboys have some issues.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Here's the var Aaronton and Brady Quinn talking about perception
that there are more injuries than ever in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
The sport itself has grown so much, so of course
the coverage has has been so high where that's what
you're going to you know, that's what you're going to
experience when injuries take place.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
I also think it's the fact that we've got more angles, right,
Like there's more cameras, there's more shots of it with
social media, and we're all watching it. And then there's
guys who are dieg noticing it, who are from there.
So every little layer to the game of the NFL
I think has kind of not been exploited. But I
think that's a part of it too, is like in
(04:10):
this world of you know, with the Internet and digital
platforms and social media, like we're all trying to educate ourselves.
So we see an injury and we're like, oh, how
has this impact my team, impact my fantasy team, impact
my bet? And also the way the NFL changed the
injury rules. I think it was one of maybe a
couple of years ago. Now, you know, with the different designations,
(04:32):
you know, we know they've you know reconfigure kind of
you know, injury reserve, how that works bringing guys back
and on. So that kind of plays a more meaningful
way of managing the roster, but also looking at you know, probable, questionable, doubtful.
You know, they've they've almost like kind of you know,
eliminated some of the categories that were before and now
(04:52):
it's a little more vague.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, I mean that this is one of those. Are
there more injuries? Are we reporting more? You know, I
don't want to see minor injuries, but more times win
you're hurt, right, Being injured is go to the doctor,
tell us in your back. Being hurt is when hey
put some robotupson on it, you come back. I just
(05:14):
I think that, as Jason predicted, and as we talked about,
the level of play the first quarter of the season
is bad because they don't hit or do much in
the preseason and sometimes yes, in an effort to avoid injuries,
that leads to more. Here's Colin Coward talking about how
much the Cowboys win means last night.
Speaker 8 (05:30):
Nothing No, I mean it means nothing. DAK is twenty
four and four against the Giants in Washington, twenty four
and four. That's it, twenty four to four and Washington
and New York. Since Dak's been in Dallas, win thirty
eight percent of their games.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
They're terrible.
Speaker 8 (05:47):
They're two of the doormats. So Dak and Dallas both
have benefited greatly. And Dak has benefited too. He's not
getting that bag if he's in the NFC North and
he's facing the Packers and he's facing the line, not
one of the those games. But he's gotten rich. Good
for him, Happy for him. Don't resent it. But Dak
and Dallas have benefited greatly from having two lamps in
(06:08):
their division, and to his credit, he's beaten them, I guess.
But they don't be good teams.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
They don't.
Speaker 8 (06:14):
They don't win big road games, big standalone national TV
games against the good teams. Now, for the record, Big
Ben and the Steelers had this for years with Cleveland
and Cincinnati. They just before Burrow got there and Baker
got there, Pittsburgh owned Cleveland and Cincinnati. But Pittsburgh got
two super Bowls out of it.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I just think they found a way to win. I
don't want to overvalue it. It was one that if
they lost, it would have been end of days today
in Dallas. But they survived, they won, They move on.
There's obviously some.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Issues that are going to persist. That's what the Fox said.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Say.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Let's get what Fox says and now.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Say.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Let's find out who are what is annoying Jason Stewart?
Speaker 1 (07:16):
And now it's your annoying.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Jase. Do what's annoying your day? Who's annoying your day?
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Doug? My first beef is with someone on my favorite
team is actually a really good guy. Our Monsei Bolangios
brought it up yesterday during the press and I had
a I had a real negative feeling about it when
she brought it up, and then I got to think
about it more, and then I listened to the podcast.
Mookie Betts had Fernando Tattis as a guest on his podcast,
(07:52):
Fernando tatis Is on the Padres. The Padres are right
behind the Dodgers in the National League West, and even
though they clinched last night, Mookie Best decided to drop
this podcast the day of yesterday's game with the sworn
enemy to the Dodgers. I know that gen Z and
(08:13):
Millennials are all about this. We're cool with fraternizing, and
they're cool with it, but how about people like me
that grew up on baseball, that grew up in sports,
and I'm over the age of fifty, and it's just
a horrible look to be sitting down with the enemy
for a podcast on the day of a third game
(08:36):
in a pivotal series in September. He explained, for whatever reason,
he wanted to get out in front of this and
he thought he needed to feel the need to address
the people that had questions about him doing the podcast
with Tatis. That's what he said.
Speaker 9 (08:52):
A lot of people in the chat, and I'm sure
in the comments and whatnot are thinking that they're saying
that it's funny and kind of easy that we're doing
a podcast right now in the midst of the race.
And so my take on it, and I'll let you talk,
but my take on it is the game, during the game,
(09:15):
like we'll be fighting to win the game, Like that's
that's a given, that's between the lines, right. But I
think I may have said it before, like the brotherhood
that's created playing this game is what you'll always remember
when we get older. We're going to always remember Tatis
(09:35):
as a great player, right, but I'm going to remember
who you were, the person that you are, how you
treated me, how we our relationship more than the baseball stuff.
And so for me, like, right now, this is we're
living a normal life. You know, this is a normal Now.
When the game starts, we're fighting, right.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
Of course, But he doesn't really address the criticism. The
criticism is from the fans that think it's a really
bad look for you to drop this podcast the third
game of a pivotal series. Why not save it and
drop it Monday, the day after the season. I know
this business. I'm guessing that his producers were like, hey man,
we got to get this thing out and be like, Okay,
I make fifty million bucks a year, so I don't
(10:21):
really need the revenue from this podcast. It's going to
be a bad look to my fans to drop it today.
Why don't we save it until Monday?
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Listen, I understand why you're so fired up about it.
I think it's something you should do in the off season,
not during the season. But this is part of the
player empowerment piece. This is and by the way, this
is why pr firms exist because they don't tell you
what not to say. They're like, this is how that's
going to go over, and it's gone over poorly, rightfully.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
So, yeah, and so a common topic in this segment
since we've started doing this has been the w n
B a I have never witnessed in my time as
a professional, a league that is less grateful for more attention.
(11:13):
I've never I've never wants witnessed this. Dennis Smith Junior,
I think is his name, the ESPN uh woke reporter.
He tweeted out yesterday that he's hoping that the w
NBA playoffs don't have as many ratings now that Caitlin
(11:34):
Clark is not in the in the league. They just
he just wants the truest fans, Doug, the people that
are tuning in, that want to root on these girls
and empower these girls. He just wants those fans watching,
and if it means that the ratings take a plummet,
then that's good and utterly awful take by David Dennis Junior. Okay,
(11:58):
and then Cheryl Swid another podcast. She went on the
Angel Reyes podcast yesterday. Now take a listen to this, Doug,
and tell me how backhanded and reluctant this. She says
that she's going to give Caitlin flowers, but listen to
how reluctant she isn't doing it, and then listen to
what she says.
Speaker 10 (12:19):
Ultimately, I am going to give Caitlin Clark her flowers.
Yes I said that.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Oh my god, I don't know.
Speaker 10 (12:27):
But and I'm not going to put it together. I'm
going to give Caitlin her flowers because I think what
she has done coming into this league absolutely has brought
more eyes, whether you like them or not, but has
brought more eyes, more marketing. Like people just want to
watch the game and they want to talk about it,
(12:47):
even those that don't know anything about it, they talk.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
About it a couple couple of key phrases there. Whether
we like it or not, she's brought more eyes.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Why wouldn't you like it?
Speaker 5 (12:59):
You should like it. It's more money for everybody.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
What is there not to like about more people paying
attention to your sport? That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
That's what I'm saying. It's the last couple of days
we've talked about this. The more eyes and the more
people that follow you. We see this with famous people,
the more famous to get the more fucking weirdos. That's
just the percentages you're going to deal with more weirdos,
more racists, more antagonizers, more trolls. And for some reason,
(13:30):
the WNBA is like, no, we don't want that. We're
going to be the one thing that gets more famous.
But then the trolls don't, don't for whatever disappear, but
they're so ungrateful for the attention. It's disgusting.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
I just it's it's crossed over past the annoying part.
It's like, now you sound like a stupid person. Now
you sound like a stupid person.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
So what else? Kyle Shanahan, I know, I know right
away you're going to disagree with this, but humor me
and listen. Listen to this. So it was announced yesterday
that Christian McCaffrey will likely miss a couple more months
with this, with this injury, the caff injury, and it
(14:19):
really pissed me off reading that news. So I tweeted
it out and I said, Okay, everybody who chose to
pick Christian McCaffrey with our first overall pick, whose season
is now torpedoed, you can thank Kyle Shanahan for playing
at Koy with this injury before the season. Remember remember
that whole controversy leading up to Game one where the
(14:41):
rookie running back admitted out loud something that he shouldn't know,
that he knew that he was starting on Friday, and
Kyle Shanahan's like, I didn't say. Well, here's what Kyle
Shanahan did. He downplayed McCaffrey's injury the entire preseason and
then entire preseason McCaffrey was getting chosen first overall by
fantasy owners. Okay, then he plays at Koy up to
(15:04):
the kickoff, basically saying that McCaffrey's not going to play tonight. Well,
it turns out that McCaffrey's not playing for the first
eight to nine weeks of the season. That would have
been very nice information to have before people put their
entire money and investment into their fantasy team. Now, Kyle
Shanahan would tell you something that Mike Tomlin told us
last year. I don't care about your fantasy team, and
(15:27):
the NFL needs to step in and correct him on that. No,
you should care about people who are interested in your
league for fantasy reasons. You should care for people that
gamble on your league. Did everybody watch that dog shit
game last night? The only people that were interested in
watching that game were to see if that fucking guy
(15:47):
made the field goal at the end of the game
to either make your bet or lose your bet. They
weren't tuning in to watch these dog crap teams play
a dog crap game. I saw people that were former
blue check marks, people that are paid to cover sports.
We're doing snoozing emojis. This is an awful game to watch.
(16:07):
Al michaels I have many comments from him from last
night's game complaining about how bad, how poorly it's been played,
and how many flags are thrown. So when you say
I don't care about your fantasy team, you should care
because it's the only reason people are paying attention to
your fucking league. That the actual product has been declining
(16:30):
so robustly that the stats are now basically confirming the
eye tests the last couple of years, and nobody cares
to fix the product because more people are watching than ever,
so there's no motivation to stop. But don't tell me
that you don't care about my fantasy team, and don't
(16:50):
hide injuries to the top fantasy player in the league
from us and expect us to not get mad about it.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
You're fired about that.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
It's disgusting it Honestly, I don't know if I go
to the point of being disgusting, but it's it is
bad business, and it's really interesting about how like this
is the reason your sport is so well well viewed,
and yet you're doing damage to people who are part
of the real people who pay the bills, if you
will are anymore.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Now that's it Shanahan, Mookie Bats and the WNBA.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I still think WNB is the most annoying. I just
do just I mean, even now, they just still haven't
had a change. I haven't had the come to Jesus
of the you know, whether you like it or not.
What's there not to like about people actually paying attention
to something that's been around for a quarter century and
(17:47):
nobody's given a shit about.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Like, my head's gonna explode from the stupidity.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Ryl Swoops Angel Rees.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Why are we doing this because we can? Hey, Doug,
this is really fun. I was able to find a
couple pieces of sound here that fit the segment, and
it gives me a chance to go off Undershaun Watson,
So Earlier in the week, Deshaun Watson said this. I
think he was asked about would he welcome more running
(18:23):
plays in the offensive scheme?
Speaker 11 (18:26):
But I don't have to run. I'm not gonna run,
So I'm not trying to take any of his because
I'm not a running quarterback in a sense. I can
make things happen, but I'm not trying to run. I'm
not running back. That's not my specialties. You know, they
signed me to throw the ball and make decisions and
be a quarterback runner.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
So imagine giving this guy I was a two hundred
and thirty guaranteed million dollars and then watching him say that.
Imagine being a fan of the Browns and watching your
quarterbacks say that, stopping short of doing whatever the fuck
they asked him to do to win game. It reminds
me of one of my favorite scenes from one of
my favorite movies, Jake Taylor just experienced Roger Dorn not
(19:09):
going after a ball in the hole in the ninth
in Jake Taylor took it upon himself to go into
Roger Dorn's house in the movie Major League.
Speaker 12 (19:19):
You know what I was concerned about was why you
didn't come up with that grounder. That Rocker hit the ninth, so.
Speaker 7 (19:25):
He was out of my reach last week?
Speaker 8 (19:27):
Do you want me to do die for it?
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Waityart for that seven point.
Speaker 12 (19:32):
Roger could have meant the game.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Oh come on, cut the raw rush shit Taylor.
Speaker 9 (19:37):
Year after this igo free agent, plus my agent and
I got a couple of plans for life after baseball,
so I'm not about to risk major injury or to
face this property for collectionist STIPs.
Speaker 12 (19:46):
You know, Darrin, I liked you so much better when
you were just the ballplayer. You were really great ones.
Now you listen to me. This is my last shot
at a winner, and for the younger guys it could
be their only shot. I don't know what happened to you,
but if you ever ever ever tank another play like
you did today, I'm gonna cut your nuts off and
(20:08):
stuff them down your fucking throat.
Speaker 8 (20:12):
Coffee.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Anybody, by the way, his wife smoke.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
Show yeah she is. Yeah. I think Miles Garrett needs
to go up to Deshaun Watson or one of the
Cleveland leaders and say, if you ever say you're not
gonna do whatever it takes to win, I'm gonna rip
your fucking balls off. And stuck stuff them down your
fucking throat.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
I think it's a good one. Wow wow wow wow wow.
I can play for you because we can. That's it
for the end the Modus Podcast.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Check out the radio show every day three to six
three to five Eastern, twelve two Pacific.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
I'm Doug Gottlieb. This Spot Sports Radio
