Speaker 2 (00:52):

Speaker 1 (00:56):
But we do this every Wednesday, So Wednesday is middle
of the day, middle week.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
This is generally middle of most people's day, especially on
the West coast, right one o'clock, and it's always been
middle of our shell because we have the third hour,
which is the podcast only are which you can download
wherever you a download podcast. Just tipe in Doug Gottlieb.
We call it the Midway.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
It is time. He's not getting the middle here.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
It's time for the.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Midway Midway topic. Jase, do what you got, Doug.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
I kind of need to do some house queen in
coun We do some house queen first. Sure do you
have any house queen in music? Sam? All right, So
I want to shout out to Steve Wosden. Steve Wosden
is a listener to the show. I appreciate every single
listener we have, and Steve, I'm not blaming you for this,
but he types in Twitter yesterday at Dan Byer on Fox. Dan,
(02:00):
you mentioned on air that you thought you two put
out pop to see what people would actually buy. In
chapter twenty five of Bono's book forty, he talks about
that album. So I just want to correct things and
do some house queening because I know people can't listen
every day and they drop in and dougle refer to
this theory of mine without any reference. So I came
(02:22):
up with a theory. It wasn't Dan, and it was
it was Youtwo's album Zuropa My theory is this that
the NFL is in zuropa mode. You two came off
of Joshua Tree and Octug Baby, two albums that didn't
sound anything alike, and they made tons of money and
were exceptionally popular and the best rock band in the
(02:42):
country and the world, and then they decided to put
zu Ropa out, which is categorically critically considered their worst album.
It was like they just punted on an album to
see what their what their audience would buy. They were
almost like it was like a litmus test and how
bad they could be and their people would still show
(03:03):
up to buy it. And I think that is what
the NFL is in their product is as worse is
the worse that it's been since I've been alive, and
people are still showing up in droves. We saw one
hundred and twenty nine million people I guess tuned into
the Super Bowl. So I always think this is funny
because the NFL is not motivated to improve their product
(03:24):
because they're cash and checks and one hundred and twenty
nine people are watching their products, So what's the incentive
on making a better product? So we're going to continue
to be in Zuropa next season as well.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
I listen again, I'm going to continue to credit you.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I know, Dan lescolet why I've mentioned that the thing
is bad, that the product is bad, like you have, Dan,
but the whole zerre up with thing. I the first
person i've heard it term that way is you. I'm
giving you pull credit. I'm going to give you pull credit.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I have a follow up on that though, I actually
have because Jason has been on this campaign, this Zeropa campaign,
you know, since the start of the falls, the start
of the NFL season. What specifically, Jason and Doug, when
you guys watch these games, you're like, is it too
much offense? Is it too much defense? I know you say,
like they're not getting enough practice time because of you know,
(04:17):
because of union, you know, rights and stuff. What is
it specifically that you're like, Man, this is not this
is the worst product I've seen out of the NFL
in recent memory. I'm glad you asked, Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
I'm glad to tell you this explain there is no
metric that sums up my feeling about this. In other words,
you can't tell me that there were more points scored
or less points scored or more field goals scored. It's
an eye test. It is we all sit on our
couch and we watch an entire NFL game and we
leave feeling unfulfilled. So what I'm not saying it's a
(04:50):
specific thing that's wrong. It's sloppy, it is unentertaining, it's
it's a mess for the most part. So I'm gonna
say that maybe the most innocent of explanations is because
they they went into arbitration or collectively bargained less practice.
That's the least I guess that's the most innocent excuse.
(05:13):
The more nefarious reason that you see online on Reddit
pages is that all of this started to happen when
legalized gambling started, and that this compromised product is the
product of referees, assistant coaches, and players being in on
some kind of a bet.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Hmmm. Interesting. I don't know if I was left fulfilled
by that answer, but I think it's a good answer. Yeah,
can we get to the midway topic? I like that.
I like that little little appetizer there, though, I was.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Apartif I want to know what what storyline? So since
the Super bowls over the NFL, we could put it
to bed. I want to know what storyline you are
most looking forward to following now. So it could be
an NFL story, I guess a postseason NFL story, but
I'm talking more along the lines of other sports, other
(06:10):
narratives that you're like, I'm real excited to start following
that since I don't have NFL to watch.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I mean, hopefully my team starts to winning basketball games
and we get healthy. That'd be cool.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
That'd be a great storyline. See national stories that I
want to follow. I mean, I think the Luca thing
is awesome, Like what now? And for me, I I'm
like Jay Stu right, like I search for the opposite
of BS.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I try and state the opposite of BS.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Kind of rooting for the Mavericks, right, kind of rooting
for the Mavericks. Just you know, you get so many
fans who think they know and I genuinely agree, Like
I'm I'm with Mark Stein, like I think Luca is
the best player in the NBA when he's healthy and
when he's in shape, I know he has his warts.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
That said, kind of rooting for the Mavericks. You know,
when everybody's like, oh, what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Then Anthony Davis is really awesome. I mean, that's the
the whole secret to the Lakers' ability to be successful
last year. Lebron's still amazing, but he didn't play any
defense anymore, and there are just games in which he
doesn't have it. And everybody's gonna have games in your
in your forties, you don't have it, Anthony Davis, He's
been really good. So I'm the obviously the Luca Lakers
(07:38):
ad mavericks that thing.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
I'm super impot.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
We both expect or we all expect both teams to
be playoff teams. Correct, What's what is a realistic expectation?
I guess maybe this is a little bit of contradictory statement,
but if you're a Laker fan, what's a realistic expectation
for the playoffs? To Where's is there a realistic Laker
fan exactly? That's why I was like, it's kind of
a oxymoron there, But like what Western Conference Finals?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I don't think they're better. I just don't. I don't
think they're better. I think they're fun.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
They really score, yeah, but they can't guard anybody like
Lebron and playing defense, and the three best offense players
that have are like not defensive players and in the
NBA playoffs, that's what it becomes about.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
What about the MAVs.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
They're better right now with Anthony?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
I mean they're really defensively. Yeah, they don't have a
point guard, so that that's their flaw, which which because
Kyrie is the score, he is not a point guard.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Is he he still out right? Or is he? Is
he back?
Speaker 1 (08:44):
I mean, I personally want to see Oklahoma City. I'd
like to see them get to the finals. I don't
know if they're ready, it's their time, but just just
that that element of it is really fun.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Will either Okay See or the Calves make it to
the finals? I don't great question to the two teams
are the best records right now?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's a great question.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Obviously doesn't work that way. I was hyping up the
Calves from the get go, guys, really, I remember I
said if it was Lakers Calves and then uh, Bronnie
could uh play in the game against the Calves. I
don't know. I have a Cleveland thing because he did
grow up partially in Cleveland. Sure, but I don't know.
Bronni Is makes an appearance every once in a while.
(09:29):
He wouldn't factor into there he wouldn't factor in their
playoff plans.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
But yes, what other storylines? I mean the Dodgers. I
mean the Dodgers look better than ever. I'm sure that's
what Jay Steuw's fired about. Like I think Kershaw is
their fifth best starter? Yeah, Ja stu Where does the
Dodgers in terms of this national storylines you're interested in?
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Where's that rank? Now they've won a World Series? Finally?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
No, No, I think I think the Dodgers are definitely
a story I'm looking forward to tracking. But the one
thing that I think is first and foremost, and it's
probably like one through five, is what happens to women's
college basketball? Because you know, we've seen women's college basketball
on the NCAA level get zero buzz so far, Juju,
(10:16):
what's her face? Watkins was supposed to be better than
Kaitlyn Clark talent wise, she was supposed to take the
torch from Kitlin Clark, and I see almost no buzz
about her page.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Who's I guess struggled in big games?
Speaker 4 (10:30):
You know, smidgem And so what's going to happen with
the w NBA season?
Speaker 5 (10:35):
Because we keep we keep hearing that Kaitlyn Clark, like
I guess, raised the interest level in women's basketball. She
was given that, right, I would say that's wrong. I
would say that she's raised the level and interest in herself.
People tune in for her, people sell out arenas for her.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I don't know if.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
She's necessarily raised the boats for every buddy. So I'm
interested to see how that plays out over the next
six months.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Did anyone catch that uh that Unrivaled?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I just got some highlights, but like this one on
one part of the unrival tournament. Yeah, I watched some.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Of the highlights.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
There were some some good highlights I enjoyed.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Yeah, but like they had fans there, but not all
the seats were filled. So and it wasn't even like
it was probably.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
In the whole season of Unrival a couple hundred people
at most.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah, are you really gonna watch women's three basketball?
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I was one on one during during real basketball season.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah it was. It was interesting. I just I was
caught some of the highlights.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
But the money grab.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
To Jason's point, though, I think that the interest in
Kaitlyn Clark will continue. I think that ratings will continue
to be higher than they were, you know, two years
ago before she entered the league, just because she's playing
against these teams and people will tune in. But yeah, like, listen,
the number one team in women's college basketball is UCLA
and not even probably not many people on the street
(11:59):
know that because they're led by a very, very steady
center named Lauren Betts, and they're just wiping the floor
with everyone and they're undefeated and there's a very good
chance they could go undefeated and win the national championship.
And I don't know if it'll create any kind of buzz.
They're really really good. Yeah, And then I'm.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Sure you're right. I think Carrie closes the head coach's name.
She's she's great.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
But there's a problem though. You go to these games
at poly Pavilion and there's no there's not a lot
of fans showing up for the number one team. And
that was the thing that Iowa fans kind of got
people excited across the country because they would pack Carver Hawk.
I are you know to watch these games? Watch your
break records.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
The Midwest Strauss for women's volleyball, midwestras.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Absolutely Nebraska wrestling, mid.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
West Straws for women's basketball. Midwest is is different. It
doesn't work and doesn't work on the coach.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
I just think, though, when you have the number one
team and you don't know how long that's gonna last.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Number on volleyball team, the number one volleyball team.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
I couldn't tell you. Monci's the volleyball expert here.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
I'm just saying women's volleyball at Penn State and at
Nebraska is a huge thing, right, number one volleyball team
the country was at UCLA men's whatever it's and the
men's team at US is unbelievable to watch.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Those guys are a freak athletes. Nobody cares well.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Though basketball is still considered in even women's basketball revenue
revenue sport and volleyball not in L when in LA,
but in some programs it is.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
But you're wondering why UCLA does not garner more people
coming to their games, It's because we're in LA and
there's so many other things to go to that it's
the last on people's priority to see.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
That with their numerous I understand, and you know what
they're they're happy to have that.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Conversation with you at the bar women on talking about
US women's basketball.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
I got I got.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Okay, I got on.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
I'm actually there's so many things about the NBA that
are very exciting now that football is over, and I
love the NBA, so I'm looking forward to Jimmy Butler
and the Warriors. Steph Curry had a little bit of
a slump, but in the last four or five games
he's kind of like filling himself again. And if you
watch I just watched them play the Bucks. I believe
(14:05):
maybe I'm wrong, but like when.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Steph is on the bench, they now have a scorer.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
And like the problem was every time Steph went to
the bench, the Warriors couldn't keep up. Now Jimmy Butler
stays in the game, who is not a three point.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Shooter, they don't need that.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
I'm really curious to see how the Warriors end the
season with Jimmy Butler because I'm a big Jimmy fan.
But I think maybe like they can make a little
bit of a run. Not that they're gonna win, I'm
not saying that, or even make it to the finals,
but I think they can make a little bit of
a run, which maybe a month ago, I wouldn't be
saying that.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
I wouldn't have been saying that, by the way, guys,
by the way, to bring it back to women's college basketball,
USC and UCLA playing tomorrow, no big game, Jason the
Galen Center, number six, hosting number one, because Michael I
will be.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
That'll actually USC's women actually draw it decently well, you know,
but nobody can in reality.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
I just wanted to mention that they will.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Finally, you had to mention that, and then everybody's like.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Oh, okay, I'll be tuning in for that for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Hey, thanks appreciate it. Okay, So where was should door
Sanders playing? Mm hmm right, yeah, like, what's the actual
eval of schudor Sanders. That's fascinating?
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yeah it is. You don't think so, No, I said
it is. It is interesting.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
I thought I thought, was it is?
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, No, I was saying it is it is exclamation point,
not it is question mark.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Just I I just didn't know where the emphasis on the.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Yeah, no, it is, it is interesting. You always you know,
guy like Jayden Daniels has immediate success and well you
just don't know that should do until we see him play.
But my I was thinking just since this morning about
this topic. I was thinking just specifically NFL storylines and
I follow the NFC North very closely. You know, I'm
a Packer fan, and I think that division is incredibly
(15:57):
interesting and fascinating. You know, It's like take a crystal ball,
you know, one of those little or those magic eight balls.
Just shake it and see what answer you get every
time for each team. Like I think maybe outside of
the Bears, each of those teams could win the division.
And Doug, were you making a point about this either
earlier this week or last week that like a lot
of those teams feasted on a bad division in those
crossover games. So it's like, are they gonna all take
(16:19):
a step back? I mean, I think the lines will
probably take a step back. Who's going to make it
to the playoffs? The NFC North to me is that
eight ball. You shake it up, you get a different
team each time.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
See where Sam Darnold goes and what happens to Detroit
with the new coordinators, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (16:33):

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Stug Gott Leep Show, Fox Sports Radio, Dak Prescott was
asked how close they are to winning a championship, and
here was his respect.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat
them for the most part from when we played them.
I don't want to say, check the record one. The
other guy's holding the trophy right now. See credit to them,
and they've earned and they deserved it by all means.
But very close, especially even watched the NFC game with
the NFC championship and those two teams, teams that we
battle against each and every year a couple of times,
and as I said, feel confident about we've gotten a
(17:21):
better part each and every time to see them, to
see in a such a dominating fashion. Credit to them,
it's our turn and and on us.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Oh, it's our turn, and that's on us. Difference isn't
that great?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Let's find out From Daniel Jeremi. He joins us move
the sticks to this podcast. When they have the NFL
Draft here in Green Bay, Wisconsin, you'll see him up
front and center as he's their lead analyst for the
NFL Draft. Of course, he also calls Chargers games for
a living. We'll get back to the Cowboys in a Second,
what was your reaction to the complete domination at the
(17:57):
line of scrimmage by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
Well, in some ways, that kind of renewed my faith in,
you know, roster building, team building in that, you know, gosh,
having a Hall of Fame head coach and a Hall
of Fame quarterback, you know, at some point in time
you have to have a little bit more than that,
you know. And and offensively, if you look at the
Chief's offensive line wise, particularly, it's like they, man, there
(18:23):
was a lot of holes in that in that boat,
whereas in Philly's case, their roster was so far superior,
one of the best rosters I've seen since I came
into the league in two thousand and three, just in
terms of the completeness of the roster, the depth talent,
and then upfront just waves and waves of dudes and
the stuff that you know. I always say in the playoffs,
(18:45):
whatever your kind of warts are, they always get exposed.
I felt like the Chiefs did a great job of
kind of covering that up, and then in this game
they just couldn't and every issue that they had was
completely exploited by that front.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, I agree on roster that that game was one
when the forty six men game day roster was was
was was put out.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
You know there's something that say, Hey, Doug.
Speaker 8 (19:10):
Doug, Doug, hold hold on, Doug. I talked to I
talked to a buddy in the organization, and he said
they did not call a defense and that super bowl
that wasn't installed on day one of training camps. That's
how simple it was. You talk about just like, hey,
go get them, like, we don't have to do anything
special here, guys. This is like day one install calls
here and we're just that much better than they are.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah. Is there anything Kansasity could have done?
Speaker 4 (19:35):
No?
Speaker 8 (19:36):
I mean, I my whole thing with them coming to
that game. I thought their best shot, their best you know,
game plan, would be to go tempo, because you know
they've done that. They did that against the Niners, you know,
where they kind of wore them out and tired them out,
but they couldn't get a first down to even go tempo.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
So, by the way, people missed that about about going tempo,
like and this goes to college football too, in order
to go tempo, you got to get that first first down.
If you don't, then you're just on defense all time.
Speaker 8 (20:03):
Yeah, and that's and that's that's what it was. And
then you know, I thought they would I thought they
would ship you know, on the way out the door
on those edge rushers, and they did.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
They just did it very poorly.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
They did it in the second half with you know,
on one of which they chipped him into a sack,
but in the first half there was next to none
of it. They left poor Joe Tuney out there one
on one and he just got hung out to pry So.
And that was the thing too, is Joe Tuney, who was,
as you know, an all pro level guard kicking out
the tackle and on kind of messy fields and bad
(20:36):
weather against tired teams. He did great, but he got
in the Super Bowl on a fast track with a
team with two weeks of rest, with a wave of
guys to come at him, and you know, his kind
of lack of length and and the fact that he's
you know, truly a guard that got exposed. And when
he moved out there, then you weaken yourself at two
spots because the guard Caliendo got his butt kicked. So
(21:00):
you know, it was just anything. You know, they they
have been so good and that's a tribute to Kansas
City is that they've been so so well coached and
so well run that they've been able to cover up
their warts, and in this particular instance, they just weren't
able to do that.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
It ain't the x's and the o's, the Jimmy's and
the Jimmy's and the Joe's, Jimmy's and the Jews.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
I know that very well.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I know that very very well, very well. Stet gott
leapshell here on Box Sports Radio. Uh okay, let's try
and how hard a fix will it be for Kansas City.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
I think it's tricky.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
You know.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
Look, they're they're going to get Rishi Rice back. That's
going to help in a big way. You know, he
has kind of started to come on and develop, so,
you know, weapons standpoint on the outside, fine, obviously Pat's great.
They're gonna they're gonna have to figure out. I don't
see how they're really going to pay Tray Smith. I
would imagine he's probably gonna be gone. The biggest thing
is they've got to find a left tackle. They took
a swing in the second round on Suematia from Byu
(22:02):
and he is a long ways away. So it's hard
when you're picking you know, thirty one or thirty two
every single year. It's just the tackles are premium position.
There's normally not many of them, and they all go
really really high. And then in free agency most times
you just you're never going to get a premier tackle
to free agency, and if you do, the price is
going to be sky sky high. So that to me,
(22:25):
filling that left tackle spot is going to be uh,
that's going to be their biggest challenge.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Well, there is another challenge. What do they do with
with Kelsey?
Speaker 8 (22:35):
Obviously his call. You know, he's not he's going to
go a first out, hall of fame, all the accolades,
all the records, you know, never going to minimize anything
that he's done. He's tremendous, but he's just not the
same guy. And you know that suddenness when that kind
of leaves, and that's what he's what makes him so great.
And you know he struggles a little bit getting off
(22:57):
of off the line of scrimmage. He just he's just
he's a little long in the tooth man. So it's
his call if he wants to keep playing. I'm sure
they're gonna you know, keep paying him and what he
needs to make and keep him around there. But I
think his days of being just a mismatch player, which
he's been his entire career, I think that's that's more
than likely behind him.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
All Right, what about the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
You know, last time they won the Super Bowl, howie uh,
he took some shots and drafted, drafted pretty young, right,
and those guys, Jalen Carter kind of came as coming
to his own.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
What's that? What's their path too to try and win
back to back? What do what do they have to?
What they have to shore up?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Because you know what it is when you win this thing,
everybody wants to get paid and something's gotta something's got
to go.
Speaker 8 (23:46):
Yeah, I mean they're I mean the good thing is
that defensive front has so many cheap young players on
rookie contracts that you know, you don't have to worry
about that. They'll probably I would imagine Bryce Huff's probably
gonna want to get traded. You know, that one didn't
really work out. He made seventeen million bucks and he
was an active on Super Bowl Sunday, So you know
that one. You've got some other free agents, but when
(24:09):
you've got sakuon Barkley and that defensive front and a
lot and you've got two rookie corners that are elite,
elite players. I mean, he's done it right. I had
our researcher at NFL Network pull up a bunch of
stuff on their drafts, and I think it was like
since twenty one, like the nine defensive players that they
had taken in the first however many three four rounds,
(24:30):
all of them played in the Super Bowl. And he's
batting average has been crazy high. So they'll have some departures.
We'll see what happens there. But they have so much depth, Doug,
They're not going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Stut Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio, Dana Jeremiah
is is our guest. What about the Cowboys, Dack says, say, Hey,
you're look at how you play against Eagles. We're pretty close,
are they.
Speaker 8 (24:58):
I'm just looking at it right now. And if we
were going to say you could you could pick a
position group, I would take the If you're going to
compare him to a team, by the way, in their
division that just won the Super Bowl, the Eagles are
much better at receiver. They're better at offensive line. They're
better at running back, they're better at tight end. You know, quarterback,
you can you can have that debate. I think it's
(25:20):
you know, you could give the slight edge to Dak
if you wanted to give the slight edge to Hurts.
It's a conversation. So that's one position that you could
say the Cowboys are at least in the same ballpark
defensive line wise, Eagles linebacker wise, Eagles secondary close. They
have some good young players there in Dallas, but I
would still go Eagles. I mean, the Eagles are better
across the board.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Not.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Jimmy's not excell and O's Jimmy. Jimmy's Jimmy's in the
Jimmy's in the Jimmy's and the Joe's. What surprised you
most in the hiring cycle?
Speaker 8 (25:55):
Good question. Look, Pete Carroll coming back, you know I
thought he was teaching Cloud to the USC and and uh,
you know I was a little bit older, and and
that was you know that that that was you know,
IM not going to be a possibility for him. But
I love it. I think it's I actually think it's
a really good higher for the Raiders, And I think
he'll be a great, you know, bridge to whoever their
(26:16):
next coach is going to be. But just kind of
get the culture in place there and uh, you know,
try and bring some of that Pete Carroll enthusiasm will
be good. So that one I did not see coming.
And I know Schottenheimer is the one everybody will point to.
But the Cowboys promoting from within is something that that's
not that wasn't a huge shock to me.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Yeah, okay, you're gonna be in Green Bay for the draft.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Uh it's a quarterbacking to go one.
Speaker 8 (26:40):
Overall, it's so early right now. I mean I I
just take him at their word when they talked about,
you know, not passing on one of these elite generational
type players, and that that is why I leaned towards
them not taking one. But then I I understand the
the uh you know, the optics with a new stadium
on the way in trying to sell hope and quarterbacks
(27:03):
are the are the bearers of hope. So that you know,
I would not be shocked either way, is what I'm
getting at this point in time. And I think it's
a coin flip and.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Is who is the quarterback? Again? I know it's early,
but as of February twelve, who goes no, what's the
who's the first quarterback taking?
Speaker 8 (27:22):
I'm gonna guess it's cam Ward just because normal when
you the first guy off the board, tends to have
some loud tools, and I think his tools are just
a little bit louder. Should or played, you know in
terms of like, you know, delivering the ball, accurately, reading
things out, you know, good decisions, protect the football. He
was it was better on tape than cam Ward there,
but cam can do things physically that should do or
(27:45):
can't do. So that's usually how that ends up.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Going Who's who else is an Eagles like roster out there?
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Who who else is drafted?
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Well, they're stacked, They've got dudes, and they just haven't
put it all together yet.
Speaker 8 (27:58):
Well, I mean Detroit, I would say, you know, if
you're just looking at stacking up the best rosters in
the NFL, you know they got just crushed with injuries,
but you know, line of scrimmage, you know weapons, the
you know speed, big time speed that they you know.
I would say that would be the Lions would be
number two on that list for me.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Okay, and then who of those these playoff teams take
the Chiefs and the Eagles out, But who is the
team likely to see the most fall off because either
age contracts or you know, they they've gone all in
and everyone knows this is the last year they got.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
They got to hit refresh.
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yeah, that's a that's a that's gonna be a interesting one.
I'm curious to see, you know, the Stafford stuff. There's
a lot of scuttle butt out there, you know here
talking around the league that you know that he could
potentially be moved and they have a really good young
defense and some really good pieces, but you know, a
pivoted quarterback could could signify that. I'm fascinated to see,
(28:56):
you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers, you know what direction they're
going to? Are they going to try and revamp things?
You know what does that look like? Because you just
look around the AFC and there's so many talented quarterbacks
and so many good teams. If I was going to
say a team was going to fall off and a
playoff team could slip a little bit, I think there's
more contenders to snatch up those spots on the a
(29:17):
FC side than the NFC side.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Is is Cooper Cooper Cup as he watched.
Speaker 8 (29:24):
I don't think so. I think, you know, the price
tag I wouldn't love. But in terms of having value
and you know, being a reliable, dependable dude, and who's gonna,
you know, eat up zone coverage because if his instincts
are so good and he can block his butt off
in the run game, so he actually provides some value
there that not many receivers, do you know. I don't
(29:46):
know that it's it's a value that matches the number
that he's on right now. But I definitely think he
has value left as a player.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
All right.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Most important question is how excited are you about baseball season?
Considering the Dodgers, And I'm not a Dodger, but they've
they've gotten better, they spend even more money.
Speaker 8 (30:04):
Yeah, no, I I I'm uh, I'm super excited for
baseball season because A it's just I love going to
the Ballyard. I love having it on in the background
while I'm you know, working on football stuff.
Speaker 9 (30:15):
It's it's it's it's really all.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
I love it.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
It's it's fantastic. Now it doesn't feel a little bit
like this thing is already done. Sure, but man, how
sweet it would be, Doug. I mean, my two favorite
teams are always going to be the Padres and whoever's
playing the Dodgers, and uh, you know, we get to
the postseason and the Braves or the Mets or one
of these teams knock them off. Oh, it would be glorious.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Be really, it'd be really interesting. Uh don't know if
that happens, but it'd be interesting. DJ, we got to
talk off here. I can't wait to get you up
here in Green Bay when the snow melts.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Thanks so much for joining us.
Speaker 8 (30:46):

The Press.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
Hello, hello, coach, Hello, just chill in, hold on, hold on.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I hate that drop. Just so it doesn't sound like
he just magically appears. It does sound I do it
to mess with you.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
Now, I know you do, but no, since the first
time you messed with me. I know it's a drop,
but I hate it. But it's still for one split
second You're like, no, my goo's stock that Where's Dan?
Why is he with us right now? He's just the
day off.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
That's nice.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
I was just talking to smack to you.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
But it doesn't matter, all right.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Coach Travis Kelce on his podcast with his brother, addressed
what we're all wondering and thinking.
Speaker 10 (32:05):
I know everybody wants to know whether or not I'm
playing next year, and right now I'm just kicking everything
down the road. I'm kicking every can I can down
the road, and I'm not making any crazy decisions but
I right now, the biggest thing is just being there
for my teammates. And you know, I've been fortunate over
the past five six years. I've played more football than
(32:26):
anybody and it's because the people that are in that
building and the fact that we keep going to these
AFC Championships and these Super Bowls, and that means I'm
playing an extra three games more than everybody else in
the in the entire league. And that's a lot of
wear and tear on your body. And it's a lot
of time spent in the building, focusing on your crafts,
(32:46):
focusing on the task at hand, every challenge that you
set up for yourself.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
It's just a snippet.
Speaker 6 (32:52):
He and his brother Jason continue to talk about it.
It seems like he's really struggling, like he wants to retire,
but he doesn't want to admit it.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Uh, that's probably fair, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Which I understand. I get it.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
So it's a hard, you know, life to let go
because once you're done, you're done.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Like they just lost.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
They just lost, right, which is you know, adds to.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
It, right, Yeah, it takes a minute.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
It takes a minute.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
It takes it. But yeah, I just got the vibe.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
I was like, it seems like he does want to retire,
and also it seems like if they.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Did win, Doug he probably would have retired. Like that's
just the vibe that I that I got.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
All Right, So at this Super Bowl, we all saw
we witness that the fans didn't really like Taylor Swift
at this game.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
She got booed. The reason she got booed, I guess
you could argue.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
But Saquon Barkley was on Howard Stern's Serious XM radio
show and this is what he had to say about
Taylor Swift and the booze.
Speaker 9 (33:55):
I remember they showed her on the Jumbleton and she
got boot I don't get it. I don't get why
she she was getting hate there.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
I didn't like that. Yeah, I didn't like.
Speaker 9 (34:06):
The poorting my significant out there. And she's made the
game bigger. You know, we're all about and football. We're
all about, you know, how can we expand the game
and make it more internationally. And we're traveling to Brazil
and we're traveling the next to go, and so we're
trying to expand the game and you know, her being
the part of it is only helping that. So I
don't I don't get to decide that she would get in.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
So in other words, the NFL looks at the w
NBA that doesn't like to grow their game at the
success of one of their stars and says, you're idiots.
Were actually smart, which is why the NFL is smart.
I think she was bood just because they're Eagle fans. Hey,
saque just see you understand your fans now you're an Eagle,
are the worst of the worst, right, and they they
(34:50):
embraced that.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
They embrace that.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
It's like, it's like, did you guys see Danny Hurley
walking off the court last night Silma Craton, Yes, where
it's like, hey, baldy and you know he bald.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
He's like I got rings, two rings, right, Like Danny
embraces the hated oozes loves it.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
So fans, So Saquon just gotta understand, like those are
the people, those are the people that get your back.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
You know, I'm an idiot. I don't know much.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
I'm glad you brought up Dan Hurley in that moment
because I do not dislike Dan Hurley at all.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
He cracks me up.
Speaker 6 (35:25):
But then you bring up like Nick Sirianni, who has
a similar fight back against you no fans at times,
and he rubs me the wrong way all the time.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
And I don't know.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Why, because I feel like they're both doing the same thing, right, Yeah,
they're leaning into it, right.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Yeah, Yeah, they're both yeah, Sirianni's for some reason, it
feels what is it feels artificial?
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Is that what it is? That's what it feels like.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
That's what it feels like, because man, yeah, but I don't.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Where's Danny, Like, that's Danny Dan some Jersey.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
He makes those fands. Coach Hurley makes those faces though
that You're like, but see, don't I don't get that feeling, like,
I don't feel that way about this.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Here's the deal. As long as you winning, nobody cares.
Speaker 6 (36:08):
As long as you're winning.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Big win, aton, Yeah, big win, huge win. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (36:11):
And I also, I'm also with you that I really,
even though Jason and I were talking about this during
the break, I really do feel like Taylor Swift was
booed primarily just because you are rooting for the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
Like there's maybe other levels to it, but I think
that is the majority of Trumpers in there, of course,
but I feel like that was like the third reason,
you know what I mean, Like that's what I feel.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
But I feel like, Jason, here's a deal. She can
be booed. She she'll live, She'll cry herself to sleep
in her bed of billions.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
And she'll wipe her tears away with hondos.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
She won't even care.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Like, honestly, we sit there and go like, I can't
believe she was booed.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
How is she ever going to like to relax? She's
more upset. I'm sure about the game's outcome. She doesn't
give a crap.
Speaker 6 (36:57):
She doesn't give a crap. You're right about that?
Speaker 2 (36:59):
All right?
Speaker 6 (37:00):
We're real, real close to baseball season and I'm just
gonna throw something at you and tell me if I'm
crazy you think there's a chance of Shoho Tawani does
not pitch, Sean Doug, I just.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Ya, I was the baseball season yet? Ready?
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Oh I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I'm sorry baseball and you guys love baseball. I love
baseball in theory, but like I can't cover the day.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
This is a good one. Does does he not pitch?
Why would he not pitch? Because he's not doing a
rehab assignment.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
That and also I'm just wondering, like, I mean, two surgeries, right,
what what if they just keep kind of like dangling
the fruit, like, oh, he's getting better, he's he's getting closer.
And then halfway through the season and he hasn't pitched,
but he's still awesome. At his d H position, and
so we we don't really care. But I wonder if
if we don't know the whole.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Truth, I don't know, you tell me something I don't know.
Speaker 6 (37:45):
I'm just I'm just wondering.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
No, I'm asking you. There's something I don't know. I
don't have information, wing.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
No, No, I just I've got a feeling. It's more
of a feeling. Dangling fruit, you know, sounds like more
than a feeling.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Sounds like she's heard from.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
The former interpreters cellmate that show.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Hey, he show, Hey really has a bad elbow? Snug
out leap show here on Fox Sports Radio. Have yourself
a great day,
