Speaker 3 (00:44):
And also Happy birthday to the real Goat Michael Jordan
today are real good.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Bonzi's friend Natalie the other goat.

That's right, Happy birthday, Nana.

Tyrek dot com the wait tire buying should be. I
do have to say a couple of things. Number one,
Number one, jojo potatoes are a thing, so there are mojos,
and then there are JoJo's that is a thing. And
number two, you and I were together on Friday here
on Fox Sports Radio when we had the conversation of
(01:24):
if you could only have one network to keep, yes,
what would it be? And it ended up being focusing
on Iowa Sam's grabbing the Big ten network. I stand
by my decision. You obviously do, because on the four TVs,
I've got the Jennifer Hudson Show, TNT, I got TGL,
(01:44):
which I don't mind, but it's not on a TV
that I can readily look at. Yeah, and Big ten
Network be playing the Wisconsin Ohio state hockey match in
sixty minutes from.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
This past weekend. I'll get these switched up at the break,
don't thank you very much. We'll refresh them a little bit,
but bten will be He's staying on there.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Great. You know what else is staying some love and
hate from the weekend.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
All right, what did you love?
Speaker 6 (02:06):
God? I love you?
Speaker 5 (02:07):
And what did you hate?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
These?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Player?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Hay is.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
This is where we look back at the weekend, an
idea built by one Jason Stewart. So, Jason, we start
with you on what was a Valentine's Day weekend? What
did you love from these past couple of days?
Speaker 7 (02:28):
You know what I did love? I like snarky, witty
replies on Twitter. I spent a lot of time on Twitter,
so I did give Sam the nod this weekend. Iowa, Sam,
he could be pretty corny, but he could be witty.
I said, this reminds me of you. Okay, So Kevin
love NBA player. I think he's still playing. He's probably
(02:49):
collecting a ton of money and not really playing much.
I'm guessing I wrot, maybe not. This is what he
sent over the weekend. A great way to fix all
the All star weekends. Saturday Night, overwhelming majority of the
NBA know that Mac McClung has won three straight dunk
contests during Black History Month. That's that's pretty entertaining, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I didn't get it. I don't know what I missed.
Speaker 7 (03:13):
Yeah, white guy, white guy wins three dunk contests during
Black History Month.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
That's his joke. Okay, from a white guy, Okay, who
is on a.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Team by the way, but you're right, probably not playing
a lot.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
He's still a heat.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
Is a heat, probably making twenty five million. Did not
play this guy at Tom Fooury twenty two with the
tweet of the weekend for me all, he replies back
with is Mac history month. I love that. I love it.
Brought a smile to my face. You guys know how
hard is to make me smile. Yes, you brought a
(03:46):
smile to my face.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I'm on the heels of that. I appreciate Jason, you
and Monsey for liking my tweet on Saturday night.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
It was it was it funny.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I thought you liked it when I did. Mac McClung
should jump over the car as it's being broken into.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yes, that was funny because it's in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Isaac, Isaac gave me a sly grand I saw it. Yes,
but you chose not to like it. Someone sent it
to me. You still sent it to you. That's all
I'll say that.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Don't say that his girlfriend did nice way to save man.
You owe him a drink.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Someone was offended by that. No, they just they thought
it was funny. Oh so they sent it. Okay, good
by the way, I thought it was hilarious. It was funny,
and it's my own.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
It was funny.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Because because people would roll down their windows saying, look,
I have nothing in my car windows. Yeah, please don't
break in. There's nothing of value. Yes, yes, here, everything
is here. Yeah. So, by the way, by the way,
my girlfriend Kristen, she actually went back and found the
pit audios air quotes. I didn't you are making things up.
(04:58):
She went back and she I told her about how
you guys didn't think she existed that I was making
it up.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Like what was it? The breakfast club? The fake girlfriend
and niagraph.
Speaker 7 (05:07):
Forty over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
By the way, breakfast club.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Nice?
Speaker 4 (05:10):
And so she thought this was hilarious, and she went
and found the audio and she's like, I listened to
the entire Cavino and Rich show last Friday while I
was cleaning the house.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
Oh that's nice.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
She thought that was a funny bit there. Sam brought
it on Friday. I will admit that he was. He
was stuck to my guns.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
He did. He absolutely did.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yeah, good job.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
I'm glad that she could listen. Yes, I enjoyed it.
Just and we'll move on. What I loved when Doug's
team won, and they put the graphic up. Somebody wrote
in all caps back, half of TikTok is going to
the comments, right, Oh that's all it is, maybe even
more than half.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Not just TikTok, Like my favorite pastime is reading comments
like it's so good. People are so funny. People are funny.
What did I love about the weekend? Not the All
Star game? But I did have a Valentine Day dinner
with a group of friends on Saturday night, and it
just was a nice break from my reality, you know
(06:08):
what I mean? Like yeah, like I don't see them often.
Drove down a Huntington beach. So Eric and Tim, thank
you for inviting us and cooking dinner, cooking dinner, you
guys who not ordering takeout, cooking dinner. And they even
had a vegan option for me. So they were very
very sweet, and I it was It was just nice
break from my reality.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Are weird?
Speaker 8 (06:29):
Reality?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Monster?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
You are?
Speaker 5 (06:30):
You are?
Speaker 2 (06:31):
This place is my reality? Absolutely is a glow and crawl.
What did you love for this past weekend? Now that
you're hungry after hearing about Monzi's great meal and the potatoes,
I'm starting I want.
Speaker 8 (06:41):
You to introduce me to your friends maybe I can
become their friends too. By the way, does your friend
Natalie mind being referred to as a goat?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Not at all?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Okay, just not at all.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Double check cry doesn't even know what it means, so okay,
it might require some.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
It might require some ex exactly.
Speaker 8 (06:58):
I loved the Saturday Night Live fiftieth anniversary special, and
like all SNL things, there were hits and missus, but
I particularly just enjoyed the homages and the tributes to
the parts of Saturday Night Live's history that unfortunately aren't
around anymore, most notably a guy like Chris Farley. It
(07:18):
was so great to just be reminded yet again just
how hilarious and brilliant he was. Where you want to
talk about Matt Foley Motivational Speaker is interview with Paul McCartney,
even Gilda Radner and Phil Hartman back in the day.
So that was one thing I loved from the weekend,
particularly those tributes to parts of SNL who are no
(07:38):
longer with us.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
I didn't see it.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
We were talking about it, but it seems like they
did a good job.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
I didn't see it either, I just saw it all
on YouTube.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Saw it like I was gonna say I'm only halfway
through the special. It's three hours long, so please no
spoiler as even longer.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Well, the spoilers don't go on the internet.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
I recorded it because I had stuff going on the internet,
because it's all over the internet.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Oh well, yeah, I saw some people criticizing it. We're gonna,
I think, talk more SNL later in the show. But yeah,
I made it about halfway through, and I think it
was about an hour and a half, so I still
got second half to go.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
They also had the music special on Saturday night. There
was a big SNL weekend, so they did it one
solely on the musical guests, and what they did on
Sunday they did the.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Full Maybe that's why I feel like it's so much content.
Maybe I'm seeing from both nights.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Yes, Okay, that absolutely could be the case. Sam. Since
you're you're there, what what'd you love from the weekend?
Speaker 4 (08:28):
So I went out yesterday first time to Santa Anita
Park in Arcadia, California, and it is quite the palace.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
It was, Uh, it was so large.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
I got lost getting in there, and I got lost
trying to find the infield. But it is it is
a Palace of Beautiful Indulgence. Loved it. And there's something
about like smelling cigar and cigarette smoke in the air
that like immediately brings you back to me, like kid,
you're a kid and you're at the County Fair.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
It's just like a wave of nostalgia. Oh, I think, well,
you go back.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
You know in the like late nineties, you go to
the Johnson County Fair, you go to the Iowa State
Fair and people were still allowed to just smoke and
walk around. So I got up to sant Anita Park
and it just feels like a nostalgic trip back to
my childhood. Just the waft and you know, you're outside,
so it's like whatever, but the waft of cigar and
cigarette smoke. But I went out there to watch our
former update anchors, Corgy Izzy belonging to Brian Fenley do
(09:26):
the Corgy National races, and so that was my first
time going to San Anita Park was to watch Corgy's race.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
How did Isy there?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
She was in heat number eight and unfortunately let me
get my music going again. There she did the She
was in the eighth heat and did not place in
the top two, so did not go off to the
semis or the finals. But it is quite the production
out there. There were you maybe encounter a corgy out
on the streets here and there, but the corgiity human
ratio was much higher, much elevated than in normal life.
(10:00):
So saw a bunch of Corgis, got to hang out
with Brian Fanley, Hey got to see him.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
He's doing well.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And it was just a splendid afternoon, beautiful weather, fantastic
food trucks, got to watch the corgy races. Put some
of it on my social media. At io was Sam
ninety nine, so you can see some of that fun.
That was what I love from the weekend. And I
loved Santa Anita Park is a degenerates shangry losat spot.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I've been there. We did a broadcast during the Breeders
Cup there.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I'm not a gambler either, and I just liked the
nostalgia of anesthetic of it was.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
It was a palace. It's a place you want to
go to again. Yeah, I think I would like to.
I think our answers here are completely post football season.
Motzi went out for dinner, Isaac's watching s and now
you're watching dogs race horse racing. Your comments. Yep, I'm
gonna I'm gonna just say this. It may sound like
a hate, but I'm going to make it a love.
(10:53):
CBS and the NCAA for some reason, well, they are
trying to be transparent with the bracket and showing where
teams would be seeded if the NCAA Tournament started on Saturday.
The problem is is they do it on Saturday when
(11:14):
two hundred and fifty college basketball teams play, which make
the seedings in the rankings already moots by the time
the game's finished. So while the SEC was dominant and
you could say okay up to that point, it automatically changes.
And I don't know why they I know why they
(11:34):
do it at that point because it's the broadcast window
and where they're going to have games. But they've got
to figure out a better way to do it. Maybe
do it on Sunday after an early CBS game, when
all of the Saturday games are played, so then teams
actually have a couple of days off that if we
wanted to, and I know college basketball doesn't necessarily translate,
(11:56):
but then we could talk about, hey, the SEC has
six teams in the top two. Well, the problem is
is two hours later. The rankings already could change because
of all the basketball's being played. So I love that
they're sticking to their guns, even though I hate it
in a way because they're irrelevant two hours later.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Yeah, it seems like a lot of work for it
to be done in two hours.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Irrelevant. It's like a sand castle. You spent hours building
it and then the wave comes in and just wipes
it out and it's over.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
Maybe they should bring in Carl Ravitch to give his
math on the SAC that'd make for some good TV.
There's just no separation between these teams.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Get this stat since January fourth? Oh so great. And
then he tried to cover it up. Oh my goodness,
Wait he did. He tried to readdress it. I didn't
see that on Twitter. He tried to say I was
tongue in cheek, and then everybody called him out on it.
And then so then he finally took the al weird joke.
But he said, yes, it was a really weird joke.
(12:54):
All right, there's our love for the weekend. It's time
for our hates. Since I'm up, I'm just gonna go
back to back. I'm gonna do this like the Chiefs
tried to there won't be a three peat. But you
know what I hated from this past weekend, Okay, my
wife's response to me organizing the garage completely underwhelming. I
(13:16):
spent like ninety minutes we had this. It's like a well.
First of all, all of my lawn tools are now
hung up on the wall. I have found a spot
to put Brody's tricycle that hangs on the wall out
of everyone's way. Even though I hung his scooter that
he tried to rip down from the wall that it
was hanging on. Everything was out there. I spent ninety minutes,
(13:38):
took my drill reposition. Yes I am not that handy
of a man, but I was for ninety minutes. And
it's one of those things where when I was done,
I just stood there and just looked at it all
for forty seconds day and you're so proud of yourself.
So then I tell my wife. I didn't think she
was gonna be brought to tears, but I just thought
(14:01):
there would be a little more nice, nicely done, looks nice.
All the stuff's hung up, and that was it. And
so I just felt completely underwhelmed for my ingenious all
of my my shovels, the leaf blower, battery not gas,
(14:21):
the shovel all everything's on the wall. The scooters hung up,
the tricycle is upside down. I found a spot for
the rake. That's what I hated. Her response, Brown both underwhelmed.
Great job, great job, great job approval. Dan I hate.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I hated kind of opposite a little bit of Jason
and I. I said this yesterday during According to Mansi,
I hated all of these NBA players tweeting that they
were maybe gonna come to the Slam Dunk Contest next year.
Shut up, no, you're not. Stop messing with us. Jah Morant, Joanni,
Santa Taku, poor Isaac. I keep looking at him like
(15:01):
he's in trouble.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
You're in trouble, Isaac.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
You know, all of them just pretending that Mac McClung
is exciting them and making them excited enough to maybe
do the Slam Dunk Contest next year. And it's so
annoying because it's the same stuff every year. Then we
get close to All Star weekend and you're all radio
silent and you're not joining the Slam Dunk Contest. So
(15:26):
stop messing with us.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Stop it.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
It's annoying. You're not doing it.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I saw a cliff that had Lebron James in two
thousand and nine. Yes, I'll be here next year. Yeah,
shut up. I'm preliminary in for the twenty ten All
Star Game Dunk Challenge at Dallas Stadium, as he called it. Yeah,
and he was a Cowboys fan.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Yeah, well he's all the fans, he's all the fans.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
He did not participate in that dunk count.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
No, it's like, hold him accountable and come on, do something.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
He said that they like.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
I just it's just annoying because you don't mean it.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
So stop.
Speaker 7 (15:57):
I bet if if John Moramp put a onto Giannis's head,
I think geez.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I just got that me too.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I was like, oh, right, right, right right, got it,
got it.
Speaker 7 (16:14):
I look how Dan doesn't laugh because he thinks it's
offensive or something. It's it's well with him. Play he's
he did that sham of a Jalen Rose interview and
now it's now we could joke about.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
I completely agree. Yes, it's it's not it's no, it's
not the part that you're wrong about. It's not that
I don't think Ja Morant should be criticized about it.
It's the drastic nature of the phrase of putting the
gun to his head, which is then when you put
(16:44):
Ja Morant in who had gun issues, that's where I
shake him. He gets all that. That was the worst
interview that I've ever seen that Jalen Rose. It was
the worst. It was completely awful. If that you know what,
if I could take back my hate, it would be
that interview from how many years ago? But I just
know where Also, Jason Stewart's going with all of this,
(17:04):
all right, Jason Stewart, So.
Speaker 7 (17:08):
I don't want to bore listeners with the details of this,
but Monsey could back me up on the facts. Ajah Wilson,
that's how you pronounced. She came out this weekend.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
She came out.
Speaker 7 (17:21):
She came out with her own shoe, right, It's a
cool looking pink shoe. And then she revealed to somebody
that she it was tough for her to keep this
secret of a Nike deal away from her parents for
two years. She's been sitting on this Nike deal for
two years, a signature shoe. And if you remember right
last summer when the entire WNBA was piling on Caitlin
(17:45):
Clark for being popular and they weren't. She had tweeted
something out when Caitlyn Clark announced her deal, she said
something kind of innocuous, and then her teammate forget her name,
is like, man, I'm going to get a shoe deal
before Aja will say and then a like sent like
laughy emojis. In other words, she never put out the flame.
(18:06):
She only added to the criticism so Caitlin Clark could
get more crap for being popular. Uh that's what I
couldn't stand this weekend. Aja Wilson was revealed for a
bad person. I'm gonna call her because of what she did.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Surprise. The emphasizes the ah and that the but that's son.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I'm sorry, that's so funny.
Speaker 7 (18:30):
Do you guys remember that nineteen eighties pop one hit
Wonder one hit Wonder, take on Me?
Speaker 6 (18:40):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (18:41):
They did take on Me?
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Uhh okay.
Speaker 8 (18:45):
They did the title song for a James Bond movie too,
By the way, did yes the Living Daylights.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I am a big aha hunting High and Low fan.
It is my one of my top favorite albums. I
would not say one hit Wonder, but Take On Me
was so much bigger than everything else. Isaac Low and crown.
What did you hate from this weekend?
Speaker 8 (19:11):
I only hated one respect of this. The rest of
it I found hilarious. But over the weekend, on Friday night,
Illinois retired the number of Terrace Shannon Junior. So it's
a beautiful ceremony.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
They go to.
Speaker 8 (19:30):
Reveal the retired jersey by lowering it from the raptors.
The jersey is upside down, and I hated it on
behalf of the one person somewhere whose responsibility it was
to set up that jersey. I hated it for them
because all of us can relate to this. Now well
(19:53):
that too, But we're in the business of live broadcasting,
so we may make a mistake. There's no edit button.
It's out there for forever, and we all have to
be on top of so many different details. Sometimes a
verbal slip up happens. It happens to the best of us.
(20:14):
And this person probably had thirty six thousand different details
to make sure of what this ceremony and the one
most important thing slip through the crack.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
You ever try to hang a flag on a flag pole? Yes,
it's hard, Oh my goodness, yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I went to Catholic school and we had to do
it ourselves like the kids.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
So it was very difficult.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
But this thing as it's.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Going up, because it has to.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Go up first, as you're looking at it go up,
aren't you like, huh it seems wrong?
Speaker 2 (20:41):
No, no, no, keep going. There's That's what I don't get
because it didn't start a share start. You had to
send it up there. No, no, no, you have to
own that. No you do not. Well.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Once they reveal it though, and they start, it's already
upside down and you're like, but I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Somebody had to put it up there, so on its
way up before people showed up, you're watching it go
up upside down.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
No, they hoisted during the game, right, that was the
didn't they bring it down? They lowered it from the raptors.
Speaker 8 (21:08):
So they either raised it or they had somebody walk
up into a catwalk and then lowered. I I feel
like that seems too complicated. By the way, did you
make a great point with your flagpole flag analogy? Because
the first time the Blue Jays were ever in the
World Series against Atlanta, they go out to do the
national anthem before Game two. The US Marines are there
(21:28):
to display the Canadian flag in Atlanta. They displayed it
upside down and it turned out to be a whole
big thing.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Josh Whitman, the Illinois a D really spoke afterwards. My
favorite quote was, of course I didn't hang the jersey,
but I'm ultimately responsible for everything that happens in this building.
Of Course I didn't I didn't do it, but I'm
responsible for everything.
Speaker 8 (21:50):
Looks like he hung whoever it was.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
It was out to dry. Oh yes, yeah, that's embarrassing.
All right. Iowa Sam wrap our hates up for the week.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
So my hate the week weekend is uh, it involves
bandwagons and butt cheeks. I have one cheek on the
Iowa women's basketball team's bandwagon. They lost today in a
strange President's Day game against Ohio State in overtime. They lost,
but that snapped a six game winning streak for them,
so they're they're.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
On the right path.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
My part of my my bum is on that bandwagon
heading into the postseason, and then part of my part
of me is off the bandwagon for the Iowa men.
They won their first road game last week at Rutgers,
and then they come turn around and they go to Maryland.
Very different atmosphere than Jersey Mike's Arena there playing in Maryland.
(22:42):
And if you saw the score one oh one to
seventy five, you think that that would ever be a
game that was close.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
If you saw one on one to seventy five, oh,
probably not. Probably not.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
You break one hundred points, you blow out your competition
by twenty six. Iowa actually had a lead in this
game at the half fifty.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
He won seven.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
And they follow that up with one of the worst
halves of basketball I've ever seen. They went oh for
thirteen shooting threes and they only scored twenty four points.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Me all right, that's enough time with IOWA hate. This
week fifty Fox Sports one. So I'm Dan Bayer. This
is show.

Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio on this President's
Day holiday. I'm Dan Byer. She's Monty Blago sitting in
for Doug. We're gonna hear from Doug in a matter
of minutes that not only talk about the ending of
his twenty one game, losing streak as Green Bay top
to Wright State yesterday, but Doug was in the news
because of a tweet by one Lebron James and the
(23:57):
coach of the Green Bay Phoenix and host of the
Doug Gottlieb Shows us here on Fox Sports Radio. Doug,
first off, congratulations on the w on Sunday, Welcome to
your own show.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
You know, two streaks broken eighty nine days. That will
win those streak one. And then as a program, we
hadn't won a Division One game at the Cres Center,
which is our on campus facility, since twenty twenty one. Wow. Now,
I'm fairness. We only play there about four to six
times a year, but it's been it's the curse of
(24:31):
the Cress And it was Yeah, it was a lot.
So that was It was fun. It was great for
the guys. You know, they're just such a good group
of young men. And I've told I know everybody who
listens to the show, and then all these people who
come to town like they're awesome kids and they're totally
united on wanting to win every game. But you know,
(24:54):
the results just haven't been there. And yesterday, I thought
the second half of our game Friday night and then
probably the last thirty seven minutes actually most of the
game yesterday, Like, they were just awesome in terms of
buying in defensively and playing just as hard as they could.
They weren't perfect, they played really hard.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
It was a fun game to watch. I was able
to watch the second half and even even a shot
clock breakdown couldn't stop the Phoenix from snapping that losing streak.
And it's funny.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Yeah, way we had a shot cut violation on defense
in the first half, that's when they were working. That's
how much better we've gotten defensively. We went from I
told our guys, we went from bottom five in the
country defensively to getting a shotcog violation against a really
good team. Like that's a good team. So yeah, that
was awesome.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Now, the targets and stuff that you've had to face
throughout the last couple of months, it's new to you
because you're the head coach at Green Bay, but when
you're a sports talk show host for a living, I
know it's part of the territory. Well what is it
like and what is your response when Lebron James tweets
at you about your your coaching record and what you've
(26:04):
done at Green Bay so far the season?
Speaker 6 (26:06):
Well, you know, I had no I had no idea
like I was, I knew I had the day off
at that point in time, and so all of a sudden,
I get, I get like, my phone just goes crazy.
When I was getting ready to hang out with with
Hayes and my son and just like, what did you
(26:27):
do to Lebron? I was like, I'm I'm off, dude,
I'm not even I'm not on Soldier media today, I'm
not on anything, And what are you talking about? So
people send it to me? I don't know, I don't
I don't think it speaks well for somebody who like,
don't you have the day off? Don't you have don't
(26:47):
you have better things to do? My response is Colin
told me a long time ago, don't don't punch down,
always punch up, So me talking trash to him would
technically be punching up and him is punching down. So
I don't know. I mean, I guess pettiness and insecurity
aren't limited to people who aren't super successful in their field.
(27:11):
I guess that that would be my response. I don't
not really sure. Some kind of was it some random
Twitter handle who posted something about me about our record,
and then he I got all the different notes in
the tweet, but it just doesn't I don't know, it
doesn't make any sense. Like why on a President's Day Monday,
(27:34):
when you have the day off, are you worried about me?
Not really sure?
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Listen, coach I.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Kind of said the same thing. You're living rent free
in his head. That literally what I said. So it
seems like you're you're not going to respond.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
Well, I don't know what, like what, Like it's not
like what's the response. I don't really know what do
we have to respond to?
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Yeah, you're right, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
I mean he's just like, yeah, our record is not good. Okay,
Like I don't know. I mean all right, so like
what what's what's the point? My My thing is this,
Like if you're gonna talk trash about me like a fine,
you talk trash about records, fine, if you're gonna actually
do a story like you know, like the guys like
Brian died in the athletic and there's one coming out
(28:14):
CBS Sports and there's one coming out of USA today,
Like investment in time and figure out what's going on
but I don't. I don't even know what I'm responding to,
just other than lebron talking ish to me. Why because
I didn't think Bronne should be a Dads All American
or should have been the NBA draft pick. Like, okay,
that's my my job to give a sports opinion. So
(28:36):
this is what he wants to do, Like okay, like
grab a mic, take some straighties, take some bullets. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
I don't even know, like what what the response is,
other than you know, he's trying to clown us for
our record, Like okay, hey and listen, if it was easy,
everybody would do it. And you know, I know what
we're doing. I know what we're building. I have an
incredible amount of pride, not just in the final score,
(29:03):
but if you watch that game, and I know, Dan
you did, how awesome was our bench? Like we have
like our you know, we have roughly forty points sitting
over there. Plus we have a couple of other guys
are injured, and then a couple of other guys are
red shirting, you know, guys in sweats, and they were
awesome today. Like that's what this is about. That's about
teaching guys to be good teammates. And it's really hard
(29:25):
because we're in a society that doesn't teach young people
to be great teammates, doesn't teach young people it's okay
to sit and cheer for somebody else who's do work.
We like you, like we said, you haveked about Ben
Tweety or no, Jason has about Ben Tweety on the call,
like you know, I changed my starting lineup there so
and then we played c J O'Hara a bunch at
(29:46):
the end of the game. And so some of my
starters did not play a ton of minutes last night.
And we're obviously without you know, our our far away
our league scorer and best player, and without you know,
Ton Levyard, our best since I player, And you know what,
none of them are pouting like they're all they're waving
a towel, flapping fives. You know. So, I honestly I
(30:10):
don't care. There's my response, Monci, there's I could I
gives zero f not even one.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
I get that. Doug Gottlieb, by the way, guest on
his own show, The Doug Gottlieb Show, she is Moncey
Bolaonio So I'm Dan by her in for Doug is
again you hear Doug's traveling today. But when Lebron says
something like this, it doesn't matter to you. But you
know that there's probably fifteen kids that have spent their
entire lives cheering for Lebron James and now he's coming, Like,
how does that make you feel?
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Like?
Speaker 2 (30:39):
How do you how do the players respond? Have they
giving you any discourse on stuff like that?
Speaker 6 (30:45):
Well, my players have all like texted me or called
me and said, you know, something along the lines basically
of hey, we got your back, and I'm like, don't worry,
but like I'm fine, I'm a big boy. But but
like my son, like he happened to He's like, dude,
I love Lebron. What did you say, Lebron? No, I
(31:06):
said nothing and nothing the like Dan thoughs The only
thing I've ever said here recently is if the worst
thing he's done is force his son's way into the
NBA in twenty years, So that's literally the worst crime
he's committed. He's had a pretty good career, right, Like,
he's arguably one of the one of the best players
in the history of the sport. Multi time Olympian, all
(31:29):
the time, league scoring, the NBA and in comparison to
things that others have done, like he's a relative angel.
I don't think he's done right by his son in
trying to He's done right by his son in terms
of trying to force him into the in the NBA.
But other than that, like all right, now, we're just
you know, now we're just picking on dudes like Giannis's
(31:50):
brothers are in the league. You know, we go back
to that stuff.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
So different when it's your kid, though, you know, it's
different when it's your kid. Yeah, of course, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
But but like look, if you don't, you can't I
understand that he's If that's what he's responding to, why
is he responding to it now? It's so weird. The
whole thing is so weird. It's like somebody told him, Hey,
Doug GOTTLIEBZ or whatever, Like I'm not even really sure why,
you know, Like I don't even get it. I honestly,
(32:22):
it's kind of a loser deal, just is. It's like
one of those you don't have more important things going
on in your life on a Monday on an All
Star break than tweeting about me and our teams record.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
I thought he was sitting on the can on X
scrolling through the for you, because it's not a following thing.
It was an old tweet. You had already won a
game and it came up, and I think that that
popped in and that's that's when he took the opportunity.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
So he was so he was. Is that called trolling?
What is that called when you're like searching somebody's name
or your own name and I.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Don't think you searched it. I have a feeling it
popped up so that in his algorithm, I think so
like it was in his Why was my?
Speaker 6 (33:05):
Why was green Bay basketball? I mean, that doesn't speak
It doesn't speak to what ultimately is going to happen
here at Green Bay. I don't know what does.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I don't know that, Lebron. I'm just guessing too.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
Was just tweeting about it on a Monday, that we're
in people's algorithm.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
How about how about I can say I'm not in
his head, but I'm in his algorithm, which is kind
of the same thing. That's Hey, hey, Lebron, I'm in
your algorithm, babe.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
You'll have more to say when you're back in your
chair tomorrow. I am sure. Congrats on that.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
I just people were, people were just so mean. I
don't know, damn we dam we won. Nothing's going nothing
is going to stop this high.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I know, I know. I said, you have the fifth
longest winning streak in the Horizon League. We said yesterday
Monzi did breaking news because it was during my show
when you won, and yeah, we had the game on
and the whole deal. It was great. So CONGRATU. Yeah,
that's very nice.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
I mean, like, look again, my statement is, I don't care.
I really wish I would love an explanation for why
a four year old with three kids, you know, one's
a professional player on All Star break, is even on
(34:24):
Twitter let alone worried about me. Crazy.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I just felt bad for your players if they took
any heat, but obviously.
Speaker 6 (34:31):
So, they've taken plenty of heat. They don't need it.
They're fine, by the way. By the way, all of
them just called me from the gym on the day off.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
All right, let's make it back to back. Yeah, Doug,
we appreciate it. Talk to you soon. Doug Gottlieb, host
of his own show Here at the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
App Doug Gottlieb Show at Fox Sports Radio. She's Monte Milago,
so I'm dan by her in for Doug again. Lebron
needed to text Doug while he was on the losing streak.
You don't do it after a one game win streak.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
Yeah, yeah, too little, too late, or like not retweeting
someone else right, Like he could have literally said a
tweet when they lost.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Eighteen in a row, Yes, nineteen, yes, twenty. But now
he's got a lot of time off.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
He has a lot of time off. His foot's messed up.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Let's go to the press, the press. Monty's gonna have
a lot to say. We're gonna be sticking around as
well as we'reing for Cavino and Rich. But let's wrap
up the Doug Gotlib Show with some headlines.
Speaker 8 (35:43):
Isaac all right during this afternoon's show. In fact, at
the Four Nations face off, Canada defeated Finland five to three.
That's not really the story. The story is with the
victory Canada has clinched a spot in the championship game
Thursday against Team USA. Gotta be a rematch in the
(36:03):
ring the hoops, I mean in the rink, Yes, I.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Mean is there a third place game?
Speaker 6 (36:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:10):
To be honest, nobody with four teams just advance right.
I'll tell you what. They've actually made it work where
the NBA All Star Game is still searching.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Absolutely, there was some exciting and not just that one
between USA and Canada. It's been a fun, a fun
little tournament to watch.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
It worked for them, absolutely, a lot of pugilism.
Speaker 8 (36:35):
And there'll be more. That matchup will take place in Boston,
by the way, so I think that'll add a whole
new dynamic as well. We have a college basketball item
the ESPN reporting over the weekend that if the NCBLEA
tournament expands, it will expand to seventy six schools instead
(36:56):
of seventy two. So the nc DOUBLEA apparently catch the
spirit of seven.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
It's very good. Obviously sixty eight right now, you'd have
eight more teams. Pete Thamil's report from ESPN also said,
because Monty's got this bewildered look on her face, just
let everyone in So.
Speaker 8 (37:16):
That's exactly how I feel about it. That's going to
happen eventually, just the way we're going.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Yes, and I don't think it's a great move, but
I don't think that people are mad about it for
the reasons that they like. The reason to be mad
was when they broke away from sixty four. Yes, that
is the real reason. I don't think anybody now considers
the first four of the tournament to be part of
the tournament. We think it's the Thursday morning when the
(37:42):
first round games start. So I don't think people should
be mad on the expansion of this because it doesn't
really change anything. It's just more games that you didn't
care about anyway. But it actually does have teams trying
to play themselves into the field. What THEAMIL did say
is that if that happens seventy six, you would end
up having another first four site in a different part
(38:06):
of the country, which would I think would be better
for travel wise, so teams don't have quick turnarounds and
playing in Dayton and then maybe having to go somewhere else.
So you don'd have two first four sites if you
were to expand to seventy six. So it'd be a
first eight.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yes, the first eight, and then from there we'd go on.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I know it's not the alliteration, but it can go
the initial eight. You could have ooh, all right, Danell.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
You could do that's good, the initial eight.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
And they also said this that a decision is expected
to be made within the next couple of months. I
think they wanted to get it done by the end
of this tournament if they were to expand. So it
is a topic that's going to be a topic of
conversation over the next eight weeks or so. But seventy
two doesn't seem to be an answer. Seems to be
seventy six.
Speaker 8 (38:51):
And we press the exit button on this edition of
the Press.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
That get out there and pressed. That was the Press
the first week again without football. I know it's tough
for some, but I do like to get myself wrapped
up in college basketball. It makes me wonder if it's
a really good idea for the NBA to actually out
of the NFL season to have their All Star weekend.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
No, it doesn't seem like it makes sense in the
calendar year of sports.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Just add it to another problem that the NBA has.
She's Monzie I'm Dan. We're in for Doug. We're also
going to hang around and be in for Cavino and Rich.
That's here on Fox Sports Radio.
