(00:48):
You can always expect the d G Show on a
Monday to recap all of our thoughts from the weekend.
And uh, this was a big This was a kind
of a fun weekend because it was the first non
big NFL or non you know, like Final four whatever
where I felt like we all watched the same thing.
(01:10):
Don't get me wrong, Jase do I know, is watching
his Dodgers. I'm not sure if Sam was watching his
preseason WNBA kidding and of course Buyer we know was
locked in on this, as he said, this is his
favorite event in sports. But to have us all watch
it and you know, it's like you can sit next
(01:32):
to three other dudes that all love sports, that are
all about the same age, and that all work together,
but we have different vantage points. That's what makes this
so cool. Let's get to love and Hey.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
What did you love?
Speaker 1 (01:44):
God? I love you?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
And what did you hate?
Speaker 1 (01:47):
These player? Hay Is, Hey they're Dan Byer. What'd you
love from the weekend?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Well, Doug, this one is pretty easy for me because
it was my entire weekend. I know basketball was played yesterday.
I know we have a bracket in the NBA playoffs,
but I even tweeted about this that right at eleven
o'clock when the broadcast for the Masters started, I had
our TV on at my house and this was actually
(02:24):
I broadcast from by your Cabin again on Sunday for
my Sunday show with Mike Harmon. So I had the
Paramount Plus stream going on from nine local time to eleven,
and when our show ended at ten fifty five local time,
I went downstairs and I turned it on DOUG It
was one of those DirectTV boxes about to go in
(02:46):
sleep mode because I just did not touch the remote
control for four hours, and it was four and a
half to five hours, and then it was over to
Golf Channel after that. But I was truly captivated by
what happened yet yesterday, in the history that we saw
with Rory McElroy and really just the entire Masters event.
(03:07):
I loved every minute of it. I cheered, I was
almost brought to tears. I wasn't even on a text
chain with anybody. I was so wrapped up into it
of what was going on. I felt physically drained after
it was all over with in just watching it and
sitting on the couch the whole time. It was a
magnificent four and a half five hour, drama filled roller
(03:31):
coaster ride that I wondered, would it be a dud?
We've had those Masters years before, and the fact that
not only it wasn't a dud, but it was history
was magnificent. So I loved just everything about the Masters
this weekend, everything about it. Yesterday, I know baseball was happening.
I couldn't tell you anything outside of the Mike Trout
(03:53):
foul ball confrontation with the fan that wasn't a confrontation
that was also going to be my love because I
loved how that played out. But everything about the Masters
this weekend was to me just spectacular. Given Bryson shot
making on Saturday to keep us interested and keep that
rivalry to carry us overnight, all of it was great.
It completely surpassed any expectation of what we had of
(04:17):
going into the Masters.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Great stuff, Chase two.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
It was kind of like an NFL Sunday for me,
and that my TV was on Sports from eleven until
eight thirty at night or whatever it was. It's so
rare that you get a non NFL Sunday like that,
because the cool thing about the playoff and the Masters
is that butted right up against the beginning of the
Dodger game. Things did not work out for the Dodgers.
(04:47):
And I'm gonna say this in my love because I
loved being able to sit on my couch and watch
sports all day. But within the love, there's something that
annoys me. I don't know if you guys saw this
in the Dodger game, but Nico Horner was miked up.
Nico Horner is the second baseman of the Cups. There
was a pop up behind second base yesterday. As he's
(05:10):
miked up and has a headset in his ear or whatever,
he needs to make one of the toughest plays in sports,
running away from the infield. You have the outfielder coming in.
And I just think that that's not responsible to have
players miked up in the middle of a game. Literally,
(05:31):
he could have been hurt if just one thing distracted him.
In fact, he said, running off the field last night,
that's the worst kind of play that you can have
with a microphone in your ear. And I said, that's
exactly right. And if he was hurt, permanently damaged, at
the very least, it would have stopped the stupid miked
(05:53):
up on ESPN.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
That's the cenator from California. Jason Stewart.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
What do you got, Well, my name is Ryan actually,
but uh, thank you, I forgot we did. I just
swapped h I love the fact that my Clippers, yes
I'm a Clippers fan, beat the Warriors because I can't
stand the Warriors. I grew up in the Bay Area
and when I was growing up, no one liked the Warriors.
Everyone liked the Bulls because of Michael Jordan. Then all
(06:22):
of a sudden, like when the Warriors got better, everyone's like,
oh yeah, lifelong Warriors fan. Yeah, Chris Mulling this, Chris
Gatling ya YadA, YadA.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
No, you weren't. I was there. You're a liar. And
I love the fact that my Clippers beat the Warriors.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
That's it, Okay, okay, I mean it was just a
regular season game, but a meaningful one nonetheless, so I
like it.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I follow a lot of the Warriors and Clippers. You
beat writers and people who cover those teams. Yeah, as
I was trying to keep up and follow the Masters
as well on social media. There's that seemed to be
a heck of a ball game yesterday. Again, I have
no idea, did not change the channel at all, but
they were saying a great job and what a great
job by Moses Moody and the whole deal and the
(07:09):
Clippers win and yes, but couldn't tell.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
You, okay, uh. Things I love from the weekend. The
Nazi guy got knocked out in UFC? Which guy was that?
Did you got anybody watch UFC? Was that Friday or
Saturday night? Again? My my weekend. I don't know, your
days kind of run together. But there was a guy
who was talking lovingly about Hitler and then he got
(07:34):
knocked out. That that was amazing. I was like, uh, oh, oh,
there we go. The Nazi got knocked out. Cool, he's
just talking the glorily about Hitler. But again, what I
I loved I loved the raw motion of Rory. I
loved the uh just the camera focused on him as
he's walking in people, and you could just see it
(07:56):
setting in on him what he had accomplished, all the
ups and downs. Right as he's walking in, he's just
can't like you can just see, you can almost feel
like he's saying to himself, I can't believe it. I
finally did it. I can't believe it. I finally did it.
And it just you guys, you know the part I'm
talking about, right where he after the eighteenth toll, where
(08:17):
he's taking what seemed like just a ridiculously long walk
to the clubhouse and he's just and then you know,
he comes up on his boys, he's talking with them.
I just watching somebody kind of emotionally work through what
we just watched for the last four or five hours.
And as Dan said, like this goes back to twenty eleven,
(08:37):
So you're walking through fourteen fifteen years of mental anguish
and then it's all on camera and we're trying to
read his body language. That was I loved it. I
loved it all right, what do you hate from the weekend?
Let's turn to the other side. What do you got there,
Jason Sugar, resident hater?
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Just a little bit of visual on your first love. Okay,
So Bryce Mitchell is the fighter. He on a podcast,
has been taken up for Nazis and stuff. He got
choked unconscious and Gene Silva stood above his unconscious body
and talked talked ess to him while he was unconscious.
(09:21):
So that was a cool visual over the weekend. Beautiful interesting,
like antisemitic stories going on around right now. That whole
Dave Smith Douglas Murray debate on Joe Rogan is fascinating.
I encourage all our listeners to access that and then
(09:42):
check out what Pierce Morgan said on Bill Maher Friday Night.
It's I think that both of these things are important
to access and listen to the thing that I hated
most about the weekend, and I totally forgot what I
hated from the weekend after if you got me on
the anti a medic tangent, I'm thinking about doing for
(10:04):
the first time, and in passing, I'm going to pass
and then circle back to me when you think of
oh no, this is what I couldn't stand. On my
Twitter account right now, if you go to ad Jason Stewart,
you can see a visual the Rockies reveal their new
City Connect uniforms and they're just ridiculous. They're outlandish, they're stupid.
(10:24):
There's colors that aren't Rocky colors. There's yellow, and then
they have their quarterback, their shortstop Tovar, looking all badass
in it, but he looks like a clown. I hate
the Rockies new City Connect uniforms in general. I'm against
City Connect uniforms, but these were outrageously stupid.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Thank your.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
JASETU, I mean, I mean sorry, I was Sam. No,
I mean it's not there.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
You go there, you go sport back to the Clippers Warriors,
so there is a diehard Warriors fan. You hate your mom, No,
I don't, Mom, I love you. If you're listening, uh,
I call her all the time. So I called after
my Clippers beat her Warriors, and well Doug, have you
(11:15):
ever been cussed out by your mother? No, that's not true.
I doubt that. I doubt that very seriously.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
My mom does not curse.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Okay, well, has your mother ever yelled at you?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah? Of course.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Okay, Well that's I got cussing and yelling when I
called and went like this, Hi, Mom, how are you?
What the belief do you want? Why are you calling me?
I'm like, Mom, I'm your son, and she's like, I
hate your clippers, I hate beard Man. She calls James
Harden beard Man. She hates him, and she hung up
by me. I'm like, Mom, I'm your son, I'm your son. Yeah,
(11:47):
she was, she was. She was not happy. So that's
what I hated about the weekend. That probably doesn't happen
too often.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
I mean, considering the great run that the Warriors were on, right,
I mean.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
No, but every time they lose, I do kind of
like Tezer about it because I don't like the Warriors.
I don't like Draymond Green, I don't like Steph Curry.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
So yeah, okay, what about you there, Dan.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Byer Well, Doug, I hated that yesterday happened to Justin Rose.
I hated that it very likely, in my opinion, was
his last chance at a green jacket and last chance
at a major championship run. I get the recent form
(12:32):
that he is in, and it was such a positive
message after his round, saying, hey, this happened to me
in twenty seventeen when I lost to Sergio and I
was able to take advantage of that. I became world
number one. I've now finished second in the last two majors.
I think positives will come from that. But truly, to
(12:53):
play the round of I don't want to say the
round of his life, but in those circumstances and what
he needed to do, especially on the second nine, and
to see him fall short to someone else's story, it's
captivated America. Like if it was anybody else, I think
we all would have been let's go Rosie, Let's go
(13:14):
Justin Rose, especially for people in their forties like I am,
and cheering for a guy that is our contemporary. I mean,
I love Rory and Rory is great, but Rory isn't
necessarily my generation. So if it was anybody else that
Justin Rose was playing against, I think we all would
have been for Justin Rose, except maybe Tiger Woods. So
(13:37):
there may be two people, but to have him come
so close and not be able to cash in again.
So really, I don't want to say no fault of
his own. He could have played better on Saturday, and
he did miss some short putts on Sunday. Nobody was
perfect on Sunday and he was darn good and for
him to fall short, Yeah, I hated that. I loved
(14:00):
everything with the Masters, and I loved Rory getting the
career Grand Slam. I just hate that it had to
come at the expense of Justin Rose in a playoff.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
To your point, like he did miss a couple of
putts and I don't know which holes You'll know, like
to think of how good he played, and he was
on such a heater and you could just see it
in his body language. Man, I've got this thing, I've
got this thing. And then he did miss a putt
and that's all the difference in the world.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Yeah, I'm in fourteen and seventeen. He bogied, but otherwise
there was a shape on every score I think on
his scorecard of the second nine, truly remarkable, and just
when we had counted him out. Honestly, when we were
looking at the leader board, Justin Rose was the leader
going in to the third round, and we had completely
(14:50):
counted him out. Were like, is Rory's back in it
after a sixty six? Bryson Deshamba is there? Scotty Scheffler's
going for three of his last four, Ludvig Goldberg is
the next great star in golf, the soft spoken swede,
all of that, and then when he came to Justin
Rowls like, yeah, he's gonna fall off and he won't
be there in the end, and then he fell off
(15:10):
on Saturday, so he kind of dismissed him going into Sunday.
And for him to have the comeback that he did
would have been a great story in pretty much any
other Masters, but it was just completely overshadowed and in
fact probably turn into the villain for some because he
would have been a one to prevent Rory.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Yeah. I don't think he well, he may have turned
the villain. It just seemed like such a likable guy.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Oh yes, right, he is, like man, such.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
A likable guy. But h and he didn't play poorly.
You know. It's like one of those things where like, yeah,
he's eighteen.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
To to ultimately get into the playoff. I mean, he
sunk a long put on eighteen to put him at
eleven under and to get to that number. Yeah, it's
great after that tough fog that he had on seventeen.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I hate the playing. I hate the playing. You know,
I understand what the NBA has been trying to do
and to make it more exciting, but what does it
really really solve. It doesn't change tanking. You know, maybe
it takes two or three more teams away from tanking.
(16:23):
If anything, it a couple of years ago it kept
stuff out of the playoffs. It can keep them out
of the playoffs this year, like they're clearly a playoff team,
especially since the trade. But I just don't like the play.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
I agree with you. I feel it's there to save
teams like the Phoenix Suns who couldn't be saved, right,
even if it's just to get an extra game in
or maybe it was just an awful regular season, but
maybe they could put something together in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Who knows.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
But even like a team like the Phoenix Suns couldn't be.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Saved, Nope, could not be saved at all. Any other
hates all right, that's the love.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
And hey, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Stug Ottlab Show Fox Sports Radio. I've tried to make
it a point to not be that guy as a
basketball coach now, which is by that guy means you
get locked in on little things that don't matter. But
there are certain things that do matter. So I want
to play for you something that he's a former NBA
head coach, course, former NBA superstar, current broadcaster. He's also
(17:37):
been president of the NBA team and he's been the
owner of the CBA. That's not the collective party agreement,
that's the Continental Basketball Association. Of course, it did go
bankrupt during his time. It's Isaiah Thomas. So they were
showing footage of Lebron James shooting at Staples pregame with
his shirt off, and here's what Zeke had to say about.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
It, shirts and stances, what they're doing it now.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
I just totally one object to this, And if I
was the GM of coach, I would never let one
of my players walk out on the floor looking like this.
I mean, we are professional in the A League, we ain't.
We ain't Summer League at the YMCAs and I think.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
I think coaches got to go back to suits.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
I just meantely.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Yeah. So it's a big thing about Lebron who was
shooting in the gym in the sun stables. It's crypto
now and the question becomes like do we care? My
point would be, I believe this was in the time
before any of the fans were in the gym. It's
something Lebron. He hasn't done it all the time. He
(18:49):
started doing last year in the playoffs, getting in there,
getting his work in, and then you know, they shower,
they get a massage, they have dinner, they get ready,
et cetera, et cetera. Does it matter if no one's
in there? I mean to me, it's like, I why
do I care? Why?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Why?
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Why do I care? For the NBA? Is that a
bad reflection on them? I don't think so. If there
are people in the gym, by all means a cut off.
You know, Lakers shirt for shooting in is very reasonable.
But you're in a gym by yourself, you know. Again,
this is this is the thing with Lebron. Are there
(19:27):
some things that Lebron does that irritate me. Sure, do
I think he's not always as you know, he's unselfish
and a selfless way. Absolutely do. I love the the
Bronni James whole thing. And then you know, yesterday Bronnie
starts and plays and they get mollywomped. He won very good,
like you know, and he does the Trump thing where
you can't say anything even middle of the road, you
(19:50):
come out as negative, and then he doesn't want anything
to do with you. Like all those things are not
great representations of Yeah, the guy with unquestionably the best
career in the history of the sport. But if the
worst thing that Lebron James does is, you know, force
the Lakers to act like they love having Bronni and
(20:12):
play him in Game eighty two or shoot shots at
two in the afternoon with his shirt off, like, these
things are not that bad? Am I looking at this
the wrong way? I mean, let me let me ask you,
Jay stew you're as much of a mainstream hater as possible,
(20:33):
but you're also not a huge Lebron guy for some
of his other off court antics. What do you think
when you see him shooting shirtless at Crypto?
Speaker 5 (20:41):
No, I don't think anything about it. I think this
is a weird one for Isaiah to attach himself to.
I've seen a lot of reaction over the weekend. I've
seen almost nobody disagreeing or I'm sorry, agreeing with Isaiah's take.
And this is the problem too, because you know, Raymond
and a lot of the current players issue with the
(21:03):
old school players is that they all they do is
hate They hate everything about the current players, and Isaiah
picking a fight on this one takes away from the
actual like issues that people do have with current players.
Like I do think that there are some very reputable
opinions about the way current players approach the game that
(21:27):
that we should focus on, and this one's just kind
of ridiculous and it distracts us from the actual claims
that are accurate.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
What do you think, Jase Do? I mean, what do
you think? Dan Byram, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
I'm like, that's that's all right. Jase Do and I
we always get mixed up. Whenever we're even out together.
It happens people are like, you know, are you Murphy,
Are you O'Brien? No, that's Murphy, that's O'Brien. That's a
Seinfeld reference.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
By the way, yes.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Uh. The what I find interesting is this, And I
was thinking about like in the National Football League as well, Remember,
like the NFL wouldn't let Jack del Rio and Mike
Nolan wear suits on the sidelines because it wasn't NFL
licensed gear that you could buy in an NFL shop. Yes,
(22:18):
And I just think that when you take the court,
when you're doing your postgame press conferences and that you
know the sponsor is up, like that would be the
thing to maybe get mad about, Like if you're the NBA,
to be like, hey man, we need you to wear
our gear out there because we're trying to sell this
sort of stuff, and maybe, you know, maybe at one
point the NFL will will do it as well, like
(22:40):
this is our pregame warm up stuff. But to think
that it's disrespectful to go out there without a top
on or a shirt on, I think is pretty absurd.
And I'm sure a lot of people are saying, hey,
if I had the physique of Lebron, like at that point,
I wouldn't wear a shirt to work either. I wouldn't
(23:00):
either if I would just show up at Fox Sports
Radio shirtless if I had that physique. But I think
that he's he's picking on something that nobody really cares about.
If the NBA wanted to do something like, hey, you
got to wear our pregame shooting shirt that you can
get for sixty nine to ninety nine at NBA store
dot com, maybe lame, but I'd be like, all right,
well there's the reason for it. This just doesn't seem
(23:22):
to have any reason whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, this it's just so weird, especially with nobody in
the gym. With nobody in the gym, and.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
We see, but we see, and we see workouts all
the time.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
All the time, all the time, all the time, all
the time. Bigger issue is if the guy isn't working out,
the guy is working out without a shirt on, you know,
take your wins. He's forty some years old and he's
still working it. E It's the Dug Gottlieve Show on
Fox Sports Radio. So Mike Boonholzer was fired, and I
(23:55):
it's weird, right. He had it going in Atlanta, he
won a title in Milwaukee. But somewhere along the lines,
I had just been told, Man, he's a tough one
in terms of, you know, even trying to find assistant coaches.
Last year he had to go pretty far down his
list because so many guys had said I don't know,
(24:21):
but like at this point, you can't say the Sun's
experiment is anywhere close to working, right. I mean, the
first thing seems easy, which is move off of Kevin Durant.
He probably don't want to be there, which is weird, right,
He could have been moved at the trade deadline. He
(24:42):
wanted to see you all the way through. But man,
Kevin Rant, he makes just some bad decisions in terms
of who he aligns himself with. And then of course
they made bad decisions when they got the job. You
know when you know why when they change regimes. They
got rid of DeAndre Ayton because the previous staff had
(25:04):
really disliked Ayton and they just gave him away to
Portland for backups. Not that DeAndre was great, but what
you got for him, and then never having the starting
center after that is problematic. You know, you don't have
a point guard, you don't have a center. Doesn't feel
like you truly have a chance, despite the fact that
(25:24):
you had three supreme talents and Bradley Beal. Now we know,
best player and a bad team can't be the best
player on a good team, or even the second best
player a good team. But what a mess the Phoenix
Sunds are. Phoenix Suns are a bigger mess that many
teams with records below them.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Right, Well, yeah, now you're gonna trade Kevin Durant. There's
only so many teams Kevin Durant'll want to play for, right.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Right, and you're getting you're gonna get pennies back on
the dollar for what you gave up for Kevin Durant.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah. Absolutely, they.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
When Ishbia took over, it was a breath of fresh
air because of the problems that Robert Sarver had. Then
they go out and there are a lot of people
that questioned the Bradley Beal trade. Yes, I don't know
what to deal with Budenoleser is honestly even in terms
of it's funny because he does win the title with
(26:23):
the Bucks, but it did run out pretty quickly, and
you just wonder on how much Yannis and Chris Middleton
saved them in that scenario. But in Atlanta, as you mentioned,
his success, no real superstar at all. There was no
superstar they had. They had four all stars one year,
but there wasn't like a superstar with that, and you
(26:44):
just wonder why it fell out with Kevin Durant because
we saw so many Kevin Durant Mike Budenolezer videos, especially
over the second half of the season, of them maybe
not being on the same page. Changes made in Milwaukee.
I wonder how much Yiannis had to say in that
So is it just something with superstars that he can't
work with, or is in addition to everything else that
(27:06):
you said. I guess if superstars have the power and
he's not, he's pretty abrasive. Maybe that's the writing on
the wall. Can get away with it when there's no
star on the team.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yes, yes you can. It's a Doug Gottlieb show here
on Fox Sports Radio. That's the voice of Dan Byer.
Come to the next life with the tireg dot com
studios who overachieved and underachieved. Now that the regular season
is done in the NBA, we'll put our list together next.
But first, man, have you ever had a chaotic experience
like shipping something for somebody else, especially within your business?
(27:38):
You know, which should be easy becomes really kind of
a mess. Well, that's where if you're in charge of
order fulfillment for e commerce business right. You know that
it's a special kind of chaos. But with shipstation, you
can count on your day to day for remaining calm,

Speaker 3 (29:45):
You got, Doug?
Speaker 4 (29:46):
We just talked about Mike Budenholzer being fired by the
Phoenix Suns after one season. Yep, Phoenix, according to bet Online,
one of the top five teams that underachieved in the
twenty twenty four five NBA regular season. They were eleven
and a half wins below their win total projected win
(30:08):
total prior to the season, eleven and a half games
below that total, so they finished the season with thirty
six wins. Forty seven and a half was their total.
The most disappointing team of the season, no doubt, the
Philadelphia seventy six ers. They finished twenty five games below
their projected win total for the twenty twenty four twenty
(30:30):
twenty five season. The complete miss of a year with
the seventy six ers with the injuries to Joel Embiid,
Paul George, and Tyrese Maxi, Sixers won just twenty four games,
were twenty four and fifty eight. And then another team
I'm gonna mention the Pelicans. They were right behind Philadelphia
twenty four and a half doug below their expected number.
(30:53):
David Griffin fired today after six seasons as the Pelicans
executive vice president.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
The Mavericks were on Dallas was ten and a half.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
They were actually right under Phoenix, so they were ten
and a half games below their win total which was
forty nine.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
And a half.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Okay, how about yeah, how about.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
The overachieving squads? Do you want to guess that.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Over achieving squads? Yeah? Can I I can guess? What
can I? Do you need order or do I just guess?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
You can just guess any of the teams.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
I mean the Cavs have to be a massive over Yes.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
That is correct, fifteen and a half games above what
was projected. So they the Rockets, the Rockets, the Rockets. No,
they were eight and a half over their win total,
but not a top five team. But yes, eight and
a half over Lakers Lakers. Yeah, there were six and
a half over their win total. Fifty win season. They're
(31:50):
at forty three and a half.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Okay, so we need some other massive overachievers.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Pacers, the Indiana Pacers finished the regular season nine and
a half under. There are yes, they were expected to
win sixty games. Hold on a second, I think they
have a typo here. Yeah, they have a typo because
the over under they said fifteen games, which wasn't So
(32:15):
they finished the regular season with fifty wins, right, yes,
oh this is interesting. This is probably no you know
what this was? Can I say something with the Pacers?
This is we get a document from bed online. They
send great information a lot. I think this was a
voice to text because they wrote they finished the regular
season with fifteen wins. No, they finished the regular season
(32:38):
with fifty wins wins, yes, correct, so it would have been,
so they did overachieve because it was forty seven and
a half.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Okay, I mean Pistons have to be a massive overshaper, right.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
Priston's were the number one overachiever eighteen and a half
wins over their win total. They were projected to win
twenty five and a half games.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
That was the over under with forty four.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
And the Magic, the Orlando Magic. This on page three
of my document. The over under was forty eight and
a half. They finished with forty one, so they were
under the top five teams for the overachievers with the Pistons, Calves, Clippers,
Oklahoma City and Chicago Bulls thirty nine and forty three
(33:26):
on the season. Not much expected of the Bulls this
past season, So some interesting numbers there, Doug. You may
have heard me mention it in the updates. I'm not
surprised by this, and I will take the l complete
l on saying I thought Ronny James's jersey would be
a top fifteen seller in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
It was not.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
He was not a top fifteen seller.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
The top selling jersey through the NBA season Luka Doncic's
number seventy seven with the Los Angeles Lakers and you
only had two months to buy it. It's pretty amazing.
But I'm sure they probably took some of the Mavericks
totals as well, because he's not on here twice.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
I would think maybe, but.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
It's also the Lakers, the huge club news and even
Mavericks fans have bought his jersey.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Sure. Sure.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
The only the only reason I think that they probably
combined is Mavericks jersey and just put a Lakers logo
with it is because I would think that his Mavericks
jersey was probably going to be top fifteen anyway. I mean,
you'd have to think that Devin Booker's fourteen j Brown
is fifteen, that Lucas jersey was going to be more
popular than those, So he would probably be on this
list twice if they did it with separate teams. Do
(34:37):
you want to guess the top five outside of Luca
top five jersey, the top selling jerseys of this past season,
top five ran you guys want to throw any.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yes, I'm gonna say, Shay, Okay, SGA, SGA, Lebron's got
to be in there.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Lebron is in there. SGA was ninth, Lebron is third.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
I would even say Bronny, maybe.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Bronni did not make the top No, he just went
never mind. Yeah, I just said that he didn't make
the top ten. You just said that, That's what I
was saying.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Said Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
You're the one of the hearing problems, so you get
a free pass. Jason good point.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yes, yeah, I've been doing it all day, so don't
worry about Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Seventh did not make the top five. Top Joker Nicola
Jokic tenth did not make the top five. Oh, Jalen Brown,
I just said he was fifteen.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Oh sorry, yep, that's okay. Steph Curry.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Steph Curry is two, Steph c Jason Tatum, Jason Tatum
is four.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yep, and I'll give you number five. Hold on, wait,
Okayron Wemby. Wemby is six. Good guess, very good guess.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Hold on, it's it obviously is Kevin.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Most popular selling Jersey NBA store dot com this season?
But lucal Ones def Curry too, lebron three, Jason Tatum four,
and Blank is number five.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Oh okay, this is gonna sound weird because again not
an All Star and not Trey Young.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
No, he did not make the top fifteen.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Nobody likes Trey Young. I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Kyrie Irving, not Kyrie Irving. I gotta think big markets.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Here, big markets, come on, big markets, come on.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Funny for you, big markets, big markets. Jalen Brunson is
number five New York Knicks. Ja Morant's bulletproof vest was
number eight.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Just kidding. I saw that, Mima.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
That was very funny.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
That was what I find interesting is this two things
number one, LaMelo Ball is twelve.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
The Hornet stink. They have awesome colors.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
I think we can all agree, but even sometimes their
uniforms aren't like the old great Larry Johnson, early Alonzo Morning,
Tony Bennett days. If you will, they don't. They're not
the same as those. But it's a cool color scheme.
But I think young kids, young people really love LaMelo
Ball and for him to be he's higher than Durant,
(37:10):
Kevin Brook, Devin Booker, and Jalen Brown. So I find
that interesting. But I also just find it interesting that
Steph is too. Lebron is three, Like if you already have,
wouldn't you already have their jerseys if you want to?
Speaker 1 (37:23):
But one would think, but again that's why they come
up with these new jersey looks.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Sure, yeah, that's that's fair.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Yeah, Lakers were number one overall in team merchandise, So
there's a nice little wrap up.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
To the NBA merchandizing. Merchandizing.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
I think we hit the entire time. Oh, the one.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Lakers, the flame thrower, the kids that love this one.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
The one name that I left out in the top
fifteen is Giannis at number eleven, So that's the one
out of the top fifteen mentioned. David Griffin is out mentioned,
Mike Budenholzer is out mentioned. Luka Doncic. We've got the
WNBA direct coming up tonight. Paige Becker's expected to be
the first overall pick. WNBA season begins in a month.
(38:08):
Doug Aaron Judge going to be the member of Team
USA in the World Baseball Classic. We mentioned that a
bit earlier. And Max Crosby of the Raiders your new
assistant GM of the Eastern Michigan University football program.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Yeah, so those things are interesting. Like most guys that
become those assistant gyms, it's like a donation they make
every year and then you know, they can if they want,
they can call kids or you know, tell you some
of they saw or you know, used to name the portal.
I'd be I'd be interested to know the dollar figures
for some of these guys who are essentially buying this
(38:45):
GM position.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
And the Ohio State Buck guys were recognized today for
their National Championship win with a trip to the White House.
Vice President JD. Vance did drop the National Championship trophy.
Didn't realize that it's a two piece trophy, fumbled it.
Joked on X that he dropped it so no other
team could ever win that trophy outside of Ohio State. Hell,
(39:07):
pretty good line, pretty good line from the VP.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Was it a two piece trophy before JD vanscot his
hands on it? That's the question.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
That's the press. They get out there and pressed.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
That was the press. It's a Doug Gotlieb Show Fox Portrait.
