my guy, Ryan Berschinger's producer today. Of course, you got
Chris Purffett on the ones and twos and we're rocking
(00:44):
with you. Mark Medina will join us later on this hour.
We'll talk about the NBA playoffs. There's something Donald trumpion
to what's going on in Colorado with Dion Sanders. I'll
tell you what that is in about fifteen minutes. Before
we get to any of that, let's get to last
night's games, where ho hum the favorites one they did
(01:05):
so in mostly convincing fashion. You know, end of the
Warriors game got competitive, got closed, and of course stopped
me if you heard this before, But Steph Curry hit
a dagger three, and the Orlando Magic opened up a can,
especially in the fourth quarter on the Atlanta Hawks. They
(01:27):
outscored the Hawks by nineteen points in the fourth quarter
and advanced to the playoffs as they beat the Hawks
who finished their season.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Was it.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Forty and forty three? I guess do you count that game?
Do you not that count that game? Whatever it is.
Orlando goes in as the seventh seed, right, and they'll
take on the Celtics to actually split the season series
with the Celtics. Then there's something kind of weird to
the game where Trey Young got thrown out of the
(02:03):
game and then held out to the basketball and didn't
want to let the ref have it. Remember the Hawks
cut it to three with two thirty six to go
in the third quarter, only then fall apart in the
fourth quarter, and then of course they fell apart even
worse when Trey Young got thrown out. But again, this
is a hard one because if I'm honest, I'm a
(02:30):
big Tray Young fan. His dad. Ray Young is a
friend of mine. His dad was a competitor of mine
when he was at Texas Tech as their leaguing scorer
when we played him at Oklahoma State, and all we
could do is slow him down. We couldn't stop him.
And Trey Young the person. And this isn't just because
(02:50):
I'm friends with his dad or I've run into him
or whatever. I know people who know people, and they're
all like Trey Young's are really really good dude, like nice,
He's kind, thoughtful, respectful, like all of the things you
want in a human being. And his team is not
perfect or not even close to being perfect. Right, think
(03:13):
about what else they're throwing out there with, you know,
a highly touted rookie getting a start you got, you know,
Dyson Daniels is starting back there, and Yeka okong Wu
starting out there with him. It's not like they're throwing
out you know, the Miami Heat team which, oh yeah,
by the way, suddenly now Lebron James, the Miami Heat
(03:37):
team is no longer a Big three. I'm not sure
if you guys have heard that one that that's a
new one to me. But the point is that I
don't think he's surrounded by a great team. He has
been surrounded by better talent previously. But I think I
can say this, which is I love Treyon. The stats
are incredible, the passing is great. He's a phenomenal shooter
(04:01):
and an even better free throw shooter. But I just
think at some point you say he's not a player
that you can win big with consistently. I know they
got to an Eastern Conference finals a couple of years ago,
but you cannot take that one outlier as the normal expectations,
whereas this is much more in line of what your
(04:22):
expectators are, and you can say, hey, they took a
step back this year because they traded guys away, because
they hit refreshed, Like maybe, but at some point, and
I think we're at that point where you're the Hawks
and you go, this guy's the most popular Hawk we've had,
probably since Dominiquilkins, maybe even more so than Dominiquilkins. He's
(04:43):
an amazing talent, but kind of like Dominique, can you
actually win big with him? Can he actually win big
with him? It's like we'll say this about Jalen Brunson.
Can you win a title with Jalen Brunson. Maybe not,
but you can obviously consistently get in to the playoffs
and deeper in the playoffs with him as your best player,
whereas it doesn't appear that that's the case with tray Up.
(05:07):
And I'm not gonna lie to you and tell you
that I watch enough of the regular season to make
a cognitive thought about Okay, it's because of his defense,
it's because of the turnovers, which he only had two,
but it seemed like more. Whatever it is, Trey Young
played the most minutes forty, He scored twenty eight points,
(05:32):
he had six assists, he only had two turnovers, and
yet he had the biggest plus minus of the starters
is a minus twenty two. They were twenty two points
worse than the Orlando Magic when he was in the game.
Are Is that all the advanced stats and data you need?
No it is not. That is plus minus the only
stat that matters. No, it does not. No, it is not.
(05:54):
But there has been and will continue to be a
trend that tells you that year after year, the other
pieces may move around him, but for whatever reason in
this year you could make. It's an excuse, and it's
an explanation, not great pieces around him. You can't win
big with him when it actually matters. Do I think
(06:18):
it's to the defense. Some do. I think he holds
the ball a little bit too long trying to make
the assists passed. Some do I think it's just his
general build that he's never going to be able to
physically impose and dominate the game. Some a little bit remember,
And do I think the construction of the team is
part of the issue. Yes, I think that's some of
(06:39):
it as well, because if you watch, you know, everyone
wants to compare him to Steph Curry and some want
to compare him to a more offensive minded Steve Nash
in terms of scoring the basketball, but that type of vision.
But both of those guys, I know, Nat Nash never
won a title, but both were surmounted by rosters that
fit them. For Nash, you had a small ball roster,
(07:02):
but one made up of athletes everywhere right. Sean Marrion
played the four for them, Amari Stottameira was the five
that was a really really good wide open team. And
for the Warriors, if you watched last night, in the
second game, step will bring it up sometimes but often
like he's more dangerous when he doesn't have the ball.
Everybody has to be able to handle and oftentimes he'll
(07:23):
get an outlet pass, throw it to somebody and then
circle around and catch it back. You have to play
a specific style in order to get the best out
of Steph Curry, and maybe they haven't done that in Atlanta.
Again full disclosure, I, along with most of the world,
don't watch Hawks basketball on a regular basis. But I
do think he's really good. But it doesn't feel like
(07:44):
he's a winning player. And does that make g If
you're Atlanta, wave the flag maybe, or maybe you just say, hey,
he's super entertaining. People are still coming. It's exciting. He
puts up huge numbers. Lets lee then not lean out
and continue to try and build a club around him.
But man, they're going nowhere fast, nowhere fast. This is
(08:12):
the Doug Gottlieb Show. We're live here at the Tyraq
dot Com Studios. Okay, coming up next, Uh, what if
I told you that the treatment of Colorado Buffalo football
stars is akin to the treatment of our present. We'll
(08:32):
explain why next on The Doug Gotlieb Show. Thanks for
listening to The Doug Gotleb Show podcast. Be sure to
catch us Live every weekday three to five Eastern twelve
two Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station

or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app
by searching FSR. I'll give you an expression that they
(08:54):
use in the White House. And it's one of those
things where, let's just be honest, it's the most embart
thing we've ever seen. And I'll tell you what's embarrassing.
So there's a there's an expression they use in the
White House. It's a real thing. I know because my
friend worked for uh Donald President Trump in the in
the first in his first term in office, that they say,
(09:19):
you're either you're either at the table or you're on
the menu. You're either at the table or you're on
the menu. So when you watch these people come in
and just suck up to Donald Trump and like you're handsome,
you're slim, you're smart, you're amazing. Let me tell you
about how And you're like, wait, what what is did
(09:41):
they all take a pill? Like what what is it?
But it's the complete and utter blind allegiance that is
required in order to do business with the president, and yeah, listen,
I understand some of you voted for Trump and you're like, hey,
I'm I'm all in on this thing. It's great, that's fine.
You're allowed to. You're it's your vote, You're allowed to.
(10:02):
I'm also allowed to be a person who's honest and
says like this is how it actually works. And you
watch people and you're like, wait's what's wrong with this guy?
Mc gee? Again, even our vice president was harshly critical
of Donald Trump, and now he's like, you didn't even
say thank you? Have you said thank you to the president?
(10:22):
Have you? Like it's crazy over the top. But he's
not alone And by he, I mean Donald Trump is
not alone. I think that part is embarrassing. But I
think it's equally embarrassing. You know, lebron James, he wants
complete and loyalty. Nobody's allowed to actually say, hey, Bronnie
has a lot of work to do. Bronnie shouldn't have
(10:44):
been on any NBA roster. Bronnie should have played every
game with the G League team, not just some and
you know, started to travel late in the year. And
the same is true for Dion Sanders. Have you seen this.
They're going to retire, they retire they're two stars from
(11:04):
this past year jersey number at their spring game. Nonetheless,
Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders. Now, look, the reality is
that Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders did bring a lot
of great things with them, all right. They have brought positive,
(11:25):
mostly positive attention to Colorado, as has Deon Sanders and
Travis Hunter winning a Heistmo Trophy is huge, and retiring
his number is not a crazy thing. Doing it right
after he gets done playing. When let's not act like
they won ten games and then you're retiring Schador's number.
(11:49):
It seems a little soon, right, It seems like, yeah, yeah,
they just usually had something we do with like the
ten year, the fifteen to the twenty year anniversary, bring
it back and again. Part of it might be genius,
is like, hey, maybe this starts a new trend. Why
are we waiting so long to retire numbers so that
we don't remember the great times that those players who
(12:11):
had their number retired even played under It's like often
it's it's like, uh, you know, my head coach, Eddie Sutton,
he went into the Hall of Fame after he passed away,
Like why why do we he was a Hall of
Famer fifteen years ago, why not put him in the
Hall of Fame. So there may be a little genius
to it, but it feels more Trumpian in the if
(12:33):
you'll Dion Sanders re signed long term contractor remain in
Colorado EI, there is zero point zero percent doubt that.
As part of the discussions for Dion coming back was Hey,
you guys need to retire Schudor's number asap Rocky and
(12:57):
that is like, wait, you're not coming back unless you retire.
We retire that number and get Look. Colorado was like,
we were terrible, Now we're relevant. All we gotta do
is retire Shadore's number, pay him ten million dollars. We're
gonna make a bunch of money elsewhere if we have
him done. Easy doesn't mean it's the right thing to
(13:20):
do again. Same thing with the presidents, like does it matter?
Not really? You still kind of fight for the bills
that you want and whatever. But he literally will cut
you off and serve you for dinner. He does it
to Republicans, Democrats, people of other countries. It doesn't matter
if you don't kiss his his but if you're not
(13:43):
at the table you're on the menu. And he's not
the only one doing it. Lebron's doing it, Dion's doing it.
It is definitely a tread. But like they they just
got done, just got done playing football, and they were good.
(14:08):
They had a turnaround year after having a bad year
the year before. But they didn't win the Big Twelve,
they didn't play in the Big Twelve Championship. But they're good.
But that's not exactly the bar of retiring a number
immediately after finishing on the playing field. Thanks for listening

(14:56):
let's get let's get funky, shall we? I think we
should definitely get funky. As Mark Medina joins us, we
cueue up the funky Cool Medina music because the NBA
Playoffs are here. Maybe we don't, I'm not not not sure.
Come on, profet you gotta be sharper with the ones
and twos. You gotta know when there you go, crank
(15:18):
that stuff up. Yeah, Mark Medina is our guest. He's
our Fox Sports Radio NBA insider. Every every door he
walks into, they play this for him. Mark, we're a
(15:39):
couple of years in and now we're at day two
of the play in Tournament. How would you characterize how
this thing has gone over for the past couple of years.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
I think it resolves more problems than it creates. It's
not perfect. I am a traditionalist with the eight you know,
seed one through eight. You don't want to devalue the
amount of work it puts in. But I do think
it's made for some compelling games. I mean a lot
of them have involved in the Golden State Warriors. That's
always a radio strum. I think that as a completely
soft tanking. But you know the teams that were kind
(16:14):
of outside looking in, like the Dallas Mavericks or Sacramento Kings.
You've seen competitive teams. Now it's also established some extreme
tank and you know the teams that are clearly on
the out and out. You know Utah for example, they
just go all out with resting their guys. But I think,
you know, all things considered better better than what I thought.
(16:36):
But you know, I still am of that traditional mindset
that man seeds seeds one through six, that puts in
a lot more work to get a playoffs vote.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
I I'm not sure I can completely put my fingers
on it as to why, but it does feel like
we have enough data that the Eastern Conference finals appearance
was the outlier and the early its are more the norm.
At what point does Atlanta say, yeah, I mean Trey
Young is really really good and really productive, but we
(17:09):
just can't actually win playoff basketball against them.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, well, this is another example. I mean, they're a
playing team. It's even a surprise they made the play
and there's a good stretch where you thought that they
weren't going to make it the last few years. I
thought this would be the time that the Hawks pulled
the trigger. I want to be surprised they do that.
He has one year left on his contract, but I
will say they underachieved. But they do have a nucleus
(17:34):
around Trey that could work in theory. You know, look
at guys like Dyson Daniels and Zachary rustere Jalen Johnson.
These are all good players, but to your point, to
make it as a playing team, I think that they
have to cut their losses at some point. I just
don't know if the Hawks actually have that appetite to
do it. Understandably, they would expect a large haul in
(17:55):
return for Trey because he's such a great player. But
I think people around the league they like his talent,
but they don't quite a quite equate that as the
missing piece that will be instrumental toward a championship run.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
No, no, they do not. This is the Doug Gottlieb
Show on Fox Sports Radio. Last week, I hypothesized that
there would be eleven coaching jobs open. That's or tens
coaching jobs open. I felt like I knew Mike Bunholz
was one of them. But again, here we are, three years,
(18:28):
three different coaches. What next for the Suns.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Yeah, it's the same old story with the songs because
they got rid of Frank Vogel last year. You know,
knowing how mad Aeshpia is, where he's repeatedly said we're
not doing rebuilding all this stuff, I'm sure that he's
going to go after the low hanging fruit of two
accomplished head coaches that just got fired before the playoffs
with Michael Malone and Taylor Jenkins. So if I'm those coaches, like,
(18:54):
why would I go to the songs? They've been in
the dumpster fire. They can ride this out. They're going
to have a lot of inter elsewhere, whether it's this
summer or if they want to take a sabbatical. So
I think that they may have to move the goalpost
here where they look at some good assistant coaches like
Terry Stotts in Golden State. He's a former head coach
in Cleveland. Good offensive mine. Chris Quinn is very respected
(19:16):
with the Miami Heat, and his role in Eric Spullstar's
coaching staff has increased over the years. I think the
challenge here, Doug, as you know, it's it's not coaching,
it's it's roster construction and depth and availability. And I
don't individually put much blame on Kevin Durant or Devin
Booker because of how great they've been as players, but
(19:38):
the rest of the roster formula hasn't worked. As you know,
the Bradley Beal contracts a disaster, even though they've had
some good veteran role players. Okay, like a Tias Jones
at Grayson Allen. They don't move the needle. So I
think at this point, Doug like, they got to tear
it down. They got to make the tough decision to
trade Devin Booker even though he hasn't fundamentally done anything wrong.
(20:00):
Clearly the role of win now hasn't worked, so they
got to pivot elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Yeah, they clearly have to pivot elsewhere. Okay, some other
interesting things in the NBA. What do the Sixers do
this offseason?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Yeah, that is a good question. I mean, hope and
pray that the lottery ping pong balls bounce their way
and they can get in the Cooper Flag sweepstakes. But
I don't think they'll do this because they have star players.
But they really have to consider breaking that down as well.
Because Joel Embiide's injury history is his injury history. Uh,
(20:38):
you know, even for those that talk about, hey, he's
trying to do the right things, he just can't stay healthy.
Availabilities the key thing. And when you're looking at what
happened with his injury where he needs arthroscopic surgery on
his knee, there's a lot of concern among doctors. I
talked to you, not with the Sixers, just getting their
expertise that you know what, it might be the same
story next season. That you know, he comes back, he's
(21:00):
automateous restriction, he's not really available. He'll produce, you know,
at somewhat all star caliber level, but then he gets
hurt again. And you look at Paul George not as
a severe injury, but his injury history isn't that good either,
So it doesn't seem like it's a one in formula.
But I would be surprised that they, you know, blow
(21:22):
it up. I think that they're going to be in
the mind okay, we have an early offseason that they're
going to have time to fully recover and then just
hope that that helps. But I have my skepticism about though.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Stut Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Nico Harrison
had a meeting with media, but they didn't allow recordings,
they didn't allow videos, and he said he had no
regrets for it, kind of a way to we're healthy
and take a look. What was your reaction now he
(21:53):
handled it?
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Yeah, I don't think it was handled well at all.
I mean, Nico Harrison hasn't really talked to my since
the trade beyond the short press conference. But I think,
you know, even though it was a long press conference,
his answers don't make any sense. I mean, it was
very dismissive about the fan reaction and the team staffers
that were also let go, dismissive of the criticism that
(22:16):
Turk Novitski's pet old Mark Cuban. And again you and
I have had this conversation, Doug, that Anthony Davis he's
a great player. We understand, you know that he's a
much different player than people give him credit for about
being dominant, you know, both ends of the floor, being
more available, but he didn't really answer money questions about
you know, why couldn't he have gotten a bigger haul,
(22:37):
And you know, he keeps going back to defense. Wins championships,
they're respectable defensive team. Last season still wasn't enough to
be Boston. So I feel like, on one hand, he
needs to be more available and own this. But on
the other hand, when he has spoken, it seems like
multiple times he's put his foot in his mouth.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
He definitely has it is the Doug Gotlig Show here
live on Fock Sports Radio. Uh Mark Medeena is our
Fox Sports Radio NBA insider. Let's get to Lebron James.
A bunch of interesting parts about Lebron. Now he's making
Now he's allowing TV curse commercials to make fun of
the fact that he doesn't read the books. That I
(23:18):
thought that was genius. But I'm like, wow, he had to.
He definitely had to. Okay that one.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Huh Yeah, next commercial might be uh the Godfather references
and there's way too many to cite.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Let's say if he cones it on that joke too.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
What what signifies a successful postseason for the Lakers?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Yeah, good question. I mean, obviously it's the Lakers, so
they're always gonna win a championship. But I didn't think
they could have an outside shot catch laying in a bottle.
But I still think it's gonna be Thunder. Okay, yeah,
Thunder Cleveland. I think it's boss assuming health is fine.
So I think what's successful if they at least get
the second round and if they lose, whether it's the
(24:02):
second round or beyond. Not so much that they lose,
but how they lose that gives them optimism that hey,
it's a few tweeks here or there in the off season,
with supporting cast, they then can be a championship contender
next season. So what that looks like, Lebron James got
to be healthy. Lebron and Luca have to play really well.
You have to see the best versions of them. You
have to see a respectable Austin Reeves, a good bench,
(24:25):
you know. But as far as their defense goes, that's
what's got them to that number three spot that they've
overachieved ever since the Anthony Davis trade. You know. JJ
Reddick credits Lebron's leaderships of all sorts, even though in
past years he didn't play defense much much better engagement
this year, Jackson Hayes has raised the game to another level.
Jared Vanderbilt's finally healthy, all out effort with these small
(24:46):
ball lineups. But I don't think it's enough to be
sustainable in the playoffs. So what I'm getting at is,
as long as the other things I mentioned are pretty good,
I think that would be a successful offseason. As long
as fescil playoffs. As long as it's enough to at
least get to the second round.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
That that would be. That would be fascinating. What about
Oklahoma City. How much pressure is on the Thunder to
actually fulfill their regular season promise and get to the
NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
There's going to be pressure because they got number one seed.
I think Shay Gilders Alexander is going to win the MVP.
You know, they came up short of the playoffs last year.
But I think again, if the Celtics win the championship,
I don't think it's a failed season. It's going to
be more about how did how do they look in
the finals. They have to get to the finals that way,
so they don't get out of the West. That's a
(25:37):
disappointing season. And then how how did they faire against Boston?
Was it competitive? That's successful? But Doug, as you know,
in the NBA, the minute that you think, okay, we
have a wide open window and you have a young
nucleus take time, all of a sudden it shuts and
so you don't want to squander these kind of opportunities. So,
you know, much different conversation than it is with the Lakers.
(25:58):
They have to advance at least the NBA Finals, and
they at least have to show in the NBA Finals
if they do lose that there's reasonable optimism that they
are then the favorites next season, because I think with
Boston their window is this year, and even though they
have their nucleus back, they're going to be a year older,
and Cleveland's going to be a lot more dominant where
(26:19):
it's going to be between Cleveland and Oklahoma City next year.
So a lot of that does predicate though, on how
both teams fare against Boston this year's playoffs.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
What happens to Denver in the offseason.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Your guests as good as mine. Obviously, they got to
get a head coach. I mean, David Adaman's very respected,
you know, being on the staff son of Rick Adelman,
knows the system, but I would think that they have
a wide open search, maybe Taylor Jenkins takes the job.
They also have to make sure that Nikole jokicch is
fine with where the direction is. I mean, he hasn't
given signals that he wants out, but the way things
(26:55):
have been handled here, you don't want to take Nikole
Jokicic's greatness and his primeiers for granted. So I think
it's really about they're not going to make a deep
playoff push, and so one of the reasons why I
had issue with this firing was it happened just before
the playoffs, and I don't think it's going to help
their postseason run. But as long as they don't lose
an embarrassing fashion to the Clippers, I think that they
(27:18):
can sell. Okay, it's about re staying the roster, trying
to find the right coach to make sure that there's
no scenario that Nicole Yokch all of a sudden doesn't
want to be there.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Mark Medina cue that music, shall we can? We can
we get him to get him out the way we
brought him in. He's Fox Sports Radio NBA Insider. You

Speaker 3 (27:45):
I would argue, this is like the kind of intro
reception is the complete opposite of the fans from Dallas
given a Nico. So I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
This is game time, Sig on the Doug Gottlieb show.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
H what do you got? There is a loan crun
all right.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Doug on this Wednesday, our game is for better or worse?
Speaker 4 (29:42):
All right, We'll start it off right in your wheelhouse. Man.
I'm pining caffeine right now. Anyway, NBA Playoffs with the
Warriors winning their playing game yesterday better or worse in
the opening round matchup the Warriors forty eight and thirty
four during the regular season or the Houston Rockets four
games better at fifty two and thirty better or worse
(30:05):
Warriors or Rockets, correct, Warriors, that didn't take long.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
And no, I mean they've done it in the playoff.
I mean, look at all the guys that have done
in the playoffs. And as much as Houston as the
youth and athletics is some probably an overall better roster. Again.
Steph Curry just won the Olympics with four straight threes.
He just won last night with a huge dagger three
like the dude has closed NBA finals and Olympic Olympic
gold medal games out. The Rockets have none of that.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
So in other words, Nope, you know what, I'm going
to hold off on the obvious Who's Houston? You have
a problem, pun and move on to our next time.
Him Oh, this is interesting for better or worse NBA
playoffs or the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Well, look, I know Stanley Cup hockey guy is gonna
be like it's like nib hy nib football rules. There's
nothing better than playoffs over time, hawky. But I you know,
I need name tags on all these guys. I don't
know any of them. So NBA playoffs, NBA playoffs are
(31:16):
really good, really good. You can we get in fine
fall with NBA regular season and they'll be mismatched games
in the playoffs, maybe Mitch Match series, but generally NBA
playoffs more than anything because of name recognition, than anything else,
is exciting. There's nothing like when they win the Stanley
Cup and they skate around with the cup and all
the ceremonial stuff that they have. But let's not act
(31:37):
like it's top of mind, like we know anything about
the sport or anybody who's playing the sport.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
I may have to check you out of the boards
on that one. All right, Next item, Travis Hunter the
wide receiver or Travis Hunter the defensive back.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Travis Hunder the defensive back is better than Travis Hunter
the wide receiver is worse. So, yeah, he wants to
play both ways. But as we discussed, I think most
people have said, like, you're gonna give him a package
of offensive plays. Other than that, he's gonna be a
defensive player and should be a tremendous defensive back for
a long time in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
Staying in the NFL for better or worse? Russell Wilson or.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Aaron Rodgers, uh for for next year? For career? What
is the what is for better or for worse? Boy?
Speaker 4 (32:28):
I think we've got enough time for you to address
those separately. I think for career it's pretty obvious.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
But also Aaron, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers, I don't know
if he'll play, but Aaron Rodgers and Russell we've We've
seen Russell Wilson over the last four seasons stink in
three different locations, So there's no reason to believe that
he won't stink those reasons, he won't stink even worse
(32:54):
a year older with the New York Football Giants.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Wrong, That's at least we'll always have that Giants country.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Let's right, Broncos Country. Let's fry Saylor's Country.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
That's right, gift that just keeps on giving. All right?
Onto Baseball country, that's right, North Carolina State Country.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Let's ride all right baseball?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
For Better or Worse? Dodgers or Podres?
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Uh, Dodgers are Padres Dodgers Dodgers? Okay, Padres a thoroughly unlikable,
likable bunch.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
I can't disagree with you there, I'm afraid.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
Our final item on this edition of for Better or
Worse Sign of the Times in the pop culture sphere
Doug better or Worse? Coachella or Stage Coach.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
I don't think anybody would not say Stage Coach. Listen.
Coachella is yeah. I mean, look, Coachelle kind of jumped
the shark. I was, so, I've never been to either.
My daughter goes to Stage Coach every year, and she doesn't.
She feels like it's more hookup fest than drunk drug fest,
(34:28):
which is kind of what Coachella. Coachella is like more
contemporary burning Man. Hey.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Either way, that's a that's an encouraging thing for a
parent to hear, you know.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Yeah, No, it's fine. I mean, she's she's she's nineteen,
she's a big girl. She can handle herself. Yeah, I mean,
but again, the problem with Coachella is one half the artist.
I don't know who they are. Now, there's some of
that at at Stage Coach. Stage Coach usually has the
best of the best. I just think it's a better environment.
(34:59):
I'm gonna go stage Coach. Okay.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
I just want to explore this in a couple of ways.
First of all, and usually I always try and be
overly humorous around here, but this is actually a legitimate question.
What did your daughter think about the logistics of going
to stage Coach? Because I've been I've been to that
location for other reasons, and I just think the whole parking,
(35:23):
walking around, traffic, the logistics have got got to be
a nightmare.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I mean, did she was she Would you like to
have her on the show? We could have her on
the show later on. She's at the at the National
Champions for Collegiate Writing. If you like, if you'd like that,
but she's I can ask her, I loo, I don't
in quizz her. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Okay, No, just just an interesting question because.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
She's gone with her mom and just a bunch of
girls and they rent a house and that's what they've
done like the last couple of years.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Because the person the person who actually you're a big
Chargers guy. So the person who actually taught me the
difference between Coachella and Stage Coach was Chargers place. Cameron Dicker,
by the way, so.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
Ick or the Kicker.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Yes, he would also prioritize, like you stage Coach over Coachella.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
And it's like I took my son to Rolling Loud
at Sofi, which is a big rap festival whatever, and
apparently like the rolling part is the weed festival whatever.
Oh and at Stadium, yes, And I was like, hey,
do you I was like, you like country music? He's
like yeah, of course, He's like, but I like this
more like I get it. I get it. But I'm
(36:31):
just gonna tell you that there's a bunch of dudes here,
like you need to go to the concert where the
women are right. That's at Stagecoach, Stage Coach Boy, Stage
coach Boys, the good Luck a women go to the
country concerts.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Just telling you, you know what, Doug, I wish I
would have had this conversation with you in my twenties,
and I'll leave it at that. But I did not
know about this rolling Okay. So it looks like Rolling
Loud is not inside Sofi Stadium.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
It's grounds.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Okay, it already took place, but on the grounds, not
in the stadium. Correct, Okay, correct. So Sean McVay is
not going to walk in there in August and say,
what's that smell before a preseason game? Okay?
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Just he may he may say it, but again, it
won't be It won't be from.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Rolling It won't be because of Rolling Loud. Well as
I mark my calendar for Rolling Loud twenty twenty six.
On that note, we will end this culturally intellectually stimulating
edition of For Better or Worse.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Game.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show, It's Fox Sports Radio. It's
coming to you from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
We got a great midway for you, Ryan. I I
love this idea. Okay, here's what they're going to do,
and then tell me if I got this wrong. It's
the even You don't have to be an old man
(37:57):
to do the old man, Get off my lawn. But
for our mid Way you're gonna we're all gonna get
our old man get off my lawn moments. Is that right?
Speaker 2 (38:04):
That's that's right, and we're gonna let out the takes
that don't really impact you any sort of negative way.
You're just you're just stubborn and damn it, you want
it your way.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yeah. I think people get the premise of it. Yeah, yes, yeah, right, yeah,
I mean, profet you you get that. You understand that.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
The press absolutely absolutely, there's there's like a sweet spot.
I think you know. I am now in my late
thirties and it has absolutely started to roll in.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Yeah again, thirties is not forties, and forties is not fifties.
But all right, so here's we're gonna do coming up next.
We're gonnat of the Midway man, and you guys can
think of your own. We'll think of our own as well,
and we'll try and keep it to sports, although we
know it'll devolve away from sports. Okay, The old man,
get off my lawn statements are things that you know.
There's you just want it the way you want it
(38:55):
because that's the way it's always been, and damn it,
that's the way I want it to always be. Does
that makes sense? I just I just came up with
that one. You want it the way you want it
because that's the way it's always been, and that's the
way you always want it to be. Fair Enough, all right,
we'll get to that up coming next to the Doug
Gotlib Show, Fox Sports Radio.
