Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio Coming to you from

(00:22):
uh yeah from Aaron Hills. Sorry yeah, buyer's work. Buyer's
doing something else so he can't hear me. Played eighteen
glorious salsa gov today at Aaron Hills as they get
ready for the US Women's Open. My thanks to the
men and women of the USGA who've made and the
LPGA made me feel so comfortable today anyway. Thanks. NBA

(00:47):
playoffs are taking place and they've been really, really good.
We talked about the Thunder and their collapse against the
Nuggets last night. Now, let's let's be equal opportunity, right,
just like on TV or if you're supposed to do
an equal amount of time on the Republicans, you do
the Democrats. Hey, we're not just gonna do West, We'll
do East as well. The Knicks are down twenty and

(01:08):
they come back and steal game one. The Celtics missed
what forty five threes? Forty five threes last night. Here's
Joe Missoula when he was asked about the shot selection.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Were you satisfied with the shot selection in that second half?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, I mean, I think for the most part, obviously,
and over the course of the game, you always can find,
you know, five to ten shots that you want to
be better at. But I thought throughout the night for
the most part, we fought for good looks, you know,
throughout the game. But yeah, I mean, you can find
five to ten that it could be better at, you.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Know, one of the big keys. And it did feel
like there was whether the Celtics tired and that's why
they're missing shots. But I mean, you know, Jalen Brown
won for ten, Jason Tatum four of fifteen and Derek
White five o sixteen. You know, one of the things
that happens is we think of analytics as just well,

(02:06):
all they do is shoot threes. Look, you're supposed to
shoot threes. You're supposed to get layups, you're supposed to
get to the free throw line. Right, That's that's the
big key. And the nixt Though they shot terribly from
the free throw line, they got to it more often

(02:26):
and they also got to the rim more often, and
I thought that was a huge part of their of
their win. Right, they shot a higher percentage of three
on on way fewer attempts. They actually made more threes
than the Celtics did, despite the fact they took what

(02:46):
was it twenty three less threes. That's crazy, right, they
were seventeen of thirty seven. The Knicks were fifteen of sixty.
That that's the most insane stat there is. But the
two things that you need to know are it's not
just about volume of threes, it's about quality of three,
which I thought that's why it was a really good
question that was asked, because there's actually an analytical stat

(03:10):
you know, on shot quality. I'd be interested to see
what their shot quality was didn't feel like was great
at times. And then their inability to consistently get to
the free throw line despite being at home and playing
with the lead. You have a lead, you know you've
got a control, pace, control temple, and get to the
foul line and make it just a constant march to
the line, not just settle and they settled, but it

(03:33):
doesn't feel like there should be any time to panic.
Here's Jalen Brunson, ever, the hero, when he was asked
about the number of three pointers to Celtics missed.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I mean, they still got a lot of threes up,
so it's on us to limit their attempts. But I
think for the most where it made them tough. They
had a lot of easy looks that they were thankful
that they missed. But I continue to make it tough,
and you just don't know when they're going to be
able to knock them down because they also I think

(04:06):
at the beginning of the year almost had a record
on us shooting sixty threes so long. I mean, you
gotta be better at that aspect and not let them
shoot as much. And now they can let them get
the open charts.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio.
I just again, I understand that it's about the Celtics
twenty point lead in the collapse, and the numbers tell
you when you're up twenty it's like a ninety six
percent chance you win the game. But I do also
think that there's there are other layers to this story,

(04:42):
right there are there's there. I think the Jalen Brunson
layer to it is continues to be amazing, right. I mean,
he didn't shoot a great percentage last night from the field.
Did from three, got to the free throw line, and
I thought that runner or the shot at the end

(05:04):
of regulation, I thought that was in. There's thought I
was in. I was one of those how did that
not go in? On that? On the ob But you
also see that as much as Carl Carl Towns gets
a lot of grief for shooting shooting threes and being soft,
like I thought, he rebounded his tail off last night.
Now some of the rebounds are a little bit easier
because the Celtics are taking threes and playing five out

(05:25):
and they're getting back in transition. But he did do
a good job of corral in the basketball and then
Duce McBride gave him a big lift off off the bench.
Big lift off the bench. But down twenty, coming back,
I do feel like it was more about the Celtics
than it was about the Knicks, because the Celtics just

(05:46):
kind of kept taking bad shots where you're just thinking,
get to the free thom line, get in a lane,
playoff two they're gonna give you some calls and this
thing is kind of easy byer. What's your takeaway watching
Knick Celtics.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, it was interesting, Doug, because I watched the game
in a different way, and by that, I mean I
had some yard work to do, so while it was
still daylight for us out of the West Coast, I
was able to do some yard work and recorded the game.
Came in fourth quarter, it's a ballgame, and hear all
about the Knicks coming back from this deficit. I recorded

(06:26):
the game. So then I watched the first three quarters
knowing what would happen at the end. And I'm actually
glad that I did that because I just felt Boston
played with their food in the third quarter, like when
they got up twenty, they exchanged a couple of threes
back and forth, and then it felt like Boston was
just there to be like, all right, yeah, we'll play
along with this. And the next thing, you know, and

(06:48):
the Knicks went on like a seven to nothing run
made it thirteen. Then it was maybe back up to
fifteen and seventeen, then it was within eight, and then
all of a sudden, now end of the third quarter
and fourth quarter, it's like, yeah, okay, we got a
we got a ball game now, you know, or at
least you know as you enter that fourth quarter. And
that's that's why I feel like Boston, if you lock in,

(07:10):
they should be all right. And I think a lot
of people feel that way. But it almost dug. It
felt like they kind of just got bored, you know,
in a way, and so like, we'll just chuck up threes,
it's what we do. Weren't necessarily getting great stops. Actually
give them, give them credit because remember the Knicks took
a lead late, so Boston at least fought back to

(07:31):
try to force the overtime. And you mentioned the Brunson miss,
but it they didn't. They didn't have it in overtime.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Nicks guy, great, I think it over scored five points
in overtime.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, it was. It was weird. It was just like
you think that they could turn it on, but now
they stopped playing. Porzingis is sick. Sam Housard, you know,
twisted his ankle. Curious on how that plays out, But yeah,
I think Boston, Boston should have won last night. The
Knicks didn't quit. It just felt like Boston was just
not going through the motions, but playing with their food

(08:00):
was the best way that I could put it.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I love that expression. I agree with you. I agree
with you, Sam. Do I sound like the world's oldest
band with the uniform thing? I just I don't know
what it is.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
It's like, it's no, I agree with you. Like I'll
give you an example. Iowa State rival Iowa they have
like adopted black, like these black uniforms as like there,
and I'm like, yeah, your colors are red and yellow,
like stick with it.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
They look good. So like, I don't like.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Teams going to the gray alternate of the black alternate,
and I don't like the constant changing like stick with
your colors, especially like you said in the playoffs, it's
it's important to drill down on your your longtime identity.
So no, you don't.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Celtics in the Knicks. It feels like Sunday afternoon on NBC,
doesn't it? Or and honestly, if you're old enough on
CBS on CBS Celtics and Knicks though they feel like
we talked about yesterday, the NBC got Roundball Rock back
because they get the NBA back next year. Although you know,

(09:07):
I'm always interested to see who they're hiring, and saw
who Amazon hired. They did not hire a coach. I
always thought, I always think that's that's gonna be needed here.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
You want to know my experience of Celtics Knicks. Yeah,
it's funny because we're the same age, but I have
a like a different experience, Like I think of like
the late eighties. Yeah, and I don't think of the
Knicks like the Bucks were. The Bucks were competitive at
that point, but they were like four or five seed,
and the Bucks would they'd either like beat the Hawks,
or they beat the Sixers and then they'd lose to
Boston in like this next round, or they would should

(09:41):
be loose to one of those teams that you would
have those like I never considered the next effector until
early nineties. Bucks were then kind of out of the
picture then and then it's Bulls, Pistons, Pacers. Like it's
weird because I don't remember tons of them.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Forget the Sixers look eighty you're right, okay, but the
eighties you're forgetting they had the Bernard there was there
was when Bernard King came back from the knee injury.
Was they weren't they weren't great until and then when
they they had when they had pat Ewing, they were

(10:18):
part of those that also ran. And then when Jordan retired,
then all of a sudden they became kind of a threat. Sure, right,
but it was it was in the East. It was
Celtics and Sixers, and then though there was a litany
of kind of like there's been in the West for
the last fifteen years. Right, You forget the Calves. We

(10:39):
had Brad Doherty, they had Ron Harper, they had Craig Elow,
they had Mark Price, of course, and they could never
get past the bulls.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, and you're you're entirely right. It's just like how
like in my view, you know, like how like who
was what you know at that point? And no that
the Knicks and I've now got the next seasons in
front of me. They played the Celtics in eighty eight
in the playoffs. They played them in nineteen ninety in

(11:12):
the playoffs, both in first round series. Rick Fatino being
the coach in eighty eight with your boy Mark Jackson
Rookie of the year, as it says, in front of me,
but never put them in like in that picture you know,
of competing with the best in the East until the
Celtics kind of fell off, and then it was I
felt like their rise in like the early ninet or

(11:34):
nineties with pat Riley and whatnot. It's just it's you're
you're absolutely right. It's just my view of how the
Eastern Conference was at that time.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
It's the Dog Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. Your listeners now,
but Joy can see us. Hey, Hi, Hi, No, our
show's not streamed live yet yet, but that's a big yawn. Dan,
you're gonna make me on. You're gonna make me on. Damn, Like,
look right, the camera made me on. Why doesn't your

(12:18):
guy's camera work? Is there is there a reason? Can
I get? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:21):
I mean I get clarify? Or does Jason and Sam
do you wanna do you want to clarify the Doug
or should I?

Speaker 7 (12:28):
No?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Go ahead? Okay, they don't have cameras, Doug. That's why
they have zero cameras in front of them. I have one.
I actually can't where my camera is I can look
into the camera and see you, but you are actually
behind me on a computer, behind me running. We also
aren't streaming live on YouTube, but this is an opportunity
for you to see me, know when I'm available, when

(12:49):
I'm when I'm not available, and also if we have
a back and forth that they repurpose for social media purposes,
I can be on camera as well. So those are
those a variety of reasons. But that's why you can't
see Jason and Sam because they don't have cameras in
front of them.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Well, we need to get that eradicating, because it's so
much better. And then again, what Dan is saying is true.
We're not streamed on YouTube, but are the highlights of
this show are correct and other shows as well. So
just type in Fox Sports Radio, check out the Fox
Sports Radio YouTube channel and you can check us out.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Doug, it sounds like you're a little remorseful about that.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
About what which part about.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Not having cameras for us are a little remorseful?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Why would it be? Oh, oh, it is a terrible segue.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I tried, you did try, you did.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
What we basically do is the podcast we have. You're
annoying which is for Jason Stewart to bitch and fetch
over all the things and people on earth that annoy him.
So we built these kind of built in segments really
for guys to kind of vent, which is why we

(14:00):
created Buyer's Remorse. So Dan, who's mostly almost always right,
repents for his sins of being wrong. Let's get to it.

Speaker 6 (14:12):
Some have remorse.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior.
I engage.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Come on, but there's nothing quite like Buyer's Remorse.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
What are your remotional for Dan? Doug?

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Almost twenty four hours ago on this program, I think
I ended the Monday Show with you as you were
signing off as saying I like the Thunder Big. Now
not only did I like the Thunder Big, I actually
like the Celtics Big. Maybe I like the Calves Big.
I thought they're especially with the Thunder and Nuggets Nuggets

(14:46):
coming off of that seven game series with the Clippers.
It was a short turnaround thee they played saturdayfl.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
You're not illogical, Yeah, so sports is iluch.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
I am ozero for three. And if you think I'm
gonna learn from my way, no I'm not. I'm not
even gonna save it for the end of the show.
Timberwolves big tonight over the Warriors. That's what we've got
in game one of their series. I know they're there.
There's some people that say, why don't you learn from
your mistakes? I think Minnesota. I think Minnesota actually takes

(15:17):
this series, not with ease, but I think we'll see
them in the Western Conference Finals again. But I like
the t Wolves tonight, But I just completely misread these
three game ones that we were all upsets.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Maybe you're dyslexic in your reading.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I would feel bad about the Pacers. Maybe maybe that's
the case, Doug, but you can't deny what they can
do offensively. And I know Tyre's Halliburton is the most
overrated player in that anonymous poll that was done. Like
I get it, and I understand it, but gosh, he
does make plays and he can't get to the basket.

(15:50):
And as much as I want to write them off
and dismiss them, and saying that I did, I didn't
right back, they didn't get right back, still doesn't make
any sense. And they have a good time.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Jason, you know, Jason's sitting there going that was funny,
And it still doesn't make any sense, just like.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
You, they have a chance to go up too well,
because Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, DeAndre Hunter all in serious
question of whether they're going to be able to play tonight. Yeah.
I have not believed in the road teams early in
these conference semi finals. Okay, I know we've got Ryan
Hollins coming up in a little bit, but I did

(16:26):
Ryan and I did a show on Saturday, so.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
You know he's you to talk about.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Well, I mean, obviously they'll have a take on the
Rockets and Warriors is a big topic of conversation, so
I'm sure you'll dive into that and the rest of
the series as well. Just those Game sevens are tough
to win. They really are.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
They are tough. They are tough to win. Anything else, Nope,
that's it, all right, good and that's byers from Stug
gott Leap Show here on Fox Sports Radio. For over
forty years, Tyrek has been helping customers find the right
tires for how what, where they drive shit fast and
free back by free road as a protection with convenient
installation options like mobile tires. It's direct dot com the
way tire buying should be. Let's welcome in, Ryan Holmes.

(17:04):
Ten youre NBA VET, Fox Sports Radio NBA analysts, also
the Houston Rockets game analyst on TV, and uh, let's
let's dial back to Game seven. Rockets come up short
against the Warriors. They did such a great job bottling
up Steph Curry for the first I don't know two
thirds of the game. If if EMA was to call

(17:25):
you in and say, hey, what would we do wrong?
What would you say?

Speaker 7 (17:31):
And frankly, I thought our guys lost their identity. Uh.
And I think the reason I say that is we
have a group that's stiff, that doesn't mind getting up
to the edge and not necessarily going over. And I

(17:55):
do believe that Houston was the better team. But at
the end of the day, when experience outweighs your talent,
that experience one. And I think where you kind of
nick gate experience is with the chippy and emotional hard play.

(18:15):
And I think our guys almost got too locked into
just saying just play basketball. And that sounds crazy to say, Doug,
But our guys play their best when they're at the edge,
when they're right there. So that's all I can say.
And I think our group did a great job looking
to clean things up, But I didn't feel like it

(18:38):
was what we were used to sing when Houston is
at their best.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Why do you think they wanted to just my best.
They didn't want to get caught up in the Draymond
Green thing and the Jimmy Butler thing, and so guys
like just like, well.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
You know, at the end of the day, when it
comes out of basketball, and let's say you you you know,
you play this match a couple of times, and our
young guys get used to the experience. You know, you
saw flat where it's like, Okay, this is the better
team and if you get Jalen Green going and you're
shooting well, you know, it wouldn't be necessarily a contest.
But there's that deer in the headlights look that you

(19:11):
probably saw three times in this series, Game one, probably
Game three, the first one on the road, and the
last one you see in game seven, because those are
all completely different games to be played. So I think
the mindset was from game five and six, the experience
there and then going, oh man, this is a different animal.
And the emotional side is what Houston has been able

(19:32):
to ride with and a lot of times when the
games get chippy, there's an altercation, there's a little bumping
and bruising going on. The group has played well, so
I do understand it. Definitely with the focus in the
NBA definitely came in and played things and called things
a whole lot tighter as the series went on.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Ryan Hollins is our guest here on the Doug Gottlieb
Show on Fox Sports Radio. It's very easy to look.
The Celtics said they shot too many threes. You know,
old guys just kind of yelling into the wind. But
when you have a twenty point lead, you gotta be
getting the free throw line right. You got to wear
people out. And it did feel like I thought Dan

(20:14):
Byer said it best, and I know you guys were together.
Did feel like they played with their food some last night.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Absolutely, you know when you're twenty and from seeing Boston man,
they're so talented. But here's the reality that goes on.
Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. You know when you get
him the crunch and I play with the Dirks and
the kg's and Paul Pierce was our guy, and you
have a legit closer, you put the ball in their

(20:42):
hands and they make a play. Now, Jalen Brunson was
the electric I mean, he made plays. I don't know
how they didn't go and trapped him to go get
the ball out of his hands and bullets him and
Pitt me roll situation and just try to make somebody
else beat you at that point. But he was unbelievable.
And it's really hard to maybe say that you're gonna

(21:02):
see that type of outing in the next game. And
it's funny. Everybody's going, you know, just adjust, adjust, Doug.
You know, obviously you don't want to lose, not at home,
but those real adjustments don't come until later in the series. Now,
I don't think definitely we all know all is not
lost there with Boston, but I would have liked to
see Stayson Satom or Jaylen Brown really get their group

(21:26):
back in it down the stretch and and make big plays.
And you got money, guys, and you're one of those guys.
That's where the expectations are.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, what'd
you think about the thunder? And I mean, again, we
can make the Nuggets, so we can make it, but
the thunder. But the Thunder their decision to foul early
with like ten seconds ago.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
Yeah, it was intriguing. You can get Yo Kic back
in the game. I thought in the situation, Sga, instead
of taking the time out and he's an excellent free
throw shooter, he goes and takes the dunk, and I
thought that he should have kind of like took some
time off the game. I thought that was a kind

(22:13):
of really a Misschi and Dub I think we talked
about it. I've been scared to the death of the
Nuggets as the season is just winding down, and I
thought that series, and I know James a lot of
flack right now, but I thought the winner of that
series had a real potential to come off the West

(22:33):
because how good those two two teams were playing at
the end of the day. And what's scary is you're
seeing this kind of backs against the wall motivated mentality
over there in Denver, and you know, you know, you
get some quality minutes from Russell Westbrook on everything that
they're doing, and they're believing and really galvanizing together, and

(22:53):
you go on the road, man, and that's a group
that you got to be scared of. You know, at
the end of the day.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
I know how you feel about Houston and Fiel are
a better team than Golden State, Well, how do you
feel about Minnesota versus Golden State?

Speaker 7 (23:13):
Like Minnesota, Golden State's can beat up and emotionally you
can push past the game seven or one game scenario
and they're They're unbelievable defensively. But I don't think they
have enough top to bottom. I think there's too many, uh,
you know, too many holes in that roster. You know,

(23:34):
they kind of they got one way guys in Golden State. Uh,
they got guys who can score it or guys who
can defend. They don't really have both, and Minnesota has both. Uh.
Anthony Edwards playing just about it as better off anyone,
best as anyone right now in the world. Right now,
you could argue he's a top five player with with
what we've seen. But for Golden State and I will

(23:56):
get you got to give Houston a lot of credit.
Houston guarded Steph Purry probably the best he's been guarded,
daring near in his career in that last series. But
the amount of detail and the tension that was put,
I don't know if Chris fin So to have the discipline,
So I do expect Curry to score more, but top
to bottom, I don't know if they have enough. And
keep an eye on Draymond. Not that I'm going to

(24:18):
complain for him to be kicked out or all that.
Let's playoff basketball, right, We're beyond that. But Draymond is
so smart that when the tide starts to turn, or
he thinks his team needs a little bit more, he'll
make one of those plays to kind of get his
guys charged up and throw the other team at rhythm
a little bit. Absolutely, I saw for seven games.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Dude, Absolutely, yeah, No, there's there's a genius to it.
There's absolutely kind of a gested. No one does the
uh accident, the accidental on purpose better than him. Just no,
I've never seen anybody do the accident pose. It's it's
it's like he's urgent Tian right like verre Blader National

(25:01):
baskets like like that. Dude didn't mean to but you
just can't the guy right in the nuts? What are you?
What are you even talking about?

Speaker 7 (25:09):
He's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Uh are the Calves in trouble? I know it's was
just one game, but Garland's got.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
Yes, yes, yes, yeah, I mean that's Dan birthday. Buy
rat Okay, I know he's somewhere. I've been telling you.
Indiana's for real, dude. He we not act like they
didn't play in the Eastern Pnference finals last year. I
know there's injuries people can talk about. Listen, man, they
moved to basketball, they play fast, They've been war tested

(25:38):
last year. Brick Carlow is a top five coach in
the NBA. I played for Rick. He can draw the
x's and o's. He can take you out of stuff
that you want to do, and if you're a one
trick pony, he'll find it out. You see that success
he had in that championship against Lebron James. He forced
Lebron to be better. And while the Calves are so
much better, I think the Calves like equip their team

(25:59):
to beat Boston, but I don't think they saw Indiana coming, man,
and they are a headache. And Halliburton he's one of
those unique guys with Luca and Harden and Lebron and
you know, you know, hey, if you want to throw
Brunton in there, the way he's playing, but he can
control a game with his passing, he can control a

(26:20):
game with his scoring. Indiana's legit, dude. I'm telling you
right now. I picked them before, and there's no surprise
that they if they get past Cleveland, it's suck because
they have such an unbelievable season in Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Is Giannisa buck next year, it won't surprised me.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
You know why has the reality I think this is
as much of a big deal he's got to look
at as any He's so loyal, dude, And the one
trend that we've seen in the past is that Milwaukee's
not willing to cut ties with him, even if it's smart,
even if it's saying, this is the most we can get,
and you better get you better, you know, get the
full five draft picks, you know, along with it, and

(27:04):
now we're the NBA will throw a The NBA might
be on that one if he just goes for anything less,
but Milwaukee has shown that they're willing to do anything
to make him happy, you know, go after a star
or go after a player. Hey, shoot, you might have
to sign the NASAs and a little brother overseas right now.

(27:25):
But I can see Milwaukee stepping up to the table
and doing everything they can to keep him happy. But ultimately,
I think the honest's heart is somewhere else. He knows
he needs to go, but I don't know if he
if he's willing to pull the trigger, don't. I don't.
He would have to prove to me and show that.
I just I don't think so. And clearly, Doug, you
know at Houston has the best they're the best fit

(27:47):
if you're talking about assets to get him, but that
would be a whole different, a whole different scenario going
right there.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Okay, Doug otleib show here on Fox Sports Radio, how
do NBA guys view Lebron and how the thing ended? Right?

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Like?

Speaker 1 (28:08):
He had the weird answer when he was asked about
you know what they need to add and he goes like, hey,
ad said something, and then he was gone. And then
they asked him about Luke, Hey, this is going to
be Luca's deal the rest of the time, not mine, Like,
how do and then you know he has the knee injury,

(28:28):
so that which they announced afterwards, he wouldn't even know
play they kept playing anyway. How do NBA people, as
a you know, ten year vet, you're around those circles
more than I am, how do they feel about them?

Speaker 7 (28:40):
Well, you know, for the current players, you kind of
know that stuff is above your pay grade. You know
what I'm saying. You know Lebron has certain privileges for
the current players. Then then what you have and the
focus and say, hey, let me do what I need
to do while you're around him, and there you get
a lot of the perks. It's fulled. There's something like
being in LA but it comes had a big cost.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
You.

Speaker 7 (29:00):
Now, for the former players, we go, come on, Lebron,
you don't need to sell it. We know you. We
know you were aware of the ad trade and you
know obviously open arms. You know, took Luca in at
the end of the day and when it kind of backfired,
you know, you didn't have a center on the floor.
You're going, dang, we don't have a center of the

(29:20):
deal with Mark Williams didn't work out, So you know,
you probably didn't see that coming. And and I think,
me personally, I think it was unnecessary for him to say.
I think right now, for Lebron, let's is more. We
got respect for his legacy, everything he's done, and there's
no question there. But you did raise an eyebrow for
the former players who saw that. But for the current guys.

(29:42):
You know you know what's him for him ain't for you.
You know you don't get away with those things or
not privy to those uh to those conversations.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Ran great stuff. Thanks so what you join us.

milan with that. Goal so some big happenings, overseas but

Screen, Dan, yeah that's pretty, awesome pretty awesome. Feature Doug
Kentucky Derby Winter sovereignty is not going to be racing
in The Preakedness. Stakes the race takes place a week
from This. Saturday it's the fourth time since twenty eighteen
that The derby winner will not race in The. Preakness
justify won The Triple crown in twenty. Eighteen Trainer Bill
mott says that the planet is For sovereignty to run

(31:20):
in The belmont and that nobody in their camp felt
strong About sovereignty running In baltimore in a week and a.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Half so, basically this is the player's safety version of horse,
racing right and the only thing we care about as
horse racing fans is the is The Triple, crown like
the non hardcore And i'm sure it's the right thing

(31:47):
to do for the, horse and it's something that as
somebody who owns two horses would tell, you like the
right thing to do for the horse is the right
thing to do for the, horse but kind of destroys the,
sport isn't. It SO.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
I am not as well versed into thoroughbreads and horse
racing as you, Are. Doug BUT i would think That i'm.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Not versed in the thoroughbit, racing just so you.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Know but, no but your daughter's in equestrian An oklahoma,
state and so at least you know about the. ANIMAL
i would think that from what we know about fees
and stud fees and, everything that wouldn't that be a reason,
why if anything was at, risk to not risk it
for what could be at stake in the. Future, yeah, YEAH.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
I get all of. That, OKAY i don't think that's
THE i, mean they haven't had the eight BELL i
was at the race when they put eight bells down
at The Kentucky, derby, right and obviously what's happened at
some of the local at one of the local tracks
right in Southern, california everyone's paid attention. TO i get.

(32:56):
It BUT i mean outside of the hardcore racing pan
the only thing you know about horse racing is, well
you know The Kentucky derby and then you know The Triple.
Crown and to not have for this the fourth, time
this is now it's a, trend and you, know three
year olds probably aren't supposed to race that close together
at that much, energy but they. Have they've done it

(33:17):
for over one hundred, years and only now we're like
hesitant to do. So so, again Like i'm not saying
that you always throw the horse out, there but don't
you throw the horse out there for the. Sport what
they're doing is they're creating a s. Well they got
a chance to win The, belmont right because obviously you

(33:39):
got late speed with this, horse came from way behind
to win late. Speed you feel good about The, belmont
which is the longest of the three, races and you
have the most, Rest but, like what now for The?
Preakness if nobody runs in The, preakness because it doesn't
matter because you're trying to protect these. Horses, sure it's
a really hard one for the, sport isn't.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
It yessolutely mentioned the fourth time since twenty eighteen that
The derby winner will not, race and that's again the
conversation of spreading out the races a little bit. More
but that has not. Happened apparently a bowl game For
akron is not. Happening doug the football program in their
academic progress rate has fallen to nine. FOURTEEN i got

(34:20):
this from the college Football reddit, page and they are
now ineligible for the postseason coming.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
In So i'm a coach of a program that we
are soon to go OFF apr. Probation it is the
most arcane Rule i've ever. Seen hasn't really changed a
little bit of it since two thousand and. Four how
much of college sports has changed since two thousand and?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
FOUR a lot?

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Everything, Okay So, dan did you know you get points
for you'll been eligible and for? Retention like how are
you supposed to retain now in college football or college? Basketball?
Like why are? WE i have TO i have to.
Care like a couple my players signed at different schools.
TODAY i have to celebrate. That why because that gets
them off of our books FOR. Apr it's. Great, Hey

(35:08):
hey Isam, Randa you're At loyla At Long Island. University,
awesome good for. You Foster, wonders you're At Cleveland. State,
yes you, know we talked About anthony Roy he's At Oklahoma,
state all. Right Jeremiah johnson at at where's the At? Campbell?
Campbell The campbell's they. Spit it's that helps you in YOUR.

(35:29):
Apr it's just the MOST i feel for those coaches
and the players of actoring can't go to a bowl.
GAME i do think you can, go but you have
to do what we did this, year which means practice
less and in study. More we actually had one day
less of practice per week and four hours mandatory study
hall for THE ncaa every.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Week idaho when they were IN, fbs was the last
school to Be bowl and eligible and eligible for A
bowl because of the academic progress. Rate that was about
a decade. Ago THUNDER, Gmc i'm pressed he named the
NBA's executive of The year.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Today would have been funny, though if like THE gm
of The nuggets was named THE, gm like like, no, no,
wait we're gonna get To San. Presty then last, second
we gave it to The nuggets.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
If they had A. Gm remember they Fired Kelvin. Booth they. Did,
Yeah florida Gave Todd golden a new contract extension six,
years forty and a half million dollars after that national.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Title it's a golden contract.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
AND bronzeworkiy, quarterbacks You Door sanders will wear number twelve.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
In THE.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
