(00:24):
Plus we have our podcast which follows this show, type
in Doug Gotlieb every year podcast. And you'll thank me
for it now, you will. You will thank me for it.
You haven't even said thank you this whole time you've
been here. Sorry. Uh So, if you watch sports, and

(00:50):
I do, and I enjoy what I watch, I there's
just a couple of shows on TV you feel like
you can't miss. Cowherd Show is one of them, and Colin,
of course has recently. Is he full time in Chicago
or is the only part time? I text him this
morning he was in Chicago, so I know he's in
Chicago this week. But it wasn't just his show. There
were several shows yesterday that Ben Johnson was on and

(01:19):
you're like, wait, Ben Johnson, he's a new head coach
of the Bears. Yeah, was he hired yesterday? No? No,
Ben Johnson was not hired yesterday. Ben Johnson was in
a finalist for the job. Ben Johnson's had the job.
The draft has been over, free agency has been over,
everything's been over, and only now well now he pops
up on Colin Cowherd show as well as several other

(01:41):
shows that my friends. Is known as damage control, and
you can always tell how much damage is done based
upon the damage control. It's just like with a fire, right,
how many alarm fire there is? That means how many
fire trucks. How many fire trucks are at the fire.

(02:02):
As a five alarm fire, you're like, oh my god,
that's a big one. If it's one fire trucks mean, oh,
maybe it's a cat they're trying to get out, or
somebody suffered cardiac arrest, or there's something that needs to
be done and they come in. Right, the worse the fire,
the more the trucks, the bigger the reaction. And considering
yesterday was a Thursday in May, and yeah, the schedule

(02:27):
release was the day before that's it. It's not. He's around,
but let's get him out there, Let's get him in
front of the camera. Let's have him do multiple interviews.
That shows how rough the backlash was from their young
quarterback Kayler Williams and allowing sex with Seth Wickersham to

(02:48):
follow him around and utter some really interesting commentary on
why he didn't want to go to the Bears. Here's
Ben Johnson, new head coach. The Bears member, wasn't his
co coach? Wasn't a coach during the time he was
with the Lions? Is the offensive quidinatre talking about Seth
Wickersham's book excerpts.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
How do you ensure he doesn't lose faith and belief
in your system?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
You talk about fears, and I don't see it quite
the same way. I see this is what a great
opportunity we have to do something that really has never
been done. There hasn't been a four thousand yard pastor
here in this franchise, and I think Caleb is going
to be the first one, and one of many years,
many seasons to come where he's able to accomplish that feat.

(03:35):
So I see a chance for greatness here for him.
He's been communicated that way and he feels the same way.
I don't know what's going on prior to him joining
the organization, but he is very proud to be a
Chicago Bear. That's what our conversations have included. And he's
really excited to get to work right now and be

(03:56):
the best version of himself for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Here's the here's the hard one. Okay, here's the hard one.
That you can be right and you can be out
of a job. He's not wrong. They hadn't had a
franchise quarterback, and sometimes it's you know, all how you
look at it right, Like, was Mitchell Trubisky when they

(04:21):
could have drafted Pat Mahomes? What was it the fact
that it was the Chicago Bears? Was it the coaching
staff at the time, or was it that Mitchell Trubisky
just wasn't that good that caused him to top out
Jay Cutler? Was it the Chicago Bears, the coaching staff
he played for, or Jay Cutler that didn't allow Jay

(04:45):
Cutler to be what maybe his talent led you to
believe he could be. But regardless of whether or not
it was accurate that they hadn't developed a quarterback. Regardless
of whether or not Minnesota does seem like a great
place for a young quarterback to go. The reality is

(05:06):
he knew he was gonna be Chicago bear. He tried
to fight being a Chicago Bear. They threw out the UFL,
which is like comical. They didn't like the rookie salary cap,
which of course one you're not going to change. Like
this's the whole idea of it, right, is that they
negotiated for ten years. We got like six years left.

(05:27):
It's not changing anytime soon. And even when they do
change it, the rookie rookie scale won't change. You know
why because the people who vote on it are rank
and file members. The rank and file members may be
on a rookie contract, but their next contract is not.
So you're not going to vote to help out the
next group of rookies. Why would you with a point

(05:49):
B when you want money for yourself and it And
there's the last part to it is there's always been
a sense of aloofness entitlement. You know, there's the falling
in his mom's arms, you know when they're losing in

(06:10):
a game, or the famous headback meme just Caleb Williams
has a bit of a pr issue and this made
it worse, not better, and his coach trying to clean
it up. He's always wanted to be Chicago Bear. He
loves it here. I can't speak to what he said
before he was a Bear, but now he's amazing. He's amazing.

(06:33):
Damage done.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Look, if you win, it doesn't matter, people forget. We
talked about this yesterday. Chris Webber did not want to
go to the Sacramento Kings, didn't want to go there,
goes there, and he is forever embedded on the hearts
and minds of all of the Kings fans, despite the
fact they never beat the Lakers. He just is. And

(06:58):
there's been other stories of it coaches who are the
second or third choice of the team. The coaches don't
necessarily forget, but people forget. But they only forget if
you win big, and right now, they haven't one big.
Right now, he seems spoiled, entitled, and like he'd like
to be anywhere other than Soldier Field. Even if you

(07:20):
ask Bears fans, they probably agree with him, like, yeah,
we haven't developed a franchise quarterback. We have not, But
you want to be a Viking. For over forty years,
Tyrak has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive. Ship fast and free and
back by Free Road has protection with convenient insulation options
like Mobile Tire Insallation ti right dot Com. The way

(07:40):
tire buying should be should be.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Ilo.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
You brought up the what are you gonna do? What
sporting event you are looking forward to next weekend? Was
it because you wanted somebody to say the ND five hundred?
Was there? Something else? Was because you want to prefet
to suddenly take on the Dan Birol about golf? What
was behind What was the motive behind that?

Speaker 5 (08:03):
It was basically all of those things combined. It wasn't
just from a sports related vein in the second half
of May. As you use the opportunity to bring up
your Kenny Chesney concert. Uh No, just in general on
the second half of May. For me, my oldest his
birthday just happens to be during the second half of May,

(08:26):
so there was nothing to faarious.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
So you wanted to bring that up. You were were nefarious?
That's funny. I had a conversation with somebody's like, you're
the only one who mentions the word nefarious. I'm like,
that's not true. That's not true.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
I didn't think it was that rare of a word.
I think it's a great, versatile, load, all purpose word.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
I looad. Do you ever use the word fiefdom?

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Uh? No, I, I and I. Here's how little I
used that word. I'm not sure. I didn't know what
was pronounced fiefdom. I thought I was pronounced fifdom.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Maybe you could look it up, Jay stew we've had
this discussion before. Do you use word fiefdom? I would
say you never ever prefet for? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (09:09):
I mean I'm I'm kind of tilted as I played
Dungeons and Dragons, So this is not something you want
to admit on the sorry before, this is no, this
is no new territory.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Okay, so you've used word.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
I've used a lot.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
There you go. Hey, so, but so iload. You you
know what it means, right? You just think it's pronounced
differently linked.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Oh yeah, it is pronounced fiefdom according to uh Google.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah yeah, okay, well good. I'm I'm in addition to
conducting a very very successful radio show, I just want
an argument today, and I feel really good about myself.
And I'm on a little bit of an argument role.
I don't know about you, guys. I'm a little bit
of an argument role.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
For what the last two decades.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Uh No, No, I mean look, when you're hosting a
radio show by yourself, that's what I mean. You win argument. No,
but I mean I I've lost arguments in real life before.
Not today, not to today's a good one. That's a
good one. And and here's it, I'll tell you some Honestly,
it wasn't a humble brag about going to the thunder Knicks.
It's you know, my son wants to go. And I

(10:12):
was like, dude, if they were watching the game, He's
in Oklahoma, I'm and in Green Bay. Last night we're
watching it on FaceTime and I'm texting, like, who you're
rooting for? Dude? You know, because he won oakleam see
to win because he's a thunder fan. But he also
knew that. I told him if they go to Game seven,
I'll get some tickets. Let's go to Game seven. So

(10:33):
he's like, so he said, low key, I'm rooting for Denver.
Low Key. See that's how I stay hip, guys. Is
I got a son and he hits me with low
key and now I know proper use of low key.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
How dos he hit you with a low key Sus? Yet?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I think Sus is over? Okay, I think sus is
over all right, I think Sus is over. I think
Sus is over. Yeah, yeah, But my point is, like
I'm into going to that game. I would rather go
to tonight's game.

(11:43):
Did you see this? That Howard Surt's even gonna sit
court side? You know? He like lots of people have
lost their minds because of COVID, Right, lots of people
lost their minds because of COVID both sides, right, You'll
you'll have people I saw is his name Jason Brown?
Is that the coach from Last Chance? You do? You

(12:05):
guys know what I'm talking about. He was a coach
I think at Independence Junior College, and I mean he's
loud and gruff, and he says a lot of funny stuff,
a lot of stuff that is like you just can't
say he's out there, but he did a rant I
saw on social media today about how all these Achilles

(12:26):
injuries you go back and pre COVID never happened. Doesn't
really matter that Kobe Bryant tore his pre COVID, or
Kevin Durant tore his pre COVID, or I don't know,
like Dominic Wilkins was pre It doesn't matter. The point
was he's convinced that the vaccine, just like people were

(12:46):
convinced that that it caused people to drop dead, that
the vaccine caused Achilles ten in tears. Now with those
scientific evidence at all, to sport, it's just like these
guys have torn their He's ten and it's a big problem.
Must be the COVID vaccine. My point is that's on
one side of COVID making people crazy. The other side

(13:09):
is like Howard Stern. I don't know if he ever
went do you ever go back to his studio Jay Stu,
because I think he moved everything to his house in
the Hamptons and it just like became a shut in
for a long time.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Yeah, that sounds right.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
I know I've never been there.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
But he hasn't been to a Knicks game since before COVID.
He's coming tonight. Right. If there's one thing that can
bridge the gap between left and right, between all the
crazy and the post COVID era, we're cleaning up the
mess that was COVID nineteen, The New York Knicks can
bring left and right together NBA basketball. It's fantastic. Now.

(13:51):
The question is a couple like a mask and gloves
and and and ake. Although I will tell you that
one of the things people are generally gross, right, They're
just gross. And there was some there's a lot of
things that we that we don't like from that come
from COVID. But one thing is, I don't know. People

(14:14):
are a little bit onto some of them with the masks,
especially on an airline. Just people are gross. I flew
this morning. It just grows. The breath, the snoring, the coughing,
the sneezing. We're in tight proximity. Put a mask on
dud not because the fear of COVID, because the fear
of everything else. You're just gross. Uh. The Knicks are

(14:36):
two and a half point favorites, so at home it's
supposed to be what three point swing is at home?
That Vegas thinks the Celtics are better, But the Nicks
are better because they're at home. Tonight, stuck out, leave
show here on Fox Sports Radio. Cue the music. Oh yeah,

(14:58):
we got to make Game six night, big Game seven
this weekend. We got We're wondering what happens with some
of these stars in the offseason. It's time for the
funky cold. Mark Medina, Mark Medina's our Fox Sports Radio
NBA insider. He joins us now on the show, I'm
going to thunder Denver Game seven on Sunday. But Game

(15:24):
six in Medicine Square Garden kind of sounds like the
better event, right, And like I you're not a New Yorker, Mark,
My dad was. New Yorkers can be a lot, they
could be annoying, but in this particular case, being an
obnoxious New Yorker just kind of works for the event.
Can you believe they haven't closed out a series at
home since nineteen ninety nine?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
It is wild, Doug. I agree with you. If I
had to rank the greatest atmospheres of this weekend, I
would say it's Nick Celtics Tonight, Thunder Nuggets Sunday Game
seven and then that intro music. I mean, you made
the highway of my night here, so I really appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Ah, Hi there, Yeah, you're you are, you are in
fact welcome. Okay, let's let's start with Let's start with
last night with the Nuggets, and you know the Thunder there,
they drive to the basket at a rate like one
and a half times that of the Nuggets getting fewer calls.
They're just Shay Gilds Alexander is such a free throw merchant.
He's hard to officiate. How's the league? What do people

(16:28):
in the league say about Gildes Alexander and how he
draws fouls?

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Yeah? I think what people around the league say is
that he is not like James Harden, where you know
there's that flailing and dramatic impression to call fouls that
they think that he's just very crafty and shifty and
knows how to play the angles, and so I think
there's a better appreciation for him being able to get
to the free throw line. It also helps that he's

(16:55):
addressed some of his weaknesses. He's not the best three
point shooter, but he's more respectable, and he is an
isolation score, but he's improved as a playmaker. So because
he added those tools to his toolbox, he is able
to draw to his bread and butter with the game
to the basket and getting fouls a lot more efficiently,

(17:16):
because it's not just a one trick pony.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
If what if Denver goes to the finals or wins
the championship, have they found their next head coach?

Speaker 4 (17:29):
I think so. I mean, here's the thing, Doug's that
we have to keep in mind when it comes to
NBA teams, how they respond to head coaching changes short term,
whether you like the agree with the coaching change or not,
there's always that adrendaline rush and feeling that they want
to show that they're not culpable for the firing, and

(17:50):
there's also an element of wanting to do right to
make the next head coach look good internally or at
least be can considered a good head coaching Canada elsewhere.
But here, I think David Adelman's coaching vacancy is here
to stay because he already had built in equity on

(18:11):
the staff. He's well respected being the son of Battleman,
and I think that there's just a respect level that
you know, he came in not trying to reinvent the wheel,
but be an extension of Michael Malone. And the new
voice really helps too. And I think the other thing
that helps is that they're a lot healthier Jamal Murray.
This is the Jamal Murray that they want to see

(18:32):
all season, but health and inconsistency got in the way.
So you add all that up and Nikolkic being Nikoliokch,
all of a sudden, they're a team that you have
to take seriously.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
No doubt about it. Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio.
This is Mark Padina, He's our Fox Sports Radio NBA Insider.
Let's go to the other side. Uh, Jason Tatum tears
his achilles tendon. Does anybody know what's going on with stossingas?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
No?

Speaker 4 (19:02):
They call it the mystery illness It's very odd because
you would think, Okay, if it's an illness and there's
not any specificity of what it is, you might think, oh,
it's some viral infection. But if it is, he's want
to be around the team because that can be contagious
and cause issues. I believe from my understanding, it's more
of an upper respiratory issue, though he can be around

(19:26):
the team. There's not a standard rehab because it's not
an actual injury, but you have to take it seriously
because if he's having breathing issues on the court, that
could lead to more serious things. But that's a really
tough one done because I think pre Jason Tatum injury,
christophs Porzingis is always considered a luxury. It's a nice addition,

(19:50):
but you don't it's not a necessity. But now that
Jason Tatum's out, they need all the help they can get.
And christophs Porzingis, even when Tatum was in the lineup,
he was a game changer of having an offensive identity
center around ball movement as opposed to Tatum and Jaylen
Brown doing their thing one on one and trying to

(20:10):
take turns. He's really kind of the missing piece that
made the engine go here.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Okay, so what does that team look like next year? Again,
I don't want to get ahead of myself. I think
they can. They can win tonight. They can they can
win in Game seven, but perzingis constantly being sick or
hurt and Jason Tatum, there are already going to be
some changes made. It feels like they'll be even more
changes made. What's that team look like next year?

Speaker 4 (20:36):
I think everything is on the table, Doug. I mean
it would have seen preprosperous before. Because they're the NBA champions.
They don't have to make tough financial decisions just yet
because they have got, you know, their core guys on
long term deals. But when you're looking in the fact
that they could come up short in the playoffs, Jason Tatum,
it's not a career ending injury with the achilles, but

(20:58):
it could be career all because Dominique Wilkins is literally
the lone exception of an example of a player that
came back better after his achilles injury, their identity is
going to be different. But what that looks like it's
hard to know. Because they're not going to blow it up.
They want to still be in that conversation. They'll have

(21:21):
a chance to contend in the playoffs as a championship contender,
but they're going to have to keep everything available as
far as options go. They're not going to trade Jason Tatum.
I mean, he's going to be dealing with his rehab.
But I think everything else they have to consider. Again,
But it's not about blowing it up. It's about can
they be better? But I think when you're looking around

(21:43):
the league, Doug, there's a lot of expectations that is
going to be a really fluid, heavy player movement offseason
because of Janna Sottokumpo, because of Kevin Durant. You look
at the San Antonio Spurs, you look at the Houston Rockets,
They're gonna philosophically, way okay, do they make another move
that gets them that missing piece while still maintaining some

(22:06):
semblance of youth and continuity. And because of that, I
think every team that wants to be in the mix
has to be very flexible and open minded.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Okay, So let's talk Giannis. What's most likely?

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Yeah, I think what's most likely is the Bucks aren't
going to do anything until Yannis makes it clear he
wants to be traded because I think the Bucks one
are trying to come to grips with the reality of
trading your superstar player, even if there is a case
to be made. You lose the first round for three
consecutive offseasons, what are you doing here? Damian Lillard is

(22:44):
having a lot of questions about his own injury next season.
Why not just collect assets? But I don't think the
Bucks are in that time frame or state of mind
right now. But if Yannis comes to them and makes
it clear he once out, that makes it a lot
more clear on what to do. So I think it's
going to be about waiting until Yannis gives them that

(23:07):
signal and then all options are on the table. But
it's about getting draft picks, young players and serviceable rotation players.
It's not about getting you know, some veterans that may
or may not give them a chance to make the
play and Torment in the first round. They have to
use this trade for Gannis like a Herschel Walker trail

(23:28):
where you're getting a haul back, and there are teams
that could be in that mix, whether it's San Antonio Houston.
But I think the challenging thing here Doug is all
those teams that do have assets, they are i think
going to draw a line at some point of not
wanting to have an empty cupboard after making a major
deal because they're trying to make that next push to

(23:49):
contend for a title as well.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Okay, so outside of Jannis, I've read where the Lakers, well,
they it doesn't feel like any of their big three
they want to make an adjustment to. So how can
the Lakers get better?

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Yeah? That's the tough thing though, because yeah, Lebron's not
going out anywhere, Luca's not going anywhere. There might be
questions about their contract what it looks like, but they're
their stay Austin Reeves. You know, Rob Polinka, I thought
it was telling that he talked about Austin Reeves as
part of their pillar and a good starting point. That's
not to say though that he's untradeable, but it's more about, Okay,

(24:27):
what would this trade look like with Austin Reeves. And
when you connect the dots here, he's not being paid
as a star player because he's not a star player.
So because of that, you have to all of a
sudden add a bunch of players to match salary. So
because of that, expect Austin Reeves to be back, and
now it's about making everyone else available in trades. Dorin,
Finny Smith gave Vincent maybe even really Hatchamore. Is that

(24:49):
enough to get a center that can you know, be
a lop threat for Luka Datis as well as give
them the kind of defensive reinforcements that they lacked in
the playoffs. I think the secondary part is can they
get some more wing depth. They do have some wing
depth with Sidney Smith and ruly Etchama, but as we saw,

(25:09):
wasn't good enough. So it's about making those role players
available and seeing what they can get. But again, when
you're making role players available and that's it, you're not
making you know, Marquee game changing moves. But you know what,
that might be the best option, because the Lakers already
made that with.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Luca Okay Golden State Warriors. They lose Steph gets hurt,
made the big trade for Jimmy Butler Jonathan Minga As
a signing trade candidate, who do you think they add?

Speaker 4 (25:43):
Yeah, it's a good question. I think that's what's going
to happen. Now, what do they bring in return is
going to be the interesting question because it really comes
down to what do people think about Jonathan Kaminga as
a player, And that's the ultimate riddle here. Because he's
very talented, no doubt about it. He's very athletic. He
can be a good defender, but when he's given playing time,

(26:04):
he's often shown that he doesn't deserve it because he
makes bad decisions. He can't finish at the rim consistently,
So it's a it's a push pool. And I think
when you saw when you saw the fact that they
needed him when Jimmy Butler was out and he wasn't
completely ready for it, that I think reinforced in Steve

(26:25):
Kerr's mind why he hasn't really played him now. The
fact that Jimmy Butler was there crystalized that. But even
if Jimmy Butler wasn't there, it would have been a
constant push pool. So here's the thing. Joe lakep is
a huge fan of Kaminga because the Warriors shrafted him.
He has an investment. But I think they are going
to trade him, but I don't know what they can

(26:45):
get in return for him. That's the thing that's troubling.
But where the Warriors are at right now, is there
of the belief that Steph Curry, even though he's older
in age, this was just a fluke injury with the
hamstring issue, and Jimmy Butler is going to continue to
be Jimmy Butler and it's just about building the right

(27:06):
roster pieces around him. But as we saw in the playoffs,
anything can happen with Steph Curry or Jimmy Butler getting injuries.
I don't think it's the best formula, but it's probably
the most realistic. But your question, Doug, I don't know
what MAGA could get into trade because the feeling around
him is so mixed around the league.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, I
know it. It is really interesting. There's some definite highs,
but there's some low lows there. Kevin Durant, everybody thinks
he'll be moved. Where's he going to go? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
That I think the most three likely candidates are Miami
and then San Antonio and then Houston. But there's a
lot of complications here because Kevin Durant's great, He's a fishing,
one of the best scorers ever still playing at high level.
He just makes a lot of money, and what do
you give up in return for a player that has
been consistent went on the floor, but has had a

(28:06):
handful of injuries ever since he tore his achilles in
twenty nineteen. So I think because of the way Miami
lost in the playoffs and because they saw how life
is without Jimmy Butler, I think they're going to be
most aggressive. But here's what Miami has to offer that
I don't think they're at the point now where they're
giving up Bam out of Buyo or even Tyler Hero.

(28:27):
So they're trying to patch together Andrew Wiggins, Him Hawkins
Junior and some draft picks and maybe Duncan Robinson. That
doesn't sound great, but I think when you're looking at
Phoenix's end, that's probably the best option that they're going
to have available because I think that san Antonio and
Juston they would be interested in Kevin Durant. I just

(28:49):
think that they're going to be more strict on what
they give up because the with san Antonio, the priority
is still long term growth. They still want to have
an investment, not just Victor one Binyama, but they're young
core in general. With Houston, even though you know you
have questions about Jalen Green to see enough of a
star player. Jabari Smith Junior the same thing. I think

(29:10):
they still want to keep enough depth in youth. That's
not to say that won't happen, but I think he'll
end up with the Miami.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
At the Miami Heat, which is where so many players
have gone to try and resurrect their career late in
their career, like like Check, like Check did as well,
Jimmy Butler did as well before before Hugh's moved to
Golden State. Mark great Stuff really appreciates join us. Do
you have a prediction on tonight's game?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Tough one, but I'm gonna go with the next. I'm
gonna go with the next. I mean, it's going to
be a crazy environment, as you said, massive square garden.
But once the results are in and they punch their
tickets in these finals, it's going to be probably the
most memorable moment literally was in four decades now for
the for the.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Next, since the OJ Chase, thanks so much, Mark, appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
I appreciate you. I appreciate the intros always.

Speaker 1 (29:59):

of the Week with something we call the Press. The

(31:06):
Press is basically Isaac Low and Kron giving us the
big stories today. Give you a little quick reaction so
you know how I feel about the things everybody's talking
about before you go about your day, Ilo Doug.

Speaker 5 (31:16):
Injured Celtics star Jason Tatum has actually been recuperating in
New York and yesterday dreams are made. Don't encourage me, Doug.
Yesterday he met with his teammates at their.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Sorry terrible, That's what I did on.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
Behalf of people across America. I'd like to apologize to
Doug for all the windows that just shattered across from
coast to coast. Anyway, Jason Tatum met with his teammates
at their hotel for the first time since hearing achilles
in Game four. Guard Peyton Pritchard said that seeing him
was an emotional lift for everyone, saying, we didn't talk
about basketball at all. That stuff is bigger than basketball.

(31:58):
It's seeing how he is as a per We just
want to check in as a friend.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
He's hurt. How are you? He's hurt. That's how it is.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
That's actually the actual audio of their meeting.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
So how you doing. It's like I tore my Kelly
Stendon and then I had it sewed up, So.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
What else is going on? On that note, We have
some anecdotes as it relates to the ticket demand for
Game six to night in Madison. Square garden courtesy of TMZ,
which reports, among other things, that one fan paid twenty
thousand dollars for one mid court lower level seat tonight.

(32:44):
A VIP seat is presently being offered for twenty three
thousand dollars, and the lowest asking price for a nosebleed
seat six hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Interesting, would you pay twenty thousand dollars to watch the
basketball game? The answer is no? But again, like New
York money is just like even more so than LA money,
So true, Like those dudes in the finance world, yeah,
they just it's it's obscene. But I would, I mean,
can you imagine? Do you imagine like twenty like is
it twenty thousand a seat or twenty thousand for.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
The pair and one one seat? One seat?

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Did he get too?

Speaker 5 (33:30):
I'm sorry no, No, twenty thousand dollars for one mid
court lower level seat. I guess he was going he
or she we're going stag going stag now, all right,
But by the way, here's one other anecdote that TMZ
also reported, and this is interesting. TMZ reports that fans

(33:53):
are traveling an average of two hundred and twenty nine
miles to a tend tonight's game. Really, I'm just fascinated
on a how they came up with that. I guess it's,
you know, data from the various ticket brokers and resale sites.
But for data, yes, I wouldn't have guessed that. I mean,

(34:16):
is it like you know how it was it the Masters,
when you have this one giant line of private planes
waiting to take off at the airport and they run
out of parking spaces for all of them. Probably that's
how you're getting to Okay, see for game seven tomorrow, right, I.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Know, I'm heready hear Oh you're already there. It's Sunday too.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
So okay, well, sorry, sorry, sorry, all right. You know
I remember, you know, back you know, before you got
the Green Bay job. You know, you'd be doing the
show and we would literally hear your private Leer jet
flying by your house in the background. Those were the days.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
I just I felt like there was too it was
too posh for Screen Bay. You know. Now I play
Assessina everywhere go flight myself.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
That's very impressive.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
I text, tweet and fly out at the same time.

Speaker 5 (35:01):
I'd like to uh let our friends at the FAA
who might be listening though, that Doug. I think they
all got fired.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
They all got fired.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
Never mind that, never mind that, all right, potential interesting
news in the NFL is SI dot com reports that
next week, NFL owner is going to vote on a
proposal that would seed all playoff teams by record, rather
than automatically giving the top four seeds to the division winners.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Now we're here again, But again, remember so much your
record is based upon who you've actually played. H And
you know there are years in which AFC West last
year is the beneficiary of who they crossed over against
wasn't any good, and the records were inflated. You know,
we saw it with the NFC North in the playoffs
as well, AFC West, a C North inflated because of
who they metched up with.

Speaker 5 (35:47):
So I take it you think you think this idea?

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Yeah, I think the current system's fine.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Fine, Okay.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
The rationale here is simply that it would conceivably add
more meaning to the final two weeks of the regular
season instead of a bunch of, you know, teams who
had already clinched their respective divisions and might be in
a comparatively weaker division resting their starters, like Kansas City
has done a number of times over the years with
good reason.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
I don't know. I mean, I'm sure that if somebody
wants to rest their players to find a way to
do it, if they can do it now, just like
they'll do it then as well.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
Okay. At our final item on this edition of the
Press it's also related to the Chicago Bears. It's being
reported today that the team is now once again turning
its focus on building a new stadium to three hundred
and twenty six acre property that they own in Arlington Heights, Illinois,

(36:45):
a suburb of Chicago that was previously home to the
Arling Arlington International race Course, which would mean that they're
taking the focus away from remaining in Chicago proper in
you know, rebuilding among other things aside around the area
of Soldier Field.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
Yeah, I don't know, I mean common when it's done,
the you know, the racecourse turning into a stadium and
entertainment hub, that's so fi right.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
It worked there, but not necessarily with this one.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
No, it'll work. But again, you're taking out of Chicago proper,
which is different, and you're gonna have to take it.
I think Arlington is to the it's on the north
side right, So you're cutting off the south side, so
then south side people are annoyed. I don't know, it's
just hard when you have a really old building like
you have in Soldier Field, and land is super expensive.

(37:39):
So I guess that's where they end up getting it done.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
And that concludes another all story edition of the Press,
Get out there and press.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
That was the press.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Profet Who wins tonight? Celtics or Nicks?

Speaker 5 (37:52):
I want to see the Celtics win. I'm going to
take the Celtics.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
JAYSETU who wins tonight? Se? What about you there?

Speaker 5 (37:59):
I looh, hey, twy thousand dollars to watch the Knicks
win tonight. It's going to be the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
I don't know. I just I think the Knicks went.
This is why you went and got the Villanova guys. Right,
they're the They're like the ultimate winners. So now you
got a shot. Celtics down a starter and a half.
I'll take the Knicks. Doug otlab Show, Fox Sports Radio
