Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Boom Doug gott Leaves show,
Fox Sports Radio. It is our quest. No, no, no,
it is our job to help you remember things you
have misremembered. You may have misremembered that Michael Jordan's did
(00:21):
in fact go through a tougher Eastern Conference then Lebron
James has ever seen. You may in fact misremember or
just flat out not remember the fact that Jordan in
the NBA Finals took down Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem
Abdul Jabbar to Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Cream had already retired.
(00:43):
He did, in fact takedown Clyde Drexon, who at the
time was seen as the second best shooting guard. He
did it at the time, takedown Gary Payton and Sean Kemp.
Gary Payton was, if not the best point guard in
the game, right there with John Stockton, and he took
down Stockton and Loan twice. So it's our job to
(01:04):
give everything context, to have opinion, but also be able
to paint the right picture of now and compare it historically.
I don't want to go back in the day too far,
but I I use that not with the Jordan Lebron debate,
which we can fire it up if you'd like. Phone
number has always eight, seven, seven and nine nine Fox
eight seven seven nine six six three six Night Doug
(01:26):
Gotli Show, Fox Sports Radio. I do so because the
topic of the day is Colin Kaepernick. Why you called
Kaepernick kaf a job? Is it because he protests the flag?
A little bit? Sure? But the problem with the Colin
Kaepernick story is no one seems to remember but this guy. Okay,
(01:49):
everybody seems to forget. How many years was Colin Kaepernick good? Like?
He took over a ready May championship team with the
San Francisco For the Niners, they were good with Alex Smith.
They had gotten to the NFC Championship game with Alex
captain checkdown Smith, and it actually wasn't his fault that
(02:14):
they lost to the Saints the year before. Do you
guys remember that it was this kick returner who twice
fumbled want to punt? Want a kickoff? That ruined the
niners chances? Alex Smith was actually good enough. That's how
good the Niners were there, and Kaepernick took them to
yet another level because of his youth, his athleticism and
(02:35):
the teams that they faced, and for a year and
a half he was seen to be one of the young,
up and coming, potentially elite quarterbacks. But something weird happens
in the NFL. Figyah, Right, If you can't throw from
the pocket, you can't read a defense, you can't manipulate
(03:00):
the pocket, if you can't throw running to either side,
if you fumble the football because you have small hands,
if you lack leadership to when things go poorly, guys
turn against you. The league figures you out. Go back
(03:21):
and look in a world in which four thousand yards
is the demarcation of a good not great season, he
doesn't have a four thousand yard passing season. Matter of fact,
he doesn't have at yard passing season. I will grant
you he was more of a running quarterback. But running
quarterbacks have to figure out a way to throw from
(03:42):
the pocket or else they do what Colin Kaepernick did,
which is they level off. The league figures them out,
and eventually they get hurt. Point to that, people forget.
You know Colin Kaepernick any surgery, right? You know he
had shoulder surgery. Right. Kaepernick's always had small hands, which
(04:02):
limits the ability to change arm angles. He's never been
able to be a true pocket passer, and the the
lift of a great athlete that he was at Nevada
early in the NFL is limited, one because you can't
be a running back running quarterback in this league. And two,
he's not running as well as he used to in
order does he throw as well as he used to.
(04:24):
Colin Kaepernick had a good year and a half. That's it.
And by the way, that year and a half ended
over three years ago. Stuck out Live show, Fox Sports Radio.
The world is freaking out because Colin Kaepernick was woke
last last fall. He was protesting what he thought were
(04:48):
injustices on people of color by the police. I had
a huge and continue to have a huge problem not
with not with protesting the flag you're allowed to, but
the things that he said while protesting the flag. I
thought we're too far out there. I thought it was
part of Facebook Nation taking part of the story talking
(05:10):
about murdering police walking the streets. Like, hey, dude, when
you're representing the Shield and representing your team and frankly
representing the city of San Francisco, you have to be
much more measured with your words than Colin Kaepertick was
even if you're going to protest the flag, I support
his right to protests the flag. I didn't support the
(05:30):
things that he said while supporting while protesting it. And
understand that you can protest the flag. You have your
First Amendment rights, But but you also work for a
corporation that is supported by other corporations who might not
be comfortable with it. Oh yeah, and and as good
a quarterback as used to be. I thought the San
(05:53):
Francisco for Dads were terrible last year, regardless of who
was quarterback. But they won one game of the eleven
games that he started, one by sixteen touchdowns and four interceptions.
And did those sixteen touchdowns help you win a game?
Did those four interceptions hurt you lose a game? They
(06:15):
were empty stats on a really bad team. And so
today people are woke. If you will over Colin Kaepernick
not getting signed. When Blane Gabbert to sign a contract,
we blame Gabbert signed for nine nine grand that's a
that's a one year veterans minimum deal. I know. Yeah.
(06:35):
By the way, Blaine Gabbert looks and feels like a
backup quarterback. Your vision of Colin Kaepernick gives, hey, once
upon a time he was in the Super Bowl. True, true,
But since that moment, he's an under is out badly
under five hundred quarterback who the league has figured out,
(06:59):
who's had shoulder surgery, has had knee surgery, had run
ins with teammates, members of the front office, and oh yeah,
by the way, when you're a backup, look around the
league at backups. Backups are seen, not heard from. Backups
make minimum money, and backups are guys that fit into
any system, not guys that need a specific system. Do
(07:23):
I think that the protests play a part in NFL
team staying away? Sure, I'm not an idiot, right, but
I think it also has to deal with has to
do with you can be woke, you could be a
social justice warrior, but dude, in order to get it,
you've gotta be really, really good to do it. Because
in the league where coaches in front office people are
(07:44):
all about eliminating distractions, that they can take a distraction
from a star wide receiver, a star quarterback can't take
it from a backup who who wants likely more money
that he's worth. Like, well, there's in serious contract di
sessions that's because everyone knows about what he's asking for
and no one really wants to play ball. So I
(08:11):
remember when the Denver Broncos wanted to trade for Colin
Kaepernick reportedly, but part of it was that Colin Kaepernick
didn't want to take a haircut, didn't want to go
from fourteen to seven million dollars in order to do so,
he stayed in San Francisco. He stayed with the terrible
team instead of taking less money and betting on himself
(08:32):
with a very good team that only needed a quarterback,
hadn't outstanding defense, and they failed. And then oh yeah,
by the way, I seem to be the only one
who remembers that Colin Kaepernick had a contract with the
San Francisco forty nine. He opted out of that contract.
He was not cut. He he made himself into a
free agent. So Kaepernick was really good for a year
(08:56):
and a half, and since then, the hegue has figured
him out. He's had two shirt surgeries on the two
parts of his body which are most important to his
style of football, his knee and his shoulder. And while
he hasn't performed terribly, it's not like they're winning games
in San Francisco with him at quarterback. He was actually
(09:17):
beaten out by Blaine Gabbert. There you go. He turned
down a trade to a better situation with the Denver Broncos,
and he opted out of his contract. So if you
want to say the only reason he's still on the
market is because he protested the flag, you're like so
many of the stories that I believe Colin Kaepernick protested,
(09:38):
you're only partially informed. Oh yeah, And I don't know
if you remember this, but um, he was a panon
they asked before he protests. Remember he was the guy
who was walking around the well. When you're the quarterback,
you're somebody who's supposed to bring people in. You're supposed,
we've talked about before. He's a quarterback, Right, They come in,
(09:59):
They command a room. People like them, people listen to,
people want to hang out with them. Colin Kaepernick was
famous for walking around the facility with his headphones on,
keeping to himself. He's not a type of personality. He's bright,
he's articulate, but he's not the He's not the type
of alpha you need to be to command fifty three men,
(10:22):
to be able to get guys to you ask any
of these we talked about this with um Deshan Kaiser
Notre Dame, right, what was the story of Deshan Kaiser,
Sean Kaiser. The report was that when you asked Notre
Dame guys like, yeah, he's all right. When you asked
Clemson guys about Deshaun Watson, or you asked North Carolina
(10:42):
guys about Mitchell Trobinsky, they were always like, that's our guy,
that's my dog. I'd roll with that guy anytime. Not
the same with Deshaan Kaiser. That's Colin Kaepernick was So
it takes just the right team for him to be
the leader of the quarterback. It takes just the right
team for his style of play. His arm isn't the same,
(11:03):
his legs aren't the same, his persona is not the same.
His salary demands can't can't even close to measure up
to where he used to be. He opted out of
a deal after getting beat out previously by Blaine Gabbard,
who's playing for minimum money nine grand I'm not saying
that protesting the flag in the way in which he
(11:25):
processes the flag and the things that which she said,
that didn't that didn't make some people upset. That didn't
make some corporations hasn't don't towards signing the guy who
hasn't towards supporting whatever team signed the guy. But if
he could really really play, and he hadn't had surgery,
and he could really lead and he was a dude,
may be on a team. Jared Dudley Johnny in studio
(11:54):
up coming next with True Car, you can find out
what other people in your area paid for the same
car you're looking for. We're in an average tab over
th M s r P. Whether you're looking for a
new or use car, Visit True Car to enjoy a
more confident car buying experience. Ah, we can do that.
We can do the Lebron versus Jordan's how do you
(12:15):
fix the Clippers? And um, why is there such disparity
from one game to the next. If you watch this
Wizard Celtics series, if the Wizards look utterly unbeatable at
home and completely beatable on the road, If you want
to tell me it's home court advantage, fine, but it
(12:35):
doesn't exist in the NBA generally. Why such disparity between
from game to game and so many blowouts all last year?
Dudley of the Phoenix Suns he joins us next bad
(12:58):
boy whoa whoa when things come out of left field,
having a game plan matters. Farmer's Insurance has ever ready
nine years of experience helping people play through every stage
of the game. We've seen almost everything, so we know
how to cover almost anything. Visit Farmers dot com. Are
Farmers all right? You saw him on Fox Sports One yesterday.
(13:21):
You'll see him a little bit later today on Speak
for Yourself. Uh. He's a long time NBA vet. He's
a So Call native who went to Boston College then
made good in the NBA. He's a former Clipper, He's
a former almost everything. Now he's Jared Dudley. He joins
us on the Doug Gottlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Okay,
(13:41):
so here's what I'm I can't figure out. How is
there such a disparity between different between games like the Wizards, Uh,
Celtics series, Jared have it? None of the games have
been close? Like how does the team go from losing
by twenty to winning by twenty? And please don't give
me home court advantage. That's a great question. I when
(14:04):
what the Celtics do have a really good home court advantage?
When I was there the Wizards. It wasn't like that,
to be honest with you, but I will say this.
I just say that adjustment period you make it after
getting blown out. You usually go back mad and watching
film and your preparation and your your energy on that
game is so high because you want to You're wanna
get blown out again. But to be honest with you,
it's been so lotside I can't tell. Yeah, it's really
(14:27):
really hard to tell. Okay, so are the Wizards done? Like?
Are we? Were you expecting seven? Like? I know, Avery
Bradley is not gonna shoot like that every night, but
at some point you put yourself in a hole and
you can't kind of dig out of it. What's your
sense of how to see how this series plays out?
I definitely see game seven, um I see them going back.
I see being close, though not a blowout by Wizards
(14:49):
by six or seven going seven. And to be honest
with you, I want I want the Wizards some pulling
for them. But if you, if I'm a betting man,
I'm going with Boston at home Game seven. Of just
how indicative this series is been and um Isaiah really
hasn't gone off since the fifty three he had um
and eventually you're expecting at least one of these last
two games in to play big. But if the Wizards
are gonna win on the road, Bradley Bill has to
(15:12):
play big. John Wall might be their best player, but
Bradley Bills are most important when especially when it comes
to winning road games on big shots. All right, so
let's get to what what you said yesterday, and I
believe with Colin Coward you said that that in order
or maybe was gonna speak for yourself. What in order
for the Clippers to get this thing turned around, what
you would do is trade Blake Griffin. Why because he
(15:35):
right now has the most value at all of them.
He's the youngest, He's probably the one that's directly in
his surprime um and now the age of the power
four is more spacing. With him and DeAndre clogsit cp
stow to me a top five point guard UM. And
with if you trade DeAndre, you wouldn't get back to
assets like the Lake Blake. You can get to two
(15:55):
or three good role players or maybe one rookie to
go with him like Boston, and it could be Jaylen Brown,
it could be average Avery Bradley and a pick Um.
He's the one I would because you eat the three
spots that they're they're in flux with that, and then
their bench you gotta upgrade. So overall, Blake gives you
the most value and I think they'll make you a
playoff team. Um, if not better. You mentioned the three spot.
(16:18):
I mean that the small forward. That's what they brought
you in for. Right, they brought you into be that
small forward. And Doc kind of bailed on your early Um,
why what what's gone wrong there? Why have why have
they been unable? And that's an incredibly important and versatile
position in today's NBA. What's gone wrong with with Doc?
At the the GM Doc the President of Basketball Operations Doc,
(16:41):
and that he hasn't accurately assessed what he needs of
that position. Well, so the first thing first with me,
I was hurt, so I couldn't be the same player
I was at that time, and I didn't have time
to go to get healthy. Uh So I struggled to
be honest, and everyone knows that when I was there,
and then they had Matt Bonds and they put so
much cap space and you know, CP Blake and DeAndre deserving.
(17:02):
But then now there's not allow of money to to
get to get the three spot because you're paying the
mall and j G all that money. But to be
honest with you, the biggest thing to me is with
Doc it's the system because it's CP driven the ball
the whole time and no one else gets a flow,
where as a small fourth when I when I shot there,
it's probably my worst three point percentage because you might
not touch the ball for seven eight minutes and now
(17:24):
you get it, now you have to shoot it. So
I prefer systems. If you see how Houston plays, San
Antonio plays Golden State even now the Wizards a ball
moving from side to side, So if you're not shooting,
you're still involved. So um, but Chris, but can Chris
Paul play that way? Isn't that not getting the most
out of Chris Paul? Like like he's a and I
(17:45):
understand he's a dominant ball handler, but that's kind of
how they play because that's plays more to his strength
than he doesn't play well off the basketball. That's true,
But I would say this for them to go the
next step. You saw with Steph Curry when they had
Mark Jackson, Curry was the point guard a lot of time.
We trapped them when they brought Curran. You saw Draymond
bring the ball up Curry. Curry now runs the wing
(18:06):
Durant one's doing. And so you gotta have versatility. You
can't have cp and and he's a good off the
ball shooter. Cp I was very surprised to how get
up a score. He was, so it's not like he
can't do it. But you got to instill that that
offense and show him the success that would be. And
then once he sees it, then you buy in. It's
fast and be interested to see what they do. Jared
(18:27):
Dudley joining us here on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Let's
get to the Spurs and the Rockets. If you were
the Spurs, would you has got a bad ankle? Would
you sit him rest and make sure he's right for
Game seven? Would you play him on the gimpi ankle?
I was having this debate with my boy. I would
sit him if Kauai can be the quiet need because
(18:48):
I think Houston's gonna win this game anyway. In my
personal opinion, uh so I want him to be wife
for seven at home. I need Kauai percent against James
Harted and it gives you an extra two days because
I'm mean, if if he's playing, he's gonna be Guarden James, right,
he's gonna be going through a honey picking rolls and
that ankle can be tested. Um, but let's be honest.
(19:08):
If Quiet said he can go out there, I trust
him because that was a freak. A dude is an
absolute freak. Okay. Then you have the Warriors Draymond saying, hey,
no disrespect to the Calves. They're playing well, but the
people they've played haven't really looked all that good. But
like this is pot calling kettle, isn't it? Like they
played Portland's Portland didn't have Nurkics, they weren't great. Uh.
(19:30):
Then they played Utah. Utah didn't have George Hill for
three of the games. Like, how could he criticize the
Calves competition to get to the conference finals and not say, oh, no,
by the way, the teams we've played having been at
full strength. Because Draymond, Draymond being Draymond, he just talks it.
It's it's entertaining. He uh, he definitely is that that
(19:51):
temperature for that team gets them going and likes to
stir the pot and I don't mind that. Oh boy, yeah,
he goes both ways. They'll be meeting up here shortly
with just we're just passing time. So that happens. Everyone's
waiting for that series. Um, and I had the Warriors early,
but Lebron, the way he's played, I could see it
going seven, him doing what he did again last year.
So um, but you know the Warriors, even if even
(20:13):
these teams world full strength, they're not beating him four
to seven. They're not doing that. The only team has
a chance is Cleveland. So uh. The only person that
can really set up Draymonds Braun he did last year
and we'll see this year. Yeah, um, you go, assuming
that series ends up happening, which is look, it's a
dangerous assumption because Andrews injuries can change things. But assuming
it happens. The general sense from a guy like you
(20:35):
who's been in the league for a decade is who's
the better team coming in? Better team coming in is
the Warriors. That being said is there are certain players
that come around once in generation. Even when you're a
better team, he can take over from a game or
two and even a series. And that's what Lebron can
do as good. As Kyrie is clutched in the fourth,
you have to have someone like Lebron to keep it close.
(20:58):
Someone like that, they can go into Oracle hard place
to play and win. He's done it without Kyrie and
Kevin Love that one finals, he did it with them.
So I'm picking the Warriors just because I think the
Durant in for Harrison bonds and that aspect, and I
just feel like the revenge and then getting it. But
I would not be surprised if Braun is Braun and
(21:19):
and it's basically on a mount Rushmore trying to pass
Jordan and does something historic. Do you think he could
pass Jordan's I think he can. I mean, let's be honest.
If he beats this team here now, I mean people
are gonna be talking about it that he's just one
step closer. Uh and and beating Durant to add it,
it just builds your legacy. And if you're in the
three peet, you'd be on this show talking about has
(21:40):
he passed them? So I know we're far far away
from there. No one thought he was gonna beat them
last year, the semi three win team, and if he
beats the super team, it's another good thing for his legacy.
Jared can't wait to talk more with you. You get
ready for go? Do you speak for yourself? Thanks for
joining us on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks for having me guys.
All right, that said Jared Dudley of the Phoenix Sun.
He's a two time member the Sun. He's with the Sons.
(22:02):
Then he went to then he came kind of back
home sorted with the Clippers. Was hurt, but did play
in seventy four games, wasn't himself. Uh, Then we went
to Milwaukee where he kind of revitalized his career, than
to Washington last year, then back to Phoenix. Now he's
like I was like an old head, right, but what
he said is is accurate. It is act. If you
watch the Clippers play every possession in which to which uh,
(22:26):
to which Chris Paul is in Chris Paul is dominating
the basketball. My counter to that would be, who else
are you gonna have handled the ball? Like they don't
the way in which Jared like when they have J. J. J. J.
Reddick is not a ball handler. He's just a shooter.
Like they didn't have anybody else who could really handle
unless you played through Blake. Yes, right, Well, that was
(22:47):
That's what I was gonna say. When Blake was healthy,
they were starting to try and involve his game a
little bit, whether it was with jump shooting, a little
bit more ball handling. Is it more along the lines
that the Clippers just haven't been healthy over a long
enough period of time to try and evolve that that
that's that's what, that's what what I I think there
can be some tweaks to the personnel, but I don't
(23:08):
think they've been healthy enough. I just don't like, I
don't think that Luke and Chardon Bammute is good enough
as a starting small forward. I think he can be
part of a good team, but I think like you
have to you have to have a lineup to which
when you're if you're gonna play Blake and play through
Blake offensively because he's a good passer. Now you've got
to have a line up you can go to that
has a lot of shooters. Their problem is the scoring
(23:30):
they had off the bench was Jamal Crawford, who's a
little bit long in the tooth and he has to
have the ball and he takes like crazy shots. So
they didn't have like a secondary lineup they could go
to where they could spread the floor around Blake and
he could kind of be the go to guy and
they could play small. They didn't have that, So the
pieces have to fit together just so. That's one of
(23:50):
the untold stories of Lebron Um and frankly of the Warriors,
Like they've done a good job, not just in and
and the Spurs. They've not just done a good job
evaluating talent, but the right talent to fit together so
that they have lineups that makes sense, lineup dexterity, if
you will. Jeff Van Gunny's weighed in on Lebron versus
(24:13):
Michael Jordan. Should we even be having this conversation? Find
out if we find out what's trending MM suppresion, So
Claint Claint Doug Gottlieb show Fox Sports Radio, all right,
(24:34):
So I don't I have not I've held off on
the Lebron Jordan discussion for the most part, even though
my TV brethren Nick right on Cowherd also radio calling
cow Herd The Herd on Fox Sports Radio leads into
this show on Serious x M Channel Lady three in
the I Heart app Even though they've engaged in it,
I kind of stayed away just because I I haven't
(24:55):
gotten to that point yet. I was never to the
point with Kobe and Jordan's it just wasn't. He wasn't
the best player on his team for the first three
of the championships. So like, I don't know how we're
having at Kobe Lebron, Like Kobe was never the wasn't
the best player in the league. Michael Jordan was the
best player in the league for a decade without a question,
(25:18):
not a question. And you're like, oh, well, he took
a year and a half off for baseball and he
came back out of shape and dropped a double nickel
at the garden. Come on, man, stop it. He led
the league in scoring with seven straight years. He could
have won the MVP n of these years. He was great.
He was He was a tremendous defensive player, especially on
(25:41):
the ball, but also made clever steels off the basketball.
He wasn't as versa. He wasn't as big as Lebron
Lebron is. He was great. It's great, and for my
money's best player I've ever seen play. I couldn't say
that about Kobe. Kobe was among the best players leagues
several times and might have been the best player in
(26:02):
the league one or two years. He did have some
of the Jordan characteristics where Jordan Earl in his career
didn't want to pass in big situations and he had
to learn to and playing for Phil Jackson in the
triangle became the best thing for him. But I also,
like I react to the league. I have a saying
which it goes like this, you can't fool players, But
(26:26):
is a deeper meaning to it than simply players are
smarter than they let on about their own sport. That
is part of it. I have a great amount of
respect Jared Dudley joined us. Like, I think I know
a lot about basketball, college, pro, high school, au whatever.
I watched basketball, But I can't tell you that I
know more about the NBA than Jared Dudley, who has
been in the league for a decade, right, Like he's smart.
(26:49):
Basketball players are smart about basketball, and they have a
They have a different feel for the league than anybody
even covers, like because you can't full players. But I
would also tell you that former coaches, analysts and players
former players in turn analysts, most of them know more
about and they have a kind of a better feel
for where we should be taking conversations. So Jeff Van
(27:15):
Gundy offered this on Zachlos podcast in regards to the
Jordan Lebron debate. The conversation is relevant right now. Wow,
that like open the door. That's like when you're you're
watching a show that has a cross examination, and the
whole thing is, you know, the lawyer wants the witness
(27:38):
to open the door to welcoming in testimony that otherwise
wouldn't be admitted in the court. Like, oh, well, you
open the door by saying this. Jeff Van Gutty opens
the door by saying the conversation is relevant. Take a listen.
The conversation is relevant right now, whether he wins another
championship or not. He's playing at peak prime production and
(27:59):
a fish and see this late in his career, the
conversation it's already relevant because I'm not gonna go as
much on on championships. But if you're gonna talk about
best careers, there's no way you can say it's not close.
It's close already. And if he runs off another two
to three years, like he's going out right now, you're
(28:20):
talking about seventeen years like this, it's it's gonna be amazing. Yeah,
it's it's going to be amazing if it happens. Right,
it's because he has some baggage to still climb out of.
Because he has some baggage to still climb up. So
(28:42):
I'm with you. He could he like it's the story
is not written. It's not you know, the the ending
is not written. The likelihood is the likelihood that he
continues on this pace is not likely, But it also
is likely that he should have broken down by now,
and he has Scott and Boise tweets the show to
me and Dan buy are too great? NHL hockey games
(29:05):
and you guys are talking about old basketball players. Yeah,
you know why, because nobody cares about hockey except d C,
and d C keeps having their heartbroken in a million pieces. Right. Oh,
here you go, breaking news the Washington Capitals, Washington. The
Washington Capitals lost early in the playoffs. Again. That could
(29:30):
have been recorded in two thousands, seventy. I don't know
if you guys know this. I actually recorded that back
when I worked at ESPN six years ago, and I've
just been using it every year since. Maybe I did,
Maybe I didn't. You know why one nobody cares about
hockey and too, well, that's a big one. And to
(29:50):
rule number one, nobody cares about hockey. Rule number two
that capitals always lose early. Rule number three, winning down
always refer to rule number one. I know the Ducks
one last night. I know that the Ducks coming from
behind in Game five was one of the most remarkable
comeback slash choke jobs in the history of sport. And
you know what, it didn't move the meter. They were
(30:12):
down three goals with what under four minutes ago in
the third period. I actually know these things. I love
Scott and Boise Like Scott, you do, I know a
ton about uh Boise State just lost their point guard today.
Paris Austin asked fast Forms granted his releases from Oakland, California.
(30:32):
You know I'm not talking about it because nobody cares.
When I say nobody, that doesn't mean you nobody. You're well,
actually nobody. You'd be nobody that you do care, but
lots of us are nobody's. That's not really what it meant.
I mean is the greatest majority of the listeners could
not give a blank less right. Preseason football games get
(30:55):
higher ratings. Preseason football games, which people cannot give away
their tickets get high our ratings than NHL playoff games.
I'm sorry, hockey guy, can't make it up. It's hard
to watch on TV. We don't follow the game. We
don't know the players. The star players are only on
the ice for like forty five seconds, then they're off.
There's a certain um randomness, two goals that go in
(31:17):
and don't go in, right, there's a lot of it,
and most of us didn't grow up playing hockey, so
we don't know the subtle nuances. No, it's not like basketball.
We all think we can go out and make a shot. Oh,
free throw, I can make that. Why can't Lebron make
a free brow? Like, you don't have that. So there's
a myriad of reasons that it doesn't translate. But dude,
(31:38):
doesn't translate. It's like I told my son's friend. My
front son's friend's dad was like, no, the numbers in
our town. More kids are signing fro lacrosse than baseball.
It's like, that's great, but you know what, let me
know when they start signing kids in lacrosse to thirty
million dollar year contracts. Bryce Harper is gonna sign for
four hundred plus million dollars is gonna happen across an
(32:04):
awesome sport school sport. It's like hockey, only outside, hard
to cover on TV. A lot of us didn't play
growing up. There is a professional league that nobody knows about.
And what was rule number one? Ramos, what was the
number one? Nobody cares There, you go, nobody cares about
(32:25):
blah blah blah blah blah. Talked about hockey enough. Alan said, okay,
Fox time to drug test, to gottlip show for mushrooms.
He just said, nobody ranks ahead of Elijah onan and
foreign player rankings he does Olympic gold medal, to European Championships,
World Championship, four NBA titles. Didn't say it was a
(32:49):
better post score, a more accomplished all around player. I
don't know. I always thought that we'd play sports and
keep score to find out who wins that ultimately, Lee,
it's about winning. If you want participation trophies, I have
seven and under soccer, baseball, basketball, football for you. But
(33:10):
otherwise we give championships two teams that score more points.
And when every team you're part of finds a way
to win championships, that says something about who you are
and what you are. That's how I evaluate players, especially
in the game basketball only has five guys in the floor.
Josh Gordon loves him some that that sticky ikey ikey
(33:30):
huh how much? So so much that the NFL says,
you're free to smoke it as much as you want.
I can prove it to you. Next, Doug Ott Leaves
Show brought you by a True Car. When you're ready

(33:53):
the phone number eight seven seven on Fox. Every day.
We're trying to give you, uh, reach into my bag
of goodies, if you will, where we may pull something
out that you haven't seen before. Whoa, whoa not that
that that that's private you suddenly, let's get into my sack.
Let's reach into godly sack. Dan Buyer is a standing
(34:15):
by Dan. What's inside myself? Well, let's see, we got
a lot of stuff. You're done, you know, a lot
a lot of stuff we've got. I'll take this one
psychic psychic, all right, welcome, I already actually knew that
was happy. Why is that because I'm psychic? That's very
very good. Then you may know the outcome of tonight's
Game six in the Western Conference Semifinals, but we'll leave
(34:36):
the drama for that. What I want to know is
will Kawai Leonard play tonight for the Spurs against the
Rockets with that sprained left ankle? Uh? The answer is yes,
he will play. Game time decision is it's like challenging
of manhood, right, Kawhi Leonard will play and he would
go and Kauai will play tonight. He's got that ankle.
He was at shoot around this morning and it bodes
(34:56):
well for the Spurs, who are up three two in
the series. Is the Rockets try to worse of Game seven?
You tease this earlier from the National Football League, Josh
Gordon is in the news, Okay, the NFL denying his
reinstatement today. He hasn't played in the NFL game since.
If you remember, he was reinstated a little less than
a year ago, but then decided to step away as
(35:16):
he was serving a four games suspension to start this season.
Will Josh Gordon ever play in the National Football League again?
It's interesting that he was not reinstated, Like, what hasn't
he done to get his life in order that they
would give him a shot. He's only he's still just
twenty six years old. I'm going to say the answer is, yes,
he will play again. Um, he keeps trying, he keeps
(35:38):
knocking on that door. And look, I understand that all
of this, you know, most of this is either alcohol
or weed related, and we're decriminalizing marijuana nationwide. But just
because it's criminalizes, I mean you and I can smoke
it before we go to work, or that you can
smoke it in the NFL. And he's got to get
himself clean enough law long enough to get the best
(36:02):
chance or of reinstatement. I do think he gets another shot.
I also thought it was a good sign last fall
when he chose to step away when when he felt
that he needed to enter that that clinic. But maybe
something has gone on between then and now that has
changed the National Football League's mind. He can apply again
in the fall. Also on Wikipedia, and I tweeted this
(36:23):
at Dan Buyer on Fox. The Wikipedia they always have
fun with, you know, when breaking news happens. There was
a little fun with Josh Gordon's um non reinstatement today,
moving on in the NFL, can Victor Cruz be an
effective wide receiver in the NFL? Again? I want to
know because Cruise apparently is going to meet with the
Jaguars in two weeks and could be reunited with his
good friend and former coach Tom Coughlin. Well, here's the
(36:47):
thing with Victor Cruz. Since he had the knee injury,
he obviously wasn't the same. But before he had the
knee injury, he had problems with the drops as well.
Victor Cruz is thirty years old, and uh he was.
He was great when he was playing inside. He wasn't
as good when they moved him outside. You go back
to last year, he only had thirty nine catches. So
(37:08):
can he be an effective wide receiver? I guess what's
your and they threw the ball a lot. He'll never
be Victor Cruz again, like the Victor Cruise, but never
be the Victor CRUs right, the the three hit Wonder
Victor Cruz, the eleven, twelve, and thirteen Victor Cruz. I
think he'll get a shot with the Jaguars. Do I
think he'll be an effective starting wide receiver. I do not,
(37:29):
Oh boy. LaVar Ball is in the news again, telling
an l A radio station that his son A Lonzo,
doesn't need any advice from Kobe Bryant. In fact, the
quote is, I don't need no advice from Kobe Bryant's
I don't need advice from Kobe Bryant. Zoe's got to
play his game. End quote. Well, Kobe ever now hearing this, ever, ever, ever, ever,
(37:50):
give advice to Lazo Ball after what LaVar Ball said.
If he's drafted by the Lakers, he will And I
remember this is the Dad and Kobe's game, LaVar's game
are different. But you can always take some stage wisdom
from the Mamba. Final one for you, Doug. Daily fantasy
such a big thing in the country. Bills failed in
Kentucky recently, but did move ahead in Alabama, in Minnesota,
(38:11):
and now there's this news. The w n b A
announced its partnership with fan Duel and will become the
first women's pro league to be available in the daily
fantasy sports market. Okay, is this good for the future
of daily fantasy sports in the United States. It's gonna
be really bad for the w n b A when
they realized the only thing people won't bet on is
the w n b A. It's I'll tell you what
(38:35):
I know guys who do it, and they always say
take the under. That's the there there's there's no there's
no true John that they say it's better to take
the under when you're betting in the w n B A.
And now it comes to the world of daily fantasy.
That's what's in my sack. That was Scott lead sack
that Uh, yeah, nobody. You know you have a problem
(38:58):
if you're betting on preseason foot all, w NBA basketball
or women's basketball in general. I mean you got like
that's one of those ones. Like, all right, that's how
I know if I have a problem. The way you
know you have, like a problem with alcohol or drugs
is when especially alcohol, if it's affecting your work. We
said that about Matt Harvey, right, if the alcohol is
the only problem and it's now affecting his work, you
(39:19):
have a problem. You have a problem with gambling if
you're gambling even daily fantasy on w NBA. Just this, um,
I have this weird thought. It's always blowouts in the
NBA playoffs. Is there an actual interesting topic out of
those blowouts. Find out next on Fox Sports Radio What

Juris familiar with what did Dan Buyers said. There was
some sort of blood clot that's bad. That's not good.
Blood clot is not not good. Like you start hearing
blood clots and it's in his shoulder. Um, yeah, you
(40:25):
could have a blood blood clots are bad anywhere, but
blood clot in your shoulder when you're a picture, Yeah,
that's really really bad. Remember he began the season with
the fifteen games suspension because of the domestic violence UH incident,
and he had what fifty one saves last season. He
struggled at times in the playoffs, but fifty one saves
(40:48):
Noah synderguards on the sixty day to say, was this
Matt Harvey's too drunk to show up to work? Right?
And Juris Familiar has a blood clot in his shoulder.
Outside of that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the show? Right?
Can I ask you guys a question? Ryan, it's going on? Doug?
(41:11):
Who's that? That's our new intern? Like? No introduction? No? Like? Hey, no,
he told him he can't talk to the host. He's
not allowed to talk to the house. What does this say?
What is this? A? Uh? What's this Steve Harvey deal? Hey,
that's our coworker you're talking about. Steve Harvey is not
our co where he technically works for the same company.
(41:34):
Technically he's working late at night. Did you guys hear
about the memo? What do you think about the memo?
John Ramos? Ramos, I think that if you have a
good relationship with your fellow workers, and you need some
time yourself and people are bugging you all the time,
then maybe you can, in a different way kind of
tell people, Hey, if you could just let me know
when you're stopping by, its pus it just roaming in
(41:56):
and sitting around hanging around with me all the time.
I honestly think, Okay, so now this is for the
Steve Harvey show, right, this is not for Family Feud.
It's not for the Little big Shots, which is a
great show. Um, and it's not for the Steve Harvey show.
Or he's also he's got showtime at the Apollo Revival.
Like this dude is. So he's super, super super busy.
(42:21):
He's super talented. I think he's the best family feud
host that there's ever been, and there's been some really
really good host He just has such great comedic timing
and he plays with the camera like, look, Steve Harvey
is so good that he could completely butcher the one
point one part of the Miss Universe paget that you
(42:41):
cannot butcher and keep his job. How does that happen?
Because it's Steve Harvey's that good. So he has a
memo that got that that came out public. Now there's
a couple of things here, right. One, no one ever
see these things from somebody else's perspective. Two, how things
(43:04):
are written and how they come across and print doesn't
translate tone. I get caught in this all the time.
I text a lot of people a lot of times,
and my friends I tell them all the time like
you may get me to I don't take tone like
call me if you're concerned about tone. And and three um,
(43:28):
I think we read things as written and maybe this
is tone, but we also don't we don't get a
true sense of what he's talking about. Here's what says.
Good morning everyone, welcome back. I'd like to think I'd
like you all to review and adhere to the following rules.
Notes and rules for season five of my talk show.
(43:50):
There will be no meetings in my dressing room. No
stopping by or popping in. No one. Do not come
to my dressing room unless invited. Do not open my
dressing room door. If you open, and it's capitalized. If
you open my door, expect to be removed. My security
team will stop everyone from standing at my door who
have the intent to see or speak to me. I
(44:13):
want all the ambushing to stop now. That includes TV staff.
You must schedule an appointment. I've been taken advantage of
my I have I have been taken advantage of by
my lenient policy in the past. This ends now. No more.
Do you not approach me while I'm in the makeup chair.
Unless I asked to speak with you directly, either knock
(44:33):
or use the doorbell. It's the doorbell. I am seeking
more free time for me throughout the day. Do not
wait in any hallway to speak with me. I hate
being ambush. Please make an appointment. I promise you I
will not entertain you in the hallway, and do not
attempt to walk with me. If you're reading this, I
mean you. Everyone. Do not take offense to my new
(44:56):
way of doing business. It is for the good of
my personal life and enjoyment. Thank you all. Steve Harvey
all right, Look, he's getting crushed because of it, and
I think there's a lot of good reason why. Um.
And we don't know what it's like to be juggling
a radio show, a TV talk show, family feud, celebrity
(45:20):
family feud, little big Shots, show Time with Paul. That's
a lot. And when you're funny, like people want you
to be funny all the time, and like, hey, dude,
I just don't want to be I can't be on
all the time. I'm not here to entertain you unless
you get paid. I need some quiet, needs some separation.
A man, is this very bad? Um? New intern guy
(45:44):
who I don't know your name. You're not allowed to
make eye contact with me. I don't know if you
guys know that I'm kidding, Oliver kidding. Um, I don't
have a dressing room, although when we're at Fox, I
do have a dress room. You can stop by any
time I prefer to you knock. I do understand that
sometimes there are people who you can't there are there
is the guy that you can't get out of the
(46:05):
conversation with, Like I gotta go, I gotta what do
you have to do? Not talk to you anymore? Right? Like,
don't you want to say that I gotta go? What
are you gonna do? Stop talking with you and start
hearing silence for birds, for cars, really any sound other
than the sound of your voice. Um, the problem is
(46:29):
in the not just the lack of the tone that's missing,
but it's actually kind of out of order, right like
had he started with good morning everyone, welcome back. I
really appreci First of all, there's no one I really
appreciate you being part of the show. This show is
important to me. You're important. Equally important to me is
(46:53):
my own personal time and some quiet time in between
when I'm working and and when I'm working various number
of jobs. I know this may be hard to understand
for you based upon your life, but in my life,
I value five minutes timids, even an hour of silence
away from the hustle and bustle when I'm in my
(47:14):
dress room. Uh, this has been taken advantage of, and
I understand it's been a lenient policy and I haven't
really cracked down on it. So this may sound terse,
but I think once we implement it, you'll understand and
we'll have a great working relationship in a great season.
And then you go into don't please, don't knock on
(47:37):
my door. I'm I have security if you're gonna try
and ambush me. Ambush is a bad word, right, It
almost you always feel like, dude, it's like, does he
think people are like the Viet Cong? And like hopping
out of the bushes. You're like, hey, Steve, say that
thing you said for me right? Make me laugh, man, Steve,
I caught that episode of a little Big Shots in
(48:00):
a lab. Yes, promos. You almost feel like he didn't
do exactly what you're doing now is give it to
somebody and say, can you take a look at this
real fast to see he had nobody proof free that.
It was kind of like he wrote it himself and said,
go and you actually did a great proof freed right
there of what really would have been a much better memo. Yes, yes, Ryan,
(48:20):
What are the chances he finds out who leaks that letter?
Because he can't be happy that that's out. There's no way,
there's no way. It doesn't affect him that that guy,
there's no question, and his his show tomorrow, whatever he's
got to, he's got to apologize for it. That didn't
come out as he intended. Right, He's basically gonna say
what I said, Go ahead, Maybe we should try to
(48:42):
figure out who it was top six answers on the board.
Let's let's find out who who whoever, who ever ambushed
it's who ever ambushed him. I won't give away who
it was. I will tell you though that so um
wait you know no, no, no, no, I'm gonna give
you a I'll tell you other things that I First
(49:04):
of all, I said this on Colin cow hurt choke.
Colin is the exact opposite. Hey, Colin's like, come in,
do do you ever need an app? Just come in here,
crashing my couch, like you know, I got clothes in there,
we got food in the fridge, Like couldn't be any better.
So if you think that like all Hollywood big shots,
you like this. Now, Oprah supposedly has a rule where
(49:26):
you can't make icon. Don't look at Oprah. She doesn't
ever make up on. Don't don't look at me, Like,
I don't know who these people think they are. I
just don't like who actually who like things like, yeah,
that's what I suppose, because somebody had to read through
this and go like, yeah, it's a good idea before
you press send. This wasn't like taped. It's it's there's
it's cap so like it's capitalized, right, So I mean
(49:48):
somebody typed it and then went back and highlighted and
then press caps and so it's all caps. Right. It's
not in your normal um it's it's in uh your
normal what's it called. What's the type of font? It's
like Times New Romania normal Funds. It's in different fonts, right.
It's like somebody like put and it's spaced out perfectly.
It's like two lines in between every every different little
(50:12):
Somebody took time to go through this and thought it
was a good idea. This is a bad idea. It's bad.
I do understand where he's coming from. You Yeah, I
mean yea. In this show that you do here for
three hours, you have got certain breaks during your segments
where you need to get work done. You need to
(50:32):
find out a topic that anything new happened. I need
to prepare something I'm not doing before the show. No,
but if things happened, the things happened throughout the day
that you don't want somebody popping in all the time
trying to talk to you thinking that it's it's small talk,
like your name is on the show, this says the
Doug Gottlieb Show. And maybe that's what was happening with him.
(50:52):
Where at any more, you know, extra opportunity or some
free moment, I have no question, da, I have no question.
That's where I said, like I don't. I actually totally
understand what he's talking about. Right Like when I was
at when I was at ESPN, I did not have
an office. Okay, I didn't have an office, and I
before I left, like one of my things I wanted
(51:13):
a negotiation was I wanted an office and they won
an office because I need like a printer or had
all this serious work to do, right, Like all I
really wanted was because I was doing college basketball and
Sports center stuff, and I fill in on every show
and then a radio show, and I fell on other shows.
Like I just kind of lived at the place from
sometimes seven three in the morning until seven three to night.
(51:34):
I just want a place where I could close the
door and nobody would bother me, and then like just
and or have a phone conversation. But I'll be walking
around and all you have there um for the most part,
until you kind of make it as you have, like
a cubicle and just just something so impersonal. Like my
cubicle was right next to my goaloks cubicle, and I
just always felt like like if I'm talking too loud,
(51:54):
like one goal that can hear me, but two you
just don't want to be talking too loud, go and
have a loud voice. Just not. Plus, cubicles are just
so nineteen seventies and eighties now if you walk into
Facebook or Google whatever, I don't know, cubicles, everything's kind
of open. It's communal, but there are side offices. So
all I wanted was in office. Now I had an
office at CBS. I had a nice office and a
(52:15):
nice view, and I did have we did my makeup
in my office, so I I actually shared it. I
always had people in it. We always had something on
TV and always had music playing. But I did occasionally
kick people out, like I did say like, hey guys,
I just I need to do the castanza and lay
down underneath my desk right or I just need nothing,
I need complete silence. Could you do you mind? Like
(52:37):
go find something to do? And I felt bad about it,
but I so I did. I I understand what he's
saying here, and I understand how popular he is, and
I can't imagine being as funny as he is. And
people always like they made me laugh and say that
thing you say and you're like, I just want to
have a coffee, read my script and prepare for my things.
But you would agree like this is a pr does Yeah,
(53:00):
if you sent that to us, it'd be like, hey, Ramos,
see what Doug set us? And then we mock it
behind the glass. Who would be the most likely Doug
since you leak? Yeah, yeah, you don't know. Then Oliver
(53:20):
the intern, he's trying to make a name. The best
addition to a show since Brady Munch by the way,
only John Ramos will get that one. Um, I've watched.
I watched Brady. Remember they added Oliver at the end.
I do not remember you see there you go, I
do not I don't remember that part. I don't remember.
I remember the turf backyard though, uhou Fields Turf by
(53:43):
the way. Okay, So, without naming names, one of the
things I found out yesterday was apparently his time slot
at Fox Sports Radio has been occupied by a lot
of people. You guys, you guys have seen kind of
a door. Can you can you tell me without naming
names the worst thing? So like, okay, I'll I won't
tell your name. There is somebody who I've worked with
previously at one of my two previous spots that, um so,
(54:08):
actually I'll tell you it was that ESPN. So at
ESPN when they built the buildings that they now do
most of the broadcasting from are called the they're all
digital centers, and there's two there's one when I was
there and that and though they have skywalks in between
buildings because the weather is so bad you don't want
to walk outside sometimes very similar here to the valley, right, Um, that.
(54:28):
But but the broadcast building and where you actually prepare
for the show are like opposite ends of the earth.
It is a good quarter mile run. I know because
I'm always late for things that I was running to
the studio and so one of the hosts forgot her
script one time there her and she gets there and
(54:51):
she realized she forgot her script, and she told her
producer she forgot her script, and they said, do you
want me to print another one? She said, couldn't just
one of the workers go by act and get it.
That's how she addressed people that she worked with workers,
And I was like wow, and everybody else heard it
and forever that was kind of mocked and mimiced. So
that's probably the worst I've ever been around. I did
(55:14):
have a coworker once tell me they were, uh, they
need a potassium right in the middle like of shooting. Um,
a show is like a taped show. Like my potassium
levels down, somebody get me a banana. So I've seen
some diva behavior, but never to the level of I
have a security team. They will remew move you if
you knock on my door and you're not invited. Uh, Doug,
(55:37):
I know you like to deflect a little bit, but
I'm gonna have to pull back the curtain. You're the
one who asked me to grab a banana for you
yesterday halfway through the show? Did banana? We we walked
to we walked to the Chicken place to get chicken together,
That's true. And we walked yesterday to to get Can
you remember my coffee order for Espresso's? Couple of pumps
at chai and uh the soy milk. Um, you're you're
(56:03):
you're really close. Yeah, I SPENTI quad espresso. That's four
shots of espresso, two pumps of chai sawy to the top. Yeah,
it's like a filthy dirty chi if you will. Uh,
why why are the Celtics and the Wizards? Um? How
do we have this wide variance between home and road?
(56:26):
We'll take you to Boston to find out. Plus, will
Kauai play tonight? And can Houston shoot the ball? Well?
Two games row? That's what they're gonna have to do
in order to win this series. Take it to Houston.
Take you to Boston with true car, you can find
out what other people in your area paid for the
same car you're looking for on average, save over three
thousand off M S r P. We're looking for a
(56:47):
new or used car vis a True Car to enjoy
more confident car buying experience. All right, no one will
disturb me for the next five minutes. That's next. Broadcasting
(57:22):
Doug out Leave Show, Fox Sports Radio x M E
E three Tell your Friends podcast every Day we tweeted
out we put up on the Facebook page. Um I
heart app. Also you can listen to it so like
you're hopping out of your car, like I can't take
DG with me because I know he's going to Boston
Houston a moment. Don't worry, my heart app. You can
(57:42):
take it anywhere. You can use your show, you their minutes, us,
your WiFi whatever. You're still good. Remember back when we
you first had cell phone, your first cell phone, Mine
was that Nokia Deal and it was like five hundred minutes,
like fiveder minutes, like I'll never use that up there,
you get the first bility, like wow, that one really
went fast. Then the first time there's unlimited minutes, like
unlimited minutes, I will never top out. I know what
(58:04):
I'm gonna pay, and they're like, oh wait, there's data charges.
Always get always get you for stuffing. I need a
guy for We don't know everything, but we know people
that know what you want to know. You know, it
sounds like you need a guy. I got a game,
(58:27):
all right, I got people everywhere. Let's go to Boston.
Adam Himmel's bach joins us Celtics beat right for the
Boston Globe. Adam, can you help me out? Like these
two teams are tightly matched, but every result is a blowout.
How help me out? Why does this keep happening? Yes,
I'm pretty bizarre. I mean Game two even know it's
(58:49):
the ten point games all of the stuff that went
to overtime, so really that's like a tie basically. But yeah,
otherwise it's been ten points or more every game, and
the home team has won every game, not only in
this series, during the regular season, to all nine games. Um,
you know, these teams, the Wizards have a pretty big
discrepancy there a lot better at home. In the Celtics
were pretty good road team all season, but they've gotten
(59:11):
just pummeled in these two games in Washington. Um, so
you know, I wish there was an easy answer, but
obviously the home court has played a pretty big role
in them. Okay, So last night, what do you think
was the big Obviously Avery Bradley shot the eyes out
of the basketball. I thought that was their transition from
defense to offense, that they were leaking out nobody Washington
(59:31):
had nobody back. Anytime John Waller, Bradley Beale, or Brandon
Jennings would drive, they would go and get a layup
at the other end. Uh. What did what brad say
about how they were able to just explode for what
was its sixty seven points in the first half. Yeah,
especially early on, like every time Wizards player took it
to the rim, it seemed like they fell. They ended
(59:51):
up like under the hoop, and their layups missed, and
that led to leakouts, like you said, and like Scott
Brooks talked about afterwards, he was like, look, when one
guy doesn't get back, you're finished. And when another team
that maybe hasn't been shooting all that well starts pouring
in layups, they get confident, they start feeling good about themselves.
And then, as you mentioned, Avery Bradley couldn't miss, and
that's what the self that's been waiting for kind of
(01:00:13):
another guy to get hot and take some of this
burden off of Isaiah Thomas and Isaiah. They use Isaiah
in some creative ways. Yesterday they used him more as
a screener, which they haven't done a ton of this season,
and he was able to find guys and this time
guys were able to knock down shots. You had Bradley
at al Horford, guys were sitting shop. Yeah, and he
used a mere Johnson the starting line up. So Brad
continues to kind of evolve and change. It's interesting to
(01:00:37):
see what what they do next. Adam. We'll look forward
to catching up with you ll see what happens after six,
maybe another game seven, getting ready for the Eastern Conference Finals.
Thanks so much for being our guy in Boston. All right,
enjoy the games. I got a guy, got a guy
in Houston. Brian Smith, Houston Chronicle, as the Rockets welcome
in the Spurs after what you could only determine was
(01:00:57):
a missed opportunity. Had Lee most of the game, lose
to the lose to the Spurs who were without Kawhi
Leonard at the end of the game. Is that fair
to say, Brian, that was a missed opportunity for the Rockets. Look,
if the Rockets lose this series and when Tony Parker
went out, and I know that Tony Parker's at the
Tony Parker from ten years ago, and Tony Parker is
(01:01:18):
not the Tony Parker from three years ago. But these
are very even teams when you start to run all
the numbers, even even though they play different styles. Losing
Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard does not play an overtime. The
Rockets win Game one in San Antonio, blow them out
of the building, and you're gonna be that close. You're
gonna be up by five with two minutes left in
game five when the series can go three to one
(01:01:40):
way and you blow that game. Yes, they they regret it.
They wish they can change it. They obviously can, and
now they've got to win the next two to keep
their season alive. What do they think that Kwy is
gonna played an in or now? You know, Pop said
just to shoot around two hours ago. He's a game
time decision. He's got a very interesting decision to make
if he's in that you know, seventies five range. Kauai
(01:02:02):
was standing around at shoot around. That's all we be
able to see. You know, he caught a couple of rebounds.
He moved, you know, okay, but he wasn't running. He
wasn't running set, he wasn't trying to defend James Harden.
That's a totally different world. The issue is gonna be
do you play him when he says he's okay, which
I'm sure he will and he's versus do you rest
him for four straight days and have him as close
(01:02:23):
to as possible with a springed ankle for Game seven
in San Antonio? So I think that's what it's gonna
come down to. Is he healthy enough to give it
a go tonight when they're already up three to they
do not have to have this game? Or do you
think that by rescue him two more days because they
actually have two days off before Sunday Game seven in
San Antonio, does that help you more big picture? Yeah,
I would probably say. I'd probably say you arrest him.
(01:02:45):
You know, you're playing with the house money. Uh, and
you arrest him so that he's fully healthy. Now the Rockets, Uh,
you know what necessity is a rude Vall invention. Because
of Nane being out, they've gone to this super small
lineup with Ryan Anderson at five. Is there any additional
adjustment that you see D'Antoni making head and forward. Well, no,
(01:03:05):
it's it's it's a it's a great point. It's a
good question. Everyone on Twitter is freaking out about seven
men rotation. Charles Barkley mentioned it. It's getting attention to
the local media and from the fan base. Here's the thing,
when you really break down the numbers, the Rockets didn't
really do anything different in Game five. Uh Kawhi Leonard
had the same amount of minutes as James Harden did
(01:03:25):
going into overtime, and Kauai didn't even play most of
the fourth quarter. Marcus Aldridge had more minutes overall than
three Rockets starters. What they ended up doing was very simple.
More minutes went to Clint Capella, who was already their
starting center. Then they made Eric Gordon their small four
when he usually their sixth man. So that has Ryan
Anderson as the center off the bench. So what they
really do is they split them minutes around and just
(01:03:47):
kind of, you know, had everybody in a seven man wheel.
It's not so much the rotation. It's two things. James
Harden at the start of games is having to defend
in the low post. The Marcus Alders and Pau Gasol.
And the other part of that, which you mentioned is
that you've switched up your rotation. It's now Ryan Anderson
off the bench instead of Eric Gordon D'Antoni said. The
rotation is going to stay the same. I think that
(01:04:09):
maybe out of necessity if if they get behind, if
he needs some energy, he goes with Montrese Harold or
Sam Decker. But that's really the only change you can make.
This was an eight man deep team. Uh. And then
they played a huge role for this team. If if
he doesn't trust a second year player in the playoffs
against Topovich, I understand that they might have to win
this series with seven and then extend the rotation if
(01:04:29):
they get banned against Golden State. Fascinating stuff. Brian Smith,
calumnist for the Houston Chronicle. Follow him on Twitter at
kron Brian Smith. Thanks for being our guy in age town.
Thanks Dug So you needed a guy, we got you
a guy. UH. Coming up next, Colin Kaepernick hasn't been
signed yet, But I'll allow you to express yourself as
(01:04:52):
to why you think Kaepernick hasn't been signed. Eight seven
seven Colin Kaepernick still out there playing GA. It is
not Brian Hoyer is not quarter back with the San
Francisco forty Niners. So all these other guys as signed
cap is not. Why do you think that is? Eight
seven seven nine nine on Fox. To get to that
(01:05:13):
after we find out what's trending. So Colin Cowherd as
uh we we shared this on Twitter here. Colin Cowherd
as a statement that he's put out for anybody and
(01:05:36):
everybody in regards to his dress room. Can I read
it to you before he takes some calls? Eight seven
seven nine nine on Fox eight seven seven on Fox.
Good morning everyone, and welcome back. I'd like to you
alter review and adhere to the following notes and rules
for the Herd. I'd love more meetings in my dressing room.
Please stop by. Everyone is welcome. I have physically removed
my dressing room door to provide easier access for all
(01:05:57):
if my if you open my do or you're hallucinating
because the door is gone, my security team won't stop
anyone from standing at my door. Because Ghouley is my
only security guarden. I have no idea where he is
right now. I welcome more ambushing that includes TV staff
and random homeless people and appointments, appointment walkins, welcome. I've
been taking advantage of by by leading in policy in
(01:06:19):
the past. This continues more. If I'm in the makeup chair,
please approach me by slapping me on the back of
the head. I am seeking less free time for me
throughout the day. Don't wait in the hallway to speak
to me. Say f the hallway and come in the room.
I promise I will entertain you in the hallway and
walk you wherever you need uh to, wherever it is
(01:06:40):
you need you wanted to go. Hell, I'll even drive
you to the airport. Need help moving? I have boxes. Yes,
I'd love to meet your parents. If you're reading this,
you this means you. Everyone, do not take offense to
my new way of doing business. It's for the good
of Christine's personal life and enjoyment. Thank you all. Calling
Calherd alright eight seven seven Nineine, fo, Let's give you
a chance to express yourself. Time to express yourself. I
(01:07:05):
expressed myself wearing Yelka pants. Called Doug eight seven seven
six three six nine. Aggie N. L Passo, you're on
the Doug Gottlib Show. Why do you think Colin Kaepernick
Cosson's hasn't inside yet. Hi, good afternoon. First of all,
as the military guy or retiree, I think it has
(01:07:27):
a little bit to do with that. No matter how
much how much you know, people want to say that
it doesn't because there's something that people don't go like
anybody who's an owner of a team, whether it be
amateur team, will it be professional college, you also have
to like the person. Uh. They have to be a
commodity within the locker room. As you know. I played
(01:07:47):
college ball and I played with with players that were outstanding,
but did not have that that locker room personality that
affects a team. Furthermore, furthermore, I think that owners are
realizing that maybe we are paying too much money now
to some athletes where every year we're able to draft
or or draft players that we can get for a
(01:08:08):
million bucks or what have you. So maybe there will
I see that they don't talk about that maybe the
money is so high now out there they're they're thinking
a lot of heck, do we need to pay somebody
six seven million dollars where we could draft to take
a chance on the player that third or fourth round
and yeah, pay him a lot less but I think
he I think, hey, I think his head does not
focus on football gap forbet and also a soul Kates
(01:08:31):
part partially focus on it isn't a good old bat
and that affects team and the Aggie and Doug Gottlib
show on Fox Sports. I appreciate the call. I really do.
UM a couple of things here, Augi's not wrong in
in this regard. I hang up on all you by
pressing that button. There we go. I want to hang
up on me. I want to hang up on him
(01:08:52):
because I don't have anywhere to go. I just want
to stop talking to him. Um, he's look go through
the teams and as much as you could say, well,
is he a better option right now than Christian Hackenburg
with the Jets, the answer is yes. But the general
manager of the Jets has his job on the line.
(01:09:13):
The only way he keeps his job is if Christian
Hackenburg looks like he has the upside to be a
starting quarterback or Bryce Petty is a starting quarterback in
the future and as a backup. Yeah, there's a reason
guys are Guys are the backups because they're fine, they
don't cost much money. They've been in every system, they
know the quarterback coach. They just um or they're young
(01:09:37):
and they think the coaches think they had the potential
to eventually be a starter. He fits neither of those.
Kevin and Cincinnati. You're on the Doug Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio. Hey, how how are you doing good? Um?
I think it's a combination of certain factors. Gilal Collins,
(01:09:57):
I think part of his political um have these rich
conservative gms who who have people that they by the seats.
They will probably be upset the first second. For a second, Kevin,
before you start, the general managers are not richer than
the players. Okay, so you're like, well, you have these
rich gms. Like gms don't make as much money to
(01:10:17):
the players. So like again if if, if, if your
point is and I'll let you like continue. If your
point is that the GM's answer to other people, that's fine,
but just characterize him. You have these rich gms and
that's why they're making that. That's that's not an accurate
assessment of the general managers. Go ahead, Okay, Well with
the owners owners, yes, owners are rich. Yes, they own
(01:10:38):
the team. I mean and also think it's because part
of the reason he's his quality of players went down. Correct, Correct,
it's it's not all. It's not all because he's I mean, like, look,
my assessment is there's people have forgotten that Colin Kaepernick
was only good for a year and a half, really
good for your and half. Then it was okay, and
(01:11:00):
then he got kept getting hurt. He heard his he
has thumb surgery, he had shoulder surgery, he had knee surgery.
Then he turned down the trade opportunity to go to
Denver to stay, and he wasn't healthy enough to compete
at the start of the year. And look, I don't
think anyone could have won with the Niners. But they
didn't win with the Niners over a two year period
(01:11:22):
and two different coaches, and then he opted out of
the contract. Here's never any level of accountability for anybody,
like you know what, Colin Kaepernick just isn't as good.
And there is some of that baggage politically from an
owner who says, you know, he was the kind of
a pain he asked before he got hurt, he always
(01:11:43):
had his headphones on, in a bad reputation, he's tough
to fit into our system. And then you have the
is he gonna protest. Is that gonna cause me to
lose a sponsorship? Tony in South Carolina? You're on the
doug Outlip Shop. Hey, what's up? Dog? Uh? Glad you
could make an edgy show this week? Um, I have
enjoyed it. The uh. The thing I was gonna do
(01:12:04):
was my impersonation of Clay Travis because he was talking
about it this morning. But but he already dogs me
when I call in, so I don't want to do
an impersonation. But he does have a good point, and
that is that your talent, if your talent exceeds your trouble. Well,
his talent clearly no longer does. You've just mentioned it
a year and a half and and he was surrounded
(01:12:26):
by good parts and and really he is more trouble
than he's worked. He's alienated himself to a lot of people. Yes, yes,
and and if if that's if you consider that being
I'll give you There's there's a person I used to
work with in sports radio a long time ago, and
he's been at several different places, and I think he's
very very bright, and I think he's actually pretty good.
(01:12:49):
But I can't mention his name in radio circles and
say you should hire him because nobody likes the dude
as a dude. And if you want to call that
being black bald, fine, but I don't think it's necessarily black.
But like it's hard for a sponsor to get it
around you, it's hard for a corporation to get around you.
(01:13:10):
The difference is that guy actually, I still think has
the same amount of talent, just his name has been sullied,
whereas Kaepernick, I don't believe it's the same player that
people remember that that people remember. So I do appreciate
your calls, though, who was the first guy gout? He
(01:13:31):
wouldn't just all you listen, you're gonna coll host? Let
me know and then oh man, listen if they asked
me to host Colin Cowherd show, I'm gonna host Colin
Cowherd show, I go where my boss is tell me
to go gladly like I took a vacation. Yet no,
I'm coaching it. Listen, this is a true story. I'm
coaching a team that's going to Israel. Okay, we're going
(01:13:54):
to be gone for over three weeks. I'm going to
be working doing this show from is real and I hope.
You probably won't even be able to notice. I don't.
I don't. I don't take time off just you know,
to chill. But I do appreciate the fact that you
were listening and I wasn't here. I think our Jonas
did a great job. Great job Ryan read the skipt
(01:14:16):
Jonas read, I'm kidding, kidding. We don't do any scripture.
Jonas isn't a scripted thing, right, It doesn't do that deal.
We'll always give you good product. Did you guys do
the Doug Gottlieb Show or did you do something completely
we did? We did the Doug gol you had. You
reached into my sack and all well, we reached into Jonas.
Jonas is sack, all right? Did he enjoy when a
sack was reached into almost as much as you do?
(01:14:38):
I do well my family, My family is away, so
I enjoy when when anybody reaches into my sack. Been
missing playing games like that, I know I have something
I have to read here here. It is when things
come out of left field. Having a game plan matters
FARTNS Insurance has over eighty nine years of experience helping
(01:14:59):
people play through every single stage of the game. We've
seen almost everything, so we know how to cover almost anything.
Visit Farmers dot com. We are we'll play what did
the Fox say as Shannon Sharp uh compared Lebron to
a different sports figure than I've ever heard him compared to.
(01:15:20):
But I'll give my thoughts. That's next Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio. We've already gone gone back to Callie
Kelly mm hmm eight seven seven nine nine on Fox
(01:15:41):
eight seven seven nine on Fox. Do you want to
co host the show? Don't call in. If you have
something short to get in, call the show. Well, we
might have a chance to pop you on. Richard Jefferson
essentially says what I said, only a nicer fashion about
Draymond Green. Get to that at the top of the hour.
In the meantime, I believe we have the best sports
lineup on television and radio now at Fox and Fox
(01:16:03):
Sports Radio. And if you listen on satellite radio you
can actually hear undisputed that's Shannon Sharp, Joy, Taylor Joy
is awesome, awesome, check um Joey Taylor and Skip Bayliss.
You can hear it from nine thirty two twelve on
Serious XM Channel three. UM and so they had any
(01:16:24):
interesting discussion will be part of what did the Fox.
Now Shannon Sharpe won TOPA Lebron James but not to
Michael Jordan instead to you saying both. I don't look
at whether or not. It's the competition. It's like anything.
When you great, you make you saying boat Are you
saying he doesn't have any competition when all these guys
(01:16:45):
are running slub nine eight. He's that great. He makes
them look like they running slow. Lebron is so great
that make it look like he ain't got no competition
at eight, giving folk the business um look, that sounds
great if there were guys that were running, if the
(01:17:06):
top players in the NBA were in the East. But
they're not, and they haven't been. They just haven't. Like
the Celtics have been in rebuild mode, the Knicks have been.
We were in rebuild mode and then they had Carmelo.
They had they had a year there where they were decent,
but outside of that they haven't been good. The Sixers
have been perpetually in rebuild mode. The Heat were only
good when they had Lebron. Outside of that, remember before
(01:17:27):
he got there, Dwyane Wade was hurt, and they were
down and went down then they were up, Like, who
are the other franchises? The Bobcats were a joke until
they got Kemba, and recently they've been a middling team.
Tell me the Toronto So it sounds great to say, hey,
Lebron's just that much better and he is better than
(01:17:50):
the competition, but the best players in the league have
been in the West for the last decade. Let's continue
with what the Fox said. Here's it's Skip Bayliss. I
believe he will be capable of five high level, Super
Bowl quality years. Well, if that's the truth, then Tom
Brady is going to be forced to finish his career elsewhere.
(01:18:13):
And the number one landing place for me, the one
that makes the most sense, is San Francisco. Now, I
don't know if the team's gonna get good enough, if
he sees signs of life enough from the team, But
remember he grew up in San Mateo, which is just
up the one on one Freeway, about fifteen minutes from
Santa Clara, and he came up through the Joe Montana
great years, the dynastic forty niner years. Parents still live
(01:18:36):
in San Mateo, sisters still live in San Mateo area,
so why wouldn't he want to finish back in the
Bay Area. I think it's a possibility. Plus Kyle Shanahan's
kind of a quarterback guru that he would if they
don't get their guide. The problem is that even though
the Niners are in rebuild mode, that they're more likely
to rebuild with a uh Sam Donald or or or
(01:18:57):
Josh Rosen next year, and they are with a forty
whatever year old Tom Brady. I don't think Tom Brady
has five years left. I would also, there's two teams
in Los Angeles. Tom Brady is gonna go somewhere. It
will be to replace you can replace Philip Rivers, or
to be the guy with the rams at Jerikov doesn't
end up being good enough, there'll be a place for
him to go. But I think those are the three
(01:19:19):
most likely landing spots when eventually the Patriots move on
for him. And that's what the Fox said. We don't
have a clothes for that. Bet Wait, Dinna close, don't
make God contact when you come in the studio. Richard
Jefferson has his own podcast, This podcast on podcast Crime.
(01:19:43):
So Richard Jefferson speaks out on Draymond Green speaking out
on the teams of the calves have played. That's next
in the Doug got Live show, Oh What Up? Doug
Gottlie Show. With True Car, you can find out what
other people you're paid for the same car you're looking
for it and on average stay over three thousand off
M s r P. Whether you're looking for a new
or used Carve is a True Car to enjoy more
(01:20:04):
confident car buying experience. Now the bomb Fry Um. It's
good to know smart people agree with me. And one
smart person is Richard Jefferson, who's, by the way, a
former Golden State Warrior and he has his own Have
you ever actually heard their podcasts? Because I don't like
that's how other people's podcast collins. I like obviously um
(01:20:26):
our podcast. You should download it, go to iTunes or
go to Fox Sports dot com. Don't forget to rate us.
You rate us like us, um you can we could
like climb the chart or something, subscribe to us all
that stuff. Anyway, Richard Jefferson has a podcast, doesn't He
have a podcast with um Channing Fry and they actually
(01:20:48):
have a There's Woe with Lebron which is really good
really interesting. And there's some other stuff with they're telling stories,
which is funny. Yeah, the the kyrieran flatter Earth deal
was that one was funny. So his most recent podcast,
he commented on Draymond Green's He comment on Draymond Green's comments, right,
so he comment, Remember Draymond Green had to say Draymond
(01:21:11):
Green at the at it was like a press conference.
I'm gonna say a couple of days ago, after Game four,
right after they closed out the Utah Jazz, he was
like both complimentary in sort of a backhanded way about
I guess the West while smashing the East, but also
(01:21:32):
complimenting the Cleveland Cavaliers. Here's what Draymond had to say. Um,
he said, I thought teams would compete a little harder.
I just watched San Antonio and Houston. I like to
watch good basketball. When you watch Cleveland play, you're only
watching one side of good basketball. It's kind of weak.
(01:21:53):
I like watching a good game, not necessarily that it's
going to be a close game. I like to watch
teams to play good basketball. When you watch you're watching
one team play good basketball and somebody else do something.
I don't know what that something is. So I'll tell
you what Draymond. Draymond actually commented on people's commentary on it.
(01:22:14):
But here's what Richard Jefferson had to said. Quote somebody
that decided to start a podcast after we did, wanted
to comment on the quality of teams that were playing.
Obviously talking about Raymond great, but this wasn't on Draymond's podcast.
This was Raymond at the at the days, which I
think is just not very nice because obviously we know
(01:22:35):
that Portland' and Utah have a what they've accomplished this
here just in general, I can imagine with u Nurkics
being out obviously Portland's wasn't it full strength? With George
Hill being out obviously, Utah wasn't it full strength, Mike
Conley being out a couple of years ago, not full strength,
Calves not having Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving at full strength.
So at the end of the day, to criticize what
(01:22:56):
other people were doing, I think it's just best that
you take care of whatever is in front of you,
but you should never criticize what other people were doing.
You should never criticize what other teams are doing. And
at the end of the day, if you're working with
an efficient group of guys that are handling their business,
then you should take it. But you should also look
and say, have we been playing at the highest level
of teams every single year, at everybody at full strength
(01:23:18):
before you go and criticize people. Oh that's a burn. Um.
I actually think Richard Jefferson is kind of invalidating his
own criticism by criticizing Draymond Green for his criticism. You know,
he's like, you know, look, they played injured teams, which
they did. Mean the year in which they wanted Drew
(01:23:40):
Holiday was hurt, didn't play first couple of games, Mike
Conley was hurt in several of those games. They didn't
play the Clippers, didn't play the Spurs, but they played
the Western Conference finals. They didn't have to play the
thunder Uh. They played the Rockets. And the only reason
they played the Rockets was because Chris Paul got hurt, right,
(01:24:00):
and somebody was hurt from the Rockets as well, might
have been Patrick Beverley. And then they went to the
finals and they did. They played against Lebron and Lebron
didn't have Kyrie played the first game but got hurt
and over time and they didn't have Kevin Love because
Kevin Loves separated a shoulder, because Kelly Olynnox a dirty player, right, Okay,
So but Jefferson simply pointing that out, and that's those
(01:24:21):
are facts, just like he's pointing out the Nur kitchen
jury is a fact, and the George hillingdry is a fact.
On the other hand, it is it's not criticizing the
effort of other teams, it's criticizing the quality of other teams.
Draymond has said, quote, I didn't say I was disappointed
with their competition. First off, people always want to take
(01:24:44):
a piece of a statement, say, ah, Draymond, the Calves
aren't playing anybody. They never said Draymond said, Cleveland's playing
great basketball. So everybody is chasing a headline the controversy.
Watch ESPN. It's like watching a controversial reality show. It's
pretty pathetic. That's what the headline everybody wants. But didn't
(01:25:04):
he kind of say that? I mean, I don't think
he's wrong for what he said about Cleveland, nor is
he necessarily wrong. I just think he could contextualize it better. Look,
I can say everything Draymond saying smarter and maybe less
like look, I think Cleveland has been playing great. I
wish those other teams were more competitive to give us
(01:25:26):
a better to give us we're getting ready, we think
we're gonna play Cleveland we get to the finals, to
give us a better sense of their strengths and their weaknesses.
They're just so much better right now than their competition
is hard to tell. Are they really that good? Is
the other team really that bad? Are they mentally better?
There's like so much it makes it hard to watch
the entire game. And I want to watch the entire
game because these are the best teams in our league.
(01:25:48):
That's not what he said, Yes, right, Isn't this sort
of go back to what we talk about with the
NBA playoffs. It's just a lot of it is about
who's just the healthiest at the end of the year.
Because the fact is, it's not so much that like
there aren't good teams, it's that a lot of these
teams don't end up being healthy, like the Jazz. I
(01:26:10):
think the Jazz could have had a much stronger showing
against the Warriors and maybe had taken a game if
they were healthy the entire time. If Gobert didn't get
hurt against the Clippers and if George, if if Blake
doesn't get hurt, the Clippers win that series. Okay, So
I mean there's the there's the butterfly effect, right, you
guys know what the butterfly factors? Rama? Are you saying
(01:26:33):
you know what the butterfly effectors and you really know
what it is? Or you don't? I mean just I
mean I've heard the term, I perchaonally don't know what
it is, but I've heard the term. Yes, Okay, So
the butterfly effect by by by definition right? Uh? In
chaos theory, the butterfly effect is a sensitive dependence on
the initial conditions and which is small. Change one state
(01:26:55):
of the deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences
in the later state. In other words, had this had
had a not happened, b C, D, E F G
would not have happened. Right, It's the butterfly fact Had
Blake Griffin not gotten hurt, the Clippers would have beaten
(01:27:17):
the Jazz. If the Clippers beat the Jazz, that would
have been a contentious and more challenging series for the
Golden State Warriors. And instead of talking about how non
competitive when they the Calves were they would be worried
about a fight of their own, a war of their own.
We have also have a better sense of what to
do with the Clippers. Do the Clippers really have the
(01:27:37):
potential to keep this group together and to win? Or
should they blow it up? But all these things we
don't because of that one injury butterfly fact. If one
that one little thing changed, um, so many other things
in the future would be different. It's back to the future,
right number Back to the future had what was the
(01:28:00):
dad's name? Martyr Marty was the character's name, But was
his dad's name? Mr? McFly? Come on McFly? George George McFly?
What was the what was the no? Not biv um?
What was the mom's name? I remember this Lorraine. George
(01:28:25):
and Lorraine were supposed to meet because George was peeping
in on Lorraine through a tree through her window. He
was in a tree through her window, and then he
fell out of the tree and got hit by a car,
and then she took him into the house. But instead
Marty walks in from the future, sees his dad up
there as a peeping tom, says something to him, and
(01:28:46):
then he instead gets hit by the car. Lorraine instead
takes care of him, then falls in love with him,
and then he has the whole thing changes. That's the
butterfly effect. Remember, like his arms disappearing while he's playing guitar,
and then i'll and they kiss and his arm comes back.
Then he rocks out and then he freaks everybody out. Says,
your kids love it. Ramis you big movie guy? Okay,
(01:29:10):
are you like a Back to the Future as a
top ten all time guy? Because that's all my movie?
My movie people say it is. I do love all
three Back to the Future movies. Yes, the first one
is amazing, really remarkable, a remarkable piece of cinema, like
it was. It's a I just can't put it in
my top ten because I don't think it's that it's
(01:29:32):
it's a great movie. There's some entertainment, but I don't
I wasn't entertained the whole time. I don't. Yes, Ryan
is Back to the Future similar to Kirk Cousins second
tier movie, second tier quarterback. I think we're having too.
There's two different discussions about Back to the Future. Is
(01:29:53):
it is it entertaining and engaging and funny and interesting
throughout or is it an incredible piece of movie making.
Like what they were able to do was incredible, Like
they created like the storyline first, they created five they
created right, and they both end up fitting the time periods.
(01:30:20):
Like it was really interesting what they did. Like the
technology was super advanced for the time of filmmaking. The
acting was good. Was some of the cheesy, but it
was meant to be kind of cheesy because it was
meant to like be a snapshot of the earlier era.
And then was it like Usual Suspects is a better
movie for me? Like I was gripped by six cents?
(01:30:40):
Was I didn't know they were he was dead in
six dies. You guys know he was dead and I
didn't until the end you knew the whole time. Um, So,
like those movies were better to me. But movie guys,
they're like, dude, Back in the Future is a top
ten all timer. So I don't think that's like Kirk Custins,
(01:31:01):
I don't. Um. I could find a parallel for for
for Back to the Future quarterback wise, but that's off
the top of my head. Anyway, we're talking abterfly Back,
which was a movie by the way, let's let's circle
it back. A movie called which that happens. He tries
to change things, and every little thing he tries to
(01:31:23):
change affects something else that he doesn't want to happen.
Ryan's point was a smart one, and I think I
said this on this show when I first started. I
know I've said it previously in the in the in
the NBA, more so than any other sport. In the NBA,
more so than any other sport, who's healthy is the
(01:31:45):
biggest determinant in who wins championships. Like what ultimately brought
down the Boston Celtics with Larry Bird and Robert Parrish
and Kevin McKay, Larry Bird's back, Larry Bird could not stay.
That's it. That's what brought that that team down. Um,
(01:32:06):
what brought down the Lakers was the health of the Lakers.
Byron Scott was hurt one year. Uh, you know, they
had others. You know, obviously Jabar got old and where
they got old, but I'm talking of they had actual
injuries that were that that brought them down. The Detroit
Pistons had injuries that brought them down. Like when the
Lakers and the Pistons met up in the finals, one
(01:32:30):
Larry Bird wasn't healthy. That's why the Pistons beat the
beat the Celtics. But also whoever was healthy won those series.
And then like the last Lakers latest three pet when
they lost, Yes, Kobe and Shack hated each other, but
like Rick Fox got hurt, Karl Malone got hurt. So
(01:32:51):
if you look historically, health is a big determinant who
wins the NBA Championship. That hasn't changed. Um, I would
only say this, like, uh my, I like the fact
that Richard Jefferson isn't mentioning Draymond Green by name, but
he shouldn't if he wants Draymond to completely go away,
(01:33:14):
he shouldn't ever have to talk. He shouldn't ever mention
what Draymond says, Like if somebody brings up a Draymond quote,
you just go, I don't know who that is. I
don't want to talk, like if that's the only way
to get Draymond to go away, And like what Draymond
saying actually is not he's not actually wrong and he's
(01:33:37):
not actually being critical of the Calves in any way,
but he's also not This is my problem. This is
why on Con Coward Show I called him a hypocrite
because he's he's being critical of the other conference, but
not being critical of the effort that he's of the
teams that he's playing against, Like you tell us bad.
That wasn't their fault. They didn't have George Hill. I
understand you don't have your point guard. You got a
(01:33:59):
lot of youth in that foster. It's a bad matchup
for them. Should have played the Clippers. Portland was disappointing.
Did they have Nurkics? They weren't great. But the problem
with Raymond is he calls out other people for the
things that he's doing, Like Kelly Olynnock. He calls out
(01:34:21):
other teams for the things that his team is doing,
playing great but playing against inferior competition, and by his estimation,
Toronto didn't give the effort effort. The word effort is
just code, just go all right. Up Coming next, Dana
White has uh UFC two eleven upcom this weekend, but
(01:34:42):
there has been a big change on the car. George St.
Pierre is a no go. How did Dana come to
that decision? And when will we see GSP in the octagon?
Find out Next Doug gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. When
(01:35:03):
things come out of left field. Having a game plan
matters Farmer's insurances. Over eighty nine years of experience helping
people play through every stage of the game, we've seen
almost everything, so we know how to cover almost anything.
Visit Farmers dot com. She's the president of UFCS, Dana White.
He's joining me now on the Doug Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio. UFC two eleven is on Saturday, just
(01:35:26):
a couple of days day Net. Look, before we get
into great card you have with two eleven on Saturday,
I want to ask you about this latest story regarding
George St Pierre. So, like you reported on I think
Fox Sports Australia that you're moving him from the fight
with Beast being Um, you're you're moving him off that fight.
(01:35:47):
Like what actually took place with George St Pierre, Well,
nothing really took place. He just came out and said
he's not ready till November. He's not ready to fight
till November. We can't wait till November. You know, business
is gonna fight before that. But um, when I say
we're moving on, that's that's the business fight. You can
(01:36:08):
pick anybody else, you know, anybody else on the roster
for November and will make the fight happen. Okay, so um,
I know he's gonna face the number one contender and
you'll you'l Romero. How does how does it change? I
mean like, look, how does this fight change without Gesp
in it? Um? I don't know. I mean Gesp. Gesp
(01:36:31):
hasn't fought in three years. You know, Yo, Romero is
a beast to Romero is a straight killer. So um,
you know, Sir Michael Business would much rather fight GSP.
I know, but you have to think like he's prepping,
he's thinking like at least he has he knows who
he's prepping for, like some of these fights. I'm just
(01:36:51):
wondering if it, if it, if Bisping had now has
the out of which, hey, I was prepping for a
different guy than end up seeing in the octagon. Well,
he wasn't even training. He was actually out and filming
a movie in Asia and then uh had to handle
some personal stuff in the UK. So he's just getting
back in the country here in the next couple of days.
How good a shot does Jessica And she's got a
(01:37:15):
good shot. She's very tough. If that fight stays on
its feet, she can she can punch it out, but
I think she's gonna try to go to the ground
and try to submit Joanna on Jaychick, who is you
know right now? This will be her fifth title defense,
one more if she wins on Saturday and she ties
Rondo Rouses record. She is as technical a fighter as
you will ever see in any combat sport. She has
(01:37:38):
unbelievable killer instinct. When she smells blood in the water,
she goes in for the kill. How do you get
her to that place to where mainstream America buys in
the way they did to Rhonda right Like Rhonda wasn't
a technical fighter she is. How do you get that? Yeah,
some people have a different path than others. I mean
(01:37:59):
if you look at the you know, the meteoric rise
of of of Connor McGregor and Ronda Rousy doesn't work
that way for everybody. Chuck Widell, who is one of
the biggest superstars in the history of the sport. I
mean that guy fought forever four people started to notice
Chuck lidelf So not everybody has the same path. She
stays on the past she's on right now. I have
(01:38:19):
no doubt that you want to you known, Jay Jack
is going to be a big, big star UFC two eleven.
You have a bunch of coin flip uh, you have
a bunch of coin flip flights. I mean, there's an end.
I look at this card and the one that that
jumps out at me is your Rodriguez at um is it?
Is it meat like Edgar's? Edgar has to bring it
because that kid, am I. I'm not the only one
(01:38:41):
seeing that, am I? No? This is one of those
classic fights where the up and coming kid that everybody
thinks is the next big thing is taking on the
number two ranked guy in the world, who's a beast,
former world champion in a hundred fifty five pounds. You know,
if you're Rodriguez can beat Key Edgar this weekend. You
(01:39:02):
got a star in your hands. But boy, let me
tell you it's gonna be a It's a tough task.
You're fighting a cold, dude, Is that what I'm here?
A little sniffling? There's an allergies or the cold you're fighting.
Oh man, I don't know what it is, but it's
driving me crazy. Yeah. I mean, listen, you're doing all
this promotion stuff and and traveling over the world. Dana
White joining US President of of UFC. Um. Okay, so
(01:39:24):
you said that g SP said he's not gonna be
read until November. But that's not you don't want him
to fight November? Like what if if now November? Huh? Yeah,
he can fight November. He just can't fight Michael bisbeing
in November. But but like, isn't July much more reasonable
for you? Isn't that much more of a you know,
isn't that when he should be fighting? July? Is what
(01:39:45):
I would like? Yeah, that would be great, but you
can't always get what you want, you know what I mean.
I can't get him in July. He can't get there's
being in November. So you know, it is what it
is for both of us. What about Bones Jones versus
Cormier in July? Bones Jones versus Courtnier is as the
end of July? I think it's July twenty nine and Anaheim?
(01:40:06):
Is that that is? That? Is it fair with with
McGregor and this Mayweather thing kind of on the whole,
but him not fighting right now? Is it fair to
say that's kind of your next big super fight? Like
this this card has all these coin tosses really good,
like you're not gonna be able to get up and
get a snack because you're gonna miss a really good fight.
Whereas in terms of in terms of the huge top
(01:40:27):
of the card, is that the next big super fight
that's out there? Um? Yeah, the next big super fight
without a doubt is uh Jones, Cormier, Dana White join us.
What about the McGregor Mayweather thing like that? They lost
the date? At some point do you just go, hey, dude,
come back in the octagon? Like, come back? I don't know.
I mean, I know you've been a huge supporter of this,
(01:40:49):
but isn't at some point you go like, let's this
is not gonna happen. It might not be good. Let's
just do what you do best, Like, let's this is
this is where you're great, this is where we all
make money, we all have a lot of fun. Have
you gotten to that point? Well here, yeah, Well here's
the problem. The problem has been on mine and McGregor's side.
Me and McGregor haven't got what we needed to get
(01:41:09):
done on our side. And it's because the guy has
been having a baby. So you know, anybody who's that
baby knows leading up to the baby, now he had
the baby. You got a few days of aftermath after
you have the baby, and I plan on having something
done on our side by this Sunday. Now, if that
gets done, and let's say I go into the negotiations
next week with the Mayweather teams, are just a total nightmare, Dana.
(01:41:36):
When you said we gotta we're gonna get something done
maybe this Sunday, what does that? What does that mean?
Tell me? Give me without going into details that's uncomfortable
for you. Give me what you're talking about in terms
of what you two need to get to them uncomfortable.
We're gonna get our side done, hopefully by this weekend.
We get our side taken care of this weekend, then
I go into negotiations with Mayweather to get um to
(01:41:58):
try to get the deal done. And if that deal
is a nightmare and it's hard to deal with, and
and and and and it seems impossible, yeah, that then
I would walk and start focusing on my business. This craziness.
How quickly could he turn it around to be ready
to fight back in the octagon if the if the
boxing thing doesn't work. One of the one of the
(01:42:18):
reasons that Connor McGregor is a massive superstar and and
who he is that guy? Lots of people like to
say it, very few, Uh is it true? He will
fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. He's always ready to fight. Um
McGregor is that guy. So Uh, he can go either
way you can, whether he's boxing Floyd or he's gonna
(01:42:40):
come back in and defend his title or whatever it
may be. Connor. Connor is the man when it comes
to that. Alright, let's get back to your card upcoming
May thirteen, that's a Saturday. Uh, that's UFC to eleven
and Mayo chis top of the card. This is second
consecutive talent defense. He's going against Do Santos. How do
you see that fight going? Yeah, the first fight was
(01:43:03):
a five round war. Since then, steep A Mio Jack
has gone on a tear knocking out everybody, including the
former heavyweight champion, Uh, Fabricio over Doom. He won the title.
Then his first defense he knocked out Alice Star Overream.
He is not the same guy that Santos last time.
UM and Junior. Do Santos has great takedown offense, has
a rock chin and heavy hands. I do not see
(01:43:24):
this going five rounds Um. I think this This fight
ends either way by knockout. And one thing that I
would like to point out on the prelims, the main
event of the prelims, we have Eddie Alvarez versus Dustin Pourrier.
And normally our prelims are on Fox Sports One. Our
prelims are on f X. We're on f X this Saturday,
not Fox Sports One. Or that's the lightweight division. That
(01:43:45):
should that one should be awesome as well. We already
talked about great Rodriguez and Edgar. That's such a such
a really really good card. All right, Dania, enjoy this weekend,
get rid of whatever you got man. Take that night, quill,
get a good night's sleep, wake up, get those have
a great day. All I appreciate their Dana. Jared Dudley
on if Kawai Letard should play tonight that after we
find out what's trending. Have yourself a bia Doug Gottlieb show,
(01:44:14):
Hoo hoo, Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. You can
listen to us on the I Heart Radio app. Some
of you and listen, you know you listen on Serious
X and Anybody's like, oh I don't get the third hour,
third hour on all our Fox Sports radiophiliates with the
I Heart app serious XM carries speak for yourself on
most days, not all days, most days anyway, A little
(01:44:36):
real big fish for you, man. We got a lot
to get to. Let's let's get after every story we
can think of. Just just throw the kitchen sink at
it with the press, the press, Dan Buyer, we remembered
his wedding ring today. Congratulations only fell off once. Sure story,
I wouldn't lie, I wouldn't lie. But it's on. We're
(01:44:58):
ready to go though the hot stories happening right now. Um,
you went to Jared earlier. Did you know that that
you went to Jared earlier in the show. We're talking
about Jared Dudley of course. Yeah. Sons Forward, an NBA
vet joined you on the show to talk about a
variety of things in the NBA and specifically about the
two series that are going on right now. We'll start
off with the game that's tonight, Spurs Rockets Game six,
(01:45:21):
and the question is what do you do with Kawai
Leonard if Kauai can't be the quiet need Because I
think Houston's gonna win this game anyway, so I want
him to be wife for seven at home. I need
Kauai presume against James Harted, but let's just be honest
with quiet. Think he can go out there. I trust
him because that is a free sitter. Or start Kauai
(01:45:43):
letter tonight for the Rockets. I would sit him. I
would actually like, look, Pop has done this throughout the
season where he plays kay with people sits guys full rest,
load up at home. That's your best shot to beat Houston.
And there are times when your backups end up that
they've won some of these games which they've sat. There's
seven and one without Kauai litterer in the year. They
also don't have um uh Tony Parker as well for
(01:46:07):
the remainder of the season as he tour his quad tenant.
But I would I would sit him considering they need
a Look, you're gonna need Kauai for next series. Like
it is, you lose this game, try and win a
game seven at home. Make Houston beach in your own den.
About Jared Dudley's thoughts on these Celtics Wizard series, which
(01:46:29):
is up three two in this Washington team now goes
back home trying to keep their season alive. You guys
touched on this earlier on some of the Wizard stars,
specifically John Wall and Bradley Beale. If the Wizards are
going to win on the road, Bradley Bill have to
play big all right, John Wall might be their best player,
but Bradley Bills are most important when especially when it
comes to winning road games on big shots, Bill the
(01:46:51):
most important Wizard there is, uh No, I mean, like, look,
I think they're all what what you're saying is you
can't do it by yourself and John walla's jump shot
can come and go, and so that's kind of how
he's trying to legitimate. No, I think John Wall is
the most important Wizard, but I think he almos just
pointing out that Bill got lit up at the defensive
end to last night, so his play and young guys
(01:47:14):
and brad Bill is still really young. I think bred
Bill still only twenty three years old, twenty four years old.
When they make shots, they play better defense. That's why
he becomes He's very important, but he's one B to
the one eight that's John Wall. Like, I know it's
not the topic of conversation, but I've been on this
for months. Imagine if Kevin Durant was on the Wizards.
I mean, just just think of how different this NBA
playoffs would look with what we would have in the East,
(01:47:38):
maybe have more anticipation for a conference final. Durant wouldn't
have gotten the flat that he did for going to
Golden State because he could say he was going home.
I just looked back and say, oh, what could have been.
It's it's actually, it's actually a really really interesting point
that I mean, because you could play a small lineup
with Otto Porter and Kevin Durant and and more sine
(01:48:00):
Go Tot like that is a as a really or
you could play Marcith Morris at center as well, like
a lot of versatility. Oh but you want to play
for the Warriors, which it just proves. I've always said
that there's actually more sacrifice in what Durant's doing than selfishness.
Mets reliever jury is familiar out indefinitely with an arterial
clotton is throwing shoulder. More tests will be needed on
(01:48:23):
that shoulder, and surgery remains a possibility. Some more bad
news for the New York Mets. You believe in karma,
Hey do I do? Guy beats a woman gets fifteen
games comes back, has a colotton his shoulder. I don't know,
you'd be the judge. Angel skipper Mike Socialists outfielder Mike
Trout could return tonight against Detroit after missing five games
with a hamstring strain. Your angels and Ryan Music's angels
(01:48:46):
could be getting a little bit healthier. Yeah, they're still
not very good. I mean, it's it's crazy on how
much they're a one man team. Oh gosh, yes, I mean,
I like, I've never seen anything like it what it
is kind of there's sventd and nineteen. Obviously he's been
out the last five. They lost three out of the
last five, but like, have you seen what he's doing
(01:49:06):
this year? Like Bryce Harper is better statistically, but Bryce
Harper is also surrounded by better town. His ops is
one point one four six is war is two point four.
Now he's his war two point four. No one on
the team has a war higher than point five. No
one on the team has a war higher than and
that's Yanil Escobar. They are terrible. I think I think
(01:49:28):
it's amazing as well. Pooh Holes is four away from
six hundred and no one cares. No one's talking about it.
Nobody cares, you know, And look St. Louis did the
smartest thing ever, right. They offered him enough money to
save face, but not so much money that he'd stake.
How about this, The a c C and Notre Dame
have released these schedules for the Fighting Irish. You know
they've got that deal with the a c C where
they will face five Atlantic Coast Conference opponents in college football. Basically,
(01:49:52):
they're an a CEC team without having to be an
a SEC team. Yeah. Well, these schedules were just released.
Future schedules for the sixth season all the way through
the twenty seven season. So yes, we can celebrate John
Ramos's retirement from radio on Labor Day nights when Notre
Dame is at Virginia Tech. And in seven, yes, in
(01:50:14):
twenty years from now, we know that Notre Dame will
be at Clemson, Syracuse and Awake Forest, with Miami and
NC State traveling to South Bend with players that are
not even born yet. That's amazing, that's amazing. They'll all
be in the same You know, there's there's somewhere in
America future schedule guy is called and go Paul, Paul,
(01:50:38):
uh have you seen these future schedules from Notre Dame
and notice that they're duck in the they're duck in Alabama. Well, Doug,
I don't know about you, but in seven I got
Notre Dame at Clemson wins. You got you gotta do
like that's a win. That's go ahead, Read read the game.
Notre Dame at Clemson, Miami at Notre Dame, stand at
Notre Dame, Notre Dame at Syracuse, Notre Dame at Wake Forest.
(01:51:02):
Johnny Johnny lu Jack, Johnny Lujack would have a Yeah,
who was it? He was gonna win two Higsman trophies? Uh?
Was what was the quarterback that that pas Ron Paul
is gonna win two Higsmer trophies? Didn't John Romo's happy retirement. Finally,
(01:51:25):
in Rocky River, Ohio, a forty five year old man
charged with impaired driving after he drove his car into
a closed convenience store to get some beer. To make
it worse, or maybe make the story even better, the
Associated Press reports the man was half naked. You know whatever,
Doug date, Whenever they say hats well, that's the thing.
If he wasn't wearing a shirt, they would just say topless.
(01:51:46):
But when he's not wearing pants, they just they say
half naked, yes, no pants. Police say the man barricaded
himself in a beer cooler and told police to shoot him.
In the end, they subdued him with his stun device.
They went to light on him, pouting about his girlfriend
dumbing him. As you would say, I was in the cooler.
(01:52:09):
I was in the cooler. If you were like if
if you were going to what beer is worth getting
arrested over stealing? Didn't do you, guys ever do a
beer run? Music? You had to do beer? What do
you mean for a beer run? Ryan said, the beer runs? Yeah, exactly,
a beer run like where somebody goes in, it grabs,
it runs never never, No, you know of people that
(01:52:34):
have done the beer run though? Right? Uh? Not like
Oliver has done the beer run. Look at him, he's
he's laughing, he's blushing. He just lost his job as
an unpaid internet Fox Sports radio. There's no beer worth
getting caught trying to steal. Um, there's no beer. Okay.
If favorite beer is what I like, a good like
(01:52:58):
a specific beer, just all right, I'm done with you.
Most favorite beer. I don't drink beer, Doug do I doug. Now,
you guys drink beer like I'm not a big drinker,
but if you ask me my favorite beer, the answers
aren't hard to come by, right, MODELO especial Like what
I don't why is this? I don't Well, I didn't.
I was just trying to clarify if you wanted a
type of beer or a specific beer. I didn't know
(01:53:21):
what the question was. What's your favorite beer? A swirly stout?
I just you become do you become less less likely
to get asked to hang out with every time we
asked about stuff? Like you had me? Yet I went
and played volleyball yesterday, like some sort of pick up
(01:53:42):
indoor volleyball or beach volleyball indoor. Yeah, that's not really
that volleyball. Beach volleyball is like beach volleyball. I would
I would hang with when when you play pick up volleyball,
do all you guys have shirts on and then one
person without the shirt because you have the guy who's
in the middle. You know what I mean? The different
(01:54:03):
we play we play shirts versus skins. You you guys
call called plays? Yeah you can? Yeah? No, I mean,
do you call player? I know you can. Yeah, no,
they have plays in volume behind their behind their back.
Is it a universal numerical system like does everybody know?
Likely in basketball like horns is a set like everybody,
(01:54:23):
you don't do it and pick up all like nobody
does it Seally, what it is is like a certain
positions and certain sets you run have certain numbers. So
it's like one it's not like the West Coast system.
It's like football's West Coast system, and that there's like
not really like certain offenses. There's only there's either traditional
offense or a swing offense. But that's like a big
picture sense. Specific plays just have numbers. I think we
(01:54:44):
can all agree that if you play volleyball, the it's
it's the one sport. Maybe track is the other one.
It's the one sport to which when the women's team
comes around, like you don't mind, like if there's not
uncomfortable at all, it's very you very much like the
women's team to hang out. Like volleyball players they're a
little sums can be a little tall like thing no
amazon on you and be really intimidating, like I'm not
(01:55:07):
that for when people say like you're bad. You're a
basketball player I don't know if you guys know this.
First time I met my mother in law, she knew
my wife was bringing home a basketball player, and she's like,
where's the basketball player? Right? Like it was kind of sarcastic.
I don't look like your average basket player, but there
are some so for some basketb players being around volleyball
team and something like some of those um but some
(01:55:30):
of this not something. Some of the women's FI players
very tall, but all of them spectacular. Ship. I'm a fan.
Get out there and pressed. That was the press. Is
there anything interesting about these blowouts in the NBA playoffs?
We'll try and find a morsel of interest. Next Dog

True Card. To enjoy more confident car buying experience. Go

Madden was asked why the Cubs were seventeen and seventeen
after winning World Series, being the best team in baseball
and still nearly kicking away. Joe Madden was terrible in
the World Series, right, It's awful, awful? I liked Joe
(01:56:11):
Matten he was an awful manager in the World Series.
He nearly blew the World Series for the Cups, who
had the far better team, the far better bullpen, and
yet he could not have managed his bullpen worse. They
won in spite of not because of Joe Madden, and
I like Joe Badden, but all of that is accurate.
But Joe Madden really was there, because it really is
(01:56:33):
there because he is a mask. He is a bs
R tiste. Check out this one. He was asked why
the seventeen and seventeen slow start last year they were
twenties six and eight thirty four games in. I sent
sleep devioration more than anything. I think from the beginning
of the year, our schedule has been kind of awkward.
(01:56:54):
No one's really had a chance to settle in. I
don't think anybody has taken anything for granted. On the
flip side of that, I've always I love the word
expectations that I do, but understand it's going to be
a different path this year. It just has to be dude,
sleep deprivation. Stop it. Like you didn't have Kyle Schwarber
last year, he got hurt Like the first day of
the first day of baseball m sleep deprivation. You know,
(01:57:20):
you know what, you can sleep when you're dead, you
can sleep then always um, Jerry Jones has Cowboys have
no succinct plans to honor Tony Romo. Doesn't mean they
don't not going to. But do you put him in
the ring of honor? Is he ring of honor worthy?
He holds a lot of records, but they didn't win
a lot of games. That's actually a harder one than
(01:57:41):
you think. Tony rom was popular more than good. It's
like Derek Jeter was clutch more than good. Derrek Gene
was not the most productive player, but he was the
picture of consistency, regular season, playoffs, same numbers like he
was he He just felt like he was clutch. He
was gonna do He was gonna be the exact same guy,
no matter what the pressure. Tony Romo really productive, but
(01:58:03):
really successful. That's a hard one. Now he's on TV,
it'll help grow his image. The NBA playoffs continue on
I It's gonna be hard to watch tonight if Kawhi
Leonard doesn't play. But there is something to how the
point differential home and Road is so bizarre and like
(01:58:27):
I don't think the officiating is. It's not like in
the eighties where you felt like, dude, the the rests
have it in for one team. Sometimes it was the
Jazz game three at home against the Warriors felt that way.
I honestly think the most interesting thing is of the
playoffs so far is how could a team one night
be twenty points better and then the next night be
twenty points worth in the oppoement. And my guess is
(01:58:50):
that three point shooting. You get behind, you get a head,
and you're feeling good. You make these three point shots,
you get behind, and all of a sudden you start
trying to You're shooting like their four points dots and
he gets worse and worse than snowball side Mike Williams,
