Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, you gotta drop a
boom on him. When you're on the Doug gott Leave Show,
he's Jonas Knocks. I am Dan Buyer, and a Johnny
Ramos is here as well, making in a b KR
edition as we are live not only live on the airwaves,
Jonas and John we are live on Instagram Live. Yes, yea,
who even knew there was a feature. But it's new

(00:22):
and social media and it's up and coming and it's
what's happening in the world today. Well, if you're on
Instagram Live, you can clearly see that I am drinking
a Zema Dan the air back Sema are bag live
on the air. Here this everybody. Johnny Ramos brought a
twelve pack of crystal PEPSI we appreciate that this Everything's
Clear brings a six pack of crystal meth, which is

(00:43):
so he's improving. Not today, it's got the blue stuff,
Got the blue stuff. I finally wrapped up Breaking Bad
last night. Yes, I hadn't watched it. Yes, Lisa and
I Binge watched the whole series and uh actually made
it through. I got a Netflix the show The Keepers. Uh,
if you would like to be depressed watch that Wow.

(01:05):
Or if you want to be depressed, you could be
a fan of the Indiana Pacers. That's okay because because
a lot is going on with the Pacers, and I
know you are gonna go all in on Paul George
in about twenty eight minutes on what he has done
to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana
and all the Pacer fans. He's got two first names.
Maybe he's in radio. Maybe that's that. That could be

(01:26):
a reason as well. But Paul George's name is also
in the news because there is a reported trade. A
part of what you alluded to, or you're going to
allude to, is that Paul George's put the Pacers in
a bad spot by telling them he is going to
look at other greener pastures after his contract or after
when he hits free agency. So there's a lot of
talk about where Paul George is going to go next,

(01:47):
and one of those destinations seems to be the possibility
of Paul George playing in Cleveland with Lebron James Okay
and on the surface, Jonas, it looks like it's the
Calves gearing up for another title run. Trying to add
another weapon to to stop the Golden State Warriors who
beat Cleveland in five games. Get rid of Kevin Love,

(02:09):
move him along in the three team deal with the
Denver Nuggets, was this report, and then Paul George would
end up going to Cleveland. There would be other assets
moved around that seemed to be the parameters of a
three team trade. But Jonas, what this showed me by
the way this trade is not gonna happen. Denver feels
that they've got a good core that they can move forward.
They're just pieces weren't working. But what this tells me

(02:30):
is we've got another instance where Paul George is now
being brought to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This isn't a Paul
George story. This is now a Lebron James story, as
most stories in the NBA are. We have seen sign
after sign after sign this offseason that this is it
for Lebron James. And this is another reason Jonas, I
believe that this is gonna be Lebron james final season

(02:52):
in Cleveland if they are making the effort to try
to bring in Paul George, where we know Paul George's
hearts in Southern California. How could this not be the
final straw for Lebron James include and it just reeks
of desperation, man, like they they At what point, at
some point, you've got to have the conversation, you know what,
maybe this just isn't Maybe this just isn't happening. Like

(03:13):
you're you're trying to wheel and deal getting a third
team involved, you got no picks on draft night, You're
trying to engage in conversation with everybody else around the league,
and I just like sooner or later. If you're a
cash fan, you've just got to understand that what ended
up happening when your owner sent out that email or
that letter that he sent to fans where he ripped

(03:35):
Lebron James apart, you understand that the moment he sent that,
your organization was forever change because in order to get
Lebron back, he had to concede every ounce of power
he had within the organization. And what comes with that
is that when it's time for you to want to
part ways or move on or have a better business model,
too bad, you're already caught up in the nest. You're
already caught up in Lebron James is chase for his

(03:58):
legacy and his glory and all that stuff. And this
is the and the next element of that where he's
gonna They're gonna go out and and Kevin loves the
sacrificial lamb. And it's just you're delaying the inevitable. It's over.
It's over. Whatever you're going to do your next move
is it still isn't good enough to completely compete with
Golden State. It's just the reality of the situation. They're younger,

(04:18):
they're better set up in the process, and just face
the facts. That's a wrap on that championship window in
Cleveland over the Dan Gilbert Lebron relationship is so key.
When you start revealing the layers of what you've seen,
you're right. Lebron and him do not get along. There
was a report from Forbes that during last year's title
win by the Cleveland Cavaliers that the Cavaliers lost forty

(04:42):
million dollars. Tell me what good business owner. Okay, well,
continually lose money to win championships. Maybe once maybe the
one in Cleveland, which by the way, was a really
really big deal. And in my mind, Lebron James has
one championship in Cleveland made him good in Cleveland for life.

(05:02):
He came back, he delivered a championship. It may not
be the the first UM, but it likely is because
I don't think there's going to be a third championship,
if they would even win it next year. I think
that the relationship that you talked about with Gilbert and
Lebron being an issue the decision for Dan Gilbert to
not bring back David Griffin. And I know there are
some people who aren't quite sure to say, ah, Lebron

(05:25):
was the real GM, and we saw Lebron's tweet to
David Griffin. I believe that Lebron liked having David Griffin there.
But the fact that Dan Gilbert wouldn't pay an extra
three or four million dollars to a general manager to
keep him around to try to continue this championship run
tells me that Dan Gilbert's ready to move on, even
more so Jonas because there apparently is no plan to

(05:46):
fill the vacancy because Chauncey Billips can't make up his
mind on what he wants to do about it. And
Chauncey Billips would be like many other general manager candidates
to be like, why in the world would I want
to go to Cleveland for one year with a chance
in the very in my belief likelihood that Lebron James
leaves after season, no shot, no deal, Absolutely not. It's
a mess in Cleveland, and all of these things just

(06:08):
show me that this is Lebron swan song in his hometown. Uh.
Dan Gilbert wants his basketball team back, truly what it
is like. He he wants his baby back, He wants
his basketball team back. He let Lebron borrow it again
for a couple of years. He like it back, and
I get it, Like, I mean, you talk about it.
You're losing forty million dollars when you should be celebrating
you won an NBA championship. You lost forty million dollars.

(06:31):
I think he's at a point to where he realizes
this guy is entering year fifteen, he's in his thirties.
This isn't gonna go on forever. You've got to make
tough decisions. You can either do what Boston did years
and years and years ago, and you can hold on
to McHale and perish and bird for too long and
then go to you know, sync down to the bottom
of the standings for twenty years, or you can know
when to when it's no one to hold him, no

(06:52):
one to fold him, fold your hand, rebuild, start over.
You've got Kyrie Irving, You've got Kevin Love locked up
for a few years at bringing some younger talent. You're
not a championship team, but I can news for you.
With Lebron and losing forty million dollars, you're not a
championship team either. So I I just I don't know.
At some point, you've just got to say this has

(07:13):
been fun, man, we get it, but you and I
don't have a great relationship. We we want a title.
It's never been done here before. Let's just go ahead
and move on. He said he's a businessman, and and
that's really what it comes down to it when you
try to understand what your what your gains and your
losses are, and you take a monetary loss in sports
because it brings that championship to Cleveland that that city

(07:35):
is has craved for so long, but you also have
to realize that Dan Gilbert really hasn't reaped the benefits
of that championship because it's all been to Lebron. And
I don't care what sports town you are in, if
you have had success with a sports team, nothing is
better than the first or nothing is better than the
start of that run that you know what, the the

(07:57):
fifth time that you win the division or the fifth
time that you make into the NBA Finals may not
be as exciting as that first time. Okay, all right,
that's that's fair enough. John's good every single time. But
it's just it's it's not the same as it was
at the beginning. Fans become accustomed to winning. Fans become

(08:17):
lazy of the sense of they just they're so used
to their team winning that is going to happen at
some point. That's why the Warriors run, even with the
great players that they have, isn't gonna go on for
seven or eight years. You're not going to continue to
stock up. At some point. When you're an ownership, you
have to realize, Okay, what are we really getting back
in our return here. The win for the championship was
huge for Cleveland. There was no doubt. It is probably

(08:39):
worth every penny that Dan Gilbert lost, but again he's
not getting the credit for it. The same excitement really
only adds to Lebron's legacy, It's never gonna be as
big for Cleveland if they win again. And when you
just look at the sheer numbers of it, he didn't
want to pay David Griffin three million dollars more a year.
How much were they shelling out? Would they be shelling

(09:00):
out to other free agents to bring that in? We're
just talking three million dollars more to a general manager
to keep things going, and he wouldn't do it. And
I think it says a lot. So when you look
at Griffin, when you look at these trade rumors to
bring in Paul George, Paul George isn't gonna stick around
in Cleveland for for more than a year. I don't care.
It is not going he is. He's coming to the

(09:21):
West Coast. He's coming to Los Angeles. That is what
is going to happen. Also, there's a report that Dwyane
Wade and Carmelo Anthony Brian winners to VSPN says that
the two could get buyouts from the team if if
Wade ops in and Carmelo we know about his no
trade class that they could go to Cleveland. How long
are they going to stay in Cleveland? Think that's gonna
be a three year plan. I don't think why does
he just bring the rest of the two thousand three draft?

(09:43):
Is Darko still around? I think it wasn't Darko fighting
mm A or something like why not? Why don't we
just bring everybody else to Cleveland and let's just build this.
Everybody that was on the banana boat come over to Cleveland.
It's over, man like that. That's it. And for some reason,
Dan Gilbert's the only guy that I think is seeing this,
which is why he parted with if In, because he's
slowly distancing himself from the idea that listen, this was fun.

(10:04):
Lebron is not going to be loyal to me to
where it's February and he's still bringing up how Dan
Gilbert sent an email email out trashing him to his
to the media talking about how he had to convince
his mom, had to convince his wife, everybody in his
family like that was February after. They want a title
and Lebron still bringing it up. If I'm Dan Gilbert,
I'm saying, Okay, I can lose forty million dollars and

(10:29):
win a title. Okay, I've already got that title, or
I can try and make some of that money back
and try and redo this whole thing, and maybe who knows,
I want to get some of the credit. I'd like
to be you know, I'd like somebody to look and say,
hey man, that guy's a pretty damn good owner. Everybody's
as it stands right now, he had to concede everything
to get back and to get Lebron back into his
good graces. And what you're seeing as a guy who's

(10:50):
just tired of it and he wants his team back.
And I get it, I totally get it. He should
trade him. Actually know what he should do. If Dan
Gilbert's got any balls whatsoever, he should cut him. That
would be great. I actually love I love the the
thinking of a trade of what you could get. That
would be the ultimate. And he should sue him forty

(11:10):
million bucks back. They paid fifty four million dollars in
luxury taxes last year. Okay, So that's that's above and
beyond to field the roster that that Lebron wanted and
that David Griffin wanted, and whether Griffin and Lebron were
on the same page, which I think that they probably were,
and that has something to do with it. Dan Gilbert
just wasn't going to deal with it anymore, and wasn't

(11:30):
gonna do with it at the price tag. The David
Griffin want report of six to seven billion dollars a
year Jonas, when you really think about it in the
grand scheme of things, is not a big deal because
you're already gonna make three million dollars minimum, So he
wants to raise up to that point, and you're like, okay,
that's three million dollars per year. Yet Dan Gilbert's probably
got that in his wallet, so it's not it's not

(11:51):
that big of a deal. And so when you're piecing
everything that we've seen from Thursday's drafted, the reports come
out and the Mellow and the Wade stuff, the signs
are just pointing to, Yeah, Lebron is done after of
this season. Yeah, And and I think that David Griffin, Yeah,
it is. It's true. David Griffin was part. He was
him and Lebron were you know, tied together. They were
sort of they had this vision and all this stuff.

(12:11):
I think he moving on from David Griffin. That's one
element of Lebron that he's slowly going to start to
to pull away from what he needs to do. Now
is put all this focus on Kyrie Irving. You know,
make sure that guy know that knows that he's loved,
because you know what, I got news for you. Lebron
leaves and you're left with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
It's not that bad. You know, that's not that bad
of a restart. They both have opt outs after the

(12:32):
twenty nineteen season. Um, so that could be something to plan.
But yeah, I felt that way too. If you're Cleveland
and you're really looking long term, figure out how to
work it out, to work around Kyrie Irving and make
him because he'll keep your relevant in the Eastern Conference,
which is still as as weak as ever. Uh. Dan

next here on Fox Sports Radio, a former NBA All
Star and a guy who spent a long time in
the league is going to tell you the brutal truth
about free agency. That's next year. On FSR, he's Jonas Knocks.

(13:36):
I'm Dan Buyer, John Ramos hanging out as well. Glad
to have you with us uh a b k R edition,
joining us now and be a dunk champ, former NBA
All Star now our teammate. Here Fox Sports Radio, NBA
analysts Cedric Soballos joins us hey said, how you doing
on this Monday? We are we are doing well. And
we started off the show talking about this proposed three

(13:57):
team deal that would have sent Paul George to Cleveland,
and then we we branched off and where Lebron's future
may or may not be. And the feeling that we've
got here is that this is a swan song for
Lebron in Cleveland um playing his last year with the Cavaliers.
This upcoming season, l A has been on the map.
There's been a lot of talking about the Lakers of

(14:17):
the Clippers. How long do you think Lebron stays in
a Cleveland Cavalier's uniform. Yeah. I have always thought that
he went back to try to resurrect that relationship with
the ownership and also as well as the fans and
and and to allow them to you know, use, you know,
his greatness as much as possible. Fortunately for him, he

(14:37):
got them a championship, three trips to the finals. He
can't complaint he'd done his job. He patched it up.
It's time for him to move on and get bigger
and better. And only two places that he can do
that his Los Angeles with the Lakers, and also um
with the New York Knicks and Phil Jackson and him
and had words and conversations before billings against his team

(14:58):
or set him to proguatory things against his team. So
I don't think New York would be the answer for him.
Plus they're not treating his buddy Carmelo Anthony as well there,
so I think l A is a is a real key.
And then a couple of years ago, you know, he
bought the house in Brentwood and wrote his kids in school.
So I was really shocked about that, and that's kind
of opened my eyes up a little bit more to see.

(15:19):
You know, maybe his team and himself have has a
plan to try to move on, maybe to get bigger,
because you know, obviously contract wise he can only get
so far. But I think this off court deals and
he's involved in movies and all other kind of adventures,
this would be a great move for him and his family.
He has said. The ball's former NBA all start joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, so free agency

(15:40):
starts in about five days from now, said, so take
us into what these next few days are like for
NBA players who are approaching free agency. Have you guys
already talked to teams illegally? I mean, has that already
gone on? There's been tampering, You've been out to dinner, like,
how does that go down? No, it's not too really
much tampering because I think it's enough time between and
guys have their eye on, you know, where they might

(16:01):
have fits, and and also general management and ownership they
have a possibility on who they may want to recruit.
So tampering really doesn't do that much. I think you
call players, players called each other and say hey, how's
it there? How it's sown? So as a coach, how's
the ownership? How do you guys just are treated such
and such? Uh do the guys really want to win

(16:22):
or is it just a you know, a paycheck pick
ups the situation. Uh. They talk amongst then, but not
not too many much tampering going on. It really doesn't
matter who gets to early jump. Yeah. I think when
when it comes to free agency and if you're a
big part of a the plans of a team, uh,
you kind of weigh things out. Obviously we go back
a couple of years with DeAndre Jordan and Dallas Mavericks

(16:44):
and that and the hostage situation that with Clippers. But
it just seems like, you know that the tampering is
really not worth it. You know, if you guy like Mark,
you but you don't really care about those fines and stuff,
and you just, you know, in order to get a player.
But it's not too much tampering going m But I
do I do know that there's a lot of conversations
between players amongst players. Cedric Sabolos joining us. You're on

(17:06):
Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Buyer. That's Jonas knocks run
for Doug Gottlieb today. How far I had to players
look towards moving on. I mean, Paul George obviously gave
the Pacers a year notice. In your experiences in the NBA,
how far out were people were players looking to move
on to two different places? Well, you know what, I
think they do look at a year in advance when

(17:28):
their free agency is coming up. Is so crazy. When
I was with Los Angeles, Um, you know, me and
shaquillea New had a conversation and about him coming to
Los Angeles and he was still in their Lando and
I was like WHOA Like, like you you're that unhappy
with your situation or or you just wanted When it
comes to Sequila, it wasn't about being unhappy. It was
about his brand, making his brand bigger, and he knew

(17:50):
he could do that in Los Angeles, a place that
he always he always had a home there and he
always wanted to play there. So, um, you know, they
do look in advance, a year in advance when they
know a contract is coming up. But nowadays because of
money is so large and the brand is so big. Um,
just like we talked about Lebron earlier, you know, they
started looking two or three years in advance and seeing

(18:11):
you know, when my free agency is up, when it's
going to be my opportunity And what what moves can
I make? What what teams are there? And I don't
know if this is so much a team aspectcause there's
good teams and maybe smaller markets. But you think about
you know, Oklahoma City, Utah, places like that, Milwaukee would
be one of them. Are there certain markets around the
NBA that US players talk about. I don't want to

(18:33):
play there. I'm not going there. Well, yeah, I mean
there there there are a lot of teams. I mean Utah,
like you said, you taught Milwaukee these cold places that
are just not really great destinations. Um, you know that
if you get drafted there, obviously you have no choice.
You have build a good solid base there. You keep
going with the franchise that you're with. But if you

(18:54):
have your choice and and and you know, my day,
we didn't have that option where we could pick and
choose whatever you wanted to go like they do now
they but you had you had some good spots, so
said Phoenix and l A aren't bad. That's not bad
to start out your career. Oh yeah, and they need
to even Dallas, you know, Mavericks, that's even great and
then moving on to Miami. You know, I was a
Sunshine sting, that little that little four game stiff that

(19:18):
I had in Detroit. I was begging Joe too Bar
to get me out of here. It's just not for me.
I mean, if you think about it though, like that's
why if you're Utah and you're looking at Gordon Hayward
and you made a selection, you drafted him, he turned
out to be a really good player. You're dealing with
Boston in a relationship he's got with Brad Stevens it's
pre existing or South Beach, they're screwed, like you, like,

(19:39):
I don't know, unless you draft well, some of these
markets have no chance to compete in long term. Yeah,
you just have to get lucky. I mean, you know
Utah have. We're so fortunate were Carl and John Stockton
being there, and those guys were were what you call
what we would call down home country boys who would
just love being and you taught, and they their family
oriented and not. But Haywood, he's know, he's he slicked

(20:01):
his hair back, he's got sexy on us, and you know,
being sexy in Utah, it's just not a big thing
for him. So I think the South Beach is put
a really good store. You know, I honestly thought it
was weird when said demanded a trade to the Kabbo
San Lucas Beaches during his play. I don't even know
what this team is, but apparently you wanted out. Center
Cedric Sambaalos joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. He's

(20:22):
Jonas Stocks, I'm Dan Buyer and for Doug Gottlieb. How
much is is recruiting in the NBA? You talked about
Shack maybe wanting to come out to l A. How
much is it like it with high schoolers going to college?
Are there? Are there exact similarities? Are there equal comparisons
to the to the two when you're trying to find
a new home in the NBA. No, when it comes

(20:42):
to high school kids, they just want to come play
in the NBA. They want to avoid going to class,
avoid you know, reports and and and doing papers and
all that other stuff. And and they and they want
to get you know, paid for their services. When you
going to college, you you you know you're gonna make
that university a lot of money in and you're not
gonna get nothing but a couple of boxes of top

(21:02):
romein board. So it's a it's a tough scenario. Uh,
it's it's unfortunate. I always said, you know that that
that they should have a grace period or or an
opportunity to go on the job training when it comes
to college basketball, because you know, they make exceptions for religion,
they make exceptions for injuries as well as academics, and

(21:23):
they allow you to come back for those things. You know,
like when Mormons going there and there and their retreat
and they you know, their their mission, they allowed to
come back after two years. So I think the same
thing should to be allowed with with the basketball they
go in and if they don't make you know, get
drafted where they want to get drafted, or they don't
get picked up, or they don't make a team, they're
not allowed to come back and play. But they should

(21:45):
be allowed become that year, but they should be allowed
to come back and get their education and then the
next following year be eligible to play. Well. The reason
I break it up is I think Paul George has
the decision to make does you want to play? You know,
high school kids, they may go to a school for
a coach. Okay, and Paul George's decision, you go to
Cleveland to play with Lebron? You want to stick around
with Lebron? Or do you go over the place where
you're happy, which is close to home, or in Paul

(22:06):
George's case, southern California is home. That's where I think
his decision ends up lying of of really and I
don't think that it's any debate that he goes to
Southern California and that and that's where I think it's
the interesting tie in. And that's why I asked the
question is would Paul George even would would he stay
in Cleveland just for Lebron James? And I think that
that at face value, the apps is absolutely not. He'd

(22:29):
rather go home. Well, I think for for at least
one year or maybe even two years, he has to
be He can kind of put himself in a bad
position by saying he wanted to get out of Indiana
because now the negotiation between Indiana and any other teams.
Saying he wanted to go to Los Angeles, it's it's
kind of down You're gonna you're not gonna get a

(22:49):
lot for Paul, So you know, not knowing now that
you're not gonna get a lot. You know, if I
was Indiana, I tried to stick it back to Paul
and just not trade him at all and just keep
him there and just let him walk away with nothing.
He still has to have, you know, a couple of
years before he gets his max money because he has
to be you know, registered as a player on that
team unless they do a sign and trade. But uh,

(23:10):
in this case scenario, he is a He is a
missing piece to a team that's been to the finals
three times. They got one out of that three. But
now that they add Katie to go to State, and
you need another firepower, some more, some more, uh, something
to retaliate for what how great Katie is so uh,
if he's up to that challenge for a year or two,
I think it'd be great. But I think in two

(23:31):
thousand and eighteen, you know, you know, I don't see
either one of those staying around in Cleveland. I think Kyrie,
this is gonna be Kyrie's team for a while, and
you can see Kyrie want to leave. I think him
he's staying there, and whoever else is around, they build
that team around them. But I don't see Paul or
or Lebron James stand in Cleveland after the eighteen all right,
said you got my sick, twisted mind rolling here, so

(23:52):
I'm gonna make you you run the Indiana Pacers, all right?
And Paul George just put you guys in a terrible spot.
He has said he wants to go to l A.
And he is, you guys have. He's taken away all
any leverage you guys have in trade negotiations. Where would
be the worst situation you could trade Paul George two
in the NBA? That would be the furthest away from

(24:13):
l A. Worst situation. Well, I wouldn't go, I would
It wouldn't be the furthest away from l A. But
I sent him to Sacramento. Oh yeah, yeah, dangle it
in front of him. Yeah, you know, I said. The
reason I send him a Sacramento they they you know,
they got a new building there. They're gonna have a

(24:33):
ton of money. They got some great rookies that they
got they drafted this year. It may be a possibility
to lure Paul in the staying there. You know, he's
not too far away from l A. A quick forty
five minutes flight on his private jet get him in
Los Angeles. If you need to, you know, do that
sort of thing. Uh. Yeah, I would send him there.
One I can't. I can't give him away to the
Eastern Conference because he's gonna come back and burn me.

(24:55):
So I have to send him West. Uh. If I
sent him to Denver has been improving, they had a
pretty good record, Uh towards the end of the season,
that's gonna make them contenders and then possibility I have
to deal with that and practically helping the team get
back in the playoffs and being contenders. So I would
try to send him to the bottom as possible. I mean,
I know l A is at the bottom right now,

(25:16):
but they can Scott Ball. They just got magic in there,
um so that you know, it's real difficult, especially got
with the Western Conference, to send him anywhere where he
can be at the bottom. But it's the worst case scenario.
I will sending the Sacramento he's on Twitter at said
Ceballo season, NBA All Star and Dunk Champion. Now he's
ours Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst Cedric Sabalos, thanks, said,

(25:39):
we'll do it again soon. No problem. That's taking the
the ability to keep him close enough to know what
he's missing. I had a buddy who lived an hour
between Madison and Milwaukee, like it's about forty five minutes
each way, because he's like, oh, I could go to
both places. Never went to either places the worst. So

(25:59):
it's soccer or to keep them like like in California,
but not in southern California. So too, it's like showing
up to your ex's wedding with a stripper, just just
one of these, f you I'm here and just just
dangling it right in front of him. What a move,
Trading him to Sacramento. That's how it's done. Uh. Dan
Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottliepier Fox Sports Radio.
You can always listen to the show on the I

(26:20):
Heart Radio app as well as on Sirius XM channel
eighty three. Up next, though, somebody in sports is completely
screwed over a fan base and their entire organization. We'll
tell you who it is in just sixty seconds from now. First, though,
let's find out what's trending these Jonas knocks. I'm Dan Buyer,
and that is Johnny Ramos Infra duct Today a b

They aren't confident in Indianapolis, Jonas that Paul George is
gonna stick around. They are so not confident from the
fact that Paul George said, yeah, I'm done after this
next season, if not before, then you have an issue

(27:02):
with Paul George telling the Indiana Pacers that his future
is not with that organization. He totally screwed him. But
he completely screwed the Indiana Pacers because here's the thing.
If he wanted to quietly have a conversation with them
and say, listen, I'm not going to resign with you guys.
I just want to give you the heads up. This

(27:22):
is where I'm at with my career. This is where
I want to end up. See if you can make
something happen, then that's fine. At least you're upfront and
you're honest, and you had a conversation behind closed doors.
Because what Indiana could have turned around and done is
they could have engaged in trade conversations with multiple teams
around the NBA, and it would have helped them try
and facilitate a deal. You can you can you know,

(27:45):
pit teams against each other, you can get them to
try and negotiate against each other, use them for leverage. Instead,
what he did is cut him off at the knees
to where Indiana has got no leverage whatsoever. They can
only really deal with one team, the Lakers, because that's
all he wants to go play for, and they can't
even get what they think they want in return because

(28:06):
the Lakers already know that he's going to end up
there in a couple of years when he's a free agent. Anyways,
he screwed him. He totally screwed him. Wasn't the way
for the really screw them is to tell them not
at all that he wasn't gonna plan like that, that
they could get something or do you think he was
gonna be dealt no matter what this off season because
Indiana just wanted to protect themselves from a complete falling out.
I just think that he could have handled this better.

(28:28):
I think that he could have, you know, walked in
or called Kevin Pritchard or whoever in Indiana and said, hey,
I'm just giving you the heads up. I'd like to
be dealt um. I don't want to go public with
this because I know it's gonna make things difficult for
you guys to try and find, you know, a suitor
to make a deal with. But I'm going to opt
out of my contract and my ideal landing spot is

(28:50):
l A. Can we work together on this to make
it happen. And if that's how it's done, at least
Kevin Pritcher can go out and get more return on
his investment. Instead, all he's got to work with and
all he's got now is he's They're trying to have
to leak out rumors and and and possible trades, and
this team's interested and and most of them are b
asked because they're trying to pit him against each other.

(29:12):
He totally screwed Kevin Pritchard, totally. I just I think
that the Pacers knew what was going on. I also
think that's why Larry Bird ended up moving on, because
I think that the Pacers need to take a new direction,
probably building around Miles Turner. But the fact is is,
I don't think that they had any any belief that
Paul George was going to be around for the long term.

(29:35):
I I don't think that, and I think that just
to get I don't want to see to get anything,
but something is better than nothing for it, and at
least Paul George there there there was no opportunity for
them to read between the lines the wrong way and
think that Paul George was going to stick around. I
think that Kevin Pritchard now is the one in charge
of trying to navigate this future with Miles Turner and

(29:56):
likely without Paul George for for the next four or
five years. I understand where you put him in a
bad spot leverage wise, but things also could have been
much worse if he just strung them out throughout the
year and the Pacers didn't have an urgency to try
to shop him. Right now, well, here was Pacers GM,
Kevin Pritcher, just from a few days ago. It couldn't
have come at a worse time for me. If we

(30:17):
would have known this a few months ago, I think
we could have been a little bit more prepared. And
then the way it got out was a little struggling
to us. We struggled with that we want our players
to be here. That's important. It really is. And when
Paul said he didn't, it's a gut punch. He's hurt, Dan,
He's hurt. I know, so I hope you're happy. How
does how does he not see the writing on the

(30:40):
wall that we have seen since April and may listen,
it's not out of left field? Yeah, okay, Like like
what what? Wait? What is that? Like like that's there's
no way, Like they didn't see all of a sudden
this news popped up on their phone and and they
were shocked that that's garbage, Like you don't But here's
the thing, Like, if you just I did that you

(31:00):
want to do and this wouldn't happen. Um, if you
decided that you wanted to get a divorce from your wife,
you'd probably have a conversation behind closed doors first. You
wouldn't show up somewhere without your wedding ring on. By
the way that works, let me just tell you, um,
you you wouldn't do that. You would have a conversation
with her behind closed doors, and you guys would work
it out. Paul George could have had that conversation. Instead
they went to the media right before the draft. Maybe

(31:22):
he was impatient, Maybe he was frustrated that he was
still a Pacer. I get it, but you screw them
in being able to make a deal when that happens.
That's why when I hear Jimmy Butler fans in Chicago
bitch and moan they got rid of Jimmy Butler. Would
you rather be an Indiana Pacer fan right now? Like?
Who do you got Jeff Tigue to look forward to?
By the way, how did they give Jeff Tigue Austin

(31:43):
Crows years and never wasn't that retired? I'm not sure.
I'm not, I'm not. They do have young pieces. Miles
Miles Turner is is a gonna be uh the center
of the Pacers. I just I just think, and I
mean center of the franchise, not only position. I just
think that they knew what was coming. And sure this
hurt their leverage, but the fact is is that they

(32:04):
are going to have to make a move forward. I
think that's why Larry Bird stepped aside to allow Kevin
Larry Bird. Not because of Paul George guys, but just
because of the fact of Larry Bird knew he wasn't
gonna be around in three or four years, and if
Paul George is gonna leave. This franchise is gonna need
to take a new direction. Models will give it to
the guy who's gonna lead them in that direction now,
then wait for later. I just I don't buy all

(32:25):
that Kevin Pritchard is saying. And at least now they've
got an opportunity to try to shop him. May have
lost the leverage, but it could have been worse if
they keep him throughout the whole year and getting nothing
for him. He is Dan Buyer, I'm Jonas. Knocks is
his Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen on the
I Heart Radio app and you can listen on Sirius
XM channel eighty three as we fill in for Doug
Gottlieb here on fs ARE. You can get Dan on

(32:45):
Twitter again at Dan Buyer on Fox. But up next
one of the all time greats. In fact, he might
be the best at his position of all time. He
has made a major anouncement that's coming up next year
on FSR. It's the Dug Got Leave Show on Fox

(33:08):
Sports Radio. Doug's on here, I'm Dan Buyer. That's show
to Knocks. Johnny Ramos here makes it a b KR edition.
Why don't let you know, in about forty minutes or so. Um,
the NBA Awards are tonight. Okay, the first ever program
televised postseason awards program. You guys excited, Johnny excited for
the NBA Awards show. I'm just excited that we're just

(33:29):
gonna talk about the hot points of this NBA Awards.
I mean, like nobody else is talking about it. We're
just gonna bring out a different side. I'm trying to think, like,
where would I rank, like if I had to like it.
It's tough for me because I go, like, God, what
would I rather have? Would I rather watch the NBA Awards,
the SPS or a second circumcision? So tough, I'm not

(33:51):
sure which way to go. Give me the deuce. Uh
and uh. We're gonna do our own NBA Awards coming
up in forty minutes with our own twist here on
the Dug Out Show on Fox Sports Radio. Even though
Doug's not here, we still have a sack, and we
do have David Gascon who is here. Um, yeah, let's
do it. Let's reach into Godly's sack, Davi. Is it

(34:13):
weird that Doug's not here but his sack is well?
Two of them are. I guess apparently, so I got
to uh double timin as they'd say, how you doing?
We are doing great, Dave. You get to reach in
and uh big game that we get to play. Let's
take a look into the sack and we got real news,
fake news, real news or fake news, gentlemen. Newly acquired
big man Timothy Mozgov says that the NBA will go

(34:36):
back to an inside out game, real news or fake news.
I think that's real. I think everything goes in cycles.
So at some point it's going to, Uh, you're gonna
come back to big men in the NBA. I think
that's fake because I don't think he knows how to speak. Gentlemen,
you are facing let me shoot, so I will. You know.

(34:59):
I'm the guy who do whatever coach told me to do.
So he told me should have heafquart that're gonna shoot
headquart like for me, like if you guys wanted me
shoot three. So I gotta work in it without cigarettes.
I love Hey, hey, tim see this line right here,
This mid cord stripe did a hundred pull up jumpers

(35:19):
from right there. He if Moscot haven't hasn't been the
same since they thought him out in that one guy's
garage and mascot from forty seven. It's good, gentlemen, Real
news or fake news. According to Reuters, Amazon dot Com
is looking to charge advertisers two point eight million dollars

(35:40):
for its package that includes thirty second spots during Thursday
night football broadcast this upcoming season. Real or fake Well,
First of all, Reuters is a magazine for all steroid users. Okay,
Lance Armstrong as the editor in chief, I've said, I've
said Reuters for ten years and it never dawned on

(36:00):
me until I heard Dave say it. And David didn't
say anything wrong with it. But yeah, um, I'm gonna
say real news. That's real news. I'll go with Dan.
Real gentlemen, don't forget back. In April, they paid a
whopping fifty million dollars for this NFL package just ten
games Thursday night football the NFL. You know, Sports Business

(36:24):
Journal did a piece today too, And I'm watching ESPN
like paid for all of their I mean, these prices
are just I mean through the roof. It's amazing. They're
a formula like their F one racers who race part
time because they can't get a full year sponsorship and
just all another billion dollars? Why not? And do you
guys have the Prime package at all? Yes, it depends. Yeah,

(36:48):
what do we I thought you thought something else. Sorry. Yeah,
it's ninety nine dollars for a year with the Prime service,
so not that bad, but five times as much as
Twitter paid just a year ago. Anyways, back to the
NBA with talked about an award show coming up shortly,
Dallas Mavericks. Big, alright, you'll do better than that. One guy,

(37:09):
Joe Maga Maga or whatever name. What's that guy's name.
He's a good actor. The guy from he was on Yeah, no, no,
the guy Magna Lelia or something like that. What's his name,
I don't know, Magna Magna Romo something a little help.
He's from Pittsburgh. He was in True Blood, he was
in Um Magic or the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's a good guy.

(37:36):
Is gonna get one last check from the Dallas Mavericks.
Last year he made a whopping twenty five million dollars
and this year, look at the same contract. The Mavericks
have elighted to pick up the tab on his option
for this year. One last deal. Thirty nine years of age,
it's a one year contract worth twenty five million dollars.
Real news or fake news, that's real. Yeah, I'll go Jonas,

(38:00):
you are making what bake news? Guys. The Mavericks have
declined the option for Dirk Nvitski, but they're gonna resign.
They will resign him under a different agreement. And that's
accord to Mark. I. I didn't read the fine print.
I'll do you one better. Mark Cuban loves Dirk Navitski
so much that he's actually gonna get him stuffed after
he passes. Like Mark, Mark Cuban is gonna own he's

(38:22):
gonna open up a tax ofdermy business, and he's only
gonna have Dirk Navitski up on the wall. I'll give
you a hundred thousand dollars for fifty percent of the
Dirk stuffed Dirk. If you want, gentlemen, one lesson. No, No,
it's not No, it's not yeah, John Ramo, Yeah, welloking

(38:44):
to the first Johnson busy reading Reuter's Meg. John mcarrell
was just recently asked during a New Conversation about a
book coming out if he thinks Surreal Williams would be
one of the top players in all the world of tennis.
Matt Canro said, no, she'd be ranked right around seven
hundred if you have had her in the men's circuit.

(39:05):
Real news or fake news? Are you serious? That's real
news news. He did say, it's a completely different animals,
but she doesn't mean she's not the best female player
in the world, but completely different animal. When dealing with
the men, I totally disagree with them, and she'd easily

(39:26):
be in the six hundreds. She'd win some matches. And
Johnny Ramos makes it a boom for the second hour
as well, and there's a lot going on, even though
you may not understand it. The Indiana Pacers Jonah says,
we're screwed by Paul George. And now Paul George's future

(39:46):
somewhat up in the air. Could it be Cleveland, Could
it be Um, Could it be Los Angeles? A lot
of options for the foreseeable future for the right now
Indiana Pacers forward as free agency is on the horizon
in the NBA. Now George is not gonna be able
to be a free agent until next year, but still
the biggest name out there. After Jimmy Butler was traded.
Jonas and Uh Paul George's availability really has a lot

(40:09):
of dots connected, whether it be to l A or
to Cleveland, but it ends up um tying Lebron James
into it, the future of of him and some of
the other older stars in the NBA. Do you feel
bad for Kevin Love because because and again I don't.
When I say feel bad, I don't mean I mean
the guy's you know, two hund a million dollars, he's
he's well off, he's good to go, He's won a championship.

(40:29):
But he just he was always going to be the
sacrificial lamb. If there was ever going to be a
move made, it was always going to be him that
was on the way out. And he's the guy who
had other opportunities to go elsewhere and surprise everybody, I
think he signed a six year deal in Cleveland a
couple of years ago to stay long term. And now
you hear Lebron's chasing Paul George and they you know,
there's all these Carmelo, Anthony Dayne Wade, all these other

(40:52):
buyout talk, and there's Kevin Love going dude, What's what's happen?
Why am I the guy that's on the way out.
I was one of those guys that it felt that
bringing in Love wasn't going to help that. I thought
that if you had Andrew Wiggins there with you, because
he was so young, and you had Lebron's stature, that
he would be able to like Andrew Wiggins wouldn't demand

(41:14):
the ball, not that Kevin Love did, but it wasn't
effact of where you needed to get the ball to
Andrew Wiggins all the time. But over time, for however
long Lebron was going to stay there, that Andrew Wiggins
would develop and become a part of that big three.
So then when Kevin Love was brought in, I didn't
think it was a great move for the Cavaliers. But
I don't feel bad for Love. I do feel bad
for Chris Bosh because he was the first one that

(41:37):
this really happened to, and now, considering Bosh's health situation,
never truly got the opportunity after the fact to prove
him to prove everybody else wrong. I think Kevin Love
will have that opportunity whether he goes to Denver, whether
he goes to Indiana, or whether he goes somewhere else
in the NBA. It's become clear that Lebron knows who

(41:58):
the who. If Lebron is the best guy, he knows
who the second best guy is, and he pairs up
with them and they're all buddies and it's Dwyane Wade
and it's Kyrie Irving. It's also become very apparent that
the third guy is always going to be the first
guy to go. I mean, you're you're, that's there's there's
a reputation that's developed there. So I wonder if if
players around the league look at this and go, man,

(42:18):
not everybody wants to be Lebron's Cabanah boy. Not everybody
wants to be the guy who's got to go and
and and and Lebron's scapegoat, so to speak, if it
doesn't work out and you don't want a title. So
I wonder how much of that is having a negative
impact on this because you heard the talks that well,
you know, Jimmy Butler was warned by people in Cleveland
not to come here. Whether or not that's true, who knows.

(42:39):
But Jimmy Butler strikes me as the type of guy
who doesn't want to cower down or bow down to anybody,
Like he's just not going to be that guy. And
I wonder if part of him was like, I'm not
going to go play understudy to Lebron for a couple
of years. He's got his titles, you know, I'm thinking
about my legacy to and I wonder if that's an
element of this. Also. I think that when when you

(43:01):
look at a situation where if Jimmy Butler would have
been dealt to the Cavaliers, Jimmy Butler is the one
that has to do the adjustment. And it's it's crazy
to think of because when you step back and think
about it, you're saying to your team, we need a
guy like Jimmy Butler. Well, then shouldn't Jimmy Butler be
the guy? Just like just like when Kevin Love was
brought into Cleveland, they brought it. They knew what Kevin

(43:23):
Love was, but they didn't want Kevin Love to be that.
They apparently wanted Kevin Love to be something else, and
that's what put Kevin Love in an awkward situation. Maybe
the same with Chris Boss. Chris Bosh did develop his
game with the Miami Heat. You bring in these guys
because you think you're bringing them in, it's it's It's
like bringing in Clayton Kershaw and saying, all right, we
wanted a d H now now that you're in the

(43:45):
American League, Like that doesn't make any sense. It just is.
It's that's what I get the sense of when you're
trying to fit these big threes. If you if Lebron
is trying to make a big three as well as
the as a report surface that the excuse me that
the Bulls could buy out Dwayne Wade if he opts in,
and Carmelo obviously could be brought up by the Knicks,
that they would go to Cleveland Jonas. The fact is

(44:06):
is one of those guys would also then have to
take a back seat. And the narrative of Dwyane Wade
and Carmelo Anthony right now, well not similar. Neither is
great because Wade didn't lead the Bulls to the great
um success in the one year that he was there.
There was a lot of turmoil and anybody who got
the success at the end of the year ended up
being Rondo just because you saw on how valuable he was.

(44:28):
Carmelo is tainted anyway because of what is going on
with the Knicks, and there's not much that he could
do to to I think, change his reputation of what
it's going to be throughout his NBA career. So, you know,
to be the third guy is in a difficult spot.
And and in Cleveland with Lebron James, it's it's darn
near impossible. And here's the other part of this too,
because I do think that Lebron James is probably gonna

(44:49):
leave Cleveland. I do think that's gonna happen. I think
the relationship with with Dan Gilbert is has always been bad,
but I think it's just to the point where Dan
Gilbert and we talked about this earlier, doesn't want to
lose anymore money and he's tired of having to give
away his franchise to a guy who has thrown him
under the bus publicly a couple of times and already
burned him one. So I see Dan Gilbert as somebody

(45:11):
who says, listen, I want my team back. Okay, let's
not forget who the owner is. I want my team back.
But although I do agree Lebron is going to be gone,
and we were talking about this before the show. If
I were to ask you, who are the top five
players in the Eastern Conference last season, Like, if you
already get like top five players, I would say, you know, Lebron, Kyrie,

(45:32):
m Isaiah Thomas, Jimmy Butler, you know, maybe Paul George
for being at least like you know, and again John Wall.
You know, there's some other guys there as well too.
So let's let's let's think about this. If that's your
top five, what if Jimmy Butler, who's now in the
Western Conference, stays there and Paul George ends up in

(45:53):
l A with the Lakers, all of a sudden, two
of the real one on one threats in that conference
are gone. If you're Lebron, why the f would you
leave the East? Why would you leave? It's a it's
an automatic. It becomes the a f C East to
Tom Brady, like why would you leave? Like if you
you dominate the conference, and I would rather take my
chances cake walking through the Eastern Conference and getting into

(46:16):
an NBA finals totally outmatched, then getting beat up on
the way there, just for a more favorable matchup. If
I were to get to the finals, I'd rather take
my chances in the finals. I don't know why you'd
leave the East. It's only it's one, only one obstacle
to deal with instead of the three that you would
have to go through the Western Conference semifinals, the finals,
and then the NBA Finals. Yeah, that's that. That that

(46:36):
exact thinking, Jonas. Then all of a sudden triggers in
your mind. Okay, if Lebron wants to stay in the
East and then doesn't stay in Cleveland, where would he go? Well,
a place that I think a lot of people want
to go, Miami. And then they would take some some rehashing,
some revisiting between pat Riley and Lebron James to take
care of their relationship. The the fact is there aren't

(47:01):
tons of options for Lebron to go to in the NBA.
Earlier on the show, we were joined by Cedric Saballos,
our Fox Sports Radio NBA analysts, former Dunk champ and
former NBA All Star. Jonas asked him about the destinations
that are good and I guess not so good in
the NBA. Said talked about the latter earlier here on
The Dog Gallity Milwaukee. These cold places are just not

(47:23):
really great destinations. Um, you know that if you get
drafted there, obviously you have no choice. You have built
a good solid base there, you keep going with the
franchise that you're with. But if you have your choice
and and and you know, my day, we didn't have
that option where we could pick and choose wherever we
wanted to go like they do nowday you had you
had some good spots, so said Phoenix and l A

(47:43):
aren't bad. That's not bad to start out your career.
Oh yeah, and they need to even Dallas, you know,
with Mavericks. I mean, that's that's even great. And then
moving on to Miami. You know, I was a Sunshine
State that little that little four game stif that I
had in Detroit. I was begging joej Bar to get
me out of here for me and Joe Dumars brought
them an NBA championship and running the team like that.

(48:06):
But that's a perfect example. Like there's certain places that
are just not in the conversation. And so when you
bring up like like where could he go in the East,
Like when you brought it up, like, okay, uh destinations
in East? Where where could he go? Said? Brought up
in New York? But also the same breast said that
that's not happening because of Phil Jackson. Okay, so UM,
I know that they're too far, They're too far removed

(48:27):
from being even close to good. UM. I think Miami
is one. I think Boston is another. I think you
go to Boston. I'm just saying the possibilities of places
where if you would want to win. UM. I don't
know about d C. It's just it's would seem so
awkward to go with the Wizards. But Miami just seems
like the net. He's still has got a place down there.

(48:48):
That's what we connect Lebron to the Lakers with, don't we.
I mean that's I mean like Lebron's got a house
out of here. Said even said it himself that his
kids were enrolled in school out here. Same thing with Miami,
where he's got a home there. And and so when
you're trying to draw that, all of a sudden that
avenue ends up opening up. There's just there's so many
signs that just go back to the point of this

(49:08):
is it for Lebron and Cleveland, and whether it's Paul George,
whether it's David Griffin, whether it's the options that are
out there, or how things play out in the n
b A. I I just it's inevitable that I believe
it's going to happen in a little more than twelve
months from now. If I gave you a hundred dollar bill,
you walk up to a sports book in Vegas and
you're to bet on whether or not Lebron James will

(49:30):
win another NBA Championship. Would you bet yes or no?
Your Hunter bucks? Yes, I would, I would, I would
bet yes. Really, So, now, now where does that happen though,
I I just I would just side with him that
something is going to happen, and I'm on the I'm
on the side of history. And I've said this, I
said this yesterday in our Sunday Morning show. I don't

(49:51):
think that the Cavaliers who Warriors will meet for the
fourth straight year, just because we haven't seen a finals
until this past year, that the matchup was the same
for for three years in a row. I'm on the
side of history where I just don't think it's gonna
happen for the fourth time yet. And I know all
the pieces are out there, and I'm just on the
side of history as well that I know Lebron is
on the downside of his career, but I think that

(50:12):
someone of his caliber and the type of player that
he is isn't going to be done at three championships,
and so I think that there could be one more.
Whether it be in Miami, whether it be in l A.
Where it be in Cleveland this next year, I don't know,
but I would have to at least put my money
on Lebron for at least one more. When does his
drop off start? Because he had a pretty he was
pretty effective, He rested most of the regular season, He

(50:34):
was really really good in the playoffs, maybe the best
he's ever been. Like the drop off happened, you know,
and and and there's some there's some cases where it's
a slow decline, and then you'll get other cases like
Kobe Bryant Um or even Peyton manning him to a
more extreme where they get injured in one game, they
get a little banged up and they just plummet. That's
where it is. That it's where the injury because I
still think Lebron physically can outman anybody that he wants

(50:56):
on the court. Nobody's gonna be able to be stronger
than him at the position, nobody's going to be able
to do the things that he does at his size.
But it's him not being on the court. It's gonna
be it would probably be an injury wise, That's what
I think is going to be the sign of Okay,
all of a sudden, Lebron misses a little bit more
time and then a little bit more time here and there.
When that happens, I have no idea, but I think
that's how it plays out, just like it did with Kobe. Well.

(51:18):
For his sake, I hope he doesn't ever spend any
time with a Mon Green, former NFL running back. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
a Mon Green who apparently uh punched his daughter over
doing the dishes. She's fifteen anyway, so so just don't
do your dishes if you're near a Mon Green. I
saw that. I just thought i'd throw that in there,

(51:38):
has nothing to do. We can delete it from the
podcast if you want, Danny, I'm willing to do that.
If it doesn't make any sense, John Ramos, there it is,
I'm gonna leave that in. It's it's information that needs
to be put out to our listen. It's just an
awful story, an awful story out of Green Bay. We
are brought to you by True Car. With True Car,
you can find what what other people in your area
paid for the same car you're looking for, and on

(51:59):
average sable for three thousand dollars off M S r P.

a true car to enjoy a more confident car buying experience.
He is Dan Buyer. I am Jonas Knox. This is
Fox Sports Radio. We are in for Doug Gottlieb. Here.
You can always listen on the I Heart Radio app
as well as on serious x M channel eighty three,
and you can get Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer

(52:19):
on Fox. Up next, though, there is somebody in the
NFL that you are not very fond of. They are
going to be making a ton of money when you
hear the actual numbers and who they are prepared to
be piste off. That's next. This is the Doug Gottlieb
Show on Fox Sports Radio. No Doug today, but you

(52:41):
got us p k R. I'm Dan Buyer. That's Jonas Knox.
He is Johnny Ramos hanging out and you can always
reach us on social media. I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox.
Jonas Yours is pretty easy, right, yeah? At the Jonas Knocks.
John Roma's different story. But John, if they wanted to
reach you on Twitter, what's the easiest way that they
could do? So? Well? Sometimes I know a little crazy,
and I did with this one at j S Romos

(53:03):
zero six. I've noticed the guys when you type in John,
you know, like in the search box to find John's address,
doesn't come up, so like, and then I'll go j
O j o h. You know, nothing comes up when
you type js there it is right the time, immediately.
First recommendation, easy as pie. If you had to pick

(53:24):
a quarterback in the National Football League to win a
game tomorrow, h Jonas, who would you pick? Any game? Okay?
Are they backed up on their own goal line? Sure? Okay?
Daniels safety team wins? Brady, Yeah, Brady. I think that's
fair enough. If Brady wasn't available, John, who would you take?

(53:46):
And if Rogers and Brady weren't available, Ryan Music, that's tough.
I guess it's Dalton so bad, I can see it.
I guess I would go with someone experience like Ben Roethlisberger. Okay, yeah, perfect?
Perfect is Gascon does even want to chime in on this,
he's doing he's reading Reuters with I'd go with I'd

(54:11):
go Derek Carr. Trevor Simeon, Okay, well, Derek Carr, can
we can we dump Dave out of the podcast? What
he did was not prove our point. The fact is
I Derek Carr wasn't on my immediate list of anybody
to win a game tomorrow. Okay, um, But nothing against
Derek Carr. I understand why he's the highest paid quarterback

(54:32):
in the NFL and the highest paid player in the
NFL because you pay that quarterback position a lot of money.
But now, what is going to happen in the National
Football League that I don't think jonas people are aware of,
is that we are on the verge of of something
that could be uh maybe the size of a of
an armageddon, okay in apocalypse, because we could have an NFL.

(54:56):
We're Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford are the highest paid
players in NFL street And it is amazing to think
and we understand how quarterbacks You don't have to tell
us on on how quarterback deals are done, and that
the next contract is going to be bigger and bigger
and bigger. But the fact is, Kirk Cousins has got
the franchise tag with the Redskins and at some point

(55:17):
will likely get a long term deal. I believe there's
now a report that Matthew Stafford, who will hit free agency,
could be getting an extension Jonas with the floor of
his negotiations being the Derek Carr contracts not coach. So
Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins, who are on the verge
of getting long term deals, will be getting more money

(55:39):
than Derek Carr and becoming the highest paid players in
the National Football I just picture Kirk Cousins the the
announcement of the deal. He's going to get like a
five year, three and fourteen million dollar contract. And I
can just picture former GM Scott McCluin sitting somewhere in
a bowling alley drinking a white Russian going even morons,

(56:01):
I told you we should have sided of years ago.
But it would have saved a hundred fifty million dollars,
you dummies. If they would have given Cousins what two
years already four million up front, which is what he
made the last two years, and then put whatever they
wanted on the back of it, he would have taken
it at the time. Man. And and when you sit
there and you compare numbers, there are numbers that are
very similar to car Stafford and Kirk Cousins. Now, Stafford's

(56:26):
a little bit older than the other two, but when
you look at their accomplishments and what has going on,
We've got a total account of four four Pro Bowl
appearances for the four quarterbacks, and I know that Derek
carrt will be making Pro Bowls year after year after year.
This is more about Stafford and Cousins, and this is
more on how the NFL is in in in a
way that is amazing, Jonas. Where Major League Baseball will

(56:50):
pay the best players the highest amount, the NBA Lebron
is the highest paid player in the You know Mike
Conny got the big deal, but that was just timing
of it. Were the NFL phase their players the least,
and not even their best players get paid. It is
it's I want Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins and Derek
hard to get the money that they deserve. But when
you put that highest paid label on them, which they

(57:12):
are on the verge of, it's it's very tough to take.
And I think it would have to be tough to
take for any of the names that we mentioned in quarterbacks,
we would want to win a game for us. It
is funny, though, when you think when you remember back
so and I get that the times change price tag,
you know, the prices go up all that stuff, Like
you can go back and look at at you know,
gas back in the day was a dollar. I get it.

(57:33):
That's just the way it works, that's the economy. But
it's amazing how much heat the Bears got for giving
Jay Cutler seventeen million dollars. And we're and that was
not that long ago. That was after We're a couple
of years away from what do we let's let's say, like,
what are we talking about here? Thirty million? I think,

(57:54):
I honestly think you could pay Tom Brady thirty million,
and you could pay Aaron Rodgers thirty million dollars. And
I don't think people would have a problem with it.
Like I wouldn't have an issue. It's just the it's
the next you know, like the next the next way. Yeah,
it's it's it's the next step up from that. And
it's it's crazy how that works. And this this is
one thing I was thinking about too. If you were

(58:17):
and and a lot of people have like the way
the Raiders structured this contract is really fascinating because what
the Raiders did is they they basically backloaded the contract
for Derek carrs to where a lot of the money
he's gonna get less money up front and he's going
to spend the whole I did it so my teammates
could also get signed bs you got more back end money.

(58:37):
Also when you're gonna be in the state of Nevada
and there's no state income tax, so that's even more
money than you're gonna get. The other element of this too.
And I didn't even think about this, but I was
talking with Brady Quinn this weekend, former NFL quarterback here
on Fox Sports Radio, and he was saying that there
are situations in the NFL where you go to get
contracts and you and a lot of fans don't think

(58:57):
this way. But one of those situations that's really good
for a lot of a lot of players is when
players get paid, they get taxed on where their home
state is their home games of eight games, but also
where they played on the road. So the best case
scenario for an NFL player if you're going to play

(59:18):
outside of like Vegas because that's an attractive place now,
or South Beach or something like that. The best division
to sign a contract in is the a f C
South because let's say you sign with the Jaguars, you
play eight home games in the state of Florida, no
state tax. You also go on the road to where
Tennessee no state tax, Houston, Texas, no state tax. The

(59:40):
only place you play taxes in is in Indianapolis. Like
the game has changed, It's no longer about like these
guys are so much smarter financially. So when people are
complaining about how these contracts work now, I think players
have just gotten smarter. They figured this out and and
these these prices on quarterbacks are only going to go
up from here. I don't want to get in anyone's pocket.

(01:00:01):
But when we talk about time you want, any time
you want right now, if if I if I want to,
I don't want to sit there and say you can
make this much, you should make that much. It's none
of my business. But what I think is interesting with
the NFL owners in the c b A. Everything has
worked out great for the owners, okay, but when you're
talking on a specific individual basis, on how each owner's

(01:00:24):
team performs. Washington, the Lions, the Ravens, they're they're all
put in this position where they have to pay quarterbacks.
We've talked about it for how many years ever since
Joe Flacco was able to hit the jackpot bet on
himself and one. That's where really this all started. Where
now teams, teams are so fearful of losing a quarterback

(01:00:46):
because they don't want to drop in the bottom ten
of the National Football League, that they're going to the
point of just paying whoever. And that's where we are.
I brought up this article. Um found it yesterday Christmas Eve,
when Troy Aikman became the highest paid player in the NFL.
He sent an eight year deal worth fifty million dollars. Okay, okay,
what's even more amazing when we're talking about there could

(01:01:09):
be a time in the near future where Matthew Stafford,
Derek Carr, and Kirk Cousins are the three highest paid
players in the NFL. This was the top ten. Okay,
you're ready for this. The top ten players paid in
were Troy Aikman, Steve Young, John Elway, Barry Sanders, Reggie White,
Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Joe Montana, Joe Montana, Emmett Smith,

(01:01:30):
and Thurman Thomas, every single one of them Hall of Famers,
and we've got four Pro Bowls between these three guys.
Amazing on how the NFL. It's the business is completely changed.
Guys are getting more educated, They're playing their cards smarter
like it's it's not how it was man like that.
That's why I just I don't think people have, like

(01:01:51):
in Derek Carr situation, I don't think they realize the
advantage that the Raiders are going to have in free
agency moving forward, cost of living and everything else that
you now factor in. How do you turn down Vegas?
How do you turn it if you're a young guy, like, oh,
you know, you can go play and make millions of
dollars and get affordable housing. Like there was a crazy

(01:02:13):
a website actually put it together where they were talking
about some of the advantages that you have comparative to
where if you were to play in Oakland as opposed
to if you were to play in Vegas. And one
of the advantages they talked about was just cost of
living and everything else that's included in it, and um,
it's and I'm clearly stalling because I'm finding the paper
right now and I thought was right on the top.

(01:02:33):
So this is a professional stall job. Don't try this
at home, kids, um and and if you want to
help me out at just stalling as well too, well,
I I would say, first of all, living in California
is difficult, no matter what. Okay, when you're looking at
all the different taxes. We know the the the advantages
that happened with Arizona and Texas and Florida, we know
that much. But you know, Nevada, Nevada is kind of

(01:02:54):
new to all this because there have never been a
sports team that was in the vad until now with
the hockey team and soon to be the Raiders. So
there's a lot of newfound information that we're finding out
about Nevada and how beneficial it can be too pro
athletes who now we'll be residing in the state. Got it, Dan?

(01:03:14):
All right? Check this out Nano. According to so this
is a CNN has a cost of living calculator. All right,
So life in Vegas they're talking about just the difference
between the two. Housing is about fifty three percent less
expensive in Vegas than in Oakland. Utilities and groceries are
just under ten percent cheaper, and bank rate dot com,
a website, estimates that a raider could take a twenty

(01:03:37):
six percent pay cut and maintain the same standard of
living in Vegas. Like just imagine you out there, whatever
you make a year, if I took away over a
fourth year paycheck and said it doesn't matter, same life like,
it's crazy. Like the advantage that they will have over
other over other teams. So just I think the business
model has changed. But what a world man, Stafford and cousins,

(01:03:59):
huh soon to be? That's the world that we're gonna
be living in. Good for them, uh, Dan buyer Jonas
knocks is is Fox Sports Radio Company alive from the
Geico or excuse me from Farmer's Insurance. Sorry about that, Dan,
that's a bad habit. It takes more than a roof
to make sure your home is covered. Farmers Insurance has
over eighty nine years of knowledge and experience so you
can protect what's important to you. Learn more at Farmers

(01:04:22):
dot com. All right, so, Dan Buyers put together a
hell of an idea. We are going to hand out
the most important awards that you will hear about in
sports all throughout the year. This is huge, it is breaking.
You will not hear it anywhere else and it's just
sixty seconds away from now. First though, let's find out
what's trending. No Doug today, You've got b k R.
I'm Dan Buyer, that's Jonas Knocks. Johnny Ramos is here

(01:04:43):
as well. For the first time ever, the NBA Awards
will take place tonight. Uh They're on t n T.
The NBA's Most Valuable Player Award will be given out.
Three finalists why Leonard Russell Westbrook and James Arton. But
there are other awards as well, Coach of the Year,
Most Improved, Rookie of the Year, six Man Award, how
about the Twyman Stokes Teammate of the Year Award? Yes,

(01:05:05):
that coming out as well. All of those will be
handed out tonight. So and again you've done it, Dan,
what's that You've come up with an amazing idea. We
are going to present to you our own award show
here on The Doug Gottlieb Show. In It's fantastic. Your
host for the NBA Awards show on Fox Sports. Ready

(01:05:29):
on the Doug Gottlieb Show is the one and only
David Gascony was Cud Shelvian Shelman. Thank you very much.
Let's American best friend of David Destar. Our first award
of the night will be presented by the co host
of Fox Sports Sunday, who once went one for nine

(01:05:51):
from the floor, including shooting an air ball on a
pull up jumper from about eight feet out in a
loss in a high school basketball game. Ladies and general
him in that jumper went six weeks. Imagine my surprise
when it fell short. Guys, what a great year in

(01:06:11):
the NBA. As you heard, the NBA was fantastic, great
sights and sounds, What a colorful season. I give to
you the award for worst color scheme in the NBA.
You know me and logos and and football helmets and designs.
I am a big fan and I am honored to

(01:06:31):
give out the award for worst color scheme in the NBA.
Our nominees are the New Orleans Pelicans, yes, the Oklahoma
City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks. Okay, the Hawks with
that neon green and red and the Thunder with their colors,
and the New Orleans Pelicans with their red, white and

(01:06:54):
blue and for some reason gold. The winner is the
Oklahoma City Thunder. What what color are the Thunder? Every
single one? Okay, blue, yellow, orange, gray, white. It is
the worst combination of colors that I have ever seen

(01:07:15):
for a professional sports team. The only time you see
those colors together, I kid you, not are on a
severe weather map. Okay. I have no idea if they're blue,
if they're orange, if they're yellow, if they're black, if
they're gray, if they're white, no idea. But somehow they're
all in the colors of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Congrats
to the Thunder on your award, which is surprising because

(01:07:37):
I think when they became a franchise, you were one
of the first people to go to a store there
in Oklahoma City try and find the merchant. Yeah, I
got a T shirt that was gray and blue. Okay,
that's it. Little did I know? Okay, I mean alright,
they put off gentlemen. Our next presenter can be heard
on the airwaves during drive time in Bangladesh. Is also

(01:08:00):
the walking soundtrack for drunks and drug addicts all across
this great nation. He's got a thumb ring ladies and
gentleman Jonas knocks, it's great to be here. Here we go.
It's great. It's absolutely great to be here. Um, I'm here.
I want to thank everybody for for welcoming in. I
am here to announce the winner for the award of

(01:08:23):
most Glable fan Base in the NBA. All right, the
most glible fan base in the n B A and
your nominees are the New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls,
the New Orleans Pelicans, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the l A Lakers,

(01:08:45):
and the l A Clippers. Okay, it's like at the
Oscars Best Picture there's seventeen movies, a bunch of nominees
here to Uh, let me see who who got this?
I like the screen. We've got sick squares on all
these past fan base and the award of most Global

(01:09:07):
fan Base in the NBA goes to La La Land.
Was this call waiting? No, no, no, it was not
La La Land, Ladies and gentlemen, the New York all right.
I mean, when you get duped into believing, when you

(01:09:31):
get duped into believing that joke him Noah and Derrick
Rose are the missing piece to being able to contend
in the East. You're a moron. Most global fan base
in the NBA's I heard you were accepting on their
behalf because Phil Jackson is asleep during that. Yeah, I
will be doing that. Yes, our next presenter can be

(01:09:53):
seen driving around Los Angeles in a brand new Tesla
and it's music to the ears of his lady friend,
ladies and gentlemen. It's Ryan music, all right. It's so
good to be here, so good to be here. Yeah,
oh yeah, brand new on loan from Doug Gottlieb himself.

(01:10:17):
Music is a bridge between the material and spiritual. Well,
let me bridge this gap for all you NBA. I'll
be presenting the award for the most overblown non story
in the NBA turned into a talking all right and
my favorite. Yeah, this is what we do for a living.

(01:10:38):
This was a long two game regular season. We we
knew who was going to be in the finals all
year long, so it took a lot to come up
with some creative new topics. So here are some of
the most overblown topics from the season. Number one, LaVar
Ball having a negative effect on Lonzo Balls draft stock.

(01:11:01):
Number two the Celtics being the number one seed in
the East actually being the best team in the Eastern Conference,
and the last one when Kevin Durant was injured and
the Warriors went on a winning streak that somehow the
Warriors were a better team without Kevin Durant. This is compelling.

(01:11:26):
We got a lot of good glad I'm not betting
on this could already blew all my honey on on
cricket and we have the winner is LaVar Ball effect.
Congratulations if you honestly thought that LaVar Ball saying some
ridiculous comments was gonna get the Lakers to pass on

(01:11:48):
Lonzo like you think GM's are out there going. You
know what, this guy is a transformative talent, But you
know what, his father is just a little too much.
I would lose basketball games because I just can't handle
his Dad's my favorite because I know Kobe Bryant struggled
um and his parents sold and stole items from him.
What's amazing is LaVar Ball is here to accept his award. Hey,

(01:12:13):
I appreciate you know all right? That was actually very nice.
I didn't know, uh like he he must have been
on a different Mike. I guess Mike must have a
weird filter on it. Man. Uh, the Awards show just going.
I know there's a couple of moral awards that need
to be handed out, But I want to tell you first.

(01:12:34):
Today's show is brought to you by True Car. With
True Card, you can find out what other people in
your area paid for the same car you're looking for,
new or used. Visit True Car to enjoy a more
confident car buying experience. He is Dan Buyer. I am
Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio.
You can listen to this show on the I Heart
Radio app as well as on Serious XM Channel Lady three. Uh.

(01:12:55):
The NBA Awards continue, including the most anticipated award and
handed out in all of sports. It is just moments
away from capturing your ears and your hearts. We'll have
that for you next. Here on Fox Sports Radio, He's

(01:13:19):
Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer, John Ramos Sire as well
a b KR edition getting quite a big assist from
our executive producer David Gascon or excuse me, Ran Music
our Update anchor David Gascon doing double duty today as
he's the host of our NBA Awards show, which rolls
on here on the Doug Gottlieb Show. UM, just to
recap Jonas the storyline in the NBA that was most

(01:13:43):
overblown award goes to LaVar Ball Okay and his antics
affecting Alonzo's situation with the Lakers. The most Illusionable Families
Award that you gave out when to Yeah, most gollable,
but they listen, we're splitting hairris here at the New
York Knicks, the New York believing that that was actually
gonna be a good product. Worse color scheme in the NBA.

(01:14:04):
Um and it's been this way for a while, award
went to the Oklahoma City Thunder And now I throw
it back to our Awards show host David Gascon for
the final two Awardsall our Final Awards tonight, when we
presented by the host of the John Ramo Show. He
led his all star soccer team to a sparkling oh

(01:14:26):
and ten record just a year ago. Ladies and gentlemen, Unfortunately,
boys and girls, Gen Ramos, are you really always you
were the Lions? It was. It was a tough season,
but the girls, you know, work through it. So okay,

(01:14:48):
let's get into the My pick for today, which is
the best confrontation by a warrior and a reporter during
the NBA Final for first jof is Kevin Durant with
the famous line, I'm tired if Raymond did not make
that call that he said he made a few days ago,

(01:15:09):
that he didn't make that call not right after the game? Okay,
when when? When was the first conversation? I mean, was
he the first warrior to reach out to you? Well?
Does it matter right now? Oh? No, just a curiosity
about how those like what the first conversation was about. Like,
you know, I've been talking about this all season. I'm
tired of it at this point. I'm not mad or anything.
I'm just saying at this point, as the finals, I'm

(01:15:31):
trying to stay where we are. I'm trying to stay
locked in and like it's been a whole year now,
so it's I mean, it's sober. Suck it up. Of course.
Why you couldn't go any farther unless you had Draymond Green?
And this one is back and forth, Draymond. I understand
your thoughts of um, you know how you been able

(01:15:52):
to restrain yourself emotionally, uh, you know, and avoid and
avoid getting well avoid get avoid this. You act like
I'm just this trouble you know God, But you know,
in a bunch of trouble and can't control myself. And
you know you've avoided, you've avoided going over the line
right to get you know so far, which is I've

(01:16:16):
been waiting on you, waiting on him to go across
the I'm interested in what is. I don't know how
he's been able to do that. I've just been playing basketball, brothers.
It's hard. He's all in a month span. You don't
hear a guy dropping old school j C reference in
a sound bite. Either that's good for but last, but
not least one of the double time m v P

(01:16:37):
Steph Curry and this one it was a great section
cubed squatting stuff. I'm sorry we keep asking you about squatting.
Were you just stretching there? And what did Richard Jefferson
say to you? Right now? You gotta be better? People
are come on now, man, this is crazy. You gotta
be better than that. People are curious. I really don't
have an answer for that. That's the crazesting I've ever
heard of. Feel like is there you go, there are nominees,

(01:17:02):
people curious, and the winner goes to Draymond Green. All right,
you know how you've been able to restraining yourself emotionally, uh,
you know, and avoid and avoid getting I'm just this
trouble you know. Oh. Yes. The best part about that drop, though,

(01:17:30):
that is when the drop starts the question, he poses
it to Draymond. Listen, listen, everybody loves Draymond. I heard
Lebron James won an award earlier that we couldn't broadcast. John,
you have the winner of that. Yes, yes, earlier we
had Lebron James and his great confrontations, and the winner

(01:17:53):
for that one goes to this one. You really here
a podium guy, I mean anything, the finals, especially just
kind doing this in the locker. You want to share there.
It is, by the way, m A Awards show tonight,
And it wouldn't be an Awards show without in in

(01:18:13):
memoriam and as euro Jack tweets in John Ramos's Cata
memorium after being killed by the neighbor's dog, Um, we
remember puddles. What was it? What was the toe tags? Yeah,
kitty boom, Yeah, but I know actually no, it was

(01:18:35):
chew toy, wasn't it? Was it? NBA Awards tonight. You're
gonna get an m v P. I think it's gonna
be Russell rest in peace to a John's cat floss
it we think boo kitty h for Kitty boo. Um So, Dan,
there's check this out, Dan Buyer. Jonas knocks in for

(01:18:57):
Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Rading. What does kidy
this same? Yeah, I didn't say much. You want to
know why, because he's dead. I couldn't do without Johnny
Ramos is well, good to have you. As NBA free
agency is on the horizon and Paul George is not
going to be a free agent now, but he could

(01:19:18):
be on the move in the NBA. Another report over
the weekend said that Paul George was part of a
package that would send the Indiana Pacers forward to Cleveland.
That deal would have Kevin Love going from Cleveland to
the Denver Nuggets. That deal is not going to happen.
There was also another report that came from Thursday's Draft
Jonas that had Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade possibly getting

(01:19:40):
bought out of their contracts to become members of the
Cleveland Cavaliers. So there's a lot of a lot of
rumors going on. How realistic that is, who knows. We
get this at that this time of year. But when
you step back and you look at how the Paul
George situation is going to play out, how the Carmelo
Anthony or Dwyne Wade situations are gonna play out, how
the Jimmy Butler situation she did play out with the

(01:20:00):
Minnesota Timberwolves. There are a couple of things that really
now stand out. Number one, the East is weaker than
it even was at the start of the playoffs. There
was a point that you may and if you end
up making Paul George a member of the Western Conference
next season or at some points within the next twelve months,
the East is gonna even become weaker. So then the

(01:20:21):
question is why would Lebron James want to leave? And
I truly believe from all the moves that we have
seen so far for the first three weeks or since
the NBA Finals ended, all signs point to Lebron James
leaving the leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers after the season. There

(01:20:42):
were the l A rumors, there's the David Griffin firing.
There's now the Paul Dred Paul George trade talk that
I just think if Paul George is destined to go
to l A, which I think he is. Why would
the Cleveland Cavaliers end up making this deal for a
for a one year rental if Lebron was really in
it for the long term. And I don't think Lebron
James would be able to convince Paul George. I think

(01:21:03):
that the Cavaliers would have to look at more long
term answers. They're not doing so, and that just tends me,
allows me to think that this is it for Lebron
James in Cleveland. Yeah, it doesn't. It seem also like
Cleveland's the only team in the NBA that's thinking short term,
like if you think about it, because they're the only
team that you would look at and go, well, there,
you know, a piece or a piece and a half

(01:21:25):
away from beating the Golden State Warriors. So where everybody
else in the NBA is like, we're not anywhere close.
Why are we going to deal away all these assets
for what? What's the point? Like Minnesota made a move,
but Minnesota always had a log jam in their backcourt anyway,
So getting rid of Levine, uh, you know, getting rid
of Kristan who didn't work out his rookie year, I mean, whatever,
that's gonna has gone to as well as they try

(01:21:45):
to make a move. And Thibodeaux loves Jimmy Butler. Those
guys got along pretty well in Chicago, so they you know,
that's a match that will work out well. Like nobody
else in the NBA is looking around going Okay, guys,
this is the year gotta happen. It's like like the
haves are the only ones doing this, and so it
just created this sense of desperation that is so obvious,

(01:22:07):
like it's so transparent what they're doing. I even think
the drafting of Jordan Bell by the Warriors to give
up the amount of money that they did to bring
him in shows that they are also looking ahead, which
is a great move by them, by the way. Yeah,
and and and Draymond Green's response to the trade. I
know it wasn't necessarily positive, and Bob Meyers the GM
tried to play it off is Draymond Green joking? But

(01:22:27):
I also think that Draymond Green knows that, hey, guess
what my replacement could be in the wings if I
keep on keep on acting up. I just I I
feel that the the the Cavaliers really, I mean, this
is this is a Boston team that again didn't make
a deal. And we may want to harp on Danny Ainge,
but I think that he also understands what's going on
in Cleveland. Maybe the only other team that could could

(01:22:49):
possibly try to live in the present that may change
would be the Clippers, just because there may be in
a similar situation, but with Blake and Chris Paul opting
out their futures and what they do could have a
have a roll. But you're right, the Cavaliers are the
only ones who are thinking right now, let's just try
to let's try to do what we can in the
next twelve months to be successful and say that to

(01:23:10):
heck with whatever else could be going on after that.
And here's the other thing too, And I was thinking
about this because there are people that have criticisms about
how the NBA regular season was played, and we were
on the air a lot during that time, and you know,
it was some of the same conversations that we're coming
up about guys resting, um, you know, being unwatchable at times,
advertisers being upset that star players are sitting out primetime

(01:23:32):
games like they were not happy about that part of
the NBA, and There's also we were on the air
a bunch as well too, And I mean we just
watched the NBA playoffs that by and large were terrible.
I mean there was a month and a half of
the majority of the time bad basketball being played. I mean,
were there any really compelling series outside of the finals
And even that only went five games other than Boston Washington,

(01:23:54):
so that's the only one. And and it still didn't
have the cachet because you knew that the Cavaliers were
waiting in the wings, like and there was potential, but
none of it ever lived up to it. So the
guy that got a lot of the heat for that,
and got a lot of the heat for the way
the NBA was played during the regular season, with the
resting issue the main focus here, but also the fact
that the NBA Finals were just the NBA Playoffs were

(01:24:16):
just you know, sort of build up for the finals
and nothing more. There was no real threat of it
being any other way and the outcome being any other
different was Lebron James was the guy that, because he's
the face of the league, got a lot of heat
for it. Well, Lebron started this and he started this
stuff where guys are leaving to go to super teams.
And if if Lebron hadn't jumped back to Miami and

(01:24:37):
then over to Cleveland again, then Kevin Durant would have
never done what he did before. Okay, if you want
to blame it on Lebron, and I disagree with it,
but I'll just go with you, and let's just I'll
agree with your argument. If I'll concede that let's blame
Lebron for that, then you better give that dude some
credit because he has turned the NBA off season into
one of the more exciting and interesting l mints of

(01:25:00):
sports talk and sports fodder throughout the entire year. NFL
included the NBA off season. They own June and July.
It's it's not even close anymore. And I think a
large a lot of that is how these teams have
now tried to figure out how they're going to build
and how they're going to design their rosters to be
entertaining to make money, but to try and hopefully build

(01:25:22):
something long term, and that has to do with Lebron James.
I think the NBA, to your point, also recognizes what
they have done with free agency over these last couple
of years, and I really the Lebron decision, the way
that it was stretched out as it did, did extend it.
But what we saw last year with Kevin Durant and
now what we've seen with the changes in the salary

(01:25:42):
cap and our teams and and opt outs with contract
makes this window so interesting. The NBA recognizes it, and
the reason that we know that they recognize it is
because of what they're doing tonight. They put this NBA
Awards Show after the NBA Draft leading up to free agency,
where the window does extended to July. As you said,
if this was free Lebron going to Miami, this award show,

(01:26:06):
the NBA Draft was the end of the NBA regular season,
it was it was done, your summer started. That was it.
But over these last couple of weeks, you've now provided
more conversation so the NBA can put their awards show
in June where I'm sorry, anything scheduled in the summer
is not going to be a ratings hit. It's it's
outside of the Big three. Outside of the Big three, sure,

(01:26:28):
but it's not going to be something that the the
the major major sports leagues would have that they would
want to do. You're not gonna see the NFL having
the NFL Draft in July. It's just it's not going
to happen. So the NBA recognizes that. And to your
point about Lebron, and then just going back to to
the decision, the fact that Lebron made his decision. While

(01:26:49):
it ripped the Hearts out of Cleveland, it provided great drama,
awesome and and and and I know we've talked about
this before, but if you could have free agents, always
do this. Be like, you know what, July six is
the day that Chris Paul actually announces who. So seven
o'clock Eastern time we find out who Chris Paul. You
could dominate it. We we get critical of high school

(01:27:12):
kids picking hats, which, by the way, I think is great.
I know it's all I do think it's I think
it's unique. I think it's showmanship, and I like the
drama of it because there's a winner and a loser,
and it's something that we want. If you had a
similar thing in the NBA Jonas where if you had
three hats in front of Chris Paul, you know they
had the Spurs, the Clippers and Cavaliers for just the

(01:27:33):
sake of this argument, how great would it be for
those just to be able to watch that, to see
what had Chris Paul puts on? And that would all
stem from the decision that Lebron ended up making when
he went to Miami. It's it's a television show. It's
a product, television product. I mean, come on, let's not
let's not forget that. And I just think that here's

(01:27:53):
a perfect example, all right, when there's a holiday like
a Christmas, A you know, thanks Giving, um, you know,
Fourth of July like some of these bit Memorial Day,
when there's a big holiday, percent of the time, you
don't hear your regular sports tak hosts on the air.
They take those days off. That's a holiday for them.

(01:28:15):
So you get guys like Dan and I, you know,
the guys who are normally part of the We are
the kitchen crew in the restaurant. Okay, and occasionally when
the main waiter and main bartender are out, we get
to sling drinks and bring out food like that is
that's how it works. When did Kevin and and a
lot of the reason is because there's not huge sporting
news going on. There's some games and stuff like that,

(01:28:36):
but there's not huge sporting news that happens on holidays.
When did the Kevin Durant story get broken last year
that he was leaving to go to the Golden State
Warriors fourth of July? We were here that day when
that story broke. That was a national holiday, and it
didn't matter if it would have been the fifth, the sixth,

(01:28:57):
or whatever, that was still a giant story. Or the
NBA has dominated these two months. They've owned it, and
I think a lot of it has to do with
the way Lebron started building these whatever super teams, but
building his legacy and and and trying to manipulate his career.
Other players have followed along, and people can complain all
they want, but you know what gives us something to

(01:29:18):
talk about in June July. And it's interesting now. One
of the drawbacks could be if we were just put
on a TV show where guys put on hats and
did different things to show what teams are going to
there could be certain teams that are left out of
the mix, maybe more often than not. Okay, Earlier on
the show, we spoke with Cedric Saballos, Fox Sports Radio,
NBA analyst, former dunk champ and former All Star, and

(01:29:38):
the question was posed to Cedric about the worst possible
place you could go, and in this specific instance, Jonas
asked him where were the worst place for Paul George
to go if the Indiana Pacers were to trade him
in the final year of his contract. This from Cedric
Sabalos earlier. It wouldn't be the furthest away from l A.
But I sent him the Sacramento that's so close, so

(01:30:03):
oh yeah, yeah, dangle it in front of him. One
I can't. I can't give him away to the Eastern
Conference because he's gonna come back and burn me. So
I have to send him West. If I send him
to Denver, Denver has been improving, they had a pretty
good record, uh towards the end of the season. That's
gonna make them contenders and then possibility I have to
deal with that and practically helping the team get back

(01:30:24):
in the playoffs and being contenders. So I would try
to send him to the bottom as possible. I mean,
it's the worst case scenario. I will send him to
Sacramento And said brought up a good point earlier in
the interview too, And maybe if Indiana is not going
to get much back because he's blown their leverage all
the way through. Why wouldn't they just told on, oh

(01:30:44):
you don't you want to be traded tough balls. You're
playing pal and you're playing here like it's it's a
great But I just think at some point, the asking
price of it's if if I can get this much
for that, I mean the the the value of something
is what somebody is going to pay you for it.
And I think that at the end maybe they would say,

(01:31:05):
like sticking around picks not worth it. We'll just you know,
keep him here out of spite. I I think at
some point they've got to give up something. But be
interesting to see if the basers decided to turn the
tables on Paul George. He is Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas
Knox and for Doug Gottliep here on Fox Sports Radio.
You can always listen to the show on the I
Heart Radio app, and you can get Dan on Twitter

(01:31:49):
could be on his way to a potential title contender.
That's next year. On FSR. Doug is not here. I'm
Dan Buyer. That's Jonas Knox, He's John rob Us. Got
you covered on a b KR edition today here on
Fox Sports Radio. NBA Awards tonight. We had our own
awards earlier. I will say this, Jonas, I want to quit.
Just throw this out here. I don't care about the

(01:32:11):
awards that will be handed out tonight. All I care
about is the m v P. I'm curious to see
who wins that. The NBA needs to do this award
like the Heisman Trophy. They just need to take the
m v P, make an hour long program. You can
highlight Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Lebron Kai however you want
to do it um with the voting that comes in.
I don't care about all of the other awards. I mean,
I really don't. Don't think it has the cash of

(01:32:33):
you don't go that deep in NBA awards to make
people actually care about, like supporting actor like you do
with the Oscars. I think this needs to be done
like the Heisman, making an m v P sort of thing.
You don't need a whole award show to tell me
who made the All Defensive Team. I disagree. I think
it should be done like the Royal Rumble. Uh thirty,
the thirty best players in the NBA, last one standing
wins all right? Every every minute or two minutes, another

(01:32:54):
guy comes out to the ring. Let's break this tie.
Let's see what Kurt Healing thinks. How the NBA should
handle their basketball duties are the basketball award duties? Of course?
Kurt from Pro Basketball Talk editor blogger in chief. Get
him on Twitter at Basketball Talk. Are you a fan
of this award show that's gonna happen tonight? Don't you
want to wait and see how it plays out? Kurt?
First off, you should know that just mentioning everybody in

(01:33:16):
a Royal Rumble, Blake Griffin got injured. He's trying. He's
trying to get paid this offseason, and he will get paid.
I'm not sure if he's gonna get that five year max,
but he'll get paid. You know, it's the first year
they've done it with this full award show as opposed
to just kind of releasing the announcement, And it's the
timing of it is I think what they've got to

(01:33:37):
work on, Like, like you said, like the Heisman happens
before the Bulls, right like by the time you get
the Major Bulls, and it's the same thing. The NFL
does that big award ceremony, but it's like the night
before or the week before the Super Bowl. We're already
passed the end of the Finals for a couple of weeks.
Now we're past the NBA Draft, everybody's ramping up for

(01:33:57):
free agency, and now you're trying to kind of spin
the excitement about the NBA Awards and like you said,
their interest this year in you know, whether it's Westbrook
or Harden, but is there really Like like you said,
there's not that much interest in the other awards, and
most years probably know who that was. We probably know
who the m v P was, and there wouldn't be
that much interesting. It's they've got to figure out how

(01:34:19):
to do it earlier. Kurt Healen, from editor in chief
from Pro Basketball Talk, joining us here on Fox Sports Radio,
um free agencies a few days away. Here Kurt, who's
the first big name gone? And gut feeling where does
he end up? Oh, that's a good question. Somebody, somebody,
somebody always signs really quickly. Like I'll be honest with you,

(01:34:40):
I'm like my my blocks throwing a big fourth or
July block party, but on the second. So somebody will
sign on the second so that I can't go to
that and threw it up. Just just how it will go. Uh,
you know, you know it's gonna be interesting to watch
because it could bottle neck a little. Chris Paul's gonna
take a lot of meetings, Blake Griffin will talk to people.
One guy who get sneak in and sign early is

(01:35:02):
Paul Millsap. Like there's real demand for Paul Millsap out there.
I mean, this is a guy who's almost made the
All Defensive team today. He's he's a you know, he
can rebound for you, we can score inside, he can
hit enough threats that you gotta respect him. Like, this
is a really good player. And there's a lot of
teams interested in him Denver and just a host of
free agents. So he might be one who sneaks in

(01:35:24):
early as opposed to a guy who takes a ton
of meetings Kurt Heal and joining us here on the
Doug Gottlief Show. He's Jonas Knox. I'm Dan Buyer. As
we're talking about in the NBA and free agency, which
is on the horizon, is there a big domino that
has to fall that we'll see other guys follow through? Um,
you know it, would it be a Chris Paul would
it be? Um? What's the big domino out there? I

(01:35:44):
think it's the two Clippers because look, we all know
Gordon Hayward's out there. He's the other guy. He could
land in Boston, like within twenty four hours of this
thing starting. I don't know how quickly that's gonna go,
but you know, that could be really fast. But I
think the bottleneck will be because it really but Chris
Paul and Blake Griffin do impacts a lot of other people.
And also, you know, like what is san Antonio doing?

(01:36:06):
You know, Houston's gonna go hard at them. You know,
there's just a lot of teams gonna make runs at
Chris Paul in particular, He's gonna meet with a lot
of teams so everybody's kind of gonna be on hold
waiting for CP three to make a decision. Then if
he goes and Griffin goes, now the Clippers are you
can get DeAndre Jordan in a trade suddenly, like j J.
Reddick is there and he'll be gone as a free
agent to um. They're that once the first one of

(01:36:30):
those dominoes falls, a lot of other dominoes starts fall.
I think he's kind of that'll be the bottleneck for
a lot of teams. Kurt Helen, blogger in chief from
Pro Basketball Talk, joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
We're talking about this earlier. I think that and Dan
kind of disagreed a little bit. I think that Paul
George put Indiana in a terrible spot, you know, basically
going public with I'm going to be a Laker, I'm

(01:36:52):
opting out. It's sort of killed a lot of the
leverage that they had in these negotiations. How do you
see this playing out in Indiana? And is there a
chance that they just on him and say screw it?
A slim one, But I think eventually somebody will cave
and give them something closer to what they want, or
they'll just take whatever the Lakers are offering, because that's
kind of by by putting the Lakers specifically out there,

(01:37:14):
you really let you're right, and that you really limit
the market. I get trying to be honest with them
as opposed to I don't know what I'm gonna do.
I don't know what I'm gonna do, and then leave
at the last minute and and leave them hanging like
that's that's even if you do you know, if you
know what you're gonna do, And I don't like Kevin
don't least day. I don't think genuinely knew what he
was going to do. If you know what you're going
to do, you should let the team know. But by

(01:37:36):
being as public as it was, unless you're Cleveland or
Boston or somebody who thinks that they can win him
over because they will win and or have the culture
to do so, Like you're renting him, So now what
am I paying for him? Like, I'm just not going
to give you anything. So yeah, they left him. He
left them in a a tough spot. And I thought
Kevin Pritchard, the GM, the new GM that's kind of

(01:37:56):
taken over for for Larry Bird. There was really on
us at this late night draft night press conference, and
he was just constantly said, look, it was a gut punch.
It was a gut punch to be told this by
by Paul George's people. And he's like, I don't want
to make a decision when I'm angry. I don't want
to trade mad, basically what he said, I'm not going

(01:38:18):
to make a good decision if I do that, And
that's part of what's holding him back, Like he's got
to be more dispassionate, and I don't think he felt
like he was in that place. And it's funny because
when you watch the video of Kevin Pritchard, he looks
like a guy that has either a just come off
at ten day bender or be a guy who just
realized that his careers and shambles like he looked. He
looked gutted, absolutely gutted. Yeah, And and it's a tough

(01:38:40):
spot because you're like, I'm taking over the Pacers and
and now you're really what you're saying is I'm taking
over a major rebuilding project with Myles Turner, and like
I like Miles Turner, nice flayer, but there's a lot
of work there to do, and it's gonna be hard
to get and you said you like you can say,
they're just not going to get value back and it's
going to be a long process to rebuild. Pucher did
a really nice job of that, by the way up

(01:39:00):
in Portland, like he's capable of this, but it's going
to be a rough few years in Indiana. I I
and I said this to Jonas earlier. I gotta be
not that it was an acting job, but how in
the world is Kevin Pritchard not know this? I mean,
I think the only thing that you can be mad
about is that it was leaked out, Like I mean,
that's that's that's just the issue that I have with it.
Like you could say what you want to say. But

(01:39:21):
we've talked about this since since the Pacers were eliminated
and even before that in the playoffs about him possibly leaving,
So for him to say it was a gut pun checked.
That's the reason I think Larry Bird left to let
Kevin Pritchard take over the new Pacers and then he
wouldn't have to, you know, have any crossover, letting a
new guy take over the new team. I think some
of that s garbage. I first off, I think you're

(01:39:42):
largely right about Bird and that I think he was
at the point in his life where he's like, do
I want to keep doing this? Then it was pretty
obvious where this was gonna go on. No, I don't
want to do this, um and the other I think
they genuinely hoped that he would make the All NBA
team and they could give him a ton of money,
and that they could keep in there and try to
rebuild around him. And frankly, those massive new contracts, like

(01:40:05):
Steph Curry is gonna get the designated player once for
a smaller market team like like Indiana, it's a double
edged sword because now you're getting so much money to
this guy, it's gonna be hard to put a team
around him that's good enough. But they didn't get to
do that, and they didn't even get that option. And I,
like you said, they may have known this was coming intellectually,
but I don't think they really felt it, yeah, until

(01:40:25):
it happened. Final one for Kurt Healing, blogger in chief
of Pro Basketball Talking dot Com and on Twitter at
Basketball Talk. We started out the program talking about this
with Paul George, with David Griffin. Our gut feeling is
that this is the swan song for Lebron and Cleveland
throwing all the Laker rumors, the Clippers talk with it.

(01:40:46):
How long do you think Lebron James stays in the
Cavalier's uniform. I will say what I've heard just talking
to people around the league is that they think it's
very possible he leaves next year. But like he's just
going to leave all his options open because he's on James.
He has earned the right to have every option on
the table. But there's a sense that with the David

(01:41:08):
Griffin thing, not only not only does it frustrate him,
like he can't said Griffin should get the job and
what have you. But if you're going to can your
g M a couple of days before the draft and
you know, eleven days I guess it was before free
agency starts, you better have plan B. You better like

(01:41:28):
you can't be out there going Maybe I'll talk to
Chauncey and see if he wants to do it, you know,
and nothing against four against chun like that's not a plan.
Like you better have all the dominoes in a row
if you're gonna do this at that point, And he
didn't do it, and now they're a little bit lost
because of it. There's a real issue about leadership there
because of this, and yeah, that's that's gonna weigh on

(01:41:51):
Lebron too. I kind of got a feeling he's going
to go, but it could go. It's just I feel
like if I flipped over the magic eight ball, it
would just say ask again later, like it's too early.

Take care. He is Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas Knox. This

(01:42:13):
is Fox Sports Radio as we come to you here
in beautiful southern California. Dan. It is beautiful out here,
absolutely gorgeous, and we will not believe Dan that one
of the hottest stories going on in sports is very
close to us. It's very very close to us. But
we are going to bring it to the nation and
we are going to do that in just sixty seconds

(01:42:35):
from now here on Fox Sports Radio. Don't go anywhere,
no commercials first, So let's find O. It's trending. He's
Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. Johnny Ramas here on a
b K artist and it is the Doug Gottlieb Show,
brought to you today by True Car. You can find

(01:42:56):
Kurt Healing, who says, maybe not so fast on Lebron,
but I will say that I think that the signs
are all there, and everything we've seen over the last
couple of weeks points to do Lebron playing his last
season in Cleveland this year. Whether that's the case or not,
I guess we will see. Right now, we will hear
the press, the press, trust me, we are gonna hear it.

(01:43:19):
Right now. Is David Gascon Jones, Jonas, myself and John
Ramos to bring us up to date on some of
the top stories going on in the world of sports.
Hey Dave, Hey guys, we talked talked about an hour
ago about Amazon Prime, what they're doing right now. And
I don't know if you guys are pretty active on
online terms to bidding and buying things online with us

(01:43:40):
through Amazon or whatever else, But Babe, Ruth nineteen twenty
seven World Series ring is up for auction on Leland's
dot com auction Right now, the bidding has gone over
five hundred thousand dollars and climbing. There's also some bids
that are going on a contract that Ruth sent from
the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees all
the way back at nineteen nine. Team was the date? Wow?

(01:44:02):
I mean again we talked about earlier with trades, but
an item is only worth what something somebody is willing
to pay. Okay, I think you know, yes, ring is
is pretty cool, but at one point is it just
like oh, okay, as baby is, has Babe Ruth sobered up? Yet?

(01:44:22):
Irony enough the owner of items as well? Really? Yes,
what was the thing that was sent from? What was
what was the Red Sox Yankees thing? The contract that
you signed? Okay, actually I think that would be more
interesting than the But where do you place those? Well,
at least you can put the contract in a frame,

(01:44:45):
like here's what I understand, Like what are you gonna
do with that? You're just gonna look at it. Here's
my ring? Yeah, like hey check this out, like you
bring you bring a woman over and it's like, Hey,
look at this this thing up here. What is it? Oh,
it's the contract Babe Ruth signed. Cool, call me an uber,
Like why why am I year? Like if you get
an auction for anything, Like, wouldn't you auction for one
of the props they used on Boogie Nights or something?

(01:45:07):
That's something you could use? You know what I mean? Gentlemen?
Tonight at seven ten Pacific at Chavez Ravine, the hottest
team in all the Major League Baseball all right? The
Kuda craw to run home run for Fellinger, his second
of the day. He's twenty four of the year. It's

(01:45:31):
eleven to six. Dodgers swept the Rockies over the weekend.
They swept the Mets in a four games series. Prior
to that, they've won ten straight nineteen of twenty one
time order, If Dave Gascon wasn't a Dodger film, this
wouldn't be mentioned in This guy? Absolutely who nobody gives

(01:45:53):
a rip about the Dodgers trigger How does Johnny Ronalds
not chi Man? Has this been fun? A fun last
week and a half? John? It has because it massed
the bad bullpen and also because John has a calendar
that works and he realizes, yeah, we're five months away
from determining who the best team is. It doesn't say October,
it says June. All right, it's the one note on that.
Cody Bellinger continues to shine. Six multi home run performances

(01:46:15):
so far this season, twenty four long balls this year,
fifty five runs battered and betting to seventy four. He's
slugging nearly six eight. Modern day Todd hollands Worth is
what he'll be Diamondbacks playing really, really good baseball. But
now the Rockies hot start. This is what we thought
their downfall was gonna be wild pitches yesterday. Now it's

(01:46:39):
starting to see itself through as we get closer to
the midway point of that season. Chill when we go
from Major League Baseball into the NFL. The New Orleans Saints,
Nick Farley, he has been placed on the reserve non
football injury list. He has a heart condition. He's all
done for two thousand seventeen. Nick Fairley, does he still
getting royalty checks from Tommy Boy? Uh? That's not far

(01:47:02):
that's not far of you. That's the Saints. For as
bad as they were defensively, they're actually defensive line was
getting better and better. They invested a lot of money
years back in their secondary. The defensive line of the
second half of the year, I thought got better with
fairly is a part of that. Apparently that's not going
to continue. He can they still blame Rob Ryan though,

(01:47:24):
because I mean he's been he's been the scapegoat for
about four years now. Can we still blame him just
for that? Why not? Absolutely dreadful defense? One one, I
quickly I thought that the Saints were gonna have the
best safety tandem in the NFL. And Kenny macarla and
Jara's bird and even over the Seahawks, who I follow
these two? How'd that workout? By the way, one of
the one you mentioned that auction items one of the

(01:47:46):
great props in sports history. Whoever came up with the
original idea of let's bring brown paper bags to the
super Dome and call ourselves the Aints one of the
great one of the great moves? It hits. It's like
it's like the the Indian guy who was in the
crowd at the Calves game that said, I'm Indian and

(01:48:07):
even I hate Curry. He had a T shirt. Didn't
even I hate Curry? That in the ain't what a
fantastic idea gentleman, last story of the day will end,
John on a positive note. Local outlet down South Mexico
report that farmer macguil Pablo was sixty years of age.
He has died. The cause of his death was an

(01:48:28):
infection caused by the wounds he had suffered during an altercation.
Gentleman McGill was alleged to have return home drunk from
a party and somehow and begun fighting with a pig
he kept in his home. The animal managed to bite
off his crank and several three fingers on his right hand. Okay,
keep it off his uhts No, I don't think it is.

(01:48:54):
I don't think it is. He he bit his uh alright,
John Rolis of the thumbs off. We actually have audio.
This is an audio from the moment the bite occurred.
There in Mexico. There's no actually get out there and pressed.
That was the press. That's it. That's it. I was

(01:49:21):
the last story, Yes, all right? In a positive note, Yeah, yeah,
sure for the pig. What about that? Imagine getting that
death certificate cause of death? You know, pig got me
where the Okay? So so what was the cause of death?
Get an infection from the bites. Yeah he bit his

(01:49:42):
um Yeah, yeah, no, I Dave. Dave said it pretty clearly.
But all right, he's that's that's all he's underwears a
little more loose, my goodness. Uh, that's a tough one
to end on. Thanks Dave for the press trying to help.
It's tough for us the farmer. You kidding me? He

(01:50:04):
gave that pig of life. Dave starts out the story
with a guy dying, So then I'm like, all right, great,
how are we going to turn this? Then he uses
the term that I was not prepared for it. How
the pig was actually going to Ah, it's all good.
What happened to the pig? Update? Is there an update on?
Nothing yet on that. There's actually a highlighted picture of

(01:50:26):
the pig though in the article. Nice little selfie. That's
good himself. I'm sure not that he's got an extra appendage,
extra three fingers to work with. That's a three fingers too.
I got a little greedy. Where did he start? Did
he start at the hand and then go or did
he was it vice versa? I think he went to

(01:50:48):
mid section first? Wow, dessert before dinner? Yeah, nothing wrong
with that, especially early on the day. Pretty selfish anymore.
You want to add to this dance, I'm good. Uh,
that is Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas Knox in for Doug
Gottlievier on Fox Sports Radio. You can all of mease
listen on the I Heart Radio app, and you can

(01:51:09):
get David Gascon on Twitter at Jeffrey Dahmer. That is
where you can find Dave on Twitter. That is at
Jeffrey Dahmer to find more mutilation stories that he can
provide you up next though, a former NBA star, a
guy who is a very controversial, very physical player known
to get in a few scraps. He is called out

(01:51:32):
a current NBA player and it's unlike anything you've heard
in recent history. And we'll have that for you next
year on FSR. I'm Dan Buyer. That's Jonas Knocks Jenner
almost hanging out as well in a b k R
edition as we are in for Doug today. Um tweets
on Dave's last story. Yeah, we're getting comments from the pig.

(01:51:55):
We'll just let them be as they are. No Ah, boy,
but what a what a nasty situation. But but talk
about a rivalry between those two guys. There's now a
rivalry brewing in the NBA between the pig and the
guy he casts. Maybe one sided, maybe a one sided rivalry,
but there's a rivalry between a former NBA player and

(01:52:17):
a guy who still may have some years left him
and left in him in the n B A Jonas,
you were keen to this uh feud between Kenyan Martin
and joke him. Noah, Yeah, it's like all of a sudden,
this is like the new thing to where a guy
you know, where this. I think the stems from old players,
like guys that were in the league years ago. They're

(01:52:38):
looking around and these were quality players in the NBA
for quite some time, and they made a pretty good
living and they made a lot of money. But when
you're like an older player to say, you've just retired
with him the last five six years, and you see
Evan Turner get seventy million, like you're probably thinking to yourself,
if I would have just hung around, you know, just
like even played, you know, just spare minutes here there,

(01:53:01):
I could have picked up one of these contracts. I
think some of these guys there it bothers them when
they see some of the money that's being thrown out there. Um.
So Kenyan Martin was up. He started talking about current
players and he was doing an interview with Peter Rosenberg
on a Hot ninety seven and he talked about just

(01:53:24):
certain players in the league. I believe Joakim Noah was
one of the first that he brought up, and just
about how they get paid and the contracts that are
out there. And here's what he had to say. Listen,
playing for his contract. Playing for his contract right now,
I think off the couch, he's not doing that Stephen
Jackson act, I'll play you for your contract. Yeah, that
was Chandler Parson. He also ripped Joakim Noah. He said,

(01:53:46):
he said Jocom Noah quote. Um, he said, uh, the
man gave they're talking about. He said, gave Joco Noah
seventy million. Boy can't hit his ass with both hands.
That boy sucks. That's got to be in reference still,
how he shoots free throws and how he shoots jumpers.
I do think that Kenyan Martin would win in that
game because Joe Kim could do his rebounded block shots.

(01:54:09):
And then think, if you're playing what was the what
was the quote from Calvin SAMs. Do you hear this
about LaVar Ball years back? Somebody on Earth this comment
with Calvin Sampson was that coach at Washington State about
LaVar balls game saying that you could put LaVar Ball
in a gym by himself for two hours and he
couldn't score twenty points. Yeah, I think it's the same

(01:54:31):
thing with Joe Kim Noah. So of course, if Kenyan
Martin jumps out to a two oh lead, I think
his lead is gonna be pretty safe if he's playing
against Noah, because yeah, joke, Kim Noah can't score seventy
million dollars and know that's bitter, but the effect is
the Noah, the Noah form. You think in his ten
years in the NBA would at least gotten better. Now

(01:54:52):
we mentioned Kenyan Martin, dan uh, he is a part
of and you can actually see Kenyan Martin later tonight
eight Eastern time on FS one. So if don't want
to watch those crumby NBA awards, you can watch the
Big Three. Dann much more interested in the Big Three
than actually I actually am too, and that's not kissing.
As to a Fox Sports one channel to nineteen for
Direct TV, viewers. Um, but I think, uh, I think

(01:55:13):
it's gonna be exciting. Like I've I've seen some of it.
It was you know that than some reviews of it
and they said it's pretty good. Kenyan Martin is the
captain for the trilogy. Um, I think it's time to
where we've got to pick. Uh. I mean you gotta
pick a team, Danio, I know, and I I like
the Killer the Killer Threes. It's uh, it's been up.
My fantasy football team for twenty years has been the

(01:55:35):
Killer Bees off of my last name. But I like
the Killer Threes as a as kind of the team
just for that specific reason. So I'm I am all
Killer Threes. I'm gonna go with either the Ghost Ballers
because Ricky Davis is a co captain and he was
my favorite player for some time in the NBA, or
the Ballhogs because Brian Scalabrini is the captain and anyway

(01:55:57):
we can get the White Mamba into a conversation, I
might go with that. What's interesting is for those that
may not have seen Number one, great job by not
not a lot of leaks coming out from the games
that played yesterday that are gonna air tonight. I thought
that was pretty impressive. It's first one, first team to sixty,
they're gonna have a halftime at first one of thirty wins,
but first one to sixty win by two. I'm just

(01:56:19):
curious to see on how many points one player, you know, like,
is some guy gonna go off for forty eight or
fifty points of his team sixty and just take over
in the game. That's one of the things that I'm
interested in see how this all plays out. So we
also did something Dan, I know, I know you weren't.
You weren't here when this was when this made its appearance,
this debut um, we did something called the Wheel of

(01:56:41):
Hot Sports Takes, where we have a wheel in studio.
You can clearly see it as in studio here, Dan,
we hired a homeless man to bring it in, gave him,
gave him ten bucks and a carton of cigarettes. He
has brought in the wheel into the studio. We are
going to spin the wheel here. There are different categories
from around the sports world. Wherever hands on, John Ramos

(01:57:01):
has to give his hot take and then we say
how hot it was afterwards. So John Ramo step up
to the wheel and let her rip baby, all right, Okay,
here we go, John Golf, so Yawn r You races

(01:57:21):
to number one ranked in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
John Ramos, your hotake. Look, although I think I think
I pretty much said that though one minute. By the way,
so yan You, this is the first one of many wins.

(01:57:45):
This is a person that's gonna take the LPGA by storm.
It's unbelievable that we haven't talked about her more lately.
So yanre You is so good. So now, Johnny and Tennis.
Petrovitva withdrew from Eastbourne due to an abdominal injury. You
gotta play, Petra. Okay, Petrocrab, You've got to play with

(01:58:09):
thirty seconds left, get in there now. I'm not gonna
take note for an answer, John. The Carolina Hurricanes enter
the off season with twenty five point seven million dollars
in cap space. Look, get the best guy you can get.
Sidney Crosby. I'm throwing out your name right now. I
know you're with the Penguins, but we need you. We've
got a lot of money. Get here now. You're gonna

(01:58:31):
love Carolina. John Kitty Boo wants a rematch with the
neighbor's dog. Look, let's all praise Kitty Boo for the
time
