Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio Coming to you from
(00:23):
absolutely spectacular summer day in northeast Wisconsin. We have our
own golf tournament at Green Bay. It's that, of course,
called Wander Springs. Awesome. Twenty seven holes of just remarkable
golf today, not played by me, Pleina, you know, I
(00:43):
hit a couple of balls. It's pretty good. But anyway,
boys back in La. You guys having a good day.
We've got a ton to talk about. AJ Prazinski's gonna
join us. It's tough for me to have Aj on,
not because he's not a spectacular baseball guest. He is,
but because of the fake drop, the fake the drop
third strike against the Angels, which was a brilliant play
(01:07):
back when he was part of the White Sox winning
their first World Series in eighty eight years back with
the Socks. Got some thoughts on yesterday's beginning of the
Major League Baseball Draft stuff. I didn't know that I
learned that's different than any other draft. But I want
to start with the continuing stories revolving around Lebron James.
And you even heard it some in the update right
(01:29):
where Kobe Altman, Mike Gansey and who was like his
Brandon Weims got contract extensions with Cleveland and he Lebron
gives them a shout out on Twitter, leading some to
speculate he really wants Cleveland to come and get him,
(01:50):
which kind of gets us to the part of the story,
which is, I guess odd. So Summer league's going on,
Lakers are played, I believe it was Friday night, and
they start talking about Lebron in front of Lebron while
Lebron's at the game with his daughter watching their son,
Bronni play, and they ask him, you know, if he
(02:12):
wants to come on, I don't have blank to talk about, sure, Lebron,
because that's what Lebron does. He does the passive aggressive thing,
you know, if he wants to get somebody fired as
head coach, he doesn't say anything to talk about it.
He lets everybody else talk about it. When he's done
with a teammate and he wants them traded, he just
doesn't talk to them, just moves off of them. And
(02:37):
then ESPN went further in a story which has now
been widely reported that four teams checked in with Rich
Paul in regards to a trade to acquire Lebron James,
which is, I guess news to us. It's interesting, it's
worthy of discussion, but there's a pattern building there. Here's
(02:59):
the pattern. Go back to last week and we talked
about it that there's a Ramona Shelburne story that has
the Lakers not informing Lebron about the sale of the team.
(03:19):
Then you read the story and you start to go, hey,
Rich Paul is a pretty big source to this story.
Then you read previous stories from when the Lakers were sold,
and part of the story is reported by the same
network ESPN, is that Lebron and Luca were both informed
of the sale of the team. Okay, so progression of events. First,
(03:47):
Lebron opts in to his player option. Second part is
at the exact same time, Rich Paul releases kind of
damning statement which is Lebron wants to be part of
a championship. And again I'm not quoting verbatim here, but
(04:08):
basically like, Lakers aren't about Lebron. So this, you know,
there's a lot of past tense in it. This will
probably be the last year Lakers say they want to
they want to surround themselves with whatever Luca wants to
win a championship. Then the Ramona Shelbourne story comes out,
Then the story comes out Friday that four teams a
touch base about a trade. And then you look at
(04:30):
the Lakers, who haven't even announced that Lebron has signed
the player option. What does this all mean? I don't
know for a fact, but I'm pretty sure this is
all the creation of Rich Paul. This is Rich Paul's
way of creating some sort of either energy towards moving
(04:53):
off of or moving the Lakers to buy out Lebron,
or just a way to get people to be kind
of sympathetic and talk about Lebron. And here's the easiest
reference point. When Lebron was going to the Lakers from Cleveland,
everybody knew he was going to the Lakers from Cleveland.
Everybody his kids were I know because my kids went
(05:15):
to the same school his kids did at least one
day where they visited this school. Then they were up
in the Valley and Sierra Canyon. The stories came out
that they were checking out those schools, so real stories.
And part of it was that there was this smoke
screen created by Rich Paul where hey, he might go
(05:37):
to San Antonio. Like, if you're going to pick a
team for Lebron to go to San Antonio, is not it.
There's not a lot of media, media attention, And the
number one thing they tell you to do if you
want to join the San Antonio Spurs is get over yourself.
No one's ever thought Lebron is over himself and his
guys would not have to operate with the same power.
(05:58):
And if you really think about it, not only the
Lakers not talked about him signing an extension. The Lakers
haven't let anything out. We didn't know about the Luca trade,
to the Luca trade happened. We haven't known about any
of these things till they happen. They've done a really
good job of running a really quiet ship. And this
is something I do know that when Magic Johnson was there,
(06:19):
they were super, super frustrated that there was one writer
with the La Times. What was the gentleman's name, Jase Do.
I hate to put you on the spot, and I'm
going to because you were working in local radio. I
believe at the time there was a there was a
local writer who covered the Lakers. I think for the
La Times. It's an African American gentleman, and he had
(06:42):
all of the Lakers stories and they were all fresh
off of talking on the phone.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
With Hey, you're talking about you talking about Brad Turner.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Brad Turner.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Right, awesome, awesome reporter and awesome dude. By the way,
I've known it forever.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I've heard an awesome dude. And Magic liked him, and
Magic would call him and Magic would give him everything,
and the Lakers are like, dude, you can't do that.
We don't do that. Don't loose slip sinc ships. And
then Brad Turner would have the Hey, remember the first
time they were trying to try for trade for Anthony Davis.
He had all the details, everything, And then when they
(07:15):
didn't get him, They're like, yeah, he's still gonna go
after him in the off season. Here's what Magic is thinking.
How does he know? Because Magic would call him. So
when Polinka got control of the shop, Polinka was a
no leaks guy, none none, zero zip silchanada and we
don't get any leaks. So how would these stories get
out and why would they be reaching out to Rich
(07:37):
Paul and how would this Like it's obvious Rich Paul's
either trying to get Lebron bought out or it's just
a urinating contest where he's trying to say, hey, we're
still the biggest dog. Look at all these championship teams
that still want Lebron. Either way, I I don't know.
(08:01):
I guess my question is what is the endgame? What's
the endgame? Because the Lakers they're not going to buy
out Lebron James right, and no one's trading for a
fifty three million dollar contract for a forty year old
player who's been hurt a great portion of what was
he five in the last seven years. We already know
(08:26):
he takes his break in March. So this is not
me like destroying Lebrun. This is me going like, is
this really what we're doing? You're an agent for the
most successful player currently in the NBA. Like, we don't
get any of this stuff on Steph Curry. Steph currys
(08:48):
won four championship. Steph Curry's an all time great. Steph Curry
basically pushed them over the threshold, won the game in
the Olympics last year, in the gold medal game. I mean,
that's that's Stephan Curry. We don't get in any unhappiness
with or what he wants to happen or coaching staff
or player moves or any of that stuff. Why because
the Warriors aren't sharing anto those details. Same thing with
(09:09):
the Lakers. We only get it with Lebron. And again,
none of this happens without Lebron saying it's okay. And
Lebron's even participated it, playing golf ian Akron, wearing a
welcome home shirt, doing the shout out to weems with
the Cleveland Cavaliers organization. All of those things are all
(09:32):
part of Team Lebron's plant. Like it's got to be
a hey, we want to go back to Cleveland and
finish where we started and oh yeah, by the way,
they have a really good team, and oh yeah, by
the way, the East is down this year. All of
that makes sense except the Lakers, like, well, why would
we do that? Why would we do that, and and
(09:54):
different organizations do things differently when they get perturbed. Could
you just trade him and say hey, or could you
buy him out you got a new owner that paid
ten billion dollars, you could, but that would be really
bad for business. That would be really really dumb. And
oh yeah, by the way, if you want to extract
a little revenge for like we drafted Bronnie, we game
(10:16):
afore year guaranteed contract, we played Bronnie, We've done everything
you wanted. We hired JJ Reddick. Yeah, I gotta be
honest with you. Part of me thinks the Lakers they're
not gonna say or do anything for a reason, nor
do they have to. They could just ride out the
(10:37):
Lebron thing. Then you can sign with somebody else for
a victory tour the next year. Hard to see the
end game, being like, do they think they're gonna get
bought out? Just doesn't make sense if you really wanted to,
because if you wanted to go somewhere else, just don't
sign the player option, become a free agent and see
what's up. Not that hard. The report is multiple teams
(11:03):
have inquired about Lebron James, and my report back to
you is without any source close to it. This is
all created by Lebron, James and Rich Paul and their camp.
And whether they're pissed, trying to get bought out, maybe
trying to get traded, I don't know, but it's it's
it's it's sort of laughable in that if you want,
(11:25):
if you really wanted to play somewhere else, you could
have picked your own destiny. All you had to do
is not opt into your contract.

Fox Sports Radio. So there's controversies around Jacob Mazowski. We
talked about ms last week. Obviously, you know he bounced
(12:04):
back from the one we really had one bad inning
against the Mets. I think it was two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, right, and by the way currently baseball,
if you haven't been made, attention is on on their
All Star break. Mis Rowski is a rookie, so if
you're wondering what the controversy is over, you're like, wait,
why do they You know he's pitched. He's literally pitched
(12:31):
twenty five innings of Major League baseball. He's had five
starts and he's four and one and he's only allowed
I think, what is it? He's allowed eight earned runs
in those five starts, but you know, five, six, eight,
(12:54):
twelve strikeouts or whatever. So you know, he's got thirty
three strikeouts in twenty five innings, which is outstanding. You know,
usually it's as the starting pitcher one to one, right
strikeout to inning ratio, so two and a half to
one or two and a quarter to one. You know, well,
one in a quarter to one is really really good.
(13:18):
But it's a lot, it's early, and it seems a
bit forced. And it's not like the Brewers needed just
one guy to be an All Star, right, they got
plenty of really good players. They're in second place. They
played great ball so far this year, great, not good great.
(13:43):
I don't know it. Look does it feel forced? Yeah? Yeah,
it does it. Does He's gonna replace Matthew Boyd, who's
a Cub starter and Boyd pitched Saturday, So some of
it is where you come up in the Rota. Sanchez
(14:04):
was a Christopher Sanchez Sanchez from the Philadelphia Phillies probably
should have replaced him. Plus, remember Sanchez has incentives and
bonuses in their contract tied to All Star appearances, which,
according to reports, the Phillies will honor because they're like,
this is the league, this is the Brewers, this is
(14:25):
baseball trying to push their youth. I'm in the Yeah. Look,
I think there's three different parts of what makes an
All Star. Three with three different First, there's the kind
of grandfathered in as long as you're just not brutal,
(14:47):
but you're a five, six, seven time over All Star,
we're good. Yeah, you're going to be an All Star
every year. Right, if you're a Hall of Fame caliber player,
it doesn't mean you had to be a future Hall
of Famer. If you're like in that discussion, you know,
as long as you're good in the first half of
the year, then there's the incredible first half of the season. Guys,
(15:09):
those guys should be All Stars and then there's the
last three hundred and sixty five days. So in the
sometimes we don't count playoffs, we don't count how people finish,
how you finished last year, if you blew up in
the playoffs and then you had a good year this year,
regardless of if you're not a perennial All Star, then
you can I think you can make an All Star team.
(15:32):
So those are the three. Would he qualify an under
any of those three in comparison to Sanchez who's got
a two point five OERA and has one hundred and
twenty two strikeouts already, and that's over one hundred and
fifteen innings. Again about a one to one, slightly above
one to one. The point about Sanchez is, yeah, you
(15:57):
have all that other stuff in terms of he's he's
got bonuses, he's got other things tied to it. The
part that's that's weird is you know last year he
only pitched a game because of injuries. You know, he's
(16:20):
not a guy. Sorry, that was the postseason. I'm sorry.
Regular season last year, Okay, regular season last year, he
pitched thirty one games. He had a three point three
to two e ra A. He pitched one hundred and
eighty one innings and in those one hundred and eighty
one innings, Uh, he recorded one hundred and fifty three strikeouts.
(16:41):
So he's been a really good, you know, low three
Zra really good, not an All Star pitcher having an
outstanding first half of the year. Was was it you
Jay stew who talked about it on the podcast? I
think Jase Stu mentioned that, which is it's almost like
you should have a Christian Letner sort of spot on
(17:04):
the All Star team where just one young up and
coming guy. Does Missowski feel forced? Yeah, he's also a
placement guy. It is to get attention, and he has
at times, again it's only five starts, but at times
he's just been filthy. Let's ask Aj Priznski Joints. He's
(17:26):
in Atlanta for the All Star Game. Uh, major League
Baseball Draft taking place down Atlanta. A lot of things
taking place in Atlanta. AJ, what's your reaction to Miserowski
being named the All Star Team?
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Oh? Uh, surprised, I guess it would be my first reaction.
Not shocked, but surprised. Little precedence at last yea Skins
only having one eleven starts when he made it and
started Mizarowski having only five is a surprise, but hey,
we want attention on our game. It's an exhibition game.
(17:58):
Doesn't mean anything other than guys are mad because they
don't get their bonuses. They might have missed out. But listen,
there's like ninety All stars. Now it used to be
extraordinarily hard. Sorry amount of breath. I was running up
the stairs. But uh yeah, it's it's it's unsurprised that
(18:20):
some guys are a little bit mad. But it's an exhibition.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yeah, it's Stutg Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay,
but now that you're covering it, now that you're in broadcasting,
it's just so much different than when we were kids, dude.
I mean even before, like you were winning a World
Series like when we were kids. Also, game was awesome,
but part of it was the leagues didn't play each other.
Every game wasn't on TV. The America in the National
(18:45):
League were so different. You know, you had like these
historic players. It was your one chance to see them
all on the field at once. Now you've got interleague play,
you got more playoff games. You can watch every game
right there on on your phone. What are your feelings
like about watching the All Star Game now as opposed
to go back to when you're a kid.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Well, having played in All Star Games, I know how
special they are. Having grown up in the same area
as you. Watching them was unbelievable. It was like the
biggest thing in the world, right, like, oh, my gosh,
so and so it's facing Pedro's facing the the you know,
the team, the National League team with all the Hall
of Famers least punched them all out that year in Boston. Right, Oh,
you must watch CB. I have to watch this. I
(19:27):
have to see this. And even before that, it was like,
all right, we've got to find it. We got to
find a way to tune into the All Star Game
because again, there's no matchups. The eighties and nineties the
early nineties were oh man, this guy never gets to
play against this guy. Let's watch this. It's so cool.
And now with in early play its water down a
little bit, but it's still cool to look up and
see scoop over schemes as the marquis to start the game. Right,
(19:49):
It's still cool to to see the guy coming in
throwing a hundred, trying to get through whatever part of
the lineup they're in. So as much as I want
to say, man, it really stinks, I can't say that.
It's more of like, it's still a really cool thing.
It's a really cool event and it's by part of
the best All Star game in any sport.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
All right, All Star Game in O two is in Milwaukee, right.
Home run Derby that year, by the way, was insane.
We were actually just talking about it. How did you
find out you were an All Star?
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Got called into the ASAR or they had a thing
with I was on the Twins and they they just said, hey,
we every team does this. They had like a little
meeting of the team and n Gardenhammers our manager, and
he said, hey, there's our all Stars and it was me,
it was Tory Hunter and it was Eddie Guardado and
(20:40):
it was just awesome. It was personal. People asked me
about I was fortunately have to be a part of
the two All Star teams, and the two I was
at were through the greats. Two thousand and two was
the Tay Game, which changed the All Star Game and
made it to remember it mattered and we're going to
play American League is nationally the home field advantage and
(21:01):
in two thousand and six. I had like nine of
my teammates there with our whole coaching staff. So two
great All Star games that you part of. I didn't
have to play in that one, which was even better
because I just sat there and had had some game
raids during the game. Didn't have to play. I got
to watch the American League win. So the Alstar Game
is still as full as it gets for a baseball player.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio, former Major
League Baseball All Star and World Series champion and Fox
Sports Major League Baseball unless A. J. Perzinski kind of
to spend some time with us year on the show.
You are the perfect guy to ask this question too.
You look down and you're like, man, cal Raley thirty
eight home runs at the break. Wow, But he's a catcher,
(21:45):
and you, guys, wear down he's and he's he's doing
in Seattle, which is a hard park. I think it's
the worst home run hitting park in the league. What's
so likely that he gets to sixty at thirty eight
right now?
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Oh don't sure. I hope it happens so catchers can
get their love for once. But oh man, so it's
it's amazing how many catchers fall off, and how quick
they fall off in the second half. He's doing the
home run derby to night, which I think is awesome.
Hopefully he doesn't that doesn't You know. People use as
excuse or they're tired or whatever. But Cal's big enough
(22:24):
and strong enough. He's called enough games in his career
to where he keep doing it. You know, I think
he can stay in a historic home run pace. I
don't know, but man, I hope he does it. I
hope he hits sixty. I hope he hits seventy. Yeah,
let's see it. Why not. It's great for the games,
great for the fans, especially in a place like Seattle.
So do I think he doesn't know? But do I
want him to do it? Hell? Yeah, I want him
to do it.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
What's wrong with the Dodgers?
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Nothing? What do you mean they go, they go to
sleep for a while, and then they come back. They're
like co they only have a five game lead, Okay,
we'll extend it to ten, and then you look up
their ten games up and then they go to sleep
for a while and then they come back. I mean
have injuries, obviously, but I need Mookie Batts to get going. Man,
I love Mookie, but he's got to keep going. He's
under seven hundred ohps. They need him to go.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
It's weird though, right like the teams that dominated them
here before the break were the good ones. You know.
That doesn't give you any pause that they're not hitting
when they're playing the Astros, when they're playing the Brewers.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Well, the Astros beat them or remember then they went
and got they swept the Dodgers and the Astros when
got swept by somebody, I don't remember who it was.
It was a team that wasn't very good though, So
it's baseball. No, it doesn't get me paused because they're
the Dodgers. They have the best team, they have the
best roster one through twenty six. They're going to get
all their guys healthy for when as time, which is
in October, which is all they care about. All they
(23:43):
want to do is win another ring. They don't care
about the regular season. They know they're going to be
in the postseason. And as hollow as that sounds, and
just like, oh, well, you're saying they don't care, I
mean they care, but they know they're going to be
in the postseason. And that's what they're all aiming.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
For Stut Gottlieb Show Here on Fox Sports Radio AJ
presents Keith flm arass Our Catcher won a World Series
with the White Sox. You know five as an Angel fan,
we don't hold it again. So maybe a little bit
on the drop third strike deal. But he makes it
up to us by joining us as a commentator at
Fox Sports. You'll see him on the cover of on
the on the coverage of the l Star Game and
(24:17):
of the World Series. Okay, so if you're still, hey,
they got the best roster, Their pitching is gonna get healthy,
Blake Stell's gonna get healthy. They're still If you had
to bet a substantial amount of money on one National
League team to be the biggest challenger come playoff time,
because there's several options, who would you.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Bet, Uh, well, the Padres that they get in because
they're not afraid of them, but they're so beat up
and their offense just isn't the same. I would always
say the Padres. Honestly, I got to see what happens
in the trade deadline, because I would say the Phillies
and they're starting pitching, but they got to get someone
to close out games. I know Romano has been better,
but they got to get someone to close out games.
(24:59):
The Mets. To me, they need to get Manaiah back.
They need to you know. I got to see it, Doug.
I wish I could say it right now nobody, but
it after the trade deadline. Philly's and the Cubs and
the Mets, I think are all are all threats to
the Dodgers because of what they will do and who
they're going to try to acquire to make a run.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
I was Matt Holiday is a really good friend of mine.
I was at his house yesterday when his sun Ethan
was drafted by the Rockies. Really cool. Matt was drafted
in ninety eight by the Rockies. Right. But what's interesting
is I didn't know about the slotting system with the
draft picks, where it's you basically got a pool of
money for all your draft picks, and so who's drafted,
(25:41):
who you take sometimes is based upon not necessarily just
who you want, but who you can keep and who
you can get to sign. What's your thoughts on this
system of how we now have the Major League Baseball draft?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
I wish you would just go back to whoever you
can afford. You could pay whatever you wanted to them,
but that's going to happen. I don't love the system
now because I listen, I have a son who's a
graduated high school is going to go to college. But
you know, they were talking about him getting drafted, and
it's all about trying to get people that will sign
(26:17):
for whatever, and in the round doesn't really matter, like
if they were just in the tenth round, and if
you're a tenth rounder, you're better off be an eleventh
rounder because in eleventh they could pay you more than
they can in the tenth because the money, the way
the rules are, it changes. So it's like, what are
we doing, Like the highest pick, the best players should
go in the order and they should have to, you know,
get the money they can get and move on. But
(26:39):
I mean I've heard and I don't know this that
the reason even didn't go on is because you know,
the Nationals are trying to save money to get to
other players later on in the draft, which they did
by drafting certain guys later on. They had money saved
up because Eli Willis and God bless Eli Willis or
being the one to one something could never take away
from him. But he might have taken a little less
money to help the nationals, and therefore they were we'll
(27:00):
take him, but just track the best players and try
to sign him out. I don't know why we're trying
to get all fancy, but that's above my paygrade. Dog,
I'm just happy that you know I don't have to
go through it.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
No, but you mentioned your son. I mean, I know,
he's just he's a stud catcher. When when you watch
and both you know will it's dad played. Obviously, Ethan's
dad was was an All Star as well. What's what's
that like to watch what very likely could be your.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Future the worse, it's the worst of my kid plays.
I'm more nervous by far than when I play. It's
so hard. It's so hard to watch them because there's
things they do and you just you just want to
you just want to say no, don't do that, but
you can't because it's their life and they have to
learn or no, you need to be better. But again,
they're not you, so it's just a different situation. But man,
it's so nerve wracking when your player, your kid is
(27:45):
playing and you have no control and you're just like no, no, no, no, no,
like yes, oh, yes, yes, and then they do something cool.
It makes you really happy.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
So talk about your podcast, because you're doing it's called
out foul Territory, Uh, all baseball, other stuff. What's the
focus your of your of your Because foul territory is
outside the lines, what do you cover?
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Well, that's because I was a catcher and I lived
my life in foul territory. So that's kind of why
I mean, Aircrafts are both catchers, So we both played
in foul territory. We're the only position that was in
foul territory. We cover baseball mainly. We cover baseball every day.
We cover it from a player's perspective. We cover with
no strings attached. We can say whatever we want. We're
on multiple We're on all the FanDuel networks. Uh, you
(28:33):
know with a marquee, we're on all the all the
networks that a lot of the networks that run the
baseball team. So we're on I don't know how many
TV channels were on. We're on YouTube. We have almost
three hundred thousand subscribers on YouTube. And we just talked ball.
We talked ball, We interact with fans. Uh. We just
have a good time. Man, that's it. It's just fun,
fun talking baseball two hours a day. We have great guests.
I mean we've had I don't know if there's been
(28:54):
another show that's had more player guests on it, gms
and managers and reporters and writers and want associated with baseball. Heck,
we've had people on that don't even play baseball, but
they just like baseball. We were like, oh, you know, oh,
we know you you like baseball. You have a team.
Let's talk baseball and they'll come on and talk baseball.
It's great.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Well, man, it's been great catching up with you. Enjoy
the All Star Game. Look forward to hearing more of
th the pods. Let's do this again soon. Thanks for
being our guests.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Hey, by the way, thanks to Who's winning the Derby night?
I gotta get your.
Speaker 1 (29:21):

cal Riley cause it's I love Big Dumper. Anytime you

me with a quality nickname, and I'm I'm locked and
I'm a fan.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Damn I like it. I like it, Big Dumper. I'm
picking Junior Camanaro because he said he wanted to do
it on Soul Territory and then they we got him in,
so I gotta go Junior, But I love Big Dumper.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Awesome, awesome, We'll watch tonight. Thanks Aj Persinski joining US
World Series Champion, two time All Star and of course
uh a analyst now for Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show days at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. That was great. I
love A. J. Prazinski. Back when he was with the
Red Sox, we used to have him on a bunch
on our show. When he's with the White Sox as well.
There there's a guy who when you talked to him
back then, you're like, he'd be really good on TV
and radio. Not not a stunner at all. That he's
doing it and doing it really, really well every day.
(30:25):
At this time, we turned over this case to Isaac
Loncron and play a game.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
I love it yet, but we actually have some timely
information to lead off this edition.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Of Big Deal, Little Deal, No Deal.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Doug san Antonio Spurs Star Victor Wembin Yama just told
the French newspaper Let It Keep that he has been
cleared to return to action after being shut down on
last February due to a blood clot in his right shoulder.
They're seemingly earlier than expected reactivation and clean bill of
(31:10):
health for Victor one body. I'm a big deal, little
deal or no deal.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
That's huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge deal. His health
is paramount for them to have success. And I mean
you hear blood clots and basketball and you're like, I
could end your career, ended Chris Boss's career. But and
knowing that he's clear, now that's great because you don't
(31:35):
want to happen right before the season. Then okay, then
you start weaning a guy off blood thinners, it's hard
to go. This is a really good thing.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
And just for further context, that report was broken by
let a Key reporter maxim A been as opposed to
Audreon war janow Olea shums right right, what's the lay keepers, Yes,
it's it. It's it's the big time French daily sports newspaper.
(32:08):
It's kind of the French equivalent of what The National
tried to be many months ago.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
But do you know what what lay keep means.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
It means the team, right, yeah, okay, the team.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
It sounds it does sound like a radio. Yeah, like
like here you what if I put to you.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
The team keep? Yeah, and that's been like a big
time daily sports newspaper that's survived. Yeah, they keep well
done well. Staying on that side.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Question, this is very off topic. I apologize.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
You don't have to apologize. It's your show. You don't
have to apologize for anything. Did you just call me dog?
Speaker 4 (32:51):
All right?
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Well that's that was my ode to Mike and Mad Dog.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Oh okay dog, oh god hoping.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
My street credit was always like we I don't know
who I was talking to him. Maybe it was with Chason.
We're talking about to bucket list, like sporting events to
go see, Yeah, and part of me does want to
go see like the Tour de France. But I kind
of think watching the Tour de France is a lot
like watching like a golf tournament. Like you only worst
(33:19):
you can't like chase them down and follow them. Yeah,
you have to like wait at one spot and then
shoop shoop shoo, shoop shoo shoohoohoo shoot, and they're like Okay,
that's done. Now we gotta get another spot, right Is
that how it works?
Speaker 2 (33:29):
What you want is to like be on top of
a hill so you kind of get a three sixty
view that's not just them coming by, so you can
see all the riders for a long long time and
make it a total.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
France experience on one of those mopeds that races by
them and it's like in front of them, I suppose mopeds.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
I'd just rather be on top of a hill with
my white wine crape suzette and a bag aad. That
would be the quintessential French experience.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
I'm just saying you need it. You definitely need a cigarette.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Wee okay, and and a beret and things like that. Well, well,
staying with that sort of international mindset, you know, alluding
to Jason, I have to admit that this was very
clever wording on his part. So I will have to
give him his props. Because our next item, big deal,
little deal or no deal that Yanick Sinner escaped from
(34:25):
a karaz to win Wimbledon after dropping the first set.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Huge huge dues. Right that, Uh, the escape from al
Karez is a real thing. That's a team that was
that's a he's a player who people think he's the
next great one, right, and I think this, you know,
the the rivalry between the two is a budding rivalry.
But soon we'll blossom, blossom into something beautiful.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
On of it, onto the NFL. Jalen Hurts apparently voted
as the ninth best quarterback in ESPN's rankings by head coaches, scouts,
and executives. Big deal, little deal or no deal. He
got the Caitlin Clark slot.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Apparently, little deal. Like, I don't think he's great either,
but he's great for how they play, and they win
a lot with how they play. And yeah, I mean
it's they They don't need Pat Mahomes to be clearly
to be successful. So yeah, I think it's a little deal.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
And finally, there appears to be a new romantic sports
related power coupling. Apparently Clay Thompson and Meghan the Stallion
have joined forces. Clay Thompson and Meghan the Stallion new
(35:51):
sports power couple. Big deal, little deal or no deal.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Um, that's a big deal. It's a big The backside
of that deal is big, big deal, big deal. But
the funny thing is how Clay Thompson got outed as
Meghan the Stallion's boo right where she posted a photo
on the gram and he's like chilling in a chair
(36:20):
by the pool and people are like, is that Clay
Thompson behind you? And then I guess the next day
they posted a picture together like yeah, everybody saw anyway.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
I'm sure after it was posted she said, oops, I
forgot to crop him out.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
And on that.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Note, we conclude an other memorable edition of Big Deal,
Little Deal, or No Deal game.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
This is game time on The Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
That's Doug Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. What'd
