Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Sports Boom, What up America, Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio, coming to you from the City of Angels.
Wait wait, wait, wait, Nate Peterman just through another interception
and you get an interception, and you get an interception,
and you get an interception. Mr Peterman, I mean that

(00:23):
was the worst debut than the Urban Sombrero. We know
how the Urban Sombrero went over. Uh, we got a
lot to get to all time backfire with the Buffalo Bills.
Got to talk about that. Uh. Baker Mayfield going crotch
crotch grab against the lowly Jayhawks the punishment. Does that
mean he shouldn't win the Heisman Trophy? Uh? College football

(00:45):
is on track for an incredible finish. But that all
that could all that could fizzle, all that could actually
explode before we actually get to that finish line. So
a Lonzo ball goes from you should send him to
the Gleig two. He just dropped his second triple double
of his young career. Might get to that. But let's

(01:06):
start with the Dallas Cowboys who lost again, and turn
around and play against those same Chargers we discussed with
the five interceptions putting up half a half charges at
thirty seven, the first half, most points they've ever scored
in a half in their existence, thanks in no small
part to the to the giving attitude of the rookie

(01:28):
quarterback out of Pittsburgh who lasted all of one half.
Like lasting one half and throwing five interceptions is like
the guy who comes in, gives up the home run,
gives up the Grand Slam, gives up another couple of runs,
leaves ducks on the pond, comes out, doesn't even get
a run, like what's his? The r A infinity. The
Dallas Cowboys lost last night to the Philadelphia Eagles, and

(01:52):
I think that, Look, am I patting myself a little
bit on the back because this is what I predicted. Sure,
everybody wants. Everybody in this business, you have to admit
when you're wrong. I've been wrong about plenty of thoughts,
plenty of opinions before um. But you also have to
champion at times when you're right, Especially when you're right

(02:14):
because because of logic, like my thought on on Dak
Prescott and why I thought he would struggle this year.
First of all, last year they had a soft schedule.
This year they did not, at least on paper. Additionally,
last year he had no expectations. This year heightened expectations,

(02:35):
and you had to factor in Ezeki Elliott, you assumed
would be at least affected by the pending suspension and
at most would be suspended for six games. You would
think that Jason Witten would age, he has, Dez Briant
has started to fade. I thought des Bryant would start
to fade. He has. And though their offensive line, when

(02:59):
healthy is still very good, last year it was near perfection.
They've had two changes on that offensive line even before
the injury to Tyron Smith, so easy schedule, everybody having
a book on him, raised expectations, some changes in the

(03:19):
offensive line, and all of a sudden, I thought, what
I told you before the season began was, hey, this
is nothing. This is no different than when you raise kids,
having a two year old as supposed to a three
year old. When you have a two year old, it's
like a rookie quarterback. You have expectations of the terrible
two's that they'll lay down on the ground and start

(03:40):
kicking and screaming and won't even want to do anything,
and when somebody comes by, like either two. But when
they're three, they're in they're big girl or big boy bed,
they're wearing underwear and night diapers. You have great expectations,
but the truth is they're still just three years old,
They're still just knee high. And the fact is that
though Dak Prescott was really impressive last year, no expectations,

(04:01):
and this year we think of him as a vet
and he had only played in fifteen games, so some
of it was to be expected, but some of it
also comes from this idea. Black Friday is, of course Friday,
and I love that we had now have pre Black
Friday sales. Is that really necessary? I've never been a

(04:23):
Black Friday guy. I know that people who do the
big box stores, the targets, the best buys, the walmarts.
I'm sure they have incredible deals. And if you're into
that sort of thing, staying up late at night, it's
probably cool. But to the rest of us, we look
at you as completely insane, right, Like you stayed up
for a TV and you already have five Okay, cool,

(04:49):
but everybody wants The reason Black Friday is a thing
is because people want a deal, and I'm no different there.
I tell people all the time, it doesn't if I
go into Northstrooms or Banana Republic or Jay Crew, or
I go to UH, I go to Jack's Surf Shop.
When I go online, what's the first button you click

(05:11):
on me? It's clearance. It is because my way of
looking at it is like, I'm not that that hip
as to what's really in style. So if I get
something that's slightly out of style but it was massively overpriced,
I'm okay with that. But you do know there's a
reason that it was off. You do know there's a

(05:34):
reason that it was sef And last night on the
field at Cowboys Stadium, you could see why one was
full price and why one was on discount. Right. I mean,
the Eagles are missing their middle linebacker. Eagles has had
injuries in their offensive line. Eagles are not perfect. But

(05:54):
Carson Wentz is a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger,
a little bit faster. There was a little bit better ball,
reads defense, a little bit better. He's just better than
Dak Prescott. And while Dak Prescott may have exceeded expectations,
the fact is that, like, look, if you go and
buy um for women this year, I don't know about dudes,

(06:17):
but have you noticed these women's sweaters. Do you know what?
Do you know what the style is? I would say
music is a better sense for what the style is
than Ramos does music. If you noticed this that women's
sweaters this year they have no shoulders, I have not
noticed that. Yeah, they have no They somehow they've done
this thing to where they're like here and they're like
long sleeves, only there's nothing at the shoulders. That's the

(06:40):
style to show off the shoulders. I'm not talking about
like it's a tank top. You still have sleeves. There's
still a connector there, but that's the style. But if
you go like now and you for Christmas or on
Black Friday, you go and you get that the shoulder,
the exposed shoulder cut due by next spring, there's gonna
be a different style. Whereas if you get whatever the

(07:03):
latest and greatest and hottest is going into Christmas, I
don't know what it is. Whatever, right it was it
was v Nex one year, it was Crew next the next.
Remember mock turtles. I'm sure you can pick up a
good mock turtle cheap, but it's still a mock turtle.
Dak Prescott was a fourth round pick that he was

(07:25):
a fourth round pick because he's not crazy accurate when
he goes through his progression. He doesn't do the greatest
job reading wide receivers. He has a good arm, but
not at top five in the NFL arm. He's a
very good athlete, but he's not Mike Vick right like,
he's good. He's a he's a starting quarterback. You can

(07:46):
win with him. But the fact is that they saved
on a quarterback and built their offense highly leveraged their
offense based upon a running back and offensive line, a
middle linebacker. And this actually fits fits who Jerry Jones is.

(08:06):
Jerry Jones is an old oil guy, right, oil and
gas guy. And I don't know if you guys know this,
but in the oil and gas business, but those guys
are highly highly leveraged. You know that means. Um What
it means is when like say you're in oil and

(08:27):
gas stocks, right, and the price of oil drops five bucks.
Now normally, normally if you're in the stocks and bonds
five bucks and you own hundreds of thousands of shares,
that really hurts you. When you're highly leveraged, five five

(08:48):
dollars in a drop, it's like losing fifteen bucks or
twenty bucks, because you have so much invested in it,
and that's just the based you. You're betting on that
to win, and it loses, and the suffering becomes even worse,
so do the gains. So when the market moves up
a little bit, their gains are even more substantial. When

(09:12):
the market moves down a little bit, their losses are
more substantial. That's what the Cowboys have. They were built
around that line. And when you lose the starting left tackle, arguably,
I mean like Tyron Smith, if you ask NFL people
like he's a Hall of Famer, that's how good he is.
He is that much better than everybody at that position

(09:33):
in the NFL. Their offense is built around the ability
to leave him by himself and not double team anybody.
Their offenses built around the ability to hand the ball
to Zeke Elliott or to have Zeke Elliott pick up
the blitz because he's as good in blitz protection as
anyone who's ever come out of college. And did you
see this stat Since two thousand fourteen, the Cowboys are
thirty three and nine with either a Zeke Elliott or

(09:55):
Tony Romo, and the starting lineup without without either their
one in fifty. So I know that everyone's talking about
how disappointed the Cowboys are. Do we realize that we
summarily retired Tony Romo too early because he's better than
Dak Prescott now? Ten years in, maybe Dak Prescott is

(10:17):
better than Tony Romo, but Romo could have been on
this team. And Romo is a better quarterback as of
now than Dak Prescott. How do I know? That's what
the offensive line was like for most of Romo's career,
That's what the defense was like for most of Romo's career,
and he's just better. So, yeah, there's more pressure because

(10:41):
you choose to let Romo retire and go into the
booth and he's never returning, and yeah this is a
harder schedule, and yeah they're without their left tackle. But
it shows that that that offense was not built around Zeke,
nor can he carry it when he has who the
offense was built around, not on the field. The says
nothing more than go into the sale rack, saving a

(11:03):
bunch of money. We'll get in a sweater and be like, yeah,
this sweater is awesome. It is, but now it's summer.
You got a sweater and by the time you wear
it next, next fall, next winner, It's gonna be out
of style. There's a reason that it was on sale.
Anthony Herron joins us from the PAC twelve network. Up
coming next um U c l A took on USC

(11:24):
It was Donald versus Rosen. I'll tell you what my
eyes saw. I'll tell you what scouts have told me.
I'll ask uh Anthony Herron what he thinks. Will also
talk about the U c l A coaching job which
opened yesterday. Also having to me Jim Moore's birthday? Who
got both the worst and greatest present? All in the
same phone call? Okay? That football discussion brought to you

(11:46):
by True Car. You can find out what other people
in the area pay for the same car you're looking for,
new or used. Visit True Card and enjoying more confident
car buying experience. Donald Rosen, you can only pick one.
I'll tell you who you should pick next the Doug
Gotlip Show. With True Car, you can find out what
other people in your area paid for the same car
you're looking for and on average save over three thousand

(12:07):
m s r P. Whether you're looking for a new
or used car, visit True Car and enjoying more confident
car buying experience. Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. Interesting
day in uh National Football League. I do think like
one of the one of the great um visuals for
for football fans, Like I know, Matt Prater, he made

(12:27):
a big he made a field goal that that put
the Lions up three. Lions ultimately survived because who was
it for the Bears? Uh? Connor Barth? Right, Connor Barth
completely chunked one. I mean he missed it by as
wide as the field goal was long, and mean it
was oh my god, college college kickers were laughing at that.

(12:53):
By the way, Connor Barth got cut today. I actually
I love that and yet like I love that, that's
like a you had one job, you had one? It was.
There's the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the a j C. Did
you see their tweet yesterday morning? Yesterday morning they had
a tweet about Venus Williams having her house broken into,

(13:16):
and it was a picture of Serena Williams. Right, Like
I know, it probably didn't happen at the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Not rooting for people to lose their job, but they should.
Whoever whoever picked out that photo should lose their job,
just like Connor Bart doing that, like you should lose
your job, or what happened with Nathan Peterman, like you

(13:37):
should be he should have been pulled at the half
like he was bad. You can't just keep throwing him
out there. Like what if he had seven or eight
interceptions and I I will grant you probably three of
them were not his fault. He was under constant rash,
which may have been his fault because he didn't address
the protection scheme and he threw the football instead of

(13:57):
just eating the football. Whatever the as our lessons learned
um anyway, but prayter people forget that who has been
good in Detroit. I don't think we ever give a
healthy amount of respect for how much better it is
to kick indoors and how much better it is to
kick in altitude. And the greatest snapshot of that was

(14:20):
Stephen Gostkowski yesterday. Did you see the sixty two yarder
that he kicked in Azteca Stadium? It was it would
have been good from eighty two yards. Altitude does in
fact help you? Does in fact? All right, we'll get
back to that. I got my thoughts on Baker Mayfield's

(14:41):
UM not He's not gonna start the game against West Virginia.
Speaking of West Virginia, Will Greer, their quarterback. He broke
his finger, dislocated finger. It was gruesome. It was so
gruesome that I watched it at least fifteen times. It
was disgusting, just but I loved it. Um, I just
want to point that out. Let's welcome to Anthony Heren
course played in Iowa in the Big Ten, covers the

(15:03):
Pack twelve of the Pack twelve network, and um, I
want to ask him about the u c l A job.
Get to that in a second, but maybe more importantly,
his assessment Donald versus Rosen. We saw them Anthony on
the field at the coliseum, not as far as a
college quarterback, pro quarterback. What was your what was your
analysis of the two qbs? First off, I just want

(15:25):
to point out and uh, you're a dad, right, Yeah.
I just pulled off maybe the most clutch double swaddle
technique of my my young son Bishop, of his six
weeks on this planet. Like literally, just as the clocks
take in, I got my little my alarm on my phone.
It's time to call in for the Got Lead show.

(15:46):
And I'm just finishing the double swallow kind of rock
him and just his eyes clothing at the moment that
I need to get down the hallway, so I just
want to publicly pat myself on the back of the
double swallow line is pulled off. It was like a
three pointer at the buzzer. This let the swaddle is great?
Have you have do you guys ever invested? What were
those called? There's also these like deals like sleep sacks.

(16:07):
Have you if you guys done sleep sack, which is like, yeah,
sleep section pretty money. You don't have to actually do
the swaddle. You just put them in a sleep sack
and you zip it up and there they go. It's
like a little papoose for him. My problem is I'm
still in the because this is our first kid and
it's only been six weeks, so I'm still in like
the daddy hero phase where I'm like, I'm just gonna

(16:28):
I don't need sleep, and when the kids sleep and
I'm not gonna sleep, I'm gonna like wash clothes and
do laundry and scrub bottles and give my life a
break because I'm out of town the weekends during the
college season, so we have gotten so many sleep sacks
getted to us by so many great friends. I have
yet to use one of them because I take pride

(16:48):
in the fact that I'm swaddling the mess out of
my son right now. So I feel like I'm probably
a couple of weeks away from this where the bags
have gotten so heavy under my eyes and I'm like
drooling on myself in my over and it. So I
pull with them sometimes where it's gonna be sleep back
time soon. But I'm still trying to do the daddy
hero thing right now. I feel you. I definitely feel
for all. Right, let's get to let's get to Donald Rosen.

(17:09):
Not that I don't care about your kid. I am
a dad. It is a great all the phases are great.
We can go through a different time Rosen, Donald. I mean,
I don't know, like how bad musty off the field
stuff with Rosen b for people to even consider Donald
uh to be maybe better or as good a prospect

(17:32):
as Rosen, considering when you watch Rosen play like that
guy looks like an NFL quarterback. He looks like a
traditional NFL quarterback. And I don't think the game Saturday
night could have played out anymore perfectly. Just to show
the start contrast between these two players, and there have
been moments this season where we've seen Josh Rosen do

(17:53):
a little bit of a Sam Donald impersonation, and we've
seen it times this season in UFC offense with Sam
Bronald has done a little bit of a Josh Rosen impersonation.
But overall, at their core, that's who these guys are.
Josh Rosen is the the micro processor. He's the guy
who's gonna sit in the pocket. He's gonna do everything
he can, all the mental gymnastics necessary to dissect the

(18:14):
defense pre snap and know where he needs to go
with the ball. He's gonna stand in the pocket like
one of these you know, terminators who's not afraid of
the defense coming and busting him in the chops. Where conversely,
Sam Donald is this new age new air quarterback. He's
like nothing we've ever seen from the USC Trosans at
quarterback where a lot of his processing takes place post snap,

(18:34):
you know, pre snap. He's good, he can get it done.
He knows where things are gonna happen, but he allows
the play to break down. He turns it into that
second reaction, third reaction play far more quickly than Josh
Rosen does, and there are systems in the National Football League,
but that suits you know what I mean, He's more
Russell Wilson. He's more a kind to that than Josh

(18:54):
Rosen is. Where you're looking for a quarterback who's going
to extend to play and gift perhaps wide receivers that
you can't just throw into in traffic and make the
contested grab. If they don't just break by and open,
it's tends to be rare in the NFL. Then that's
where you have the contrasting styles of QB. But there's
a lot of things physically that Sam Donald's cape full

(19:14):
of that Josh Rosen is not. So this is gonna
be dispected so succinctly in the months leading into the
draft if they both come out. I look, I talked
to two g ms, actually texted with who gms during
the game, and they said, like, skill set wise to
the NFL, it's not close. But it's also the exact
opposite in terms of off the field. Um, the question

(19:36):
marks you have about Rosen, and it's not it's not
even criminal stuff, it's leadership stuff. It's does he like
to party? Is he aloof as opposed to Donald, who
all of his guys swear by right, like the lineman
love him, the defensive guys love him, the coaches love him,
like everybody loves that guy. And oh yeah, by the way,
though his team has more talent, he finds white ways

(19:57):
to win games, as opposed to Rosen, who's coach just coach,
just got fired. Let's let's talk about that. Uh. Look,
I grew up in southern California. My sister was a
cheerier U c l A. My brother went to u
c l A. So I've been to Rose Bowl games.
I know how hard it is to get students, uh,
to get on a bus and go and you know,
bus ride drinking for an hour before they get to

(20:18):
the Rose Bowl for a home football game, as opposed
to all the other schools in the league having the
stadiums right there on campus. I know it's harder to
get kids into school than some of the other traditional powers.
But it's l a. There are players there. Who do
you think is the best fit to be the next
head coach? The name Chip Kelly has floated around. Apparently

(20:40):
they're already talking to have spoken with him earlier in
the day to day. I think there's a lot of
possibilities that Chip Kelly is going to have. You know,
I was personally surprised that U c l A was
willing to come up with the money for the Gen
Moore body out, So that to me is at least
an indicator that they're looking to and willing to be
aggressive fiscally with what they're gonna make in the next

(21:03):
coaching higher because not only are you factoring in the
twelve million million dollars that are Oldergen Mora, but now
we're gonna go out and find another high dollar coach
to do that. That will be another one that I'm
surprised by if they go to the top of the
financial food chain where at the collegiate level, Chiff Kelly
will likely demand top dollar because his resume at that
level and just his perception at that level of a

(21:24):
guy who revolution ed the program in organ took it
to new heights after already being successful before he became
the head coach, and he's going to continue having multiple
suitors this year. Off didn't doing anything to hurt the
resume of Chiff Kelly because there's job's coming open, So
will you see LA be willing to outbid someone else.
I think that's likely going to need to happen, because

(21:45):
as much as we're hearing that maybe he does prefer
to return to the Pact of Region, there may be
some truth to that. But if the dollars on the
other and if there's dollars from the SEC, if he
holds up for another week, and then we'll see what
happens with Kevin Summon. For some reason he's not back
at college station. There's another job that could offer top
dollar max dollar to a coach to try and bring

(22:06):
into their program that already had talent in there that
Chip Kelly could potentially come in very quickly and turn around.
I think U c l A is going to be
in a fitting work. They want to go to Chip
Telly direction to me, I just mentioned Kevin Summon. That's
a coach I'm very fond of. I like Kevin Sumone
a lot. I think he's the guy that whether or
not Texas A and M holds on to him, maybe
you can get that next tier of contract for a

(22:28):
coach where he maybe not demand the Chip Telly money,
but he's gonna be big money. Maybe that's more where
U c l A saves just a few dollars on
a coach that I still think is amongst the best
in college football. I think there's the resumes there for
Kevin Summon, and he could leave a situation that at
times has been toxic, the toxic could Texas A and
M and come through a more realistic fan base in

(22:49):
U c l A. I completely agree with you, And look,
U c l A fans will hate it if they
get him. And I actually think you can get him
on the cheap right because, uh, you can work out
a deal there with A and M where they on
him to go away. They want to make a change,
but they don't want to pay the full buy out,
and so there there is a deal to be made there.
If you're if you're U c l A, and if
you are Texas A and M, and he is A.

(23:10):
He is an indefatigable recruiter. He likes to get it
and that's and look, that's the lifeblood of it. And
you know he's had case Keenum when he was at Houston.
He's shown the ability to have quarterbacks that put up
numbers and win games. He's one more than others have
one d A and M and M is slightly above
five program. They are a little brother to Texas no
matter what league they're in, and they're not realistic about it.

(23:32):
I completely agree with you about it. Let's let's get
to a couple other things nationally, Um, Michigan falls again
on the road. Are you a buyer into Wisconsin legitimately
being a top four team in the country. I wouldn't
pick them against four of the other teams in the country.

(23:52):
So no, just doing it through that lens. But do
I think if Wisconsin wins the next couple of ball
games and they deserve to be in the cops football players, yes,
and undefeated with consin Badgers deserved to be in the
college football Playoff? Will they have to show me still
a bit more? You know, a boy beating Minnesota, by
beating Ohio State would have to show me some things
in those games for me to really think they're one

(24:14):
of the four best teams in the country. For sure, Yes,
but I'm willing to watch and I think they're on
the cusp of it. I think they're on the brink
of it because there is something to be said for
being eleven and oh on a big team schedule. I
just still don't know that the other four teams where
we would try four or five teams and we would
consider in that top four over with coonsin. I don't
know that I would pick the Badgers over any of
the men if we sit here today, But that doesn't

(24:36):
mean they can't show me something over the next two
weeks where I feel better about them. Yeah, I just
last thing, would Baker Mayfield grabbing his junk and the
other stuff that he's done, would that keep you from
voting for him for the Hisman. It would not keep
me from voting for him for the Hiveman. It would
likely keep me from grafting and high in the National
Football League. There there's enough of a current. It's here

(25:00):
that's recurred frequently enough where to me, you need to
be an adult, and you know a lot of folks
will I suppose at this point rightly makes the Johnny
Manzel comparison with Mandel was coming out. I do believe
Baker Magfield has a similar skill set, perhaps not quite
a mobile, perhaps a bigger arm. So I think comparatively
there's some some similarities in some contrasts you can make there,

(25:23):
But to me, you have to be an adult if
you're gonna be a starting quarterback in the National Football
League and actually carry a franchise on your shoulders in
the way that many quarterbacks do. You've gotta be a
grown up, and I don't see grown up behavior consistently
enough for Baker Mayfield. That's what worries mean more so.
But the Hider Trophy is a college award. It is
supposed to go to the best player in the country.
And grabbing his jump to me, that's not a reason

(25:45):
to not vote for him for the high that if
you were not going to vote for him, it should
have been back when he was running away from the
police officers a few months ago. That that to me
far outweighs and grabbing a jump on the sidelines when
the other team decided not to shake his hand and
perhaps took a few cheeks out at him during the play.
Anthony Harron from the Pac TWELB Network played at Iowa
does a tremendous job. And he's a new dad, so
bear with him if he makes any mistakes, which he

(26:06):
made none on this show. Uh take care of that
little one, and we and congrats on the on the
double swaddle. We'll talk to you soon. Pleasures mind. Anthony
Harron join us. Let's bring in Dan Buyer. Dan, what
do you mean those Badgers? I know, those pesky Badgers
on Saturday? Yeah, I kinda. I I liked Wisconsin. I
think that Michigan was a team, especially when Brandon Peters

(26:27):
went out with the leg injury. There was no way
that they were going to move the ball against that defense.
If you have if your offense is struggling as Michigan's have,
you can't give up a punt return touchdown, right, you
give a punt return touchdown, that's that's free points. Uh.
I thought Wisconsin should have been given a touchdown on
further review on the replay in the first half as well. Um,

(26:48):
I thought they missed the receiver head is right foot down.
They said some luck to go against them. But I
think Michigan's better than their record. But their offense has
just been in tatters with all these injuries at the quarterback,
it's not good. I mean, they really offensively have been
an issue. Had a lot to replace on defense, but
that has been the least of their problems. In so

(27:09):
UM Oklahoma's got other things to deal with, including as
you were talking about with Anthony Herron Baker Mayfield. He
was Lincoln Riley today on Mayfield and the decision to
bench him for the start of the game against West Virginia.
This decision was difficult. Not just Baker, but all these
players across the country are still young men. They're not
adults yet. They're still in that phase where you're going

(27:30):
to make mistakes and the important thing is that you
learn from them and grow from him. I think what
we're setting forward here is going to provide Baker an
opportunity to do that. Also won't be the team captain
for their match up against West Virginia coming up this
How much does he sound like Bob Stoops? Is it
like he sounds Remember when Kobe first came out and
he sounded exactly like he was doing Michael Jordan impression? Right, Yes,

(27:56):
Lincoln Riley is doing a Bob Stoops impression. Lincoln Riley
is not from Ohio, He's from Texas, but that accent
is Ohio. Can you play that for me? Well, I
know you, you play your own self. Difficult. Not just Baker,
but all these players across the country are still young man.
That sounds exactly like Bob Stub's all I wanted to

(28:16):
say is okay, no question. Everybody knows that. Certainly, okay.
He sounds exactly like It's like when you hang around
with us, you know, friends for a long enough time,
maybe you get some of their quirks as well. Well.
They say when you're married a long time, you start
to look like the person you're married too. Uh Ramos's
wife is starting to lose her hair. She laughs. She
laughs incessantly all the time as well. She's also developing

(28:39):
a really bad temper um. She can't coach soccer. Hey,
it happens, It happens. John we Go love into the
NFL reps up tonight with the Falcons at Seahawks eight
thirty Eastern. Tom Bracos today fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy
and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave, while the
Bears released kicker Connor Barth after he missed a field
goal against the Lions that would have tied the game

(29:01):
at the end of regulation. Former NFL Ohio state wide
receiver Terry Glenn killed in a car accident earlier this
morning in Dallas. Glenn was forty three years old, and
I'm I'm not trying to be terse in anyway. But
to those of us who are old enough to remember
Terry Glenn Plato, Ohuse State, great player at Ohio State,
he has remembered for one word, one word in the NFL.

(29:23):
Right she she right? Ramos and that that we you? Um? Yes, he.
Bill Parcels was his coach with the New England Patriots
and he was asked about Terry Glenn after a practice
or after a game, and he was like one of
the oft injured guys early in his career, and he
called Terry Glenn she purposefully right, and obviously really ticked

(29:47):
off Terry Glenn. But that's what he was known for.
That's terrible. Forty three years, forty three year, I don't
know what the over under on what how long? Three
is not long enough? That's a sad, sad dude. Yeah. Finally, Doug,
the George of Dome imploded to in Atlanta. Yes, the
facility that was the home to so many great Final four's,
Super Bowl and SEC Championship games, and of course the

(30:08):
home to the Falcons imploded in Atlanta, right next door
to that brand new Mercedes Spend Stadium. Um. Anybody else
love implosions of buildings? Yes, I think they're amazing. I
can't get I can't. I don't know what I like
watching better, injuries or implosions. I just I guess probably
injuries because they're not planned, but implosions. It's remarked like

(30:29):
if you watch the implosion of the Georgia done, and
I've watched this eleven I watched eleven times. It's flying
back from Kansas City. I did the College Basketball Hall
of Fame induction ceremony. How about last night I got
a chance to interview John Stockton, Tim Duncan, Paul Silas,
uh my boy, Jay Williams. Like it was unbelievable night. Anyway,
I watched eleven times after he came came up live

(30:50):
on Twitter, and I'm still amazed. If you watch it,
the new Dome, Mercedes Benz whatever that's called, next to it,
like it goes on top. How they do that? The
fact that we can blow up buildings that implode them,
it makes them easier obviously to take apart and it
doesn't hurt anything around. Like that's somebody is way smarter

(31:10):
than me. Like I already knew people are way smarter
than me. Like you're walking around a cell phone, like
damn somebody invented this. That is smart technology. Um, but
the fact that we have people in this country you
can go like, yeah, you know, if you blow it
up just this way, it'll fall in perfectly and it
won't damage the building that's right next door to it.
How does that happen? I love it? It is so

(31:34):
I'm just I'm happy that buyers that like, you're a
complete idiot, because I just that's what I do. I'm like,
am I the only one who's fascinating about this? I
like the when the circle stadiums, what it would be like,
it would almost like go clockwise. Yeah. On one of
my favorite scenes to uh Oceans eleven, right, what was

(31:55):
it called that they were gonna they were gonna do
They're gonna uh oh man me remember it anyway, when
they set up the explode the the bomb, not the bomb.
I think it turned off all the lights. It's like
a bomb without the bomb. But but there was something else.
Remember there was an implosion of a hotel in the
background that essentially did what they were going to do

(32:17):
originally for the original plan. Was it Don Cheetham who
played Cheetle, who played that character right right? You can't
understand his accent. Nobody can understand him. Great movie, unbelievable casting.
She Elen is a good one. The Bills don't know
who they're starting quarterback? Is big deal, little deal or
no deal? I will tell you up coming next What
True Car You can find out what other people in

(32:38):
your area paid for the same car you're looking for,
new or used. Visit True Car to enjoy more confident
car buying experience. How about the Denver Broncos at six straight?
So funny? How the how September is really the preseason? Right? Like?
Patriots looked terrible in September. Broncos looked awesome in September.

(33:01):
Now look at them now the Saints. We'll get back
to this. The Saints were awful in September. Saints have
inspectaculor ever since one one an incredibly hard fought I
do think the Redskins are this year's Chargers, if you will,
the NFC better than their record because of so many
close games, difficult schedule, etcetera, etcetera. This is game time

(33:28):
side on the Doug gott Leave Show. I got some
college football, we got some bask NBA basketball. Um when
we have some soccer we have some NFL football all
part of game time. Damn fire what he got fired? Yeah?
The game today, Doug. We are playing big deal, little deal,
no deal. All right, let's start in the Mile High City.

(33:48):
Big deal, little deal or no deal. That The Broncos
fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy after a three and seven
start to the season. As you mentioned, Denver's lost their
last six. Yeah, somebody had to go, and it's easier
to find fire your coordinator. This is kind of part
for the course, right You fire coordinator and Bill Musgrave
is gonna gonna take over um. And Musgrave was with
the Raiders I think last year and did a really

(34:09):
good job. So the weird thing is McCoy actually remember
he was with the Broncos before he got the Charger's job,
and he was good as a coordinator there. I don't
think they have good enough line. That's probably him and
some of the schemes. I also don't think they have
good enough quarterback play. That's not his fault. I like,
John Elwey's not gonna fire himself, but he could based

(34:31):
upon these decisions, went cheap on a head coach and
went cheap on quarterback and look at the returns he's got.
Remember this is a team that beat the Cowboys with
Ezekiel Elliott and Tyrond Smith and week two another team
should have gone after Tony Romo. Denver Broncos up now,
by the way, tied for the second worst record in
the a f C. Browns have the worst, tied with
the Colts. Um big deal, a little deal or no deal, Doug,

(34:53):
Let's just stay at the a f C West that
Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch didn't stand for the Star
Spangled banner, but did stand for Mexico Goes national anthem
prior to yesterday's game against the Patriots in Mexico City. Yeah,
I wouldn't have thought it was a big deal if
he just didn't stand for national anthems. But to stand
for there's out of respect, but not stand for ours
when you're in for in soil. I don't like it,

(35:15):
but I also know it's Marshall and Lynch, and people
make excuses from Marshall Lynch's behavior that I mean, we're
gonna talk about we're talking about crotchcrabs in college football.
Marshawn's gotten away with it several times over in the
NFL UM. I don't know. His act is just tired
to me. The whole thing is tired to me. But
it was it wasn't unexpected. I think it was more

(35:38):
unexpected that he stood for Mexico's anthem than it was
he kneeled for ours. I guess he is a big deal,
little deal. No, I think it's a little deal, just
because I did expect it to happen from somebody and
Marshall Lynch, I don't think he's I don't. I don't
know if he's ever stood for our anthem, but it's
one of those no one's ever asked him about it,
and standing for Mexico's anthem shows intentional disrespect towards ours.

(36:00):
Big deal, little deal or no deal. Doug that Buffalo
Bill's head coach Sean McDermott was noncommittal towards who would
start at quarterback Week twelve against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Decision maker when you waivers, when you get yourself in trouble,
and so you've gotta stay obviously listening to people, listening
to opinions of people I trust when a decision needs

(36:21):
to be made, to be decisive and go and go
with That was McDermott earlier today after Nathan Peterman a
day after the ricky through five interceptions that lost to
the Chargers. Um, is it a big deal? Little deal?
It's a I do think it's a it's a big deal, um,
because like, look, if you had come back and go like,

(36:42):
look we're gonna get Peterman another shot, you gotta be
bold and say it. Otherwise it makes him look indecisive.
What because he's indecisive. I'm sure he wants to watch
the film and find out how much Peterman was to
blame because it comes out comes at you so fast
and you just felt like you can't throw the kid
back out there. But I like McDermott did this last week.

(37:04):
Last week he stood by Tyrod Taylor until Wednesday and
pulled the trigger. Now Here we are Monday, and he's
still gonna take it under consideration. I just well, that
was that was a tough way to start your career. Boy.
It seems pretty obvious that the Bills are going to
move on from whoever could be quarterback on their team
this year. Um, starting this offseason? How about this from

(37:24):
college football? Big deal, a little deal or no deal?
That Chip Kelly hasn't given Florida an answer on a
reported contract offer from the school to coach their football
program because apparently he wants to hear from U c
l A. I don't blame him. Uh, that's a less
no deal that I don't like. That's what you do,
right he has right now, he has ultimate leverage. There's
no buy out. You know, he doesn't owe anybody anything

(37:46):
except for you know, ESPN little heads up. He's going
to take the job. Not all the jobs are open,
and so Florida or U c l A. I mean,
I look Florida. I think I think Florida is actually
easy to recruit to UM and I do think his
style because there's such there's been such bad quarterback play,

(38:06):
specifically at Florida, but in the sec that nobody plays
that way. Uh. He'd have more buy in immediately at
U c l A because of his success on the
West Coast, but either place, he just he didn't want
to go back to college because he didn't want to recruit.
So as much as the job is his for the taking,
I would have a lot of questions if I'm either

(38:27):
school about hiring him, Who are you gonna run? Who
are you gonna hire his coach, how are they going
to get the players? And are you going to engage
in recruiting, because if not, you're not gonna win big
And I think that's even more problematic out of place
like Florida, which urban Meyer. There's a lot of things
about his coaching that's great, but when they won national
championships with Tim Tebow, they had the best players in

(38:48):
the country. No one wins without players, big deal, little
deal or no deal. Doug that the results are in
from the championship match between the John Ramos led Blue
Crew and the Pink Posse that A heard on Saturday. John,
the final score was four zero in favor of ya.
That's that's that's that's a little deal. Everybody knew John

(39:11):
Romos couldn't. He couldn't organize a fish job full disclosure.
Asked John what the final score was? I said three nothing,
and he's that could have been four. He kind of
lost track of the last goal. I just didn't even
know what the final score was. Was that dejected? This
is game time on the Duck Gotlieb Show. Yeah, we

(39:31):
lost sixteen fifteen in baseball, Yeah, sixteen fifteen in baseball.
Little guy had a tough couldn't throw a strike. He
had to get in there. They only get pitches because
we had to save guys for the next day if
we won and we did not. The question people are
asking themselves is Baker Mayfield the next Johnny Manzel or
the next Russell Wilson. I'll tell you next. What up?

(39:51):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. What a
show for you we got today. Daniel Jeremiah is gonna
join us today in instead of tomorrow like he usually does,
because I'll be doing TV tomorrow and the next day.
You'll hit me on the Dan Patrick Show. Later this
week you hear me on Colin Cowherd show Shuffle Old

(40:11):
DG Around, which I'm cool with. I like doing different
there's different like kind of different parts of your brain
fire based upon different styles the TV show, different roles
on radio shows, whatever. So we're gonna move Daniel Jeremiah up.
If you haven't heard DJ before, he's great. He's got
his own podcast work for the NFL network. He'll join

(40:32):
us in an hour and fifteen or so. D'Angelo Williams,
who joins us every Monday. Pro Bowl running back here
a lot of Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers. He's gonna join us
upcoming in fifteen minutes, and we're gonna allow him to
pat himself on the back repeatedly because he said it
was weird because he said that Doc is a game
manager and that's all they've trained him to be. My

(40:53):
assessment is like, I just don't think that's that good,
and that's why they haven't managed a game. He believes
that can be her, but they have to allow him
to win and lose football games. Um, it's an interesting discussion.
We'll have an upcoming in fifteen minutes, all right, So
what do we do with Baker Mayfield. Earlier today, Lincoln
Riley announced that he would not be suspended for the

(41:13):
West Virginia game. Instead, he just wouldn't start and wouldn't
be a captain for the West Virginia game. This is
Baker Mayfield's head coach. I know he's disappointed in himself
and his actions, But I think the thing that probably
disappoints him the most, it's probably twofold one that that
the incident took away some of the attention from you know,

(41:34):
the his teammates and the great job that his his
teammates are doing and the other I know he really
prides himself on on setting a great example for for
young kids. Uh. Look, if you didn't see the game,
here's what happened. Kansas sucks at football, right. The running

(41:54):
joke in the Big twelve is um running joke in
the Big twelve is let me know in Kansas decided
to go Division one in football. They are that bad.
They have one win all season and in an effort
to get inside Riley's head is what they said. They
decided to not shake hands, didn't shake hands at opening kickoff,

(42:17):
and Baker Mayfield decided was trying to shake hands during
the game. There are a couple of cheap shots taking
Oklahoma players, most notably at Baker Mayfield, specifically his right
shoulder one in which uh ended up costing Kansas fifteen
yards and helped Oklahoma's offense. And Baker Mayfield was not
clicking all cylinders in the first half score right before

(42:39):
the half. So uh, whether it was because of trash talking,
whether because the cheap shots, the lack of a handshake
Baker Mayfield. Once they started to score some touchdowns and
running up on lowly Kansas grabbed his junk right and
was yelling at the other sidelines. I'm not terribly bothered

(43:01):
by the junk grab, but if you're gonna grab your
junk against Kansas, like, really, don't waste to junk grab
on a team that's barely a Division one football team.
Waste a junk grab, you know, going into the end
zone when you're winning the first ever Big twelve championship.
If you're gonna do a junk rap, here's Baker Saturday
after the game. I got caught up in a competitive game,

(43:23):
chippy game. But what I did today tonight, it's unacceptable.
I am a competitive player, but that's what what I
did is unacceptable, and so I apologize. It's disrespectful. It's
not the example I want to say that. It's not
the legacy I want to leave it over you. It's not.
So I truly do apologize. It's you know, think about

(43:45):
the kids that are watching. It's not it's not something
I want to do. So to the parents out there,
I'm sorry. It's not you know, anything that you want
your kids to watch her JAP role modelside. I really
do a pologize. From about an hour, HI like, all right,
I I don't know. I like, I guess some people,
but you can't give him the Heisman Trophy. Why because

(44:07):
they were taking cheap shots and talking trash and so
he's talking trash back Like I don't know. I actually
think that's more football. Should he have done it? No,
All he needs to do is point to the scoreboard.
Equally effective, point to the scoreboard, point to his ring finger,
do the Heisman trophy post which, by the way, here's
the amazing thing about it, right, the Heisman Trophy pose.

(44:28):
Had he done it against Kansas on a touchdown pass,
some would have loved it. But someone has said, what
are you doing doing against Kansas? Right? So I think,
um um, I think it's it's really fascinating to watch
people's reaction and related to Jamis Winston, who, in fairness

(44:50):
to Jamis Winston, won the Heisman Trophy, but did so
amongst sexual assault allegations. None of it were proved. He
was he was not proven innocent, but he was definitely
not proving guilty at all. It was never even charged
with a crime. Like people related to a lot of things,
everybody wants to know, is he the next man's l
I think the difference is that the off the off

(45:11):
the field stuff. Did he get chased out at Arkansas
because he was underage drinking? Like, yeah, but what were
they doing chasing down underage drinker on a college campus anyway? Right?
I mean that's like, that's like arresting a dude for
having a joint at a fish concert. Arrest the guy
who doesn't have a joint the fish concert. I mean, really,

(45:33):
there's fewer people who arrest So I guess I'm supposed
to be sitting here and bothered and say what about
the children? And I do know that being quarterback of
Oklahoma and being Baker Mayfield, I do know that that's
that's a big burden. And when you're a quarterback and
if you're in NFL, that's not how you're supposed to
But most of his actions, all except for the deal
that at Arkansas in the summer when he was drinking,

(45:57):
all of them are acts of a super hyper competitive player.
If I don't draft him early, it's because he's five
ft eleven. If I don't draft him early, it's because
he runs around and he's not great from the pocket.

(46:17):
So I don't think he's Manzel, because I do think
Manzel was given a lot more rope. I think Manzell's
background was different. I think Manzel had a drinking problem
and probably had a little bit of a drug problem,
and that's what led to him losing his job and
losing his shot in the NFL. I can separate the
two and uh, look the first you know, not starting

(46:40):
a game, it's symbolic, but that one hurts. We can
say it doesn't hurt, but that one hurts. Music with
that effect in your in your mind, with that effect,
your desire to see him get the Heisman Trophy, not
the Heisman Trophy I think in terms of his an
amount NFL prospects. Yeah, because when you talk about quarterbacks,

(47:00):
it's all about decision making and those are just all
poor decisions that he's continued to make. And I know
he also talked about it after the game where he's like,
I gotta be smarter and knowing, like the cameras always
on me. When did you ever think that the camera
wasn't on you? Like every single game is televised. He's
just not thinking of them in the moment, you're not thinking.

(47:21):
I mean I did all that. But to go back
to your original question, no, I don't think it has
any effect on what his ability to win the Heisman Trophy,
especially because this year has been such a year where
in September everyone's like, oh, just put Sae Kwon Barkley's
name on it. That's the end of it. And then
he's fallen off considerably. There's no one they're really challenging

(47:42):
him as the best player in college football. I thought
there's something in the Heisman Trophy deal that says about,
you know, being a stand up person or something something
on those lines, and that standard persons but still has Yeah,
but that was after like Tom cam Newton was bought
and sold to go to Auburn, right, like that was

(48:04):
kind of established. So I mean, um, yeah, there is
something in there, but the awards are the best for
college football player in the country. I actually think that
part of what draws me to Mayfield is this, like
that dude plays with a chip on his shoulder. And

(48:24):
by the way that they've taken shots at his shoulder,
thank you shots to his shoulder. Guys are talking junk
like this is sports. I'm sorry, but it's sports. Um yeah,
I don't think it's but I look, I think he's
a great he's basically a case keenom type in the NFL.

(48:45):
He's a guy who's small, can run around, can throw
back there, He's got a live arm, but he's undersized,
and he'll have to have just the right fit. But
for the most part, he'll be a backup. I like
a guy who is a competitive as hell backup who
desperately wants to be a starter. That's what I like.
I'm okay with it. I know the line. I know
he probably tiptoed and crossed over line. I don't think

(49:05):
he two foot jumped over line. I just don't. Pro
Bowl running back D'angela Williams joins the show. Up coming next,
we'll give him another victory lap on his Dak Prescott
uh prediction, calling him a game manager, and get get
his sense of what the hell should Buffalo do now?
Like what do you do now? And what happened to

(49:26):
Kansas City's offense from the best team in the best
offense in the NFL too, they scored a touchdown like
six quarters? Find out up coming next, But first, Doug

gott Leave Show, Fox Sports Radio. Look, when we have
predictions that go wrong, will you get roasted for it?
So when we have people say things that end up

(50:54):
playing out right, I gotta give him credit. Let's give credit,
Toto Angela Williams. He has said all year. Hey, look,
Dak Prescott got great offense, line, great running game, got
town around him. But all they've trained to do is
manage the game. They got trained to win games on
his own. You lose your left tacky, lose your running back.
Look what's happened he called it. It's played out as such.

(51:15):
D'Angelo Williams, two time Pro bowler, joins us every week. Um,
go ahead in your victory lap, D'Angelo, every everything you
said about Dak Prescott has become a reality. It shouldn't
be a victory lap man, it should be it's a
victory season. I'm so grateful and gracious to have played
this game for as long as I've played it. And

(51:38):
that's not the only thing that I called. I also
called the Kansas City Chiefs. Demise almost called I called
that single handily because it's a rhythm game, and when
you've played it for such a long time, you know
exactly what they expect, you know exactly the rhythms, and
you know exactly what's about to happen. Well, you know,
sometimes people get lost in the soft because sometimes that

(52:00):
fandom is a lot more than reality and they don't
see those signs of this team is gonna let you down.
Dac Again, it's not a victory lap. It's been a
victory season for myself because the most annoying fans in
the entire universe are the Cowboys fans, especially if they're
going to one or two or three game win streak,

(52:23):
because they're always going to the ship. They always fall
back to the days of the Michael Irvine, the Edmond Smith's,
the Troy Aqmans. They've been trying to replace those guys
since they won all those championships with those guys, and
there's no way that they can replace those guys. I've
said it time and time again. Das Brian is an
average receiver at best. Uh. They give him way more

(52:44):
credit than UH he needs, only because he he as
he's as bow stress as thrill Owins was in Shadow
Josinko without the production. So he's merely just uh, top
notch guy off the field because of how outspoken he is.
Diesel his play, his play done, His play doesn't say

(53:07):
the same. No, I look, I think he I think
there was a time in which he was the top five,
top ten wide receiver. I would agree like since he
heard his foot, I don't think he's been the same.
And don't give him any excuses, Doug, because there's a
lot of people that had injuries and came back and
outperformed uh themselves in terms of being better than they

(53:27):
were before injuries. So you can't just say if it
was because of the foot. No, I didn't say it
because I'm not. I'm not saying because of the foot.
I'm just saying since the foot he had, he has
not been a top five, top ten wide receiver. Right.
I find no, And I think Jason Witten's finally aged
um and so so you take the best the two

(53:48):
best parts of that offense, the left tackle and the
running back away from Dak, and Dak looks like, okay,
well that's why he was taken in the fourth round.
And by the way, as you point out, des Bryant,
the the the name des Brian is better than the
actual production of des Bryant. Absolutely, there you go, Doug,
About time somebody hit the nail on the head, because

(54:08):
for time and time again we've been pounding and pounding
and pounding and pounding and missing the nail of the
head and right now you're the first one to hit it.
L Williams joining us on the Doug Gotlib Show on
on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, so, um, are the Seahawks dead? Like?
Is this the can we can we bury them? Like?

(54:30):
We know they've had offensive line issues, but they there's
no no Richar de Terman, no Cam Chancellor um and
they have offensive line issues. Like are we okay closing
the book on the Seahawks. I don't know. And I've
been trying to figure out one out. And the reason
why I've been trying to figure that out is because

(54:52):
let's just be honest here. Okay, there's about four or
maybe five teams in NFC that would be tough opponents
for the Seattle UH Seahawks right now. That would be
the Philadelphia Eagles, that would be the New Orleans thanks
because of their high powered offense. Uh, that would be

(55:14):
the Minnesota Vikings and then the Rams. Like I'm kind
of hard pressed after that. I would say the Carolina Panthers,
but you don't know which offense to show up. So yeah,
but you're you're thinking, you're thinking Seattle. I mean, no,
Cam chance to remember how bad they were when he
was holding out. Now you take out Richard Sherman and
think and maybe Richard Sherman isn't what he used to be,

(55:36):
but he's still Richard damn Sherman. I mean, you take
both those guys out of the defensive back here, I'm
still I'm getting to it right now. I'm getting to
it right now. The thing about that is is this,
the Jaguars right now have a pretty good record, and
everybody's pretty like their fans are behind them, and they're
talking about playoffs, playoffs, playoffs, right, quarterback right. But the

(56:01):
I'm at all boils down to the culture. The culture
over there in Seattle is going to allow them to
go to the playoffs, not saying that they're gonna get
far because the culture that he's bred down in Seattle,
that culture is the next guy up. But we're gonna
play until we're not able to play Richard Shermanite like

(56:23):
Camp Champions, those guys, those guys go down and of
course they're they're big holes to field, but they'll get
them feel But the teams that they're playing are not
playing their good football, like the the Atlanta Falcons tonight.
Like you look at the Atlanta Falcons team and you
just like you can go either way, even though Seattle
has those holes that they have on their defense because

(56:44):
of the culture that they have over in Seattle. S
Doug the show Fox Sports Radio going with culture on
me is like, I did not see that coming from you.
I thought you were going personnel. You're going culture on me.
I'm going I'm going culture because at the end end
of the day, the Cleveland Browns are not as bad
as well know. They are, all right, I can't even

(57:06):
I was gonna try to do. They're bad. But the
Jacksonville Jaguars, so I and I've used this example before.
I've used this example before. You look at the Pittsburgh
Steelers and they're screaming super Bowl, super Bowl, super Bowl,
whereas the Jacksonville Jaguars are screaming playoffs, playoffs, playboffs. What

(57:27):
do you do once you get to the playoffs. You've
achieved your goal, So do you continue to say, Hey,
we gotta keep we gotta go to the next one.
Whereas the Pittsburgh Steelers ultimate goal is the Super Bowl,
regardless of who's playing. So it's all about culture there, Doug.
And once you once you established their culture, players come

(57:48):
in and they play over their heads. And that's the
thing that Seattle has over a lot of teams that
they're gonna play for the rest of the season. Like
you know, a lot of flouts because we were shocked
that they made it to the Super Bowl last year.
You can tell by three blowout leave that they lost. Um,
I want to ask you about the Minnesota Vikings. They
got a little bit of help Cooper cup Uh had

(58:09):
a big drop. He also had a big fumble. And
they're playing in Minnesota. The place was hype. That defense
is really fast, it's really hard, very very impressive and
and like look, case Keenum has been much better obviously
in that offense that he was in in the Rams
offense last year. Pretty good running game even without Dalvin Cook.

(58:29):
I mean, is that defense good enough, fast enough to
carry them, especially considering all the injuries in the NFC
in Dallas in Seattle, as we previously mentioned. And and
you're gonna be shocked that I say this, and I'm
gonna say it, Doug, that defense, the Minnesota Vikings defense,
is the equivalent of the Philadelphia Eagles defense. But Carson

(58:54):
Wentz is getting all the credit. It's a good point
that the quarter the quarterback in minnesot there is just
not getting that credit because it's Case keenan one week
and then like it's a quarterback controversy, do you stay
with him? Because at first Case Kenny was an issue.
So now that he's winning football games, granted it's the defense,
but now that he's quote unquote winning football games, like,

(59:15):
do you make the switch now? Or do you give
him his job back? But let's just be honest. The
Philadelphia Eagans defense is playing over their head. The Minnesota
Vikers defense playing over the head. The Carolina Panthers defense
is that defense that they normally play. So I honestly
don't think that it has anything to do with Carson
Wentz or the quarterback situation over there. I think that

(59:37):
both of these defenses are gonna be defenses to be
record with when they get to the playoffs. So yes,
the Viking defenses defense is as good as advertised. I
mean the Rams couldn't run the ball. Granted the quarterback
that they got over there. If I'm a defense, I'm
gonna force that quarterback to beat me. I'm not gonna
let TOI Gurley beat me. Um. The Buffalo Bills decided

(59:59):
to to pull Tyrod Taylor and start Nathan Peterman. He
throws five picks in the first half, then they go
back to Tyrod Taylor. Can they go back to Peterman
after what he did in Los Angeles this weekend? Doug, Yes,
I wanna. I want to ask you if there's any
way that we can implement every week what we add

(01:00:23):
a segment to our show? Can we do that? We'll
tell me what the segments or not necessarily a segment,
but we'll put something in. There were Thomas who made
the dumbest decision of the weekend, And I will tell
you the staff for the Buffalo Bills, which I don't
even know why they even made that call. Why would
you bench Tyrod Taylor? Like that's why would you make

(01:00:46):
the midseason change? Granted you guys are not playing well
on offense, but nobody even heard of the quarterback that
was behind Tyrod Taylor. You put yourself in a bad
situation by even giving Tyrod to Taylor that money that
you gave him on the production that he can potentially
produce you. So you're gonna try to cover up your

(01:01:07):
mistake by bringing in another knowing that bringing in the
game a guy behind him that has no history of
winning football games. I don't even know how many passes
he's thrown. I'm sure my daughters have thrown more passes exactly.
But then you try to cover it up. And then now,
now you're sitting here at five and five or what
are they four and five now? Uh? No, I think

(01:01:30):
they're five and five, four and five. Either way, they're
sitting here and they're in the middle of the pack.
Uh they're great on defense, in the middle of the
pack on offense, and they're trying to figure out what
the hell is going on with their offense. Well, the
problem is this Sometimes the front office, well not sometimes
a lot of the times, the front office and this
coaching staff, instead of doing like all NBA players do

(01:01:52):
when they in the shooting slop they just keep shooting.
The coaches don't allow them to do that. They pulled them,
and then right when their luck about the turn and
they they turned into that good quarterback, which is the
reverse of Alex smith. Um. They pull them and then
when they pull them and then Tyrod Taylor comes in
the game and then he throws a touchdown pass and

(01:02:13):
the quarterback, I mean, the offense that miss a beat
the next weekend, and guess what, you've got some quarterback issues,
not necessarily uh internally, but outside sources. Because now everybody's
talking about man Tyrod really looked good because you're comparing
them to a quarterback that got in and through five things.

(01:02:34):
I mean, now, now you've got a serious mess on
your hands because because Tyron didn't even really play well
when he came, he didn't look like he did. He didn't.
But it look better than five interceptions. Everybody looks better
than five intersp there's no question. Absolutely. Okay, you told
us last week that the Patriots had figured out how
to use their guys where to use their guys. But
you've also talked about so much about how the Steelers

(01:02:56):
are gonna play, you know, like they did Thursday, kind
of up and down to the level of competition. He'll
figure it out by the end of the year. Yeah,
if you're going to Vegas and you're going to bet
a substantial amount of that NFL money that you got
saved up, you're putting on the Steelers. You're putting on
the Patriots represent the FC. Uh you answer my question,

(01:03:21):
it's the Patriots, but your boys with everybody in the Steelers.
So you don't want to say it right, No, no, no,
it's it's not even that. It's it's tough right now, honestly,
um to to really pick any one of those teams,
but you gotta pick one of them that you got
to pick Kansas City. Are you thanking Bill Jacksonville? No? No, no,

(01:03:46):
I just I don't know. And this is why I
have an issue that defense in New England is sketchy.
They put so much pressure on you with their offense.
Well that's scary, But then you look at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Man,
their defense has been playing lights out. But Ben scared
me because you don't know what Ben you're gonna get.

(01:04:07):
You don't know if you're gonna get the bend that's
gonna overthrow his wide receivers or make bad decisions. Like
I'm one of those guys that I can honestly say
before the before the start of the season, and who
I am right now, I could not tell you that
Ben would have been the one that affected the Pittsburgh
Still's offense the way that he's affected him. And it

(01:04:30):
bothers me when commentators say, hey, he's thrown uh ten interceptions,
but he had one game where he threw five, so
you gotta throw them out. So he's only thrown five like,
and I'm thinking to myself, like, did we just make
him sound better because at the end of the day,
he's still threw ten picks. Yeah, Like I agree, And look,

(01:04:53):
I know that I know the numbers against the Patriots
defense are bad, worst against the past, most past yards,
most total yards allowed of any defense in the NFL.
Does it help the argument at all that the only
thirteenth and points allowed, Like, they allowed a lot of yards.
A lot of that is because they have a lead
and teams throwing them And I don't know. I mean,
I'm telling you right now, Doug, it's it's the it's

(01:05:15):
the New Orleans faints when they want the Super Bowl
all over to get turnovers. Uh, then you gotta get turnovers.
That's it. They they they they made it in turnovers.
They give up all the yards, they give up all
the touchdowns. Us like, this defense is atrocious, but they
was number one in something. You got a major and
something on defense. If you want to be good, you
need the major and third down stops you made you

(01:05:36):
in turnovers. You made your in something and make yourself
good at it, and you could be you can actually
make an impact doing that. That's what I see when
I see this new England Patriots defense. But you also
have to understand this great defense is a well led offense.
So if you're down seven after Tom Brady goes down
there and then one of your receivers drop a ball

(01:05:57):
and defense get out the field. Now you're down four
to know and now I just took you out of
running the ball, so now you have to pass the
ball and make you one dimension him. Yep, great stuff,
we'll work. We'll work on that segment. Who made the
dumbest decision? Who made the dumbest decision? Another weekend, I
was so pissed. I can't believe they've ben man. That's

(01:06:19):
that's just a stupid decision, dude, and I'm glad they
paid for it. D'Angelo Williams, two time pro bowler, joint
us every week great stuff will work on the pre
produced piece and thanks for joining us than music. He's
doing your job for you. You should have come up
with this before. Who had Who made the dumbest decision? Um?
All right, Dan Buyer doesn't make dumb decisions. He joined

(01:06:40):
us now. In the dug out, I was gonna say
I could be a candidate every single day for that
awards a week e loving tonight Falcons and Seahawks in Seattle.
They'll wrap it all up at eight Eastern time tonight.
Pittsburgh Steelers are gonna be without right tackle Marcus Gilbert
for four games. He was suspended for violating the NFL's
p E D policy. He will return after the Dealer's face.

(01:07:00):
The New England Patriots Bears release kicker Connor Barth today
and signed Cairo Santos to replace him, while the Broncos
fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and replaced him with quarterbacks
coach Bill Musgrave. Denver has lost their last six, Bill,
said coach Sean McDermott. As you guys were talking about.
Said today he's still evaluating who will start a quarterback
Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. One game is not

(01:07:23):
gonna define Nathan or Nathan's career. Um. You know, young
players go through it, and you saw some of it yesterday. Um,
and I put that back on myself. I owned the decision.
And as for that decision still, as I said yesterday,
you know, I don't regret the decision. I regret the result.
And there's other hands also in the result. So, um,

(01:07:45):
it's never about one player. That was Sean McDermott on
if Nathan Peterman or Tyrod Taylor will start. In Week twelve,
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield won't start the team's game Saturday
against West Virginia and won't serve as team captain for
the game. Head coach Lincoln Riley announced today the punishment
for may Field following his crutch grabbing antics during Saturday's
win against Kansas and Doug Sixers senter Joela Bead expects

(01:08:05):
to play it out against the Jazz despite being a
game time call with a sore knee. They'll probably be
like that every game this year. Yeah, but that that
gives me that that really really bothers me. If I'm
a seventies sixers fan right now, maybe it doesn't really
have a sore knee and they're just saying that so
they don't get you know, they don't get busted, and
they're not necessarily tanking but for resting players. Um, but

(01:08:29):
that that does in fact bother me. I'm the seven.
He can't even play back to back games, and now
I've got a sore knee and he's so good, Like
the only thing that could derail him is in fact injury.
Peterman five interceptions. That's pretty much the worst I can
ever imagine in a first half. Like that's a Jake
dilom in the playoffs kind of moment. It's hard to

(01:08:49):
come back from. Do you remember, like fire, what's the
worst day you've had? That's a that's a hard one.
And the differences his day was very public. Yes, that's
very very public. We use maddened references a lot here.
It's like, have you ever tried, you know, like when
you get the game and you just try to go
straight to like all Madden level. That's what it was

(01:09:10):
for Nate Peterman. And maybe you should have started at
rookie year pro Yeah, I would say, so that's Dan Buyer.
You'll hear him top half past every hour. Course has
his own show on Sunday's here on Fox Sports Radier,
leading you up into uh Fox NFL Fox NFL Sunday's

a more confident car buying experience. UM, alright, so look,
we saw Donald, we saw Rosen. I watched that game intently,
and though there wasn't nearly at stake what people thought,
actually there was actually a lot at stake. I mean, look,
USC had cleansed their division, they were going to the

(01:09:54):
Pack twelve championship, but now they have an outside shot
of creeping back in to the College Football Playoff, so
that was still at stake for them. And of course
Jim Mora did in fact lose his job, and maybe
he keeps his job if they win that game. So
I guess there was more at stake than maybe, uh,

(01:10:14):
we give, we give, we give credit, but really it
was a chance to see the two top prospect quarterbacks
facing off against one another on the same field. Donald
seventeen twenty two sixty four no touchdowns, one interception, Josh
Rosen thirty five thirty two of fifty two, four one

(01:10:35):
yards three TVs one interception, but his team loses, which
is kind of the there in lies the rub. I
know USC has more talent than U. C. L A.
But this is kind of always the case. Rosen looks
the part, acts the part, throws the part like he
looks everything. He looks like you like, check check check

(01:10:58):
check check. But in all candor Sam Donald finds a
way to win. Now, Donald screwed up end of the
first half. You guys see that end of the first half.
He would scrambled around, clock was running down and um uh,

(01:11:18):
he actually held onto the ball too long instead of
running out of bounds or sliding and stopping the clock.
And they never got an extra field goal more points
that could have heard him. It was fourteen to seven
a half should have been at minimum seventeen to seven
at the half for USC. And those are things that
in his second year as the starter, he's got to know.

(01:11:40):
But that's everything you need to know about Rosen and Donald.
You saw and by the way, the issues with Josh
Rosen off the field. Some are they think he's arrogant,
he knows everything a little like he's aloof because he
loved football. There's some other stuff um as opposed to Donald,

(01:12:00):
who everybody just loves and finds ways to win. Right,
Like we can point out the numbers for Donald in
terms of the interceptions aren't great, right, but second half
of the season he's cut way down on the interceptions.
And oh yeah, by the way, they have two losses
on the year, and one of those losses that Washington State.

(01:12:22):
They had backups at offensive line. They still were driving
deep in Wazoo territory when he fumbled because his lined
in block form. Like if you go based upon checking
boxes as to what a pro quarterback looks like, I
think you go with Rosen. I don't think you you
even look back. But there's gotta be a reason other

(01:12:42):
than he plays for USC that Donald finds a way
to win even if he's not the prototype quarterback. And
I guess this, This is what tells me, boy, I mean,
how bad must this off the field stuff be? How
bad must the leadership be for people to even be
contemplating Arnold is the equal of in some ways better

(01:13:02):
than Rosen. But that's what everybody says, and that's all
you need to know. Shannon Sharps things. Shannon Sharp things
that the Jaguars and the Broncos could be Super Bowl
contenders with one small change. I'll tell you what that is. Next.

play a little, a little game we play every day
in the Doug Gotlip Show. Unbelievable list of shows you

(01:13:43):
can hear on Fox Sports Radio, whether it's Stressed to Radio,
Sirius Sex Sam where we also play some Fox Sports
One shows like Undisputed, Shannon Sharp Show with Skip Bayliss
and Joy Taylor. That's where we play earlier today. Uh,
Shannon had this to say in terms of what if

(01:14:04):
scenarios in the NFL. If Kirk Cousins was in Jacksonville
or Denver, they would be a serious, serious Super Bowl contended. Okay,
I mean if Tom Brady was in Denver, they would
be a Like I don't. But the the easier one

(01:14:27):
to me with the Jaguars is Eli with Eli Manning,
was that could that trade have been made before the
trade deadline? Right? You had Tom Coughlin running Jacksonville. You
have Eli Manning who they've talked about pulling him, um
to end his consecutive start streaks to see if Davis
Webb can play. So I think that would have been

(01:14:48):
an easier one. It's like, okay, Kirk Cousins, like, I don't,
I don't even notice that how that comes up. And
by the way, Denver has problems at quarterback, but they
had problems at offensive coordinator and they got problem an
offensive line too. They've got major, major problems. And though
those problems existed last year, there are other problems that
existed last year as well. So um, you know, look,

(01:15:14):
I am fully aware that the Broncos are a quarterback
away and the Jaguars are a quarterback away, but throwing
Kirk Cousins out there just say their quarterback play stinks
and they're winning in spite of and not because of
a Blake Bortles and having and the quarterback. It's amazing
that John Elway, a great quarterback, can't seem to figure
out the quarterback position in Denver. On the same show,

(01:15:39):
Skip Bayliss had this to say, the New England Pages
are clearly the best team because they have far and
away the best quarterback in the National Football League. And
guess what, he's only forty years old. He's still got
like five more great years left. He looks amazing. I mean,
he really looked amazing lesson um and I think he's

(01:15:59):
pretty accurate because Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback, but
he's not healthy. Ben Roethlisberger appears to have age. Like
everybody else who is a notch below has either been
hurt or is having is not surrounded by a good
team or I mean, like, tell me who else is there?
I mean Drew Brees finally looked like Drew Brees. Uh.

(01:16:21):
I don't think he's far off. I don't um like
if you think Russell Wilson is a slight notch blow
And we're gonna talk about the next hour. That's fine,
but then you also have to realize that there they
have no legion of boom anymore, and their offensive line
is kind of a joke. If you want to say

(01:16:43):
that Aaron Rodgers or Aaron Rodgers is hurt. If you
want to say Drew Brees, maybe um and Breeze's defense
is better this year in his running game if anything.
Breeze himself hasn't been asked to maybe nor nor is
he capable of being the Breeze of the past. And
then Ben Roethlisberger, who has a ton of talent around him,
there better when he throws it less. So I don't

(01:17:03):
think that's unreasonable. I don't think that's an unreasonable statement.
I mean, I think probably Philadelphia is better all around.
But Brady's ability to be a surgeon to use all
of that data, He's he's uh Peyton Manning late in
his career, without the armed, without the arm troubles. There's

(01:17:25):
a continuum for a quarterback, right, Yeah, you have talent,
the armed talent and athleticism early in your career, and
you have the football like you that you gain as
your career goes on. And some guys start out further
kind of down that road, and you have to have
both to be successful. But if you're gonna fault, your
fault on the side of football, like you as opposed

(01:17:46):
to Matt Stafford, pure armed talent, right. But one problem
is there does come a point to which you get
to the end of the continuum where it swings so
much to the football. You're like Peyton Manning in his
last year where he couldn't throw of football. Brady's not there.
So yeah, I actually in this case, I think I
agree with Skip Bayliss, and I think it's important to

(01:18:08):
point out that the defense, though it surrenders a bunch
of yards, doesn't surrender a bunch of points. They're dead
middle of the pack in terms of points allowed. And
that's important. Your yards don't matter, they don't points matter.
That's the most important defenses to distance. Uh. I want

(01:18:30):
to talk about Seattle with Cam Chancer out, Richard Sherman
out what it means for their future. Man, what a
crazy year? Right, No, Andrew Luck, No, I mean I
don't have to go through the injuries, but the the
litany of injuries are crazy. Hey, did you guys see
what happened with that? When was that Warrior Sixers game
was that Saturday night, Friday night or Saturday Saturday Saturday Night.

(01:18:54):
They're down twenty in the first half and they outscore
the uh The outscored the seventies sixty seven fifteen in
the third quarter forty seven. Like that's nuts, absolutely nuts.
People are questioning Lonzo balls toughness because it didn't come

(01:19:16):
to the aid of a teammate, he said, And an
NBA players don't fight. Nobody's gonna throw any punches. That's
a you're just kind of looking for things. But I
will say that I don't think that that a Lonzo
balls a dog, and I think he needs a little
bit more of that in him. But really, what is
stepping in the way of harm for a teammate and

(01:19:36):
not grabbing, just walking on the bench, what exactly does
that prove? I'm actually on team a Lonzo to be
good Rose and versus Donald. We'll ask Daniel Jeremiah about
that next hour, right, and um, I'm also gonna ask
him about the Chargers this year. I don't know what

(01:19:57):
to make I actually think could they still make the playoffs?
It looked good yesterday? And how do you go back
to Nate Peterman after what he did. Plus we'll talk
Cowboys and tonight Falcons Seahawks. Speaking of the Seahawks, are
they done? I mean done done? Find out next to
the Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. What open she

(01:20:17):
d got leave show? Fox Sports Radio? Do do Do
Do Do do? Do? Uh? Crazy weekend? Right, it didn't
give us a did we have anything in college football?
I guess it's kind of a build up to Alabama Mercer.
That was a blowout. Clemson, No, Miami was down early,

(01:20:38):
but Virginia remember they were Virginia. Oh you The most
interesting there thing was Baker Mayfield grabbing his junk. He
won't start against West Virginia. UM. Notre Dame lost to Navy.
The Naval Academy sunk Notre Dame. Oh yeah, I went there.
Not even That's that's one of those ones, like really like, yeah,
you stopped paying attention to Notre Dame once they lost

(01:20:59):
to Miami. UM Ohio State one, Penn State put up
fifty six on Nebraska fifty six s c U c
l A. We'll talk about with Daniel Jeremiah, but kind
of a I mean my Alwa matter lost to Kansas State.
That has tency to happen more times than they probably
should and Notre Dame lost. Outside of that, I mean,

(01:21:25):
not a lot of blood, but it does build up
to what could be what could be a great final weekend. Now,
look this weekend in college football. You got the Iron Bowl. Um,
you have Clemson versus South Carolina. Like, you got some
pretty good stuff there because everybody's waiting on Clemson Miami.

(01:21:47):
But Clemson could lose to South Carolina, Auburn beats Georgia,
and then if Alurn beats Alabama, then what right? What
do you do with Alabama number one most of the season,
with the exception of a couple of weeks in the
in the College Football Playoff Poll, they lose one game?
Are they out of the playoff? Especially when you have

(01:22:11):
a possible two loss Ohio State team moved it up in.
Uh wasn't terribly impressed with Wisconsin. I think they're good.
I think they're very well coached. On special teams they have,
they have a good solid defense for the Big Ten.
In terms of Big Ten, they're built for a Big
Ten style. Good offensive line but not great. Decent quarterback
play but not great. All right, boy, they benefit from

(01:22:35):
a soft schedule really benefit from um you know, uh,
Jason Kidd had this happened to him. Where you get
old in a hurry, you get old in a hurry.
I was, I was in l a X earlier today.
I don't don't think I told you guys this. So look,
I played obviously a U basketball back when it's travel basketball,

(01:22:56):
and we had we had players from all over southern California.
And I was walking through the airport going to get
my car and a guy stopped me and he's like,
you remember me. I was like, I think I remember
playing bastball with you. My man Tavio stopped me. Tavio
works in security, one of these Um there's a new company,
Ramos that does it's not There's there's the fast Security

(01:23:23):
line what's that called where you yeah, where you can
pre check right. But then there's another company that does
like its own kind of thing at I think at
Delta Terminals and anyway, he was running that that company.
And then I called the cup my buddies who we
played with this is like in seventh grade, and I

(01:23:44):
called him like, you're not gonna believe if I ran
into it. L a X my boy, our boy Tavio,
and so Tabio is there and he looked like, I mean, look,
it's been like, I don't know, thirty years, thirty probably
thirty years since I've seen him. So that's not getting
out old in a hurry. But some people do. Some people,
like your kid will go away to summer camp and
they come back. You're like, it's a different human being

(01:24:07):
your parents. I remember my dad got sick and my
dad always had a head of black hair. And when
he got cancer, even before, even before really when he
first started treatment, interferen on treatment, before he started really
hardcore chemo, like his hair went white in a hurry,
and all of a sudden he looked ten years older.
Like age happens in a heartbeat. Remember Jason Kidd his

(01:24:30):
last season in the NBA, he was decent. Then he
got to the playoffs, he couldn't make a layup. That's
basically what's happened to the Seattle Seahawks. I know these
are injuries, and so it's not Richard Sherman is not
that much slower than he used to be. Cam chancer

(01:24:52):
isn't that much slower. But you are more likely to
get hurt the older you are in the NFL and end. Uh,
those injuries take longer to come back from. I mean
the injury report is Cam Chancellor out, Michael Wilhoyt out,
Dwayne Brown of course they acquired is questionable. That's that's

(01:25:15):
more of the offensive side. And Richard Sherman is out
for the season. They've already lost pieces of their defense
over the years because you couldn't pay. You couldn't pay
everybody like that happens. They had to pick certain spots
to keep and certain spots, certain spots to pay, and
certain spots they had to let go. And remember a

(01:25:36):
couple of years ago when Cam Chancers sat the first
four games of the year because of a contract dispute.
Their team was, their defense was terrible. Like we talked
about this with the Cowboys, what is your team built around?
The Cowboys were built around their ability to run the
football and their offensive line. Defensively, they're built really around
Shaun Lee, his intelligence and his ability to stop the run.

(01:25:58):
The Seahawks were built Russell Wilson making plays on third
down with his legs, with his arm, and defensively, Cam Chancellor,
Richard Sherman, Bobby Wagner leading to boom but once you
get to this point to where you're already a little
bit old, you're already a little bit over, a little
bit overpaid, and now you're oft injured. I mean, look

(01:26:23):
at the litany of injuries. Michael Bennett's hurt, Cam Chancellor
with the neck out. Earl Thomas is that a ham
has had a hamstring issue and did have full practice,
but has had a hamstring issue. Shaq Griffin has been
hurt with his shoulder. He's not even old. I when

(01:26:46):
you start to kind of go through it and I
I think I'm willing to call it. I think I'm
willing to call that the injuries that in many ways
are brought on by two things, the NFL and just
how hard you hit dudes and age age experience. You know,
Cam Chancers twenty nine years old, he's been the league

(01:27:08):
eight years. He's a tremendous player. Remember he signed the
contract extension multi extension on August one. So they're they're
all in on Cam Chancellor there. They tried to get
rid of Richard Sherman and now these guys are injured
and they have issues with their offensive line. I just
don't see it anymore. Are you are you willing to

(01:27:29):
call it ramos? Are you willing to call it music?
Are you willing to call it buyer? Buyers? The Seahawks fan,
I should let him speak on this first, Like is
it crazy to go like the Legion of Boom? Probably done.
I don't think that it's crazy, and I felt Richard
Sherman has played through injuries for the last two seasons,
so it was a matter of time before you would
actually miss a game. I I do think that they

(01:27:52):
are a team that now has an offense if Dwayne
Brown is healthy, that can score against anyone, but their
time of dominance is over with. I would say that
they're a playoff team, but a favorite. I don't think so. Yeah. Now, look,
the point you might that might be back it up
is like, look, if you don't like Seattle because of
injuries this year, that's fair, But Russell Wilson's always going

(01:28:15):
to give him a chance, and they should have these
guys back. My problem is, like Richard Sherman, who has
played his best football earlier in his career, well you
come back. He wasn't as good as he used to
be and now achilles tendon tear. The likely you come
back as the same same guy in your thirties is
very very slim, especially at that position. Yeah, and he's

(01:28:36):
got one year left on his contract and he's under
contract Throen, So do you then commit more money to
him after with everything that you just said, that's a
really big question for Seattle. Yeah. And you know, if
they replace him with with draft picks the way that
Carolina did, you can expect the type of year in
which your need to have those guys grow like you
had in Carolina. What they have done the Seahawks to

(01:29:00):
their strategies of drafting, they have drafted defensive lineman and
that is really the secret. That's actually what made the
Legion of Boom the Legion of Boom, because when you
get pressed around the quarterback, yeah, and you've got you've
got the the the cornerback that is the size of
a wide receiver, and a safety that plays like a
linebacker like Cam Chance. So there's so many mismatches and

(01:29:21):
then when you have pressure on the quarterback, those guys
can dominate their spots. So when you see what Seattle
is done up front, they've tried to replenish upfront. But
to your point, there is no era apparent on the
back end. So when you say the legion of boom
Is is likely done, I think it's a very fair assessment.
I don't think the Seats are done as a team,
but that back end of the second area think has

(01:29:42):
some serious questions going forward. And I would say this,
I think the team that actually more mirrors what Seattle
was is the Minnesota Vikings. The differences. The Vikings right
now have a backup as they're starting quarterback, and no
one knows how no one, no really knows how good
Teddy Bridgewater is going to be any ay or how
good he's going to be when he's back healthy coming

(01:30:03):
off that catastrophic knee injury. And they're doing without Dalvin
cook who looked great. But you'd assume Dalvin cook um
with a year to rehab, the a c L should
be okay. Lots of running backs have suffered that that
type of a c L. But if you look at
defenses in terms of how they fly to the ball,
how they can physically dominate you, the we're talking about Seattle,

(01:30:24):
Seattle is what was. What is the Minnesota Vikings. That's
a team that could win or compete for a championship.
So uh, solely based upon the defense more so than
anything the offense does. Yeah, the Seahawks did it for
five years as well. When when when Russell Wilson's rookie
season was really when they made a run and you thought,
oh boy. Then they won the Super Bowl the next year,

(01:30:44):
then lost it to the New England Patriots, but it's
that year before they wanted that you kind of forget
that this was a really, really, really good defense. So
when you think of their run, Doug, it may not
seem as long that it actually was. But it was
a good five or six years. And I'm even including
parts of this season where you're thinking, wow, this is

(01:31:04):
one of the better defenses that you've seen. And then
when you add that all up together, there's no way
it can go seven or eight years. It's just not
it's not. The league isn't building league. League is built
to to even you out and that you have to
uh and like, look, the Patriots have been able to
do it with that with a shoddy defense this year, Um,
we've given up a bunch of yards and like to

(01:31:25):
your to your point, Seattle is is only six in
the league, six in the league in points given up,
so even now, part of it they're helped by the
fact that Arizona is not good. San Francisco is not good,
and they play these teams, Uh, they play that. That's
four of their games this year. But part of it
is they still are pretty good defensively, and they still
turn you over, pressure the quarterback and still have some talent.

(01:31:48):
I just think at this point they're injured at at
their most important positions, and those injuries are ones to
which even when you come back from your in your
thirties and you're not going to be the same player.
And Earl Thomas is now miss parts of two seasons
back tonight against Atlanta, but had the hamstring that cost
him a couple of games, and of course missed last year.
And yeah, there there are issues. That points per game

(01:32:11):
stat is one that they've dominated over the NFL over
the last five years. So even a drop from one
or two down to sixth is somewhat noticeable with that
defense for how good it has been, great stuff. Dan
dan Buyer joined us Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio.
Daniel Jeremiah from the NFL Network joins the show. Up
coming next I'll get his thoughts on the Chiefs what
the heck happened? Best team in the NFL to a
team that suddenly has no offense? Plus Donald versus Rosen?

Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. He joins us every week.

(01:32:57):
He's got Incredible Inside. He watches a ton a ton
of film on both the National Football again College Football.
He and Bucky Brooks have an outstanding podcast. He is
Daniel Jeremiah the NFL Network. He joins us now on
the Doug Dot Leeb Show. And uh, let's start with
Saturday Night Rosen Donald at the Coliseum. Um, I guess

(01:33:18):
the question is what are we missing? Right? Like? When
you watch Rosen looks like an NFL quarterback. Donald looks
like a great college quarterback, but he doesn't fit the
kind of classic stereotype mold of what an NFL quarterback is,
but they're still being discussed as like one and two.
What is it about Rosen that because I don't know.

(01:33:40):
On the field didn't look close, did it. But I
was at the game, Doug, And if you're just taken
for one day just watching how the guys played in
that game, Yeah, I mean Rosen had had a better night,
no question. I think it comes down a little bit
kind of what you're looking for, you know. Yeah. The
thing with the thing with Rosen that you saw that
you loved is he's just he's the best or thrower, um,

(01:34:01):
no question in the country. He's tough, he hung in there,
took some big shots, but he can't he can't get
out of any trouble. So when you look at somebody
having to get off your spot, um, somebody have to
make things happen and create, that's not who he is.
So if you're looking, if you're looking for the pure
drop back guy, which it's that's always been. The line

(01:34:22):
has been okay, well, that's the NFL guy. And then
you look at Donald and say, okay, man, he was
better when he was off script. But recently, and we've
seen over the last you know, ten years. I mean
that there's a very few Tom Brady's left anymore. You
gotta have a guy that can move around a little bit.
So that's why you see some of the knocks on Rosen.
But you just watch guys throw the football, especially just

(01:34:44):
on on one evening, haven't been there. Yeah, I mean
Donald threw it a whole I mean, Rosen through it
a lot better than Donald did on on one night.
How bad must the off the field stuff be? Uh,
in order to do that? That also is a big factory.
Didn't like. I just heard everybody loves Donald and it's
very mixed on Rosen. Yeah, I mean, like, look, he
talked to talk to a buddy. There's a bunch of

(01:35:05):
scouting buddies at the game. I talked to one of
them afterwards and he said, you know, this is this
kind of what this is exactly what you'd expect. You
leave saying, wow, you know, Rosen's an unbelievable talent, and uh,
he leaves with a loss, and you talk about all
the things Donald can't do, except when you have to
make plays, he makes them and he finds a way
to win the game. So you've got some of the
personality things that teams will sort through. Um, but I mean, look,

(01:35:28):
this was This was the best I've seen Josh play
all year. You know, you gotta go back and watch him.
They lose the Memphis and he's throwing interceptions and and
making some poor decisions. So um, that was I mean, look,
that was that. If you want to make a closing argument, Um,
as an individual talent, he made a heck of a one.
But I'm not ready to throw throw Sam Donald out
just yet. Doug Gottlip show here on Fox Sports Trader.

(01:35:50):
That's the voice of Daniel Jeremiah. All right, let's get
to the NFL. Seahawks lose Cam Chancellor already have no
Richard Sherman. Um offensive line has been problematic all year. Anyway,
Are you willing to declare the legion of doom dead? Yeah,
I mean you talk about just the secondary, Yeah, I
mean they've got some some other young pieces that I

(01:36:11):
like that are good players. Check Griffin, who they drafted
is a good player, but he's not Richard Sherman. And
I don't think you can replace what Cam does, and
and especially just from a tone setting, um standpoint, you know,
just being a physical presence, being an emotional leader that
matters big time. So and Earl Earl is is still

(01:36:32):
super He's a super talented dude, but he's not what
he was a few years ago. So you've got Earl
Thomas who wasn't what he was a few years ago.
You don't have Richard Sherman, you don't have Cam Chancellor.
So yeah, you just talking specifically about the secondary of
the legion of Boom. Yeah, it's it's it's no longer. Uh.
Saints have completely turned their season around. Now. They did
have to go kind of old school Saints and throw

(01:36:54):
the football in order to win that thing in overtime.
Are you a buyer into the Saints. I'll tell you what.
I think that this year, more so than any of
the year that I can remember. Um really in the NFC,
I think home field advantage is everything. I mean, could
you tell me right now, we we line up, the
Saints go to Philadelphia and Drew Breeze has to go

(01:37:14):
play outside in cold weather and some of his limitations
arm strength wise will be will be heightened in a
big way. And I think you get the you know,
in the trenches. I think the Saints are good. I
think the Eagles are better, But you get that game
inside the Dome and it becomes a track meet and
Drew Breeze gets hot. You know, I think I might
lean towards the Saints. So it's gonna be a very

(01:37:35):
very important race for home field advantage in the NFC.
I feel like the Vikings are now defensively a little
bit what the Seahawks were. Is that? Is that too
much hype on that Vikings defense? Now they're fast, man,
I mean they are fast that all three levels. They've
got some special players. Um, you know, I don't think
that there. I mean their secondary Harrison Smith Is is awesome,

(01:37:57):
Xavier Roads went healthy is as good as it gets.
I just thought when the Seahawks were at their peak,
there was no I mean, they were good all the
way around. I don't know that they're quite at that level,
but I think their front is is every bit as good.
Everything is a freak show. What happened to the Chief's offense?
You know, it's kind of playing playing Uh, you know,

(01:38:20):
I would say just that specific game, cold weather outside.
We've talked about this for years, you know, we always
talked about going the postseason. That's when you know size
and arm strength, matters a little bit because the weather
gets bad and the windows gets small. And I thought
you saw against a motivated secondary for the Giants and
some some inclement weather. Alex Smith just kind of looks ordinary.

(01:38:42):
But I also thought creativity is a good thing as
a play caller, being cute is not. And I thought
the Chiefs have kind of drifted, you know, a little
bit past the line from creative to trying to be
too cute. I kind of tend to tend to agree,
but maybe they're too cute because they just can't line
up and ask you, right. They gotta mask it a
little bit. Yeah, they gotta kind of hide who they are.

(01:39:05):
How the Patriots turn this thing around? Because defensively, now
they're not allowing that many points, but it's still a
ton of yards, and yet the offense is way more
efficient than it was. What are they doing differently? Yeah,
I mean it's it's funny. It's just that it seems
like they've been doing this forever defensively, and then it's
a it's a math game. They trade. They trade threes

(01:39:26):
for sevens. You can move the ball up and down
the field between the twenties all you want. They're gonna
buckle down and they're gonna force you to kick threes.
And it doesn't matter if you know, you get them
in third and eight, third and nine down in the
red zone, or you know, twelve just makes it play
and they turn threes into sevens. It's just it's it's
what they've done for a very very long time. Situationally,
third downs. They're great offensively with Brady red zone, they're

(01:39:49):
always really good defensively. So it just becomes a mass game.
You watch the the yardage totals usually are not that
far off between the teams, but the one team can convert,
another team can't. Yeah, look I look at it, and
I actually think there's a little bit of basketball to it.
You know, you mentioned sevens versus threes. Uh, they allow
a ton of yards. But part of that is the

(01:40:10):
style of offense in which they're playing right there, playing
which which and their defense has a little bit of
what the Saints had when they won the championship, right
where you get turnovers more so than then worried about
getting stops. You know, if you get if you get
turnovers now a sudden, you get multiple possessions, multiple and
they do a great job of flipping the score right
before the half, as I thought Romo didn't didn't. Actually,

(01:40:33):
Nance did an excellent job of pointing out nobody scores
more points in the last two minutes of the first half.
They can get molt, they can get the ball and
score multiple possessions right before the half. It's it's kind
of genius on how they figured they figured it out,
and obviously it helps me. You have Brady and some
of their other weapon ring Doug Gotlip show, Fox Sports Radio,
Daniel Jeremiah is our guest. Uh, let's go back to

(01:40:53):
the to the college game for a second. Uh, Baker Mayfield,
does this in your mind? You've been in draft room before,
not just doing it for the NFL network, but for
the Baltimore Ravens. Does this make you not want to
draft him? No? But you know, look, I got a
text from a buddy in the league that said, because
I was at I was going to the sc game
and I did not uh S the U c l

(01:41:14):
A game, so I did not see it live when
it happened. And I got a text from a buddy
with a team that said, oh, he was like, oh no, Baker,
you know, like, don't don't do that. You need to
distance yourself as far as you possibly can from from Mandell.
Stop acting like him. So that's the text I get,
and I'm like, I have no idea what happened, So
then I see it, then you see it afterwards, like okay, yeah,

(01:41:36):
I mean that's if you're Baker Mayfield. Like if I
was an agent and I was sitting down with Baker
Mayfield he was my client, I would say, look, there's
thirty two teams and they have to make a decision
on you. And the decision is this is this Johnny
Manziel or is this Russell Wilson. So every decision that

(01:41:56):
you make is going to reinforce that opinion. It's up
to you because it's I can sell Russell Wilson in
the draft room even though you're short, um, even though
you know you run around. I can still try and
sell you with Russell Wilson. If you keep giving more
ammunition to the guy that wants to compare you to
Johnny Manziel, that's a tough fight. Yeah, I think, And

(01:42:16):
that's exactly what I kind of said a little bit.
What I said that the two comparisons I made earlier,
the only off the field thing is the Arkansas deal,
where like he was drinking at a party in Arkansas.
Wasn't like he was robbing a liquor store, right, and
it wasn't you know, But but it's the immature he
dug that. That to me, it's like not the incident itself,

(01:42:36):
it's kind of what it represents. And I'm just telling
you what it'll be like in the room now. I
don't know. Yeah, I talked with an NFL GM. It
will come up. I talk with the NFL GM about
the same thing. He said, Hey, can you do you
know about Baker Mayfield. I reached out to some Oklahoma
and people and they were like, look, what you see
is what you get. Like he plays with a with
a with a chip on his shoulder. But the guys,

(01:42:57):
you know, unlike the Manzel act where people saw through
it and thought it was all about him, these guys
love him, right, I mean they absolutely And that's what Look.
I think he's the perfect backup. I think he's like
I think he's case Keenum right where where you know
he's pissed at the world for being small, for being
a walk on, for being underdrafted, for people taking shots

(01:43:19):
at whatever. That's the guy you want as the backup,
Probably not the starter, but as a backup. It it might,
it might more readily readily work. Um, can Buffalo go
back to Nate Peterman after that? Deal? Man? I used
the word last week, which is bizarre. You know when
when they made the switch, and you know, look, if

(01:43:41):
people ask me why did they make the movie said obviously,
you know, Tyrod was tackling well enough, and you know
was the big reason why they're getting the ball jam
down our throats. Um, it was just kind of a
it was a weird It was a weird time to
do that. Um. You know, I I get trying to
balance winning right now versus thinking long term and Tyrod
not going to be your long term guy. I get that,

(01:44:01):
But this is a team I don't think they've been
to the playoffs since longest, longest streak in the NFL.
You're sitting there at five and four in the a
s C. Outside the Patriots and the Steelers is so blah.
You've got a chance to to to end that streaking.
That's huge, Man, That just kind of minum. I don't
care if you sneak in and get blown out. Just

(01:44:23):
in that streak getting the playoffs, and here with Tyrode,
I think he was by far your best option to
try and get to nine and seven and sneak in
the back door of the playoffs and to hand the
keys of the car over to a rookie who clearly
you know it seems already. Um, not only do you
kind of you almost risk throwing away this season, you're
risks throwing away the development of a young guy. I

(01:44:44):
wasn't ready to go out there. Yeah that to talk
about the all time backfires, that's what you have, yah, yeah,
mask it was. The Charges were great. I mean they
were Keenan Allen looks better. Uh you know, I think
they're the the best team with a bad record in
the NFL. That's kind of classic Chargers here. Maybe maybe
this maybe the short week in the banged up and

(01:45:06):
last thing on the on the Cowboys, Um Dad continues
to look very average without Zeke and obviously without Tyrone Smith.
Is this who he really is? And all the other
talent has massed it? Well? You know, I've I've used
this analogy before. Me and Bucky talked about this on
the podcast all the time. I just kind of came
up with the thought that you have quarterbacks, they're either

(01:45:28):
trucks or their trailers. When you look at starters and um,
they can both get you to the finish line. It's
just the trucks are pulling everybody else behind them, whereas
the trailer is getting pulled. And I think watching that
last few weeks, we've kind of seen Okay, Doc, you
can win with da no question, but I think he's
more of a trailer than a truck. I like that.
Trucks and trailers and who doesn't like what kid doesn't

(01:45:49):
like playing with cars and trucks and trailers. Right, and
then when you go although on scouting, Doug, we always
say about you know, receivers that can't catch. We always
say they play with trucks as the kids at the ball.
I like that one. I did not know that one.
Thanks so much, DJ. All right, Danna Jeremiah joining us. Uh.

are great. Some still even have some of the the
paint on the side. Also had some dukes of hazards,

(01:46:33):
uh dukes of hazard matchbox cars as well to go
with it. So yeah, for sure was that matchbox cars
kid for sure. Falcons and Seahawks tonight wrapping up Week
love It in the NFL, looking ahead to Week twelve
and for the Steelers weeks fourteen and fifteen, they're gonna
be without the right tackle Marcus Gilbert, just spending four
games today for violent violating the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy.

(01:46:54):
Bears released kicker Connor Barth and signed Cairo Santos. While
the Broncos are making a change. They fired offensive coordinator
Mike McCoy today, replacing him with quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave
rock head. Three starts now and the same problems have occurred,
you know, so I thought at this moment fire football
to moving forward, that a change was needed. You know,

(01:47:15):
from going from Mike to uh Bill Musgrave that was
Bronco's head coach, Van's Joseph Denver has lost their last six.
Former NFL and Ohio state wide receiver Terry Glenn was
killed in a car accident earlier this morning near Dallas.
His fiance was a passenger in the vehicle, and she
was slightly injured in the crash. Glenn played six seasons
with the Patriots, another five in Dallas and one with

(01:47:36):
Green Bay. Terry Glenn was forty three years old. Oklahoma
quarterback Baker Mayfield once start the team's game Saturday against
West Virginia and won't served as a team captain for
the game. Head coach Lincoln Raley announced the punishment today
following Mayfield's crotch grabbing antics during Saturday's win against Kansas
College Hub's doug in Maui. First half just utter seven
minutes to gokal leads number six, which daw State thirty

(01:47:57):

which to seems to have bounce back some. But Calvin,

which look their preseason top ten. I think I think

(01:48:17):
they're good. I think they'll compete to get to the
week sixteen to lead eight. It'll be interesting because remember
this year they're playing in the American Athletic Company. That
means you're playing you're playing against Yukon and Cincinnati. To
Lane has been a surprise so far this year. SMU
has some has some talent as well. Um so it'll

(01:48:38):
be fascinating to see how they play against better competition.
They're playing against in the Missouri Valley and they still
play a very difficult out of conference schedule, not just Maui,
but anyway, Arch Madness will never be the same now
with Craton out of the Missouri Valley and now Wichita
State moving out, and before that, you know, Tulsa used
to be in it. Sat Louis used to be in it.
I mean it's once you added Loyola and you lost Craton,

(01:49:00):
you had Loyola like you know, uh, Drake's not what
it once was or maybe has never actually been. Northern
I was still very you know, very good, very respectable.
You may get a Bradley or Illinois State, Missouri state,
which used to be southwest Missouri State. I just don't
understand how they're Missouri state by the way, all of
a sudden. Have you guys ever seen Multiplicity? Michael Keaton.

(01:49:22):
Michael Keaton. When I mentioned Multiplicity to Ryan Music, he
was like, I don't know even know your doesn't now
Dan Buyer doesn't like movies. Buyer, have you seen Multiplicity?
Are you aware of the movie? Um? I know the name,
but I don't know the premise. Okay, the premises Michael Keaton, Uh,
successful dude, got wife, kids, whatever. He just wants to

(01:49:43):
spend He just wants to be back to being him right,
like midlife crisis. I want to be more in tune
with my wife. I want to have more time to
play golf, to hang out. But the day to day
is killing me. And so he gets cloned right, and
his clone does every little thing that he wishes he

(01:50:04):
had time to do, like I. Actually the clone dresses better, like,
is completely efficient with everything, is friendly, just does everything
with a smile like I don't know. And then he
ends up getting cloned again for work around the house,
and that clone is more like neandrethal um Neandrethal mail

(01:50:28):
right and then he comes home one day only to
see there's number four. Now number four is not a
pure clone of Michael Keaton's character Doug. My number four
is a is a copy of a copy. Now again,

(01:50:49):
this is if you're under thirty years old, you don't
know about a copy of a copy because you never
had a VHS tape. But a copy of a copy
of a VHS tape would always have tracking issues. Tracking issues. Man,
I have to explain this, tracking issues like a white
fuzzy line that would go across the screen, and the

(01:51:09):
whoever the youngest one, the little brother would have to
go and adjust the tracking thing. But a copy of
a copy, he almost never got a real clear movie.
The same thing with an audio cassette. You make a
copy of a copy of the audio cassette. It wasn't clear,
it didn't sound that good. And the copy of the
copy for in Multiplicity was like shaving his tongue, bouncing

(01:51:34):
on the bed. Right, that's what Brett Hunley looks like
when he plays for the Green Bay Packers. Like are
you could say Aaron Rodgers is like a copy like his.
He's a different version of a Brett Farve huge arm
mobile back there, runs around, makes plays. He turns the

(01:51:56):
ball over a whole lot less than Brett Farve. Like
in many ways, he's like the multiplicity it runs around,
makes plays, totally efficient, wins um. He's he seems to
have his stuff off the field, like he doesn't have
remember far had to go to rehab Like, No that
with Aaron Rodgers. No, the biggest off the field issue
with Aaron Rodgers is who's he dating? Right that That's

(01:52:17):
the biggest issue. Bret Hunley is like a copy of
a copy. They have Bret Hunley trying to play like
Aaron Rodgers and instead of trying to play like Brett Huntley,
and it is a bad look like they're playing at
home against the Baltimore Ravens and this is not a
classic Baltimore Ravens team. And he could do nothing. He's
essentially shaving his tongue and calling everybody Steve, I get

(01:52:40):
to the press. I'm coming next. The dever Broncos season
has gone downhill fast. One player is taking it to heart.
I'll tell you who next. What true car? You can
find out what other people in your area paid for
the same car you're looking for, new or used. Visit
True Car to enjoy more confident car buying experience. Doug
otlib Show, Fox Boards Radio. Uh saw Wonder on Friday? Ramos,

(01:53:03):
Have you seen yet so Julia Roberts movie? Right. Yes,
it's about the little kid who's had like twenty seven surgeries.
But it's a very good book. My daughters had to
read it for school. They really liked the book and
the movie was, Uh your you might you might well
up a little bit. You might cry a little bit.
I might cry a little bit. One respect. I would
go see it. We're gonna go see Coco, which I

(01:53:24):
think opens on Thanksgiving. We'll see Coco this weekend. I'm
all about the kids movies. Um yeah, I did popcorn.
I still do a water just because my wife got
a Mr. Pib on her and I don't know if
I announced her birthday was? What was her? Her birthday
was Friday? Right? Did I tell you my daughter broke

(01:53:46):
her arm? Yes? You told us. So she gets the
cast tomorrow. What color cast should she get? I think
like a hot pinker, like a yellow right, like to
her orange like something bright right, I don't do like
the black cast. You want to be able to be
able to sign it. To sign it. That's correct, no question.
Let's get to the break the press. Dan Buyer's got

(01:54:09):
the press and any stories leading cram into the next
five minutes. I possible Dan when he got I'm not
saying that I feel better, but and I'm not saying
that you forgot your wife's birthday, because you obviously didn't.
You just couldn't remember what day. You forgot. Our entire
conversation last week about the Wisconsin student section not showing
up until eleven o'clock for that early Wisconsin Michigan games
on Twitter. You know you wanted to know why that

(01:54:30):
the they didn't why there was an empty section because
the students don't show up until the second quarter and
then when jump around happens, half of them go back
to drink. It's right, you did. Yes, I thought it
was like I thought it was like the band section,
but it was like, I mean, it was like there's
a couple of stragglers. There was no one in a
huge section of the stadium for the first quarter. Those

(01:54:51):
eleven o'clock kickoffs for the Wisconsin students are rough. But
I thought you were like, I like, I thought you
were kidding. No, that's yeah, that's why that one jump
around actually is over between the third and fourth. Then
they kind of start to leave. Someone'll stick around, you know,
not everybody leaves. But that's why big news at Denver
today fired offense coordinator Mike McCoy. The Broncos didn't replaced

(01:55:12):
him with quarterbacks coach Bill musk grave If here with
some of the explanation from Broncos said coach Vance Jose.
I want to have a more efficient pass game. You
have to have that. Our running game has been good,
but our passing game has not been good in my opinion,
you know, So that's why the change was ultimately made.
So Mike McCoy out, Bill musk Graven could have Paxton

(01:55:35):
Lynch in for Week twelve for the Broncos against the Raiders.
I think you got to see what he can do
if he's healthy. You got it. You know, you got
the seasons lost. If you can gain clarity on if
Paxton Lynch can play or not, then I think at
least something can be gleaned from the season. I thought
this piece of audio I'm Gonna Play was interesting and
it relates to the Broncos. Running back C. J. Anderson
spoke with a few reporters and this is from CBS

(01:55:56):
in Denver. This was after yesterday's lost, Doug. I don't
know if you heard this, but this was c J.
Anderson after losing a fourth quarter fumble as Denver lost
their sixth in a row. I didn't make the play,
you know, Pante has made the play on dude, you
know somebody asked to win and not just the window
of that play. C J. Mcmccoy came up to you

(01:56:18):
and a lot of playing wober his words Jesus saying
I've been playing my ass off. Oh here, don't let
that one play. You know. I didn't lose the game,
but I hear my I'm not feeling that. Oh dude,
that a J don't score, Who knows how the outcome
to Tarth. That's just just want me turns hurt. I

(01:56:47):
thought it was very interesting for a game that we
may not have paid attention to, to see a player
take a loss that hard in the NFL. Just uh.
I thought it was very interesting. Audio. I thought it
was great. Like I like guys who cry with that
like it's it's it's uh. I told my son we
lost that playoff baseball game. He didn't play very well.
He got a little nervous pitching. He couldn't throw strikes

(01:57:07):
and whenever he was and I just told him, just
throw strikes. So he was like throwing its lower, like, oh,
did you gotta throw your fastball? You'll just throw strikes
at your fast But I'm trying to be cute with it.
And he was crying afterwards. He's like, are you mad
at me? Because some cryings Like no, I get mad
when you cry in the middle of the game, you know,
or you throw a fit, Like a fit is different
than crying because you're sad because you lost. I want
you to want to win. And if you think you

(01:57:30):
could have played better and you're not blaming your teammates,
I'm okay with it. Next question. The Chicago Bears today
released kicker Connor Barth missed that game or could have
been green tying kick yesterday against the Lions, and signed
Cairo Santos in return spots. To say he missed it
is an understatement, right, like, oh my gosh, was that

(01:57:51):
one off? It wouldn't It wasn't like he hit the crossbar.
Who's the kicker for the Vikings? Like the Vikings, it
was war Bath right, Yeah, Cayle for Bath missed. He
missed one in the first half just to the right,
and the second Halvey it hit the crossbar on the
left hand side. Um And and look they were helped

(01:58:12):
out by a couple of fumble on you know, Cooper
Cup with the drop, Cooper Cup with a fumble right
at the goal line. But it's one thing to miss
it like hit a cross bar. Connor Barth missed by
at least thirty yards. I mean it was not close.
Being kickers hard, but I can't say I disagree with that. Look,

(01:58:34):
the Bears have been searching for a kicker all year.
Remember they picked up Aguayo who got cut by the
by the Buccaneers, and then they cut Aguayos, So they're
working on their like fourth or fifth kicker the year
they should sign Bath from You can't do that on television,
remember him? What do you thinks in the burgers? I
don't know. Cavaliers forward Channing Fry prefers Little Caesar's pizza

(01:58:57):
to a Domino's pizza, claims it it's too saucy. Of course,
this brought up because the Calves play the Pistons in
Detroit and the brand new Little Caesar's arena. He's trying
to get one of those cards. You know people got
those Chipotle cars, the Subway cards. He's trying to get
a pizza pizza card. Do they still Little Caesar's always
give you two pizzas when you order one? Now? Is
that still they still do that? I don't think so.
I think it's just the just the one. But they've

(01:59:18):
got them hot and ready for you for five bucks,
that's for sure. All right. We ordered Pizza Hut for
my my son and his buddy on Saturday night. Ready
to go. Finally, Doug, the Oregon men's basketball program got
a commitment from seven three Center Bowl Bowl. Yes, the
son of late NBA center Minute Bowling. He just left
Modern Day and he's at Finly Prep this year. Um talent.

(01:59:41):
Can shoot threes like his dad and can block shots
like his dad. Get out there and pressed that the press.
There's a Monday night football game tonight. I think it's
a huge game for Atlanta, right. I can't get any
better set up than a completely decimated by injuries Seattle
see Hawk team. And your season appears to be picking up,

(02:00:03):
but you're on the road in Seattle. I think Atlanta
wins the game, We'll check it out tomorrow on The
