Dan Beyer and Ephraim Salaam sit in for Doug Gottlieb and debate whether the NBA and it's fans should want a Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors IV for the 2018 NBA Championship. The guys also debate if James Harrison should be getting some the push back he has gotten for signing with the New England Patriots after being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Plus, is it a NCAA Bowl Game or a Bowling alley? Dan tries to stump Ephraim with names that could either be a bowling alley somewhere in the U.S. or a game during the College Bowl Season. Vice Sports' Michael Pina joins the show to give his opinion on the Cavaliers vs. Warriors debate and talk everything in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports and I from we are
getting closer and closer to the new year. Eighteen is
on the horizon, another full slate of bowl games. We're
gonna have fun with college football today. You can guarantee
that we're gonna have fun with everything. But we have
to start in the n b A because listen, if

(00:21):
I was to look at an NBA schedule and you
look at the eighty two games from every team, and
I had to take my sure bets the games that
I know we're going to end up in the outcome
that they would. I for surely would have taken the
Cleveland Cavaliers to beat the Sacramento Kings. I didn't care
if the game was in Sacramento. I would think that

(00:43):
even if the Cavaliers, coming off of a Christmas Day
lost to the Golden State Warriors, would even improve those chances.
And lo and behold, we start to get back into
the I guess, same old, same old with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Is maybe we had a year a go of the
Cavaliers just kind of cruising through the regular season of

(01:04):
the NBA. All the Cavaliers had had their way with
the Sacramento Kings to night. They turned things around after
a nightmare last night in Los Angeles, and your final
score find Sacramento victorious by fourteen at one o nine.
That's on the King's Radio Network. The Cavaliers lose on

(01:27):
the road to the Sacramento Kings by fourteen points. This,
this is inexcusable. When Vince Carter, the forty year old
Vince Carter goes off last night, has twenty points, twenty
four points in the game, becomes like the first forty
year old player to have at least twenty points off

(01:47):
the bench in NBA history. And the Cavaliers were beaten
by one of the worst offensive teams, if not the
worst offensive team in the entire NBA last night. This
is this is the same old Cleveland Cavaliers from and
it's another reason why we don't need to see the
Calves Warriors again in the NBA Finals. Well that's not true,

(02:09):
because what happens is when you you've heard the addage,
you played down our play up to your competition. Right.
So on Christmas Day we saw a of a war
between Golden State and Cleveland Cavaliers. Right, blowfal blow. It
was tight the whole game. No team ran off with
the lead, and then you come back and then you

(02:31):
watch Cleveland against Sacramento and it's just like it looked
like they were just out there because they had to
be right. So you know, Kevin Love wasn't was kept
them in that game on Christmas Day. And then he
comes out the only shoot he shot twenty five shots
that game, shoots twelve this game seven for twelve points.

(02:52):
Still had a great game. Lebron James takes seventeen shots.
Seventeen shots only two three pointers, didn't make any sixteen points.
That's one of those I'm going to rest without resting games. Yeah,
this is I'm gonna you know, and I'm not gonna
carry the scoring load. Maybe I'll try to facilitate. I'm
going to defer to a lot of deferring assists, right

(03:15):
so that these numbers prove exactly what I'm saying in
terms of, hey, look i'm a little beat up, I'm
a little tired. You guys carry the load. I'll be
out here for you. I'm here, look at me. I'm
over here. But I'm going to facilitate and you guys
try to pull this in and bring this home. The
NBA don't have to find us because I am playing.

(03:35):
I am not sitting out a game on the road
for you know, for a Western Conference team that can
only see me. This time around. This is the thing
that I just it. I know that there are ups
and downs, and heck, the Warriors had one a week ago,
and Steve Kerr said even less than a week ago
now when they lost to the Denver Nuggets. He says,
that's a game just throw away tape you don't end

(03:56):
up watching. But this was an issue with the Cavaliers
last year, where we've thought during the regular season that
they were maybe just going through the motions and just
biding their time to get to the NBA Finals, and
that ended up being the case. But I think things
are different this year when you look at how much
stronger the Eastern Conference is, at least with the improvement
of the Boston Celtics Fronto Raptors now one of the

(04:18):
top teams in the Eastern Conference, I think that you
have to be concerned with the Cavaliers and and I
go big picture because I go back to the point
that you and I argued a couple of days ago.
I don't know what the Cavaliers are the best team
in the East, and they may not be, but I
know that they're not far and away the best team.
So to see the two Titans last year, of the
Warriors and Calves that we all look forward to, that

(04:38):
was the payoff of sitting through nine months of basketball
that didn't matter. Now when the Cavaliers and Warriors couldn't
meet again for the fourth time, There's no doubt in
my mind that the Warriors are the better team, and
there's really nothing there to prove except Golden State maybe
winning that series in five games. I am now more
interested in seeing if the Boston Celtics would face the

(04:59):
Golden State Warriors, or even flip it if somehow the
Rockets were to emerge, and could they knock off a
Lebron lead team. But I don't need to see Warriors
and Calves just because they know that the Warriors are
a better team right now, even with the Cavaliers still
waiting on Isaiah Tomas, I get what you're saying, and
in theory, that sounds great. Yes, let's spread it out,

(05:19):
let's see other teams you know, face off, But do
you really want to see Celtics? Do you want us?
Do you want to see the finals without Lebron James
lead team. It's very weird to think of for how
long it has been since what two thousand tens since
Celtics Lakers. Because I look at it like this, Lebron

(05:41):
James has the Floyd Mayweather effect in basketball. You love
them or you hate him, right, either way, you're gonna
watch him. You want to see him maybe surpass Michael
Jordan and be the best player ever, win more championships.
On the flip side, your hell been on seeing him
not be there, you know, surpass Michael Jorge as the
best player ever, and you want to see him fail. Right,

(06:03):
So you're gonna but you're gonna tune in. So if
you take that figure, if you take that guy off
the screen and out of the finals, then you're left
with what the Wizards are, Kyrie? I think in the
Celtics and and and Warriors calves by the way ends
when Lebron leaves. I mean we know that the Warriors

(06:27):
and whoever and wherever he goes, and maybe in the
Western Conference plass. But that's another reason why this isn't
something new. Maybe the Celtics need to get into that mix.
So then they're the team that goes and ends up
pursuing the Warriors, just like this Rockets team now has
become so intriguing in the West because we feel that
they have gained a step on Golden State with the
addition of Chris Paul. And it seems to be Darryl

(06:47):
Morey's goal of the of his soul goal is to
take down the Golden State Warriors. With the Calves, it
seems like everything is coming to an end. And that's
where I just I feel as well that this run,
this wouldn't even be This would be the third maybe
best Calves team to face the Warriors final. But I
don't need to see that. It's still a piece missing

(07:08):
that we're not sure how it fits in, and that
could change your perception. And I'm talking about one five
ft three and a half inch garden five thank you know,
my son is six, he's five nine. Okay. What I'm
saying is, you know they have to get Isaiah Thomas

(07:29):
a kid jersey when he plays. No. I'm just that's
that's low. That was a low shot. But you look
look at it like this, we don't know what that's
going to do to that Calf's team. All right, we
know it'll take a lot of pressure off of Dwayne Wade,
It'll take a pressure off off j R. Smith, Jr.
Uh Jay crowder like, It'll take pressure off them because

(07:53):
they're not going to have to be forced to score. Right. So,
now you have a Lebron James, you have a Kevin
on Love, you have Isaiah Thomas who can fill it up.
All right, that's your too, that's a your big two
in the in the third right with Isaiah Thomas. So
if he comes in and he is what he was

(08:15):
in in Boston, and now you can put Lebron James
on the bench for long, longer stretches and he can
come in and he can still carry that load of scoring.
Now you have a different team. Now it's a little
bit more exciting. So now you're matched up with Lebron
and Kevin Durant and Isaiah Thomas and Steph Curry. You

(08:38):
don't want to see that finals. I don't think it
is as good as what we have seen in the
past three years. And I need something new. I needed
some different fresh. Yeah, you know what, And and that's
when you get it, You're gonna be like I we
got last year. I mean, you want the Celtics. We
know Gordon Hayward. Is that what you want to do it?

(09:00):
You just basically want Kyrie Irving and anybody and and
and that's how it's set up when the Cavaliers and
Warriors and then or started this trilogy I should say,
with no Kevin Love and then ended up being no
Kyrie Irving for the rest of the series. And so
that it's Lebron. So now it's okay, can Kyrie carry that?
Almost the next year you get Gordon Hayward in and

(09:21):
now it's maybe Warriors and Celtics again, and you start
a new rivalry because the Cavaliers wouldn't have Lebron James
because he's gonna go somewhere else. You think the Celtics
are better than than than the Cavalier, No, I don't,
do you. So what I would want to see is
again the Celtics and Cleveland in the Eastern Conference finals. Right,

(09:43):
That's that's intriguing, even, that's that's exciting. Yes, we know
what's happening in right, We we know what's happening in
the West, all right, No one is is loaded enough
as good as San Antonio can be, as good as
Houston can be. No one is good enough. They do
not have enough firepower. You can't count on Houston because
they don't play defense. So how can you stop one

(10:06):
of the all time greatest scoring teams and you play
no defense? Right? So yeah, that that doesn't even, that
doesn't even if you're just looking at it just on
paper and number that doesn't even equate. That would never register.
Houston will never be able to get over that hump
because they don't stop anybody. And the team you would
want to at least try to stop, keep them in
the high nineties is golden state. If you don't have

(10:29):
the ability, are the personnel to do that, then all
you're doing is out there trying to outscore them, and
that we know that's not gonna happen. Rockets Celtics play
tonight in Boston. And to see this over a seven
game stretch, as a maybe a third place series, I
would almost be more intrigued than seeing Warriors and Cavaliers.
I just and last night last night, maybe a one

(10:50):
off and it maybe these things do happen in the NBA,
But I just look at with the Cavaliers and we know, yeah,
Isaiah Thomas is coming back. The Kings, aren't they They've
got names, but they are better, better than they were
last year, I can tell you that. But they still
have issues scoring. And to see the Cavaliers give up
a hundred and nine points on the road, and he said,

(11:13):
he said himself, I drink directly out of the fountain
of youth, directly, no cup needed. And remember this is
the King's coming off of a on the back end
of a back to back where they were humiliated in
l A the night before. This is the NBA. Okay,
any game prior to the All Star Break, it doesn't
really matter. I don't care how good you are a

(11:35):
here bad you are prior to the All Star break.
Everything kicks in after that when guys are trying to
see themselves in the playoffs. These games are thoraway games.
This loss to one on nine by the Cavaliers to
the Sacramento Kings won't even register, and two months it

(11:57):
won't even No one will even be talking about, well
it started back, and when it doesn't matter, maybe not,
but this was this was something that we saw a
year ago, and you didn't know which Cavalier's team would
show up, and no one showed up in the finals
and then they lost in five games. I well, that's
because they were completely outmanned, which would be the same

(12:18):
scenario this time around. And it will continue to be
that until pieces start to change. Like I said yesterday, uh, Tuesday,
if Clay Thompson decides he wants to go elsewhere and
be a guy, then when when you start seeing that
team break up, They're not gonna be able to pay
everybody a hundred million dollars. They're just not gonna be
able to do it. So in the next two years

(12:39):
or so, things will start to shift. Right, we don't
know what's going on with Steph Curry's angle. You gotta
remember he has a history of ankle problems from the
beginning right from college all the way to now. We
don't know what that looks like. K D is the
face of that franchise right now. But when those pieces
start to move around, when Lebron leaves Cleveland next year

(13:00):
and goes maybe he comes out west, right, maybe he
goes to the Lakers and are anywhere, then things will
start to change. But as it stands now, the two
best teams in the NBA are the Cavaliers and the
Golden State Warriors and they will meet again. If your
Christmas wishes like mine, no Calves Warriors, you can always

(13:20):
tweet us. I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox you can
get from wishes. Oh there are more than one. Oh
absolutely there is. There is Warriors Calves fatigue for sure,
just like how it's fatigue ends up in the National
Football League. It's happened because they're they're, you know, habitual
lion crossers. Okay, I mean they will frost the line,

(13:43):
they will, but they will you know, they're they're cheaters. Okay,
let's just come frost out and say they're cheaters. Evan
tweets in you are all completely dismissing the thunder. Hey,
thunder Calves, I'm good with it. Give give us something different, please?
He is he from so Mom. I'm Dan Buyer. We
are in for Doug gottliebera The Doug Gottlieb Show. One

(14:03):
NFL star is allowed to prove this weekend, in Week seventeen,
more so than any other player in the National Football League.
We'll tell you who that is and why next on
Fox Sports Radio. Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Easy from Salam I'm Dan Buyer. We are in for
Doug today. You can always reach us on Twitter, get
me at Dan Buyer on Fox and you can catch

(14:23):
from at from Salam has. The NBA Finals discussion will
will continue at some point here on Fox Sports Radio.
We'll get back into I just I have no desire
to see Warriors and Calves again, and I from says
that's the best thing that we can get in the NBA.
And and and it it may you know it deep

(14:44):
down in your heart that they may be the top
two teams in the NBA, but the matchup isn't the
best matchup we can get. And that's what I want
to see, is I want to see a different matchup
or a matchup that is at least better in the
n b A. We'll dive into the more on that.
But also a week seventeen is on the horizon in
the NFL, and there's a lot to play for for

(15:07):
a few teams. There are other teams who are just
maybe jockeying for draft position, or if you're the Philadelphia Eagles,
you've got things wrapped up in the NFC and you
can kind of cruise through weeks seventeen. But there is
one team and one player e from that I feel
has more to gain than anybody else in the National
Football League, and that is Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons.

(15:30):
Because his to trying trying not to be over dramatic,
his legacy, or a portion of his legacy I believe,
is actually on the line this week as they are
home to Carolina and with the win would wrap up
the final wild card birth in the NFC. With a loss,

(15:51):
it opens the door for the Seahawks to get a
win against the Cardinals, and the Seahawks move in instead
of the Falcons, and then the Falcons would be home
for the for well I guess the New Year's Day
and then for the rest of the season. The Matt
Ryan conundrum coming off of an m v P season
where I would say last year, at this time, we

(16:13):
felt that Matt Ryan turned the corner as a quarterback.
He ends up being the National National Football League's Most
Valuable Player. But then in we see Matt Ryan reverting
to be the Matt Ryan of old. And when I
talk about legacy, there's no guarantee that the Falcons will
ever make it back to the Super Bowl, and there

(16:34):
is a decent chance that last year could have been
the high point of Matt Ryan's career. But what is
at steak from is him coming up in a big spot,
carrying his team to the playoffs in trying to erase
a prior history where we think Matt Ryan doesn't come
through in the clutch because just when we thought that

(16:55):
everything was going great for the Falcons, and I don't
want to bring it up, but I will three against
the win when Patriots it falls apart on them. Now,
it may not have been his fault, but he was
still on that Falcons team. And now you've got an
opportunity going up against Carolina where if you lose that
game and you're in a season where you've thrown just
nineteen touchdown passes the twelve interceptions, I think so much

(17:16):
is on the line for Matt Ryan, even more than
just a playoff birth this weekend. Well it is because
the knock on Maddie Ice as they call him, was, Yeah,
in the regular season, they handled business, they want a division,
They did this and that, and playoffs home playoff games
they lost. He couldn't win the big game, and then wow,

(17:37):
he has an m v P year last year. Oh
tremendous and so you're like, okay, he's turned the hump.
Super Bowl happens, middle end of the third quarter, they're
up to three, and then the world's fall off. We
know how that ended. And so now everybody wants to

(17:59):
see what what Matt Ryan shows up the next year.
This year, is there a Super Bowl hangover? Everybody? There's
super Bowl handoff? You know, most teams that did throttled
like that, they come back and they have a hangover.
But then they come out and there three you know,
and you're like, great win against the Packers, great, great win,

(18:19):
there's no hangover. Go to Detroit, be the tough Detroit team.
You know the Bears. The first game, it is what
it was, you know, and then you lose three and
they're like, oh okay, and they didn't look good against that.
They had a bad loss. A couple of losses at home,
I believe, to Dolphins and Bills, and then you have
the game against New England on the road where you

(18:41):
end up losing on a Sunday night, and you know,
it just was embarrassing. So now Matt Ryan's in the
position at the end of the season to where the
naysayers are coming out like, yeah, he's a good quarterback,
but he's not an m v P type quarterback. He's
not a need league quarterback. He's just a good quarterback,

(19:03):
you know what I mean. And if they do not
make the playoffs, which honestly, I don't think they will,
you think Carolina beats them. I think Carolina beats them. Um.
I think that's a tough game for them to put
all their hopes on. And you know, Carolina has is

(19:23):
gearing themselves up to to get back to where they
were a couple of years ago. Right. The fact that
they've taken the uh proverbial leash off Cam Newton and
allowed him to run now gonna you know, they tried
to get away from that because of all the hits
he took last year. So now they're utilizing their weapons.

(19:45):
So that doesn't bolde well for Atlanta. And I just
think that hangover from a devastating loss last year in
the Super Bowl. It just took a little time to
catch up to him. And and now we're in a
position where it's do or die. You have to win.

(20:05):
You're going to get into a tough playoff team, a
division foe. And I just don't see it. I don't
see a plan out in their favor. And to speak
about Matt Ryan, this is a very important game for
him in terms of his legacy, because his legacy will
continue to be he can't win the big game, even

(20:28):
the Super Bowl, when you have a day's lead on
on a team with the thirty nine year old quarterback,
it just it doesn't vote well for him moving forward
in terms of his legacy. I look at that division
of just the NFC South and if you had to
take quarterbacks from that division. Remember Cam Newton was the

(20:48):
NFL's m v P a couple of years ago. Ryan
just a year removed camps in that same division. But
I don't find many people that would have Matt Ryan
above three when picking from quarterbacks from that division. And
that maybe a tip of the captain Drew Brees and
the tip of the captain we know one is that's
that's not even a question, is you know Drew Brees
is definitely one with yes, with everything that he has

(21:11):
done in his career, it's not even close. Cam, I
think would be your second. He's more polarizing. He gives
you even though his completion percentages and as high as
Matt Ryan's is not that far apart, but he gives
you a different dimension. If you had to take one,
if you had to pick one guy to quarterback this game,
who would you take? I would take Can Yeah, I

(21:32):
think most people would have well, and this is the
way I do it, right. So if you took Matt
Ryan and put him on Carolina and Cam Newton and
put him on Atlanta, who would be better Atlanta? That's
just how right you think about the weapons that Matt
Ryan has been blessed with. One in particular, Julio Jones.

(21:53):
I mean, come on, so when you when you when
you start moving pieces of quarterbacks around like that, you
look at it. If you put Cam Newton on the
team with two dynamic running backs and Julio Jones, Mohammedan
new who I love? I think? I think, I think, yeah,
I think where does where does Cam Newton go? I mean,

(22:14):
what does that look like for Cam Newton? It's it's
very good for Kennon. I mean Cam Newton has they
got rid of his best friend. He has funches and
one footed Greg Olsen and a young kid named Christian McCaffrey.
Who's who's special? But where are the weapons. Yeah, I

(22:36):
you are preaching to the choir, and I think with
Matt Ryan, and you mentioned the running game that they
have is so much more electric. DeVante Freeman is just
a tough tackle, runs hard every single time. Yeah, Kevin
Coleman can switch things up Matt Ryan's legacy. And you

(22:56):
you mentioned some of the games. I mean the home
lost to the Dolphins, home loss to the Bills an excusable.
That Lions game. Remember there was golden tape stopped at
the one yard line and they had to do the
ten second runoff because it was a touchdown, and then
they said that he didn't get in, so they end
up winning. They had a good road win in Seattle.
But that was also a game with the Seahawks game.
And we could say this from a lot of different

(23:17):
you know, but but when even when you're looking at
their great wins, they maybe weren't as great. The Saints game,
Dion Jones picks off your Drew Brees in the end
zone and seals. So that they've been playing with fire
all season. But at least this weekend, Matt Ryan would
have an opportunity to silence the critics. He's from salam

(23:37):
I'm Dan Buyer. This is the Doug gott Leap Show
on Fox Sports Radio. We'll see if we can silence
from when it comes to college football bowl games. But
first we hear from our good friend David Gascon, who's
giving us an update of what's happening in the National
Football League, and he he has the bowl games continue to
roll on in college football. Yeah, the Military Bowl right now,
taking a little bit of a break. It's at halftime

(23:59):
and it's all Navy in this one. It's Abe, We're
running right Zach Aby plows this way into the ends
of touchdown Navy. But ship Man, this little lightning and
thunder combination we got going here with a Yeah, Navy
is rolling right now. Seven. This is after Virginia returned
the opening kickoff for a touchdown unanswered for Navy. They

(24:21):
got thirty nine carries on the ground for two hundred
and sixty four yards and four scores. Now switching over
quickly to the National Football like a couple of notes
that you guys are talking about. With the Atlanta Falcons,
wide receiver Julio Jones says he's ready to play against Carolina.
He's got a bad ankle and also a bad thumb,
but center Alex Mack was held out a practice today
because of a calf in dream. In Minnesota, Vikings head

(24:43):
coach Mike Zimmers said Sam Bradford's expected to practice at
some point this week, and Albert Briers report that Lions
head coach Jim calledwells Like could be the first of
many coaches to be fired this season. In Miami, Dolphins
quarterback j Keller said he'll return to the NFL next season,
but only if he has a starter. In the NBA,
Minnesota Timberwolves, Jeff Tigue's m R revealed he has a

(25:04):
sprained left knee. He's out and definitely Celtic tricky Jillan
Brown is out tonight against the Houston Rockets with knee soreness.
Fellas those Celtics, Yeah, take on the Rockets tonight. Timberwolves
taking on the Bucks and what should be an interesting game.
James so Marian tweets in listening to you guys talking
about Matt Ryan, you didn't point out the one big
change change an offensive coordinator, Huge Sarkisian moves in for

(25:29):
it was very evident throughout the season that there's not
a lot of comfortability there in terms of utilizing the
offensive weapons that we saw Kyle Shanahan, who in my opinion,
is an offensive genius I've had. I mean, I've known
Kyle since he was a kid in college and uh
he also was offensive coordinator of mine in Houston, and

(25:52):
so it was it's a definite, you know, lack of
cohesion there. But I a this. If you change offensive
coordinators on Tom Brady on Aaron Rodgers on a Drew Breese,
what kind of quarterbacks are they? Yeah, they're still great

(26:15):
changes with quarterbacks coaches. That's the point. You know. I
didn't bring that up because I don't want to put
it all on a quarterbacks coach or an offensive coordinator,
because when you get to this point in your career
and you've been an m v P and he's been
in this league long enough to be able to come
up to the line, see something he doesn't like, make

(26:36):
his own calls. Ben Roethlisberger calls his own place. We
know that two minute offense. All the elite quarterbacks they
call their own play, except when it comes down to spiking.
I think he did that. I think he tried to defer.
I think he tried to deflect, But I think that
was all him, and I think he was trying to
deflect them, like I this is what I would have done.

(26:57):
First of all, just on that play, not to get
off top. You never run slints on a fake spike
on the goal line. It's it. That's the dumbest that
doesn't make sense. It's all you do is throw the
faith only one person can catch it. You Why would
you throw the ball into the middle of a bunched
defense on the two yard line. I I know, I know,

(27:18):
and I think that Antonio Brown's injury. We've seen Ben
do the fake spike before with Antonio Brown and Brown
was not there, so it was all on ben shoulders.
But back to the Matt Ryan offensive coordinator point, there
was also a lot of rumblings during the season that
the Falcons would come out great in the first half,
teams would be able to make adjustments, and then they'd

(27:38):
be shut down in the second half offensively. And then
you saw that. You saw that in the game against
the Dolphins, and you saw that in the game against
the Buffalo Bills. And that has been an issue. And
we've seen how good Kyle Shanahan is now in San
Francisco and Jimmy Garoppolo. All right, what did you say?
Did you say? Eve Rahim's getting hot in here? Somebody
get him, get him something to get. Can we get
a fan in your place? Here's the from I from

(28:02):
loves college football. Evram loves bowl games, right, don't you?
Evrahm made a joke the other day about just there's
too many bowl games. We've heard this for years, way
too many bowl games. We are gonna put e from
Salam to the test in a game that we like
to call bowling with from Yes, from I am going

(28:25):
to give you um a name of a bowl and
you have to guess if it's a bowl game or
a bowling alley. Okay, you have to guess. This is
round one. We've got two rounds. Round one is worth
one point. We'll see how well you do the first one,
the Frisco Bowl. Is that a bowl game or a

(28:47):
bowling alley? Oh my god? That is that's a bowl game? Yes,
it is one point. The Frisco Bowl played in Frisco, Texas.

(29:08):
What he's played in Frisco, Texas's played in Frisco, Texas.
It is a bowl game. And this year's version of
the Frisco Bowl was played Oh my god, featuring s
m U in Louisiana Tech the Frisco Bowl. It's not
even sponsored by anything, it's just the place they're playing.

(29:30):
Evrom Salam has got one point, all right. What about
the Bay Side Bowl? That can't be a bowl? So
is that a bowl game or a bowling alley? That's
a bowling alley. That is a bowling alley in the
great city of Portland, Maine. It's if you want to
go on a Saturday night to the Bay Side Bowl,
you can go to Portland. Man, have you ever been

(29:51):
to Maine? It is a beautiful state. Benefit what black
people will go to Maine. Why wouldn't you go to
the shipped up there or something like that. I don't know.
I mean I've just never been at the barbecue sitting
around and talking about vacation and in Maine. I just

(30:11):
I mean, that's that's never come up. Well, what about
New Mexico Bowls? How do you know that's? Because I
think I think no, I think we were we may
have and I think we were considered to play in
New Mexico Bold this year and I was just like
New Mexico, what the what is the New Mexico Bowl.

(30:32):
The New Mexico Bowl is Yes, it is a bowl game.
It is a well it's actually been around for about
ten years and they play in New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
And this year's version featured Colorado State taking on Marshall.
Marshall alright, so far, so good. What about hey, let's

(30:54):
stick with this. How about the Arizona Bowl? Yes, that
is what that is? A bowl? Is the Arizona Bowl
a bowl game? It is in Tucson, Arizona. Can I
just point out four for four? Can I just point
out how lazy these bowl game naming committees are? I
just want to point that out there. Okay, ridiculous, trying

(31:17):
to you're trying to highlight what you have to provide Arizona.
What about the What about the Fun City Bowl? We'll
move off the States. We'll go to the Fun City
Bowl bowling alley or a bowl game from salam four points.
He's four for four so far in bowling with fun City.

(31:37):
Where would that be played? Ah? Fun City Bowl? You
know what I'm gonna go with? A bowl game that
sounds like something they would do. No, oh no, you
can get ten frames of fun at the Fun City
Bowl just outside of Savannah, Georgia. Yes, in the suburbs
of Savannah, Georgia. Is the Fun City Bowl do things? Imagine?

(32:01):
How great that like the swag bag for the fun candy? Oh,
what's in the Arizona bagg? You get a cactus in
sand on the radio final one for round one, You've

(32:21):
got four points out of a possible five. The Seneca Bowl,
the Seneca Bowl, Seneca Bowl. Is that a bowl game
or a bowling alley bowling alley? Yes, it is. Grab
your friends and go to the Seneca Bowl and Seneca Bowl.

(32:41):
It's it's the Seneca Bowl that is. Maybe it's run
by Seneca Wallace. I'm not sure. If he started a
bowling alley, good for you. You went five for six
pretty points in bowling with from in guessing if it
is a bowl game or if it is a bowling alley.
This further proves my point that they should be shame
with himself. Further this is this is enhancing my point

(33:06):
of they should be a shamed If I said, if
I said to you from let's go to the Fun
City Bowl, would you rather end up at a football
game or at a bowling out yeah, I agree with that.
Imagine that arcade that you've got just outside of Savannah.
You know what I'm saying. Uh, he's from Salama. I'm
Dan Buyer. We'll play round two of bowling with he
from coming up later on in the program. You can

(33:27):
reach us on Twitter. I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox
and you can get from at E from Salam. Heispan
winning quarterback, could be back on the football field next season.
It means he's been away for a while. We'll tell
you who that is next on Fox Sports Radio. Doug
Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Buyer. That's
he from Salama. As we are in for Doug today.
Doug doing the duty on the herd of Colin Cowherd.

(33:49):
So we've got you for the next couple of hours
or so from Salam. By the way, five points in
the first round of bowling with from West Yes to
decide if it's a bowl game or a bowling alley.
So far, the only one I think you were messed
up atom was the Fun City Bowl. That sounds like
something they would name a bowl game, being like Nevada,
not even in Las Vegas, being like like you know,

(34:12):
behind the Old Horse Shoe in Nevada or something like that.
Fun Bowl it's a bowling alley just outside of Savannah, Georgia.
If you want to go to the Fun City Bowl
and have some fun. I would also think that it
could be like the top rival to Party City, you know,
where all they do is specialize in like birth and
streamers and stuff like that. Absolutely one city, and every

(34:34):
touchdown at the Fun City Bowl, if it was a
bowl game, there would be balloons flying off into the sky.
That's what you would get in different in different helium bass.
You know, maybe mascots like clown juggling on the sideline. Oh,
that would be great, that would be great. How about
a nice clown face at the fifty yard line of
the Fun City Bowl? And are you a clown guy?

(34:56):
I'm in clowns. Okay, it clowns, but you know regular clowns.
I mean, I'm I'm you know, I'm six eight, so
I don't really. You know, at a certain point you
stopped being scared of stuff. No clown is gonna scared.
You know, when you walk through life, you know, taller
than the population, then it's different. That's that's fair enough,

(35:22):
fair enough, and I'm black, So it's other things that
I have to worry. I would think though, that the
real life things that that hunts me and I'm scared of.
That's just so you know. Driving it itself is it's like,
alright from I, But you're not. You're not. You're not
afraid by the guy with the white nted face man

(35:42):
in the crazy red hair. You're not afraid of Bozoh?
Are you? Are you afraid to plan? No? No, my
wife is a big anti clown person. I don't. Yeah,
I'm not. Did you guys see it together? No? No,
no he haven't. No, he haven't, not at all. They
have a gascon is gonna bring us a game? Speaking
of clowns always not not at all. Sorry, man, I'm sorry. Look,

(36:05):
he said that he threw the alley. Okay, he threw
it right in front of the room. I had to
do something with it. I'm sorry. I was going to
bring in Dave for game time, but I wanted to
bring him in just to find out if is he
a clown guy or not? Uh? Everkid, care less? You
can care less? All right, if you could care less,
then let's do this. This is game time. Side on

(36:28):
the Doug Gottlieb show. All right, David, game do you
have for us today that it has nothing to do
with clown? Let's take a peek at its. Oh alright,
guess who? Yes, you guys ready, Yeah, we get to
guess who Dave talks about or describes. Run right into this.
I was just award the m v P title of
a college bowl game and was the only on the

(36:49):
on the field player who doesn't play and play at eleven.
I played pretty much eleven on eleven. So I'm a
special to you guy, offense, defense, whatever it may be.
I am not that guy, but a specialty guy. Who
am I wow? A specialty guy. He was just awarded
the m v P. I am. Gosh. I'll tell you what.

(37:10):
The hunter last night for Texas had an amazing game
against Missouri, And as I'm looking at the different things,
I would say, gosh, it has I'm gonna say Michael
Dixon of Texas, Yes, yes, all right, the job well done?
He wasn't He's going pro too. He was named the

(37:33):
m v P of the Academy Texas Bowl. He is
the first non offensive player to be named m v
P in the Texas Bowl history. As a second ever punter.
Make sure to put this one in because I've been
on the air from before and he hates anything to
do with the foot and football. Like kickers, he's the

(37:55):
anti kickers. Listen. I may have picked Missouri last night,
and I was so mad. Every single time the Tigers
had to start within their five yard line, Yeah, every
single time, and on that football just died right now, Okay,
we just killed football. Yeah. Ten of his punts dropped
inside Missouri's fifteen yard line, and four of them were

(38:16):
even inside the five yard line, with a forty yard
in the third quarter that started at Missouri's two yard line.
He also had zero touchbacks. The great thing the m
v P is actually trophy is actually a football. He
kicked it out of bounds when they gave it to him.
It was amazing. It went out of bounds at the
two yard line. It was great that didn't happen. I
made it up alright, gentleman. For one, I have yet

(38:37):
to play for my new team this season, but the
league better watch out because my return could be right
around the corner. Who a little excited about. Head coach
for the Cavalier's Toronto Lou said it will be practice
and we'll get some shots up for him, cover some
defensive rules, some principles, and also scrimmage a little bit

(38:58):
so Isaiah can get a feel for what it's like
to play five on five again. End quote. I wonder
if the Calves start their scrimmages down ten now, considering
they can't even beat the second. Come on, you hate
the Camps. I don't hate the Calves. And I say
one negative thing towards the team, And do you think
I hate that because you've been bashing them the first

(39:22):
whole hour an awful to an awful day. Don't guess
where the Kings will be in April, and guess where
the Calves be. I'm a former Heisman Trophy quarterback who
can be playing in a great White North next season.
Who am John football from? You're on You're on point?

(39:47):
I have the post. I have the post. I know
what's going on in the world. The Canadian Football League
has approved former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel for contract does
the league announced today. Manzell's Riots are owned by the
Hamilton's Tiger Cats, who worked out with him back in September,
but Thursday's announced but does not necessarily mean that he's
gonna play for the team in eighteen, but after months

(40:09):
of background shacks and whatnot, including an investigation to the
domestic violence charge, it gives the tiger Cats the green
light to sign him or trade his rights whatever they made. Hey,
I say play while you can. He went from the
Cleveland Browns to the Tiger Cats. And what's there to
do in Hamilton's to get in trouble drinking? Watch Sacramental

(40:31):
Kings Basketball, get the get the league Bass. Thanks Dave
Easy from Salama, I'm Dan buyer. You are on point today.
You know what I'm feeling good day to day. I'm
glad to have you with us. As we get closer
and closer to we also get closer and closer to
Week seventeen in the National Football League, and there's a

(40:52):
lot to play for for the likes of the Atlanta Falcons,
the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, all of those teams and
few others like the Chargers, Seahawks, and also Buffalo. Bill
is still having some playoff hopes. But the conversation of
Week seventeen from has been more about the move that
was made in the NFL by the Pittsburgh Steelers and

(41:14):
then by the New England Patriots. It was the release
of James Harrison by the Steelers and then the addition
of Harrison to the New England Patriots organization. I want
to start out here because yesterday on Fox Sports Radio,
filling in for Steve Gorman Sports was Andy Furman and
Aaron Torres, and they had a chance to speak with
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who gave his thoughts on

(41:37):
why the team brought in the veteran linebacker. Well, it
was available. You know, it's hard to get players at
this time of year that had that kind of ability
to help a team, and uh, you know when you
got that a couple of weeks ago with Kenny Britt
and so things just you worked out and we'll see
how it goes. So now James Harrison is on the
New England Patriots, and he seems to be enjoying his

(41:57):
time because he's taking pictures with Tom Brady and tweeting.
One day in the books, with New England getting a
fresh start, there's a lot more to the story, and
that's really what makes the story. Not only is it
going from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the New England Patriots,
the top two teams in the a f C. But
it's also about supposedly what happened and what didn't happen
behind the scenes in Pittsburgh, because now we've got a

(42:18):
world of words on if James Harrison really forced the
Steeler's hand or if it was the Steelers just stringing
Harrison along the whole time. As you hear all this
talkie from it being a thirteen year NFL VET like
you were, what what comes to your mind when you
hear the back and forth, whether it be from James
Harrison or current Steelers players. What I try to convey, uh,

(42:41):
two people outside of NFL locker rooms we've never played
or anything like that, is the fact that for the
most part, we only get things from from one side.
So if a player holds out, if a player wants
to trade, if a player you know it's not happy,

(43:02):
the narrative is the player is selfish, spoiled, so on
and so forth. On the flip side of that, if
a team decides that they want to cut a player,
they want to trade a player, they want to devalue
a player, it's just business mhm um. Being in both
situations before. You know, if I'm James Harrison and I

(43:29):
was told something basically sold why I should come back
and then start of the year right at the start
of the year, And it didn't play out that way.
And we're getting down to probably the last few games
I'll ever play ever in life, and there's an opportunity
and a chance for me to go somewhere else and play. Uh.

(43:55):
I try to use that I asked to be released.
I do whatever I can to get out of that situation.
Because number one, there is no loyalty in sports, period
from either side, from players side, from ownership side. We
are a commodity. They'll use us and then we're gone.

(44:18):
I always bring this up. The forty nine has got
rid of Jerry Rice's greatest receiver ever to walk the
planet or any planet for as well as as I know,
far as I know, Joe Montana considerably the greatest quarterback ever.
He didn't and he he didn't finish his career there, right.
So but it's it's Tim Brown, like I mean, it's

(44:40):
just it's hey manny, right. So when you look at
when when you when you look at things like that,
it's like, oh, well, you know, the team was trying
to go in a different direction, but when the player
wants to do it, it's all of a sudden, it's uh, oh,
he's selfish. And and you know some of the guys
from the Steelers where some of the younger guys were like, well,
you know it was all about him and all yeah,
at at at this point in his career and in

(45:02):
year fifteen, I think this is for him. It is
about him, all right. And if he's not playing, he
feels that he has something to offer, and he's not
playing because you've got young guys or you guys got
you know, you know, I get that. I understand that.
I don't fault James Harrison for for leaving and all
are wanting to leave. I don't. I don't fault him either.

(45:23):
What I find interesting, though, is how when you use
the example of player versus team, now it's player versus
player because you have other players now speaking out on
what James Harrison did. That's what I think is unique
because you hear let's let's hear from So we've got

(45:44):
Marquise Pouncey of the Pittsburgh Steelers from earlier on the
week talking about James Harrison his release in his role
previously with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The first place, you're more
surprised than he went to New England. I'm gonna do
you want to go to the one? Like the team said,
I We're gonna let Mortagnan Harrison. Harrison wanted, he wanted out.

(46:05):
I mean, that's that's funny to read the stories. This
is something that he wanted to do. You know what
I'm saying. It's not like they got together and said
I was going to like, no, that's not what happens.
He needn't come on. And then Bud Dupree said that
he was jealous of he and t. J. Watt, meaning
James Harrison was jealous of those two getting a majority

(46:25):
of the snaps and and what coming in as a rookie.
And then there was an unnamed sources saying that Harrison
was actually sleeping in meetings that the Steelers had and
not paying attention, doing his own weightlifting routine, putting it
on Instagram, maybe trying to make the other players look bad.
That's where I find it interesting is this isn't a
Steelers versus James Harrison thing. Now it's a former teammates

(46:47):
against James Harrison thing, which makes tense me to believe
that maybe Harrison I could get where if if Harrison
was sold a bill of goods that they didn't come through,
why you wouldn't want to be there. But to try
to change the narrative of of not taking any responsibility
on what he did during his time there seems a
bit unprofessional and it seems to have at least rubb
the Steelers the wrong way. Well as far as sleeping

(47:11):
in meetings and year fifteen, you can sleep in meetings, really,
that's come on, man. Look so when and when I
was in my I guess story time. OK. Wait, it's like,
I just want to know. Is there a scale, like
like you're ten, you can kind of do the nodding,

(47:31):
like the quick wake up and if you seen it's
like total. If you started for ten years in the
NFL at any position, you can go to sleep in
the meeting if you want to bring your own, especially
if you've been playing in the same style of offense
or defense for years. There's nothing. I mean it, It

(47:54):
begins to get beyond monotonous, right, And I get it,
all right, everybody's different. But I used to come in
and on Wednesday Thursday practice and I say, hey, coach,
let's watch blitz pick up that we just ran in practice.
Let's watch blitz pick up first because I want to
sleep right. And he'll say, okay, from who put the

(48:16):
Blitz pick up on, We'll go over our assignments all that,
and then I'll go ahead and get my had little
towel that I made a pillow of a couple of
hows put together, taped and all that made a pillow
out of and I would put that on the wall,
put my feet on the desk, and I would go
to sleep. Now some people will be like, well, that's
why you weren't this and that. The fact that the
matter is, I did my job. I did it well.

(48:38):
I did it. I started ten years out of my
thirteen year career, and at a certain point I knew
exactly what was gonna happen on the field. I knew situations.
I knew all of that, and if I wanted to
get some sleep in the meeting, and I was gonna
get some sleep in the meeting. So I don't want
to use sleeping in the meeting as something. Oh well,
he was disrespecting the team and other guys by sleeping.

(49:00):
Guys sleep all the time. That's not like a big
secret or anything like that. The fact that he wanted
to continue to play and go somewhere else. And I
think Punty said that he hurt his legacy by he
destroyed his legacy by leaving uh Pittsburgh and signing with
the Patriots. But Pittsburgh had released him three times, uh

(49:21):
two times prior already. So if Pittsburgh releases him a
couple of times then brings him back, then he decides
he wants to leave. Who's in the wrong, who's in
the right. Right. So this is the player saying, hey,
look I want to continue to go on. New England
came and got him. I guarantee he's gonna get some
snaps on the field. He's one of those type of

(49:43):
players that all you need to do is affect one play.
That's all you need. Dwight Freeney is doing it right now, right.
All you need to do is affect one play. And
it doesn't hurt his legacy because it didn't hurt anybody.
Is Brett fort the legacy hurt? No? Okay, So a
great player is a great player, and we forget that

(50:04):
James Harrison actually went to the Cincinnati Bengals, thank you.
You know at one point in his career when he
when when he was released by Pittsburgh, right when Willia
mc ginnis left New England and went to Cleveland, didn't
hurt his legacy. So this is what I'm talking about.
The people are getting all been out of shape. And
these are younger guys, these are these are millennials now.
So when you start bringing up, oh, he's showing us

(50:27):
up on Instagram and all that, that's that's irrelevant. I mean,
that's ridiculous. But what about the then notion that James
Harrison is going to how much let me phrase it
into question to you, how much can James Harrison tell
the New England Patriots? Uh? And what the Steelers are
going to everything? When I when I this, New England
does this and it happens with other teams with New

(50:50):
England specializes in this. And two thousand and five I
was with the Jacksonville Jaguars. It had run its course,
wasn't They had deactivated me because in order to every
every game I was active, they owed me like a

(51:11):
hundred grand or something like that. You know, on top
of my salary um. They went with Calif Barnes, young tackle,
and so I was just this is the first time
I had ever not played in my entire career. And
I was like, okay, well this is weird. So I'm
hanging out last week of the season. They needed to
see bring a guy off the practice squad, so they
cut me. All right, I say, I get my wife,

(51:33):
we fly to Vegas. We're hanging out. I get a
call from my agent, Hey, New England just call. They
want to sign you. What do you want to do.
Ten seconds later, my agent calls back, Hey, Jacksonville just call.
They want to bring you back. What do you want
to do. So what happens is that next week we

(51:56):
played Jacksonville played New England in the first round of
the play else right, So when they saw that I
was released, they call my agent like, hey, we want
to bring them in because they were gonna sit me
down and they were gonna have me map out the
entire play but not that they needed it, but they
were gonna have me map out the entire offensive scheme,

(52:17):
the calls, everything. Now, would you feel guilty doing that?
Where would you feel scored scoring? No? I would Why
would I feel guilty. They literally tapped me on my shoulder,
was like, hey, we're gonna cut you this week. That's
the first time I ever been kind of my life, right,
I mean like I was a starter until they deemed

(52:39):
that they wanted to go in a different direction. And
I told you Tuesday, I just didn't fit that scheme.
It just wasn't I mean, I can't play it because
I'm a professional. I consider myself a good offensive tackle.
It was just tougher on me than normal. They wanted
to go in a different direction. I get it. I
didn't hate Jacksonville for doing that. I was in Vegas
at the tables, having a good time, and then my

(53:00):
agent calls and say, hey, do you want to go
to New England. Oh, by the way, Jacksonville wants to
bring you back for the playoffs. So instead of going
to New England, which I probably should have done, I
decided everybody still had my my place in Jacksonville and
all of that, it would be easy. I just get
back on the plane and go to Jacksonville and then
just play. I knew that was my last game there anyway,
so I'll just go there and and and and be

(53:22):
there for the playoff game. Uh, but that's what New
England does. I say that story, I give you that
story because that's what they do. They'll look and see
what's coming up. They know they're pretty much going to
see Pittsburgh in the playoffs, so they're gonna get everything
they need to try to enhance their chances. Like I

(53:42):
said earlier, their habitual line crossers. Not that this is
crossing the line, but this shows they will push the
needle in their favor as much as they can whenever
they can. I get, I understand everything you say, and
I just I think to myself when I hear of
New England bringing in a guy for that man, and

(54:02):
and it happens across the NFL. Happened for times with
the Forts and Seahawks. It seemed like guys were going
back and forth. The fact is I would feel like
I'm being used. I would almost feel like I'm betraying
the guys that I left in Jacksonville on the field.
But there's there's none of that, and there's none of
that emotion, man, because it's a business. That's why are speaking.

(54:23):
Because if he would have left and went to Cleveland,
or if he would have left and went to, uh,
the Colts. No one would have said anything. The fact
that these two teams, no, it's probably going to come
down to them in the a f C Championship. Then
that's what the problem is. Why would you go to

(54:43):
our mortal enemies, go to someone who's not in contention
for a super Bowl. That's where the that's where the
rub is. That's where the issue is. James hasn't, Like
I don't he's already a weird dude anyway, right, it's
not It's not like he's that dude you call and
be like, hey, you want to go hang out? Like
he's already on his own page. He does his own thing.
He's been doing his own workouts since he's been in

(55:03):
the NFL, So let's not bring that up. He's a
different dude, period, So knowing who he is in his
personality or let there of, either way you want to
look at it, he's gonna do what you wanna do.
He's gonna do what you want. He's gonna do what
he wants to do. And he decided, look, I'm gonna
leave here. They don't need me. They got these young

(55:24):
guys that they're they're bringing along. I want to play one.
I want to give it one last goal, and he
messed around to win a Super Bowl, another Super Bowl.
He's here from Salama. I'm Dan Buyer. This is the

this just in. Navy has thrown a pass in their

(56:07):
Bowl game against Virginia. Buddy David gascon telling us earlier
that Navy had yet to attempt to pass in this game,
that they're up forty two to seven with thirteen minutes
left to go over Virginia in the Armed Forces Bowl,
or is this the Military Bowl? We'll get to bowling
with me from in another hour. How about that. But

(56:27):
NABE is up on Virginia right now. It's the Military Bowl.
That's what it is. We've got Navy big up on
Virginia and Navy has thrown up. Uh. A member of
our U. S. Armed Forces has to play in the
Military Bowl, right It couldn't be like I think this
is actually, to be honest, I think this is a
home game for Navy. I believe this game is in Annapolis.

(56:51):
Just that's the That's the way it goes. Hey, Look, oh,
like San Diego State, you have the point Setia Bowl.
Every year they would end up playing in that. Seemed
like half I'll tell you what, Navy, though, passes more
than Carmelo Anthony. How about that one transition to the NBA.
Michael Pena joining us. He covers the Association for Vice Sports.

(57:15):
He could find him on Twitter at Michael v pa. Hey, Mike,
how's it going? We are doing well? Even when I
started off, not with the Carmelo Anthony cracks, but with
the show today of the Cleveland Cavaliers falling last night
to the Sacramento Kings, A bad Sacramento Kings team. In
doing so by fourteen. I'm not saying the sky is falling.
And we've seen the Cavaliers do this roller coaster, But

(57:38):
is there anything that would concern you if you are
a Cavaliers fan from losing by fourteen tonight to the
by fourteen last night, to the lowly Kings, Uh No,
not really. You know I didn't I cut a tiny
bit of that game just because people were tweeting about
Vince Carter, so I wanted to watch that. Um. But no,

(58:00):
I thought that a lot of that stuff was pretty random.
And I mean Sacramento has actually played pretty well over
the last month with you know, I don't know if
Debouth played last night, but you know, when they play
him at the five and they don't clog up the
front court, they're actually not as terrible as you know,
a lot of people think that they are. But you know,
at the same time, I mean, if I'm Cleveland, if

(58:22):
I'm a Cleveland fan, uh, this is just the season's
barely started yet. Uh. You know, the Isaiah thomas Is
health is kind of going to probably dictate a lot
more of of their season and when games really start
to matter. Uh, you know, this is a team that's
been to the veteran team that's been to the finals

(58:45):
a few years in a row now, and you know,
it's just it's it's the dog days are about to come.
And I don't know how focused they were for that one,
So I wouldn't be too concerned. I think that, you know,
the winning streak that they were on a little while
ago was a really good sign for them to get
back on track at the defense going. So it's just
one game, one game and out of eight, two it's
not that big of a deal. Let me extra question.

(59:07):
We had a little bit of a debate, uh in
the first hour of who we want to see in
the finals again. I'm all for seeing Golden State and
Cleveland Cavaliers again. I think that's the most intriguing to me,
especially with the new piece of Isaiah Thomas when he
comes back. Um, but my cohord Dan here, he wants
to see the Rockets in the cell. I'm I'm just

(59:29):
over Caps world. Well, he stukey, he stuck his claim
on Rockets in the Celtics. They played a night by
the way, Uh, which team, which two teams would you
like to see in the finals? Full disclosure, I was
born in Boston, Massachusetts. No, but, but, but but no.

(59:53):
I mean, I think the Golden State Warriors are you know,
they're historically great team. It's they're so much fun to
watch Syesthetically, the way they play Steph Curry is brilliant
and it's amazing to watch all those unbelievable talents operate
in space play as unselfishly as they do. They all

(01:00:15):
fight hard on the defensive end, so there's still a
really fun team to watch. I get the fatigue factor
for sure, but I mean, at the end of the day,
it's kind of like I want Lebron James to have
an opponent that really makes it, brings the best out
of him, and this is year fifteen. We're still seeing
him put up absolutely ridiculous numbers. He's actually trying on

(01:00:39):
the defensive end so far this season. Um, So, I mean,
I don't really mind seeing the Warriors and the Calves.
I think it will probably still be those two teams.
Although before the season started I did predict that I
thought that the Houston Rockets would win it all, uh
and back too far off. Yeah, I don't want to
back too far off that prediction, but I wouldn't mind

(01:01:02):
seeing the Warriors and the and the Cavaliers and another
another finals rematch. Michael Penia, Vice Sports joining us here
on Fox Sports Radio. Easy from Salam, I'm Dan Buyer
in for Doug Gottlieb, as Doug's been doing they heard
all week long here on Fox Sports Radio on Fox
Sports One. Okay, let's talk Rockets Celtics. Then that's tonight.
If this was an NBA final, is this a seven

(01:01:24):
game series? Or which team is better than the other
if they were to face off in a best of
seven matchup? I mean, I think that the Rockets are,
you know, far and ahead better than the Celtics. Um. Uh,
you know they leave the NBA and point differential, Uh,
you know, the Celtics. It's a little difficult to kind

(01:01:46):
of gauge how good this team is. I mean, since
their streak ended their winning streak, they haven't really been
They've been slightly above average. Their defense has fallen off
a severe amount. They're turning the ball over war and
you know, their youth is kind of showing itself, you know,
Jas They're asking a lot out of Jason Tatum. Marcus

(01:02:08):
Smart is hitting more shots lately, but he's still Marcus Smart. Uh,
you know, Jalen Brown's dealing with an injury issue here,
So I mean they still have a ton of rookies
in their rotation. Kyrie Irving is brilliant. Al Horford is,
in my opinion, you know, a top three defensive player
this season. But at the end of the day, like
James Harden's the m v P. Chris Paul win healthy

(01:02:30):
is one of the two or three best point guards
in basketball. And just the versatility that this team plays with, uh,
you know p J. Tucker, Luke, ri Shard Up, Bomod Day,
Trevor Riza, Eric Gordon. I mean, they can just play
these ridiculous linemps. They shoot a ton of threees, they
play faster than anybody else. They really know their own identity.

(01:02:51):
So I mean, I love the Rockets. They think that
they're built to win a championship this season. I'm not
so sure I could say the same thing for the
Boston Celtics. Well, I will say this, from everything you've said,
there would be plenty of storylines if this was an
NBA Finals matchup, because you would have the James Harden
Chris Paul monkey on their back and the same thing
with Kyrie leaving and if you have Warriors Calves, I'm

(01:03:13):
just afraid we're gonna get another five game series with
Golden State coming out on top. So when I look
at these matchups and we look at the other options,
that's how I also weigh in factor in my decision
of why I'm not a big Calves Warriors fan because
I think the storylines have played out. I don't think
there's a lot more that we're going to learn. With
everything that Michael said, I think there'd be a heck
of a lot to learn. It was Rockets, I get it,
I understand all of that, but the fact of the

(01:03:34):
matter is, Uh, you said you're in favor of the
Rockets winning it all, But when they get up to
Golden State in the Western Conference Finals, either Rockets played
no defense, so they're they're basically outscoring teams, are outshooting teams,
especially from the three point line. It's one team in
the league they cannot outshoot and outscore and that would

(01:03:58):
be Golden State, who, oh, by the way, has defensive
players who play lockdown defense. So in in my opinion,
in my estimation, how could a team that's so heavily
offensive compete with the team that's pretty much the same
offensively but also plays defense in Golden State. My My,

(01:04:18):
the thing there is that the Rockets are actually playing defense.
This year ranked seven, the ranked seventh and in defensive rating.
Last year they were six teens. The year before that
they were twenty one. So I mean they're improving on
that end. Uh. You know, James Sarton is actually trying
a little bit more. Well that's up for interpretation, but no,

(01:04:40):
I mean the guys that I mentioned earlier, the guys
they added Bob Moodey and p J. Tucker, they just
bring such a tenacity that's really altered the culture there. Uh.
You know, they lock in when they need to switch.
They're smart enough to know when they're not supposed to switch.
Ryan Anderson is trying like hell. On the defensive end,
they have a lot of stout. They have a lot

(01:05:01):
of stout post offenders that can't really be bullied on switches,
like Chris Paul and Eric Gordon. So I mean, I
kind of like their defensive versatility. I think that they
match up pretty well as well as any team can
with the Golden State Warriors. But I mean that being said,
if if they were to face off against each other,
I do think that it would be it would come

(01:05:22):
down to just who made more threes. Basically, Gonna wrap
up with my Kipinia of Vice Sports covering the NBA
just with this one. Is the bloom off the seventies
sixers as of late? Or is there something to take
out of their recent slide where uh, they've at least
been competitive in games, whether it be against the Cavaliers
or the Raptors. Um, But is the bloom off Philadelphia

(01:05:45):
right now? I didn't think the Philadelphia seventy sixers are
going to make the playoffs this year in part because
of you know, injury concerns to Joel indeed, but then
also just you know, they're not an experienced basketball team
as good as Ben Simmons is on both ends. Um,
you know, the veterans that they've brought in, it's this

(01:06:07):
is they've only played together for you know, a couple
of months now. So I was never really that high
on them. I think they have a ton of talent um,
you know, but I mean if you just look at
like their turnover numbers, they're they're they're incredibly sloppy with
the basketball, um and they don't have quite enough talent
all around to kind of make up for that inexperience.

(01:06:28):
But I don't know. I mean, the future is still
really bright for this team, you know. I think they
there's a lot of hype coming into this season, but
you know, even if they don't make the playoffs this year,
they still have an extremely bright future. He's the Ghost

Vice Sports as we dove into the association. Find him
on Twitter at Michael the Opinion. Michael, thanks so much

(01:06:50):
for the time. Happy New Year, and we'll talk to
you soon. Thanks Mike YouTube YouTube guys, thanks a lot.
He's a little bit higher on the Rockets than you are. Yeah,
come on, man, you know better. That would be from Salama.
I'm Dan Buyer. I know another guy who was high
on the Rockets. That would be David Gascon. Oh. Hell though,

(01:07:10):
he's here to give us the latest of what's happening
in the world this sport. Now. I wish we could
see like old school Phoenix Suns in this current Houston
Rockets team going out in the Western Conference. That'd be
kind of fun, that'd be. But anyways, I digress. We
go to college football, and I blow out right now. One.
It'll be a by right side blasting off of landing
and he gets into the end zone for a touchdown.

(01:07:31):
Zach Aby for the fifth time today. Yeah, that's a
street mugging right now. Forty nine unanswered points by Navy.
They get sixty four carries so far for four d
and six yards in the sevent t d s. They're
up on Virginia seven with about nine minutes to play
in the fourth quarter. Off the field of play in Nebraska,

(01:07:51):
quarterback Tenner Lee says he'll end of the NFL draft
and speaking of the National Football League, it's not breaking
news but kind of expected. The Pittsburgh Steelers expecting to
hold out Ben Roethlisberger and Levy on Bella for their
finale on Sunday to get them serious geared for postseason play.
New York Giants have a new general manager. Dave Getleman
is their guy. Get Leman among three guys that were

(01:08:12):
interviewed for the hiring process, but the Giants had him
as the number one. In Miami. Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler
says will return to the NFL next season, but only
if he is a starter in major League Baseball, something
that we could talk about as the week goes along.
A sports photographer who snaps pictures for Twins daily as
accused Minnesota Twins third baseman macguil So no of sexual misconduct. Gentlemen,

(01:08:36):
thanks to the Latest Day that man, keep your hands
to you. So that's that's good advice for me from Salam.
I'm Dan Buyer. That is David Gascott with the Latest
Year on the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
When we just were talking NBA with Michael Pena. This
is he when he was bringing up all of the
scenarios that you could have with the Rockets and Celtics

(01:08:57):
from even though it wouldn't be one too for the
best teams in the NBA, I still think we get more,
we get more excitement, it's fresh, it's different. I fully
expect the Warriors to be there, but even if you
put the Celtics up against the Warriors, it's something new
and it's something different. And if the Warriors swept the Celtics,

(01:09:17):
I don't think there's much difference at all than the
Warriors going through the Cavaliers. In for there is a difference,
there is a difference because now we're talking about legacies
and we're talking about one of the greatest players ever
to play in Lebron James trying to do something miraculous
like he tried to um last year and two years ago,

(01:09:38):
three years ago actually when he averaged a triple double
in the finals, when he's by himself. I mean, looking
at performances like that, that's exciting. You know, whether they
pan out for you or not, it is what it is.
But that's exciting. It was one person on that court
who was determined not to get swept, right, and that's

(01:10:00):
and and you give it. Oh, that's you know, that's
a consolation prize. But if you put the Celtics up
against Golden State in the finals, do you think the
Celtics can win a game. I'm not saying that they
would win a game, but at least it would give
us something to see. Okay, what does Boston do now
in the off season? Really, that's what you want to see. Well,
we know what they're gonna do. They don't have to
do anything in the off season. They got a marquee player.

(01:10:21):
That's not even it's the same narrative that you would
get that you had with the Calves when Lebron James
had to carry them the first time in the finals
and it didn't work out in Golden State ends up
winning in five games. That's what you would have in
this scenario. It's better it. We've already seen Lebron try
to carry the Cavaliers. We've already seen that and it
hasn't worked out. They went out. He added his best

(01:10:42):
friend in Dwyane. Wait, we don't know what's going on
in Derek Rose. Maybe he comes back, We we don't know.
But then you have the caveat. You have the missing
piece that we don't know about, the great unknown, and
that's five ft for and three quarter inch uh Isaiah Thomas.
We don't know what this team is gonna look like
without him. So the fact that you want to write
him off before we even get a taste of of

(01:11:05):
what type of you know team they can be with him,
you know, give me a new menu item. That's what
I want that that's that's you tied to eating at
the same sushi restaurant. Yes, it's this, This is now
the same that we have what we have gotten, and
I think that I don't think anybody expects anything from
Dwyane Wade. I don't think that anybody really expects anything

(01:11:27):
from Kevin Love. Isaiah Thomas is really the question mark,
and you're just hoping that Isaiah Thomas can play out
of his mind and that that he can play he
can play basketball. We we know what he is. He's
been that since he's been in the least since he
was at the Kings. He's a score. We know that
the gap between the Warriors and everyone else is significant,
and I just don't think that it matters when you

(01:11:51):
are looking at I don't think if it matters that
the Cavaliers would come there. I'm just saying if you
at least gotten new blood, or if the Rockets somehow
knocked off the Warriors. And I know you think that's
physically impossible and there's no way that that would happen,
But if it did happen, for the sake of this argument,
you now have a Rockets Warriors rivalry that carries over
into the next season. Who knows where Lebron James goes.

(01:12:13):
And if the Celtics were able to make it through,
maybe they There's so many different branches that would then
pop out of great storylines in the n b A
that it just don't think it's good for the league
to have Warriors Cavaliers again, and there's just it comes
to a dead end. It ends the same way it
did last year, and then it ends for the Cavaliers,
and then you go into next season saying, Okay, the

(01:12:34):
Warriors are the best team again and there's no new
blood if the Celtics can make a push, and just
I think that a Celtics team or or a Rockets
team making a push against one of the other two
and not having the Casine Warriors would just be better
for the NBA. I get it. I understand what you're saying.
I like good basketball. I think those two teams, as
exhibited on Christmas Day, they can play good basket, great

(01:12:55):
basketball together. We're we've been talking for the last four
days about a no call, right because that's how close
and intense that game was. We're not talking about anything else.
We're talking about the fact that the league put out
his you know, two minute report about you know, yeah,
we missed two calls on that last thing. It became
a whole big issue because that game did mean something,

(01:13:19):
and and and in the time where at this time,
games aren't that important? That game meant something in in
terms of these are the two best teams in the
NBA and they're closer, then we think they are together.
And that's I think that's the intriguing part of it.
Let me just pose this question to you, if the

(01:13:42):
if in this world that you get what you want
and you get Calves Warriors again and the Calves win,
does that change Lebron's decision two? Maybe go elsewhere? No,
I think it makes it easier. And then because he
gave them two titles, two titles and a team places
where there were there are and then and then then

(01:14:03):
then there's no resolution, then they end up to two
and then love you, We're gonna move on. I'm going
to l a play with the Lakers. That storyline ends
with an unfulfilling ending, because then you're like, okay, it
was the best of best of four NBA Final series
that they split it two and they just ended it.

(01:14:23):
That would be an unfulfilling ending. We wouldn't get to
see if Lebron James would end up winning more titles
over the Golden State Warriors. I mean, you can win
titles in Los Angeles, Come on, man, sure it wou'd
be a Western Conference final. That's fine, and then but
you wouldn't get to kno Warriors. That Warriors team is
not going to be the same Warriors team. Like next
year they that may not be the same Warriors team, right,

(01:14:46):
So just just think about that, like we're trying to
hold these teams together to compete with this team. They
may not look the same next year. So why would
you why would you even do that? Well that these
teams have changed their looks as I mean, the Cavaliers
are different than they are you know other years. It's
we're doing hypotheticals. Ivram Evram's gonna stay in his lane.

(01:15:09):
I'm gonna stay in mind. This is the dog Got
Leap Show on Fox Sports Radio. Get from on Twitter,
at e from Salam, I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox.
Navy by the way, dominating Virginia and the Military Bowl.
I think Virginia is wearing their North Korea jersey's because
it's so one sided for the Navy. You get that,
you get that, that's a little yeah, yeah, there we go.

(01:15:29):
Um about a minute to go, midshipman running out the clock.
It is the Doug Gottlieb Show. On Fox Sports Radio
in the NBA's two Minute Reports, is that really needed? Well,
Draymond Green has an opinion, as he does on everything
we hear from the star forward of the Warriors. Next
year on Fox Sports Radio, It's the Dog Gotli Show
on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Buyer sitting alongside me

(01:15:50):
from salam Bowling with he from comes up in about
thirty minutes or so. Round two where points are double.
Evram's gotta figure out if it's a bowl game or
a bowling alley somewhere in the United States. We have
some fun with that. But just because Doug isn't here
doesn't mean we stop what Doug likes to do at
this time of every show. And this is where we

(01:16:14):
take a piece of audio, either from Fox Sports One,
even Big Fox, or even here on Fox Sports Radio,
replay it back to you and it usually has to
do with the hot topic in the world of sports.
In the topic today surrounds the NBA's two Minute Report
because after Christmas Day, the NBA's two Minute Report came
out and it was revealed that in that Cavaliers Warriors

(01:16:35):
game on Christmas Day, Lebron James was fouled by Kevin
Durant three times in the final two minutes, and in
fact was followed twice on a play that happened with
about thirty seconds left in the game. Well at it
after the report comes out, there's really nothing you could
do about it. Warriors were winners. Draymond Green of the Warriors,
chiming in on the NBA's two minute reports. Why would

(01:16:56):
you just just the last two minutes of the game.
What about the call that was missed in the score?
What about the call that was missing the third quarter?
That call could have started a whole run for and
change the entire game. So I think it's very reportless.
It makes no sense. Lebron can't go back and get
to play over and get two three though, So who
doesn't help. That's not transparency if anything, is putting the

(01:17:18):
official on the spot that Mr car But you're not
gonna put them on a spot in the third quarter,
So why act like you blaming the game on them?
So that was Draymond Green on the two minute reports
and what's really the point of them? This was Doug Gottlieb,
who is in for Colin Calvert on The Herd earlier
on Fox Sports Radio NBA games are more weighted based
upon the fourth quarter. Right turn on any NBA game,

(01:17:41):
And though the product is better this year. I pointed
this out on Collin's couch before, and I'll point it
out to you now. The product this year is the
best that I've seen since the Jordan era, and probably
Night and Night out even better. Why they spaced out
the games like just the human body. You can't play
back to back to back to back games and travel
of the like. He just can't do it. And by

(01:18:02):
by smartly scheduling and giving in another week and giving guys,
it's given teams a chance to practice, chance to be rested.
It's just better because of it, absolutely better because of um.
But even those games you get to the fourth quarter,
you turn on, you have NBA League pass. Fourth quarter
games almost always tied. Both teams start to play harder,

(01:18:24):
and the game has waited. Fourth quarter more important than
the rest of him. He's not wrong. A call in
the third quarter ty putting a guy on the bench,
making a guy play passively, that can change a game,
can change the course of history. But the last two
minutes is the most important. It is the most important,
But it's still pointless for and I agree with Draymond Green.

(01:18:46):
It's like if I bring you into my house, he from,
and I give you a tour of the house, and
I say, hey, all right, this is the house. This
is the living room, and this is the kitchen. I
don't want to show you anything else because I'm hiding
all of the bad stuff in that house. I don't
want you to see. But you didn't get a tour
of my house. I just showed you what I wanted
you to see. That's what the NBA, I feel, is
doing it. Nothing is being done of it. His point

(01:19:09):
of reviewing the entire forty eight minutes is a fact
like if there are issues that there are problems made earlier,
bad calls made earlier in the game, they can have
a trigger effect and can also determine on how things
play out. I think Draymond Green is on the money
with this one. The two minute reports are pointless, especially
because you can't go back and do anything about it.
As well, well, it's probably one of the smartest things.

(01:19:29):
Are the smartest couple of comments I've ever heard from
Draymond Green. That's exactly right. Why chastise the referee for
the last two minutes. I get it, and especially in
a tight game, those calls down our lack of calls
down the stretch have a bearing on the game. But
he's right, early in the game things have happened. I
remember him and crowd or tussled in in the middle

(01:19:51):
of the lane. The body slammed each other. No call
was called there, you know, that could have sent one
guy to the bench. Would an earlier call. Why didn't
they call the second technical on on Kevin Durant when
he shoved uh uh um called it on with the
with the ball, right, I mean that's purely a technical call.

(01:20:12):
So and don't just look at you know, the calls
are lack of calls down the last two minutes because
it was things that happened in their games. Calls that
were made or are there are weren't made that could
have affected you know, the game in in general. And
there's also the fact is is what changes? What does
the two minutes for what? Exactly? Nothing changed separates the

(01:20:35):
league from the referees. Hey, they were wrong, they should
have done this. It's not us, We're holding them accountable.
That's what that does. It drives of wedge between the
front office and the referee. And I think if you
were to ask the referee, would he make the same
call tenada ten times? You would have done the same
exact thing. There's not There's not a better process that
comes from it either. There's not a new a new

(01:20:56):
way of how they look at things. All it is
is just the b A trying to make you feel
like they are doing what they can do, and that
the NBA referees around the up and up. There's nothing
that comes from it whatsoever. And that's what makes it pointless.
And that's why Draymond Green is correct. Wow, we're agreeing
with each other and we're agreeing with Draymond Green. What
the heck is happening in this world? This is the

(01:21:19):
Doug Gottli Show at Fox Sports Radio, getting a set
for a week seventeen where Matt Ryan sure has a
heck of a lot on the line. Not only does
the Falcons quarterback need a victory first team to go
to the postseason, probably needs a victory to help his legacy.
A year after being the National Football League's Most Valuable Player,
Belcons they're still searching for an identity. What the heck

(01:21:40):
is the identity of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's been a
conversation from and I have had throughout this show today,
and it always then goes back to the NBA Finals
and what you want Cavaliers or Warriors. There is a
lot of basketball to be played as we are here
on December. But when you look at what the Cavaliers
did last nights to the Sacramento Kings, or I should

(01:22:01):
say what the Kings did to the Cavaliers, you start
scratching your head and saying, really, how good is Cleveland
even without Isaiah Thomas, and we know he's on the horizon.
There's no way that you should be losing by fourteen
points to the Sacramental Kings. If you're the Calves, it
doesn't matter. It doesn't matter on December December seven, it

(01:22:22):
doesn't matter if you lose to the Kings by forty
or one. It just doesn't matter. I mean, look in
the finals they got Cleveland got blown out by twenty
five points and then came back in one like it.
And that's in the finals. You're talking about something that's
happening in December. Lebron James took twelve shots. If that

(01:22:49):
game mattered, do you think Lebron James would have took
twelve shots. No, right, No, he wouldn't know. He wouldn't
think about the think about how many shots he took
on Christmas Day? Al Right, that game mad it to him.
Even though it's on Christmas Day in December. That game mattered.
Lebron James wanted to win that game, and he played
forty minutes in that game, and he wanted to win

(01:23:10):
that game. They end up losing. It's been all of
this big controversy about, you know, the last two minutes
and the no calls and so on and so forth,
because that meant something to him. If that same play
would have happened last night in the King's Game, no
one would be talking about it. Don't you think though,
that there is more of a question about the Cavaliers

(01:23:33):
this year because Kyrie Irving isn't there. At least last year,
we saw what they didn't in the first year that
Kevin loved, Lebron James and Kyrie Irving all played together,
even though they didn't finish things off in the finals
because love was heard against the Celtics and then Kyrie
heard his knee. You had an idea, and you had
an idea the next year then when they rallied from

(01:23:54):
down three one, and then you knew what they were
last year going into the NBA Finals. He just didn't
know what the war years were. But don't you think
that there is more of a question about the Cavaliers
because of the new faces, because of the new pieces,
that it isn't necessarily a given that they are. I mean,
Dwyane Wade's name has been brought up as a big highlight,

(01:24:15):
and it's a big name to add to the Cavaliers.
But do we really expect Dwayne Wade to score twenty
five points in an MBA Finals game? No? I don't
think that we do. I think they do, and I
think he can really Can he do it for an
entire season? Absolutely not, But if you get him in
a seven game series, this is still someone with extraordinary talent. Okay,

(01:24:37):
He's still someone who doesn't have to be the alpha.
He doesn't have to be the head. All he has
to do is be a complimentary piece. And I'll tell
you what, They'll have more faith in Dwyane Wade down
stretches in games and they would in J. R. Smith
Because sometimes you just don't know who shows up with
you would you rather have shoot though? I mean, I

(01:24:58):
I know that like JR. Can give you all for twelve,
but I I just say, but look the difference that
This is the difference between Dwyane and and and JR.
So if if JR. Is having one of those one
for twelve nights, He's going to continually shoot from the outside. Right,
If Dwyane Wade is one for six, what's his next move?

(01:25:20):
Pump fake, get him in the air, go to the
free throw line, pump fake, go around him, get to
the rim. That's the difference in mentality and maturity, and
someone like Dwyane Wade or j R. Smith, Jerry Smith
would just continue to pull up twenty footer like that's
just him, that's just makeup. He spends most of his
time outside on the three point line, so that's what

(01:25:42):
it is. Now. He won't try to get himself out
of it by going to the rim. He can. He
won't try to get himself out of it by getting
to the free throw line. He can. It's just a
different in mentality. And I think in the long run,
in a series, in the playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers will
have more trust in Dwyane Wade to do the things
necessary to continue to score and move the offense forward. Well,

(01:26:04):
I think that there are serious questions about the Cavaliers
and what their chemistry actually will be. Michael pena Vice
Sports who covers the NBA, agreed more with what Ephraim
saw last night from the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Sacramento
Kings and what it means the long term for the Calves. Uh,
this is just the season's barely started yet. Uh, you know,

(01:26:26):
the Isaiah Thomas is Helse is kind of going to
probably dictate a lot more of of their season and
when games really start to matter. Uh, you know, this
is a team that's been to the veteran team that's
been to the finals a few years in a row now,
and you know, it's just it's it's the dog days

(01:26:46):
are about to come. And I don't know how focused
they were for that one, So I wouldn't be too concerned.
I think that, you know, the winning streak that they
were on a little while ago was a really good
sign for them to get back on track at the
defense going. So it's us one game, one game and
out of two, it's not that big of a deal.
They're my opinion sides with you, But I do think

(01:27:06):
the NBA inside, I'm just saying you know that, yeah,
you got that. That going forward. But when it comes
to the Eastern Conference Finals and the Cavaliers put up
a stinker, do so in the semifinals that they have
to face the Raptors or the Milwaukee Bucks be here
before face there's just there's more question marks to the
Cavaliers than I think people want to admit. We don't

(01:27:28):
want to be fooled again because we've seen it for
the last three years. It reminds me of when a
Super Bowl ends and immediately after that. We'll take this
past year, well, immediately after the Super Bowl fifty one
Patriots win the Super Bowl. If you had to make
a pick for the next season, what are you gonna win? Oh, Patriots,
Well I just did it ten minutes ago. Like you're

(01:27:50):
going to make a pick, You've already forgotten that they
were down three in that game, and and so you
feel like you don't want to be fool that you
the most recent is what you have seen, and that
is always going to stay in your mind. You've seen
the Cavaliers in the last three NBA Finals. They still
have Lebron James, They're gonna go to four. But I
just don't think it's that easy this time around, with
the different pieces that they have and the question marks

(01:28:10):
they have, And and I know Michael joined us and
said the Kings have been better over the last month.
They're still dead last in the NBA and scoring and
put up a hundred and nine last night on the Cavaliers.
I think that there's cost for concern. Well, we gotta
remember last year one of the biggest knocks on Lebron
and his Cavaliers team is they sometimes cruised defensively. They
didn't turn that defensive execution and intensity up throughout the year,

(01:28:34):
but when we got to the playoffs, it was a
different team. They were saying, well, they might not be
able to turn it on and turn it off and
so on and so forth. So this is just instead
of these guys sitting out games, the NBA altered the
schedule so they don't there's not as many back to
bags and you find halfway across the country and you know,
playing back to back games to get these guys rest,

(01:28:55):
So what do you do. Sometimes you have to rest
within the game and I'm not saying they're out there,
are you know, not involved in the game, But I'm
saying maybe in December, on December twenty six, December seven,
I'm not gonna chase zag Randolph down and dribble his
lay up off the glass. Yeah. Yeah. And you also

(01:29:18):
like James Harden taking off every other trip down the court,
because you say that sometimes you don't even cross half
court and I'm like, God, look, but Harden in the
Rockets face the Celtics tonight, and that's where the conversation
ends up bleeding because you've got the Rockets and you've
got the Celtics really on the verge or trying to
at least be on the heels of the Cavaliers and
Warriors in each respective conference. But when you have a

(01:29:41):
Rocket Celtics matchup, like you've got tonight in Boston, and
what is a it's a lighter night in the NBA.
Thursday's usually are it's Wednesday. It's the busy night, but
a lighter night. Five games tonight, And of course t
NT has their coverage, But you get Rockets Celtics tonight,
you get Nicks going up against the Spurs, you got Bucks,
he Wolves, and the Sixers and Blazers. It's a good
night of basketball in the NBA. If you had Rockets

(01:30:02):
Celtics in the NBA Finals, I think that that's intriguing
for a lot of reasons, especially because you'd have three
players in the backcourt that are trying to make a
name for themselves, Harden and Paul trying to get their
first NBA title, and then you'd have Kyrie trying to
win on his own, and I just think the storylines
would be better and what you could see tonight a
Rocket Celtics matchup maybe spanning seven games in June, but

(01:30:24):
you would go see the Imagine Dragons the same night
as the second game in the NBA Finals if this
was the final. I'm just I'm just letting you know
you'd go see uh, Bootsy Bellows and the Magical Dragons
at the Amphitheater and then maybe catch the highlights of
that game, that game two of the finals. It's not
musty TV, right, That's what I'm trying to say. I'm

(01:30:46):
saying that you're going to make time to watch another
Calves Golden State UH Finals, whether you're a fan of
either those teams or not, because you want to see
how this thing is gonna play out. Is does Lebron
have superpowers? Is he going to be able again to
you know, snatch a championship away from the dominant Golden

(01:31:10):
State team, or is this the the time that Kevin
Gurnett continues to to you know, exceed everyone's you know,
the thoughts of him being the second best player in
the in league and really take over that crown as
being the best player in the league. And I've said
it here before, I think Kevin Durant is the only unstoppable,

(01:31:32):
unguardable force in the NBA. Well, we have become now
accustomed to seeing Lebron James in the NBA Finals, and
maybe we are going to start to become accustomed to
Kevin Durant in the NBA Finals. But there's gonna be
a point in the Super Bowl where you're not gonna
have Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. We've become accustomed to
having one of those guys in the Super Bowl to
try to help carry the narrative of what we have.

(01:31:54):
And once they go away, and it could be this
year and the same thing from the finals, you're gonna
have to develop new store relnes and I think now
is the perfect time to do that. With Kevin Durant
in your take on him of being the unstoppable force,
why not all of us and start a new rivalry
with the Boston Celtics. Why not start that now because
the rivalry with the Cavaliers is dead after this season.

(01:32:17):
If Lebron James leaves Cleveland, which I expect him to
do so so all of a sudden, now that storyline stops,
and then you've got Kevin Durant, the unstoppable force, not
facing any other forces because the story hasn't continued. And
that's what I think you could get if you had
a Celtics, If you had a Celtics team facing the
Warriors in the finals, even if the Golden State would

(01:32:37):
end up sweeping them, you could have that same thing
if the Rockets upset the Warriors in the Western Conference finals.
I just think it's better for the NBA and better
as things would go on for the NBA Finals. It's
better for the NBA. I'm looking for better for the fans.
That's what I want to say. You know, I don't
care about the n b A. I want to I
want to see, you know, great basketball on television. Yeah,

(01:32:59):
I I do too, and I think that we would
get that it may not be the best of the best,
but the best against the best at this point in time,
if there's the finals without the Lebron James, it's not
the best in It's just not can you agree with that?
He's Yeah, he's the best player in the NBA, So
how can it be the best if he's not involved
in the finals. If Kevin Duran and in Golden State

(01:33:21):
are not in the finals, that's the that's that's not
the point. If if the best of it's it's different
if it's a player versus a team, because Lebron may
be the best player, but his team doesn't compare to
what Golden State is. That's that that's what team does,
correct and and and that's why. That's why I think

(01:33:41):
if you can develop a new storyline, because the Lebron
storyline ends up ending like this, that it's better to
see if, hey, if the Celtics do get a healthy
Gordon Hayward, what do they do in the off season.
It's the NBA. This season, the ratings are up because
there are more teams that seem to be in play,
and there are more. The Rockets are are better of
the thunder have a new look. The Celtics have a

(01:34:02):
new look. Last year we had none of that. It
was Warriors and calves and the only thing we wanted
to see was Kevin Durant's return to Oklahoma City. He's
the only good storyline you had in the NBA. Now
we've got different players and different people in spots. I
think that can only help the NBA, and I think
something like this would be better because more people and
more teams are involved. Easy from Salam, I'm Dan Buyer.

(01:34:24):
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Thanks for letting me
have the last word on that. I appreciate that out.
I was going to say something else, but I guess,
I guess that's off the table for me. Now, oh
you're You're off the table. But you're gonna be in
the spotlight. You're gonna be in the hot seat because
Bowling Yes with E from comes up in a matter
of minutes. I want to let you know you can

(01:34:44):
reach us on Twitter. I'm at Dan Buyer. On Fox,
you can get from at from Salam. You can always
listen to us on the I Heart Radio app and
also on Sirius XM Channel three. What bowl game is
the best of the bunch? Well from will tell you
next here on Fox Sports Radio The Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio Easy from Salam I'm Dan Buyer. Dave Gettleman,

(01:35:07):
the new general manager of the New York Giants. Some
breaking news that Dave gascon or update anchor had a
little while ago. Will have Dave give us the latest
of what's happening, not only in the NFL, button college football,
and of course Dave's gonna be touching on the bowl
games that are going on. Something that from Loves how
many bowl games did you play in and said at

(01:35:28):
Antego stage, I only played in one bowl in my life,
and that was the Super Bowl. No, no bowl games, No,
because there was seven. There was seven bowl games. That's
that's right, that's right. You mean they weren't taking the
fourth place team for the Mountain West or were you
in the whack? Shame on you? Okay, watch your mouth. Okay,

(01:35:51):
I mean we went ten in two one year and
you didn't go too. That's what That's what I'm saying.
You got six and six going to bowl games. It's
only like you said, only three teams they were Bowl
eligible that didn't go to bowl games this year. Western Michigan,
who was in the New Year's six last year, didn't
get in this year. You in Texas, San Antonio. I

(01:36:13):
believe Buffalo was the other school. Yeah, it's it's maybe,
I'm maybe that's one bitter and and you know over
all of these extra and excess bowl games, well it's
it's if you're six and six, you don't deserve to
be in a bowl game. Period. Fair enough. Make it
eight wins, right, make bowl eligibility eight wins. I don't know,

(01:36:33):
like especially with the big bowls when they were losing money.
I don't know how these smaller bulls make money. I
have I have no idea how it works. And those
smaller balls are also what gets under from skin because
he wants to know what really is a bowl and
what isn't. And that's why we are now going bowling
with from. Yes, it's that time where we are going

(01:36:57):
bowling with e from round number two on Box Sports Radio.
Round number one had e From get five out of
six points as you were trying to guess if it's
a bowl game or a bowling alley. That's what you
are trying to or a bowling center or they call
him now the family fund centers. Right, it's no longer

(01:37:19):
just a bowling alley. It's a family fund center. But
he from is going to try to guess it is
a bowl game to a bowling alley. The first round,
you nailed the Frisc Frisco Bowl as an actual bowl game,
which it was. You also nailed at the Bay Side
Bowl is a bowling alley which is located in Portland, Maine.

(01:37:39):
So now we will give you other options that are
worth two points. These are not worth two points from
bowl game or bowling alley. Are you ready? The West
Acres Bowl? Is that a bowling alley or a bowl
game bowling alley? That would be correct. It is a

(01:38:03):
bowling alley in Fargo, North Dakota. The West Acres Boll
watch next year that becomes a bowl game in West
Acres Bowl game between North Southeast Wichita Tech against uh
Mulberry uh College North South That there's no way they'd

(01:38:26):
fit that in the end zone. By the way, there's
no way that that would that would get in there.
All right, Okay, what about Big Daddy's Sunset Bowl. Big
Daddy Sunset Bowl. Is that a bowl game or a
bowling alley? As a bowling alley that is double points again,
that is a bowling alley. That was tricky because I

(01:38:47):
was thinking, like I was like, what kind of bowling
alley would be named that? But look, but look, so
I'm thinking, Okay, big Daddy dot Com Like, okay, did
they sponsor at work? Don't search big Daddy dot Com.
That's all I'm saying. You never know where it could
lead you. I don't know what it is, but Big

(01:39:09):
Daddy Sunset Ball. Hey, I'm just looking out for everyone.
Big Daddy. Big Daddy Sunset Bowl is in Pueblo, Colorado. Yeah,
I love to say. I love to say Pueblo. By
the way, that big Big Daddy's probably like five four pounds. No,
that would be that would be uh wait, how big?

(01:39:30):
Did you say? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's I love those
guys named tiny again they're like six eight that's tiny. Okay.
What about the Tomahawk Bowl? That is a bowl game? No?

(01:39:51):
Is it the Tomahawk Ball In my neck of the woods,
just a few miles away from my hometown in Tomahawk, Wisconsin,
it would be the Tomahawk On Friday night. Oh no,
I didn't go to Tomahaws how much the town north
that's of of my hometown. The you got your rolling, Dan.
The Tomahawk Bowl is a bowling alley in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

(01:40:13):
You got four points in the second to go along
with your five. What about the Bahamas Bowls? That is
the Bahamas Bowl. Unfortunately Pompeye's no longer is a sponsor
of it. It used to be the Popeye's Bahamas Bowl,
but that featured Ohio and you a b earlier this.
Do they have a Popeye's Chicken in the Bahamas? I

(01:40:35):
don't think so. I'm not sure. I've never been to
the Bahamas, but I know that they sponsored it. That
makes sense, the Popeye's Bahama Bowl, and there's no Popeyes
on the island. Hey, if you could get your sponsorship
out there, why not? Maybe maybe it opened with the
problem that I'm having. It just doesn't make sense, right,

(01:40:56):
It just doesn't make sense. You got your two points there,
so you've got six points total of eleven for the round.
The Georgetown Bowl, Oh, maybe it's in Washington, d C.
Maybe it's in the Nation's capital, or it could be
a family fund center where people going old birthday parties.

(01:41:17):
The George Tom Ball. Is it a bowl game or
a bowling alley? It is a bowling alley. There is
a strike for e from give them two more points.
You guys tricked down that one as well. Are you good?
Eric and Bobo? You guys, I was, I was bowling.

(01:41:37):
I was on the fence. That was tough. Ye. Well,
if you're in four way in Indiana, you're gonna want
to go to the Georgetown Bowl because that's where it
is where they would say Georgetown Bowl. Yeah, full on
Sunday afternoons. Eight points for from We've got We've got
three more. What about the Kimplea Bowl Amelia Bowl, that

(01:42:00):
would be the Chameleon Yeah, the Camellia Bowl. Is that
a bowl or a bowling owl? That's a bowl game.
The Camellia Bowl is a bowl game. Yes, it is
the Camellia Bowl. This year was quite a contest. Tennessee

(01:42:21):
knocked off Arkansas State in that matchup that the Camellia Bowl,
I believe played in Montgomery, Alabama. The Gasparilla Bowl, as
he from salam now is ten points after nailing the
Camellia the Gasparilla Bowling Alley. The Gasparilla Bowl is no,

(01:42:47):
it is a bowl game in St. Petersburg, Florida, home
of the Tampa Bay Rays. Bobo and Eric, you guys
get that one right. I usually go on the on
the on the lines of if I can't a the word,
I'm leading. What is it gas? What is Gasparilla Bowl?
What is the Gasparilla Temple beat Florida International in the

(01:43:10):
game about a week or so ago, Gasparilla boll I'm
not even sure. I thought it was a drink. I'm
not sure that that's Sasparilla. That's That's probably what I
was thinking with the Google of Gasparilla is the Gasparilla
Pirate Festival and it looks like this might be the
actual sponsor. Is the gas Perfect there it is? That's

(01:43:32):
the Gasparilla Well it's in Tampa Bay. So that was
like the Gascon Bowl or something that is funny that
could be a bowl game, the Gascon Bowl. I would
love to see what the gift bag for the Gascon
Bowl would would good way, Uh, we're gonna get some
lifting gloves. We're gonna get biker shorts, biker shorts, headband,

(01:44:00):
final bicycle find around and Dave, you can chime in
on this as well. Ten points Okay? Is he from
has fifteen points? This is the ten pointer final one
bowl game or bowling alley the Westgate Bowl. Oh my god,
the west Gate That is that? That is a bowl game, gentleman.

(01:44:22):
It is no bowling alley just outside of beautiful Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Westgate Bowl, is it it? I thought maybe that sounded
kind of like a hotel that you would think like
the Westgate group is the group that that do all
the time shares. They may, but they don't host a
bowl game. But you can't go bowling at the Westgate

(01:44:43):
Bowl just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ok. Fifteen points
for e From in bowling with e From here on
Fox Sports Radio on the Dug gottlid Show The Westgate Bowl.
I'm glad we did this so now people understand my
ratenists in terms of it's too it's too much. People

(01:45:04):
are we've done too much? He's it's too much easy
from Salav I'm Dan buyer. This is the d Gottlieb Show,
Week seventeen. For some NFL teams is a big deal
because they are fighting for their playoff lives. But what's
it like for the other side of the coin, for
people who just can't wait to get their seasons over with.
We find out next, but first David Gascon gives us
an update, and I'm sure the Military Bowl would the

(01:45:28):
real what yeah, what would be in the gift bag
of the Gascon boll Dave, I don't know. Apparently biker
shorts and headbands. You forgot, like goggles he from, like,
it's like some some goggles some I don't know. How
about Well for my ball I would definitely have like
an old school Nintendo or Genesis. I'm coming today. Yeah,
I'm coming to that ball game. That would be something

(01:45:49):
fit for for the youngsters these days, since they have
an appreciation of the of the old school stuff. Anyways, gentlemen,
underway right now. You at Oklahoma State leading Virginia three. Nothing.
That ballgame is just under way. The Military Bulls one sided.
Virginia returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Navy
went forty nine straight and throttle the Cavaliers forty nine
to seven. Later on tonight you'll get Stanford in t

(01:46:11):
see you at the Alamo Bowl. Now in the National
Football DeAndre Hopkins has expected him this week's seventeen for
the Houston Texans because of a calf injury. May be
the first time it was five year career he actually
misses a ballgame. In Atlanta, Falcons have held out center
Alex Mack out of practice today because of a calf injury.
But why. Receiver Julia Jones does say he's able to

(01:46:32):
go against the Panthers. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer says
Sam Bradford has expected to practice this week and the
big headline today in New York, New York Giants have
hired Dave Getleman as their general manager. He spent fifteen
seasons with the franchise and a couple with Carolina, but
back now in New York. Nebraska quarterback Tannili says he
is entering the NFL draft and one note in Major

(01:46:55):
League Baseball sports photographer who snaps photos for Twins daily
as a cue. Minnesota Twins third baseman mcguil so no
of sexual misconduct. He denies it. Thanks David. Yeah, that
Oklahoma State Virginia Tech games should be a dandy in
Orlando today. You mean the camping world, Yes, that's what
it is what is happening in the world. The Camping

(01:47:16):
World Ball of the day dandy shouldn't be a dandy,
I expected should be a good contest between a couple
of schools that can put some points on the board.
Instead of looking forward, I guess we can maybe just
not take a look back at last night in the NBA.
By the way, he'sy from Salam. I'm Dan Buyer. This
is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. But

(01:47:38):
we can look back to an old favorite here on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, you get to fill us

(01:47:59):
in on what life is like for a player in
Week seventeen of the National Football League. Both those that
are looking forward to the playoffs are trying to get
into the playoffs, and then what it's like for those
who just will have their season come to an end
after Sunday. All right, So first off, let's do the playoffs.
My first foray into the NFL, my rookie year. Uh,

(01:48:20):
we were making a run to the Super Bowl at
the time Week seventeen. I believe we played Miami the
last home game, and uh we had won our division.
We were gonna be number two. We had locked a
second seed up in the NFC with the Atlanta Falcons,
and we were the team that came out of nowhere,

(01:48:43):
so nobody even we weren't even on a blip. The
ninety Falcons weren't on a blip on anybody's radar at
the beginning of the season. So we wanted to go
out and play a really good Miami team and and
show them that we were for real. We went out
and dominated them. Uh, but it was all about preparing
for the bye. We gotta buy that week. So guys

(01:49:06):
were looking to take a couple of days off, but
not to the point of going to Vegas or going
anywhere crazy because we knew that we wanted we had
business to do, right, So the mindset was looked used
this time for especially those guys who started all year.
Uh myself included with you know, everybody in the starting lineups,

(01:49:27):
get some rest, let that body heal, Maybe get a
couple of workouts in, but let your body heal because
the playoffs is is its second season, so completely everything
you've done in the regular season has no bearing on
what you'll do moving forward. So the mindset was, hey,
let's relax. I myself spent a lot of time at

(01:49:48):
home and a lot of time at at other places
in Atlanta that were very popular at the time in
the nineties. All right, usually, well you can do the
Madden there is there's a lunch rush that said places,
but usually around ten thirty pm it's when the action started.

(01:50:12):
Very good places. Um. But on the flip side of that,
it just so happens the very next year, Week seventeen
didn't really mean anything to those exact same Atlanta Falcons. Uh,
we had a Super Bowl hangover and we were awful
that year. Of course, we lost Christian Uh Chris Chandler
are starting quarterback, and we lost Jamal Anderson are starting

(01:50:34):
running back, and had no replacements for either of those guys.
So this whole week I was perusing new cars, a
new car that I was gonna buy. I had this
thing that I would get a new car, you know,
every year, which was crazy. Um. And then where I
wanted to go with my my my boys for a vacation,

(01:50:56):
so I would this is back when dial up was around,
so you know exactly, so I would be looking for
good places to go didn't cost a lot of money
because I didn't really have that much money at the time.
I had a little pocket change, but nothing like these
kids are having today. So it was all about where

(01:51:18):
I wanted to go spend the next couple of weeks
and what I wanted to do with my friends, nothing
about football whatsoever. Like the coming to the game that
we were preparing for was just like a can we
have a running clock? No half time, just let's get
this thing over with. Was there ever a difference when

(01:51:39):
you knew the coaching staff wasn't going to stick around,
Because that I would think it would even be more
so it's it's all better off then now it's just
like you please, don't even talk to me, like and
in seventy two hours you won't even be here. So
it was it was literally like you're gonna do whatever, right,
You're gonna do whatever you can. Go out to practice
practice was more like a walk through. You had nothing

(01:52:00):
to play for, especially if you were playing another team
didn't have anything to play for. The one thing you
were playing for was not to get hurt. That was
the key. The last thing you wanted to do in
a season that didn't end in the playoffs is go
out in that last game and hurt yourself and destroy
any chance you would have at a at an off season,
good off long off season. Is there an understanding when

(01:52:22):
you face that other team, Like when you go across
the line, like the first snap, you're like there is
an understanding. It's like it's like a preseason game. And
I've told the story before. Um, I think it was
our second preseason game. I was in Houston and we
were playing the Arizona Cardinals. It was our first yeah,

(01:52:42):
second preseason game. Oh six, We're playing the Arizona Cardinals.
And a good friend of mine we played in Denver Broncos,
the Denver Broncos together bertrand Barry, they're all pro d N.
I called him up the night before the game. I said, hey,
look here, man, how are we doing this? He said, oh,
you already know Friday practice, baby, Friday practice. And for

(01:53:04):
those of you who don't know, Friday practice is a
light practice, no pads, just hands, a lot of hands,
a lot of footwork, no collisions. Right, But we're talking
about a preseason NFL game. And when I tell you,
when you turned that film on, Eric Winston, who was
a rookie at the time, was like he was amazed.

(01:53:27):
I was sitting there. It was so bad that I
was like, oh, maybe we went too far. It was
literally I would come up to the line and be like,
the ball is coming this way, come coming this way.
He was like, all right, we will lock arms and
run in place. We would jog our feet in place
and be like, okay, let me go, and then I

(01:53:48):
let him go here and chase the ball. I'd be like, hey,
we gotta pass coming up. He's like, all right, make
it look good. He would ripped under my arm, he like,
and let me go. And then I let him go
here and run and chase the ball. We did that
for a Cup series, and when I tell you, it
looked as bad as it sounds on film. Eric Winston,
who was a rookie at the time, turned and looked
at me and was like, you got to be kidding me.

(01:54:11):
I said, shut up, rookie, turn around, know your place, kie,
turn around? Good time? Man, Lord Love you already know
alady that is I'll tell you that story alone. She'll
tell you to not wager anything in Week seventeen of

(01:54:31):
the National Football League because you just don't know who's
going to try less. Right, think about this, Then you
go out there try as hard as you can you
know you don't have no tomorrow right, It's it's over.
You got the holes and your shatter your ankle. Now
you guys spend your whole offseason rehapping. Nobody wants that. No,

(01:54:52):
you want to go do something to get that bad
taste of that season out of your mouth. Go have
some fun, Go recuperate, and come back for a better season.

I'm Dan Buyer. We are in for Doug. As Doug
was covering the Herd on for Colin calharn on Fox
Sports One and right here on Fox Sports Radio, rolling
along with the bowl games in college football from his
All four Calves Warriors Version four. I am fed up
with the trilogy. I have had enough. Should be some
good MBA action tonight, Rockets and Celtics. He got Bucks

(01:55:58):
and te Wolves. Hey Nixon, Spurs could add some intrigue
as well. Always adding intrigue to the program is our
good friend David Gascons. He brings us the press, the press.
It allows Dave to give us an update of what's
happening in the world. Is sports, the ins and outs

(01:56:19):
of what's happening. Hey, Dave, what's going on? Man? We
are we are anxiously awaiting what you have cooked up
for us here in the press. All right, We're gonna
start off with something outside the sports world real quick,
to make us fill all a little bit smaller. Okay,
this is according to CNN's Money section, Apple now require
CEO Tim Cook to fly a private plane for quote

(01:56:42):
all business and personal travel. As they filed or they
filed with the SECGS yesterday, they said, quote. This policy
was implemented in the interests of security and efficiency based
on our global profile and a highly visible nature. Mr
Cook's role as CEO. So he must fly on a
private jet. Yes, he can't fly commercial. Right, maybe he

(01:57:06):
would leave his air drop open and people would give him,
you know, crazy things, which has happened before that. Yeah, geez,
that's I'll take it right, a handler, you know what
I'm saying, the driver, whatever it is. Anyways, gentlemen, we'll
go over to the National Football Actually, sports in general,

(01:57:26):
TV by the numbers has posted its top one prime
time telecast of seventeen. Can you guys ruttle off a
couple for me for the top ten? But super Bowls?
Super Bowls. One's gotta be Oscars. Oscars has tied for fifth.
Was Sunday Night Football and Game five of the NBA Finals. Okay,

(01:57:46):
that makes sense. Um Number two a f C Championship game.
That was Patriots in National Championship Game. No, not there.
In fact, three and four of the NFL Divisional rounds
on NBC and on CBS. Even Cowboys Packers wasn't. Yeah

(01:58:10):
she a little odd right? The wild Card game on
NBC is at eight. Oh. Number nine must have been
Broncos Colts on Thursday Night Football. A couple of weeks,
Fox owns it World Series game number seven. Oh wow, yeah,
I can see that. And then number ten is a
college football playoff championship game. Where was the Survivor finale? Uh? Survivor?

(01:58:35):
I don't know, but I will see a watch that
was really good? How about that Ben Couples from an amazing,
amazing race a man. Yeah, dominated by the world's sports
everything else, all right, Well, and that's why football is king. Yeah,

(01:58:56):
no doubt about it. I was really shocked though, because
number five of that tie with the Oscars in Game
five of the finals was Sunday Night Football, September ten,
Giants and Cowboys. Yeah well, I mean look, it was
opening weekend. It's number one show on five different networks
for a reason. People love it. Say what you want
about this being a down year and ratings via whatever

(01:59:18):
we watched, No matter what, Right, We'll switch on over
to what's going on the on the field to play.
And your Giants have an new general manager, Dave Gettlman.
He would with the organization for fifteen years, spent a
handful of the Carolina Panthers, but now he's back in
the Big Apple. Help Carolina get to uh Super Bowl
fifty was kind of shockingly dismissed as the general manager.

(01:59:39):
There have been some questions where was the Josh Norman
situation where they had the franchise take placed on him
and then rescinded it. Other issues. Dave Getleman's gotta fix
a lot when he gets to New York. Will the
first order of business be what to do with Eli
Manning Apple? Well, that's we are, that's a done deal.
We call that writing on the wall. I'm guessing that

(02:00:02):
Dave Gentleman won't be reviewing Week seventeen film that's Dancing
with the Stars. You're gonna get for the Giants Redskins
to wrap up the season. Guys, there's gonna be plenty
of speculation who would be the quarterbacks in eighteen, A
lot of luck, a lot of looking at Alex Smith
right now, especially with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, but

(02:00:24):
also in Miami. Dolphins quarterback Jake Cutler says he would
be down and return to the league, but only as
a starter. And as we all know, Bryan Tannell well
done for the season, but he is expected to be
back in Is there about the market out there for
there wasn't. There wasn't. No, there wasn't. There wasn't. In
seventeen when he was going to the broadcast, he did

(02:00:47):
nothing in yeah, like I I gotta get me some
of that. Nobody was saying that not Cleveland, No not
at all. Oh gosh no, absolutely not zero. Those two
teams like horrifically bad quarterbacks, right so that he doesn't
even if he doesn't fit the category of being so bad,

(02:01:08):
that those two teams would entertain the best thing that
the best thing starting to the best thing that happened
to Jay Cutler this season was to watch Matt More
loose to the Ravens forty to nothing to show actually
what Jay Cutler's value was. Yes, that is correct. See
you want to see what I'm worth, guys. One last
note in the NBA Celtics, Ricky Jillen Brown out tonight

(02:01:29):
against the Houston Rockets. He's got knee soreness. And this
could be a preview of the NBA Final. If it
was up to me, I'd rather see a Game seven
that mattered against two teams that may not be the
best than see a Game five that's gonna be the
only one watching, uh from It's been fun and I

(02:01:50):
can't wait to watch that Finals preview tonight. Maybe we
can get together and talk about it Tomorrow we will
sounds like a plan.
