Speaker 1 (00:00):
The results are in a survey of INK five thousand
companies shows the top barriers to growth. It's taking finance
too long to close the books, so slow to launch
new products. We need to hire good people and keep them.
Too many disconnected systems. I can't see what's happening in
my business. Sounds like they've outgrown their business and financial
management systems. Quick books and spreadsheets work fine at the start,

(00:22):
but now it takes twice the effort to get things
done and you can't get accurate answers. You should know
the number one system for growing companies, net Suite from Oracle.
Net Suite is the one system that tracks and manages revenue,
cash flow, hr, inventory projects, even e commerce for every industry.
Now you can run your business from a dashboard on

(00:44):
your phone. That's why thousands of companies use NetSuite. It's
the only system you need to run your business. Go
to NetSuite dot com slash fast to get your free
guide called Crushing the five Barriers to Growth. That's NetSuite
dot Com slash Fast. You're listening Boom What Up America

(01:06):
Doug Gottlip Show, Fox Sports Radio coming to you from
the soon to be very rainy city of Los Angeles, California.
We're gonna get it all done in a couple of days. Here,
like two to four inches of rain tomorrow in the
southern California basin. Don't worry about us. We'll be fine.
It'll be seventy five and sunny by Saturday. I've checked

(01:27):
the rest of you, still digging out from the bomb cyclone.
A lot to get to massive college hoops upsets. There
maybe a point in time in which we could talk
about that. Um, I'll give you my thoughts in a
moment on what I would do if I were the
Lakers in regards to LaVar Ball, who's in Lithuania, but
his comments have been heard stateside. But let's start with

(01:50):
the National Football League and maybe get U get you
a preview of the college football National Championship, which is tonight,
which I think is a lose lose in the short
terminate win win long term for the college game. Uh,
let's see here the wherever I wherever I whoerever? I
read the script before the Chiefs start out hot and
lose a big lead in a playoff game. Okay, I've

(02:11):
seen the script. They lose at home. I've seen that
script as well. Kind of remarkable. But the Tennessee Titans,
which looked like, well, a team that shouldn't be in
the playoffs, and and look, if we're reasonable about this,
we're reasonable about this. The only reason the Jags, the
only reason the Titans, no reason the Bills are in

(02:33):
the playoffs because the l A Chargers had no kicker
to start the year, right, I mean even or the
Chargers they couldn't finish the Jacksonville game two interceptions of
Blake Bortles in the last two minutes of the game
which they had to lead and still couldn't close the deal.
The Chargers, though, without any question my mind, one of
the sixth best, probably one of the four best teams
in the a f C. The Ravens choke and collapse

(02:58):
and the dysfunction within the Raider. I could go on
about other teams, and then the injuries to the Houston Texans,
no J. J. Watt, Deshaun Watson gets hurt, uh Brian
Cushion with p d s and the rest, as they say,
is history. Those are not the elite teams in the NFL.
But the Titans take advantage of Mariota being the receiver

(03:22):
Mariota being the quarterback, Mariota being the blocker, and because
the Kansas City Chiefs offense in the first half looked
like the Chiefs the first six weeks of the season,
and then it looked like mid season Chiefs the rest
of the way, the Chiefs chief. You can't spell choke
without Chiefs. Three at a home and they lose, And

(03:43):
we will get to what happens to Alex Smith in
the very near futures. Appears as though his UH days
are at minimum numbered and more than likely up in
terms of being a Chief. Will he be a Bronco,
Will he be a Brown? Will he be a Cardinal?
By the way, welcome into our affiliate in Phoenix, running

(04:04):
three hours of our show lot. Then of course we
have the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. Will lay some
blame at the feet of Sean McDermott, the coaching staff,
but also with the Tyrod Taylor. You guys know what
an r P O is, a run pass option lea
Shawn McCoy six times Goldigo did not get the football

(04:26):
in the backfield's it's criminal, But some of that is
on Tyrod Taylor, who had the decision to hand it
off or keep it, and he chose to keep it.
I counted two of those six plays, So some that's
on Tyrod Taylor. The Jaguars move on. What's it me?
In the a f C. It means that even when
the Patriots lose, and they lost on Friday Friday, and

(04:46):
even today, people are talking about will Bill Belichick take
the Giant's job? Bill Belichick made a couple of horrendous
trades for Jacoby Brissett and more than anything, Jimmy Garoppolo,
well Bill Belichick leave. Is their real dysfunction between Brady
Belichick and of course UH management Robert Kraft. So even

(05:12):
with that negative story on Friday, which will play out
in the off season, didn't they win on the weekend?
They get the Titans, who probably shouldn't be in the playoffs,
gave up more points that they scored. Mario, This is
a good story. But they were gonna fire Mike mclarkey
for a reason. The play calling is beyond atrocious. It's fine.

(05:33):
They are not capable of beating the New England Patriots
in New England, so you you almost have I'm not
gonna say two bye weeks, but you don't have a legit,
hard hitting playoff game as opposed to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They take out a team who's beat them before, that
is built to beat them, and oh yeah, by the way,

(05:54):
they're gonna run the football straight at the Pittsburgh Stealers,
who still don't have Ryan Shay's Here doesn't mean that
the Steelers going to lose. It just means that here
the Patriots are. They're gonna have a little a day
longer to prepare for the a f C Championship game
because they're playing on a Saturday. They're playing against a
team that is not of true elite playoff caliber. Meanwhile,

(06:15):
the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be in an absolute war,
dog fight, street fight against one of the most talented defenses,
if not the most talented defense in the National Football
League in the Jacksonville Jacksonville Jaguars. Like how good is
Jacksonville's defense? They have the worst quarterback in the playoffs,
and they still want first time in eighteen years win

(06:35):
the playoff game. So the Patriots may have lost on Friday,
they may lose in terms of the narrative and the
reported dysfunction of a Brady being ticked that he wasn't
named Patriot of the Week. But they win because they
get the Titans. They get the Titans on a Saturday,
and they get the Steelers likely coming off an absolute
war with the Jacksonville Jaguars. That's pretty good win. Oh yeah,

(06:59):
and they're at home because Jesse James's touchdown catch was
ruled by rule to be an incomplete pass. And then
we have LaVar Ball. LaVar Ball who's being followed by
Jeff Goodman, and Jeff Goodman from ESPN is getting a
lot of heat because ESPN assigned him to follow LaVar

(07:23):
Ball to interview LaVar Ball to be uh kind of
the Heraldo to this LaVar Ball story, if you will.
It feels a little TMZ for for ESPN, for with
the amount of credibility that ESPN has and I and
I disagree with the idea that Rick Carlisle has put
out there, head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, and that

(07:43):
because ESPN is a rights holder, they shouldn't be empowering
a dad to speak about the inner workings of a team.
I understand what he's saying, though he's saying, like, look, ESPN,
you're above this you should not be chasing ratings, are
chasing a story when you don't put the microphone in
front of any other father's face. Why are you doing

(08:05):
this now? But LaVar Ball said, and I'm not quoting
verbatim here um, LaVar Ball said that the players don't
want to play for Luke Walton, basically teams quit on him. Meanwhile,
he's in Lithuania. Alonzo said he can play for any
coach and that his dad's gonna speak his mind, even

(08:26):
though he hasn't actually spoken to his dad since he
got into Lithuania. Now I understand why ESPN has covered him,
because this is like covering the Trump campaign. Everybody laughed
at everybody snickered at it. Everybody said, no way, no chance.
And you know what the guy's president of the United States,
and their feeling is. You know what, It's a story.
We're gonna cover it and it may be nothing, but

(08:49):
it might be something. Let's just keep covering it. And
he keeps giving us good soundbites. But instead of giving
them what does it all? Guys? When uh, you get
the statement of support from the Yeah, when instead of
getting the the vote of confidence, because the vote of
confidence is usually followed by somebody getting fired right instead

(09:13):
of giving Luke Walton the vote of confidence. By the way,
the team beat the Atlanta Hawks yesterday, and my sources
when the Lakers said that, um, everyone within the Lakers
organization is talking about it. No one is happy about it.
If anything, though, it has a Lonzo ball is starting
to grow into more of a leadership role. There is

(09:34):
only one possible solution for the Lakers. You ready for
it alright? The Twitter handles at Gottlieb show the phone
numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine Fox. There is only
one solution for the Lakers, very simple. LaVar Paul is
not welcome at a Lakers game until further Notice that
doesn't mean uh, permanently. It doesn't mean he banned for life.

(09:57):
It just means that Magic Johnson has twice called LaVar
ball in and had cordial meetings with him, first time
before they drafted him. Second time about a month ago,
and said, hey, we're all pulling in the same direction.
You want a Lawns will be a Laker. He's a Laker.
Do you want the Lakers to win? We want the
Lakers to win. You want Lawns to succeed? You want

(10:20):
laws of This is not helping us succeed. But we're
not taking away your privileges to attend a Laker game
because we don't like you or because of what you
said about Luke Walton. It's because we told you not
to say anything, right, I mean, this is parenting one
oh one. Right. You can't tell a kid, you know,

(10:41):
ground a kid for for coming in at twelve oh
five unless you told him as curfew was twelve o'clock. Well,
I don't know. My core fee is twelve o'clock. I mean,
even when you get pulled over for speeding, go like
O of sly. I'm sorry, I didn't see the science
right there. Right, we told you on equivocally not to

(11:03):
speak about the coaching staff, about the Lakers, about other players.
Don't talk about the coaches, don't got with the players.
You want to talk about Alonso, You want to say
something nice about your kid, great, you want to build
your brand, great, But that is not acceptable and you
violated it. So we are going to take away your
privilege to come to a Lakers game. Because what he's

(11:25):
already done is he's made his youngest son, LaMelo, who's
got a chance of six ft five six ft six
potential point guard to be he won't be an NBA
player because nobody's gonna want to touch him. And now
he's threatening to ostracize his young, uh starting point guard
son for the Lakers. And we're like three months into
this thing, and it doesn't even matter if what he's

(11:47):
saying is the truth, because the perception becomes that he
gets his information even if he doesn't talk to Alonzo,
which is very possible, maybe even likely, as the sons
are scared talked to the dead, the perception is that
Lonzo is telling him this, which creates a rift between
the coaching staff, specifically the head coach and the point guard.

(12:10):
And never in the history of sport has this happened.
Archie Manning was a starting quarterback in the NFL. Have
you ever heard Archie Manning say a negative word about
how either of his sons have been coached? Ever? No,
because to steal from LaVar Paul, stay in your lane, right,

(12:33):
run your business, coach your sons, do your deal with
your reality show. If it works, great, if it doesn't, fine,
But dude, this is the type of things that actually
ruins your son's career. It has the opposite of whatever
intended positive effect you have. Stop talking, and the only

(12:53):
lake and the only proper thing for the Lakers to
do is go, hey man, look, we talked to you
before we drafted him. We talked to a month ago.
It's clearly not working. You're not welcome here until you
apologize and your behavior changes. Period. It's not even confrontational.
All right, take a couple of your phone calls on that.

(13:13):
Eight seven seventy nine Fox Brian Baldinger will join us
UH Saints UH stave off a comeback from the Carolina Panthers,
but the Saints lose one of their guards. How do
the Saints match up with the Vikings defense? What do
we think of Cam Newton out the season is over?
Am I the only one that thinks the Patriots won
over the weekend? And the Atlanta Falcons, who I did

(13:35):
not have the nuts to say they would win the game,
but I knew the Rams were in for an absolute
or Atlanta goes in and beats the Rams, and now, boy,
they seem to have a pretty good shot at getting
back to the NFC Championship game, going on the road
to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who don't have an
offense to speak of. We'll talk with Baldi from the
NFL Network up coming next. But first, does your business

(13:58):
have a new Year's resolution? Here's an important one every
business should consider. Make your hiring process more efficient and
effective this year. Let zip recruiter help. No one, and

transforming how you find the right talent than they have.

invoice price. True Car shows what other people paid for

(15:01):
the car you want, so you can recognize a good
price when you're ready to buy a new or used car.
Visit True Car. They enjoy more confident car buying experience.
Do Do Do, Do, Do, Do, Doom Doom Doom, Doug
Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio college football playoff Look Brian
baldingerill join us in a moment. Uh, we'll get the

(15:21):
college football playoff upcoming. Why it's gonna be a lose
lose and a win win short term versus long term?
But I feel like it's uh. However, Damaging Friday's article
was Thursday night. Friday Morning's article was Titans at home
on a short week as you've gotten plenty of time
to prepare, and I know the Titans played on Saturday,

(15:43):
so they have a full week of preparation, but still
on the road. Come back home, you gotta play against
the team, and the Titans just aren't very good. And
then you get the Steelers and like, look, the Steelers
obviously have a far more efficient offense. Uh, than the
Jackson Mille Jaguars. But even if in fact this Dealer's win,
that would be my expectation. Again get beaten up by

(16:04):
those Jacks. That Jack's defense is good. Uh, gotta talk
about the Saints. Gotta take about the Falcons. The NFC
South has, of course risen. Let's welcome in. Brian Baldinger
breaks things down on his Twitter handle and on NFL
Network better than maybe anybody in the business course. Former
offensive line in the Nation Football League. Baldi, how are
you hey? Good morning, Doug, Good afternoon. I guess doing

(16:25):
good man. Thanks. Let's let's let's start um like. Look,
I understand that Andy Reid has come up short before.
It should be pointed out that in Philadelphia, was it
five straight NFC championship games and he got a Super
Bowl there as well. I mean, so two people saying
that Andy Reid's teams always collapse it's not not fair,
but his Chiefs teams have and the Chiefs as a

(16:45):
franchise one home playoff win in twenty five years. What
went so wrong when they had that early three lead, Well,
I mean they didn't get the ball much, you know,
in the second half, Doug. I mean they had twenty
one snaps in the second half. I'm just going back
and watching it again. There was a play I mean
you could second guest play calling and Matt n Agum,
you know, and Andy Reid in the game. I mean,

(17:05):
they lost their you know, they lost their number one
receiver and Travis Kelsey. That was a loss um. They
lost their best defensive linement, Chris Jones. I mean, those
things happen in games. But there was one call. I mean,
I don't like the second guest a lot of play calls.
There was one called doug Um on the first drive
the third quarter, they had third in less than a
yard and they ran that pitch option uh down the

(17:27):
line against the nine man front and they lost four
yards and they punted, you know, in Tennessee went down,
scored and they got right back in the game real quick.
I mean that call there not to give the ball
to Kaream Hunt in that situation. You know, whether it
was a changed call by Alex Smith, I don't know,
or if it was a call from the sidelines, I'm

(17:47):
not sure, but that call you could second guest for sure.
They just didn't get the ball in the second half,
you know, Tennessee played keepaway, and um, you know, they
played really well in the second half. Uh. It's funny
that there is kind of a theme with both the
Chiefs and the Bills. Right six times goal to go,
they don't give the ball to Shady McCoy. Look, and

(18:09):
I understand you got loaded up fronts and quarterbacks and
even offensive coordinators make kind of second guests themselves, But
why is it so difficult to at least give the
ball to your best or most likely player to score
in short yardage? Were in goal to go situations? Well,
you know you can so that situation there, Doug. Okay,
it's first down and you're at the one and a
half yard line, and you know you flex out, you know,

(18:32):
Calvin Benjamin, I mean you did trade form, you know,
a six ft six, you know, wide receiver for plays
in situations just like this. Now, Janalen Ramsey went out
there on them and they threw a jump ball to
him on first down. Now you can't predict that Kelvin
Ramsey is gonna push off on Jayalen Ramsey and you're
gonna lose ten yards, you know, in the down. So
those things you can't really predict. So you know, if

(18:55):
that's just an incompleted pass and Ramsey plays the down,
you got second down at the one and you handed
off the Shady McCoy, you know. I mean, yes, you
would like to give it to your back, but you
also don't think that you're gonna lose ten yards on
offensive past interference and it completely changed the situation. So well,
you'd like to give it to Shady maybe on first down.
I think they were very well prepared to give it

(19:16):
to him on the next three downs. You just didn't
think that it was gonna be you know, first down
with the thirteen after that. So that's that's what blew
up in their face right there, and you can set
a guess that. But you also don't know that Calvin
Benjamin is gonna guilty of the infraction. Let's let's go
work our way back to the kN City game. Do
you believe that's the last we see of Alex Smith
and starting quarterback with the Cancer Chiefs. I don't know.

(19:38):
I mean, if you go from number twenty seven in
the draft to ten and you give up a bunch
of collateral in order to go get Patrick Mahomes, you
just gotta believe that it's not gonna be long before
you give them the chance and turn the keys over
to him. Now did Alex Smith? He finished the season
ranked number one in the league, you know in quarterback rating.

(19:59):
I mean, are you ready to it? Just push Alex
Smith out the door and put him up for trade bait,
all those things to give it to Patrick Mahomes who
played well in Week seventeen that quickly, Um, I gotta
believe that once you make the trade and you then
have seen Patrick Mahomes progressed to the point where you
can play really well and actually be the first drafted

(20:20):
quarterback by the Chiefs in thirty years and actually win
a game that you know you're ready to move on.
So I think when you make that deal, it's just
a matter of time until you you you turn it over,
and I think they're going to turn it over to Mahomes.
I tend to I tend to agree with you. Let's
get to the late game on Saturday. That was, uh,
the Rams and some early special teams as early special

(20:42):
teams disaster kind of triggers the Falcons, and the Falcons
lead the entire way. Look, I think most of us
thought this game would be really really close, and you
got the competitiveness and the experience of the Falcons going
against the Rams. But what's changed with this this Falcons secondary,
a secondary that wasn't performing well early in the season
to a secondary that did perform well late in season.

(21:03):
What have you seen this change? Well, you know, they
played a lot of man coverage in that game, Doug.
And if you go back to the Super Bowl when
they were beating Tom Brady the Patriots three, I mean
they were throwing a blanket over all the receivers. Now,
Brady played at a level in the second half that
is just not really human. Um, you could have put
a credit card between the coverage of Robert Alford and

(21:26):
you know all the guys that played that day, Jenellen Collins,
all the guys that played, and you know Brady was
just that magnificent in the second half. But the coverage,
the ability of des true Front, Robert Alfred, Brian Poole,
Kett O'Neil, the ability of those guys to play man
coverage is as good as there is left in the postseason.
And you know they were not afraid to play the

(21:48):
Rams receivers even in budge formations where it's really tricky
to play man coverage because you can get picked just
like you know, I don't know Steph Curry coming off
a double screen. I mean they run those things all
the time for Cooper Cup and Sammy Watkins, and they
they covered their receivers through all of that as well
as you can cover receivers. And they defended a lot
of passes. And so I don't know that anything's changed.

(22:11):
They're just capable of playing at that level, and they
played at the level needed to to defend the number
one offensive football you called a bunch of Philadelphia games. Uh,
you know this Eagles team as it was to start
the year as it is now. Uh, what's your level
of faith if you are an Eagles fan that the
Eagles can slow down the momentum and beat the Atlanta Falcons. Well,

(22:31):
I think defensively, I think they'll be good. I mean
Jim Schwartz all year long has really paced his defensive line.
I mean he's rotated eight defensive lineman regardless of the situation,
all year long so that they would be healthy and
rested for this playoff game. And so you know, Brandon
Graham and Derek Barnett didn't play in Week seventeen, they're

(22:52):
gonna basically get three weeks of uh, you know, rest
here to get ready for next Saturday afternoon. So I
think defensively, I think they'll be as good as they
can be against a really good a Falcon offense. The
question is where is this Philadelphia offense gonna be? I mean,
all year long under Carson Wentz for the first you know,
thirteen games, they were the best team in football on

(23:13):
third down by a wide margin. And Carson Wentz was
the best quarterback on third down by a wide margin.
And that just says the case anymore. And if you
don't convert third downs in this business, whether it's in
January or December or you know, October, your offense isn't
gonna go very far. And so right now, Nick Foles
is over his last fifteen in third down conversions throwing

(23:37):
the football, so that has to get better. You can
run the ball, you can manage the game, you could
do all those things, but you have to be able
to convert third downs to stay on the field and
sustained offense. And that's the question mark in right now.
I don't believe the quarterback has a lot of confidence
to be able to do that. All right, let's get
to Saints Carolina Panthers. A lot of interesting stuff there. Uh,

(23:57):
a couple throws there, what it looked like Drew Brees
a bowl, but then the offense did go stale. What's
your biggest takeaway from Saints Panthers. Well, you know, those
two teams they know each other so well. I mean,
Luke Kickley has been going up against Drew Brees now
for the last six years, and they see each other
twice a year, and a lot of times the games
are played in in close proximity of each other. But

(24:19):
in addition to that, they see each team in the
cut ups every week. So you've seen all the teams
you you're seeing. If you're Drew Brees, you see Carolina
all the time, whether you're getting ready for him or
you're getting ready for another game. You're always looking at
their defense. So for them to put up thirty one points,
I think it was a pretty good was pretty good
on yesterday afternoon, and Drew Brees was phenomenal. I mean

(24:44):
the back shoulder throws to Michael Thomas, to Josh Hill,
you know, on a day where there was no running game.
Carolina said, all right, your receivers and the guys I
just mentioned along, you know, with some of the other characters,
I mean Bradley, you know, Bradley Coleman. Whatever, They're gonna
have to beat us, and they were good enough for me.
Get the eight yard bomb to Tedkins Junior over the top. Um,

(25:07):
they get the touchdown to Josh Hill on a broken
on a broken play by the Panthers where they blitz
two off the edge and one guy didn't stay home.
I mean Drew Brees made him pay. I thought. On
a day where they shut down the running game like
no other team had done all year, for them to
put up thirty one points, that was an accomplishment. Big injury.
Um Pete gets suffers a broken fibula, You lose, you

(25:29):
lose a talented guard, especially the way in which Drew
Brees likes to step up and throw in the pocket.
How damaging is that going against Minnesota this rate, Well,
it's damaging. But that Kenyo Selimenti came in there, played
pretty well, and so you know, now you're into a
depth situation where you really can't afford Josh Liribius is
their next guy up if anything happened, So you really

(25:51):
your depth is really tested. So I think Drew Is
is really a dept at Uh. You know, his problem
is is pressure right in his face. He can hand
of the guys on the outside. If he can't step up,
that's when he has issues. And so we'll see, we'll
see what he's like, you know, inside against Tommy Johnson
and Lynvall, Joseph and some of the guys that he's
going to see inside this week. I'm not crazy to

(26:13):
think that the Patriots catch a little bit of a
break here, right Like, I don't know if Jacksonville can
score enough to beat the Page beat the Steelers, but
they're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna beat him up. I mean,
that is a good, physical football team as opposed to
the Patriots. Um, I say what you want about the Titans,
come back that that's the team I most want to play.
If I was doing, the Patriots remaining in the playoffs

(26:33):
and they'll get an extra day to prepare for the
Steelers if the Steelers survived this week. Fair, Yeah, that's fair. Um. Look,
I mean I think the Patriots are prepared for whoever
they play. I mean, they're gonna adjust their game plan
their personnel who they activate, you know, next weekend. They're
they're gonna make all those adjustments in preparation. I don't
think there's not one person that building that's gonna take

(26:55):
anything that um that you can do lightly that kind
of see can do. I mean, they're gonna get probably
de Marco Murray back, and so they're gonna get both
backs back. And you know, DeMarco is really good, really
really good receiver. I think they're better in a tandem
than then if it's just Derrick Henry. Although you saw
what Derrick Henry gets and what he can do if
you just keep feeding them. So I think they're gonna

(27:16):
get the best of tennessee. Um. But I think I
think the Patriots will be prepared regardless of who they play. Bally,

of sports. Stan when he got a little national championship
game tonight, SEC show down Georgia daging on Alabama in Atlanta.

(28:02):
Gonna kick it off about eight fifteen Eastern time, give
it take a few minutes there as college football's national
champion in every other state except Florida, where they declared
Central Florida's national champions today, every other state likely to
determine the national championship Tonight. In the NFL, Patriots head
coach Bill Belichick says he absolutely intends on returning to
New England for the eighteen season. Belichick told reporters on

(28:24):
a conference call he didn't read the piece by ESPN
that said there was friction between himself, Tom Brady in
owner Robert Kraft. The NFL and Players Unit have joined
forces to investigate whether the Panthers properly followed concussion protocol
when Cam Newton was injured in yesterday's wild card loss
to the New Orleans Saints Bears and Fire Chiefs offensive
coordinator Matt Naggy as their new head coach, while Steeler's
wide receiver Antonio Brown returned to practice today after missing

(28:47):
the final two games of the regular season with a
calf muscle injury. Speaking of injuries in the NBA, Kauai
Leonard gonna miss tonight's game against the Kings because of
a partial muscle tear on his shoulder. Leonard said out
last night's lost to the Blazers and hasn't yet been
ruled out though for their game against the Lakers on Thursday.
And yeah, who Sports says the Astros have had trade
talks with the Pirates about Doug's neighbor, Garrett Cole. Yeah,

(29:08):
so Garrett Cole still in those trade talks though. Yeah,
it looks like Pittsburgh's gonna try and sell off some
of their pieces there. Uh evan trade and drama cutch
in yet right, that was that was rumored going back
a year and a half ago that eventually and this
is I believe, um, I believe this is his uh
his walk here. It's funny like I I think, look,

(29:31):
am I gonna watch National Championship tonight? Sure football game,
no hoop on TV to speak of, no college hoop
it's like the last night until the end of the
n S a term. There's no college hoop on TV.
I don't even know. Is there an NBA hoop tonight?
I don't think so there is. I'm not watching it.
There's okay, but tell you watch the National champship. I'm look.
There's there's two parts of this which are fascinating to me.

(29:54):
Fascinating football wise, very simple. Georgia is going to try
and out Alabama. Alabama like what has been Alabama's until
Jalen Hurts. Really for the most part, not all the
most part. Most of their most of their um their

(30:17):
quarterbacks have been of the traditional variety, right traditional. They've
run a traditional UH single back or I formation, play action.
They haven't run zone reads, they haven't run tempo until
the three of the last four years they've had athletes

(30:39):
at quarterback. Now, the narrative has been, if you want
to beat Dick Saban, you gotta have a run pass
threat as your quarterback. But we saw Clemson with that
and that didn't work. Georgia, on the other hand, from
kid is a he's a freshman, he's a traditional quarterback,
and they have not one, but two NFL running backs.

(30:59):
That's Alabama football, right, They're gonna we got two different options,
Sony Michelle, Nick Chobb. But if not, play action conservative
passing game through some talented athletes, and then we'll have
an incredible defensive line, ton of athletes on defense and
beat you in special teams mostly even got a good kicker, right,
the guy with the thick glasses in the mustache. So

(31:23):
I I look at it and I'm like Georgia, who
Kirby Smart came from Alabama and I know he's at
Florida State before that, but Kirby Smarts, Like, you know,
why try and why try and script? The formula works
in the SEC. Here's why it's a lose lose um.
The numbers in the South, they are gonna be obscene,
Like Birmingham is a big measuring stick of Birmingham is

(31:43):
not a big city, but Birmingham in Alabama gonna do
a huge number. New York, Chicago, most of the Midwest.
They'll watch West Coast. Some they'll watch what is that
on about five o'clock five thirty times kickoff. You'll watch

(32:05):
uh not with the same passion as if it was
USC if it was Ohio State, if it was Texas,
maybe if it was Oklahoma, people watch won't do a
great number um and it will continue if you don't
like the sec like and the game will not be
a high scoring game, will not be a fun watch.

(32:28):
It will be good football. These are two well coached,
good football teams with a ton of athletes that are
gonna play on Sunday. But it is not going to
be the highly entertaining Baker Mayfield fifty point variety. That
ain't happening. It ain't gonna be Deshaun Watson back there.
It ain't happening. Like Jalen Hurts, you just not that
good at quarterback. He's just not just not that accurate thrower.

(32:49):
Is he gonna make a big player too? Sure? But
is he? Is he a great? Now, you're a great quarterback.
And they're gonna be conservative? Why because that's who they are.
It's the same thing with Georgia. The formula does in
fact work, and Georgia is gonna use Alabama's old formula
to try and beat Alabama. Be interesting, lose, lose because
game is boring, and most of the country not gonna

(33:11):
care that much. Win win because look if Ali, even
if Alabama wins, it gives you somebody to clearly hate.
We need a there the they become the Yankees of
the sport. If Georgia wins, the whole new player right,
it's a hey, I forgot about Georgia. Right. Last year
we had Clemson hadn't one since eight This year would

(33:32):
be George you had one since what is it like
eighty two or something with a true freshman quarterback? And
oh yeah, by the way, the hatred for the SEC.
While it will seethe from people's teeth and into their
loins tonight, it's okay to hate something, makes you watch
something in the future cheer against it in the future.

(33:53):
The Big Ten folks will puff out their chest in
every opportunity to look at our bull record, even though
the bull games that we were told didn't matter. So
lose losing the short term, win win long term. Be
a new player of Georgia wins, and if not, it's Alabama.
Albim becomes Yankees and everybody continues to hate the SEC,
not watch the SEC. But eventually it'll be SEC versus

(34:14):
Big Ten. It'll be SEC again versus USC, or SEC
versus Texas, and more people watch this season makes tough
jobs easier with free uh loan a tool program from

up coming top of the hour. Uh. That was a
that was a back breaking, back breaking U jail break screen?

(35:23):
Is that what we would call it? Um? There was
still hope for the Rams and just a little screen
passed out in the flat that snow almost took to
the house. Uh. John Rambos, I believe angels lost their
wings on that play. Correct. That was when you knew
it was over. And it's funny because it came just
before an arrow Donald stopped that lost them yards just

(35:45):
after Yeah, just after the Aerodonald big stop and I'm like, okay,
they got him right, second down long and then he
just runs all of the field. I went, that's it. Yep, yep,
that was mommed SnO is gonna join us upcoming top

is in Pittsburgh Steelers, two time pro bowler. He'll tell
us who had the who did who did? Who did
a dummy? Who did the stupidest thing? I mean, look,

(36:08):
I think Kansas Cities played calling probably the dumbest, not
just because they didn't give it to their star running back,
but because they lost Travis Kelsey to a concussion, and
they didn't give it to their running back, right, Like,
all right, you don't want to give it to you
don't want to give it to You're gonna give them
finally is to give it to Kelsey. This is game

(36:28):

the field change, so can your insurance needs. Talk with
the Farmers agent today so you can assess whether your
policy is game ready. Find an agent at Farmers dot com.
Are Farmers dan fire? What's the game today? The game
today is little deal, no deal. If we didn't hear it,

(36:52):
it was big deal, little deal. And then actually the
big deal was quiet and a little deal and no
deal allowed of the big deal what he got, big deal,
little dealer, no deal. The NFL and players and you
have joined forces to investigate whether the Panthers properly followed
concussion protocol when it came to Cam Newton said yesterday

(37:13):
against the Saints, Honestly, like I did say to me,
is the most non story story of all time. Right. Uh,
he says he got poked in the eye by that
clear mask when he is when the staves guy's foot
kicked his mask. I tend to believe that. You know,
he sat down the field so get justin why so
you don't get the time out? And then he went
in a little tent and they cleared him. If anything,

(37:33):
they lost that possession instead of being able to get
him back on the field. Like you know, Look, I
do think concussion protocol is a good thing. We don't
only just be sending guys out there when they're you know,
when they when when they start convulsing, right, who was
it earlier this year? Was convulsive on a football? Field well,
Tom Savage and Tom Savings, he was like convulsive like that,
But in a championship level of game, when a guy

(37:57):
says I'm fine and you check him out and he's fine,
like story over, let's move on. Maybe they should make
them know the the issue was that they didn't take
him into the locker room, and Dougan almost seems like
they have to follow like a path and collect coins
before they come back in, like, I mean, you're you're right,
Like if there was nothing really to see there, there's
no point in having to take him back and then

(38:18):
bring him back in. It's all optics for that matter.
Big deal, a little deal or no deal. That the
Eagles are home underdogs to the Falcons in Saturday's divisional
playoff game. Eagles plus three as they're hosting the Falcons,
that's a little deal and that's I mean two in
a hook. I'd feel more comfortable about it, which will
probably end up moving to But like, what have the
Eagles done offensively since Carson Wentz went down to give

(38:41):
you reason to believe? Now? Um? And and as much
as I would say the Falcons aren't as good out
of the dome they played, were they playing in an
ice drink. Ramos sc hasn't played there in a month.
Yeah slippery. Let me tell you, Yeah, what what the
hell is going on? Like rain hasn't been an issue
and all you gotta do is water. There's no water
restrictions in south central l All. I have no idea

(39:03):
why that surface seemed to be unplayable. What an incredible
throw from Matt Ryan Uh to Julio jones On would
end up being the game winning touchdown uh As he
was falling down because his foot slipped. But yeah, I
I think the Falcons should be favored. They look like
the better team with the better momentum. Right now, big deal,
little deal or no deal that the Chicago Bears have
hired Chief's offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is their new head coach. Um,

(39:27):
I think it's a big deal. But I I think
it's what's interesting is he was calling the plays for
the Kansas City Chiefs and everybody's being critical of the
play calling, right, that's kind of a big deal. Now, Look,
he's Any Reid. At nearly a quarter of the head
coaches in the league come from Andy Reid's coaching tree.

(39:48):
He was just he just took the play calling duties
from Andy Reid this year. So that's important. And it's
also important to note that just like in Philadelphia, just
like in Kansas City with Pat mahomes Uh, you got
Mitchell Drabinsky, young quarterback. You need a head coach who
works well with the young quarterback. You got that. But
you also have to be a little bit cautious because
the play calling was not good, was not good at

(40:11):
all in the playoff game. There were reports that Naggie
liked Trabisky when he was coming out of college. Do
you like that that teams are now relying to. I
mean the Rams did it with Jared Goff was in
on the meetings. Yeah, the most important guy in the team,
get somebody who's gonna you gotta get somebody who works
well with the most important guy on the team. I
I mean, look, that's many of the many of the
coach and lead. That's what Tampa Bay did with Dirk Cutter.

(40:32):
They don't want Dirk Cutter be head coach, Like you know,
he works well with Jameis Winston. Let's keep him. That's
what happened with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Right. You got Doug Morone,
seen as an offensive guy, quarterback guy. He can fix
Blake Bortles. I don't think he fixed Blake Bortles, but whatever.
Uh yeah, I think it's a trend within the league.
Big deal, little deal or no deal doug that the
Better Business Bureau has given the Big Baller brand in

(40:54):
F rating. The company reportedly does not offer refunds, and
one review on the site said, and I'm quoting, I
purchased two items and was told there would be a
one to two week delay. I have been waiting six
weeks now, and when I asked why it was taking
so long, I was called a quote small baller end
quote that from the Better Business Bureau? Is that a

(41:14):
big deal, little deal or no deal kind of feels
like a big deal? Yeah? I think so too. That's like,
that's like a restaurant getting a B in terms of
their cleanliness. Probably not that big a thing, but since
everything seems to get an A that, you know, I
can't remember anybody of repute getting an F from the
Better Business Bureau. This is game time on the Duck

(41:37):
Gottlieb Show. Yeah, Better Business Bureau, though, let's just be honest,
like there's something with like no teeth at up, like,
you know, if something goes wrong called the Better Business Bureau,
Like what can you guys do? Like nothing? Will you
just bring a better review? And that's about it. Like
I can't suthe through, you know, we can't take away
their license. Not really, not really. Uh, we're a not

(42:00):
for profit, not for change organization. Do you guys like
the Bills Mafia stuff that jumping through the broken tables
with things on fire thing? Yeah, kind of, I like it,
but I do know this is gonna end poorly. Somebody
is going to die in one of those things. And
we're like, man, I watched every one of those videos,
even the one where the guy died, and I keep
watching it over and over again. Right, it's it really,

(42:23):
it's like running It's like running man, and so it's
like like running man. Falcon's wide receiver Mohammed Snoo joins
the show. I'll ask him what's changed with this team?
That's next? What up? Doug Gottlieb show Box Sports Radio,
Coming to you from the City of Angels, which used
to have two really good football teams, but now their
seasons are over and the folks in Atlanta preparing for

(42:45):
another game. Folks, in New Orleans preparing for another game.
It's like the NFC South a little bit better than
their records may have told you. Um, but like, look,
the playing at home is a weird thing. It can
be great. For example, the Falcons last game of the
regular season at home New Barn a chance to to win,

(43:08):
and they're in, get the crowd behind you and it
really seemed to help. But for the Rams, it almost
seemed like a detriment, right, like, look, as as good
as the Rams, uh, as good as the Rams have been,
they're actually bad at home this year. Do you know?
The Rams finished three and five at home on their
home field this year. And I don't know whether it's nerves,

(43:32):
but bought special teams play and the crowd turned restless early.
It allowed the Falcons too quick field goals in the
first quarter to never trail. They never trailed, so there's
never any road pressure on the Falcons and they go
in and get the upset. So far of the postseason,
I'd say along the lines of Tennessee beaten Kansas City.

(43:55):
In Kansas City, let's welcome in Mohammed Sanu, who joins
us from your defending NFC champion And still very much alive,
favored against the ego Atlanta Falcons. He joins us in
the Doug Gallup Show, Mohammed, how are you? I'm great?
How you guys doing good? Man? Um, Look, I'll be
honest with you. I didn't pick you to win the game,

(44:15):
but I thought like, look, if there's a team that
needs to be very cautious about the team they're playing,
it's the Rams playing the Falcons. And thought was, you
guys were experienced house money, playing your best football, playing
much better football last month this season, and you had
been playing especially once you got Davonte Freeman back healthy.
But take me back to Friday leading into Saturday. What
were your thoughts heading into the Rams game? Um? Just honestly,

(44:38):
you just gone there and do my job. I know,
you know my brothers are gonna do theirs. You know,
we we had a great we We could prep so
we knew what we know how the head of us
and she got there and play ball. Um, don't listen
to handy outside noise. We know we have an house
and a brotherhood and we know what we can do.
So we're just gonna keep it like that. Um, how

(44:59):
much did how much did a change? Getting out to
a six nothing lead early. Obviously when you get the
ball and you get to you know, quick possessions. Then
they fumbled even up down six nothing, they gave you
a couple opportunities to score. I know it's frustrating not
put touchdowns, you know, put put sixes and sevens up
on the scoreboard. But to have at least a six
nothing buffer. How much did that kind of change if

(45:20):
or did it change the mentality of the team. Oh,
you know, being able to get points on the board
and you know, capitalized on turnoversus this huge and we
were able to you know, get some type of points
you know, money met the great job goodness points on
the board, and you know we took advantage of opportunities.
You know, we gotta continue to keep building to make
sure we return those you know, threes into sevens. Game

(45:43):
in the balance late you catch, should we consider that
a bubble screen? A jail break screen? Like? How how
would you term your fifty two yard catch and run?
What would you technically call it? It was just a
screen screen play and uh, you know coach called a
great flat at the timement. It worked great, We ascute it. Well, No,
you had guys come out and make key blocks on

(46:04):
it on the permanent for me, and I've just seen
a crease and I took it. Yeah, Mark Baron wanted
no party, you too, I don't know if you saw
the film he want he wanted he w He looked
at you. He's like, nah, runaway freight trade. I'm gonna pass.
But uh I can't take it to the house. Huh.
I mean, like, look, man, fifty two yards but no,
no six points? What's going on? Hey? You know setting
it up for Julio. I got you. I understand. It

(46:25):
was pretty remarkable throw really from from from Matt. If
you think if I don't know if you've seen the replay,
like you guys were slipping? What was going on with
the field where everybody was slipping all night? That? I mean,
it's not like the weather was bad. Why was the turn?
Why was the surface so difficult? It was a hard ground? Uh,
it wasn't really you know, soft, and the grass was
really low, so Uli getting the ground and it was

(46:48):
a little damp from the air, a little moist southern
California air, I mean, nonetheless, like Matt's right foot gave
out and he somehow through it like, I mean a
perfect lofted pass to Juli You that that was. It's
one of those ones to which if you kind of
look in the score comment like a short passed Julio Jones.
Julio probably made a play. But that was really Matt
with his foot slipping out, flipping out, making a great play.

(47:10):
He do a phenomenal ball in a place that where
it needed to be and he was able to make
a play on it. I was just Matt. Okay. So
you go into the locker room, was it a matter
of fact? Was it celebratory? What was it like after
you go in and you beat a Rams team? Uh,
that had been a dominant offense, the defense shutting down.
You guys win twenty six and thirteen. Mohammed's do give

(47:32):
me a sense of what that locker room was like
after the game. It was very very emergetic. Uh. We
definitely celebrate a bit and then you know, we packed up,
got on a plane round again, ready for for the Eagles.
You know what you can't say this week though, you
can't do that nobody believed in us because Vegas actually
has you his favorites. You know, you guys can't do
that We're not really worried about that. We're just worried

(47:53):
about prepping, you know, all the way we've been prepping
in his last couple of weeks, and you know, putting
in the work. Um, you know, anybody didn't say what
they want. We just gotta go put in the work
and leave it all out there. Okay, So you guys
enter the game having won four of your last five.
There there are rest versus momentum people. Obviously you guys
you didn't have the opportunity to rest, but you've had

(48:14):
that opportunity in the past. What's your sense of how
much of a benefit it is that you guys have
been playing in playing well versus the fatigue of having
to play these must win games in order to get
to the Eagles game on the boat. I mean, you
can see the benefit of each side. You know, being RESTful,
it's very it's very key to play fast and physical
and and you know, having a lot of how to

(48:37):
speed to your to your side, but also you know,
have a momentum and you know having a speed of
the game and being playing a week before also helps too.
So you know it's just about whom's able to go
out there and execute better and you know, make make
hay on the place that they have come their way.
What what do you thinks change so much with your defense? Right? Like?
I mean, look, they have all kinds of weapons and

(49:00):
your defense for the most part locked them up. What
have you seen that change, especially with that defensive backfield?
I mean, our our defenses are remarkable the way they play,
uh and the way they practice and prepare. You just
see a week in a week out, they play so
outstanding throughout the week and you can see the actual
work that they put in and and how how they

(49:21):
preped throughout the week. So you know it's only right
for them to play the way they do play, all right?
So listen, um, you have what the ultimate playoff experience
two tickets and divisional game this saturdaygainst the Eagles, hotel, accommodations,
airfare and people go to your your website, Mohammed Sanu
twelve dot com. Why why are you? Why are you
giving away these two tickets that that seems like something

(49:41):
that's pretty valuable. You know, I'm just trying to give fans,
you know, something for them to be able to look
forward to. UH. I have a great time experience because
not a lot of people get to experienced things like this.
So you know, you know, I'm just trying to, you know,
have somebody have a great opportunity to go out there
and and you know, enjoy road trip with us. Look,

(50:02):
last year, obviously you guys are close to winning a
super Bowl, but the ability to get back there, like
it's two more wins in front of you, any sense
it might be more rewarding to do in this year
considering how many bumps there were, I mean, the three
game losing streak, losing four to five. People, considering you
guys not a playoff team, playoffs, super Bowl hangover, would

(50:23):
it actually be kind of more awarded to get back
there this year? I mean we're just we're actually we're
just worried about this week, honestly. I mean we're always
people always hear say to say that, say this, But
for us, we worried about the Eagles. Um, they're a
great team ahead of us, and you can't be looking
down the line. You gotta be worried about right now.
You've gotta handle business now in order to get back there.

(50:43):
So we were worried about those guys up there, all right,
fair enough, you're going over the game tonight, you're stay
at home much on TV. I'll watch it from the
comfort of my home. Yeah, I can't blame me who
you like Georgia, I know, like I know no ties,
but Georgia or Bama? Who you like? Honestly, I mean
I can both, but I don't. I don't know who's
gonna who's gonna win if it all depends on certain

(51:08):
things like if you know Georgia can get the rent
of game going, and you know Jack from can get
the past game going, then they might have a shot.
But if Bama comes out and play like Bama doesn't,
you know, Bama definitely going Yeah, and then Julio is
just gonna be talking the whole week. You're like, oh,
enough enough, right, I mean, it doesn't really talk like that.

(51:29):
I mean, honestly, when Julio is just real laid back,
by the way, Julio's catch, when you guys rupy three,
that's still the best catch in the Super Bowl I've
ever seen in my life. Like, I like, of all
the things that get caught in the in the ridiculous
end of that game, I can't I can't remember a
better catch. Have you personally ever had a better catch

(51:50):
than that catch. No, I've never seen anything like that one, honestly.
So wait, he got up in the air and caught
it and was able to keep his body like hanging
like that and get both you and that was remarkable. No,
that's remarkable. Mohammed Saneu twelve dot com go to his
official website for gear news. He's been great enough to
join us a couple of times this year. Hey, man,

(52:11):
enjoy watching the game tonight, save travels the Philly come
back with a dub and uh, we'll be hopefully talking
you getting ready for Nancy Championship game. I appreciate you, guys. Man,
you guys have a great one. All right. That's Mohammed
Sanu joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show. I mean
it was like, look, I think if you throw the
records out and um, who wasn't joined us last week,
was talking about strength of schedule? Guys, was it joined

(52:33):
us last week? Uh? What's it with it with the picks? Um?
R J. Bell was talking about like, look, if you
actually look at strength of schedule, Ram, strength of schedule
like seventeenth in the league. Whereas I think the Falcon
strength of schedules like fifth in the league. And it
was also a comparison of yards per play and strength

(52:54):
of schedule like this one did this one, it didn't
smell like an upset. And look for the record, if
if the Rams don't muff a couple of special teams plays,
it's probably a different game, probably different game. But they did,
and so like, look, you can use those numbers to
support an argument. My just thought was like, look, Falcons

(53:16):
been here, They've seen their football death last year, they've
seen their football life passed before their eyes this year,
and they got a ton of talent. I'm not trying
to take away from the facts the Rams have great talent,
but so too to the Falcons. Like two really good
running backs, a couple of really good wide receivers like

(53:36):
Matt Ryan's not the great, he's not I don't think
he's uh, he's not Aaron Rodgers, but in that second
tier of really good quarterbacks, he's right there, a good
quarterback working with a new coordinator that had to And
and look credit Mohammed Mohammed is like that screen passed
was the right play call at the right time. Philly

(53:59):
is gonna be interest stinging. Now Philly can actually be
the number one seed and say nobody believes in us,
and it's not true. There are people who believe them,
but very few believe in them. All Right. Pro Bowl
running back d' Angela Williams is going to join the
show next. I'll get his thoughts in the Chiefs being
the being the chiefs and on on play calling? Is

(54:24):
that gonna be who had the dumbest who made the
dumbest decision of the weekend. D' Angela Williams joins us
up coming next. But first, hey, guys, I'm here to
tell you about a supthing that I take every day.

(55:53):
Radio Every Monday. We're joined by D'Angelo Williams a right
every Monday, and he always is this the dumbest thing,
dumbest decision of the weekend. Uh, so, let's let's get
it started. D'Angelo dumbest decision of the NFL weekend goes
to who. It goes to Atoms the DBS for the
Carolina Panthers. Uh. It's fourth down and six. You're playing

(56:17):
against the New Orleans Saints. You're down by five. All
you have to do is knocked the ball down and
you get the ball by the fifty. Instead, you get
it by thirty. Because you my friend, and it'scept the ball.
I'm thinking to myself, what who? And And I almost
didn't want to put it on him. I wanted to
put it on the coaching staff because there was a

(56:37):
time out right before where the defensive coordinator and all
the defensive coaches should have said, if you had an
opportunity to pick it, don't just knocked the ball down.
Same situation, and to prevent defense where a receiver throws
the ball and you try to knock it down, just
knock it down. Don't try to kiss it. Just knock
it down. We're not padding stats here. We get the

(56:59):
ball at the fifty of forty five. Now we have
a shorter field to work with, and maybe we scored
a touchdown instead. Of Cam getting sacked on the last place. Yeah,
can I can I offer at least, I mean, like, look,
I agree with you. I'm not gonna just at the
time I thought it too. But if you remember, there
was kind of a curious like, wait are they going forward?
They not going forward? And there's a lot of stuff

(57:20):
going on there in terms of, you know, ball in
the air, there is a there is a certain sense
of reaction, Hey, you just catch it, maybe think you
can go to the house with it and not have
to depeat. He wasn't even trying to go to the house.
He in accepted and went to the ground. So you can't,
you gotta you gotta eliminate that. And then not only that,
this is what they tell up we go in the

(57:41):
game and win a four minute offense. They always tell
us doing timeouts. Make sure you hold on to the ball,
make sure you stay in bound. If you break along
when get down, we don't need a touchdown right here
to ball games over. So I'm almost sure they told
this guy in the huddle, hey, we gotta stand firm here.
But what they did to tell this guy is that, hey,

(58:02):
if you have an opportunity to intercept this on fourth. Now,
don't just knock it down because we get a better
field positions. Okay, let me ask you, did you think
that Cam was outside of the tackle box when he
got called for intentional grounding? Oh see, I'm gonna tell
you what I've been trying to look at on on
the replay. Was the ball on that hash or was

(58:24):
it in the middle of the field, Because if the
ball is on that HASH, there was no way he
could have got outside to tackle. However, if the ball
was in the middle of the field or on the
other HASH, and he was well outside to tackle box,
So it's all about the placement of the ball. And
not a lot of people are talking about the placement
of the ball. They're just talking about whether he was
outside of the tackle box or not understood understood. So

(58:47):
I'm asking you if you know where I actually rewatched
the game last night, and I thought it was really close.
Like look, I kind of think benefit of the doubt,
it was on the right hash, so and that was
on and he remember he did scramble a little bit
to the right side, but I felt like he was
right there about the right It was he was just

(59:07):
about just outside the right HASH, but he was not
outside the tack about I don't know. I just feel like,
low bar there? Do you have to call it? Ah?
You know, it's like it's like pass interference on aft ball,
just like let it go. I kind of felt that
wasn't let it go. I told it thought it was
the right call. Only from this aspect, you're playing in
New Orleans, you're at their home place, and they get

(59:30):
the benefit of the doubt, not to because you're opposing.
That's fair, it's fair. The problem with it is that's
not the way a game is supposed to be officiated, right.
Game is supposed to be be efficient based on if
it's a call or not a call. Right. Yeah, But
that's the thing though, when have the rest ever got
anything right? You gotta go in knowing that you can't
leave it up to the rest. How about Jeff Triple

(59:51):
How abut Jeff Tripple was so bad he retired right
after that game. That's like the opposite of the drop
the mic moment. Like Jeff Tripple was so bad in
the in the Chiefs Titans game that they retired him
right after the game. That's the craziest thing I've ever seen,
you know, I didn't even want to. I didn't even
want to get to that. But you know, there are
a few years behind schedule. Because that whole interception catch

(01:00:16):
that Green Bay had a couple of years back, they
should have fired that entire referee staff, but they didn't,
but they did. So I mean to give him that,
to give him the opportunity to say, hey man, we
either gonna fire you or you can resign you. You choose, alright, alright, my,
my dumbest decision of the weekend, okay, comes to Tyrod Taylor.

(01:00:38):
Everyone's being critical of Sean McDermott not handing handing the
ball to Shady McCoy at all. They had six times
gold to go, but two of them I saw were
r p O s and if you watch the replay,
it should have handed the ball off. He made the
wrong forget about what his right decision wrong, like give
the ball to a running back. Now, if I was
gonna be critical of the play calling, I know they

(01:00:59):
ran it to the open side of the field, but
Tyrod Taylor should be running. If he has the option
to throw a football, it should be rolling to his right,
not rolling to his left. So the play call was
bad because he has no ability to throw it, uh
if he fakes it running to his left. But it's
also Tyrod Taylor get hand the ball to Shady McCoy.
Let the professional running back get the ball to the house,

(01:01:21):
not the quarterback who's a running quarterback. Well, now hold up,
now that's right too. We get this right now, though,
are you putting on Tyrod Taylor? You put it on
the play call and you gotta tune one. You can't
put it on Well, I put I put it on.
I put it on ty I put it on Tyrod
because twice there was there were r pos to which
he made the wrong decision to hold onto the football.
And so even though I would have run it to

(01:01:42):
the other side of the field, I would have had
him Shady would have gone to the short side of
the field where Tyrod go to the open side of
the field. The play call did give him the option
to hand the ball off to Shade McCoy, and Shady
simply has to touch it, has to touch it. Well,
I'm gonna be honest with you, and this is a
running back looking at another rubber back. Shadyn't look good
in that football game at all. I don't know if

(01:02:02):
it has something to do with his angle ankle or
the fact that they were just getting off the ball
and wasn't getting them enough room. I don't know what like.
I don't know what you saw, but what I saw
is is that it was a defensive battle. And not
only was it a defensive battle, but Shade mccordy didn't
look like the Shade mccordy that were used to look
at all. They have had some ankle issues, all that

(01:02:26):
is fair, but I still would like to see him
touch just touched the ball once around the goaling Alright,
Blake Borders was so bad throwing the football better at
actually running the football. Um, I mean told you all year,
I told you all year that Jaguards team, and I
told you I said, I've never seen everybody said defense

(01:02:48):
winning championships. I've never seen the game one zero to zero.
You gotta have some sort of offense. Blake Borders gave
you just enough offense to win that football game this weekend.
But I'm letting you know right now, if they play
like that going into Pittsburgh and hines Field, it won't
even be a game. It'll be over by halftime. It'll
be over by halftime because you gotta have more than

(01:03:10):
enough offense when you playing either the Pittsburgh Stealers or
the New England Patriots, because them be down, not coming
up to play, they're putting up seventeen and twenty four points.
Look I'm I'm I'm totally with you, but remember you
blew off my whole. They should trade for Eli Manning.
This is going back weeks absolutely because Eli still he's

(01:03:31):
not that quarterback you think is why I didn't quarterback.
That's just like black Bortles. No, no, no, no, come on, man,
He's not as best player. He can't run like black Bortles,
but he can actually throw a football. If they have
you've been watching who is he gonna do? Who? He
doesn't have order back from JR. If he goes to
the jaz who. But at least he has a running
game to keep running to to keep It's a completely

(01:03:53):
different game, completely different. It's a completely different game when
you're playing again, when you're playing with an actual running game,
with an actual offensive line, like it's fair to say
you put any sort of competent quarterback behind the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They got a chance to win a Super Bowl and
they have no chance with Blake Portles. I'm so lost.
I have no idea what football you've been watching, Like,
what games have you been watching? You play in it?

(01:04:18):
They have us defense. I agree, absolutely is the offense
right the quarterbacks, But the offense Blake Bortles through for
eight seven yards. The week before against Tennessee he threw
for a hundred and fifty eight yards. He did have
a couple of decent games. He had a three game

(01:04:38):
stretch where he was playing well. Outside of that, he's
been atrocious all year. Atrocious. They beat Pittsburgh Diegelow, they
beat Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw for ninety five yards. They
threw the ball fourteen times. All they did was run
it because they knew as long as Blake Bortles doesn't
throw it, we got a chance to win the game.

(01:04:59):
I mean, really really like, I know their offense isn't good,
but it's in the quarterback mostly responsible for why their
offense isn't good. Well, you do realize every time you
dropped back, it's not like he has forty five seconds
in the pocket, So it's not like he has time.
Not that I'm giving Blake Borders that out I've never
said that he's a great or good quarterback. He's okay average.

(01:05:20):
They're trying to and I've said this all year long.
They're trying to give him the Dak Prescott plan that
Dak had last year and protect him was gonna run, run,
run until we have to pass the ball. And this
year he's had to throw the ball more than he
has to in the past. When they had the injury
with their running back when he went down, they had
to throw it a little bit more. Yeah, they they

(01:05:42):
had to. They had to throw it a little bit
more than they wanted to, and he exposed himselfs So
then they went back and like you said, nine eight
yards a hundred and fifty three yards. You know, is
this the making of another uh Baltimore ravens Uh. I
don't want to say any names because I don't want
anybody to get you know what. Yea Trends a friend

(01:06:06):
of mine. I don't think he's as competent as Trent
Dilfer at all, but I guess we'll see as they
go on the road to Pittsburgh. Um, all right, last thing,
Falcons go in beat the Rams. Now the Falcons are
favored in Philadelphia. Do you like that Falcon's pick to
go into Philadelphia has favorites? I don't. And here's why.

(01:06:30):
Uh weather conditions. Uh their dome team, Uh, Phillies outside,
it's gonna be cold as balls up there. Man. Uh.
And not only that, Philadelphia has a defense to rock
with their offense, I don't necessarily know if Atlanta's offense
has enough to shut down the Phillies. I mean, the
Atlanta's defense has enough to shut down Phillies offense depending

(01:06:53):
on which Nick Foles we get. Like, we're gonna get
the nick Foles that we've had in the past, we
can actual throw the ball. O're gonna get the nick
Foles that overthrow his receivers and throw picks and lose
football games. So I think nick Foles has that Cam
Newton effect where you don't know which guy you're gonna get.

(01:07:14):
Hm m hm um. I have no idea which whom
we're gonna get, but I only have the last couple
of weeks. Now, he did throw four touchdown past his
first start. He looked terrible the last two weeks. Uh,
let's just let's just go see. Let's find out diedgel
great stuff. Thanks so much for joining us. Yeah, thank you, hey, Doug.
One thing that we weren't able to touch on is

(01:07:35):
the whole Bill Belichick that Mike Craft, I mean, the
Craft and Tom Brandon things. I wanted to say this.
What better time than to bring all that up when John,
when Gruten gets a ten years, hundred million dollar contract,
what's the best way to either massiest contract or get
a better one? You tell me, get this story on

(01:07:59):
absolutely out there talking to him going to the New
York Giant. They've talked to him, wanted to leave, and
things of that nature. I gotta drop my price up.
I'm already wanted to win his head coaches ever, so
if you're gonna give this guy ten years, that way,
I this is exactly what I said Friday, right like
this is this is uh this, I mean just that

(01:08:21):
the two just happened to coincide at the exact same time. Now,
we don't know what Belichick already makes. There are somen
that believe he makes in the ten eleven million dollar
variety to begin with, but it is kind of curious
timing and jeneral if he wins another Super Bowl, I
can't think of any other stronger leverage. Then look what
Gruden got. If if Gruden wins one super Bowl and
doesn't coach for a decade and can get ten for ten,

(01:08:44):
what am I worth? If I wins what is it does?
Six super Bowls? Six Super bowls right, and three in
the last four years, it would be really strong, great stuff.
Thanks for joining us, Thanks man. All right, all right.

that if he was to leave for another job, it
would be the Giants job. Well, Belichick. Today, Doug had
a conference call with reporters in preparation for their showed
on with the Tennessee Titans, and this was asked, is

(01:09:27):
your intention definitely to be back with the Patriots next season? Ah?
Pause for effect there from the Patriot had said coach yes,
absolutely intends to return next season. Also admits that he
did not read the ESPN report that says there was
friction between Belichick, Brady, and owner Robert Kraft. The NFL

(01:09:49):
and players Union have joined forces to look into whether
the Panthers followed concussion protocol when Kim Newton was knocked
out of yesterday's game against the Saints. Bears and higher
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Negge to be their new head coach.
Well Antonio Brown returned to practice today for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was hurting that Patriots game and missed the final
two games of the regular season because of that calf
of muscle injury. Warriors without Kevin Durant tonight for the

(01:10:10):
third straight game. He'll miss the matchup against the Nuggets
because of a calf strain, while Spurs forward Kawai Leonards
out tonight against the Kings because of a partial muscle
tear in his shoulder. Lenova back on top of this
week's AP Top twenty five college hoops pull and of course,
tonight in college football, it's the Georgia Bulldogs going up
against Nick Saban in Alabama. We've got two great running

(01:10:32):
backs do a really good job with the play action
passes their quarterback has been very efficient and effective. So
the combination of the balance that they create with the
running game and their ability to throw the ball down
the field makes them very difficult to defend. The all
SEC showed on Doug tipping off or kicking off. Excuse
me about eight fifteen Eastern tom tonight in Atlanta. All right,

(01:10:53):
this is what this is what should have been said
by Alonzo Ball, but instead was said by how Kuzma. Okay,
so LaVar Ball said, Hey, guys that want to play
for him? Uh uh. Alonzo said, I'll play for anyone.

(01:11:14):
Kyle Kuzma said, Luke is my guy I love playing
for I'm sure most of us love playing for him too.
We just gotta stay locked in as a family. Listen
to the people that really matter in our lives, basketball lives.
That's everybody in this organization. A lot of people, uh,
a lot of people. You have losing streaks, You can
go home, listen to people and let them be in
your ears. But the people that really matter in the

(01:11:36):
Lakers organization, by Luke. We stand by Luke. I know
our front office does. That's all. That's all a Lonzo
needs to say. Instead, Kyle Kuzma says it. You don't
say I'll play for anyone. You'll say I want to
play for that guy. Well, my dad says what my
dad says, I want to play for Luke. I like
playing for Luke. They could not have butchered this any worse.

(01:12:05):
Mhmm so m hm amazing, remarkable. Uh, here's what Kuzma said.
It was upsetting. I don't think that's the case when
you lose games. At the end of the day, Lucas
Uh isn't the one going out and shooting two for fifteen,
turning the ball over, having turnovers, missing free throws. That's us.

(01:12:27):
He can't blame the coaching staff for everything. It's mutual.
Of course, players mess up, coaches mess up. We have
to be more accountable. Like, look that they the fact about.
It's not even that what LaVar is saying. It's what
LaVar is, not what LaVar is saying. I don't care
if he what he's saying about losing the team, the

(01:12:49):
guys don't like playing for him. Whatever. It's twofold one.
He was specifically told not to talk about the coaches
or the players, and he didn't do it. Specifically told
Hey man, we don't big Baila brand. You wanta do
what you wanna do like cool. You know what you
can't do. You can't be negative towards our organization period stop.

(01:13:12):
I don't never say anything bad about the other players
in their team, even though he did when he was
at U c l A. Right, I don't ever say
what you just did that. Secondly, why are we giving
him a voice? Why he's just a dad who coaches kid. Nay,

I'm clearly a Twitter fight with somebody who said I
used drugs as a kid wasn't fair where he's drug
where I was critical a Lonzo Ball, I haven't been
critical Alonzo Ball as a person who as a player,
and I actually like Lonzo Ball. Twitter people are idiots.
This guy grabs at m grads. Yeah really not not smart?
Not smart? But uh yeah you know what we should do?

(01:14:50):
Uh in a moment, will play. What did the Fox say?
But first, it's conditions on the field change your insurance needs.
So can your insurance needs? Talk with Farmers agent today
you can assess with your policies. Game ready, find an
agent at Farmers dot com. We are Farmers. Let's play,
and now the Fox saying. Nick Right is one of

(01:15:15):
the co hosts the First Things First TV show that
you can hear on Sirius XM channel eight three R
Fox Sports radio station on Serious sex M. He had
this to say about Cam Newton. This is why I've
always been a supporter of Cam. I've loved watching him play.
When he plays well, he's as good as anybody in football,
and he does things and takes hits and gets first

(01:15:38):
downs with his legs unlike any other quarterback in the league.
I left that game feeling the same way that I
went going into that game, which is, there are there
are five quarterbacks in this league that I would take over,
Cam Newton, Brady Ben one of them, who's going against Chesterday,
Brees Rogers, and Russell Wilson. That's the list. Now six
through ten we can argue about. I think Cam's the

(01:16:00):
X guy on that list. Cam had to do everything,
and people will say, oh, he's got this great defense.
Over the last seven weeks of the year, they have
the dead last defense in the league, dead last past
defense league. Oh, they have this great running game. Takeaway
Cam's rushing stats and it's the thirty first round running
game in the league. Okay, again, like I haven't heard

(01:16:23):
anybody say he's the number six quarterback. Like six perten
is arguable, Okay, but he wouldn't be part of that argument.
That's the right. That is what he said, right, six
through ten is arguable, Okay, is he would you rather
have Cam Newton as your starting quarterback or Carson Wentz?
Would you rather have Cam Newton? Like, look, you're gonna

(01:16:45):
have to open up yourself to the fact that Kirk
Cousins Alex Smith, Um, Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan who he
lost to two weeks ago. Like, look, Cam Newton in
a in a league in which you have to be
able to throw the football consistently and accurately in order

(01:17:08):
to be successful. Like we're we're what seven years in
to the Cam Newton experience? Seven years in and this
is who he is like at the end of seven years,
this is who you are. Look at his passer ratings.
He had one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

(01:17:33):
games of below seventy as a passer. Now he did
have four games of above one four games, so he
has some peaks, but he has some values. And when
your completion percentage is below, when your quarterback rating is
at eighty when throughout your career, look look as his

(01:17:57):
through his career. He is a fifty eight per sent pastor.
That's who he is. His quarterback rating the past two
years has been seventy five point eight and eighty point seven.
That's who he is. Like, who signs up for that.
I'm not saying he's terrible, but he's closer to being
bottom half of starters than he is to top half

(01:18:18):
of starters. So yeah, we can argue over the six
through ten quarterbacks. Absolutely, you know, where would I put
Jimmy Jesus on that list? Where would I put Matt
Stafford on that list? Where would I put Big Ben?
Would I consider Derek Carry who had a great year

(01:18:40):
two years ago and a disappointing year this year, but
as a with with a as a disappointing year, his
quarterback rating and completion percentage were both and touch We're
both better than Kim Newton. He runs it because he
can't throw it and because he's really really big. But
do you think they want him to run? Like No,

(01:19:01):
they wanted to make him into a more of a
pocket passer because he'll last longer that way. But they
realized he's not good at that. You know, like what
he gets credit for yesterday? He made some great throws
late in that game, made a couple of just unbelievable throws,
but him getting credit for like the Christian McCaffrey catching run.
Do you know this is the twelfth you know, this

(01:19:23):
is the anniversary of anniversary of the tebow play right,
the tebow completion to Demerius Thomas eight yards or a
tenure completion that de Marius Thomas ran the rest of
the way. But Tebo used to get credit for putting
out a fire that he started like man shirt Tebow

(01:19:44):
came back and really looked better in the fourth quarter.
That's because he was so atrocious for quarters one through
three in the defense and running game and shortening the
game limited how many times he had to throw on
third and long protected him from himself. So I don't
know anyone outside of Nick Wright who would consider Cam

(01:20:06):
Newton the sixth best quarterback in the NFL. Matt Ryan's
had a down year. You'd still rather have Matt Ryan
his quarterback. You just would, Uh, You'd rather have Philip
Rivers quarterback. I don't know for how much longer. Right,
there were some times in which Philip Rivers showed his age,
but at thirty six years old, Yeah, I'd rather have
Philip Rivers quarterback. He had a ninety six rating. He

(01:20:29):
completed six of his passes. And it's not his fault,
like we want to go fault like, it's not his fault.
He didn't have a kicker the first He didn't really
have a kicker this year. If they did, they would
have won eleven or twelve games, and we wouldn't even
be having this discussion. I don't think Cam is terrible.
I do think Camp competes. But Cam, when you're consistently

(01:20:51):
inconsistent for seven years, that's who you are. It's not
like we've seen a leveling off. It's not like were like, Wow,
he's really getting better. He's starting to refine himself as
a passer. Like dude. The numbers are actually super consistent
last four years. Completion percentage fifty eight point five, fifty
nine point eight, fifty two point nine. Last year when

(01:21:13):
they try to make him a pocketbaster, fifty nine quarterback rating,
and during his great year was point four. That was
the peak last year seventy eight. You throw that out
and the rest of all mid eighties. That's who he is.
And that's not top five, top ten worthy quarterback. It's
not even worthy of discussion. National Championship game is upon us,

(01:21:38):
and uh, look, I think George is the better team,
but just do I think they have the ability? They
have two different tremendous running backs, tremendous running backs as options,
um and uh, they have a quarterback who's only a freshman,

(01:22:00):
but Jalen Hurts is only a sophomore now he's seen
far more big games. He's played in this game last
year but did not play well, although he did have
a fantastic last drive until Deshaun Watson got the ball
and showed why he's Deshaun Watson Um. Alabama wins on experience,
Alabama wins on swagger. I think George is actually a

(01:22:21):
little bit more talented. Two really good running backs as
opposed to one for Alabama. And we can say what
we want about not playing in as many big games.
But I saw the Georgia game and they went in.
I saw Georgia beat Notre Dame on the road and
I was impressed. I saw them beat Auburn, UH, and
I was impressed. And I saw them score against Oklahoma

(01:22:42):
even though Oklahoma's defense is not very good, and I
was impressed. I think they're gonna Outabama Obama. The special
teams is good, the running game is good. It's not
gonna be a super long game, it's gonna be a
super physical game. And I think we all just kind
of nod our head about. Hey, you know, Obama is
just gonna this. This is not a classic great Bama team,

(01:23:06):
and Georgia has just not gotten to this game. Before,
but they've had plenty of talent to be here. And
Chub and Sonny Michelle, those guys are players, absolute players.
So so the college football fan of me is like, man,
no college football for six months, seven months, I know,

(01:23:28):
recruiting guys like man, recruitain season, ready for recruiting season,
and there's gonna be big losses. No Rosen, no Donald,
Like that's gonna change college football in terms. There will
always be some arms, but having those two arms, even
having disappointing seasons in Southern California for Rosen especially, but
there's gonna be a just a uh, you know, running
backs just going to the NFL, quarterbacks going to the NFL.

(01:23:50):
Interesting wild card weekend the NFL, but ultimately the Patriots
won even though they didn't play. That's next in the
Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. What I've Doug Gotlip Show,
Box Sports Radio. LaVar Bald needs to stay in his lane.
We'll talk about that upcoming. Clay Travis from Outkicked the
coverage the award winning show Fox Sports Radio technically Premiere Radio. Right,

(01:24:18):
he's gonna join us in um uh, He's gonna join
us in uh twenty minutes live from Atlanta, where uh
Clay is just a sec heaven sec heaven mhm. So anyway, UH,

(01:24:44):
I thought it was a fascinating weekend. Fascinating. We had
just a little college basketball note for a second, like
it's been a crazy season. Nancy State is it's a
rebuild year. And they lost by like forty early in
the week and then they they beat Duke Tip to
finish on Saturday. Um, Colorado is not a good basketball team.

(01:25:11):
They're they're not based upon anything the fifteen games previous
and they just I I called the Oregon organ State game.
And so in preparing for uh both of those two teams,
I watched their games against Colorado, and my takeaway was
Colorado is not good because that's my analysis fifteen years
of basketball, Like they're not good. Personnel, not good enough.

(01:25:31):
I like Tad Boyle, but some young pieces lead scores
only a freshman, some young pieces and just some pieces
that aren't that good, aren't that deep. And they beat
Arizona and Arizona State and then Michigan State, who is
the number one team the country, goes in and like,
how do they kick their ass? So I guess my
takeaway from college basketball is that the best are just

(01:25:53):
not that much better than everybody else. They're just slightly better,
more awardined analysis in college basketball. But kind have been crazy.
I've been crazy. But let's get to what everybody's talking about.
Dan's bell choked without Chiefs, right, And I'm not. I'm
not bitter that the that the Chiefs. Uh, It's not

(01:26:16):
as much that the Chiefs didn't run the football, right.
I can't tell you what type of fronts they were
facing when they're going against the Tennessee Titans, but I
can't tell you that, Like, look, the two safest guys
to either The safest place for Alex Smith is to
throw it to Travis Kelsey or to hand it to
Kareem Hunt. And Travis Kelsey was out of the game.

(01:26:42):
They're up to three at half. That should be at home.
And it's not like Kansas City. It's not like Kansa
City is any of these other places. Like the toughest
environments I feel like in the NFL, Minnesota, which you'll
see this weekend, is really really loud, really raucous, and
that team's fast. I'd say the Saints at the New
Orleans a dead dome that plays who we have on
with this last week who said that it's like a

(01:27:03):
part of Alvin Kamara said, like it's like a party there.
That those two in Kansas City, I would say, are
the three toughest home atmospheres. Philly is too, like g Lette,
they win a tone let. They've only lost three playoff
games in the Belichick Brady era at home. But I
think some of that and some of it's cold and

(01:27:25):
the fact that Brady can throw in the cold, but
some and some of it's the fact that they're really
well coached, and they're really good teams, and they're generally
playing against inferior competition. I think more so than the crowd.
Kanci's got great fans, but God, that Kansas City chief,
that thing, didn't they Marcus Mariotta throws two touchdown passes,

(01:27:48):
catches his own touchdown pass, and then has the game
winning block and they only had one of their two
running backs, Derrick Henry just a hoss, all right. And
if you're not from the South or haven't lived in
the Midwest and you don't know what a hoss is,
or you're like, what's the hoss, go turn on the
tape of Derrick Henry running the football twenty six times

(01:28:11):
hundred fifty six yards as a hoss, just carrying dudes
with him. He's giving the ball, He's giving the ball.
They fed him till he burped. They were trailing, and
they gave him the ball two and a half times
as much as Kareem Hunt. And they were leading for
the Kansas City Chiefs. So I like, you know, I'd

(01:28:35):
hate to not be critical of Andy Reid. I'd love
to blame it on Alex Smith. And I do know
that Alex Smith has his flaws, like whether or not
he ends up in Phoenix or he ends up in Cleveland.
A lot of people think he's gonna be in Cleveland.
How he could end up in d C. People haven't
mentioned Alex Smith could end up in d C or

(01:28:55):
he ends up in Denver, like one of those three spots.
Alex Smith is not great, but you know what you're
gonna get right, And he's coming off a career year
twenty touchdowns, five interceptions. You take Travis Kelsey out, that's big,
it's big, And that was one of those hits to
which you're like they're winning at the time. You're like, oh,

(01:29:17):
that that one's gonna come it feels like it feels
like that play is gonna come back and be memorable
sure enough. And you don't have your best weapon, you
look completely different. It was a lot like, frankly, how
the Patriots look when they didn't have Rob Durnkowski, that's him.
How important tight ends are, especially really really good ones.
But God, they chief that thing, didn't they. I mean

(01:29:38):
I was sitting there and going, like, they have twenty
one to three at the half, and I remember we
went outside. I was I was im Portland over the
weekend in Buddy's house. We went up and stayed after
calling the Organ Organ State game, and we decided to
play catch with the boys outside, play billow baseball, catch
you in between rain drops. Shocker was raining all the
time in Oregon this weekend. Um, And I remember sitting

(01:30:01):
out there going going, should we go back here and
watch the che said the Tennessee is not any good.
The Chiefs are dominating the game. And then Tennessee started
playing in the Chiefs just shut it down, really really studying. Um,
Buffalo loses to Jacksonville. Everybody's killing Blake Burrels and they should,
but I don't think enough people are killing Tyrod Taylor.

(01:30:24):
Remember Tyrod Taylor came out with comments earlier in the
year he didn't like being called a running quarterback that
he thought it was racist in nature because he's black. Like, no,
it's not. You're little, you're not terribly accurate as you're
not a great passer, and you're super fast, whether you
were white, black, mixed race, Asian, Mexican, we don't care.
You're a running quarterback. And I and I think, I

(01:30:48):
don't know, but I think that and I and look,
he got hit really hard and that was a scary
That was a scary hit. And I hope Tyrod Taylor
is okay because that was a nasty hit. And Nathan Peterman,
did you guys see the stat He threw fifty two
passes this year, five were intercepted, a six wintercepted. Excuse me,
six wintercepted. What's that ratio? Can somebody work out the ratio?

(01:31:12):
I'm not good with ratios. Anybody know what the ratio is? There?
Like it was fifty. If it was fifty passes and
five interceptions, that's ten to one for every ten passes
one was the interception. This is worse than ten to
one over eight and had just slightly over eight. It's
like eight point seven five to one. That's that's not good.

(01:31:34):
That's generally not good. Every every nine throws you could
bank on one being intercepted by Nathan Peterman. Like that's
remarkably bad. And I we we we wondered out loud
last week whether or not whether or not the Buffalo
Bills would fool themselves into believing that they had their

(01:31:55):
quarterback with Tyrod Taylor because they made the playoffs. And
I got to tell you, I can't see a way
in which they fool themselves again. Like we're all Jacksonville
knows what they have. They're trying to hide what they have.
They are full, they are well aware. Like dude, we're
well aware. We got a problem. We just can't fix
it right now. You know. Now for the Candie Chiefs,

(01:32:26):
they've at least a just addressed the problem. We know
we got a problem. That's how we got Pat Mahomes
and so Alex Smith will be playing elsewhere next year.
That's just going to happen. Um. And by the way,
to the conversation of the previous hour about Cam Newton
to Tyrod Taylor, Tyrod Taylor a smaller, more diminutive. He's

(01:32:48):
listed six one. He's probably more than the five eleven
six ft variety athletic version of Cam Newton. He completed
sixty two and a half percent of his passes and
had a better quarterback raiding than Cam Newton this year.
He's not even the best running quarterback this year. But
the big takeaway from the weekend was really simple. Patriots

(01:33:10):
had the biggest win of the weekend. Right, I don't
think the page this is not a classic great Patriots team.
And and to the last week's discussion about giving away Garoppolo,
and I don't know if you realize this. Do you
know who led the NFL in sacks this year? Promise?
Do you know who led the NFL and sex this year?
What team? Did know? What played? Yeah, take and take

(01:33:33):
a guess. I would say Aaron Donald Donald. Um no,
that's remember he didn't else didn't play to start, hold
that out, but no he did not. Music. Do you
want to take a shot at this thing? Was it
Calais Campbell? It was not Calais Campbell who had like
foot five stacks in one game, Dan Buyer, would you
like to take a shot at this thing? And and please,
I hope you haven't looked it up. Um, I was

(01:33:54):
gonna say, Chandler Jones, Chandler Jones, that was a great call.
Chandler Jones had seventy sacks this year. Hey, jog my memory.
Where did Chandler Jones play last year before he was traded?
Before you standing? Yeah, New England? Yeah, Now, look, I
know there was some off the field stuff. Remember he
had the I don't know if it was synthetic weed
or whatever that he was on and maybe that's why

(01:34:15):
they got rid of him. And he was in a
contract year and they traded him away. Remember that when
he when you get naked, even naked or something. He's
naked two years, two years ago, two years ago. And
I feel like the beginning of the end of him
with the Patriots are like, yeah, we're we're getting off
this thing. But I mean, he had seventeen sacks this year,
seventeen And I'll grant you there's some other you know, J. J.

(01:34:38):
Watt didn't play whatever. But that's still the idea that
Bill Belichick always makes great trades, and the Garoppolo trade
and the present traded the only bad ones the Chandler
Jones won for a team that can't pressure the quarterback
seems like a bad trade. It seems like a bad one.
This So this is not nine against the past, twenty
six against the run, twenty ninth and overall defense. This

(01:35:01):
is not a great Patriots team. But you don't have
to be like we do all this all the time
in college bastard. Like, Uh, compare this duke team to
the two thousand duke team. Like why they don't have
to play the two thousand duke team? Like? All they
have to do is played this year's A c C
and then beat six teams in the n c A
tournament they win the national championship. They don't have to
play any of them, don't play last year's duke team

(01:35:22):
in the previous play. They don't have to play last
year's North Carolina team. All they have to play is
this year's North Carolina team place and for this year's
doing the Patriots team, which we would all think is flawed, right,
like Julian Edelman not playing right. And though they've added
some they've they've they've added cooks who can take the

(01:35:43):
top off the defense. Uh, they seem to be better
at running back. They've kind of reconfigured their offensive line
and the defense has improved some albeit some of it
is they're playing against the af C East late in
the season. The fact is this is not a great
page your team. But the Patriots are playing on a Saturday,

(01:36:05):
which means they get an extra day to prepare for
next week. They're playing the Titans, who are statistically far
and away the weakest of the playoff teams. Meanwhile, the
Pittsburgh Steelers get the Jacksonville Jaguars, who already beat them,
have a tremendous defense. They're gonna run the football and look,
there's there's two ways to beat the Steelers right. Either

(01:36:28):
do what New England does where you spread them out
and so you make their linebackers or safeties, you know,
cover a great tight end that's what's constant work for him.
Or with Ryan Shays here out, you just shorten the
game and run it right at them. You can't Blitzburgh
us if we just run the football. That's they did
last time. Defense, field position, short in the game, run

(01:36:48):
the football and occasionally take a shot, and that's what
they're gonna do. I don't know if Jacksonville can beat them,
but I think they can beat them up, and that
attrition of beating them up could be enough a long
with playing at home and having an extra day to
let them beat the Pittsburgh Steelers get back to the
super Bowl, and what if? What if it was the

(01:37:09):
Falcons they played again? All right, my buddy Clay Travis
gonna join us up coming next. As conditions on the
field change, so can your insurance needs. Talk with the

is game ready. Find an agent at Farmers dot com.
We'll go live to Hot Atlanta. Will the world implode

(01:37:31):
if Alabama wins another national championship? And doesn't the world
want Georgia to beat Nick Saban next? Car shopping can

(01:37:52):
Doug Olive Show, Fox Sports Radio. Uh. He has uh.
He has some zealots that follow him. He has some
people that don't like him. He is an opinionated colleague,
and I considered him a friend. He's Clay Travis. He
host out kicked the coverage, has the website as well,
out kicked the coverage. Where they got gear. They got
like a special Dennis frenchionly style UM newsletter where you

(01:38:14):
can only get special information and meet up with Clay
where I think that's that's where he is somewhere in Atlanta, Georgia.
Clay Travis joins us on the Doug Gotlieb Show. Um,
how big is your rat pack that you're traveling with?
You know what I have been this weekend? You know
I gotta get up that uh that last night, Um,
I was in bed by eleven o'clock. You know, I

(01:38:35):
got the We had to be over at the at
the venue by like five am this morning. And tonight
I knew today is such a long day because you
start off with that early morning radio show and then
you know this game won't end until I mean I
at least you won't be back to the hotel until
one thirty, maybe even to eastern the way these games
go down, and uh, and then I'll be right back

(01:38:56):
up at six am, you know, live on the radio
for four hours or three hours so I get a
couple of hours sleep. These these games are turns around,
so I just kind of tried to be chilled today.
I haven't had an alcoholic beverage. I haven't. I haven't
done much of anything, So get a little work in.
Just came back from the gym, head over to too much,
too much much, too much information on you go into
the gym and uh and and all that and and

(01:39:18):
the fact that you haven't a um. Okay, So here
was my perception of the all SEC all very very
southern event in a Southern venue. First of all, like
for both Georgia and Alabam fans couldn't work out any better, right, Like,
like you had whatever money you had to spend if
you're a Georgia fan to go to the Rose Bowl.
Now of a sudden, you get in your car, if
you can afford a ticket. You can sleep in your

(01:39:39):
own bed. Uh if you sleep if your team actually wins,
and it will be a phenomenal environment for a football game,
Like I don't like going to football games, but uh one,
the venues brand new, so so the replays will be
great and too, it would just be a great environment.
But nationally, I think the numbers aren't gonna be great
because in all Southern affair, people are kind of tired
of the SEC thing um. And even if they don't

(01:40:02):
like Alabama, it's not like Georgia is not like. It's
not gonna be a great watch, even if it is
a good football game. I think short term, probably a
lost for college football. But I think long term, I
think it's good that the the hate for the SEC
will build. If Alabama wins, the hate for Alabama will build,
And if Georgia wins, it brings a new player to
the SEC throne, a new team to despise nationally. So

(01:40:25):
I think long term, the hatred for the SEC makes
everybody try and bring down the SEC, and it'll drive
up the numbers in the future, even if the number
won't be great outside of Birmingham tonight. Yeah, I'm curious
to see what the what the ratings end up being.
I mean, I think you know this as well as
I do. A lot of it has to do with
how close the game is, because guys and girls out

(01:40:46):
there who might be bored will turn it on if
they see that the game's close in the third and
fourth quarter as they're gearing up for bed, particularly on
the East coast. I think ESPN is gonna be helped
a little bit late because they're starting the game earlier
than they have in past year years. So it's kicking
off at eight Eastern, which is only five on the
West coast, So I think it will start slowly but build.

(01:41:06):
And I know, for instance, my kids, I told my wife's, hey,
don't let him stay up and watch this whole game.
I wouldn't have done that if they had kicked it
off at nine eastern because it would have been tough
to let a fourth grader in the first grader stay
up past midnight. But if they stay up past eleven,
I think my wife's agreed to let that happen. So,
using kind of our house as a barometer, I think
for people in the Eastern and Central time zones, there
will be more people who are able to stay up

(01:41:28):
for the totality of the game. I think you're right
a little bit. I mean, I look, I think most
people would have preferred on a net national level if
Oklahoma had won, because Baker Mayfield is a love him
or hate him guy, and love him or hate him
guy in sports produces ratings because people either want to
watch that guy to root for him, or they want
to watch that guy to root against him. I don't
think there are really any villains. Maybe the SEC is

(01:41:49):
the evil empire in general, but I don't think there
are really any villains that you can point to on
the Alabama or the Georgia team. And frankly, I don't
even think there are that many players that your average
college football fan knows on these two teams, just because
the quarterbacks aren't exactly transcendent stars. Nick chubbets been around
for a long time Georgia's running back, but I don't
think he's attained like a Todd Gurley level of fame

(01:42:11):
or anything like that. He's never been a real Highest
PA Trophy contender, And so to me, I think this
is a fascinating game for a couple of reasons. One,
if Alabama wins, then the people who hate the SEC
can continue to just say, well, if the SEC is
not that good, it's just Alabama is really good and
they happen to be in the SEC. If Georgia wins, uh,
then Georgia would be the sixth different SEC team to

(01:42:33):
win a national title. Since that's almost half the league,
that's certainly half over half of the original ten teams
in the SEC, and so I think that then becomes
a pretty strong argument, not to mention that if you
look at Kirby Smart in his second year to win
a national championship, to beat for the pupil, to beat
the master, and also to combine that with what is

(01:42:55):
one of the best recruiting classes we've ever seen, maybe
just maybe the worm could start to turn a little
bit and people could start to look at Georgia and say,
wait a minute, how good is this team that Kirby
Smart is building If they can win national championship in
year two to meet Doug coming back from a seven
team point deficit like they did with a true freshman
quarterback going up against the Heisman Trophy quarterback on the

(01:43:17):
road in the Rose Bowl was a sign that this
team is not just ready to compete for a championship,
and they'd be ready to win one. You know. It's
what's interesting about the NFL. Clay Travis joining us from me,
I'll kick the coverage um the the end of I
I talked going into the weekend that I was going
to be interested to see if Buffalo would fool themselves
into thinking they had uh a solution at quarterback with

(01:43:39):
Tyrod Taylor because they made the playoffs because they backed
in the playoffs right, And the same was kind of
true with Tennessee at at head coach, right Mike Malarkey.
There are reports that he may be might be fired
even after the playoffs and down to three at the half,
it seemed like a formalted like that, dude's out. Now
they come back and beat the Chiefs on the road,
playing with house money, probably get beaten the this week

(01:44:00):
by the by the New England Patriots. Like what a
crazy turn of events for for Mike Malarkey who was
fired at the half based on Twitter and now is
going to take on the Patriots. Yeah, look I wanted
him fired at halftime. The Titans offense has not fit
Marcus Mariota all year. And what's frustrating, I think to
people who have watched the Titans play a lot, is

(01:44:21):
it's only when the Titans get down and basically say,
oh screw it, let's put Mariota in the shotgun and
let him call his own plays and start to start
to kind of run things, scramble, make plays everything else
that the Titan offense really seems to work, and then
that opens up things for Derrick Henry and everything else
associated with it. My hope is that that Malarkey is
going to make some changes. I will say this, you

(01:44:42):
know this. I mean, winning an NFL playoff game is
so hard to do, especially to win one on the road,
that I do think giving significant way to that performance
is worthy in terms of assessing his overall performance all
year long, and in particular, I think most Tight fans
would have said this year, Look, the goal is to
make the playoffs. They did it, And the goal is

(01:45:05):
if you get into playoffs, to win one game. Because
you've got a young twenty four year old quarterback, if
he can get a playoff win and then advance and
play and look, the final eight of the NFL, it's
a house money game against the Patriots. You look around
the league, how many good young quarterbacks are better than
Marcus Mariotta. How many guys out there would you rather
have who are under the age of twenty five or

(01:45:26):
twenty six? Right now, I think Mariota is kind of
at the upper echelon. Now. Granted, there are four guys
that are really studs in the NFL playoffs, right now Brady, Roethlisberger, Brees,
and Matt Ryan. I think it's fair to say all
four of those guys are really good, but I think
all of them are thirty three year older. So you know,
this gap between Brady and Mariota is I believe the
biggest gap we've ever seen between youngest quarterback playing in

(01:45:48):
a playoff game versus oldest. So you have to feel
a little bit good about the long range future of
the Titans with the book end tackles with Derrick Henry,
with Marcus Mariotta. Um, and uh we'll see what happens
on the road against the Patriots that certainly, when they
were down three, I thought Ma marqu was gonna get fired.
All right. Uh, so you're going to the game. How
good are your seats tonight? I'm in the press box
so good. I would rather I would rather be in

(01:46:11):
the press box. And then I'll leave. I've got a
bunch of buddies that are sitting all over the stadium,
So once the game kicks off, I'll go around to
a couple of different suites. I'll go down to a
couple of different seat locations, hang out, kind of visit
with those guys. And then uh, by the time it
gets to be like the you know, third quarters, so
I'll be back up in my seat and then you know,
the good thing about being uh in the press boxes,

(01:46:31):
you get to go to the field for the final
five minutes. So if it's a really close game, that's
pretty I mean, that's one of those moments where you
pinch yourself and say, I can't believe I get to
do this for a living. Uh, that you get to
stand on the sideline and watch how a massively important
college football game finishes the season. All right, man, enjoy
can't wait to hear the show tomorrow. Read Out kicked
the coverage. Of course they got the mail bag on Fridays,

(01:46:52):
which everybody loves. Everybody loves that stuff. That's like, it's
like it's like the sports version of Penthouse Forum. That's
really what. Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Um, I appreciate,
appreciate it always good, but good shown. What's Happy to
have you on Fox and happy to be on with you.
All right, that's Clay Travis. I'll kick to cover tomorrow morning,
six am Eastern three am. Little you wish it was

(01:47:13):
this season? Make tough jobs easier with the free Loana
tool program from Auto Zone from a C and engine
repaired to exhaust and break jobs. They're over a hundred
specially tools to help you get the job, to get
the job done right. Um, to get the job. I'm
reading this read it just says to get the job?
Is that what it's called? Isn't just to get the
job done right? Feel like something got something that got

(01:47:36):
cut off? Thanks I good folks at Auto Let's bring
in Dan Buyer. What do you got d there's a
bunch of NBA tonight trying to counter program that National
Championship game that you were just talking about. No Kevin
Durant as they faced the Nuggets, I'm talking of the
Golden State Warriors. Durant is gonna miss his third straight
game with a calf strain. Kauai Leonard off for the
Spurs tonight against the Kings because of a parcel partial

(01:47:59):
muscles air it is in his shoulder, and Blake Griffin's
been rolled out of the Clippers game tonight because of
a concussion. Hard Yes, not a surprise. They faced the
Atlanta Hawks tonight at Staples Center. So that's some MBA news.
And Draymond Green find dollars for criticizing officials. We'll get
more into that in the press coming up in about
fifteen minutes or so. You mentioned college football's national championship

(01:48:22):
as you were talking with Clay Travis from Atlanta kickoff
tonight eight fifteen Eastern time. Nick Saban, during the media
responsibilities that they had during the week in Atlanta, talked
earlier this week about the college football playoff system, and
it's interesting to hear on what side he is on.
If we had a system where it was full proof
in terms of what you had to do to qualify,

(01:48:44):
then I think you could say that it's fair, But
as long as it's subjective, it can't be totally fair.
Nick Saban, saying that maybe the college football playoff is
unfair to others, not to Alabama. They played for a
national championship tonight, Patriot said. Coach Bill Belichick says he
absolutely intends on return in to New England for the season.
NFL and the Players Union looking in the Panthers followed

(01:49:05):
concussion protocol for Cam Newton when he was hitting yesterday's
game against the Saints Bears. Higher Chief's offensive coordinator Matt
Naggy as the team's new head coach and Steeler's wide
receiver Antonio Brown, returned to practice today after missing the
final two games of the regular season with a calf
muscle injury. Looks to be a full go against Jacksonville
on Sunday. Doug Hey, let me ask you a question. Dan,

(01:49:25):
You've been in this business a long time. What do
you think of the Rick Carlisle versus h Jeff Goodman thing?
I don't. I I don't think that the NBA or
I would sign on the media. I usually reside on
the media sort of thing. I don't really think that
Carlyle's um reasoning is sane. I'm not so I would side.

(01:49:51):
I understand, like I think ESPN or whatever entity has
to make the judgment on what they do. But just
because of how they do it, I don't think that,
you know, coach, you shouldn't talk and there should be
this but but he's not a but he's not a coach,
he's a dad, right that. That's what where Carlisle is
saying is like, look, your ESPN, you're a rights holder, okay,

(01:50:13):
and you're following around a dad and covering a dad
and as if he's a story and quoting a dad
and giving him a platform, giving him your platform on
an equal platform as you're giving me. And I'm a
NBA championship winning head coach, like that, that that's what
he's saying, And like, look, I don't like generally the

(01:50:37):
your rights hold the it's it's a it's a bully tactic, right, Like, Hey,
you're paying is a bunch of money, and you gotta
broadcast our games the way we want our games to
be broadcast. I I fully am aware of the hypocrisy
to it. I don't like that, but I don't think
that's what he's what they're actually talking about. They're not
talking about not saying you can can't cover the NBA
the way you want to, like you want to have

(01:50:57):
Stephen A. Smith. It's just like nobody's like if you
disagree with Nick Wright and we're not even a right
solder at Fox Sports, like Nick Wright talks about the
NBA or I talked about the NBA, Like fine, whatever,
but you're you're giving a platform and following and reporting
on a dad who's taking a kid out of college,
who got caught shoplifting he never played a game to

(01:51:17):
like a second rate. Uh, first Division team in Lithuania
and a kid out of high school? Like, why are
you quoting a dad? We don't quote any other dad.
Steph Curry's dad is Del Curry was a damn good
player and a broadcaster. Has anybody ever gone like, hey,
did you like Mark Jackson? Do you like how he
coached your son? How did you that like when they
lost the NBA? Plus who would you blame? Did you

(01:51:38):
like that that Kevin Durants coming and taking it? Then?
Like you don't asking those questions? You know why because
you don't do it? Like nobody does that? So and
and like I liked I personally like Jeff Goodman. He's
a friend of mine. I think he's awesome because he's
not afraid. He's not scared of talking about even his
writing about even his friends. You're right about anybody didn't care?

(01:52:00):
Are he gotta stories? Go with it? But like we're
quoting a dad. Thank God, nobody quoted my dad after
a game. My dad was a former coach, But dad
say crazy things. I The point that that I think
is is wrong is the the the message that I

(01:52:22):
don't know if it's USA today that came out with it,
that the credentials would be revoked to reporters who interviewed
LaVar Ball. Interview a dad, interview a dad and give
him a platform, like and it's not a it's not
And you're not doing a story. We're like, we're not
doing a story on LaVar and some of his techniques.
You're not doing a story on LaVar and anything else.

(01:52:42):
You're asking a dad his opinion about a team in
the NBA, Like why would you? Who else do we
do that for? You're not TMZ, Like that's that's TMZ stuff.
T MZ is get you in an airport, some guy
who's who just has a has a has a phone
and use the phone and goes like, hey, hey Dan buyer, Dan,

(01:53:03):
what do you think about LaVar Ball? What do you
think about Lonzo Ball and the Lakers losing to the thunder?
Like who you don't do? Like don't you don't you
shouldn't you be held to a higher standard? Sure? And
I think that's then the decision by ESPN. And I
don't think that ESPN is is getting all rave reviews
for their coverage of LaVar Ball. But to have an

(01:53:26):
NBA coach or an NBA franchise trying to tell a
media entity or a reporter on who they can and
who they can't talk to. Doesn't seem that fair, and
that's what I'm against. Who see I I disagree here
because I would say that I think what he's what
he's saying, I think we're taking it as uh, what's
it called? When the sense we we take it as censorship, right,

(01:53:48):
is hey, we tell you who you can and can't. Argument, right,
That's that's the argument you're making, Okay. But I I
think that what they're saying is like, look, we're not
saying you can't interview normal people, but you're you're following
around and reporting on a dad Like tell me when
in sports? And why this guy? Like why like are

(01:54:09):
you are you single handedly trying to create this big
baller brand? Like why is it super super interesting that
you know there's been other players that have gone and
played overseas and skip college rank much higher than lie
Angelo ball. Why is that? I don't I don't really

(01:54:29):
that what he's saying is, hey, look, this is our product.
This is what I believe Rick Carlisle saying, and he's
probably not saying it eloquently enough. And what I didn't
even know there was an NBA Players Coach Players Association thing. Um.
But what he's what he's saying is like, look, you're
the NBA. We had to protect our product, just like

(01:54:50):
we wouldn't put it on any second rate network. Just
like we have a we have a dress code for
players in the bench, We have a dress code for
players that are playing in the game. Just yeah, you
have to tuck in your your shirt into your shorts,
you have to have certain NBA socks. There are certain
people to which they don't deserve. They don't haven't earned
the right to have the platform to comment on a

(01:55:11):
coach or on a player in the NBA outside of
their own son. Do you want to ask him about
Alonzo ball or how Alonzo is is adjusting to life
in the NBA? All right, ask him every now and again,
But to follow him around and report on his opinion
about a team that he spends no time around. I
kind of agree with, Like, what are we doing? I

(01:55:34):
don't think that's I honestly don't think that censorship. I
think that's protecting the value of your product. Let's not devalue.
Go ahead, Who are they protect? Like, who is he protecting.
Is he trying to protect Luke Walton? Is he trying
to protect the Lakers? Is he trying to protect the brand?
And I mean by that like Rick Carlisle step or

(01:55:54):
stand up for one of the head coaches in the NBA.
He is, but he's also standing up for the NBA itself. Hey,
we're better than that, Like, we don't want to be
a league than which you cover. We cover the parents,
trust me. Like, if you ever sat in a parents section,
it's crazy, I guess craziness. And so like, now we're
gonna cover all these parents, is like that what we're
that we're gonna do? Like where does it stop? So
what he's saying is like, hey, the interview and and

(01:56:16):
other other other teams are gonna do this, Like hey,
if you interview parents, we're just not gonna give you
credentials because we don't you know, you're gonna be TMZ
and we're not gonna credential you for a game. You
want to be a legit reporter reporting the team, talk
to the players, talk to the coaches, talk to the gms,
talk to front office people. Like fine, fine, if you're
gonna talk about fans and parents, then that's something completely different.

(01:56:37):
By the way, did you hear it? Luke said, do
we have what Luke said last night? This is this
is like like the this is the great elephant in
the room. Way to handle it? So, Luke Walton was
asked after the game they beat the Hawks, and last
night he was asked about taking out Lonzo early in
the earlier than normal in the first and third quarters.
Here's was funds. How good was that? Right? Right? He

(01:57:10):
didn't do the Belichick. I haven't read that story. Right,
of course you've read this story again. I'm with you, Dan.
In terms of censorship, I don't believe this is censors
Your censorship does exist for a reason. And this is
a perfect example why. Just like you can't say f
F F d F on a microphone, you just there

(01:57:32):
has to be a limit to who you should interview
under what context, And interviewing LaVar ball Uh and asking
him his opinion about the l A Lakers is not
how the NBA I believe, or the at least the
NBA coaches believe their league should be covered. And I
can't say I disagree with it as conditions on the
field chain, So can your insurance needs talk with Farmers

Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, I think Georgia wins. He said, like,
I know, I'm supposed to be some big prediction thing whatever.
I think Georgia wins. Um. Yeah, I just I'm not
a big jail and hurt sky. I don't think he's

(01:58:36):
a very accurate throw. I don't think he's improved enough.
I do know he led Alabama on what would have
been a game winning drive last year, and he does
have the experience of being Alabama's quarterback for two years.
He's a really good athlete, and uh all that's great. Uh,
I think Georgia wins. Let's get to the press, the press.

(01:58:56):
Wouldn't you love a bigger tax refund? Tax slayer was
recently rated number one, and a maximum refund to get
more cash spent on whatever the heck you want to
spend it on. Match your refund at tax slayer dot com.
Dan buyo what he got Buyer, Larry gone All, Davis

(01:59:17):
joins L Davis joined just tomorrow. Danny Cannell Danny Canell
is down in Atlanta, boy for a for an sec Hayter,
this has gotta be you gotta be a tough deal. Well,
I'll tell you what you mentioned that you think George
is gonna beat Alabama. Some feel that Alabama maybe unbeatable.
One of those people is not Georgia head coach Kirby
Smart honestly believe that the league is more equal than

(01:59:39):
it's ever been. And that's mainly because I think maybe
Alabama is not as unbeatable as they have been, and
they've had games that were closer. You look at their
margin and victory on Texas A and M in Mississippi State.
I think the league is closer to even. Kirby Smarts
theory there interesting. I would say it is closer to
even because the quarterback play has been so bad, and

(02:00:00):
I do think Georgia actually has a couple of good quarterbacks.
Like one of the things kind of lost in the
Georgia thing is you don't realize that in addition to
from they also have Jacob Easton. Easton got hurt, but
Easton was the number one rated quarterback in the world.
Um uh in, number one rated quarterback in the world
coming out of coming out of high school. So and
the question is will he transfer out? If he does

(02:00:23):
transfer out, um, you know where will he land? But
like I think, athletically, yeah, there's a bunch of a
bunch of teams that are even but there's such been
such a paucity of quarterback play it's allowed for teams
that aren't as good to hang around. Georgia has like
two of everything. It seems like two quarterbacks to running backs.

(02:00:43):
Uh Patrick's headed coach Bill Belichick told reporters at a
conference call today and whether he read the peace on
the es piano that said there was friction between the
coach Tom Brady and owner Robert Kraft. I don't really
know what you're talking about. Again, I haven't read the article,
so I don't know what that refers to. But look,
we've been through this before, and I know you want
to report on things that are inaccurate and unattributable. And

(02:01:05):
I'm not really interested in responding to all those you know,
random uh, And I would say in a lot of
cases baseless comments. Look, i mean, if there was a
team he was gonna leave for, it would make sense
that it's the Giants. And um, he has a ton
of respect for the Mayra family. Of course, he's from

(02:01:27):
the Parcels tree. And you wouldn't be playing against the
Patriots every year. And they're gonna have a chance to
remake themselves with the new quarterback. And they have Odell
Beckham Jr. And a and a decent defenseive deficent personnel,
though you know they need some discipline that defensive side
of the football. I just I mean maybe, well, look,

(02:01:47):
I'm never gonna say no one's ever leaving, because anytime
you say that, somebody always leaves. But we're on a Cincinnati.
We knew that Justin timber Lake is going to be
the halftime performer for Super Bowl fifty two. Now we
know that Pink is going to be singing the national
anthem prior to the game in Minneapol. Who's gonna be
seeing God Bless America. That's but justin Jim Berlake is great. Right.

(02:02:09):
The new song stinks. I'm not a fan, but i've
always I don't even know the news it's I think
it's called filthy, and I have no idea what it is,
which means which means he's going to sing it, right.
That's the only thing about a bad new song is
he's gonna sing it because he's got so many other
songs and he can sing a dance, he can rap right,
he's married to Jessica Biel, he can act, he's got

(02:02:32):
good hair. I kind of hate him, kind of hate him.
I've been a fan of his for a long long time,
my way back to the instinct days. But I don't know.
This new song just didn't do it for me. Uh.
Warriors forward Draymond Green fight dollars for criticizing officials on Saturday. Yeah.
He says that the league needs a whole crop of
new officials because the current ones are taking things too personally. Yeah,

(02:02:55):
well that's not gonna happen, or just shut up and play.
There's that shut him black. I kicked my son off
the bench. She was in our AU game last night.
I kicked We had back to back games we lost
games we should have won. But I told him in
the first game, you complain about the refs, you're not
I have to kick you off the bench. We do
not complain about the rest. And you're eight years old.
Second game, he he drove in to traffic, jumps up

(02:03:17):
in the air, nowhere to go, gets called for traveling.
He's like a good failed. That was like go sitting
and go sitting the stands. He's crying and the stands
get out there and pressed. That was the press. Listen,
I'm not gonna be I'm not gonna be the dead
and like gott leaves kids and and a hole complaining
about the officials not gonna happen. He's eight. Gotta learned better.

(02:03:38):
I can't stop the feeling got that's gotta be sited saying, right,
do you do crimere River? Do you do mirrors? Gotta
keep it up beat, Doug uh. There's so many choose from.
We'll put together a song list at some point. I
hate Medley's I do. I hate Medley's Georgia Wins the Night?
Why because I said so
