All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Here's in the bonus with Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Show, The Bones Fox Morgin Hard Radio app. Welcome, Welcome,
welcome in. I hope you're doing great. Uh So, Sophie
Cunningham got a podcast on the volume, right, and I
guess here's here's the thing and we'll we'll play for you.
Probably her best cut from it where you're just like

(00:32):
where she talks about people who don't think Kaylen Clark
is the face of the league. Your idiots completely agree. Uh.
The challenge to Sophie is going to be right now,
she's like beloved, right, she's like a hot sports check
Like that's that's a hard one to top. And she's
also somehow gotten like an enforcer uh uh, sort of

(00:53):
credit because of how she she had the back of
Kaylen Clark, her teammate. Oh that's great. What I've find
fascinating though, is how they use the podcast to help
build her brand. And again, if it's me, I very
very lightly touch on the w NBA because that limits

(01:14):
people don't really care they care about her, and I
just think that she just needs to be herself. If
I was advising her. If I was producing her, if
I was building up that podcast, I would just say,
I want to know everything about Sophie because she's the
kind of woman who I think guys like and girls
kind of like, because she's she has the not so

(01:36):
subtle are not so subtle ability to not give a fuck.
She just doesn't care. Now, you gotta be careful how
you do it around with other players or what you
go into, Like we discussed this the money thing with
WNBA players and how you word it. People can resent it,

(01:57):
but her likability popular rating is all time high. The
only thing that can screw it up is if she
tries to be anything other than a real person. Just
be a real person. People will dig you. That's my advice.

Here's Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show talking about
Texas quarterback Arch Manning.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I don't think Arch Manning is coming out this one year.
And that's why I didn't think where the Cleveland Browns
and Nick Saban and Arch Manning. Okay, for all of
that to work, you have to end up with a
number one pick in the draft. I don't think they're
the worst team in the NFL. I think the Giants are.
Let's just say, let's go crystal ball here. Let's say
Texas plays great. Let's say they're in the national title picture.

(02:59):
Arch plays great, maybe a Heisman finalist invited to New York.
When does he have to declare?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
When?

Speaker 3 (03:08):
So the NFL regular season is over, We're going to
know what the draft order would be of worse teams
in football. He's got plenty of time, you would think,
to be able to get information on if he's going
to go pro or not. Let's say the Saints. Yeah,
if I'm March Manning, do I want to play for
my hometown team, what I want to play for the Giants?

(03:29):
What I want to play for the Browns? Or would
I want to go back to the University of Texas.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, I mean it's a harder decision now, and I
think quarterback you don't have the drop off of other
guys where you want to get more and more hours
under center and be more and more refined. I just
think anybody predicting what seven eight months from now looks
like it's just silly. I don't think to Dan is

(03:58):
wrong as of now. But if he has a great
year and he wins Eyes for Trophy and they could
be for national championship, they win a national championship, does
he go out like, yeah, probably, And if it's the Giants,
I think the answer is definitely right. You get to
go somewhere your uncle played, if it's New Orleans, you
get to go somewhere where your grandpa played. So none
of all those things. Indianapolis that's not crazy either. So

(04:21):
my big thing is stop and wait. And what I
think Dan has is an accurate portrayal of what would
happen if it happened today. But that doesn't mean that's
gonna happen in the in the coming year. That's what
the Fox said, I'd say.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Let's find out who what's annoying, Jason Stewart.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
And now it's your annoying. Hey Doug, If you I
want to get really pissed off, I encourage you to
read some of the coverage of the Sydney Sweeney gene
ad backlash to woke politics. So Sidney Sweeney is in

(05:16):
this commercial, Sidney Sweeney is like this hot twenty something
with curves, blonde, blue eyes, and I guess the American
Eagle gene brand has had her utilized genes and genes
two words sounds the same. Yeah. So people that get

(05:41):
offended for other cultures the woke culture really upset. And
this is why because they think that the video used
word genes instead of genes when discussing the actress to
unintentionally or deliberately refer to eugenics, a discredited theory that

(06:06):
held humanity could be improved through selective breeding for certain traits,
most notably the theory by the Nazis. I don't know how
you come out on this. I like looking at hot women,
so I'm in that camp. But I also want to
say that the more things you compare the Nazis, if

(06:30):
you say that our White House is filled with Nazis.
Our commander in chief is a Nazi. And then you
say that Sidney Sweeney is obviously spreading Nazi propaganda. You're
diminishing what the Nazis actually did during the Holocaust. So

(06:53):
it seems like a thing to do nowadays. Right.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Let's right, comminishing how bad the the Nazis were, right,
because when you say what they did, you'd be like, Okay,
what are you talking about positives?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Now?

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Are you talking about negatives? I just I don't Know's
here's my question. Are these real people that are offended?
Are we taking like one or two people who comment
on social media?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Oh? No, no, this is the woke mob.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Who tell me who the woke mob is? Like, again,
tell me who these people are, because you can find
you can find Remember one percent, there's three hundred and
fifty million people in America, right, so one percent of
America's three point five million people, correct, So you can

(07:41):
find half of one percent that's upset with everything on
either side. I'm telling you, I think you're falling into
the each classic trap of thinking this is a big
thing when it's not. And that's what's become very popular,
which is you pick out a couple of these idiots
who are on social media, and maybe I'm wrong, right,

(08:02):
Like we have other countries trying to recognize Palestine after
they fucking they kill fifteen hundred people in attech, Like
what do we You're rewarding them for that? Why they
even came back to hostages? Like what are you even
talking about? And I think a lot of the support
that they have garnered is because of people posting stuff

(08:24):
on social media which is completely untrue and just inflaming something.
I think we're doing the same thing here on a
smaller scale, on a less important scale, where we're inflaming this,
like it's a nobody cares about Sidney Sweeney in a
fucking jeens ad. By the way, brilliant marketing that we're
talking about it brilliant. I'm legit, Like I have to

(08:44):
hear it. Tell me a legitimate person whose name I recognize,
who has come out against Sydney's Sweeney and the ads
that say she's got good genes spelled with a J.
Don't get me wrong, right, people who are anti Sydney Sweeney,
anti hot chick showing off jeans is troublesome, Right, how

(09:09):
do we get to this point to where we're no
longer allowed to celebrate people that are more attractive than
we are.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
To me, that's the very crux at this Like the
backlash is half the Nazi propaganda, which is complete bullshit,
but half it's just like ugly women that are jealous
of a really hot chick. I'm gonna I'm just going
to co sign with Megan Kelly on this one. To

(09:35):
wrap it up. This is what she writes. I love
how the leftist meltdown over Sydney Sweeney has only resulted
in a beautiful white, blonde girl with blue eyes getting
a thousand times more exposure for her quote. Good genes,
there you go, good way to wrap it up. Tom

(09:55):
Brady has become the latest to comment on Scotty Scheffler.
A couple weeks back, we played it on this show
and Scotty Scheffler basically saying that he does not get
fulfillment winning championships. Yeah, at the end of the day,
it's just like where are we going for dinner? And
he talks about his family and the sacrifice of not

(10:21):
being with his family, how he loves the process, but
is he doing the right thing? So here's this is
what Brady writes, Scotty said he'd rather be a father
and husband than a good golfer. And my question is
why are those mutually exclusive. Sure there are different blocks
on the pyramid, but they're still a part of the
same pyramid. They're connected. For instance, I think a part

(10:43):
of being a great father is being a great example
of doing what it takes to take care of your family.
I chose to do it playing football, my dedication to
the sport, hours of practice and moments when I was
laser focused. Those were times when I believe I was
doing the best possible thing for my family by prioritis
my profession and teaching by example. When it takes what

(11:05):
it takes to be really good at your job, what
it takes to follow through on commitments, what it takes
to be a great teammate, and showing them by example
that work is the best part of all of our lives.
This is what I'm going to take one issue with
Tom Brady. Tom Brady is the opposite of scottis Shuffler.
He did get fulfillment from kicking people's ass, and when

(11:27):
asking what the best Super Bowl was, he would say
the next Super Bowl. He was very driven and spent
a lot of his life doing it. Tom Brady is
a divorced man with kids that probably resent him after
the roast. I think in a lot of ways he's

(11:50):
justifying things. I spent a ton of time away from
my family, but I was at the same time giving
them a great example to live by. I think Tom
Brady has spent a lot of time from his family
driving to be amazing, driving to be the best. And
that's what Scottie Chaffeur's issue is, Like, what does at

(12:13):
the end of the day matter, what matters being the
greatest at your sport or being the greatest father slash
husband I could be. Tom Brady obviously failed at that part, right.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
I think that's totally unfair, dude. I'm just telling you,
it's fucking unfair. I honestly think that it's like the
most unfair you've ever been to another person that he
failed as a father because he was pursuing You don't
have any idea what was going on home. You didn't
have any idea of how they worked it. You didn't

(12:47):
have any idea about any of that shit, none of it,
none of it. And yeah, it strikes a little close
to home to me because I was working. Then I
went through a divorce, and you know, all I ever
wanted the entire time I was separated from my even
now obviously, and I chose to take this job. And
I felt like if I didn't take this job as

(13:09):
a basketball coach, not the radio shows, that I would
never get that opportunity again. And I had to decide
in I had to decide, like, hey, is it worth
My son is in high school in a different state now. Again,
some of that is his choice, some of that is
his mom's choice, but it's a It fucking sucks, okay,
But I can't tell my kids to pursue their dreams

(13:31):
and then not pursue mine, because then what ends up
happening is the resentment that you're saying his kids have
towards him, which you don't have any clue of. You're
speaking of something you have no fucking idea about. Then
you end up resenting your children or resenting your wife,
because that's not how you're wired. You have to do
what is what makes you the best version of yourself.

(13:52):
And if it's Scotty Sheffell, that's fine. I would say
it's probably a fifty to fifty and if that's how
you feel, Jason's like, hey, I'm not gonna do anything
that that's great. That's great. Husband and wife does differ.
And my thing is even now, like I think my
ex wife should champion me. Here's I put myself out
there in front of the whole world to potentially and

(14:15):
and again at a level where you're supposed to fail
before this before the conference schedule even starts, right, it's
really really hard this level basketball. I think it's incredibly brave.
I think it's super ambitious. I think it's something that
very few people would be willing to try. But that's
not a perspective that's shared by everybody, just like Tom
Brady's perspective is not shared by everybody. Like to me again,

(14:39):
if if if my ex wife wants to say, hey,
you chose to live away from your kids, Okay, fine,
we live in Newport Beach and I worked in Sherman Oaks.
That was your choice, and you wouldn't move right, So
I spent three hours in the car every day. I
guarantee that Tom Brady, in effort to be a great
dad when he was when he was playing for the Patriots,
he would get get in his car and he would
bust his ass to get home because all you want

(15:00):
to do is be home when you can be home,
but you have a job to do. This is what
you put on earth to do, and it's probably the
constant pull that ultimately led to him being out of football.
You know, how do you know he failed as That's
fucking bullshit. Honestly, Jays, he failed as a father. How
do you know? I don't know if his kids love
him or if his kids despise him. Neither do you,

(15:22):
and labeling as such because an opinion that he has
is incredibly unfair.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
So what percentage do you think of Tom Brady's willingness
to put as much time in his work as possible
had to do with what he is admitting here. I'm
calling bullshit on what he says. How much of it
it was trying to set a good example for his kids.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I think he's I think that's exactly what he's done.
That's exactly what he's done. I don't think. I don't
call any bullshit on it. That was his mentality. His
mentality is I can do something that no one on
else or else on earth can do, and I'm gonna
do it until my body says you can't do it anymore.
I zero percent that I think is bullshit. I think

(16:14):
that's how he's wired. I was wired. You know. I'll
just again, I'll share with you my my my ex wife,
she's like, man, you coached basketball au basketball instead of
being with my daughters when they were in high school.
Like they're girls, they're in high school. They on the weekends,

(16:35):
they don't want to hang around their dad all day.
They're with their friends. And yes, I did, but I
didn't at the time join a country club. You know,
lots of dads when their kids are in high school,
they go and they go to country club, they go
on guys trips. I didn't do it that shit. So yeah, again,
Scottie Scheffler's entitled to his opinion and his way of thinking.
And I'll have them work life balance. That's great. But

(16:58):
I can tell you right now that if you a
lot of guys, I don't think everybody, but a lot
of guys will turn down opportunities for their kids. And
you got to make sure that you don't want to
resent your kids. At the end of the day, you
don't want them to resent you or your job. But
you also don't want to resent them hard one and

(17:23):
you want to you want to talk about annoying. It's
fucking annoying when it's portrayed in the media that only
women are heroic for leaving their child at home to
go to work. Oh, she's a working mom, like I'm
a working dad. It doesn't suck any less. To leave
home doesn't suck an outslet Any working dad who's listening

(17:48):
to this is not in their head going it fucking
blows to walk out there when they're little. I mean, honestly, Jason,
the reason I left ESPN is really really simple. I
worked in the afternoon there. My show there was on
four to seven, so I would liked I would be
in at two o'clock every day. And then during college

(18:09):
basketball season, I wasn't walking out of the building until
one thirty. And I was offered a five year guaranteed contract,
but it was for the four to seven slot, and
they were all coming up on school age and the
thought and then I was, and I was I basically said,
like that's gonna be. It was right, number, right years,
Everything was right. And then I was walking around with

(18:30):
a buddy after we had dinner with wives and husbands whatever,
And we were at a casino. The wives went in
to watch Sarah McLoughlin and the guys walked around and gambled,
and I was with a buddy of mine and he
was like, man, I really like coaching your daughters in soccer.
They were awesome, They're so funny. You should do it
next year. And all of a sudden it dawn in
my head, I will never coach my daughters in soccer
during a week because I'm not home until seven thirty.

(18:52):
I physically can't get home until seven thirty or seven
forty five, right, And so I left that company and
went to another company in an effort to be as
good a dat as I could while still pursuing a career.
And it was a mistake. It was a mistake, but
with the intentions were of spending more time with my kids.

(19:15):
So there are things you can do within it and
do the best you can. But like, if you're gone
to work during the day and their school age, that's okay.
They're in school and they're your friends. You don't need
to hover. So what else do you have for annoying?

Speaker 4 (19:38):
That's it? That In the Sydney Sweeney I.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Think the Sydney Sweeny thing is just I mean, anybody, like,
when did we get to this point to where beautiful
women and a play on words which is super clever
and easy is a bad thing. I don't think it
represents any huge percentage of woke America. I think this
is a very small percentage of fucking annoying people who

(20:06):
they just can't have fun with life. And by the way,
there's each side of the aisle on that one. But
to those people you annoy, why are we doing this
because we can?

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Hey, Sophie Coneham as a podcast, I want to say,
it's on the Volume network. Her co host is some
dude from Bravo that I've never heard of, but she
had her first podcast and she made some waves, including
this comment.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
It literally like pisses me off, And people are like,
she's not the face of the league.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Who would be what, Sabrina?

Speaker 2 (20:47):
No, No, there's really good, well known people in our league.
I'm not discreating them like we have a lot of
badasses in our league. Like, hell, yeah to that, I'm
off for that. But when people will try to argue
that she's not the face of our league, yeah, or
if Arlee would be where we're at without her. You're
dumbest shit. You're literally dumbst fuck.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I downloaded, subscribed, and rated as soon as I heard
that comment, right, I mean what it's it's it's brilliant.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
She is saucy, though I do like her a lot.
She's funny, she's she's doing she's she's using the spotlight
perfectly lately correct.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
She she gets it.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Hot girls eat Arbi's that T shirt was so good.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
It's beautiful. I mean, she, like you said, she gets it,
She's in on it, she understands it well. I can
play for you because we can. That's it for the
end the Modust Podcast. You got the radio show three
