Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I hope you're having

(00:23):
a great day. Summer is here. It's a Friday. We
take nothing seriously on a Friday. Although although something big
happened last night in the world of sports. No, it
wasn't the Major League Baseball trade deadline, with the Twins
trading Ray essentially half of their roster. No, that wasn't it. No,

(00:45):
it was in Lebron James working out at what appeared
to be the Clippers facility. That's not it. No, it's
not even Micah Parsons and we'll get to him. And
you heard that update. It's not even Micah Parsons. No,
that ain't it. There was football on television last night.
Charger football on television last night.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Jodyes choch O Chargosco has shades on TV last night,
pretty pretty outstanding stuff. We got a lot to get to.
This is the Doug ott Leeb Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. Okay, I'll give you. I'm gonna give you
just a quick, really really really quick thing on Trey
Lance in fifteen minutes. Okay, Trey Lance was outstanding last night.

(01:33):
But it's really funny what happens when a guy in
a preseason game plays well and we're like, oh, I
hadn't thought of Trey Lance in a long time. That's
in fifteen minutes. In the meantime, there's a report from
Diana Rossini which is backed up by Micah Parsons actually
posting this himself that Micah Parsons Cowboys relationship as the

(01:54):
tiory to the point with a star pass rusher is
considering drastic measures, which include a trade request or even
a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team.
For multiple sources familiar with the situation, the two sides
remain far apart heading into the second week of training
camp and are not currently negotiating. Here's Michael Parsons in
his own words. Ready, Okay, yes, I wanted to be here.

(02:19):
I did everything I could to show. I wanted to
be a cowboy where the star on the helmet. I
wanted to play in front of the best fans in
sports and make this America's team once again, the team
I pops, and I grew up cheering, cheering for way
up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, I no longer want to
be here. I no longer want to be held to

(02:41):
closed door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer
want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying
it on the line for the organization are fans and
my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread
to the media about me. By the way, this is
last month. This is Jerry Jones, the owner of the

(03:01):
Team's a little bit what he was talking about. This
is Jerry Jones talking about Parsons.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Just because we've signed him doesn't mean we're going to
have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously,
we've signed I remember signing a player for the highest
paid as the position in the league and he got
knocked out two thirds of the year Dark Prescott. So
there's a lot of things you can think about, just
as the player does when you're thinking about committing and

(03:26):
guaranteeing money.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
So look, it's a negotiation. Do you want to know
my level of freak out there? It is And I'm
not a Cowboy fan, but even the negotiations is silly.
The Cowboys have to do zero nothing, They don't have
to negotiate at all, and they can simply franchise attack

(03:48):
him for the next three years. Nothing he can do
about that. Now he'd be compensated at an average of
the top five salaries at his position in the league.
He would hamper the Cowboys' ability to field a really
good defense or maybe even good offense because it take
ups such a large portion of their salary cap. All
those things are true. But between scrubbing whatever from social media,

(04:16):
whatever you want to call it, and like, well, my
agent wasn't present, Like if you wanted your agent there,
your agent could have been there.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
You know.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
This is this is not like your Miranda rights. We're like, hey,
you didn't meet me and my random rights and I
could I could have a lawyer here, Like you can
have an agent there. You can have an agent there.
And I'm sure part of the discussion. We talked about
this a lot. We'll talk about with Mark Dominic the
extended years, all the language that includes non guaranteed stuff.

(04:50):
That's more for the agent than for the player. That's
for the agent to go say, look at what I
got Micah Parsons. Two hundred and eighty billion dollars. Yeah,
there was like one hundred and twenty guaranteed million. No,
I got two under eighty billion dollars for Michael Parsons
non guarantee. But that's because the NFL owners don't want
to guarantee stuff, like, come on, dude. The guess is

(05:14):
that the agent wanted just some obscene change the position,
change all the scale of the position. The team said, hey, Micah,
we were good here, you want to be here, let's
kind of try and figure this thing out. It wasn't
going the way he thought. He reached back out to
the agent. The Angels like, wait, you were negotiating without me.
There were out trade me right now. But from Russell

(05:39):
Wilson back when he's in Seattle, to Tyreek Hill to
like you just kind of go through it. All these
guys they all do the same thing. Now, if the
Cowboys want to trade him, Mike, if somebody's gonna give
him two first round picks and they don't think they're
a playoff team. Then you trade Michael Parsons. No big deal.

(05:59):
But Parsons has gotten hurt. He does do his podcast,
which can cause him to be He says things that
you don't need to be saying in a public forum
about his team, about football, about whatever. And he's a star.
But he was better in the old system, not the
news system. So yeah, Jerry Jones says, every right to go, Like,

(06:24):
I got to be cautious about how much money I
give guaranteed because this guy got hurt last year. He's
gonna get older, he plays really hard. Maybe he's injury prone.
I don't know. So I don't know how you feel
about it, but my feeling about it is, Michael Parsons
be a cowboy. He'll play for the Cowboys. They'll acquiesce

(06:44):
and give him some sort of new contract. He'll claim victory,
Cowboys will claim victory, and he'll play the rest of
his career for the Cowboys as long as he's good.
So he's not good, then they get rid of him.
How do I know that? Because that's what happened with
all these guys. And oh yeah, by the way, all
the hissy fits, all the posts on social media, it

(07:06):
does feel like a lot more than EMMITTT Smith sitting
a couple of games, or even Ezekiel Elliott threatening. It's true,
but part of that is that's the generation, and that's
who Micah Parsons is. You know, he's tried to carve
a path for himself off the football field with his
podcast and being a great interview as well as a

(07:29):
tremendous football player, and so because of it, I think
he thinks this is a normal course of action. But
this is no different than pick any guy we want
that end up signing a deal to remain with their
team when they're under contract for their fifth year rookie option.
And it sounds good, it looks tough, but we all

(07:51):
know we've watched the Cowboys for years. Jerio acquiesce, Jerio
Gibb new contract, They'll pretend like they're best friends and
we move on. Do any of you guys in the
studio think think differently? I mean, I just I can't
see it going any differently than that in any way
that would go counter to most everything we've seen from

(08:14):
Jerry Jones during his tenure, especially the last fifteen years
or so during his during his tenure. No chance. Yeah,
we're gonna like let that guy walk, or we're gonna
trade him on his demands, nothings, no things. I don't
see it. I see this as negotiating tech. This is

(08:37):
no different than you're in a car dealership and the
last line of defense you have is to walk out
the door and hope they call you back.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
I'm walking out of the door. Yeah, I'm marking out
of the door. You walk out of the door. Like
and the Cowboys they've seen these trade requests in the past.
I'm sure they're not flinching. He's still giv memember the Cowboys.
Somebody wants to make them some ridiculous offer, and then
they'll be like, hey, and that's really what these things are.
These things are really are really a cry to the

(09:10):
rest of the league, Hey, come trade for me. The
problem with trading for Mike comparisons is you're going to
trade for him, going to take you at least two
first round picks to get him, and then you have
to give him the biggest contract anyone's ever received at
that position. Otherwise he doesn't want to go there either,
and you're in the same position. So we do this
thing as fans and as broadcasters where we act like

(09:31):
Jerry Jones should just write a blank check. Well, there's
a scale there. I have no doubt they want to
keep him. I have no doubt they want to compensate him.
But there's somewhere in between wanting to keep him and
a contract that unsettles the entire apple cart and where
the Cowboys want to get to and that's where negotiations land.

(09:52):
All right. Coming up next to The Doug Gottlieb Show
here on Fox Sports Radio, you need to hear what
Jim Harbaugh had to say about Trey Lance's perform in
the Hall of Fame game. Oh that's if you knew
Trey Lance played in the Hall of Fame game. That's next.

iHeartRadio app by searching FSR. It's the Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio. I think we discussed it on the show,
but it's funny a lot of other people came around
to it, which is, how many people do you think
knew that Trey Lance was on the Chargers before last night?

(10:40):
Chase Doo? What like percentage of people you think?

Speaker 5 (10:45):
Let's see seventeen and a half?

Speaker 1 (10:47):
There you go, good, guess that's all you's your guests,
I know when you were trying to guess what people
think and know and we have no real real clue.
I get it.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
It's my favorite part of the show.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
It's your favorite part of the show.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
I know.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
I'm gonna say eight percent, Doug, eight percent of the
general public knew that Trey Lance had gone to the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Well, I think people forgot that he's been with the Cowboys, right,
just again, like, go back and look at last season.
Go back and look at last season, and Cooper Rush
took over, Trey Lance was the third string quarterback and

(11:25):
he got to play in one he got to play
major snaps in one game, the last game of the season. Anyway,
here's Jim Harball's head coach with the Chargers, talking about
his performance last night, which was really good. Trey Lance.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Uh, you know, big night for Trey. Just played calm,
played cool, collected, ran the ran the operation. Thought he
threw the ball really well. I thought he really he
had the same kind of composure and poise, you know,
just in control. I mean, it's a there's a presence
that that I've been seeing all camp. He's had a
heck of a camp and uh, and then he went

(12:00):
out in the game and did that. Just a feeling
of he needs game reps and just wanted to give
him that. That was the game, the game plan, you know,
get out there and plays. He's been playing good and
you know, college not as not as much as most
guys have coming out of college in terms of starts
and games. And then then he gets gets into pro

(12:21):
ball and you know, wins the starting job and.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Then gets hurt.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
So he hasn't had a lot of a lot of
game experience, and that's what we're trying to give him.
And he acquitted himself.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Well I need a guess here, Jason. He's been in
the league since twenty twenty one. Okay, it's too And
remember he was the third pick in the draft. How
many NFL games do you think he's appeared in? Don't
look I know that he did.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
He appeared in one game. I remember that one he
got hurt against the.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Bears, right backley, it's just San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
I think. So, yeah, there was a snow game.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Okay, he was a starter. He was a starter for
a short period of time in San Francisco. Okay, So
you want to venture a guess how many games? Remember
we're talking five years in the NFL. How many of
you thinks he's played it.

Speaker 5 (13:12):
I'll guess five, twelve.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Oh, I don't know if it starts. Twelve appearances in
the Nation Football League, and it's probably like in the
seven starts. And if you remember his senior year in
college or his last year in college at North Dakota State,
I believe they played like one game. That's it. So
twelve appearances, five starts. So what Jim Harbaugh is saying

(13:38):
isn't wrong. Remember, and Taylor Heineke is the other guy
he's competing with to be a backup in Taylor Henekey
has led the where they the Commanders then I think
the Commanders to the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Right.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
He's also been the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers.
So like, we know what we can do what he
can do. But it's really weird that people are like, dude,
Kyle Shanahan, what's he doing right? Jim Harbaugh's quarterback whish
for Like, he's played five years in the NFL. He
started five games. There's very few teams, if any, that

(14:12):
will start a quarterback week one of the preseason that
has started five games in the NFL that's been in
the league in his sixth year. Doesn't happen very rarely.
So he's supposed to perform well, he's supposed to be came.
They're not throwing exotic blitzes at him, and he has
worked really hard to improve his throwing mechanics because by

(14:32):
all estimation didn't throw a great ball. But like I
just I can't get geeked out, like, oh my gosh,
Chargers got a great backup if Trey Lance becomes the answer.
Chargers got me to problems. Cowboys last year locked at
lost Dak Prescott. There wasn't anybody going, like, you know,

(14:53):
we should really go to Trey Lance here. Thanks for

Speaker 7 (15:14):

be Now it's time for our Tyreck Play the day
from the Braves Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
OH one popped up, Maybe playable, Riley foul ground, Riley
has got it?

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Is it over?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Is it really over? Braids win it unbelievable. Braves win
at twelve eleven and extra innings against the Reds and
the craziest game we have seen this season.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, twelve eleven combined for thirty hits. Braves are forty
six and sixty two, so weird. So we'll get back
to what happened to the Braves. There's another sports franchise
who are like h burgeoning dynasty at bergend All right,

(16:13):
Mark Dominic joins us here for weekly visiting the Doug
Ottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio Coourse. Mark was the
former gentlem manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He worked
his whole life in professional football. So I love this one.
I don't know if you saw the addition to the
Micah Parsons saying I want to be traded. So Michael
Parsons came out. It was about an hour ago, guys
on social media, I don't want to be here anymore.
I won't be traded. And then Edwarder, who always has

(16:36):
more and has covered the Cowboys for years, like Michaeh.
Parsons is staying at Cowboys camp because he doesn't want
to incur a fifty thousand dollars fine, Like, yeah, I
cannot stand being here. I'm out, but I'm not gonna
leave because I don't want to lose fifty grand a day.
So yeah, help me help me with this mark likelihood

(16:57):
that Micah Parsons remains a Cowboy.

Speaker 8 (17:00):
I still think it's pretty strong. You know a lot
of times we've heard this one before, like I've always
wanted to be here, but it's just not going to
work out, and then Miles Garrett told us this story. Right,
what was it six months ago?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Yeah, he had the good bye letter. He had the
goodbye letter even that that was posted.

Speaker 8 (17:15):
It's right. So we've seen this song and dance before.
Not that I'm disappointed in Michael Parsons or having but
you know, obviously, if you read the article of what
Michael Parsons re wrote, and you kind of have to
trust that maybe he's telling the truth. What could have
felt like it. It just there hasn't been a lot
of good faith negotiations that were with his agent, and
you can have conversations with the player, but you know,

(17:37):
every club kind of knows that that's a little taboo,
and it doesn't even matter what the player really says
because at the end of the day, you know, the
agent's getting paid for a reason to be able to
help negotiate it. So look, I look at this whole
thing and say, it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
I get it.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
I don't think the Cowboys will trade him, and I
don't think that I think this is going to be
a two to week, two week, three week thing. And
I have a feeling that Michael Parsons will suddenly have
money solve the problems.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yeah, here's my guess on the agent thing, just to guess, right,
we kind of talked about the agents were the ones
that pushed for the longer guaranteed deals, but the agents
are the ones that have the non guaranteed things tacked
in because it helps them quote unquote win right in publicity. Yeah,
it feels like the agent was just trying to bleed
the cowboys and they probably pulled them aside, like look, dude,

(18:23):
like that deal is never getting done. Ever, here's a
real deal. You think about it and how it Then
he calls his agents like, yeah, they told me your
way off, here's the number, and the agent just hits
the roof.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
Yeah, you know what. I think there's a lot of
truth to that. I also think that it's the same
thing that happened with Trey Hendrickson. Is the market moved
so fast this year on defensive line, these elite pass rushers,
and so the agent, if the story is true, the
agent was right, you know, just let's just wait, let's
let some deals come through here, and then then we'll
come in and swoop it at the end and get
our number. The only thing I really think is happening

(19:00):
here is again, if it hasn't been any negotiations. Hard
to say, but I think, you know, I thought that
maybe Michael was pushing for a huge number, a number
that's going to blow everybody else out of the water,
and I thought that might be stilling the negotiations. The
market always moves. It used to be trying to get
a discount from a player if you did the deal early.
Now it's like you're getting the discount because you know

(19:20):
the market's going to continue to go up. At least
you're getting into discounts. It's hard, Doug when you kind
of listen to these things, because you know, three years
from now, everyone of these guys are signing out, pro
are going to be like, well, wait a second, look
what he's making. And so you've got to figure out
an organization, how do you want to handle it, and
how does the player respect the deal? When you're starting
to take these kind of numbers and putting them in reality.
Of forty million dollars a year, I mean, that's that's

(19:43):
just a hard number to fathom. But that's where we're at.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Stug Outlive Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, what
about the Cowboys as a team right there? Is the
there is the in the back of your mind like, well,
if I can be in a good and maybe we
move him. But again, the Cowboys are always trying to
make themselves at least above average, if not better. Where
are you on this Cowboys roster?

Speaker 8 (20:09):
I still think they're very competitive. I think, you know,
the Commanders obviously were spectacular last year, and so obviously
Eagles were champions, and so when you look at this division,
you know, the Giants seem like a long ways away,
and then those other three teams, so like a gamer
or a game or two apart. Totally, I still think
the Cowboys rosters certainly counted enough depend on the help

(20:29):
of how things go.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
You know.

Speaker 8 (20:30):
This has been interesting for me though. Michael Parsons is
a player that you know, you thought might get have
done earlier than it's gotten to this point. It kills
me also that maybe there's something that Cowboys feel about Micah,
whatever that is or whatever they may feel. It's just
this one's taking a little bit longer. Usually the Cowboys
like to get you to camp and then negotiate and
do the deal. That's how their mo is usually known
through the agent world. But this one's just not worked

(20:51):
out that way. So there's something else holding the Cowboys
back from really pulling the trigger, and that may be
something we never get to hear about until if he
does leave. But again, I think Micah Parsons in the
end the stage of Cowboy.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Stut Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio, Trey Lance
looks good last night, But I try to tell people now,
many people don't know who's on the Chargers, Like he
was on the Cowboys last year and their starting quarterback
went down and no one was like, hey, we got
to play Trey Lance. How do we process what we
saw last night and the reality of who Trey Lance

(21:24):
actually is now.

Speaker 8 (21:25):
I mean, some of the throws were really great designs.
To me, More than was great throws, right, It was
you know, rolling out and play actions and just different
things that allowed him to just kind of flip and
toss the ball. Yes, he had some good throws, you know,
And I love collins Worth. I certainly loved watching Brett
Musburger just to be able to kind of reminisce in
my mind about just Brent Musburger in three years. But

(21:46):
it was like it was almost over and done about
Trey Lance. To me last night, because this is a
guy that's your point third pick. Great, he's having a
nice Hall of Fame game. Let's get back to where
this guy really is going to be in a couple
of weeks. To me to watch the Hall of Fame game. Yes,
I'm looking for young guys to have their shot, you know,
the first year guys, you undrafted guys, you're really looking
at that. The other thing is the gym you're looking for,

(22:07):
which is why the Chargers dominated. Is they played a
much cleaner game, right, Doug. I mean no interceptions, They
had the fumble, but they didn't lose it. They only
had three penalties. I mean the Chargers fundamentally just played
a much cleaner game. And that to me is more
important than the Trey Lance having a nice out in
for a preseason game.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
I don't know if you heard this, but John Harbaugh
was absolutely effuse in his praise of Lamar Jackson, right,
And Lamar Jackson not just as a quarterback, but Lamar
Jackson as a as a passer. And like I get,
if you look at the raw numbers from last year,
you could agree you agree with, But then you look

(22:48):
at the playoff numbers, and you know, it's like eight
games seventeen hundred yards, which again like if you're going
to you know, go to a sixteen seventeen games, it's
far below his normal production or his normal efficiency in
the regular season. So I guess my question is where
does the truth lie with Lamar Jackson and how the
league use him as a passer.

Speaker 8 (23:11):
Yeah, I mean, I think Lamar has really done a
good job of growing into his best self. And I
think that the Ravens know who they are. They like
to take shots down the field. They like to push
the ball down the field with the tight ends, get
to the A Jones as a fast receivers, and now
they can run the ball or Lamar can run the ball.
And they just know how to build an offense and
they know what weapons they need in different spots to

(23:31):
be able to be that kind of an offense where
it doesn't have to be. It could be Lamar's legs,
it could be Dereck Henry's legs, it can be Lamar's arm,
it could be you know, vertical passes. I think about
Lamar that he can hit the deep ball, and that's
so critical because that kind of it would ruin everything
if it's he couldn't do that because defense would be like,
I'm just gonna take my chance and let's go get him.
And so I think Lamar is, you know, one of
the elite quarterbacks in the league. He's easily top ten.

(23:53):
He's a guy that I think maybe they rain him
down a little bit in the postseason because I think
when they especially this last year, you know, I think
they were hoping that Derek Henry would just kind of
roll through this thing, and in defenses, all you're trying
to do is kind of calm him down. But I
still think Lamar Jackson is an elite quarterback in the
Nation Football League, and I think he can win a
Super Bowl with him.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Is this the year.

Speaker 8 (24:17):
I really kind of think of this. I mean, I
really feel like this is the year Kansas City does
not go to the Super Bowl. I really feel like
it is between Buffalo and Baltimore. Those two teams, to me,
are a level apart from everybody else. I do think
this Chargers team is going to be better than people.
You know, I think people expect the Charges will be good,
but I think they're going to be a much improved
team again this year. But it feels like, if Derrick

(24:40):
Henry stays healthy, I can't. I would be very comfortable
saying that Baltimore Ravens could be Super Bowl champions.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Mark Dominic, Colin, Colin, his colin, his shots. Okay, we
were at Yeah, we were at Packers camp earlier this week,
and there's a lot of hope there and so far.
Matthew Golden is like, well, if you're gonna drive to
the wide receiver, that's a pretty good one to draft, right.
I look at that division, it's interesting. Lions have been
a top of it, but new coordinators, some new pieces,

(25:10):
there may be a step back. I don't know what
your thoughts are. Viking's third new quarterback in three years,
this one inexperienced, and the Bears should be better, but
again first time head coach, and we still haven't seen
it from Caleb Williams. I think it's a great opportunity
for the Packers, But I don't know where you are.
What are your thoughts on what's the right you know,

(25:31):
they start talking about Super Bowl or at least hosting
home playoff games. What's a reasonable outlook for that team?

Speaker 8 (25:39):
Yeah? I think that is. I think that can they
close the gap or can they up their game? I
guess is more, you know, to catch Detroit lines where
they are, and I say they can. You know, talk
about continuity. They're the team that have the most continuity,
and that's the biggest thing you can ask for, you know.
And you've got a bunch of players that know each other,
the offensive line that's intact. It's got some depth to
it too. Certainly, a wide receiver room is good. You know,

(26:01):
we talked about it before. The muskrat being back where
he wasn't an impact player just because of injuries last year.
Now you're going to have him with Tucker Kraft and
and I like Jordan Love and then I also love
you know, coach Aflee is the defensive coordator on the
other side, and him having another year of just the
same system, the same you know, desires of what we
want the players to do, and they're they're not learning
a new system, they're just getting better at that system.

(26:22):
So I really do like the Green Bag Packers. I
think that they can get to twelve. Thirteen is going
to be hard, just because I think the division in
the NFC and looking at the schedule, but I think
twelve can win that division as much as you know,
as good as Detroit was last year, I think it's
gonna be a lot more of that traditional black and
blue division where it's going to be a lot tougher.
But the Minnesota is the one I'm not And I
like JJ McCarthy. I hope he's everything I think he is.

(26:44):
But I feel like Minnesota is going to be hovering
right around five hundred this year, so I don't feel
like they're going to be quite the same push where
that's where I think the Packers will make up some ground.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
You know, I heard Baker was on a podcast and
Baker talked about how Tampa just lets him be him, right,
he doesn't have to be a quote unquote franchise quarterback
in terms of persona and how he dresses and how
he acts. Is that fair? Is that why Tampa has
been able to be a place that he's more successful.

Speaker 8 (27:11):
Yeah, And I think that, you know, it's Jason Light's
done a really good job of, you know, surrounding Baker
with some nice talent. You know, Bucky Irvin came in
there last year. He looked phenomenal in terms of his role.
For Shod White is a really good running back too,
so they got a one two punch there. When you've
got Godwin and Mike Evans, you're feeling pretty good about that.
And you know you've got a good tad drum. You know,
guys that maybe aren't household names but certainly are good players,

(27:34):
and you just break them down by tape and so
all those pieces come together and says, well, you know,
you surrounded them with stable pieces that are consistent players
that catch the ball, especially the running backs catch the
ball so well out of the backfield. All those are
part of like, well, yeah, I can understand that. But
you know, but when you talk to the players and
you talk to they see Baker as a leader, and

(27:55):
so he's doing it. It may not be to have
to be the robber guy, but he's certainly doing the
work to make them follow.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Mark. Awesome stuff. Once you have a great weekend. Next
week we got everybody playing preseason games, so it gets real.
Enjoy that weekend. We'll talk to you soon, Happy August.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
Thanks all right.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
That's Mark Dominic, who's spent over twenty years in NFL
front offices and scoutings. Former gentlem manager of the Tampay Buccaneers.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
What do you got there?

Speaker 4 (29:42):
I though, Okay, Doug, I'm gonna present the room and
idea and you all shout out what you've got DIBs on?

Speaker 7 (29:48):
It?

Speaker 4 (29:49):
All results in a game we call I got DIBs.
Starting with this preseason quarterback situation you are most intrigued
to watch play out. What does the room have DIBs on? There?

Speaker 1 (30:02):
I had Debs, Aaron Rodgers, Pitts, Prigs, Steelers.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Ah.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yes, I can't wait to continue to track everything he
does during joint practices, whether he plays some preseason games,
et cetera, at Cena.

Speaker 7 (30:17):
I got DIBs on the Browns. I got DIBs on
the Browns. Which of those four or five are gonna
get traded, which one's gonna get the job? Which one
is going to talk dirt about Shadu or Sanders?

Speaker 5 (30:28):
First?

Speaker 7 (30:29):
I want to know all the answers. And then Joe Flacco,
who's become a great quote. He's gonna say something interesting
along the way.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
I got DIBs on the guy backing up or at
least somewhere in the quarterback room with Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh,
Will Howard. He was a late round draft pick last
year championship quarterback for the Buckeyes. But obviously the Aaron
Rodgers rental is a short one, so they're going to
figure out do they have something in Will Howard. We'll

(30:58):
see him take some snapsfully this preseason.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
And by the way, Doug, just want to duck this
in here because you know you are a admitted avowed
huge Charger fan. NFL Media just reported that present free
agent Keenan Allen is visiting the Chargers today and there
is mutual interest in a potential reunion. Again, that's just
reported by NFL Media. Now onto our next item. With

(31:23):
last night having been the Hall of Fame game, I
want you guys to call Dibbs on the best hall
of Fames to visit with the proviso that you don't
necessarily need to have visited said hall of fame to answer.
I feel like I know the Baseball Hall of Fame,
the Pro Football Hall of Fame just by you know,

(31:44):
being a sports fan over the years. And this could
even lead to, you know, college football Hall of Fame,
et cetera. So what hall of fame do you have
DIBs on? Maybe the one that you'd like to visit
the most.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
I got DIBs on the college Football Hall of Fame
in Atlanta, Georgia. Okay, I think because I think my
favorite sport is college football. I've never been to a
single Hall of Fame museum, but if I had to
pick one to go to first, it would be that
one in Atlanta.

Speaker 7 (32:12):
Do you think our very own with our erringtern could
get you free admission? You think that's your hookup? Is
that why you want to go?

Speaker 5 (32:19):
So he could. The ticket would go from like twelve
dollars to zero, I could say twelve to fifteen bucks. Huh,
he could probably do it, maybe some I.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Got DIBs on Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame. Part
of it is full disclosure. I've been to the basketball
Hall of Fame in Springfield. But the bigger part of
it is that hall of Fame seems to mean more.
It's like the SEC right, this one means more. That
one seems to mean more.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Interesting.

Speaker 7 (32:49):
I got DIBs on the on the Hockey Hall of fame.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Oh you got me. I was gonna where is that Toronto?

Speaker 5 (32:55):
Of course it's Toronto, knows I thought it would be
in medicine hat everyone knows that.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Or this moose knuckle moose jaw. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:03):
I just want to see I want to see the
plaque of that one white Canadian that was a good
skater and tricky with the puck.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Let's set the tone in here now, you mean Gila Floor.
How did you know Maurice the Rocket Richard? All right,
by the way, Doug, random question for the group. Have
anybody ever been to a place in San Diego called
the Hall of Champions? By any chance in Balboa Park?
Probably not? Okay, never mind, that's that's a nice kind
of niche.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
I have been to Balboa Park, which is beautiful, yes,
but I.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Don't think the Hall of Champion exists anymore. But it
was like a San Diego centric hall of fame.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
By the way, hold on, now, hold on, hold on.
Going outside of sports, I've never been to Cleveland. I
think I've driven around it. But if I went to
Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I gotta check out.
If I go to Cleveland. Okay, all right, back to you, Isaac.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Jason, and Doug Have you been to the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame?

Speaker 2 (34:01):
By not?

Speaker 4 (34:03):
I went to the Grammy Hall of Fame in Downtown LA.
And I went to the Grammy Hall of Favorite Downtown LA.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
That was about it.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
All right, you know we should do yeah?

Speaker 1 (34:12):
I mean, honestly, is we should? We should sometime play
a game of in the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame or not in the.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
Okay, right, all right, let's do it. Yeah, that's a
good that's a good idea. I don't think I would
do very well, frankly, but I would be glad to
serve as the moderator. This is building on some news
that also just came down. But Washington, DC City Council
approved that three point eight billion dollar project to build
a new sixty five thousand seat stadium for the Commanders

(34:42):
on the side of old RFK Stadium. Who you guys
got DIBs on best new NFL stadium that is built
in the last ten years? And also, okay, you're a
fan of so Fight or an upcoming nfls stadium that
does get DIBs on? All right, I just want to

(35:03):
throw out there the ones coming up, the new Buffalo
Bills Stadium, the new Titan Stadium, the new Commanders Stadium,
and ones besides so far that have opened in the
last ten years. The Vikings Stadium, the Falcon Stadium, and
the Raiders Stadium in Vegas. How about the rest of
you all, I've.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Been to all of those. I'll give you my ranking
of them, but I'm taking so far. So far is awesome.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
I'm going to take DIBs on the Minnesota Stadium.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
That's the second best.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Bank It's a bank, US banks. They're all banks.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Now.

Speaker 5 (35:30):
I can't keep up what the the names are.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
But well, actually Atlanta's Mercedes Benz.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
I know, go to a bank before you go to
that stadium.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
Yeah. Can I say one thing. I went to my
first ever NFL game a couple of years ago. It
was Chargers hosting the Bills. SOFI is amazing. But they
do need an app to help you find your seats
and they could call it so find your Seats. Okay,
this is please give me credit for this.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
So far, I sprint to the copyright office go during
a commercial break for that baby.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
You can't look you can't look at the.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
I had to ask five people. It's so hard to
find your seat, so you have to ask people. You
have to go down elevators, escalators.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
So there's a lot of elevators questions.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
Have your ticket on your phone and you open up
the so Find your Seats app and it guides you
like you're doing Google Maps to your seat. They need this,
now do it now?

Speaker 2 (36:20):
All right?

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Get make Kevin dem Off on the phone.

Speaker 7 (36:23):
So find so find them all right? Jase, Yeah, I'm
not a big fan. I think that idea in the
last ninety seconds of air time. I think now Sam
needs to sew FI the want ads for a new job. Jeez,
so fine, the want ad?

Speaker 4 (36:40):
How about that?

Speaker 5 (36:41):
How about that? I think it's a good idea. I
think it would help you. I think it's a good idea.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Actually, he just became a multi millionaire with his new
so fine app. Yes, give me to be one of
those tech billionaires. You're gonna forget that he knows this
when he's holding a party in his mansion.

Speaker 7 (36:57):
I'm an idea guy. I don't know the nuts and bolts,
though I got DIBs on Allegiant. I think I've stayed
at Mandalay at least six times over the last couple
of years. I like the accessibility. You go to Mandalay,
you walked over. Yeah, it seems like a clean place.
It's new.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
And finally, uh, how about this sports commissioners right now
little power rankings? Who you got DIBs on? And I
suppose this can extend even to commissioners of like the
big college conferences. Who you got DIBs on?

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Okay, I got DIBs on NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, only
for how Joe Biden once introduced him.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
Thank Commissioner Gary Batman.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Gary Batman.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
Wow, I didn't know about his alter ego.

Speaker 5 (37:42):
Yeah, I got Gary Batman.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Commissioner Gary Batman. I'd like to thank him for saving Gotham,
by the way, good for him.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Gary Batman.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Gary Bettman, really amazing.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
Really he has all those like repelling things. It's really impressive.
But he's gotten the Gary Bettman belt.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Commissioner Man.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
Can he do all that? On ice though? I'm gonna
I guess his least favorite team is the Penguins. All right,
that's the last.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Obviously Goodell is the biggest name, but I'm gonna go
with Brett.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Your mark, Yeah, good one on your mark.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
Get Set, Go.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
No, he's just trying stuff. He's just trying stuff. He's
not doing the conventional stuff like I try stuff.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (38:21):
I like? I like how he how he rolls.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
And that's this edition of game Time. This is game
Time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
It's Stug Got Leave Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
