(00:24):
you're taking a break from the cesspool that is social
media and listen to real media where we talk about
real stuff, you know, like yesterday what your favorite blizzard is.
It's important we get to the bottom of these things.
No wrong answers, unless you have a problem with Oreo
cookie or or or Reese's peanut butter cup. Then we

(00:47):
got we're gonna squab over at Scuagernooe. You know, we
were at Packer camp the other day and everybody's raving
about Matt Golden, there wide receiver that they draft in
the first round, first one they drafted since two thousand
and two in the first round, and you know you
almost start to go like, yeah, there's kind of a

(01:08):
little bit more pressure on him to be good right away.
Because heck, if we're gonna if you if you're finally
going to use a first round pick on a wide receiver,
he'd better be a good one, because there's been a
plenty of other ones that you're like, hey, could have
taken in, may have been good and you didn't. Well,
Chicago Bears have used first round picks before on quarterbacks,
but because they haven't really had in our lifetime a

(01:28):
franchise quarterback, you're like that guy's stud. It stands the
reason that Cata Williams going number one overall, there'd be
a lot more attention and maybe a lot more expectations
of him. Then you factor in some of his quirkiness
when he was more at usc than at Oklahoma. Uh,

(01:49):
and the story coming out that he preferred to be
a Viking not a Bear, and you start to think, well, yeah,
it's kind of the same thing. They've drafted quarterbacks. But
if you're gonna take one number one overall, hed better
be able to play. Better, be able to play and

(02:10):
still very much up for discussion. How good is he? Uh?
This is Caleb Williams when he was asked about outside
noise and how much pressure he feels going in two
year two.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Pressure isn't uh. Pressure is not a thing for me.
I don't, you know, think of life that way in
the situation that I'm in and so, uh, you know,
we keep chugging along and you know there's gonna be
ups and downs, and it's not you know, it's not
my job to care about what the outside, you know,
noises and things like that. My job is take care
of everything in here and go out there and play,
you know, And I didn't you know, I uh, I

(02:44):
know we didn't win as many you know games as
we wanted to last year, but you know I didn't. Uh,
I didn't go twenty and twenty in interceptions and things
like that. So you know, take it for what you want.
But you know, pressure is uh prefer pressure is a
prev But you know, in the situation that I'm at,
I don't think I have pressure.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I'm gonna disagree there. I don't think anybody you have.
Ben Johnson's your head coach. And I mean he turned
what everyone thought was just a very average quarterback into
a franchise quarterback and a potential Super Bowl champion quarterback.

(03:24):
Granted he'd been in a super Bowl before. In Jared
goff but into a guy who you know. Was that
The Rams thought they upgraded when they got Matt Stafford.
I think they did, but it doesn't appear to be
that much of an upgrade. Golf's been healthier and probably
been more consistent. Obviously Stafford won them a super Bowl,

(03:50):
but golf's been healthier and more consistent. And Ben Johnson
gets a lot and deserves a lot of that credit.
Now he's got Kata Williams. It's his first team. You
have a coach who is an offensive guru who didn't
draft you. There should be pressure there. I think there
is pressure there, and part of the idea of playing

(04:13):
guys early and playing guys in the rookie year is
that you see some of the evolution come much more
quickly than before. It wasn't like he had a bang
up first year. If it doesn't start great in his
second year, there'll be questions. Do I think there's, hey,
we need to draft another quarterback next year. No, But
I also don't think there have been enough moments that

(04:35):
we go when we get our guy, this is our
guy for twenty years, for twenty years. So that's where
the pressure level is. It could go really bad. It
could go really well. It probably lands in the middle,
and we probably start talking about real pressure next year.

(04:57):
But I don't think it's crazy to talk talk about
there being some amount of pressure.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
On.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I was going to say Trey Lance on Caleb Williams
this year, and there's some similarities there with with what's
happening with the Packers. Packers have visions of grandeur of
getting to a Super Bowl. Vikings have essentially a rookie
starting at quarterback. All right, the Lions, you know, offensive

(05:27):
coordinator is now the head coach of the Bears, and
they lost some personnel as well. There's reasonablieve that the Bears,
who turned over their offensive line change some things look
competitive at the end of the year, that this should
be a year to take a big step. If he's
not able to take a big step with them, they'll
be questions. I don't think it's hey, we need to
get out of Kayleb Williams business, but not yet. Remember

(05:49):
this is a coach who did not draft the quarterback,
did not draft the quarterback, and when he was taking
number one overall, not only are the questions about where
he wanted to be draft, but there were questions about
how he handled the losing when he was at USC
which is fair because he didn't handle it well. II Though,
how much pressure do you think is is Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Center depends on his habits of being on social media.
I just think there's like this weird vortex with being
a Chicago Bears quarterback. And something you said really stuck
with me that they really have not had a premier
quarterback literally in our lifetimes. I mean, the closest you

(06:35):
could say is obviously Jim McMahon because they won a
Super Bowl with him, although the defense was the strength
of the team and Jim Harbaugh had a good run there.
But aside from that, I mean, who are the top
Who's the top Who's the top quarterback in the literal
history of the Chicago Bears. One doesn't leap to mind

(06:56):
you think of running backs of Walter Baton and Gail Sayers,
But there seems to be some like vortex when it
comes to the Chicago Bear.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
The guys who have had set, the guys who I
don't know where just came out.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Nowhere else just guess I would guess they've all had
that at some point.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
The guys who have had success being in Chicago, like
any amount of success. We'd be talking about Cutler a
little bit and Rex Grossman and Rex Grossman. I remember,
he could have amazing games and they could have games
where he absolutely imploded, like if their offense was humming,
he was throwing a bunch of touchdowns, but when it
started to go bad, it was just an implosion. And
then Cutler. I don't really know even what to make

(07:37):
of the cut.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Like everybody hated Jay Cutler. Don't mention it. No, I'm
just saying, but Rex Grossman and Rex Grossman. No, I'm
telling you in Chicago, like in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
I'm just talking about success though, not how he's perceived. Okay,
I don't I don't know he made it.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Remember Rex Grossman took him to a Super Bowl and
the week of the Super Bowl, Lovey Smith is their
head coach of the I had to come out and
say Rex Schrosman is our quarterback. That that actually happened.
People are like, man, you gotta pull Rex Grossman like
he stinks, Like, hey, Rex Grossman's our quarterback. So that

(08:14):
that's how good Rex Grossman is. You know Caid mc
mc McCown, Remember Kaid McCown. He was the first round
pick out of UCLA lefty. I mean you go back
through that, you're like, oh my, I totally forgot that
was the Bears quarterback that year.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Didn't he come in for Jake Cutler when he was
injured in the NFC Championship game versus the Packers. I
feel like that that might have happened, could be wrong.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
And then I also you think about Mitch Trubisky, who
was what second overall? He was taking guy and and
he of a lot of people, he made it the playoffs.
A lot of people feel like it could have worked
with who is his coach, mister Weiser. A lot of
people think that maybe it could have worked out if
he stuck around or if those two kept working together.
But he was shipped out of town. But that's the

(09:02):
highest pick that they've taken. They probably didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
He's talking about Matt and Eggy.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Yeah, Matt Naggie, Yeah, yeah, they made it to playoffs
and uh, and then it just sort of the wheels
fell off. But a lot of people are like, well,
I don't know if uh, mich Trubisky had enough time
in Chicago to really prove or disprove his pick.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
That was the double Joint game. If I'm not mistaken, right,
they're one trip to the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah yeah, yep, yep, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I was gonna say, I think that Caleb Williams with
the change in coaching he's got Ben Johnson, if it
was the same coach two or three years in a row,
I feel like that pressure is going to bear down
on you. But when you have a new coach, you
have like you're allowed a little bit of grace to
kind of adjust to that. And if Ben Johnson really
does know what he's doing and talking about, then you

(09:48):
probably don't feel a ton of pressure like this is
going to work out because Ben Johnson is, you know,
is gonna save us. So I think Caleb's probably you know,
I've got a new coach. I can there can be
a little slippache, but I'm learning, yep.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
So do we think he's I do I think anybody's
under pressure, because we expect anybody to be. We're in
a microwave society. But I also think you have a
coach who people think is his quarterback guru, and if
you don't see distinct improvement, then there's going to be
a lot of whispers of this might not be the guy.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
The big thing with Kayta Williams is the ability to
throw the ball downfield and throw it accurately, not throw
what's called hospital balls. You know what hospital ball is?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Right, I've never heard that term before until today. Oh
really no?

Speaker 6 (10:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Do tell uh Sam, do you know what a hospital
ball is?

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Sounds like something that will be uncomfortable, but all right,
I do not.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I think DeVante Adams referred to the hospital balls that
Garoppolo used to throw it them all the time.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Oh is it when you throw your receivers so they
get smashed by a linebacker?

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah? They foy it floats ongnya float site doesn't have
that doesn't have the perfect amount of zip and it
allows guys to just tee off on you. Hospitaball.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
They get a little running start yep, and they.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Starts, they start, they start salivating, They start salivating. It's

on Fox Sports Radio. I got a question for you guys. Okay,
a little off script question, but it's a good one.
I think, Hey, I think have you guys seen these
numbers where Las Vegas is down eleven percent in tourism

(12:21):
revenue year to year? And what you'll get is you'll
get you're getting people that will say, well, this is
because of the economic policies of the current administration. Then
you have others. I saw this woman who's a she's
on Fox News. Uh, it's because of the dying boomer phenomenon.

(12:41):
Flashy loud tackie, crowded and inauthentic. Younger generations don't want
it that they don't want the Vegas thing. Then you
have other people that will say, well, it's because you
can gamble from your home right, which, by the way,
Vegas is known it's coming. That's why they've made it
into kind of a travel destination. They have They've always

(13:02):
had shows, sphere has incredible concert right, resorts, golf, et cetera,
et cetera, and look, there's always there's always gonna be
people like, yeah, only Vegas, only Vegas. I just don't.
I just don't buy that. Year to year, all of
a sudden people woke up and goes, you know what,

(13:23):
I don't like Vegas. I'm not going this year. Eleven
percent is big. That's a big drop.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
This is unscientific, but it's also not something to dismiss.
Judging by my Facebook timeline with all my friends, which
is different than the people I follow on Twitter and Instagram,
Vegas to me seems to be as popular as ever
because I can't go a few days without somebody on

(13:49):
Facebook posting pictures of their excursion to Vegas. I think
the sphere is a great point, right, now you cannot
find a place like the sphere anywhere else in America.
And my other comment about this is, Okay, if Vegas
is out, what's the new Vegas? Where are people going now?

(14:12):
Is it Nashville? Is it Austin? Is it et cetera,
et cetera.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
We Well, part of it is also I think the
the guess is that most of the numbers being down
as the international tourism, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
So they might be going to other places like I
don't know, Singapore, Hong Kong, you know, places in Europe,
et cetera.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
I would say another thing I've heard, I've only been
actually just took my first trip to Las Vegas in
late June. I'd never been to Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Iowa Sam effect. Maybe it's that no offense.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
I think I've heard from people that Vegas is just
more expensive than it's ever been. Like you, you don't
get as many free rooms, comped rooms, comped meals. You know,
back are they say, when the mobsters ran in, you
had a lot more stuff that was for free.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Absolutely, And it's.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
More expensive now. And I think every thing you every
reason you listed, Doug is true. I think that maybe
new generations aren't as interested in it. I think that
what were the other it was also some of the
other reasons.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I mean, look, you know, I think all of that
can I think both of these things can be true.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
And gambling in your own state, you can gamble like
on your phone, you can gamble in a casino.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Right, But there's a certain something about Vegas when you
go there that it becomes okay because it's Vegas. I
still think Vegas has an allure to it. I do.
I don't think all of that stuff could be true.
You don't drop double digits and percentage of tourism unless

(15:45):
there's some major economic factor at play. What we're talking
about is like a drip drip, drip, drip drip. You know,
a percent here, percent there starts to go down. More
people find different things to do, different place to gamble,
it becomes cheesy whatever. That's undeniable if that does, in
fact happen. I think that part of it is. I

(16:09):
actually think Vegas is mar Spencer because it's nicer. There's
like smoke free casinos, there's other things. I'm a big
I'm actually a Vegas guy. I turned down a Vegas
trip this weekend, which I was excited about because my
daughter Grace is in town. So we're going to Dor
County this weekend, which is like, yeah, it's nice.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
You got some white sand beaches up there.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
I don't think they have white sand beaches.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
They have white there are white sand beaches.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Work County.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Well, yes, because I did a sea kayaking trip on
Lake Superior around the Apostle Islands and there were these
beautiful white sand beaches.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
And Dork County in Lake Michigan at Lakes Spirit.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Well, I've seen pictures of Dan and I have shared
a picture of like these beaches in Door County that
are look like they're in the Caribbean.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah, well, I mean we're headed there, so.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Jamaica. It's the county of the South.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
I think it's I just again, I think it's interesting.
I think it's interesting because Vegas has Vegas is like
a real sports city. Now, NFL team gonna have a
major League baseball team, eventually they do have a hockey team.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Wait a minute, I thought the A's were moving there.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
They are.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
I said eventually, no, but you said a major league team. No,
I'm just kidding. It was an anti age.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
See what you did there. There's also tell me if
you think this part is weird. I talked about this
yesterday where where Lebron, you know, he had that meeting
and his Maverick Carter is starting this league, you know,
International League. That the NBA is talking about some sort

(17:48):
of connections with some of the FOBA teams. I do
wonder if they're gonna press pause on expanding to Vegas.
I don't know. I need to talk Major League Baseball
JP Morosi. We'll do that in a second, because yesterday
was a trade deadline. Twins basically get rid of half
their roster, some other interesting selloffs, and we'll talk Jay

(18:10):
stew Off the Ledge in terms of what the Dodgers
did yesterday. Thanks for listening to The Doug Gotleep Show podcast.

Fox Sports Radio. JP Morose jump on ROSSI joins us
Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider of course, he's an MLB
network reporter. He joins us on the Doug Gotlip Show
on Fox Sports Radio. I believe this is the first
time in probably ten years, maybe more, we've ever mentioned
the name Minnesota Twins on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
Right, what what I think?

Speaker 2 (18:56):
So?

Speaker 1 (18:57):
What is the reaction in baseball? Though? To what they
did yesterday on the trade deadline?

Speaker 5 (19:06):
They made just about everyone available, with the possible exception
of the adorable mascot TC Bear, which is certainly an
iconic part of the organization. Doug, so, TC Bear is
in place. Joe Ryan didn't move, nor did Byron Buxton,
but just about everyone else who's on the active roster did.
And it was almost as though within a day they

(19:31):
did something comparable to what the Marlins did years ago.
Recall when they built up quickly and then all of
a sudden a year later they did the opposite. It
felt a little bit like that, and except for what
happened in one day in the middle of the season.
Really important context here, Doug is the team is up
for sale, and when teams are up for sale, doesn't

(19:53):
matter what support it is. They don't operate in a
normal headspace and a normal financial practice because they're going
through a transition of ownership, and by the way, they
don't even know who the incoming owner is going to
be yet, so there's a lot of a lot of uncertainty.
And it seems to me that there was a very

(20:14):
clear mandate to bring the payroll down, which they did,
get younger, which they did, and obviously try to have
a better team years down the road than what they
have right now, all of which they have achieved. And
I think when you look at everything through the lens
of when the team's up for sale, that's when things

(20:34):
can get fairly extreme, and yesterday was a very extreme day,
and it honestly could have gotten even more extreme if
they had moved Joe Ryan. I was sold in the
last hour before the deadline that the Red Sox have
made an effort to acquire Joe Ryan as one of
the top young right anders in the game, and they
were not able to come to come to an agreement.
But the Red Sox tried. The Twins were listening on

(20:56):
everybody at every position. They had three This was really
the deadline to move relievers and and just off the
top of my head, they moved four of their guys.
It was a staggering amount of activity for Derek Falvey
in his front office.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Okay, so who you know. I was looking at at
at what the Brewers did, right they go and get
Danny Janssen and Shelby Miller. Felt like the Brewers were
the ones that they had a really good focus. But
if you were to say this team, who's a playoff team,
improved themselves the most, what would what would that team be?

Speaker 5 (21:35):
The San Diego Padres. That's the straightforward answer, and I
think that it's the correct one in terms of what
they did. Their bullpen is now one of the very
best we've seen anywhere, and and the the additions they
made to their lineup are really important too. Freddy Ferman
behind the plate. Again, he's not maybe a household name
for our listeners right now, but really good defensive catcher

(21:56):
who has shown some offensive upside. Was never going to
be the guy in Kansas City because of Salvador Perez
being there as a future Hall of Famer, But I
think for mean really helps the Padres. Ryan O'Hearn's going
to help the Padres. Ramon Loreano's gonna help the Padres.
In addition to what they did on the pitching side
of things, with the addition of Mason Miller and JP
Series and very importantly Doug not trading the likes of

(22:20):
Dylan Season Robert Swada. So the Padres, for me, excuse me,
the Podres, I think they really upgrade themselves. And I
think on the American League side of things, the Seattle Mariners,
they're the one team in the American League that have
never appeared in a World Series. They're clearly intent on
changing that. I thought the addition of both aohanneo Suadas

(22:44):
a couple of days ago, and of course Josh Naylor
last week was really impressive. So who knows. You could
see a very unexpected World Series matchup between the Mariners
and Padres, which I know would not exactly be the
first choice of Jason Stewart.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Dog Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, what about
the Dodgers. What'd you think of their additions to the bullpen?

Speaker 5 (23:06):
They did okay, This was not a disastrous deadline for
the Dodgers. They did okay, But they really seem to
be doubling down on their current players being healthy and
effective this season, which, as anyone who has been in Solona, California, knows.
Has not really been the case for a lot of

(23:27):
this year. They have had some inconsistencies, They've had a
lot of injuries. They're really banking on Otani being able
to start for them in the playoffs. They're banking on
Blake Snell being healthy. I just don't know if that's
the right expectation right now. To be honest with you,
I look at the mechanics of the National League West,

(23:48):
and I believe even with a three game head start,
I like what the Padres have right now a bit
more than the Dodgers. I like what the I like
what the and elsewhere in the National I like what
the Phillies did at the deadline. I like what the
Mets did at the deadline. There were I think, more
effective deadlines than what the what the Dodgers did. And

(24:09):
while listen, there's still otherf Aenny World Zo champions. They
still have Otani and Freeman and Smith and Bets and Taoscar.
They still have a really good team. But are they
the best team in the National League right now? I
think the answer to that question right now is no, Wow?

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Wow? Is that the Brewers? Is that the best team they.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Are right now? I think they are the best team
at the moment. But I look at it as a
really wide open NL. I know a lot of people
if at all the American League is wide open, the
National League is wide open because I don't see a
single dominant team. I will tell you right now, it's
the Brewers right now the best team in the National League.

(24:51):
But I like what the Cubs have done overall. They
had a bit of a quiet deadline, but I think
in general they're a very well balanced team. And again
the Phillies bringing in Yan Duran, they addressed what was
a made the weakness for them. The Mets added multiple
leverage relievers. I look at this as being a wide
open National League in which the Dodgers really did not

(25:13):
distinguish themselves at the deadline, and so I think that
there's a better, a much better than fifty to fifty chance.
Does that the World Series representative from the National League
is not going to be the Dodgers. I think they're
maybe they have a twenty percent chance of making it
to the World Series something like that, but it is
not much more than that. Wow wow, Because I'm like

(25:38):
I see them right now, Doug, They're a really good team.
They're a really good team, but they are one of
many good teams in the National League. Last year they
were at times a dominant team. They are not a
dominant team. They're a good team, they're a really good team,
but they are not a dominant team. And to be
honest with you, it's the same story in the American League.

(25:59):
This is a wide open sport right now. And that's
why we have had many conversations, Doug over the years
about baseball where we're at as a state of the game.
I seem to recall that multiple times in the last year. Yes,
you and I talked to during the Dodgers Yankees World
Series and that was great and it was a Dodgers

(26:20):
Yankees la New York. How cool is this? There's not
been a repeat champion in this sport in a quarter century.
There was much more competitive balance in this sport right
now than then. A lot of the detractors who say, oh,
it's a big market sport, you sure about that, Look
a look at the Brewers, the Tigers, the Reds are

(26:41):
are trying to build up. There's just a lot of
teams that are not major market teams that could be
playing in the World Series. This season.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Oh, I mean, listen, I generally agree with you, but
I do think you guys are just hopping off the
Dodger bandwagon really quickly, and they were rolling. Now they've
suffered some injuries since they're rolling, but it's it's it
can be fascinating to see what happens.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
They're good, but they're but they're not a juggernaut. That's
that's the the delineation I have. I actually don't see
a single dominant team. If you were looking at this
and you wanted to have fun ticking a team that's
got the fifteenth best record in baseball right now or
fourteenth best record, to have that team win the World Series.
It's a good year to make that pick because this,

(27:27):
this whole sport right now is wide open.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's John
paulm Rossi is our guest. Okay, what about the Yankees.
How do you how do you see them heading the
stretch run?

Speaker 5 (27:42):
I like what they did. I thought they were one
of the other winners of the day yesterday and the
deadline in general. I would really like to see them
get one more starting pitcher. I was a little surprised
that they did not come away with a Zach Gallon
or a Sandy al Contra from the Marlins or Daniel
Cabrera from the marl r ed Workerberra I should say so.
I thought one of those options would have been in

(28:05):
ten stripes is based on the way that that day
was unfolding. But they've added multiple closers Doug, they added
David Bednar from the Pirates, they added Camilo Dovall from
the Giants. They've made some offensive upgrades. They added Hoste
Cava Gedo, who was a really good defender, and when
you think about the defensive struggles right now of Anthony Vulpi,

(28:27):
getting a shortstop like Caveyto I think is a very
very good option for them. That they added some righty
bats in both Rosario and Slater earlier on. I just
I think the Yankees have done a really good job
of incrementally upgrading their team. And again I've got some
concerns about their rotation, but they are right now the

(28:50):
best challenger to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American
League East. I think that the Red Sox good, but
they really missed out on not doing enough of the
deadlines where I right now. I put the Yankees ahead
of the Red Sox and the Jays narrowly. Still the
best team in the American League East, but again, it
is a wide open Al East within a wide open

(29:10):
American League.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Should be really exciting. Come down the stretch front. Hey, JP,
you're the best. You have such great energy and knowledge.
Thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate you
being our guest on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Thank you, Doug. I always enjoyed this time of year,
Mr Fair. We even had the Lions play last night.
I didn't really love the way they played. I was
kind of keeping an eye on that after the trade
headline was over. But it's early. I trust in Dan Campbell.
They're going to be in the super Bowl this year.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Okay, I don't know about the super Bowl, but I
know you do trust them, and they they've been. They've been,
They've been great. Hey, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
I'm an optimist. Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
How are you doing there? Jay Stu? You okay? Like
he actually feels like it feels like you guys are
lockstep in your feelings about the Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
I could not agree with him more his assessment was perfect.
There's something wrong with this current group. I don't care
how much it costs. I don't care how much talent
is there. I don't care how many injuries we've had.
There's something wrong with the current group. So do make
no moves of the deadline. Is telling your fan base
that you have faith in the current guys, But what
have they done to prove that correct? So yeah, they're

(30:16):
they're inactivity at the trade deadline is made even worse
by how the how much better the Podreys got. I mean,
it's incredible what they were able to do. They added
the best closer in baseball to a bullpen that's already
lights out. So yeah, if I'm a Dodger fan, and
I am, I am worried that we didn't do anything

(30:37):
at the trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Hmm. You know, it's really interesting. It's just gonna be interesting,
you know, how teams deal, how teams players, everything deals
with success. Because I think you and I talked about
this last year where it felt like last year was
not the year that you thought the Rodgers would definitely win,

(31:02):
like they were the plan was, you know, like like
you and I point out two years ago, I remember
we're doing shows. I'm like, yeah, it feels like they're
saving up for Otani. Then you get Otani, You're like, yeah,
well you're saving up for when Otani's back pitching, and
next year is really the year. But they win it
last year and you're like, okay, well, and they were
playing great for a good portion of time without being
crazy healthy, and then the bottom sort of falls out.

(31:25):
I was doing I did little Oklahoma City Radio last
week or whenever when I was back there, and I
and I was on my friend Mark Rodgers, and I
was like, you know, and I didn't use the Dodgers
an example, but they could be easy the example with
the Thunder. The Thunder won it this year, it's probably
a year early. Everything tells you they should be better

(31:45):
and they should have a great chance to win it again.
But that's not how sports work, because sports are played
by human beings, and sometimes human beings win a championship
before they're emotionally ready to do so, and it hurts
your cohesion. Part two, It is we we we absolutely

(32:05):
positively have to have to have to have to stop saying,
let's come be being in a dynasty. Just wait till
there's a dynasty it organically happens, and then comment on
the dynasty. That should be a rule.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
And then while you're at it, don't devote lazy segments
to are the Dodgers ruining baseball? This is a perfect
example of how they're not ruining baseball.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
We didn't right, Like I know, you're not being critical
of us.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
We made fun of people that did right in December.

(33:47):
the press, the press. What do you have there?

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Isaac crunk Well, Doug Big story of the day, of course.
Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons announcing on social media he
no longer wants to play for the Cowboys and has
requested a trade. He explained his reasoning in a lengthy
post on social media, and some of parsons present Cowboys
teammates are reacting on social media. Cowboys receiver C. D.

(34:24):
Lamb commenting, quote never fails, dog, Just pay the man
what you owe him, no need for the extra curricular unquote. Meanwhile,
Cowboys linebacker Demarvion Overshown and safety one E Thomas both
changed their profile pictures to pictures of Parsons.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Pay.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
That's me and his money. Bad, that's meant his money.
He's man. Pay that's me and his money again. Nothing good? Like,
I understand that's your guy. You're not privy to any
of these negotiations. You have no idea. I do I
think that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones need to say anything. No, no,

(35:10):
they ne need to say anything anything. Hey, we want
to have Michael Parsons here forever. We're currently negotiating his contract.
He's awesome. That's it. There's zero win in going the
well he was hurt or you know, we've done this
before or compared to the other contract, Like, what is
the win in that? Don't say nothing. It's just this
is like Goodfellas. Don't say nothing to nobody about nothing.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Michael Parson, by the way, was goodfella Goodfellas the movie
where they had the scene where they were slicing the
garlic paint of thin in prison.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
Oh man, you got they had a lot of access
to nice quality of food there in prison, and like
fresh lobster on ice.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Yeah, the meats in the and apparently access to sharp
objects as well, by the way, how have I not
noticed the name de Maarvion Overshown. That might be the
best name in sports. That that's that is a great,
great name.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
That's an unbelievable name.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
I mean, I've never found the last name Overshown. And
then it's not like they named him Steve or Dwight
or Buddy. They named him Demarvion. So you have a
great first name and a great last name as well.
The Washington DC City Council today has approved a three
point eight billion dollar project to build a new sixty

(36:32):
five thousand seat stadium for the Commanders on the side
of old RFK Stadium. It's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Awesome, right, So they can tear down an RFK, they
can build a new staium. Their great location, very scenic,
but and it's in the city, but that also comes
with its own trappings and pitfalls and whatever.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Traffic, for example, now considered the worst in the United States,
has overtaken Los Angeles Washington. I'm sorry, I've seen the
traffic there before, but I have to live there for
a year and now get a taste of it.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, yeah, spend the next spend six hours of your
life on the four oh five at eleven o'clock at night,
and then talk to me about d C, where they
can just take the metro.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Well, you spend six hours nine in the four oh five, Isaac.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
They do have better public transit in d C.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
At eleven o'clock at night, there's no traffic. Unlist there's
an accident.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
I've been stuck in traffic. Without an accident on the
four h five at three o'clock in the morning.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
You might end up spending four hundred and.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Was there was there a road closure at the time
without fixing something.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
That's just how it is. I have issues with the
four or five and the five.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
I have issues with the four or five. I drove
it every day for seven years and it was the
best part about coming nobody.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
And it drove you to Wisconsin. It did you get
on it?

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I'm gonna I'm gonna say I like it, but I'm
saying like, let's not overdo it. Well speaking, I actually
think LA freeways are way better than Chicago and DC
because those are all older roads, so they don't have
as many options. You know, they also don't have the
carpool ainge that you can use.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
Well, turning into a sketch of the Californians right now.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Take the l back in Chicago. By the way. Finally,
speaking of terrorifying things, remember Danilo Gallinari. His wife is
thankfully okay after being attacked by a shark in Puerto
Rico while pregnant. The shark bit her on her thigh.

(38:38):
She had a surgery on the leg, but she is fine.
Can you imagine that you're pregnant and you get bitten
by a shark? But again, thankfully she's okay.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Any shark bites like easily. Anyone's like top two or
three biggest fears.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
Yep, yeah, it's murky down there. I can't see what's.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Well that one. Spiders are also right there. I have
twin daughters. One is definitely afraid of spider's Otherend's like,
I don't care, but I'd say most.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
People, yeah, compared like maybe you're racnophobia, but like spiders
compared to a shark attack is like.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Yes, people fear like spider's laying eggs in their ears
or a spider bite.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
No.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
On that note, have a great weekend. Football's fully back
