Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres in
the Bonus with Doug gottlie.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What up Doug Gottlieb Show in the Bonus Fox Sports Radio?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Do Do Do Do?
Speaker 4 (00:17):
Do?
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Do Do do? Dude?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Man, I got a ton of things to discuss. We
talked a lot on the radio show. Welcome into the podcast.
You know, I was watching the uh what was it
called farmer Geddon? Is that what it is?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Right?
Speaker 2 (00:38):
K State Iowa State in Ireland? And then after the game,
K State's quarterback KSE States quarterbacks dad and his brother
got into a fight outside of the game, and I look,
I don't know anything about the situation.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
I don't God, I feel bad for the kid, and.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
I don't know if he's a great guy or he
you know, his numbers were really good. I thought he
was okay in terms of his actual did he help
them win? But bigger part is like can you imagine now?
Can you imagine now? And I'm not saying these things
didn't happen. My dad and one of my assistant coaches
(01:22):
another day and they squared off after a game and
it was over like nothing. It was just more he
didn't understand we had just beaten Saint John's in the Garden,
or yeah, just beat Saint John's the Garden, our first
ever Biggies win.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
And I made a couple of.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Mistakes down the stretch and got pulled, and uh, he
was just trying to coach me because he'd always coached me.
And it was time to go. And by the way,
we'd won the game, it's time to feel good about
winning the game. And they actually went nose to nose
and nothing happened. Had that gotten out and been on
(01:59):
a cell phone and been on been viral? Unbelievably embarrassing, infuriating.
That's my brother and my dad Like, yeah, I don't
and I'm sure the kid will play great, cause that
doesn't just happen overnight. That's not a great relationship. Awesome people,
(02:20):
And you know, somebody mistakenly spilled a beer, said the
wrong thing, and that's building over a long period of.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Time, right, But man, is that embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Can you imagine, Hey, your dad got in a fight
after the game. Huh wait, wait, we just lost and
my dad gotta fight? Yeah, who is he going to
fight with?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Your brother? Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
How'd you know? It's on social media? You look at
your phone. What I don't even remember. They had to
fly home from Ireland and they probably had to fly
home together. I don't I don't have words.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox

Speaker 3 (03:08):
App Let's get through the Foxes and now say I
haven't had.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
This time and the budst podcast played for your portion
but previous show, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports One, here's
Brady Quinn talk about those who think Shadoor who's being
set up to fail.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
There are so many misconceptions with what's being spewed on
social media, and look, maybe they're just people who are
trying to gaslate. Like maybe that's what this is, and
that's what social media is kind of be coming now,
is you got to get a reaction out of people,
so you have to say things that are just absolutely ridiculous.
Or there's just certain people who viewed this world in
a certain prism and that's not going to change. And
those people seem to come out of the woodwork for
(03:45):
sports when they never lived there in the first place.
And by the way, like here's the things that I heard.
You know the play calls when Dylan Gabriel was in,
we're quick hitters, and you got the ball out quicker.
And then when Shador goes in or these max protection
take forever, but he's getting sacked all the time, even
though they knew they couldn't protect him. H okay, let's
(04:08):
break that down quick. You don't know what the biggest
difference was between Dylan Gabriel and Shadoor Sanders. When Dylan
Gabriel got to his back foot, he was decisive, he
got the ball out of his hand. Shador Sanders had
a number of opportunities to go to his first read
or second read or an underneath route that he chose
not to go to. That's not on Dylan Gabriel, the
coaching staff, or anyone else. And it's one of the
(04:30):
things I brought up in the last time that we
saw Dylan Gabriel out and really when Shaduor played well too,
they both looked good. The difference was there was something
crisped and quick about Dylan Gabriel and just how he
kind of has an understanding for the timing and rhythm
of NFL offenses when the ball is thrown with timing
and anticipation. Chadar took a lot of sacks in college,
(04:51):
and it wasn't just because his old line wasn't great.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
He holds a ball too long. I mean, guys, we
just we're gonna have to get to the part, okay
where we pretend that and now it's starting to be Look,
I think Ched Johnson is reputable. I think I love TJ,
Mnad and Zada. I didn't listen to the clip, but
apparently they're saying, you know, set up, set up to fail.
(05:18):
We're just gonna have to get to the part where
we don't pay attention that type of commentary, you know,
because the reality to it is he didn't play well.
He won't get rid of the fucking ball. He misses
guys that are open, he takes bad sacks, and then
when he's not playing well he pouts which parts of
(05:41):
these oh yeah, and then the second you don't play
him as much as he wanta he people think he
should play, or you don't start him, you're a racist
who's trying to undercut his his talent. Boy, you're making
it really really hard to.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Want to trade for him.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
If I'm a different team, you know, look, I thought
it was a good quarterback in college. I thought he
held the ball really long, and I knew there were
questions about his arm, strength, attitude, and athletic ability. None
of these things that have taken place have changed my opinion.
(06:22):
They've only made it that Okay. Now I understand why
there were so many questions. Here's Dan Patrick had this
message for those who will partake in prediction seested over
the next ten days.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
We talk about preseason. It's officially behind us now, but
the real action is ready to begin. And keep this
in mind. Don't take any of it too seriously because
we fall into this trap every preseason. Catub Williams was
supposed to light up the NFL. Marvin Harrison Junior was
going to be a Jamar Chase like rookie Kyron Williams
(06:57):
with the Rams. We thought he was going to be
a punt returner, ended up getting fourteen hundred yards and
thirty three million dollar contract in the off season. The
point is really simple. With preseason, it's about evaluation, not prophecy.
And it feels like we want to project. Now we
got it all figured out man Jackson Dart and he
should be starting Dylan Gabriel looks great. Maybe he should
(07:20):
be the starter in Cleveland. We want to be the
first to tell you something, and that's why I always
say just to use caution because the real story starts now.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
I I'm not a big prediction guy. I don't think
any of us are. I don't think there's any harm
in it. But people who act like they know it's
just because you just don't know it's gonna be healthy.
It's such a long season. You know, other things are
going to go and we haven't had a great snapshot
of how they look. I'm generally with Dan, but again,
I'm not going to be this. There is a room
(07:59):
for it since Vegas has its future odds, so obviously
there's a kind of there's more than a cottage industry
in it. Here's Jason McIntyre and for Colin Today, he
said this about Michael Parsons situation in Dallas.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
We are now in an attention economy, right, that's what
it's all about.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Are you talking about Dallas? Yes?
Speaker 7 (08:18):
Is Jerry going on Michael Irvin's podcast. I didn't even
know Mike had a podcast. Maybe that's new. Congratulations Mike
and Jerry's making the rounds and he's just talk about us.
We're Dallas, please keep us in the news.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
And then as many.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
People suspect a deal will get done at the last moment.
Chris Jones, you guys remember with the Chiefs a couple
of years ago, he or maybe it was last year
or whenever they played the Lions in Week one, he
missed the game and it was like, Okay, we've got
to get the Chris Jones deal done. But what's different
is Chris Jones had made a lot of money. Mike's
still on his rookie deal, and Jerry said something last
(08:52):
week about how, hey, we've got him under contract for
three more years.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
That sounds like he's pretty dug in.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
If you're a Dallas fan and you love Michael Parsons,
I'm gonna go ahead and guess he's the best selling
jersey on the Cowboys. If it's not number one, it's
two or three, it's right.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
There at the top.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
You're starting to alienate your fan base a little over
what a contract.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Really.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
You were gonna make him the highest paid and now
you're not because the agent.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Is getting involved.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, yeah, pretty much, that's pretty much it. No, I
don't think he's not gonna make him the highest paid.
I think the agent probably not trying to make it hurt,
tried run up the number, and I'm sure Jerry's like.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
We had a deal. This is the deal.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Do whatever you want to make yourself feel better.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
This is the deal.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I understand optically how it looks not great, and there's
a lot of people sit there go like, how could
you bypass the agent?
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
I also know that Dave Moultgetta is an agent that
drives a lot of people crazy because try and run
up the price. I mean he was the one with
the He's over the Deshaun Watson contract. That's David Mulketta.
So I mean, like, look, this guy is he's powerful
and with power comes confidence sometimes arrogance. It doesn't mean
(10:15):
they're trying to put him in place. It's just like
the you have to sign on no matter what, like, well,
that's not actually how it works. And they were right
there with the deal. So I don't have any doubt
that it gets done. But I also think there's so
much we don't know about this. That's why it's not
done yet. That makes sense to you, That's what the
Fox says, say.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Let's find out who's annoying Jason Stewart, and now it's
your annoying.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
I'm now annoyed that you didn't give enough credit to
Dan Patrick. I need loud voices to come out against
predictions season for the next ten days, where we get
the worst of the worst of sports content its host
for the betterment of their own egos, as Dan says,
so they could say they got something right offering up
(11:25):
empty calories to listeners and doing lazy segments with nothing
behind them. Good for Dan for saying it. I need
more influential voices to say it. I've said ten times.
If I haven't said it one hundred times, when I
program my own network, there will be no predictions on
that network. Empty calories serve the listener. Think of who's
(11:47):
listening to your show? Do they really want to know
what your prediction is for the NFC East Anyways, moving
on an issue with Joy Taylor, So full disclosure, I
worked with Joy over at FS one. Can't say we're
(12:08):
friends could say we work together, and I know you've
worked with her, and this is kind of where you
come into this story, Doug. In the wake of twenty twenty,
after George Floyd, something weird happened in our business. Everybody
chose a side and we knew the politics of everybody
(12:28):
on the air. Never happened before in the history of broadcasting.
Hopefully it never happens again. But Joy Taylor was very
much out in front with the liberals and the wokeness
and the marginalization of minorities and people who look a
certain way. In fact, that kind of wokeness caused a
(12:53):
little bit of a brew haha with you on the
air and the Drew Brees situation. Well, she was on
with Cam Newton on his podcast this past weekend and
Jason Whitlock was asked.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
About every time someone brings up Jason Whitlock, I can't
believe he's still with us. I don't think anything works
harder than his cholesterol, if I'm being honest.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
So, just to get this straight, someone who looked down
her nose at us for marginalizing people that look a
certain way, all marginalized people. Second, her back is against
the wall she has gone right to the fat, right
to the fat insult. Stephen A. Smith actually called him
(13:38):
fat two and he said, this is the one exception.
I don't do this with people, but this is the
one exception which I would say. I'm not a woke person,
but I thought Wolkeness was about nobody left behind. There
are no exceptions. This comes off as contradictory and hypocritical
to me.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Doug.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
I just I think, well, I mean, whooh, what to
say here? I mean, she's a bitch. I mean, dude,
she just said I can't believe he's still with us,
basically saying I can't believe he hasn't died yet because
(14:23):
he's heavy. That's what she said. Yeah, I agree with
you that something weird happened. I don't think every I
didn't pick a side. I just got thrown in the middle,
Like what what what happened? When do we get I'm
still there? I still don't understand. I don't understand how
(14:43):
any of these people who claim everything's racist still have oxygen.
You know, I get the oxygen from the masses. I'm
not talking about oxygen in real life. But she just
basically said, I can't believe he's still alive.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
It's kind of the last So she's a fucking clown.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Let's just call it like it is. Okay, fuck her,
she's a clown. Hey, she's a clown. She everybody said
she's the hottest thing in sports media. You gotta have
her on your show. And I was super open to it,
you know, super open to it. I think she's talented,
but dude, what the fuck? She would go every weekend
(15:26):
on some girls trip and post it on social media,
taking pictures or whatever.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
That's fine, there's.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Nothing wrong with that if you want to be an
Instagram model, but you wanted to have credibility in sports.
And then she speaks with authority about sports that she
doesn't know fucking anything about. No connections, nothing interesting. The
biggest connection is her brother Jason, who's a Hall of Famer.
That's it. She knows about sports. She knows how to
(15:52):
carry on a conversation, but like, how are we supposed
to take you seriously? And that was a big That
was my advice to her was when she would guess host, hey,
don't open it up and have like make it Women
of Broadcasting day. If you're good enough, just do the job,
you're good enough, But she acts like people are holding
(16:13):
female broad pastors back. She held them back. She did
damage to female broadcasters. How so I'll give you three ways.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Okay. One, Hey, you can't be shitting where you eat.
Everybody knows that.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
And when you're a woman, I'm sorry, there's a there's
there's a there's a standard for anybody. There's a real
double standard for women. And and like I just there's
there's no explit. She's never denied it. Everyone knows it
to be knows it to be true. So, okay, that
does damage to the credibility of all women because it's
(16:53):
not fair. But that is the assumption that you make.
You stick a woman of any sort of reasonably looking
women in front of a bunch of dudes in a
dud and these things are gonna happen, so don't hire them.
That does damage to women. Secondly, you get a job
like one. Uh and they called it a co host, right,
(17:14):
she's not a co host, but she was on Collin's show.
You do damage to your credibility. You don't have to
sit and stare at games all day. You don't have
to lock in and go to the stadium. But I'm
telling you you guys, tell me if I'm wrong. Every
fucking weekend. If you follow her on the gram, she
was traveling somewhe around the world.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Once again, she has the right to do.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Just don't tell me that I'm supposed to take your
sports opinion as credible when you clearly don't give a
shit about sports, right, Okay, And then the third part
is again joy has at times battled with her figure. Okay,
(17:58):
some guys Jason went finds her incredibly attractive, some guys
not into her. I don't care. It's not even it's
not part of the discussion. The point is that if
I were to say that about her or any other woman, again,
there's a double standard there. Or women talking about how
(18:21):
women look at somehow off limits. Everybody does it, and
yet on air it's off limits. So what is her
response to say that Jason Whitlock, I'm surprised he's still
here because of his cholesterols through the charts. So look,
Joya Taylor is essentially unhiable. We all know that Jason
(18:42):
Whitlock is low hanging fruit, easy punching bag. He's pissed
off a lot of people in the industry. None of
that is the surprise, okay. And the things that she
said on the podcast are things that are said behind
his back, but she said it into an open microphone.
But I'm just telling you this woman has done a
substantial amount of damage to female broadcasters, which she pretends
(19:05):
to give a shit about.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
She doesn't. Goodbye, Joe Joy.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
I want to cap this entire thing with something that
someone who held this time slot before you, said, comedian Jymore.
And just the disclaimer here, I'm quoting a comedian. This
isn't my belief. I just find it very funny. So
what Joy just did with Whitlocker reminds me of his
old bit when he says, I have no problems if
(19:32):
you're black, or gay, or overweight. I welcome all. I
have no problems with you unless you're late for something.
Then it's where the fuck is that fat black gay guy? Oh?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Oh Jesus. Jay H.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Cal Rawley hid his forty eighth and forty ninth home
runs yesterday, and I'm annoyed. I'm annoyed at me because
I'm the one who said that he was going to
slow down. In June. We talked about him and can
he sustain this as a catcher, as an pretty much
an everyday catcher, can he sustain this home run pace?
(20:11):
The answer is yes, he's broken the major league record.
This game's been played, and they've been keeping records for
over a century, and he's the only part full time
catcher to have this many home runs. And then for
anybody who wants to say something about that, like, oh, no,
he's DHD a lot this year. No, he hit his
fortieth home run yesterday as a catcher, so he only
(20:32):
has nine as a DH. By comparison, the catcher that
held that record, Salvador Perez, had fifteen home runs as
a non catcher. And I don't know whatever the math is,
thirty thirty three as a catcher. Cal Rawley has completely
obliterated this record, and there's still a month left in
(20:53):
the season. I'm gonna apologize to him, and I'm gonna
be annoyed at me for getting this way wrong. There
was no slowdown to cal Rawley.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
No, but you had a lot of good ammo. Right,
you had you follow the sport. You know the sport.
The unlikeliness of this type of second half is it
was very much well documented. Right, So with that in mind,
I understand it is. It's annoying, But is there anything
(21:23):
else that's annoying?
Speaker 4 (21:25):
No, I just have a prediction season, Joy Taylor and
cal Rawley and me.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Mmmm No, I have as rated Joey Taylor pretty good.
I'll just be annoyed at prediction season. It's dumb, and
I think the dumbest part is somebody who will get
it right and then they'll claim and act like they
know something more than everybody else when they're just lucky,
and for that, you're annoying.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Why are we doing this?
Speaker 8 (21:57):
I do.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Because we can, Doug. I want to thank Johnny Manziel.
Not only is it going to offer us some sound
for this segment today, but he's gonna also educate us.
As you're listening to this, keep this in mind. He's
talking about a gambling addiction. He's talking about something that
happened when he was an actual quarterback in the NFL,
(22:21):
and he hits on something very important at the end
that people seem to forget what happens when you get
in deep with the wrong people. But this is an
amazing bit of sound. He was on the podcast with
I saw Michael Porter Junior. I'm not sure who else
go ahead.
Speaker 8 (22:37):
I was addicted to the NBA. It was the years
of like Ron coming back to Cleveland, mellow is still.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Really good, Kobe.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
The Christmas games were like amazing, and for me, I
was so tapped in and hooked on weekly basketball, like
to get home from a practice and turn a game
on at seven or eight o'clock at night, like I
was fucking gambling, Like I was fucking ripping NBA games
every single day, tapped into it, loved it, bro and
was on like a crazy ride of it. After I
(23:07):
get cut in Cleveland, I learned about Sino credit and
like getting a wire and like walking to the table
and taking one hundred k out and being like, all right,
start with ten, fucking lose it another ten, twenty, and
you look up. By the fucking end of a weekend,
you're going out and you're drinking. You just fly through
one hundred grand, like no problem, no worries, chasing Just
(23:30):
like tough spot to be in. I remember like forgetting
about it, going on another trip and like going on
a run and then getting a call like go you
have twenty four hours until you pay this marker off
for people in Las Vegas are gonna send a felony
conviction out for your ass and they're coming to get you,
and it was like, oh shit, that is crazy.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Gambling addiction, I think in many ways is the craziest addiction.
Crazy addiction because the substances are all inside of you.
You don't need to, but you're trying to trigger those substances, right,
the dopamine and oxytocin and all that other stuff, So
(24:13):
that that's crazy. As a guy who he made it
rough for himself from having the world of his actual fingertips.
Why we play it for you because we can't. That's
it for the In the Motus podcast, check at the
