Speaker 1 (00:04):
Boom of America, Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio Live
and Direct from the City of Angels. Draft Day two
thousand eighteen is here. We got day Baseball. We'll keep
you updating on that. Yes, day baseball still exists. It's
a lot like pay phones. It still exists, and yet
you don't normally need it, although occasionally you're intrigued by it. Plus,

(00:29):
we gotta recap an incredible night by Lebron James h
coaching malpractice by the Indiana Pacers, Nate McMillan and the
Oklahoma City Thunder staving off disaster, absolute abject disaster. A
lot of hoops to get to, but let's start with football, because, uh,

(00:50):
Josh Allen apparently tweeted out some racially insensitive stuff like
six years ago. Is that right? Six years ago? So
here's what I want from you on Twitter or if
you're joining us in the Doug Gottlip Show when you
were in high school, if you were tweeting back when
you're in high school. I know Twitter didn't exist when

(01:11):
many of you were in high school. If you were tweeting,
what would you be tweeting about? It's like one of
those things like I would. I don't know how uh
how race stuff, why you would ever tweet about race stuff,
nor do I ever have I ever thought that way
in my life. And but I also don't know the

(01:32):
context to how much you're joking and how much we
we what we take seriously. There's just no context to
me that in context is in fact everything that said
that said, I'm only interested in this if you were
tweeting when you were in high school, what would you
have been tweeting about? Because I'll be honest a huge

(01:53):
Snoop dog fan high school? Right? Uh? Was it Doggy Style?
Was um? Was his album that was released? I'm gonna
say that was my senior year in high school. Course
to Chronic was like nine two or ninety three. Those
are my two favorite albums of my high school era.
So there's a pretty good chance that some of the

(02:15):
lyrics that are in those songs I would have been
tweeting about because when I was in high school, I
probably didn't think that would be one of the first
picks of the NFL draft, nor would I have had
the wherewithal to understand. Again, none of this makes with
Josh Allen tweeted, Okay, but there is the realization to
which when I was in high school I did a
lot of stupid stuff. I do a lot of stupid

(02:36):
stuff now, but not necessarily to that level. I would
have been tweeting about Dr Dre and about Snoop Dogg
when I was in high school. Who what it would
you have been tweeting about? Just I'm just thinking about
I had a high school girlfriend. I had a car

(02:56):
that I got my senior year. I do think there
are some things things that I would have kind of
clean up when I signed into college. I had a
lot of different stuff, a lot of stuff. I'll get
to Lebron in a second, Man, Lebron. Lebron has become
to Indie what Jordan was to Cleveland. How about that one.

(03:17):
You gotta remember Jordan and Cleveland and all the different heroics.
Lebron has become too Indie what Jordan has become to Cleveland.
Doug at lip Show, Fox Sports Radio. It appears that
Josh Allen is falling and Baker Mayfield is gonna be
your number one overall pick. And this has all the
workings of a mistake. Mistake not because Baker Mayfield won't work,

(03:44):
but everything is about likelihood. Everything is about in sports.
The reason we keep averages, the reason that analytics have
become important is likelihood. I was explaining on base percentage
to my son yesterday. My son, he's had he's a
really good little baseball player, gone through a little bit

(04:05):
of a slump. You know, this is not just kid pitch,
but he got eleven year olds and sometimes ten year olds,
and he just turned nine and this is the first
time he's facing There is a picture in Newport Beach
a kid who's really good. He's ambidextrous, right and left handed.
Pitched both right and left handed last night and he's
throwing fire. And we faced him Monday night and one

(04:28):
buzz buzz the tower, and then the next pitch came
right down the middle, and he was so scared of
his tower getting buzz that he didn't swing right down
the middle. Right freaked him out, and so we talked
through it. I got a buddy who does sports psychology,
who's an assistant coach in Israel. We did FaceTime with him.
He did a grounding technique. He he was good, he

(04:49):
was solid. He actually walked twice last night. But still
you're you're working through things. But I was explaining he
were watching a video that I saw on Facebook of
Ted Williams talking about hitting, And here's Ted Williams from
sixty years ago talking about hitting and those his same
approach even works now, you know, being quick, being short,
being through the ball, keeping your weight in the same.

(05:11):
Have we changed, you know, the swing plane a little bit,
but a lot of the ideas of hitting have remained
the same. If you can't learn something from Ted Williams,
you can't. He's arguably the greatest hitter in the history
of baseball, right, last guy to hit four hundred, And
I was explaining to him what four hundred men and
what on base percentage meant. And I'm the only thing
that we've used on base percentages. Look, the more times

(05:32):
you get on base, the more times to score, Right,
That's why O b P matters. It changes every the
more times the guys are on base, the more pressure
puts on a picture pictures, numbers usually go down. Fielders
usually don't feel it as a higher percentage, and you
score more runs. The goal and this is you know
the basics of how analytics have changed baseball is who

(05:55):
gets on base the most. It's all the matters, and
who gets on base the modest scores a higher percentage
of time. How much you get on base. That's about
percentage of time is how much you score percentage of time.
The likehood of scoring increases every time you get on base,
and the likelihood of of winning increases every time you

(06:19):
score earlier in the game. All these things are based
upon likehood of success. The same thing could be said
for your completion percentage. And it's hard. It's hard to
correlate the type of passing game that some guys have
wards dink dunk, dink dunk with downfield passing, but generally
below in college. You don't get higher in the pros.

(06:43):
Not all that's true. Matt Ryan, of course, bad percentage
of senior year. But but he's a He's incredibly accurate
as a pro. It's all about likelihood of success. So look,
the Baker Mayfield story is incredible. Here's not a one,
but a two time walk on a kid who is

(07:04):
a three time Highsman Trophy finalist, a kid who's a
little bit over six ft tall. Um, he got a
ton of moxy, he got huge lower intestinal fortitude, he
won a Highsman Trophy. Hell he didn't. How about this one?

(07:25):
He didn't lose a true road game while being the
starting quarterback at Oklahoma. And oh yeah, by the way,
if he gets trapped to the Cleveland Browns, he'll be
a backup. And here's a kid who has the makeup
to earn a starting spot. How do I know that
he did it a Texas Tech? He did at you?
So why God Liev? If you love the story, do
you not like Baker Mayfield to the Cleveland Browns? What's

(07:50):
the percentage of times a six ft quarterback makes in
the league? What's percentage of time a guy who runs
an offense that frankly is just better in college than
any other offense. I'm a big twelve guy. I don't
necessarily like to fall into these big twelve quarterbacks don't
play well in the pros. But what's said, who's the
most successful big twelve quarterback in the Nation Football League?

(08:12):
Is it Sam Bradford? And if Sam Bradford is your
success story? And I love Sam Bradford, but who But
here's the big one. Everything has to be perfect for
Baker to be Baker. And I know you're saying, oh no,

(08:33):
that's not true. He runs around back there. That's what
I mean. When Baker Mayfield was a Texas Tech as
a freshman and he was starting, remember that was an
incredibly explosive offense. Whether he was the quarterback or Davis
Webb was the quarterback, there was no drop off between
the two. None. Right when he was successful in Oklahoma,

(08:53):
they got better players, They got a better offense than
everybody they faced. They just did, with the exception of
Clemson in the National semifinals last year or Georgia in
the National semifinals this year. And there were times to
which you start to realize there's a limit to Baker's magic.

(09:14):
There just is. And tell me the time when the
Cleveland Browns had better overall personnel than the team they
played against. Tell me the time now they've they've traded
for Jarvis Landry, who was a talented wide receiver, but
they lost their Hall of Fame less left tackle. They
got to continue to rebuild their line. They got to

(09:37):
get better skill position players. They're at a talent deficit,
and you want a kid who's always worked at a
talent advantage to come in when his offense was better. Additionally,
he's gonna have two head coaches in his first two years.
I think everybody knows this, don't we. John Dorsey did

(09:58):
not hire that head coach Hugh Jackson. Hugh Jackson didn't
even have final saying who his quarterback is gonna be.
And Hugh Jackson is a quarterback guru. Of course Cleveland
would go off board and pick a guy who no
one else has ranked the number one quarterback on the
board because they're Cleveland. Because nothing ever goes perfect or

(10:21):
according to plan in Cleveland, and that lessens the likelihood
of it being successful. So I'm fascinated to see if
it works. I'm not rooting against him, but I'm telling you,
the likehood of success is not great. It might not
even be good. Oh yeah, by the way, you got

(10:44):
Tyrod Taylor, who he thinks he's a starter, he thinks
he's a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback. And oh yeah, by
the way, he did lead a team to the playoffs
last year. Good luck getting him to share time in
that film room, to share snaps in in training camp.
He ain't Josh McCown. He ain't all in on the
rookie ending up taking his job. That ain't who he is.

(11:08):
By the way, here's Scott mcclewin, who was on the show.
This has been referenced in Cleveland a bunch of times.
Here's Scott mccleuin, former Redskins general manager, close friend of
John Dorsey, who's the general manager of the Cleveland Browns
in October on this very show. You gotta pick one
quarterback to lead your franchise, Scott, who's gonna be? Baker Mayfield?
Really kind of up and down again. He wasn't great

(11:32):
against Texas, like he was great against Ohio State, wasn't
great this last week. What about Baker Mayfield? Do you like?
He reminds me of a shorter version of Brett Farve. Yeah,
that kind of arm. Oh yeah, you can throw it.
He's very confident and he's not afraid whatsoever. He's a battler.
But there's a there's Bett Farve is a loaded thing. Now.

(11:53):
Part of the Brett Farve problem is, do you think
of Brett Farve and you think of the crotch picks,
You think of Brett Farve and you think of Gunslinger.
I love Brett Farve, uh top five all time favorite player,
top five all time favorite interview to have. I'm not
sure that Brett Farve works as well in two thousand
eighteen as he did back in the nineties. Brett Farve

(12:16):
was a high risk, high reward quarterback. And oh yeah,
by the way, Brett, you know, Brett Farve was kind
of a simpleton in an ever expanding, ever intellectual sport
like the National Football League. But go back and look
Brett Farve. I believe all time and interceptions leader as
well in the National Football League. That that thing done play.

(12:39):
So if you want to compare to Brett Farve, ego,
the bravado, the the the risk taking, the he's not
as big, he's not as strong, he's not as athletic
as the guys that people compare him to, and he's
not going to the Green Bay packisn't remember when Brett
Farve hit with the Green Bay Packers. Who was on
the staff, not just Gruden, Andy Reid and a whole

(13:03):
bunch of other guys who coached down the National Football Icright,
Baker Mayfield's going to Hugh Jackson, who's dead man walking,
who's got to play, Tyrod Taylor, and a staff that's
not going to be around and a general manager who's
been in town all of six months. The road ahead

is bound to take some unexpected turns. Farmers Insurance can

a draft expert for Bleach Report. I think he does
a great job. Does he think that Mayfield will work?
If he's taken as the Cleveland Browns number one overall pick?

(13:48):
And then we get into number two? I think the
Giants were gonna pass on a quarterback if Sam Donald
was off the board. But if Sam Donald's number one
on your board and you're sitting in number too, shouldn't
the Giants take Donald? We'll discuss next. Progressives new Home

in one second. I mean hell, his Twitter handle is

All right, what did you just tweet about? Josh Allen? Man,
It's good to talk to you again. And I just
tweeted that I was talking to someone connected to the

(15:14):
New York Jets and the coaches that are making a big,
big push. Jeremy Bates defensive coordinator, apparently loves Josh Allen,
wants to work with him. And I'm not saying he's
gonna be the pick, because Mike mcagnet has to the
GM has to make that decision, but there are definitely
some coaches out of Foreign Park who would love to
see Josh Allen there next year. Okay. So there's a
couple of things. First of all, um, what was your

(15:36):
senior year in high school? Oh? One, okay, two thousand one,
Matt Miller in Joplin, or was it? Yeah, I mean
Liberal Missouri, tiny town. I know, I know where Liberal
Missouri is. I know. Um. Okay. So Josh Allen of
course got raked over the coals, uh this morning for
some tweets that apparently were deleted a couple of months ago.

(15:56):
They were tweets from back when he was in high school.
I would I I do not ever approve of racially
insensitive tweets. I also don't know the context of those
tweets or whatever. But I just asked you, Matt Miller
in two thousand one, if you were rolling with your
boys in Liberal Missouri, what would you have been tweeting about? Oh?
It would I wouldn't have a job today if they
had come out. I mean it would have been you know,

(16:17):
not to make excuses. I mean I grew up in
a small town in the middle of the country where
I wasn't exposed to other racist and other people. So
I'm sure it would have been insensitive. It would have
been stupid. It probably would have been some dumb movie
quotes and lyrics from songs like like what like oh one?
What was your jam in oh one? I don't even remember.

(16:37):
It's been so long ago. I do. I remember rolling.
I'm gonna roll and listen to the chronic When I
was in high school my sophomore year came out, or
remember listen to Snoop Dogg his new album My senior year.
Don't tell me you don't remember your senior year jams.
I think that was. I think Nelly was pretty big,
especially yea from a little little you know, so there
might have there might have been there might have been

(16:58):
something about if that, if the blank ain't right right,
if the blank is right, you can do every night
write something like that. And that's that's you've been trying
to holler it. You would try being trying to holler it.
Rihanna or whoever the Rihanna was of two thousand one,
Matt Miller joining us um. I don't think the Mayfield

(17:20):
thing will work if he goes to Cleveland. I just
I just I like I I and I like Baker.
I love the Baker story. And everybody tells me Baker
super high football, like you and guys love playing for Baker.
He's not Manzel, but there's just a lot of checks
that go, like, man he's small man. That offense always
tears up colleges and their quarterbacks are so so in

(17:43):
the pros and he's a big twelve guy, so you
can't really take those numbers seriously. And he's in Oklahoma
where they have better players than everybody except for you know,
Clemson and Georgia, and how that how that work out?
If Cleveland takes him number one, what will your honest
reaction be, Um, It'll be surprised, because mostly because of

(18:03):
the way that he's risen over the last year. I
remember meeting with scouts over the summer and they were like, yeah,
he's like a round four kids, maybe around five, small
spread off in off steel problems, not very athletic. I
remember one director of player personnel tell me when I
brought up Baker, this is in the season, and he
was like, many short, fat, why do we want to
draft him? And it's and it's amazing how much that

(18:25):
need a quarterback has changed it. I think your credit
to Baker too, that he's been able to really drive
his stock up with his play. But I don't know
if I believe the Baker to Cleveland stuff. And I've
heard it today and then I heard it yesterday a
ton as well. I put Sam Donald in Cleveland and
my mock draft, and I'm I guess I'm gonna stand
by it. Um, I don't know if I feel comfortable

(18:45):
enough to put money on it. And I believe the
the line has swung wildly today to Baker Mayfield is
a favorite. But it's gonna be fun tonight. I've never
covered a draft where I didn't know that who the
first pick was gonna be, but this is this is
the first for me. Batt Miller joining us from Bleacher
Report at NFL Draft Scout is his Twitter handle, so

(19:06):
he that's like, that's like when your name is dr
You've ever been able to resuscitate somebody if they're laying
there not breathing. He joins us in the Doug Gotlip
Show on his personal Christmas That's Draft Day. You watch
it on Fox, listen to our coverage on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, So, um,
let's say they go with Mayfield. And I talked to
an NFL GM this morning in the way to work,
and he was like, I, you know, like we operated

(19:27):
on the assumption that Donald goes one because Donald's so
far ahead on our board. If you're the Giants, who
everybody everybody thought or thinks it was gonna go either
running back or go Chub or maybe even go Nelson,
just go best football player because they have a quarterback,
because they have a great wide receiver. Do you do

(19:48):
you stay true to your board or do you go
with need? What do you do if you're the Giants?
I think the Giants will stay true to their board,
and I think it'll be Barkley. And I don't know
if it matters who the first pick is. Everyone I've
talked to you, and I even reported this back at
the combine that people in the Giants organization, if you
say Kwon Barkley is almost a perfect prospect, you know,

(20:09):
on field, all field, it's all great, no question marks,
And they firmly believe that this team is better than
their record last year. That if Eli Manning is protected
and they signed Nate Soldier and if he has some
weapons and they're gonna get Odell back healthy, they're gonna
get throwing Shephard healthy. If they can throw a stay
Kwon Barkley into that mix with an offensive minded Pat Shermer.

(20:30):
They feel like they could make a run this year
and and still have a little bit of a window
under Eli Manning. So like, if I were making the pick,
I would say, guys, we're never gonna be up here again.
Let's get a quarterback of the future while we can.
But it doesn't seem like that's the way they're going
to go. Matt Miller joining us in the dug So
you say you should go quarterback in the future, that
I see. I'm not saying what they will do, right.

(20:52):
I think that's one of the things what I do
for the NBA draft is I do what they should do.
Forget what they will do, right. What they will do is,
you know, sources will lead you astray. Sometimes they'll lie
to you. Sometimes things change time to say, or owners
come in and you know, we say owners own right,
they go like, hey, man, draft Johnny Menzel because I
told you to, right, and you gotta do what he

(21:12):
told you to. I'm saying what they should do. So really,
you actually agree with the idea you should draft if
if if Cleveland doesn't take him, yeah, oh, without a doubt.
If Sam Donald's there, I think he should be the
pick with for sure. He's one of the cleaner players
in this year's draft. I mean just he's twenty years old,
super intelligent, tough, athletic, poised, and people were going to

(21:35):
point out the turnovers. I think you can clean up
some of the mechanical issues to where he's not dropping
the ball solo and maybe not as prone to fumbling
because of that. But he's only going to get better,
and he's already the best quarterback in this class. So
he might not be on part with Jeric Golfer Carson went,
but I think he's on part with Mr Trobiski, who
went number two overall last year and showed some really

(21:57):
good flashes on a really bad team. So yeah, if
if you know the Mayor family wants to give me
the five million dollars they pay a day Edleman to
make that pick, it's gonna be Sam Donald, Matt Miller
joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show. You you mentioned
the Jets, who strangely traded up to but only to
the third spot, so they're sitting there hoping with the Rosary.
You mentioned that they're making a push for Josh Allen,

(22:18):
who do you believe would be if they had their
druthers and they could and they could pick, who do
you believe they they think they're getting or that would
be available other than Josh Allen. So I think they
believe they're going to get Backer Mayfield. That's everything that's
come out of there the last couple of weeks. If
Sam Donald's there, I I firmly believe Sam Donald's the
number one quarterback on the board of the Jets. If

(22:40):
he's there, they're gonna be doing backflips when they make
that pick because they just got again. They got really
lucky that a great player felt to him, like Winter Williams,
like Jamal Adams. So if Sam Donald falls to them,
they're gonna be a static. If Donald goes one, they're
gonna be really happy to draft Baker Mayfield. So I know,
like I said, you know that Jeremy Bates and some
of the coaches are pushing for Josh Allen. Like you

(23:00):
just said, Chris Johnson could walk in there tonight and say,
no draft Josh Allen or you're all fired. But I
think if they have a rational moment to where they say,
who's the best quarterback for this team? Right now and
in the future, they would be really happy getting Baker
Mayfield if Sam Donald's not there, all right. I talked
to um. I talked to a couple of scouts today

(23:21):
and they're like, look, I know everybody's talking about the quarterbacks,
but Nelson's a monster. Um you, I mean you have
ro Kwan Smith is a monster, and uh, you know, Frankly,
you have one of the you know, an elite pass
rusher as well, who's a monster. Like, how how do
you evaluate guys that you know and then you know,

(23:43):
you mentioned see Kwon Barkley. Like, that's four players that
everyone you talk to says they'll start right away, can
start for five to ten years in the league. How
do you evaluate the need for quarterbacks versus the need
for we got a football player who's going to start
force and could likely be a Pro bowler in the
next couple of years. Yeah, I think a lot of
it is even it's just pressure, the pressure to have

(24:04):
that quarterback of the future, to have that franchise guy.
I mean, the Jaguars went to the a FC championship
game and had to lead over the New England Patriots,
and people are telling them they need to draft a
quarterback this year, So if you don't have that guy,
there's just so much pressure to get one. And you're right, say,
Quon Barkley, Bradley Chubb, Clinton Nelson, and Rokuan Smith are
rare talents like those guys don't come around very often,

(24:25):
and and Bradley Chuck plays a premier position as a
pass rusher, and Roquan Smith is one of the better
inside linebacker players that I've seen in a really long time.
Quinton Nelson is a plug and play All Pro and
sa Quon Barkley has the highest running back grade I've
ever handled out. And so much of the focus has
been on these five quarterbacks that they're gonna go first

(24:46):
round that we really haven't even like talked about them
in depth throughout this whole process because everyone just wants
to talk about the quarterbacks when those four guys they
could all be Pro Bowlers in their first year. Cowboys
need a wide receiver. If if who do you think
most likely to go to the Cowboys if they go receiver,
I think it would be Calvin Ridley out of Alabama.

(25:06):
But every everything coming out of Dallas is that they
love this Blois State linebacker Layton vander ash who some
people have compared to Brian or Lacker. He does have
a medical issue. Where I've talked to one team that
has him on the board, I sucked others that don't
have him on the board because of his next So
he's an interesting case. But I think that they feel
like they can tap into the depth that receiver in

(25:27):
this class, and they signed Alan Hearns, so they don't
feel an immediate pressure to take a guy at nineteen overall,
So I wouldn't be surprised if it's a linebacker when
they get on the clock tonight. UM. I know this
is more of a second round uh tomorrow question, but
the second round or maybe third round could be littered
with running backs. I'll give you three from the SEC too,

(25:48):
from Georgia chub Sonny Michelle, Darius Guys pick one. I
would think Darius Guys. I think just what he does
is a power runner between the tackles. He has a
little bit of shaking his hips. Nick chell I, I
worry about just the lack of speed around the corner.
We saw it in the Alabama game where he just
got shut down anytime he tried to go off tackle.

(26:09):
I like Sonny Michelle, really versatile threat out of the backfield,
but just worry about durability with him. So I think
when you put the pros and cons together, guys coming
out of l S U looks like the best one
of the three. We haven't talked about Josh Rosen. What's
your eval on Rosen? You with me? Mat? Yeah? Hey, sorry,

(26:29):
cut out there. I said, we haven't talked about Josh Rosen.
What's your evl on Rosen? So? I love him. I
think he's a super clean mechanically. I mean everything he
does looks beautiful. I mean he he moves like Andrew
Luck and he's got that crisp, tight delivery. You just
worry about a guy who's been hurt a lot like U.
C l A. Concussions, shoulder injuries, those a't pretty serious

(26:50):
things for a quarterback. So I could see him slipping
a little bit tonight, maybe too, you know, around eleven
or twelve overall, unless someone trades up to get him.
But I think he's a misunderstood kid who, like we
were talking about, you know the things that you say
when you're eighteen year old freshman at U c l A.
And everyone says you're the next Troyman. Are a little
different than who you become and who you are even

(27:11):
three or four years later. So I'm a big fan
of his. I do think that the injuries are going
to hurt him tonight, though, because it's just a it's
a big risk. When you're talking about a throwing shoulder
and a brain, those are two things you kind of
want your quarterback to have, Uh, have healthy ones. I agree,
Like I've I've had people say like, look, he's just
he's too injury prone. Uh, he's too fragile. But I

(27:32):
do think it's interesting that everyone who watches him play says, Wow,
he's the best looking quarterback, and then no one has
him number one on the board, which tells you all
you need to know about Josh Rosen right that there's
it's it's the one of my the It's you walk

How long has it been on the market? Two years? Like? WHOA,
something's up? Did somebody die here? With somebody murdered? Here?

(27:55):
Is there mold? Like? What the hell happened there? There's
there's something something amiss. Um all right, man, I'm excited
to follow your work and to figure this stuff out.
In the meantime, we'll just we're waiting on the Browns,

it'll be fun and it's gonna be exciting because no

(30:51):
You two? I love the YouTube, josh a tweet the

the mid eighties. Definitely a lot of Laker tweets. Yeah,
there'd been a lot of you would have there have
been a lot of Celtic hatred and they're like, I
hate Danny Ainge, I hate Danny Ainge. Larry Birds, Larry
Bird sucks. Kevin McHale looks like Lurch right, Danny, I

(31:16):
want to punch Danny. There would be and I want
to punch Danny Ainge. Everybody wanted to punch Danny Ainge
if you were in Los Angeles. I was like the
Celtic fan in Los Angeles and I wanted to punch
Danny Ange. I just don't know what he's very He
was the Bill Lambireau of that team, like he just
he just I want to punch you. It was a
little Baker Mayfield to him. Frankly, if he's not on

(31:36):
your team, and even if you use it, you like
sometimes too much? Uh? Speaking of Ange, that did you?
Here's the thing what I saw with with Lebron? What
Here's what happens with Lebron, guys. Lebron was incredible last night?
Is are we okay saying that? But he was amazing.

(31:58):
Lebron goltended last night. He can be amazing. His game
winning shot can count and also be amazing, and we
can admit that's goaltending by rule and that it's a
screwed up deal here because goaltending is not reviewable because
it's a judgment call. And it's true that part of
goaltending is a judgment call in that you have to

(32:20):
make a judgment the ball is coming down on a
direct shot, right, and they're just like, look, we can't
do go back to the replays on at least goaltends.
The problem with it is there's a hard and fast
rule that if it hits the backboard first and then
you block it, it's considered goaltending. And you can make
the argument, well, you can make the hit the backboard

(32:40):
and a certain angle would be going up and it's
not goaltending by rule goaltending, so that actually should be reviewed,
but it is not reviewable, but we can at least
admit and oh yeah, by the way, he followed Victor Oladipo.
If you watch, you watch the replay, you watch the highlights.
He grabbed his right arm and then he still went
up and tried to finish with and finish with the
right hand in and I think Oladipo should have go

(33:05):
up finished strong. Yet this is the same thing as
Andrea Guadala. Uh in Game seven. All right, Lebron made
the block, but let's not let Ai off the hook. Hey,
Andre Goodala should have dunked the basketball. Leave nothing to chance.
Dunked the ball, but in chronological order, Oladipo probably got fouled.

(33:31):
Did goalten? Doesn't take away from Lebron hitting the shot,
but the Pacers should have fouled as soon as the
ball went in bound. How can you go down with
a foul in your back pocket? That makes no sense
to me none, Nate. That's coaching mal practice. From Nate McMillan.
Coaching mail practice. You leave a man on the basketball,

(33:54):
but you don't when you're when you're trying to foul
as soon as the ball gets in bad so you
don't have to guard. What's what's more difficult to score
with three seconds or to score with two seconds? The
oh and look, the Lebron thing is amazing. But I

(34:15):
started the week telling you this, and I'm gonna end
the week telling you this. It's just not sustainable. I
have owned all of the major brands of cars, okay,
and you can go through all the different lists of
what you think is the best made car I've had.
Accurates I've had Alexis, I've had Infinity, I've had a GMC,

(34:41):
I've had uh you name it, like on some and
and here's one thing I know that whatever car you
think is the best car, the best made car, Cadillac, Lincoln,
those new Lincoln Navigators are sick se Um, Mercedes, Benz,
they all have somebody. Even if they have a tenure

(35:03):
one thousand mile warranty, they all have a that warranty
at some point expires. Do you know why? Because even
the best made car on earth, you get to a
certain spot and there's too much wear and tear and
it's gonna break down. It just does. My wife had
an Infinity cue ship, you know this big We had
it for seven years and we never had a single

(35:25):
problem with it. We're like, dude, we're gonna overspend on
this because we're having babies and we want something super
safe for our children. And we hit that hundred thousand
mile mark and all of a sudden, like transmission given
us problems, and like, look, even the best made cars,
that's what happens. Lebron James is the best made car
we've ever seen play in the NBA. And I'm not

(35:46):
saying he's gonna get hurt, but I am saying that
at some point it's just too much wear and tear.
What team is most likely to trade up in the draft?

What do you guess we've got Rightcome all right, let's
rank of Doug. Let's rank the quarterbacks in the order

(36:54):
that they go into night's NFL draft, not what you think,
but the order that you think they will be picked.
We put five of them out there. How do you
think the quarterbacks fall in tonight's draft? Man, I think
it goes Mayfield one, Donald, two, Alan three, Rosen four.

(37:19):
Who's the fifth? You could have? Lamar Jackson, Mason, Rudolph,
Lamar Jackson will go late in the first All right,
there it is Mayfield, Donald, Allen, Rosen, and Lamar. Not
how I would pick? You asked how it correct? Correct? Not?
How not? You? How you think it's actually gonna go tonight?
Rank the team's doug most likely to trade up in

(37:41):
tonight's first round. Just the top three teams that you
could see make a big jump in tonight's draft. Buffalo Bills.
Of course, we've been waiting for how many months we've
been We've been waiting for the Buffalo Bills to to
trade up. Um New England Patriots, San Francisco forty Niners. Oh,

(38:01):
I like the forty Honors jumping up as well. I
also looked. I mentioned Green Bay yesterday as at fourteen.
There are times, and you, you and Matt Miller talked
about this, there are times that you just have to
take advantage of your position because you're not going to
be there every year, Like with Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay's
not gonna be fourteenth next year, so while you're there,

(38:21):
why not try to take advantage of it? Right? I
mean they're likely to pick next year if Aaron Rodgers
is fully healthy, because Green Bay will be better. I think.
I think you just have to be active. Okay, Doug.
We have four NBA First Round series that are completed,
but four more still hanging the balance. Ranked the series
that are most likely to go to a game seven.

(38:42):
We have a Game six tonight with the Celtics and
Bucks in Milwaukee. Uh, Wizard Rafters feels like seven. Celtics
Bucks feels like seven. That's the Wizard Raptors one Celtics
Bucks to um, I'll do, I'll do cast Pacers three
and jazzed under four. Think Jazz close it out in
Game six tomorrow? I don't. I don't think any of

(39:04):
them close it out. But I just don't. But um,
but that would be the most in terms of likelihood.
The Jazz didn closed out last year against Clippers, and
there's a history there and you still have Russell Westbrook
and Mellow and Paul George. I can go crazy. I
I'd still I still think it's gonna go seven. But

(39:25):
it's the least likely to go seven of that group
is game time on the Duck Godlap Show. I listened
to Fox Sports Radio all day. I'm I'm a p
one listener. As we say in the business, I just
I do. I think we have a great lineup, and
I think it's the diversity of voices and perspectives that

(39:46):
I find most intriguing. I was listening to Dan Patrick
this weekend, fascinating me with Sean Payton, and Sean Payton
was talking about last year in the draft and how
they were going to draft Pat Mahomes and he and
he's talked about Sam Donald Anyway, his situation last year
and his thoughts last year remind me of the situation
the Giants may be in Tonight Baker Mayfield goes to Cleveland,

(40:08):
which would be a surprise. What do the Giants do?
The answers should be very very simple. Share with the
next in the Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. What Up,
Doug Gottlieb Show, m Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.

(40:31):
Coming to you live from beautiful sunny southern California. Dallas,
Texas is the site of the NFL Draft. You can
listen to it in its entirety, first round and its
entirety on Fox Sports. Trade to night. We got a
great care out there. It's also on Fox TV. That's right.
An NFL draft on Fox TV gonna be great. It

(40:52):
gonna be a good night. You got hoops, you got
the NFL Draft. You have all this conversation about quarterbacks.
So look, I'm I'm intrigued to hear what Cleveland Browns
have done. And there continues to be this sense that
the Browns are gonna do something crazy, Right, They're gonna

(41:12):
do something crazy like drafting Baker Mayfield. One. If you
talk to most people who UM have their big board,
if you talk to people who are in the league,
they've used Sam Donald as the number one quarterback on
the board. Some have see Kwan Berkley as the number

(41:34):
one player on the board. Some have Donald does numb
one play on the board. I don't believe anybody has
Baker Mayfield outside of Baby Cleveland as the number one
player on the board. I could be wrong. I think
they just fit. I just think they like his intangibles
and enough of his tangibles that though you may like
Donald's upside, there's turnovers. Uh, there's the fact he's very

(41:59):
young and he's gonna have to develop Mayfield. Do you
feel like you're gonna get a ton out of and
he continues to get better. I don't know. I don't
know what Cleveland's thought is other than he's really, really accurate.
He's got a super high football like Q. So two
people I talked to you in NFL free free agent,
uh free ex NFL front offices told me almost almost

(42:23):
word forward. And they're different guys, so it wasn't they
weren't going to talking points that Mayfield had the highest
football i Q of any of the quarterbacks. Both said
they would take Donald because Donald Donald super high i
Q super high football like Q, just not as high
as as Mayfield. But they just like the overall prospect better.
He's bigger, he's stronger, he's more athletic, he's younger with

(42:45):
more upside, and uh, he will get better playing in
a better offense, and he played at USC. But Cleveland
might do something crazy and they might go in draft
Baker Mayfield or maybe even Josh Allen number one over all,
which brings us to the New York Giants, who the
people I talked to weren't in the Giants organization. But

(43:07):
what what you'll get is you'll get a lot of
lies about what, Hey, who are you gonna draft? Yeah,
I'm gonna draft. We don't know what's gonna happen in
the top five outside of the Giants are not going
to take a quarterback, and there's reasons for that. There's
reasons for that to be a a possibility, maybe even
a likelihood. You know, Dave Gentleman and Pat Shermer have

(43:31):
decided Eli Manning is their quarterback. They've said as much,
they've acted as much. They have Davis Webb, who was
drafted last year. Granted different general manager, but remember he's
a guy who actually beat out Baker Mayfield. So you
got you got those two things going for you, and
the Giants have a litany of other needs. If you

(43:54):
don't need a quarterback and you have a star wide
receiver and you're starting to rebuild your offensive line, you
could go with Bradley Chub who's just an animal defensive front.
And while you think like that's crazy, remember when the
Giants have won two Super Bowls in the last a
decade or so, they've done so with their defensive line
being dominant and he's a he's an animal, he's he's tremendous.

(44:16):
We had him on yesterday. You can download the interview.
You could go with Nelson, a kid from Notre Dame
who's as highly errated to guard as you'll find, like
you have to guard. Have you watched the Giants play.
There's a reason they went out inside and eight Solder,
there's your tackle. Now you get Nelson a guard, you
start to rebuild that offensive line. Nothing works unless you

(44:37):
can protect your quarterback. Or you go with sake Kwan Barkley.
Now you have a running game. Now you have the
best running back in the draft to go with arguably
the best wide receiver in football, and you rebuild that way.
The problem, though, is not just that you're the Giants
and you don't normally select in the top five. The
problem is you're reaching for a need instead of being

(45:00):
true to your board. Why don't you take a listen?
This was Sean Payton's on the Dan Patrick Show earlier
this week talking about the draft. But I do get
guarded with the idea, well, if we don't get our
quarterback at eleven, then we'll just get the next graded quarterback. Well,
what if the next one isn't someone you love. That's
where I think you sometimes can get into making mistakes.

(45:22):
You're strictly reaching for need as opposed to you know,
who do you have a conviction on. He had talked
about last year we had Pat Mahomes, if Pat Mahomes
was available, and uh, what was your selection, shoot, Marshawn Lattimore.
Marshawn Latimore wasn't available and Pat Mahomes was. Pat Mahomes

(45:46):
was that highly rated on our board. We have the
number one quarterback on our board. We were going to
take him and Peyton and I were Sean Payton and I.
We've talked about this before on this show at the
Super Bowl where he said like, look, we can't. We're
not gonna try and draft the next um thanks Drew Brees, Like,
let's just draft the best quarterback and eventually when it's
his turn, we'll build an offense around him. We can't,

(46:08):
like we built this offense around Drew, which is really
really smart, but more my takeaway, more than anything, and
this is what the other guys in the NFL front
office has told me, which is comman ship for the Giants,
because quarterbacks the hardest thing to find. You might be
staring at the number one prospect, in the number one
quarterback prospect, and you're never in the top five of

(46:29):
the draft, and you have an aging quarterback and you're
still not gonna draft the quarterback. Well, that would make
no sense. That would make no sense. So what do
you do? I mean, don't you just draft Sam Darlin

(46:50):
and figure it out. Let's figure out the rest, figure
out the rest. I still think the Bill has become
players here. They have too many picks and too much
of a need for a quarterback to not try and
move heaven and Earth and make and make a trade
to move up. I think the Jets have The Jets

(47:11):
have most likely to be screwed written all over their heads,
right sitting there at the third spot, thinking they're getting
Baker Mayfield but not really sure if he's going to
be there, and if he's not, you're taking your second bet,
your second chance choice, or maybe your third. Again. This
does not mean that who the Jets get won't work.
It's just the likelihood of success becomes lessened if you

(47:34):
spend all this time evaluating who you want to get,
and then the best you can trade up for is
the third best option at worst. Karn Butler is gonna
join us up coming next we'll talk to some NBA.
I gotta get with him about how how much longer
lebron can do this? This is remarkable. Did did Oklahoma

(47:56):
City figure out what they're doing? Because now they're playing
down on hill? Right? That was Billy Donald is a
big thing. We started playing downhill or you start playing
better one of the two. I'm personally not bothered by
Donovan Mitchell saying we'll see you next year, but I
do think it's the first piece of trash talk we've
heard out of Donovan Mitchell. Here's a guy that kind

(48:18):
of stayed out of the Rookie of the Year talk,
stayed out any of the trash talk so far with
Russell Westbrook, but he was caught on videos saying we'll
see you next year to the Oklahoma City Thunder fan
calling his shot. I'm not bothered by it. It's not
like Russell Wilson Westbrook needs any more motivation. I almost
feel like if you're if you're Ricky Rubio, you Ricky Rubio,

(48:41):
don't you, I don't know, don't you kind of stoke
the fires and get Russell Westbrook to play just as
hard as he played to two games ago, where he
guards you full court and stop worried about everybody else.

were you in doing high school? Man? I was just

(49:27):
thinking about that. It would it would have been probably
Little Wayne was pretty big in high school. That was
like right around his peak. Um, it was a big
little Wayne fan. I always liked eminem even though that
wasn't really it was more just he was kind of
in between at that point. And uh. That was also
the start of Jersey Shore was huge because it had

(49:50):
just started and everyone was all in on Jersey Shore.
M hm, So would you have dropped some Jersey Shore? Yeah,
they've been some Jersey Shore and if some he popped
we bring this up because Josh Allen was roasted earlier
today because apparently there were some tweets that he deleted
from back when he was in high school. He deleted
them a couple of months ago when he was deleted

(50:12):
and again, I don't, I don't. I'm not sure. I
don't believe in like racist rehab. I can't be like,
I don't like whatever. People they're like, no, no, now
I went to rehab and now I do like, I don't.
I don't really know how that exists, but whatever. Um.
I also don't know if he really is a racist,
or what he was commenting on, or if he was

(50:32):
trying to be funny, you know, if it's an inside joke,
like these are things we just don't know with context.
The point is that he was tweeting about things in
high school, and if in a snapshot of our own
lives we tweeted about stuff in high school. Ramos would
have been tweeting, probably about fast Times, Ridgemond High and
how much he hates Danny Ainge. Dan Buyer would have

(50:55):
been tweeting about Rick Meyer sucks right. Music would have
been tweeting um about Jersey Shore and probably some of
the women on Jersey Shore and who of the women
he wanted to get with on Jersey Shore, which would
not have gone over well with his now very significant other. Right,
and I would have been tweeting probably about my high

(51:16):
school girlfriend, about Snoop Dogg lyrics, about Dr Dre lyrics,
and that would not have been well received. Context doesn't matter.

(52:44):
you remember, Like, when you close your eyes you think
back to the draft day, will you remember, man? You know,
you know, I go back to that moment and I'm
just like wow, Like I think about everything then, you know,
I possibly went through all the adversity that I went
through in my life at an early age and being incarcerated, UM,
going to prep school, being kicked off the state of
Wisconsin from the school board, from raising, being unified, UM,

(53:08):
and finally being on that platform and just having an
opportunity to you know, really hear my name called and
walk across that stage. Man. I was just like, man,
just a it's a blessing. That's pretty cool, pretty cool.
It's It's one of the things that sometimes gets lost
in the do we like or not like the draft
pick and all the different analysis of it is like
it's the culmination of a life's work and for for

(53:29):
many people, uh, it's it's a dream that we that
so many of us who play sports have but never
get a chance to a fill. And it's like you
want to kind of find the balance between the two,
right well, like congratulating people and understand the emotions of
the experience that they're going through, but also be able
to talk about if you think they're going to be
successful in the place in which they were drafted. Man,

(53:50):
I think you hit it right on the on on
the head. I think so many times we talk about,
you know, the potential on the outside and they messed
up with this pick, and you know, this out respecting
the layers and the journey of the individual, you know,
most for the most part. You know, I got drafted
when I was twenty years old, a little older, you know,
but a lot of kids, you know, getting drafted at
the age of eighteen nineteen, and you know, it's a

(54:12):
lot being thrown at these young individuals, you know, the
kind of been sheltered to the a U and collegiate
programs and you know, just not really having the chance
to really have that normal childhood and just to be
thrown into the fire like that, you know, we should have,
you know, applauded them as much as possible for you know,
actually just being able to make it to that platform.

(54:33):
So it's amazing, and you know, I'm gonna do that
tonight as I watched the NFL Draft, you know, I'm
I'm gonna celebrate these guys that worked so hard to
you know, even make it an opportunity to finally you know,
hear their name called, that's Corn Butler, tough to joining
us on the Doug Gottli Show. Did the Thunder figure
something out? Or do they just get hot last night

Russell Westbrook, you know, they of what do you do?
And that's why he's been rewarded with the the hefty contract.
And uh, Paul George, you know, plays significantly well. I
don't think it was really adjustments. You saw him down,
you know, um, you know, just like they was down
pretty much in the last couple of games, Uh to

(55:16):
you taw and it looked like it wasn'tna be the
same story. But you saw greatness that you know at
his best. You know, you saw greatness on two on
two platforms. You know, with Lebron James being in Cleveland
in that game, UM could have easily went either way.
And then you saw it with Russell Westbrook in this
series with Utah and obviously okay, see, you know, no

(55:37):
real adjustments was made in that series. It was just
the dominance of a great player that just took over.
Let let me ask you about about Lebron James. Let's
go the first to his last play. Um that he
is young, tried to cheat, right, he tried to cheat
the screen. Lebron read it and popped out. Is it
possible that Indy wanted to foul, but that he is
young in his effort to kind of cheat and read
the play ended up stopping them from fouling? Or do

(55:59):
you think there's just down the time to use that
final foul that they had to give. I don't think
they was trying to file. I think it was trying
to play excellent defense to try to read the play
and and and try to disturb the play. You knew
where the ball was going. I mean, you know, with
that amount of time left. That means that you had
to catch the ball and do exactly what he did,
create a shot. It's only it's only two guys on
that team can actually do that, j R. Smith and

(56:21):
the other one is obviously Lebron James Kevin Love. In
that situation, they probably would have been a turnaround catching shoot. Uh.
Jordan Clarkson never been in that moment or in that position.
So you gotta play the numbers game, in the odd game,
and you know, in hindsight everything, but you know, from
a deep pensive standpoint, you gotta make sure Lebron do
not catch that ball and leave it upon someone else

(56:42):
to beat you. I was just texting with with two
NBA head coaches and they I said to exactly They said, well,
it's it's easier said than that. I was like, dude,
how about this, Let's not let the best guy on
the planet get the ball. You got three seconds left,
make somebody else beat you. Isn't that rule number one? Yeah?
It is easier saying and done it. You know, usually
people don't want to say that exactly what they're feeling,

(57:03):
but you know, I mean, look, man, we were in
this space and we gotta speak our mind, and you know,
I don't have a horse in this race, and I
gotta be honest, and you know you gotta deny Lebron
as much as possible. I'm okay with anybody else on
that team. This is two opportunities that was blown by
the Indiana patients. You saw one at the last home
game and then you saw this one. And you cannot
believe in your in your in your heart of hearts

(57:24):
that you're gonna you know, win the home game in
Indianna and then go back to Cleveland for the second
time in the series and people Lebron James in the
closing game seven. So I think, you know, they really
forfeited that series by not using their best knowledge. That's
the voice of Karen Butler tough jooses his nick name.
Of course, you can hear on Fox Sports Trading with
our guy Chris Mannox Newton to three Eastern times Sundays

(57:46):
on Fox Sports Radio. Uh, let's get to this Wizard series,
and I think this one is super interesting. Look, I
think the Wizards are a team that if they're right,
they're capable of being the Calves. I think the Raptors
are team they meet the Calves in the playoffs and
and I don't know what what you're talking. I do
think the winner of this series has a chance against
the Cleveland Cavaliers. But here we are again with them

(58:09):
looking like a different team home versus road. What's your
sense of the Wizards and and and what to make
of how unbalanced it's been based upon where they're playing.
You know that that's been the story of you know,
the Wizards for some time, and like you touched on,
you know, it's two teams out there that's that's that's
healthy enough, that can be consistent enough, uh to to

(58:33):
beat the Calves. And I just don't see that happening
with either teams. For one, I think that the Toronto
Raptors are whatever it is, they struggle with it. Lebron
has some type of you know, big brother little brother
thing with them, and then with the Washington Wizards, it's
almost like you're struggling to be consistent and you're just
waiting for something to happen. And that's something always happened

(58:57):
in the Lebron series, that happened with us, you know,
going the way back to two thousand, six and seven
and eight, you know, three years in a row and
then it seems to be happening in the same you
know form, you know, with the current Wizards as well,
when they play in the Cleveland Cavaliers. Garrold Butler joining
us in the dug Outlips show, Do the Pelicans have
a chance against the Warriors? You know what I think

(59:18):
if if Anthony Davis is playing you know out lights
out and having the out of body performances and you know,
doing all the things that he do, playoff Rando playing
at an unbelievable clip, and then through holiday, you know,
doing exactly what he does, I think that they can
possibly push it six, but you know, to beat them
in the series. I don't see that happen because, you know,
Draymond Green is you know, warm enough, He's starting to

(59:39):
make shots. He's getting a more steady diet of shots
where he's not getting spot shots where he's getting six
and seven opportunities, he's getting thirteen shots and fourteen shots
where you can establish the rhythm. And you saw that
with the Washington Wizards when John Wall was out. Alto
Porter was playing so well because he's getting his reps,
he's getting volume of shots and looks. So would that
be and said and then it's the cavalry coming over

(01:00:02):
that that that that that mound. At some point, you know,
Steph Curry is going to be you know, released, and
then that's just gonna be a whole another dimension. So
at some point I think, you know, they just imposed
they will on the series and they win that series.
But the next one is gonna be one to watch already,
I think it will be. It'll be a great one
to watch. Um. Last thing I want to ask you

(01:00:24):
about Lebron James. We started with him, let's end with him.
He's carrying this team, like single handedly carrying the team.
And some of it is that's the construction of the team.
Some of it is that's what Indie wants him to do, right, Well,
make him beat you by himself and hope you wear
him out. It doesn't look like Indie is gonna be
able to wear him out, But but doesn't the burden
of having to go for forty every night? Doesne that

(01:00:44):
at some point wear him down to the point where
maybe they lose to that Raptors that they normally wouldn't
lose to Hi, Maybe they lose to the seventies six
ers they normally wouldn't lose too, because he's had to
carry so much of this load before he ever gets
to those series. Hey, I said the same thing. I said,
you know, the NBA season as a marathon, it's a toll,
and you gotta pace yourself. And then the second season,

(01:01:04):
which is the playoff as a toll, and there's another
marathon and it takes on the life of his own
where anything can happen. But I learned one thing. You know,
you cannot bet against, you know, game changing and generational talent.
And Lebron is that. Kobe Bryant was the same thing.
And obviously Michael Jordan's goat was that as well. And
you know, whenever you think that these guys can't dig

(01:01:27):
a little deeper in they bag of tricks and pull out,
you know, some type of miracle or some type of
performance that just continues to remind everyone that they're different,
it happens. And it happened last night. It happened in Indiana,
and uh, you know we saw it, you know, with
a guy like Russell Westbrook average in the triple double
this season. Again, he put his performance on this play

(01:01:49):
last night as well. And I think Lebron is, you know,
just cut from that cloth where he could continue to
dial in and continue to prove all the dollars and
then they say that may say is wrong. So you
know it's it's it's a pleasure to watch it, man,
and we're watching great. Yeah, it's gonna be fascinating to see.
That's tough. Juice Corral Butler. Check him out Sundays with
Chris Mannox on Fox Sports Radio. Juice, thanks for joining us.

we got night, NFL Draft, night, NBA. All right, let's

(01:02:33):
find out what's going on in the world of sports tears,
Dan Byron, don't you notice something that we heard a
theme of the Cleveland Browns that John Dorsey wasn't gonna
tell as coaching staff we was gonna pick until right
before the draft. And now we're hearing leaks right before
the draft after a report came out that that Hugh
Jackson and his staff are told the day ago. I'm
not saying I'm just saying. That's all that I'm saying

(01:02:54):
is maybe there was a reason. Are you saying? What
are you saying? Maybe there was a reason John Dorsey
tell uh, Hugh Jackson and his staff we was going
to pick. Because now there are leaks everywhere, including a
report from ESPN that says the Bronze are leaning towards
taking Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick in tonight's draft.
It wasn't just ESPN. There were reports from the Athletic

(01:03:14):
as well saying that the Bronze were high on Mayfield recently.
But Baker Mayfield right now reportedly the odds on favorite
to be the first overall pick in Tonight's draft, which,
by the way, you can hear on Fox Sports Radio
starting at eight o'clock Eastern time. Potential topic quarterback Josh
Allen apologizing today for racially offensive tweets that he said
when he was in high school. Those tweets came out
in twenty twelve, and Allen said today that he was

(01:03:36):
young and dumb. Those tweets actually were deleted from his
account a few months ago. He actually was young and dumb,
though unlike when Alex Frodriguez said he was young and stupid,
he was actually was young and dumb at the time.
That very dumb, but young and dumb. Yes, that is true.
Jaguar's owner shud Cons made an offered to purchase Wembley
Stadium in London. A Pie says it was worth eight

(01:03:58):
hundred and forty million dollars offer. Of course, the Jaguars
have a deal to play a game in London through eight.
It won't go a penny over eight. Is that is
my limit? Yeah? You mentioned NBA Playoffs Games six tonight
Celtics box, eight o'clock Eastern Time. Celtics are up three

(01:04:19):
two in the series. Pirates want today on a walk
off from Corey Dickerson in the bottom of the ninth
to beat the Tigers one nothing, only to be outdone
in the Bronx high It's is gone. It's a game
winning walk off, three run home run. Gary Sanchez the
Sangino for three Yankees win. Yankees? Why you get it

(01:04:46):
all there? For the Yankees radio network and John Sterling
as they dropped the Twins. Yes, by that four to
three counts drama and the Brons. Okay, I have a
question here, yes, um, and please forgive me because this
is a stupid question. I know nothing nothing about the
English Commiership Premier League. I do nothing about it. Um,

(01:05:07):
he doesn't shod Khan own Fulham. Yeah, he owns one
of the teams. Yeah, Okay. Do they play in Wimbley Stadium?
I don't believe so, but I'm not sure. I don't
think they do. I think they play. I think they
play in Fulham, which I don't believe is where Wimbley
Stadium is. It's just my my guests, and so it's

(01:05:29):
really weird to me that he would own a team
that doesn't play. He would own a stadium where his
team doesn't play. Now, it was mentioned in the release
by the Jaguars that con said that the London games
are crucial to the continued sustainability in Jacksonville. So he's
saying that for the team to really thrive in Jacksonville.

(01:05:51):
Everybody thinks he wants everything, he wants to move the team. Correct.
I will say they do the London Jacksonville Jaguars where
they play like half and half. They might. He made
a point early on in his ownership. That said, Listen, Manchester,
England is not the most popular city in the world,
but they may have the most popular soccer club in
the world in Manchester United. So he says, hey, maybe

(01:06:13):
I'll try to take some of that blueprint and try
to use it with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Well, I mean
that's just maybe his thought process to make it maybe
more of a worldwide brand. Does he know that he
has Blake Bortles as his quarterback? Remember he's Blake Portles
is the is the dude, he's the guy. They love
him in the locker room. Yeah, that's why they took

(01:06:33):
a knee with whatte seconds ago in the first They
love them in New England. In New England, but that
would be weird though, right to own like Whimbley, but
but also have a team that plays in Fulham. Where
does I was trying to figure out where's all his
money come from. There's some automotive deal that he owns, right,
flex flexingate Flexing. Yeah, it's a it's a bumper deal

(01:07:01):
or whatever that he started in the eighties. Remember those
Toyota trucks, the little Toyota trucks where people would take
off the letters in the back. I would say, toy
remember talking about the little Toyota trucks, right, Um, So
he supplied the bumpers for the big three automakers in
the eighties, he started also made these small bumpers for

(01:07:23):
those small Toyota pickup trucks. That's where like, uh, it
went from like seventeen billion in sales from like two
billion in sales. Anything that you could ever find, somebody
was way smarter than you invented it sold, it had
the patent or whatever, and they're just sitting there rolling
in dough and shod CON's one of those guys. Bumper

(01:07:46):
Works started working in a place called Bumper Works. He invested,
he invested in it. It was like a customized truck
and body shop. And he did it while he was
in school in Illinois. And then he starts supplying bumpers
to the Big Three and bumpers too, uh, and bumpers
to Toyota. And that's where he made like all of

(01:08:09):
his cash, a bunch of his cash. That's crazy, isn't it.
And then about the Jaguars. Then he bought Fulham. I'm
I'm sure he owns a bunch of other stuff and
he's got that fantastic mustache. I don't even like mustaches,
but I am amazed by his mustache, right, Like that's
his signature thing. He he shaves that mustache. No one

(01:08:30):
will ever know he's a multi multi multi mull. I
think we're like seven billion dollars. Nobody knows who he is,
but that mustache speaks for herself. And I guess, you know,
like he owns a team in Jacksonville, owns a team
in Fulham, and he wants to buy Wembley Stadium. Which
brings us to the TV show Billions. You guys watched Billions.

(01:08:52):
I think the very first episode. It's what's the point
of having a few money once in a while? You
don't say f you right? It's pretty great shot con amazing,
really really amazing. There's something else I wanted to get

(01:09:12):
to that you were talking about BYRS trying to figure
out what the hega was. Well, we've got Josh Allen Baker, Mayfield, Bucks, Celtics,
Gary Sanchez walk off home run. Oh I know I
was gonna say, um, I don't know if you saw this.
Note this is a crazy one. Okay, So when I say,
right now, best team in baseball. Who immediately comes to
your mind without without really looking at the standing. Okay,

(01:09:36):
I I think that's fair. Um, would you say the
same thing. We're almost Red Sox come to your mind
as the best team in baseball? They have I breath, yes?
Would you? Would you say best team in baseball? Oh? Yeah,
they're up there. I definite. When I picked up J. D. Martinez,
That's that's what took me over the top. For them, well,
incredible pitching staff and now they got price lined out.
Houston Astros are a plus fifty seventeen and nine. Of course,

(01:09:56):
Verlanda was great. They did lose two or three from
the Angels Brillanda only one yesterday, but then was having
wine sitting courtside of the Rockets game. Total money move
there having some red wine. The Red Sox are plus
sixty four and run differential. They're eighteen and five on
the season. The Yankees haven't been bad. Yankees are playing
mostly home games. They've only played eight road games and
there are fifteen and nine. There's still three and a

(01:10:17):
half games back. Have you guys been paintingted at all
to what the dimebacks have done? Um, we gotta start
doing a segment I called nobody gives a Schmidt. Nobody
gives a Schmidt about the Arizona Diamonbacks because it's it's
the Paul gold Schmidt has been awesome for years. And
if I mentioned Paul gold Schmidt to the baseball fan,

(01:10:39):
you know who Paul Goldsman is. But to the mainstream fan,
you say, mentioned the five best baseball players of the
last five years. I don't think he gets mentioned? Is
that fair? I think people say Bryce Harper, people say
Clayton Kershaw. People would probably say Justin Verlander. Um. Who
would be the other name, Mike Trout that I said,

(01:11:00):
I didn't say Trout. Yeah, they would say Trout, Harper, Verlander, Kershaw,
who else? Chris Bryant. I don't think they would say Chris.
I maybe say Chris Bryant. Um Cabrera. Do you think
people say Cabrera? Um? Anyway, my point is that if
you look at Paul Goldschmid and what he's been able

(01:11:23):
to do over the last half decade, like the numbers
are obscene, obscene, and nobody actually mentions it. And look,
he's not off to the greatest starting to what he's
on base a ton, but he's not in terms of
his power numbers are down so far this year. I
think he's only got four home runs so far this season.

(01:11:44):
His average is down, but look, he's getting on basist
about as much. I saw this note. The Diamondbacks are
the first n L team to win their first eight
series since ninety seven. That's crazy, right, nineteen seven. That's
a long time. So my point about records is records

(01:12:04):
and can sometime be misleading in baseball. In baseball, what
I've been told is the two or three things you
look for to see if a team is legit is
run differential. If you're just beating the hell out of teams,
you know, because one run games, they'll end up even
and out by the end of the year. But that's

(01:12:25):
why you go by run differential and series wins. They've
won eight their first eight series. That shows the depth
of starting rotation, that shows are not getting in a slump,
and it shows that they have a couple of guys
that can pick up the baseball. And you mentioned j D. Martinez.
They lost j D. Martinez and they're still very very good.
And Paul gold Schman's UH power numbers are down anyway,

(01:12:49):
Skip Bayless thinks Russell Westbrook orchestrated one of the greatest

Come on Dad, like you ever heard that song for
it above the Rim soundtrack? Do there? You remember soundtracks?
Sometimes soundtracks are better than movies. Remember the movie Poetic

can choose from over one hundred specialty tools to help
you get the job done right. So stopping a day
and getting the Zone Auto Zone. Take a listen to
what Skip Bayliss had to say about Russell Westbrooks leading
of the Thunder in an incredible comeback. Russell Westbrook, the
all time warrior that he is. He just willed his

(01:14:21):
team in front of the home crowd right back into
that game. I don't think I've ever seen things quite
like that on degree of difficulty against a team that
was dominating you, and all of a sudden it was
reeling right before your fear as Utah looked in out
because Russ shot him right in the heart, took their

(01:14:41):
hearts on that night. We'll see if they can have
some open heart surgery before Friday night. We'll see how
that goes. But in the end, it was a do
or die win for the Thunder and they live thanks
mostly to Russell Westbrook just saying not in my house. Yeah,
look at I would agree that last night it was

(01:15:03):
about Westbrook, it was about Paul Paul George, and it
was about their their fortitude right their ability to just
say we we're not ending our season today. The problem
is that that by by sheer force of will, it
doesn't feel like a great long term game plan. Now,
the pressure does give on Utah. And the weird thing

(01:15:24):
about three one is if game five is at home.
Game five is at home, You're like, Okay, we have
another home game. It's not that much fair. Game five
is on the road. Now you got one home game,
and the pressure does does flip to the Utah Jazz
does flip through the kind of inferior team. I think
the big thing for the Thunder is going to be

(01:15:45):
how do they play at the magical level that they
played at the third quarter and yet maintain their emotions
because they lost control of it because you toss him
to goad them into everything, and they took the bait
between Westbrook challenging Rubio, between Paul George getting a technical foul,
the Flops totally bothering them, the crowd, the altitude, all
those things. Look, I personally think that the Thunder are

(01:16:06):
gonna win in game six, But I do know that
that's a snake pit you can go into and you
can get caught up in se Ryan music ahead. But
is this the outcome of this series going to determine
Paul George's future or do you think it's essentially already
made up? Either way, I think it's pretty much made up.

(01:16:28):
I just do I you know, I think it's it
wouldn't be It's not necessarily the outcome of the series.
Some of it's how how the series feels um, how
series feels right. I think some of it is also,
you know, like just the sense you get like it's
never going to be easy with Russell Westbrook. It just

(01:16:50):
isn't never gonna be easy. And there's just limitations to
that franchise. They are saddled with that, with that Carmelo
Anthony draft pick, they do not have a lottery pick
in this coming year. I think there's not this increasing
amount of hope on the rise, like Andre Robertson is
gonna come back from the knee injury, but like, let's
be honest, like Andrew Robertson can't shoot, cannot shoot, and

(01:17:14):
the number one thing he brings to you is incredible
defense and defensive versatility. So I do think he comes
back and he can be a slightly better shooter because
of all this rehab, but he'll probably be an inferior
defender to what he what he has been because he's
coming off of injury and you're not getting rid of
that contract. You're not getting rid of Steven Adams, Like
I just I kind of think this franchise is gonna

(01:17:36):
be in bad shape. You know, Look, barring a not,
they don't just have to win this series. They're probably
gonna win the next series against the Rockets if they
want to like claim to try and to keep it.
And so if if you think it's done and pretty
much done, the Paul George Westbrook teammates era is gonna
come to an end after one season. It doesn't mean

(01:17:58):
that he goes to the Lakers. No, I'm not saying that.
What I'm what I'm going is who's more likely to
end up actually winning a championship by the time they retire,
Paul George or Russell Westbrook. Does a chance that neither
wins a championship? And isn't that crazy to think how
much things have changed for Westbrook Because if you would
have asked that same question just about Westbrook the year

(01:18:20):
that they went to the finals when it was him
and Kevin Durant, almost everyone would have certainly said he'll
get at least one at some point. And now it's
looking more like you're going towards Russell Westbrook may not
end up getting a championship. He has been a one
NBA finals, but yeah, yeah, like look, that's part of
the deal with it with the Supermac's deal is like

(01:18:40):
he ain't going anywhere, right, he ain't going anywhere. And
what you're saying is their championship hopes are looking very
dim in the near future. And so by the time
his deal is up, he's going to be in his
early thirties ish and how long will that fast, slash
and dash type of style hold up? But later he
it's in his career. Yeah, it's there's a problem like

(01:19:02):
his his his game is built on will and athleticism,
you know, more than any sort of best Like he's
just the most athletic, strongest athletic point guard we've ever seen. Uh,
And he dominates the ball, but he can dominate the game,
will dominate the basketball. So I agree with which which
has a shorter shelf life that I don't know how
much evolution there is from that to like a two

(01:19:25):
point o version. Whereas if you're you know, like, look,
if you're Steph Curry, you're Steph Curry, who's not the
athlete or the defender when at at his best, that
Russell Westbrook is Steph Curry is always gonna be able
to shoot, and it's it's simply and always gonna be
able to pass, and they're simply gonna be less volume
of ball dominance. And you would think he can always

(01:19:45):
play off of some another superstar, you know, like that.
Kevin Durant is seven ft tall. So even if he
gets to where he's not as athletic and he can't
go by guys like he can now, he's always gonna
be able to shot over guards and he'll always be
slightly more athletic than most big guys. So yeah, I'm
I'm I'm with you on that. The bigger thing is

(01:20:06):
going to be you're in Oklahma City. It's hard to
get free agents there, and so uh if Paul George leaves,
there will be a sense of it wasn't that much
fun to play with him. And the only way they're
gonna get guys is Karmlo Anthony type people that guys
want to get rid of I want to get rid of.

(01:20:27):
We'll we'll take back into the NFL Draft upcoming next.
I can tell you unequivocally my favorite NFL Draft moment
of my lifetime. You can share with me yours. It'll
be different than the one you you think is my
favorite one. We'll talk about our Twitter, our Twitter, whether
or not we should look into Josh Allen's tweets from

(01:20:48):
the past, but if coming next. I love the Baker
Mayfield story. I hate the idea of Baker Mayfield to
Cleveland on the Doug Gotli Show, What Up It's Not
got Leave Show? Fox Sports Radio. Do Do Do Do

(01:21:10):
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do? You gotta be
very careful to not fall in love with the story
instead go with the most likely outcome. That's why you
should never bet on your favorite team right, because your
favorite team has waged way too much emotions. Favorite team

(01:21:32):
you always think is either way better than they are
or way worse than they are right when things are bad.
I mean you should say you should say I didn't
know Ramos two years ago, but I do. I was
told because I saw in the bathroom all the pills.
Um maybe they weren't his. Anyway, From two years ago

(01:21:55):
when the rams were terrible, they all say John Ramo
son like he was going to therapy. It's really uncomfortable
how medicated he was to try and find balance in
his life now that then the Rams were good this year,
and he you know, promise, did you ever unload those
Super Bowl tickets you had? I held onto them for
you know, just to see him for future, So we'll see,

(01:22:16):
got it. That's not that's not actually how it works.
But that's the point is like everybody's got their favorite
team and the reason you shouldn't bet on it because
you're just too emotionally charged to the story. I mean, like, look,
it's even with the Loyola of Chicago thing in the
Final four, right, they're like, oh man, they could do it, Like,
yeah they could, and they did for you know, a

(01:22:39):
good thirty six thirty two, thirty four, thirty six minutes.
They were right there, and then all of a sudden,
Michigan's like, you know, we're better than them, right, don't
fall in love with the story. Stories are great, great
to tell your kids. Baker mevn's a great worry great story,

(01:23:02):
not good great story? Yeah? He look, I mean he
had scholarship offers, just none that he loved, so he
I want to walk on it Texas Tech. He ends
up becoming a starter, did get beat out by Davis Webb.
And then when Davis Webbs starters as uh what's his name?

(01:23:24):
Joined us? Was at last week Cliff Kingsbury joined us? Yeah,
last week Cliff Kingsbury is like, looked a little bit
of miscommunication. I kind of wish he had left whatever
he left walks on Oklahoma only makes that team, but
their starter starts for three years, takes him to college
football playoffs, three time Heisman Trophy finalist, and wins the
Heisman Trophy this year. That's a wow. I love the story. Yep,

(01:23:51):
I love the story. You better than Sam Donald? Hell No,
I mean, look, I don't I like the guy and
the story better than Josh Rosen. Man, it's hard for
me to get over the fact that Josh Rosen looks
a lot like well, every NFL quarterback I've seen for

(01:24:12):
thirty years, doesn't he. We've all seen Rosen play because
we're here in southern California. Don't get me wrong, there's
some injury history, there's some personality quirks when you see
Josh Rosen back there pointing out making plays. When you
watch Josh Rosen, was there ever a moment which is like,
I don't think he's an NFL of course? Not fair depiction.

(01:24:36):
Isn't music that that's what Rosen looks like? Yeah, definitely.
It's like, here's what it is for Rosen. Rosen is
as an NFL quarterback is a lot like what people
when I went to my twenty year high school reunion,
when people would say about me and now one person
would say, oh, you talk for a living, like yeah,
that that doesn't make sense. You talk about sport. If

(01:25:01):
you tell people that I grew up with that I
talked about sports for a living, they'll go like, yeah,
totally makes sense. That's exactly who he is. Have you
told people that grew up around Josh Rosen or watched
Josh Rosen play football the last three years U c
l A or two years at St. John Bosco, they
would say, yeah, that makes sense if you looked at

(01:25:24):
if you went and you said, Baker Mayfield is high
school class, Like Baker Mayfields give me the number one
pick in the NFL draft, but like get out of here,
get out of here now. It doesn't mean that it
and equivocally won't work. But I do think we're latching

(01:25:44):
onto a story to a narrative which sounds great and
reads like a reads like a It's one of the
great things about like one of the great things about
some movies that have endings where somebody gives up like
a home run or somebody loses their last game, like

(01:26:08):
it's so it's okay, Like that's the reality of it.
Sometimes the shot doesn't go in. I understand Mile in
high school did win the state championship for in Indiana.
I understand that the Indians at least beat the beat
the Yankees in Major League. But we later learned in
Major League two they didn't win in the playoffs, right,

(01:26:29):
and that wasn't that what happened? You guys don't know.
I just told Ramos, I said, I didn't even know
there was a Major League too. Yeah, major League two,
it was wasn't very good in the Major League three
was back to the miners, wasn't there? You know, who
know about this? I guarantee buyer would know. Guarantee. I

(01:26:51):
guarantee your buyer will not fire. You know, But major
League two wasn't major League to the premise that they
lost in the playoffs and or lost the World Series
in Major League one, I never seen it. Have you
seen Major League? Yes? Of course. Favorite character in Major
League m hmmm, probably William mays Hayes. William mays Hayes,

(01:27:13):
where are you going to meet about? Um? It's pretty good,
it's pretty good. Lou Brown's my favorite character. Al Right,
Lou Brown is the manager. Lou, what do you think
about Mary? What do you think about managing the big
club this year? I don't know, Charlie. I got a
guy in the other line about some white walls. I
have to get back to you. We're an entire shop.
Then becomes the manager of this the only one thing

(01:27:35):
left to do when the whole thing ramos. Are you
familiar with Major League the movie? I am familiar with
Major League two. Wasn't it the premise that they didn't
they didn't win the World Series? I just remember Charlie
Sheen pitched crazy? Was what crazy? Pitched? Pitched crazy? That's
all you remember about the movie? Yeah? We wild Thing

(01:27:56):
Von wild Thing Von and Barringer played a character I
thought was based on my one of my players. Would
I for the Dodgers? STEVI Yeager? Steve Yeager. He was
in Mexico and there's dogs running around. He answers the phone.
He thinks his buddies. Remember when he gets the call
to come to the Yankees, to come to the Indians
training camp. He thinks his buddy's messing with him. I

(01:28:17):
has got super bad knees. He lays down a bunt
in that final scene, that final game, and he's he's
running and of course they you know, they go from
second to home. Uh yeah, Ricky, Ricky Vaun was great.
Right where'd you play last year? Cali, California? Pino? How
did you get there? Stole the car? Right? We were
we were sleeves, We were sleeves and caps at this level.

(01:28:38):
Vaughan stug Gotlip show, Fox Sports Radio. My point is like,
I love the stories, but you don't draft stories, man,
your draft players. Sam Donald's the best player on that board.
He's the quarterback who was most likely to make it.
And based upon what you have in Cleveland, where you
already have a a starting quarterback in place with Tyrod Taylor,

(01:29:01):
he'll fit in best as your backup and and look
like Mayfield. He has that that Gennese koax. What the
French call is certain? I don't know what the ability
to make plays and make people believe and turn a
team around. Don't believe me. USC's coaching staff was going

(01:29:22):
to get fired two years ago. They were dead men walking.
They were gonna get fired. Then Sam Donald came in
and started, and they go from that to winning the
Rose Bowl too. Clay Hilton got a contract extention this
year why Sam Donald And I don't think Clay Helton
is a very good offensive coach. I don't think they
did the best job in allowing Donald to evolve. So

(01:29:47):
I love the Mayfield story, but Mayfield's a guy that's
been You know, when you're a quarterback in Oklahoma, think
about who are the best quarterbacks? You know who the
all time lean pastor Oklahoma is Landry Owns right. Doesn't
mean he was awful in college, just means he's playing
with great players. I think Sam Bradford's really good. And

(01:30:10):
some of Sam Bradford's lack of long success in the
NFL is because of injury, but some of it is
Sam Marriage is not that good. He's probably great players.
I just I struggle with the Mayfield who has been
at an advantage considering that all the the offense was
great for college, the personnel was great for college, his

(01:30:31):
knowledge of it, his age, like he's old. He's a
fifth year senior, Sam Arland's twenty years old. I don't
think it's all that close. I don't think it's all
that close. Scott mcclun is a consultant for the Browns.
By the way, he's a former GM with Redskins. I
had him on in October. This has been referenced in

(01:30:52):
Cleveland several times. I asked Scott mccluen who he liked
most in this draft. Tic A, listen, you gotta pick
one quarterback to lead your franchise, Scott, who's it going
to be? Baker Mayfield? Really kind of up and down again.
He wasn't great against Texas, like he was great against
the State, wasn't great this last week. What about Baker

(01:31:12):
Mayfield do you like? He reminds me of a shorter
version of Brett Farve. Yeah, that kind of arm. Yeah,
you can throw it. He's very confident and he's not
afraid whatsoever. He's a battler. Yeah, none of that, none
of that was boy. Does he read coverage? Well, none
of that was man. Does he throw up? Now? Look,

(01:31:33):
he does think he has armed talent, but it's the
whole He's a battler. He's a tough guy. That's going
along with stories, narratives, even intangibles are great. But there's
a what's it called. There's a continue You guys know
what a continuum is, Okay, And on one end to
the continuum you have intangibles. On the other hand, you

(01:31:54):
have tangibles. Intangibles are really important, really important. But you
can have all the intangibles in the world if you
don't have the tangibles size, arm strength, accuracy, ability to
see the field, play within a pro style offense, leadership
in a room full of men, and some of that

(01:32:15):
he has, but some of you did. I love the story.
Two time walk on, three time High Span Trophy finalists.
Let ohe you to two national semifinals, wins the High
Span Trophy. Gonna be a first round pick. It feels
like a lot to see him beas the number one pick.
Number one pick is different, Number one pick is different.

(01:32:38):
I'll never forget the speaking of Cleveland. Um do you
remember when Anthony Bennett was selected as um as the
number one pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Remember that? Okay,
I do too. Okay, So, guy named Chris Grant was

(01:33:00):
the general manager at the time of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His friend of mine and he told me, he's like, look, obviously,
Victor Oladipo was the guy we should have drafted, but
we thought, you know, Bennett, super young, can play a
bunch of positions, bunch outside. We just we just passed

(01:33:20):
on Oladipo because he didn't really have a position where was.
It felt like Bennett could be a face up four
and that's the way the league was going, and we missed.
But if if Anthony Bennett was the second pick or
the third pick or the fourth pick in the draft,
wouldn't have been that big a deal. But because he was, um,
Anthony Bennett was the number one overall pick, you're just

(01:33:44):
you're judged, you're viewed completely differently, completely differently. Like Athony
Bennett is a bust. I'm not even gonna I won't.
There's no other way of saying that. Complete bust. But
it's also accurate it to say that there have been
other colossal busts. Even in that draft. Victor Roldivo went

(01:34:10):
second to the Atlanto Magic Auto Porter has become a
nice player at third. There have been others. Janice of
course went in that draft. Crazy Hashima beat second pick
in the draft, Huge bust, but not viewed as nearly
as big as bust only because of one difference. Ones
and number one overall, pick both at the number once.

(01:34:32):
Always since I've been growing up, always looked as a savior,
like number one. This guy is gonna change our team,
and so you're right totally even from one to two
like that number one guy is like, oh, this guy
is gonna change our team. He's exactly what we need
to win the championship. And if you don't do it,
you're a bust man. Bucky Brooks from the NFL Network
will join the show up coming next Um, we'll get

(01:34:54):
to that in a second. The road ahead is bound
takes a month, expect turns. Farmers Insurance can help you
understand your coverage options with our practical knowledge game for

what's fucking brooks reaction? And what are the giants do it?
To find out next? Car shopping can be confusing with

(01:35:22):

Jay Glazer, Joe Clatt, Chris Pelman, Kurt Menafee eight p m. Eastern,
five o'clock Pacific, you'll hear the entire first round of
the NFL Draft on TV. It's Fox and the NFL

(01:36:05):
Network working together. Speaking of the NFL Network, Brook Bucky
Brooks um works for the NFL Network, played in the league,
covers the league. We woke up today to the news
that hey, it's getting It feels to some like Baker
Mayfield's gonna go number one overall, Bucky, won't you would
your reaction be if that was the case. Uh, it's

(01:36:27):
pretty much going to happen. Uh, Like it's a done deal.
There are a lot of people that are gonna be
surprised by that. But the Cleveland Browns have decided that
Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback for them. Uh, there's
some people in the build that remember they're large Green
Bay Packers contingent that now works for the Cleveland brown
Are we with those guys in the mid nineties when
Brett Bob won three straight MVPs, John Dorsey, Elliot Wolf,

(01:36:51):
Alonzo Highsmith, Scott McCoy as a consultant, they see um
some of the same swagger, from the same confidence, some
of the same relatability that Baker Mayfield had with his
teammates that Brent par pad when he was great. They
sent some of that magic. So what you're hearing are

(01:37:12):
people who are saying Baker Mayfield may have the if
factor to get us over the hump, even though we
can say it's not prototypical in terms of the way
he plays the size and dimensions. There's just a sense
that he is going to bring that magic to Cleveland,
which is why it is highly probable that he is
going to be the number one pick for the Cleveland

(01:37:33):
brow Again that none of that is what I asked you.
I'm not that's great background. I'm asking you, Bucky, if
Baker Mayfield goes number one. Are you like, dude, that's
a mistake or yes, that will work. He's not worthy
being a number one pick. Um. If you asked me
in a vacuum last summer with Baker Mayfield be the

(01:37:53):
number one overall pick in the draft, I probably would
have laughed at you that you had asked me at
the end of the fall if you would be the
one overall pick, I would say that there is no way.
When you look at his game, you look at his skills,
I don't see a transcendent star. The number one overall
pick should be a transcendent star, a guy that is
destined for all Pro recognition, destined for Pro Bowls, destined

(01:38:17):
to lead his franchise to the Super Bowl on the
strength of his right arm. I don't see that in
Baker Mayfield. What I see is a very very good player,
a player that could be a nice, complimentary piece to
a team that has a lot of nice weapons around him.
I see more case Keenan. I don't see Drew Brees.
I don't see Russell Wilson. And even with those guys

(01:38:38):
they want are taken in the first round, we're talking
about number one overall pick. I don't see it. No,
I I couldn't say any better. A matter of fact,
you said way better than than I could have. Okay,
so let's say that happens, and should be pointed out
that that Albert Brier tweeted tweet out this, I did
say this. The point was even the clear buzz between

(01:39:01):
Browns and Mayfield. Other gems are kind of like yeah,
we'll see or to no way Dorsey takes some more
three or three hours to go. Um. But let's say
I I kind of think most people agree with you
in the league, like Donald seems to be the guy.
So if you're the Giants and you're sitting there at
number two, and you've assumed that the that the Browns

(01:39:23):
are taking Sam Donald and you don't value may Feel
at that level or Josh Allen or whatever, but now
Donald's gonna come your way, what do you do? If
you're the Giants. I think you're the Giants, you have
two options. You stick to the plan that you take
the best position player, the player that will elevate Eli Manning. Look,
they're all record saying they believe Eli Manning can still

(01:39:44):
play winning championship football. They want to elevate the player
of the quarterback. That's why they win getting made solder,
That's why they made all the moves that they have
made to this point. I believe that we want to
take saw Parkley because the running game can elevate the
player of the quarterback. It can they get offense more dynamic.
And because Eli Manning should be able to play better,

(01:40:04):
they believe he can get them back to the championship threshold. Remember,
only two seasons ago this team was in the playoffs.
I believe they don't see themselves in the middle of
a rebuild. They see themselves in the middle of a reload.
That's why I say Quan Parker is probably going to
be the pick. Again. That wasn't what I said. I
asked you what they should do. Is that what they
should do? Oh, I believe that's what they should do.

(01:40:27):
So Doug, I've been on records. The quarterback class has
been overhyped. We have a fascination with quarterbacks. We love
quarterbacks because it relates to fantasy football. None of these
quarterbacks are worth the top five in terms of how
they measure up to the other position players. They're just
not that. But we have seen teams jump ahead to

(01:40:50):
take quarterbacks because everybody in their mom will tell you
you gotta have your franchise quarterback. You've gotta have your
franchise quarterback. So people panic and they reached for the quarterback.
The position ship players are more talented at the top
end than the quarterbacks, and if you stick to that premise,
best player available, that giant should take the best player
and bo pass the quarterback, no matter what public c

(01:41:12):
interments set. I got a text from a college coach
and from an NFL front office guy, and they're kind
of both the same. They're like, dude, Chubb and Nelson,
plug them in, they start for you for a decade,
and they're both probably Pro bowlers. Fair uh, fair, because
I think those guys are talented. Look, we can say

(01:41:32):
Sae Kwon Barkley, Bradley Chubb, you can say Quinn Nelson,
ro Kuan Smith, Denzel Ward. Those five players are legitimate
all Pro caliber players, blue ship talent. I would even
throw Derwin James in that category. I believe they're six
all Pro caliber players that you can pretty much write
them in and prison him in. The quarterbacks are not

(01:41:54):
below that. Of all the quarterbacks, the two best in
my mind are Sam Donald and Josh Rosen, and I
would read Rose and ahead of Donald, but I wouldn't
make a big think if Jona went ahead of Rosen.
That's how I see. I believe those two guys are
the best quarterbacks. Everybody else when it comes to quarterback
they're a knock below. And I wouldn't invest a top
five pick in any of those guys. Bucky Brooks hater

(01:42:17):
on joining us in the dum kidding. Yeah, that's a
bit like if you don't like my guy, if you
don't like who I like, then you're a hater. That's what.
That's what. That's what people on the Doug Gottlips show. Uh,
Roquan Smith, who I have. I I know several people
later on the first round like, man, he's not gonna
be around for us. Now you've got the Niners who
are in suddenly in need of a middle linebacker. That

(01:42:39):
seems too obvious, doesn't it? It seems obvious, But it
makes sense. Um. The reason it makes sense they're a
couple of different reasons. When the nineties were good as
recently is four or five years ago that Patrick Willis
and the guarl Bowman inside both of those guys could
anchor anchor the coverages. They were sat against the run.
They were great Russian and blitzen and doing all that stuff.

(01:43:00):
John Lynch played for one of the best defenses of
all time. Who did he have as one of his compadres,
Derek Brooks. When you look at Roquan Smith, it is
easily It's easy to envision Roquan Smith playing like a
Derrek book to the next level. He can hit, running cover,
He's fast, he's explosive, he has an alpha dog mentality.
He is by far one of the best players in

(01:43:21):
this draft. I couldn't agree with you more. Cowboys seem
to need a wide receiver, but they love the lineback
with the next problem from Boissey State, uh in terms
of wide receiver wide receiving class based upon where the
Cowboys draft, if you were in that room, who would
you tell them to draft now? My personal favorite is
Calvin Ridley. But here's what I'll say about the wide receivers.

(01:43:41):
Of the all the third team receivers taken in the
first round, that s only one has been a Pro
Bowl player. I believe that this draft is deep and
wide receiver in the second and third round. Five pass
the wide receiver, say the best position player as head
of the linebacker, like you allude to late Vanders, plug
him in. You can always find wide receivers that can

(01:44:05):
fit into a systematic approach. It's easier to plug those
guys in than to find a ponal five star. I
would see if I can find the star in another position,
circle back to the wide receiver position. I think the
value will be comfortable. What do you think the Patriots
are doing? All the Patriots are laughing. The patients are
gonna look at all the casts at the top of
the board, and they're gonna find a way to get

(01:44:26):
the best player. I know there's a lot of conjecture
about Lamar Jackson being there. I think if they happen
to have them fall into their left they would get it.
But I don't look for them to make that move. Typically,
when they've had multiple picks in the first round, they
go defense. Look for them to double up on defensive players.
When they have won, it's because they've also had a
championship kell of the defense. They are lacking elite defensive

(01:44:51):
player personnel talent. Look for them to double up and
find two guys on defense that can help them get back.
I could not possibly agree with you more like everybody's
kind of missing as we're talking about quarterback, talking about quarterback,
talking about quarterback. If you watch this year, the Patriots
were able to get to the Super Bowl and nearly
win the Super Bowl in spite of the fact that
they had no defensive playmakers. Now they have four picks

(01:45:14):
in the first two rounds, and people think they're going
to take a quarterback position they already have and they
have a backup for I just I can't see them
not going to try and get in some elite defensive talent. Oh,
that's what they want to do. They would like to
give elite details show And I'd be the first to
say the Patriots haven't drafted will uh toil we at
the top of the board. They're saving Grace has been
the Bill Belichick is the best coach of all time.

(01:45:36):
He does a great job of picking up free agents
because he can evaluate pro tape and he can see
the apples versus apple that's opposed to apples and oranges,
which is propers College looked with them to really try
and find some a level defensive talent because if they
can get the defense to play at a high level.
It really doesn't matter what they do on offense. He
does a great job of scheming them to eleven or

(01:45:56):
twelve games. And as long as you have Tom Brady,
Tom Brady can get you to the winners cuple no
matter what you put around here. Great stuff Bucky Brooks.
You'll seem on the NFL network and uh of course
also part of the a great podcast, I mean Unbelio podcast.
Bucky Brooks does an outstanding job and joins us in
the Dug Out Show. Bucky, thanks so much. Enjoy Draft Knight. Hey,

(01:46:17):
thanks so much. Pleasures all mine this tax season, your
refund goes further. Auto Zone Thanks to the Free Loaner
Tool program, you can choose some over a hundred specially
tools to help you get the job done right. So
stop in a day getting the zone. Auto Zone should
be pointed out Bucky Brooks, Dan and Jeremiah Um what's
that called? Move the Sticks podcast? Really really goods on
TV as well on the NFL networks. Bring in Dan Buyer,

(01:46:40):
who in fewer movies than anyone I know. That is
that is probably true, just just not my wheelhouse. Doug.
I love a good TV show that wraps up in
thirty minutes, but sometimes the movie in that ninety minutes
a little too much to ask. NFL Draft should take
about three and a half hours at all gets underway
at eight o'clock Eastern time. You'll hear it right here

(01:47:03):
on Fox Sports Radio live from a T and T
Stadium in Arlington, Texas. We've got you covered from the
first pick all the way to the thirty second pick.
And the Browns hold that first pick, with reports saying
they're leaning towards taking Baker Mayfield with that pick. You
guys just talked a lot of football Doug with the
Bucky Brooks, So let's talk some hoops. Warriors guard Steph
Curry practice fully and it's questionable for Saturday's Game one

(01:47:25):
against the Pelicans, although Celtics and Bucks will play Game
six tonight in Milwaukee eight o'clock Eastern time. Celtics up
three two in that Eastern Conference first round series. Some
walkoffs Today In baseball, Gary Sanchez a three run shot
in the bottom of the ninth Yankees beat the Twins
four to three. New York has won six straight while
in Pittsburgh's flyball to right field nearing the wall castianos

(01:47:48):
and solo home run and the Pirates who win it
nothing Corey Nickerson Roger on the Pirates radio network, Dexter
follower an RBI single in the thirteenth helped the Cardinals
edge the Mets four to three, Braves over the Red
seven four and the Diamondbacks, those sneaky Diamondbacks. Doug top

(01:48:09):
the Phillies today eight to two. Not sneaky. Not sneaky. First,
I told you first team since nineteen seventy seven nationally
to win their first eight series. I do appreciate you
following up on that, Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Golf is still being played. Golf is being played. I
just like to be the like golf. You're like, oh,

(01:48:31):
you got day baseball. That's like third NBA basketball. It's
like second NFL draft is one, like, oh, we gotta go.
It's Zurich Classic, Zurich Classic. You guys got eight trips
this summer and buy are you going anywhere nice this summer?
We haven't, We haven't. We haven't discussed summer plans just yet. Yes, um,

(01:48:55):
it is in the works. A few places Europe, Caribbean.
Where do you Caribbean? Asia? I go Caribbean. Yeah, I
go caribbeanciation Yeah. The I don't want to jinx anything, Doug.
But I would be crossing a body of water. Let's
just say that. That's that's in the plans. No, No,

(01:49:17):
the body of water. So maybe I'll go. Maybe I'll
go to the Caribbean or Caribbean. Maybe it'll be west,
maybe it'll be east. It's like you're not giving it.
What do you think people are tracking? You know, I'm
doing it for my own sake because I don't want
to jinx it because we're in the planning stages, right.
I don't stand how you jinx. If you pay for it,
it's gonna happen. If you don't pay for it, it's
not gonna know. It's not paid for yet. That's the

(01:49:41):
that's the thing of like it's in the works even
this weekend, over this past week, trying to sort things out.
But yeah, looking to go uh abroad maybe this this
summer abroad with abroad right with you? That's with my wife?
Uh music. Now you nearly got yourself iced out of
a free trip to Hawaii. That's for Christmas time, right summertime.

(01:50:03):
So it was summertime summertime. He went to Hawaii last year.
We've known each other that long, that's right, right. So
for people who are just joining us, um, Ryan Music
has a they're not common I don't live together because
or at least they don't tell their parents they don't
live together. But it's funny. He doesn't seem to come
from his home address in Torrents all that often anyway,

(01:50:24):
So he's at the stage where there's really no point
in paying two rents. That's where Ryan Music is right now. Yep.
So what happened was what happened was he got to
go on a trip she had, like a family trip
to Hawaii that he got to He got the gravy
train on, which is sweet, and then she was she
loved it so much that she was like, let's do

(01:50:47):
it again next summer. And he was like, yeah, I
don't know, and I don't think he meant anything by it,
but it was such a bad call. Right, you just
always go like, yep, let's do it. Mark me down,
and then if you ever want to call an audible,
you can call an audible. I've learned since do right,
the answer is yep, okay, I'm in so are you
going back to Hawaii, and there was another trip that

(01:51:07):
you were thinking about, like your family doing because you
were trying to play top or like, oh you go
to we're going to Australia. No, we are not going
to Australia and we are not doing anything of the sort. Okay,
so you're just gonna gravy train correct, all right, Ramos
you Doug, we trick our our family trip already to
the lovely Las Vegas. Yeah, I won't take your kids.

(01:51:32):
In fact of your kids. Um, you made your kids
pass out those uh you know, those invitations to a
lot of your kids picked up a tat, a vaping
habit and some debt. Everybody says what happens in Vegas
days in Vegas, debt, STDs and marriages those on the

(01:51:55):
stay in Vegas. I don't know what people were talking about, Lucas.
Is that cinnamon vape? Okay? Thanks? H uh uh you
know what? What's what's fascinating? Uh? Are you going? I'm sorry,
you going somewhere? I don't know, Okay, I don't know
what you're like. No, I mean, I you know, honestly,

(01:52:19):
like I'm just not a planner guy. Like I like
first I like coming to work with all you guys.
I like talking about sports when I've taken I don't
like taking a lot of time off because I feel
like I missed stuff and have to catch up. And
I just don't. Um. I think I'll have a couple
of cool opportunities do stuff, but I just I don't know.
I like kind of where I live. I'm I'm weird

(01:52:39):
that way. I like where I live, and I really
like my dog and my kids. So my wife is
I think we're sending at least one and two maybe
three of them a way to slummer sleep away, summer
camp or whatever, so we may actually have to have
a conversation every once in a while, which means at
some point she'll leave and be like, oh, I can't
stand that guy. But I'm I will. There will be
an East Code trip, for sure. There's already a Midwest

(01:53:02):
trip to Oklahoma plan for sure. And we haven't gone
out of the country, with exception to Israel last year.
We haven't gone out and we're tinkering with the idea
of going out of the country. Just I don't know.
I'm not I'm not trying to say I'm scared. UM,
I just every time I ever land in this country,
like this is the greatest country ever? Why am I
going elsewhere? I want to go to the Grand Canyon.

(01:53:25):
I want to go to Grand Canyon. I don't know why,
you know, I want to go do some desert stuff.
I don't know. I kind of want to go to
something cool. But more than anything, I'd like to just
go to the beach every day, which I can do
close to where I live, and I haven't done that.
We'll get to the real winners of this draft and
why I think normally the winner normally the winners. When

(01:53:49):
I break down an NBA draft, it's always very simple,
Like I remember Blake Griffin got drafted and I was
at ESPN, and I would always do pre draft stuff
and post drafts like who's the winner of the drafts?
Like the Clippers, like why, like they got the best player?
Really simple, they got the best player. And so that

(01:54:10):
was when Ben Simmons was drafted. Whether or not he played,
they neither played the first year in the NBA. But
you get the best player, you win the draft. Um.
I look at this draft and I think that whoever
picks six through ten, like you could pick ninth or

(01:54:30):
ten and win this draft. There's so much pressure for
teams to move up. I gotta have a quarterback, but
I don't take quarterback. Somebody's gonna take a quarterback. I
gotta have a quarterback, right, That's what's gonna The Brown's
gonna take quarterback, the Jet's gonna take quarterback. There's a
pretty good chance that the Bills trade up and they
take a quarterback. The Dolphins want to move up and
they want to take a quarterback. Like you look around

(01:54:50):
in the league and there are a lot of teams
that they we still we knew got to get a quarterback,
Gotta get quarterback, gotta get quarterback. That you lose the
fact that there's actually guys that are better players, Like
I'm gonna gets ro Kuan Smith, right, you can already
put him in pen to start inside linebacker on your team.
Somebody gets the kid Nelson from Notre Dame, like that
dude is a and them all as a guard. Write

(01:55:14):
them down. Like you end up winning the draft. Why
because you got a player who's gonna start right away
and can start for a decade. Anyway, one NFL team
trying to clean house. You might see another move later tonight,
I'll explain next coming down in three to one. Come
up Friday in the Dug Gotlip Show. Coming today in

(01:55:35):

the NFL Draft. Will recap it, who won, who lost,
and who completely spit the bit our takeaway from the draft.
Plus former Browns general manager Mike Lombardi joins the show
give us his thoughts of the Browns, did what they
didn't do, the g Men, the Cowboys. We recap it
all only in The Doug Gotlieb Show, only on Fox

(01:55:55):
Sports Radio three two on all Right. So that's it
for this edition of All Ball. Remember to download, rate, subscribe,
and tell a friend, tell a friend, don't be afraid
to tweet it out to Instagram at put it on
Facebook that you like All Ball. Gonna be fascinating to

(01:56:17):
see what happens. We didn't talk a ton about the Wizards.
I think that one goes seven. I'm not as down
on John Wall and the Wizards as other people. I
think Game seven is gonna be a war in Toronto.
The Raptors probably win it. Um. My sense though, is
that either of these teams can push the Calves, and
probably more so the Wizards. I don't know. There's there's
something mentally that Lebron has on the Raptors almost. I

(01:56:42):
want to see the Wizards because I think, you know,
Wall and Beal, and those are two tremendous guards, and
that's not where That's not where Lebron matches up. Like,
you can't put Lebron on either one of those two.
He just can't. And so I think the Wizard are
a tougher matchup for the Caps. Doesn't mean the Wizard

(01:57:02):
is gonna win the last two games and and and
end up facing the Calves. But if I'm the Calves,
they rightfully and smartly avoided them last year. They should
be smart to try and hopefully avoid them this year.
As for the Warriors, today, Steph Curry practice full practice
with the Golden State Warriors. I think this was always
the plan. I think losing a game only helped him
get ready. The problem is gonna be do you start

(01:57:24):
him to you bring him off the bench, what do
you do? I probably bring him off the bench. I
probably try and get him some minutes, try and win
the game one without him. But I wouldn't go not
playing him and go from not playing him to starting him.
I just think that's way too difficult. You gotta play
him a game or two off the bench and limited
minutes and get him some run and have him hit
some shots and not overuse him so he gets back

(01:57:45):
those kind of playing muscles. The NBA is in the
playoffs has played at such a much higher level in
terms of level of intensity that it's it's literally going
zero to a hundred. And I wouldn't do that if
I have somebody as important to my franchise and to
the playoff future of the Golden State wars just wouldn't
do it. Wouldn't do it at all. Um. I do

(01:58:08):
think the Pelicans can pose a tough matchup, but I
think the big thing with the Warriors is Draymond Green
is gonna have to start hitting some shots. You can't
have two guys out there Igua Dallas hitting more shots
in the playoffs, but he's shooting more. Three shooting about
in in the playoffs. You gotta have those guys stretched
the floor. Right now, nobody's guarding Draymond. They're leaving him
wide open. He's still not making shots, still not making shots.

(01:58:31):
And then there's the seventy six ers. I've been a
Ben Simmons guy for a long time. Let's not get
it twisted and beat though, is the guy who's who's
almost is a difference maker because we haven't seen I
haven't seen seven foot two dude who can move like that,
score in the post, shoot three and carry on a
great funny conversation. I am a little bit concerned, a
little bit concerned, little concerned that embiad has never really

(01:58:55):
played in big important games. You know, if you haven't
playing big important games, then do you really know when
to take good shot? Do you really know you know
how how the game changes when you get to the
fourth quarter. So look, the seventies six ers. I'm not
willing to say their favorites. It's still Lebron and everybody else.
I think they have the talent. They're probably a better
team talent wise and three point shooting wise and matchup wise,

(01:59:19):
but there's a lack of attention to detail defensively. They
haven't played in big games. They got a lot of youth,
and they do have some they have a lot of
shooters that don't move particularly well, and that's not a
bad matchup for the Calves. All right, that's all ball
gave you some college hoops, gave you some pro hoops.
More to come next week as we roll on in
the NBA Playoffs. Remember downloads subscribe rate like us, I'm

Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I was just showing, uh,

(02:00:01):
showing music a video from my my kids summer camp.
They go to the summer camp in Maine, like just
on the main border, and uh, it's it's like it's like, honestly,
like what you I didn't go to summer camp like that.
I didn't. I don't know did you guys go to
like I went to all sports. I went to hoop
summer camps. I went to one summer camp that was
like just a little bit of everything was in the

(02:00:23):
mountains here in like the Malibu area whatever. But this
is you can go for up to like seven weeks
and they just it's like just boys, right, Like they
play a baseball game and they run down, they hop
in the river to cool off, you know, and they
do like tug a war and color War and things
like that. It's pretty cool, No, devices, pretty awesome. I

(02:00:44):
would really like to be my son. I think the
whole parent trap thing, the whole switching places. Would they
be cool just for the summer. I don't really want
to go back to although ronis, do you ever do
your your kids work at school? Do you ever do
homework with them? Of course, so much better when you
have the answers, like you feel like the smartest person ever.
I was helping my daughter type of paper the other day,

(02:01:06):
and I was like helping her change some of the words.
Whenever she's like you, why you're why are you doing this?
I was like, dude, it's so much better now I
know that I know how to write it. It was
a lot harder when I was you, well, it's like
what are you doing? You're doing your work for? Is like, ah,
sometimes I want Lucas to pay the electric bill, but
he's too young. Yes, Is that why you had him

(02:01:28):
handing out those flyers in Las Vegas? Is that what happened?
That would happen. Let's get to the press this tax season,

(02:01:53):
Goodell takes the stage for tonight's first round of the
NFL Draft, to less, he'll have some company, Doug. He'll
be joined by Troy Aikman, Roger Staba, and Jason Witten
as they take the stage at Jerry's World, the home
of the Dallas Cowboys. Oh, I'm just kidding. It's a
it's an obvious effort to try to not have as

(02:02:15):
many booze when the commissioner takes the stage. Whether it'll work.
Troy Aikman is the the best quarterback who never no
one ever talks about being the best quarterback. Troy Aigman
was awesome. He won three Super Bowls. He was incredibly accurate,
remarkably accurate, a true leader, and a little bit it's

(02:02:35):
because he played on such a talent team where they're
all Hall of famers um and his career was kind
of a little bit short because of concussions. But it's
funny like we mentioned all time great quarterbacks. Does anybody
mentioned Troy Agman and was he Wasn't he a first
ballot Hall of Famer. It's it's kind of crazy anyway.
By the way, the Seahawks won a second round pick

(02:02:56):
from the Cowboys for Earl Thomas. According to reports, Jay
Glazers say last night, the Jets actually like Josh Rosen
more than they do Sam Donald, So the Jets at
number three could be going Josh Rosen over Donald if
that's how it plays out. Cool story, cool story. Bro.
Warriors guard Steph Curry practice fully today, it is questionable

(02:03:16):
for Game one of their Western Conference semifinal series Saturday
night against the Pelicans. Look, I wouldn't start him, but
I would play him. I play him against second unit guys,
and I try and get him some minutes. See how
he looked, get him some shots. If I can get
him ten to fifteen minutes in the first game, that's
what I would do. I just I don't think you
can go from zero to thirty five minutes, even if

(02:03:37):
he is in good shape and he's been practicing more
than than they're letting. On the NBA's two minute report
from last night's Calves went over the Pacers in Game five,
revealed that Lebron James did goaltend on Victor Oladipo's layup
attempt late in the game. Sorry missed that one. Yeah, yeah,
it was a tie game. And oh yeah, by the
way he he fouled him to fouled him and goaltend

(02:04:00):
at him. But sorry, we missed that one. Cool cool story, bro,
there is there is this though. The report did say
that the Pacers were incorrectly given possession of the ball
with twenty seven seconds left. Remember when it went out
on Lebron James. Well, the NBA has not reviewed it
and said the ball should have remained in the Cavalier's
possession because Thaddy is Young knocked the ball out of

(02:04:22):
bounds and then it hit Lebron and apparently went yeah,
my My My problem is not honestly, with missing a
goaltend call. It's not. My problem is that this particular
type of goaltending play should be reviewable. Hey, if you
shoot it straight in, it's really hard to tell exactly
when it's hit its peak and if it's on, if

(02:04:43):
it's on the way down, and that's it's a hard call.
Split second call but if it hits the backboard, that
should be reviewable. Finally, Doug Tiger Woods is committed to
play in the Wells Fargo Championship next week in Charlotte
and the Player's Championship in two weeks. And of course
let's end it with it. It's a day winning walk off,

(02:05:04):
three run home run, Gary Sanchez, the Sanchino four, three
Yankees win, yan Yank, the Twins and the Yankees radio
network banging out there and pressed that the press not
a lot going on that radio station. Huh. I don't
